Will ‘The Big Bang Theory’ Cast Reunite In The ‘Young Sheldon’ Series Finale?

sheldon
cbs

Will Young Sheldon end like that scene from Saving Private Ryan, except instead of young Matt Damon turning into old Harrison Young, it’s Young Sheldon morphing into Adult Sheldon? We’ll find out soon! The final two episodes of The Big Bang Theory prequel series air next Thursday, May 16. Can fans expect any cameos from the original show? Yes, it turns out.

Jim Parsons and former Jeopardy! host Mayim Bialik, who played Sheldon and Amy on The Big Bang Theory, are confirmed to return. People has an exclusive clip from the final episodes where Amy chides Sheldon for claiming he’s “always doing things to make other people happy” in his memoir. “Sheldon, while I was giving birth you zoomed into a seminar,” she says, to which Old Sheldon replies, “You were taking forever to dilate! And I’d already made my contribution to the project, which need I remind you was on your birthday.”

Sheldon is still on his bazinga bullsh*t.

“It’s pretty crazy to watch old episodes of my voice sound so high and I’m so little,” lil’ Sheldon Ian Armitage told People in an interview about the approaching endgame with Parsons, who added, “He was so arrestingly charming —immediately [you] just couldn’t take your eyes off.” As for the finale, Parsons called it “the most beautiful coda to getting to come back and see each other again, like a grace note to the whole experience. It’s very meaningful.”

Bring back Barenaked Ladies to do the theme for the Young Sheldon finale instead of the current song, which is… performed by Steve from Blue’s Clues? Huh. Who knew? Besides the millions of people watching Young Sheldon every week. They probably did.

You can see a sneak peek of the final episode below.

The ‘EA Sports College Football 25’ Deluxe Edition Cover Was Revealed By The PlayStation Store

PlayStation Store/EA Sports

This summer’s EA Sports College Football 25 is the most anticipated sports video game release in a very long time. After more than a decade without a college football game due to the inability of the NCAA to figure out how to license the game and pay players for their name, image, and likeness, that issue was finally resolved. The process of getting players and teams to sign on to the game seemed upsettingly simple from the outside when you consider how hard the NCAA pushed back on the idea for years.

Later this month, EA Sports is set to unveil covers, details about the game, and we’ll finally get some gameplay footage ahead of the July launch. However, the PlayStation Store decided to give fans of the game an early treat on Friday, as they revealed the Deluxe Edition cover, which features a number of current college football stars.

PlayStation Store/EA Sports

Michigan running back Donovan Edwards, Texas quarterback Quinn Ewers, and Colorado two-way star Travis Hunter are in the foreground, with Georgia QB Carson Beck, Alabama QB Jalen Milroe, and Ohio State RB Quinshon Judkins visible in the second row. It stands to reason that those six will be cover athletes — it’s hard to imagine those being the only nameplates visible is a mistake. As a longtime fan of the game, it’s pretty wild seeing a CFB video game with active players on the cover, but it’s extremely cool and only adds to the excitement for the full details to come later this May and the game’s release in July.

The Artists On The ‘I Saw The TV Glow’ Soundtrack Tell Us About Their Childhood TV Obsessions

i saw the tv glow
a24/merle cooper

Jane Schoenbrun’s brilliant directorial debut, 2021’s We’re All Going To The World’s Fair, follows a lonely teenager who takes part in a viral online challenge. I won’t give away anymore. Just watch it. The film is effectively unnerving — and the work of someone who “gets” the internet and the unhealthy-yet-hypnotic appeal of watching YouTube videos in bed at 2 a.m.

Based on their new film, Schoenbrun also “gets” the hold an old television show can have on you. A24‘s I Saw The TV Glow follows two outcasts who bond over an affection for The Pink Opaque, a Buffy The Vampire Slayer-like series with a deep, extremely silly lore. It’s a remarkable film about nostalgia and trans identity, and much like Buffy and The Adventures Of Pete And Pete, another ‘90s favorite, I Saw The TV Glow has a killer soundtrack.

I recently interviewed four artists who provided songs for the album — King Woman, L’Rain, Bartees Strange, and Sloppy Jane — and asked them about their favorite TV shows when they were younger. Did you know Teletubbies had a disgusting pink name called the Tubby Custard? You’re about to!

King Woman

What TV show were you obsessed with when you were younger?

