In a classic episode of Futurama, Lrrr (of Omicron Persei 8) asks a sage question: “Why does Ross, the largest friend, not simply eat the other five?”
Why do Reacher’s enemies not simply find a bigger Reacher? Well, they did!
One of the big bads (emphasis on “big”) in season 3 of Prime Video’s Reacher will be Paulie, who is described in author Lee Child’s source material as a “very big guy” who is “six inches taller” and “ten inches wider across the shoulders” than Reacher, played on the show by 6′ 3″ Alan Ritchson. Oh, and Paulie outweighs Reacher by 200 pounds. Does such a person exist? Apparently so.
Paulie will be played by Olivier Richters, new Reacher cast member Anthony Michael Hall confirmed to Cinema Blend. “He reminds me of, do you remember when we were kids? The Spy Who Loved Me, the Jaws character that Richard Kiel played? He was a literal giant, like seven foot two. That character (Paulie) does live in the show, and they have an epic battle,” Michael Hall said. “I don’t want to give it away, but yeah, they definitely meet as they do in the book… You know, Reacher and Paulie colliding – there’s something Marvel about that, right? They’re like two superhero-sized guys, so it’s kind of cool.”
Richters, who appeared in Black Widow and Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny, is 7′ 2″, weighs 350 pounds, and describes himself as the “tallest actor and bodybuilder in the world.” His nickname? The Dutch Giant.
This is what Richters looks like:
There’s not a big enough grill in the world to throw at that guy.
Over the past few years, some of the stars of hip-hop’s Golden Era have experienced career resurgences by getting back to their roots and teaming up with producers whose energy matches their own. For instance, Nas hooked up with Hit-Boy to release a string of albums that many fans called his best in years.
Common is the latest ’90s mainstay to mine his youth for inspiration, teaming up with Pete Rock for “Wise Up,” a new single that evokes the spirit of gritty, sample-driven battle rap.
“‘Wise Up’ represents the coming together of a New York Producer and a Chicago MC doing the hip-hop we love,” the near-EGOT winner explained in the press release for the single. “It feels like the spirit of where we come from, the boom bap, the basement, but it also feels forward and new. We wanted this to be the first joint