I liked Goosebumps a lot.

That’s fitting for this movie.

I feel like Jane mentioned that was a reference. Yeah, Goosebumps was really cool and scary.

What was it about the show that appealed to you?

When I was younger, I had an obsession with horror. I loved being afraid, and I liked all the creative stories behind Goosebumps. Now, I’m not. I kind of get spooked by horror films, but back then, I had an obsession with scary movies, like I watched them all the time. I liked the feeling of being on the edge of my seat, spooked by something constantly.

Was there a specific movie that made you not like horror as much?

I think I had been watching so many horror films, and I also have a crazy imagination to the point that I would just get scared at night and have a bunch of nightmares. So I kind of had to stop watching them. A movie that I watched recently that really just scared the fuck out of me was Hereditary. That movie really freaked me out. But I did see it.

Were there any other shows you had an affection for as a kid?

I grew up in a really strict home, so if my mom wasn’t around, if she was at church or something, me and my sister would watch, like, Ren & Stimpy and weird shit like. Nick at Nite. Hey Arnold!. Just a lot of that classic Nickelodeon stuff. All That, which I mean talking about that right now isn’t really aging well.

It’s hard to not have that in the back of the brain.

Yeah, exactly. But you know, that stuff was definitely a part of my childhood. And then I also had to watch a lot of weird Christian brainwash cartoons.

Like VeggieTales?

VeggieTales is actually kind of cool. I still think VeggieTales is really cute, but no, creepier stuff like a guy with a ventriloquist dummy talking about morals. Just strange, really strange stuff. And actually, I watched this specific thing. I can’t even remember what it was called now. But I later found out — this is really dark — the ventriloquist guy for this Christian puppet show turned out to be a guy that was scheming with a police officer to, like, become a cannibal and eat children. I found a random article as an adult about the same guy. And I was like, “Wait.” But yeah, I really liked Nick At Nite.

How did you get involved with I Saw The TV Glow?

Jane reached out to my previous manager, and then Jane and I ended up meeting up at Tompkins Square Park and sitting on a bench and talking about our childhood and our experiences. It was a very eye opening, beautiful conversation. From there, it kind of morphed into me actually being in the movie, which I don’t think originally that’s what was going to happen. I think maybe it could have been a thing, but I ended up doing an original song and then a remake of my song “Psychic Wound.” And then also being in the movie. I just feel so grateful that Jane gave me that opportunity and had me involved to such an extent in the film.

If you could record the theme song to any existing show, what show would you pick?

Do you know Pet Shop Of Horrors?

I don’t.

It’s a ’90s anime. There’s this character called Count D.

I’m in already.

I really think it would be so cool if someone made like a live action of it, and I would love to play that character. There aren’t many episodes. But I love the music for it. It’s my absolute favorite anime, and that specific character is very ominous and mysterious and kind of creepy. It’s really cool.

What TV show were you obsessed with when you were younger?

It feels weird to say, after watching the recent Nickelodeon documentaries, but probably a lot of Nickelodeon. I also watched a lot of like older shows through Nick At Nite. There was so many. I watched every episode of I Love Lucy randomly. And Bewitched, and all of those older shows.

Did you come to those shows independently, or were they through a parent or someone else?

It was just through having the TV on. I feel like I grew up in a household where the TV was always just kind of on. It was a constant noise and a constant presence. So yeah, I would just have Nickelodeon on and then it would just get late and then they would switch to Nick at Nite programming. So I would see all these other things or watch lots of reruns. I have lots of memories of infomercials, and sometimes I’ll see them on Instagram and I’ll be shocked by the fact that I know all the music still.

Were there any non-Nick favorites?

I’m sure they were, like Family Matters and the sort of classic ’90s sitcoms. I was watching reruns of Martin. And Living Single. I rewatched all of it. It’s kind of funny, what you remember and what you don’t remember, and what holds up after a lot of time and what really doesn’t.

I hope Martin holds up.

Some parts of it do [laughter].

Do you watch TV when you’re touring on the road? Or is TV not really part of your schedule anymore?

It sometimes is. I did a lot of catching up during the pandemic, like the beginning of the pandemic, and since then have been staying very current with shows. So usually there’s a show that I’ve been watching that I’ll need to catch up on when we’re on tour. And recently, we’ve all been watching a lot of Curb Your Enthusiasm. That was our band show, and one of my bandmates has been rewatching The Sopranos. So that’s kind of caused a wave of Sopranos watching in the van now.

Is there a contemporary or contemporary-ish show that you wish had been available to you when you were younger?

That’s such a good question.

I can give you an example so you have time to think.

Yeah, yeah.

For me, it’s Adventure Time. I’ve watched it as an adult, and I really love it, but I feel like it would have shaped my entire identity if I had seen it when I was 15 years old.

That’s so good. It’s so easy to binge watch. And it’s so wholesome. But also, somehow edgy. And that’s a really difficult line to tow.

Also really good music. Which provides a segue: can you talk about how you get involved with I Saw The TV Glow?

Someone reached out to me. But I very quickly after started talking to Jane directly about their ideas for the music in the film. And as soon as I read the treatment, and I also watched We’re All Going To The World’s Fair, I was hooked and knew it was something that I really wanted to be a part of and just wanted to figure out how I could fit in. So we ended up meeting and got to know each other, and I saw some early footage of the film. And they gave me a prompt about electricity. That really shaped everything that I ended up recording. I originally thought that I was going to be giving them the title track of my last record because I always thought of that as a horror movie-inspired track in a lot of ways. For logistical reasons, that ended up not happening. But it was great because I ended up getting this opportunity to work on a song that I’ve been wanting to work on for a really long time and couldn’t ever find the right application for it. And the more I kept thinking about the film, the more I realized that this was the exact right thing.

If you could record the theme song to any existing show, what show would you pick?

I would want it to be either the most boring, kind of stupid reality show that ever existed and do a really weird… Actually, no, that is my answer. I think it would have to be a reality show of some kind that’s really popular and brain-numbingly stupid. I would want to do a theme song for that.

Your music would be white noise for many millions of people who have the show on during the day without ever actually paying attention to it.

Exactly. There’s lots of weird, subliminal messaging that you can do in that kind of scenario.

What TV show were you obsessed with when you were younger?

Are You Afraid Of The Dark?.

An early spooky classic.

That was the big one for me. Goosebumps, the TV show. Gosh, I love horror movies and horror TV. And I always have, even as a kid. I was hooked on it. Hey Arnold!.

There was a creepy episode of Hey Arnold! with the train conductor.

That is very scary. Hey Arnold! was very real for me. I grew up in a small town, so I would watch Arnold and be like, “Whoa, kids in the city have this amazing life.”

The most amazing bedroom you’ve ever seen.

Oh, man, that skyline! He would crawl out and sit on the roof. What a life. But yeah, those were some big ones for me when I was a kid. Oh shit, Courage The Cowardly Dog! That was huge. That kind of spurred a big interest in cryptids for me. Every episode was a new, ghosty little cryptid, which was cool and set in a town that was like my town. I watched a lot of anime, too. I felt like anime was cool because I read a lot of books, and I feel like I hit a point where I was like, “Pokémon is for kids. I need something more heavy.” It was like InuYasha and YuYu Hakusho and a bunch of Cowboy Bebop. Those were big for me, too.

Were shows like Are You Afraid Of The Dark? and Goosebumps your introduction to horror?

Definitely, and my dad. My dad watches a lot of horror movies and he used to watch Tales From The Crypt. That was fun because it was like adult humor horror. As a 10, 11 year old, it’s like the coolest, darkest thing you can imagine.

What are your TV viewing habits while touring?

I love a big, long show, like a Six Feet Under or The Sopranos. I’ve been waiting to watch The Leftovers for the next time I tour.

That’s a heavy one.

But that’s great, because it’s a lot. It almost like pacifies you to be sucked into this humongous, deep, sad, weird world. That’s what I’m loving about Six Feet Under right now. It’s just so weird.

Have any TV shows or movies impacted your songwriting?

Yes, so many. I’ll never forget when I heard the soundtrack to Halloween, but that’s so played out. Everyone says that one, but I remember being like, “Is that a guitar?” My dad was like, “No, I think it’s a piano,” and my mom was like, “That’s a synthesizer.” And I was like, “Like an organ?” I just couldn’t wrap my head around that. And then I did, and I was like, “Damn, you can do anything with this.” Also movies like It Follows where there’s so much natural sound and the scariest thing is when nothing’s happening. I love things like that. But my favorite and the thing that I pull from the most in current-making of music are all those Quincy Jones-produced movies, like The Wiz. That’s probably my number one favorite musical movie situation of all time.

How did you get involved with I Saw The TV Glow?

I didn’t know Jane, but I think Jane liked my first record [and] they found a way to get in touch with me. I honestly don’t know how they found me. But I know that I’m friends with a lot of their friends, like Lucy [Dacus] and Phoebe [Bridgers] and Sloppy Jane and that whole hang. So they probably put Jane onto my music. It definitely feels like a community of people that are kind of hovering around each other.

Have you seen the movie?

I have.

What were some of your thoughts while watching it?

It’s a great movie. I watch too many horror movies, but I thought it was special because I’m into the whole story of kids and the intense connection you can have with another person your age when you feel like you’re the only two people that understand a thing. I love how little dialogue they share. It reminds me of being a kid and walking up to someone in high school and being like, “Yo, do you like InuYasha?” And they’re like, “Oh my god, I love InuYasha,” and that’s the only thing you need to know about that person.

When you were younger, was watching TV shows and movies a solitary activity for you, or was it usually with others?

Group. Me and my brother and sister did everything together when we were kids. I was the oldest and so TV was how I could get everyone to chill. So we watched everything together. Horror was actually the thing that I did by myself because it was like I was old enough, or I thought I was. I knew my little sister would get too scared. And then my dad loved horror, too, so that was how I had my little connection with him that no one else had.

If you could record the theme song to any existing show, what show would you pick?

The Jamie Foxx Show. Just ’cause I want to hang with Jamie Foxx. That would be the greatest honor of my life. That, or like The Wayans Bros. or In Living Color or Hangin’ with Mr. Cooper. All those Black mid-’90s TV shows. That shit, that was fun. They were really going hard on the music, too.

What TV show were you obsessed with when you were younger?

This is a busted opinion, but I have, and will always be, a big Teletubbies stan.

OK, interesting.

I love that show. There isn’t too much to say about it, but as a kid, I was really entranced by their universe. And when I watch the old episodes, I still feel that way, like it’s really imaginative. It’s uncanny and very spooky. I love that it’s actually like a bunch of full-sized adults in the costumes. Teletubby world is much bigger than we think. I would really love to go on one of their old sets. They have that — what’s it called? The vacuum cleaner Noo-Noo that comes and cleans up their mess.

I have no memory of this.

They have a vacuum cleaner character who, when they make a mess, they’re like, “Oh no, Noo-Noo.” It comes over and slurps up whatever they did. It’s so weird.

I mostly remember the culture war bullshit about the purple Teletubby.

Oh, Tinky Winky’s purse! So controversial. Woke king.

Things really weren’t that different 25 years ago than they are now.

There was also the Tubby Custard. I don’t know if you remember this, but…

I hate that collection of words: “the Tubby Custard.”

It was like they literally eat this pink slime in a bowl that comes out of this big machine. And then at one point, do you remember there was a big internet controversy about meat or something where it was like, “All processed meat is actually pink slime,” and they showed this video of the pink slime but, I believe, it was debunked to be a video of the Teletubbies Tubby Custard. It was just someone trolling everyone. It was one of the early internet everybody-believing-something-that-could-be-easily-disproved things.

Were there other shows you loved?

Let me think for a second. Embarrassingly, Lost.

No embarrassment. It’s great.

I was such a huge Lost-y. I’ve actually been meaning to revisit it as an adult. But yeah, I was a big Lost fan. That show jumps the shark every episode. Fucking crazy-ass show. Very formative to me. Also, early Degrassi. The Drake-era Degrassi.

Wheelchair Jimmy himself.

Started from the bottom.

Truly. Do you like to watch TV when you’re on the road?

I love hotel TV in general. I feel like when I go to a hotel, I’m like paying to have a niche fetish satisfied of like getting to turn on a TV and flip through channels. Like the old way. I love QVC on tour. I love watching the really slow jewelry QVC ads and commercials.

It’s oddly comforting knowing that no matter which hotel I stay at, there will always be an episode of Friends or Modern Family waiting for me on the TV. And I don’t even love those shows or anything.

I love being given limited options as a member of modern society. I love being like, you have to pick between Forensic Files, QVC, Shark Tank, football, Golden Girls, and some weird kids show in another language. It’s so nice. Then I’m like, “Well, I guess I’ll just put this on.” I do like watching trash TV, but I don’t like the shame involved in picking it.

Can you talk a little bit about your involvement with I Saw The TV Glow?

I got involved through Phoebe [Bridgers] and Jane. They were kind of talking about options. And I think that Phoebe recommended me to do a song for the soundtrack, and I think that Jane resonated with my work after looking into it. We got on a call shortly after, and they sent me the script, and I really, really connected with it. A lot of the visual motifs are ones that I really resonate with. I have a lot of blue dye involved in my own stuff. And I have a lot of VHS TV motifs and stuff, too. I really connected with it when I read it. I also watched We’re All Going To The World’s Fair. Amazing. Movie. Their work is super of the time in a way that I think will be timeless.

How did you land on contributing “Claw Machine” to the soundtrack?

Jane was super generous and very open to whatever song I was going to write, they were like, “I trust you as the artist to write a song.” The one thing that they kind of suggested was, they were like, “This going to be in this pivotal scene in this movie. I think that it should start with the title of the song.” And actually, as a writer, that was super helpful. I love homework because it gives me somewhere to start.

Your performance in the movie reminds me a lot of the music scenes from Twin Peaks: The Return.

I love Twin Peaks as well. So good, and like awesome to be in a moment that was kind of referencing it. The song was actually not 100 percent recorded because the turnaround time is really fast. It didn’t have strings on it yet, and it was still missing a couple of other things, but the vocals were done, and the piano was done. It was all done to a click, so we could perform to it. It was really cool. It was cool to have a movie star moment.

If you could record the theme song to any existing show, what show would you pick?

Teletubbies.

You should come out to that on your next tour.

I always have trouble with walkout music, so maybe we just solved that.

You can stream the I Saw The TV Glow soundtrack below.

I Saw The TV Glow is out in limited theaters now, followed by a wide release on May 17.

Police Were Called To Drake’s Toronto Mansion Again For A Second Trespasser In As Many Days

drake

Drake’s home has been the site of two attempted break-ins and a shooting in just one week. One person was hospitalized earlier in the week after trying to break into Drake’s Toronto mansion, and now, another trespasser was caught. According to TMZ, at around 3:30 ET yesterday afternoon, police were called to the mansion after another person tried to get onto the property and got into an altercation with Drake’s security. That person was later taken to the hospital as well, but no reason was given. The first would-be home invader “was apprehended under the mental health act and taken to get medical assistance,” according to Toronto police.

Meanwhile, on Tuesday (May 7), a security guard was “seriously injured” in a reported drive-by shooting. The guard underwent surgery at a local hospital for a gunshot wound to the upper chest.

The three incidents came after an utterly miserable weekend for the international superstar, who found himself on the receiving end of a trio of vicious diss tracks from rival rapper Kendrick Lamar. While Drake tried to return fire with a pair of songs of his own, disparaging the dubious info Kendrick used against him, fans were less than impressed by the results.

The ‘In A Violent Nature’ Trailer Won’t Make You Puke, But Watching The Full Horror Movie Might

I’m usually skeptical of stories about horror movies making theatergoers puke (it’s a little too convenient as an effective-if-dubious marketing tool), but I’m willing to suspend my disbelief for In a Violent Nature. It looks that scary.

The IFC Films slasher from director Chris Nash, which is uniquely told from the perspective of the killer rather than the victims, reportedly made audience members “gasp and even vomit” during a screening at the Chicago Critics Film Fest. See if you can handle In a Violent Nature in the trailer above.

Here’s the official plot synopsis:

When a locket is removed from a collapsed fire tower in the woods that entombs the rotting corpse of Johnny, a vengeful spirit spurred on by a horrific 60-year old crime, his body is resurrected and becomes hellbent on retrieving it. The undead golem hones in on the group of vacationing teens responsible for the theft and proceeds to methodically slaughter them one by one in his mission to get it back – along with anyone in his way.

In a Violent Nature, which stars Ry Barrett, Andrea Pavlovic, Cameron Love, Reece Presley, Liam Leone, Charlotte Creaghan, Lea Rose Sebastianis, Sam Roulston, Alexander Oliver, and Lauren Taylor, opens in theaters on May 31.

Below, you’ll find neat retro “lobby cards” for the movie.

Toronto Will Reportedly Get A WNBA Expansion Team In 2026

wnba logo
Getty Image

The WNBA is enjoying a stretch of tremendous growth over the last five years, and that seems like just the beginning as young stars like Caitlin Clark push women’s hoops into the mainstream consciousness.

With a new TV deal on the horizon that figures to bring a lot more money into the league, the WNBA has begun exploring ways to capitalize on this moment. One of those is announcing teams will fly charter rather than commercial starting this year, as they look to avoid some of the travel disasters that plagued the league previously.

They are also looking to expand, with a new franchise in San Francisco getting set to join the league in 2025. That team will be the 13th in the WNBA, and the plan is to get to 14 ASAP — and eventually 16. However, the WNBA has wanted to make sure they are adding teams — and more importantly owners/ownership groups — that are able to invest what’s necessary to help continue the league’s growth. A Portland franchise was supposed to be the 14th team, but that fell apart last year and the WNBA shifted attention elsewhere.

Now, it appears Toronto will be the next city to nab a WNBA team, with an ownership group led by Larry Tanenbaum, per CBC Sports.

CBC Sports has learned that Kilmer Sports Inc., headed by Toronto billionaire Larry Tanenbaum, has been granted an expansion franchise with the Women’s National Basketball Association.

An announcement is expected May 23 in Toronto, with the team to begin play in May 2026, according to four people with knowledge of the deal but who are not authorized to speak about it.

Tanenbaum has a minority stake in MLSE, which owns the Maple Leafs and Raptors, but the board apparently turned down a proposal to own a WNBA franchise so he went with his own group.

The WNBA has tested the waters in Canada recently, playing a preseason game in Toronto last year and Edmonton this year, with both selling out. Now, it seems the league is set to make Canada a permanent home for a franchise, bringing the league up to 14 teams in 2026.

Charli XCX Needs A ‘New Hot Internet Girl’ In Her ‘360’ Video Featuring Julia Fox, Emma Chamberlain, And Others

Charli XCX is gearing up for a major rest of 2024. Her new album, Brat, is set to arrive on June 7, and later in the year, she and Troye Sivan are co-headlining the Sweat tour. Before all that comes to fruition, Charli has unleashed a video for the new single “360” today, May 10.

Charli pulled out all the stops for the visual, as it features Julia Fox, Chloe Sevigny, Emma Chamberlain, Chloe Cherry, Matisse Andrews, Quenlin Blackwell, Sakura Bready, Greer Cohen, Anna Collins, A.G. Cook, Alex Consani, Gabbriette, Isamaya Ffrench, Blizzy McGuire, Tess McMillan, Salem Mitchell, Hari Nef, Peri Rosenzweig, Rachel Sennott, Richie Shazam, and Niki Takesh.

There’s a lot of plot here: In the clip, Charli rolls up late to a dinner date with a bunch of friends. When she arrives, the room is full of influencers, who declare they have to “fulfill the prophecy of finding a new hot internet girl” because, per Euphoria star Chloe Cherry, “Or else our kind will cease to exist.”

There’s more from there that I won’t spoil here, but once that gets sorted, we get into the music portion of the video, which features Charli and her pals go through a number of adventures together.

Watch the “360” video above.

‘The Boys’ Season 4: Everything You Need To Know About Homelander’s Next Deranged Phase And The New Season (Update For May 2024)

the-boys-season-4-homelander-med
Prime Video/Amazon

The Boys landed five years ago like a freight train and still goes hard with every consecutive season. The superhero-stomping series continually manages to walk on the edge of the envelope and always go too far but never veer off course, and that’s to the credit of Eric Kripke and his team of creatives knowing exactly how to steer Garth Ennis’ source material.

When was the last time you voluntarily fired up a DCEU or MCU movie on streaming? Exactly. Satire might be largely dead in the real world, but this show knows how to work it in this much-needed context. Homelander will soon turn even more nightmarish, and Billy Butcher is now sacrificing everything in an effort to take him out. That rivalry never grows old, and Butcher might not either, considering what he’s done to himself. With that said, the perfectly paced series has delivered precisely the quantity needed while still maintaining the (highly distasteful) quality at every turn.

Before too terribly long, The Boys: Mexico will add itself to the equation after Gen V kept the brand strong and Diabolical filled in (animated) backstory. Without further bollocks (as Butcher might say), let’s get down to bloody business on the fourth season.

Plot

First off, do you need to watch Gen V before returning to the main attraction? Only if you love yourself. The newest spin off is recommended viewing, but you won’t be completely lost if you only know about the Homelander and Butcher’s season finale cameos, including this gem of a moment:

Antony Starr Homelander Gen V The Boys
Amazon

Viewers will recall that Homelander lasered Marie into unconsciousness. She woke up in a medical facility with most of the other Supes-in-training, and they are likely relegated to The Woods. Whereas Kate and Sam were crowned the “Guardians of Godolkin” and will surface in this season of The Boys while Homelander officially turns the rest of The Seven into “wrathful gods” rather than celebrities in spandex. And joining The Seven (to replace the defected Starlight and “dead”/retired Queen Maeve) will be Firecracker, who will somehow be worse than Stormfront, and Sister Sage, who appears to have powers of persuasion, perhaps to the ultimate detriment of Homelander?

We shall see.

Butcher, for his part, must persuade The Boys to trust him again and will use what he learned (in the Gen V credits scene) about the creation of a Supe-killing virus against Vought International. He intends, presumably, to annihilate The Seven, and of course, he has a long-running (and well justified) vendetta against Homelander. Becca’s son, Ryan, is now fully on his bio dad’s side, so Butcher might still be treading carefully on that front. Perhaps Ryan, in turn, will be Butcher’s Achilles’ heel in another showdown.

No matter what, expect plenty of mayhem (more exploding heads, please), gore, and dongs. The show’s lead VFX wizard, Stephan Fleet, promised to deliver: “I’m excited for the cast of @TheBoysTV to see the crazy sh*t I’m cooking up in VFX! They really put a lot of trust in me.” Get ready, and remember, Homelander can still do whatever the f*ck he pleases although, yes, he will go on trial with the show picking up about a month after the events of Gen V. To get tidy about the plot, let’s peek at the synopsis:

[T]he world is on the brink. Victoria Neuman is closer than ever to the Oval Office and under the muscly thumb of Homelander, who is consolidating his power. Butcher, with only months to live, has lost Becca’s son and his job as The Boys’ leader. The rest of the team are fed up with his lies. With the stakes higher than ever, they have to find a way to work together and save the world before it’s too late.

Cast

Prime Video/Amazone

We can expect most of the usual suspects to come back. Sadly, that does not include Dominique McElligott, although you gotta be happy for Queen Maeve finally being free to pursue a lesbian retirement on a nice farm somewhere. Jensen Ackles has given no inkling that he will return as Soldier Boy, but that’s always possible in the future with him “on ice,” so to speak.

A major new draw this season is Jeffrey Dean Morgan (wish-listed by fans due to his Supernatural run with Kripke), who squeezed in his mysterious role — which still feels like Tek Knight, although Gen V has already given us a Tek Knight (Derek Wilson) in this universe — between The Walking Dead: Dead City shoots. As well, two new Supes, Sister Sage (Susan Heyward) and Firecracker (Valorie Curry) will be around to help bring Homelander’s “wrathful” vision to life, and Ryan Butcher will still be portrayed by Cameron Crovetti.

Those who will return on the Supe side include Antony Starr as Homelander, Chace Crawford as The Deep, Jessie T. Usher as A-Train, and Nathan Mitchell apparently as a new Black Noir. The vigilantes now include Erin Moriarty as Annie January/Starlight, Karl Urban as Billy Butcher, Jack Quaid as Hughie, Laz Alonso as Mother’s Milk, Karen Fukuhara as Kimiko, and Tomer Capone as Frenchie.

On the peripheral, Claudia Doumit (now established as a bloodbender) is Victoria Neuman, who is growing closer to ruling the “free” world. And in the middle of everything will be Colby Minifie as Ashley.

Release Date

June 13 will be when the magic happens. Expect three episodes to drop that day followed by weekly installments to take the world to July 18, and as lead “Supebuster” Billy Butcher has declared, “Oi, we’re f*ckin’ back.” From there, the wait will begin for the second Gen V season, although filming has been pushed back a few months for script rewrites due to Chance Perdomo’s death.

Don’t forget, though, The Boys: Mexico is also in the works.

Trailer

Have at it, and “you’re f*cking welcome,” according to Billy Butcher.

The wait for The Boys is almost over, praise Vought!

'BMF' 302 Meech
STARZ

(WARNING: Spoilers for the most recent BMF episode will be found below.)

The tenth of BMF season three was released last night, officially concluding the show’s third season. For this season’s batch of episodes, the focus was on Meech and Terry and their expansion dreams for BMF. Meech set up shop in Atlanta, while Terry held things down in Detroit. In the midst of all of that, the duo traveled to other cities like Miami to set up new hubs. Season three ends with the Meech and Terry working on a plan to expand to St. Louis. What happens next remains to be seen if the show returns for season four.

Will There Be A BMF Season 4?

Yes! STARZ renewed BMF for a fourth season prior to the season three premiere earlier this year. “We’re thrilled to start working on a new season that will continue bold storytelling of the legend of the Flenory brothers that has proven to resonate so deeply with our viewers,” STARZ President of Programming Kathryn Busby said in a press release about the season four renewal.

There’s no word yet on when season four of BMF will premiere, but fans can expect it to debut sometime in 2025.

‘BMF’ season 3 is now streaming on STARZ. Seasons 1 and 2 are also available to stream.

’28 Years Later’: Everything To Know So Far About The Cillian Murphy Horror Masterpiece’s New Trilogy

28-days-later.jpg
DNA Films

Now that Cillian Murphy has won a leading actor Oscar, he can do what he wants. That includes going back to his roots, so to speak, and although he did a handful of movies before 2002’s 28 Days Later, that film put him on the map. Christopher Nolan agrees, so it must be true, even if Cillian would probably also agree that Daryl Dixon has better weapons at his disposal.

Anyone who has seen 28 Days Later, which Cillian didn’t consider a zombie movie when he signed up, knows that this was one of many haunting performances that he would deliver in the decades to come. Well, we are now sitting a few decades divorced from that movie, which was a simpler time in a way, but also, things have stayed much the same with the concept of a rage-inducing virus in our midst. So, it was time for Cillian to revisit that Danny Boyle-directed world, and he’s up for the challenge. Let’s talk about what is coming together, which is actually more than a single sequel.

Plot

First, let’s consider that the original movie was made on an $8 million budget before pulling in $84 million worldwide. Also recall that the film did a stunning job of making us believe that London was abandoned while following Cillian as Jim, who awoke from a coma into a completely changed world after the aforementioned virus turned humans into speedy zombies. At the end of the film, Jim (now Killian!) remained alive, and although he did not appear in 28 Weeks Later, that doesn’t mean that he doesn’t still exist in this world.

Yes, the time has passed for 28 Months Later, too, but none of that matters anymore. What does make a difference is that Alex Garland is stepping back from directing (after Civil War), and he will be writing 28 Years Later with Danny Boyle back as director — at least for the first movie.

Yup, there’s more than a solitary movie in the cards. According to Hollywood Reporter, Boyle, Garland, and Murphy (who is executive producing, perhaps more) are plotting for a trilogy with each film having a $75 million-ish budget. Garland is game to write the trilogy, and Boyle could be passing the directing baton to Nia DaCosta, who is currently in discussions to go into sequel mode. Further, Sony Pictures will be doing the global distribution honors for the movies that do materialize.

The major question that remains, however, is whether Cillian will reappear onscreen as Jim, which would give us a clue on the plot. Nothing has been confirmed on either note yet, but signs do look positive. The Oppenheimer star recently declared, “I’m available.” He further told Josh Horowitz that “Alex has an idea, and Danny directing is huge, so watch this space.”

Considering how excited Cillian is about this franchise revival, the dude has to be wanting that role to be resurrected, too.

Cast

Thus far, confirmed cast members include Aaron Taylor-Johnson (Kick-Ass, Anna Karenina), Jodie Comer (Killing Eve, The Bikeriders), Ralph Fiennes (The Menu, Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire), and Jack O’Connell (Unbroken, Trial By Fire).

Expect the first three actors on that list to figure prominently into the first movie with O’Connell, as reported by Deadline, picking up “a supporting character in first film and more of a lead role in second.”

Release Date

Sony hasn’t publicized a target release date yet, but given how eager everyone onboard is to do this project, don’t expect a full 28 years to pass before this arrives in theaters. Late 2025 feels plausible for the first film, however.

Trailer

Naturally, several months will pass before we catch a glimpse of what Boyle and Garland have in store for us. In the meantime, please marvel at the empty streets of London again while wondering how they could pull this deserted look off so well.
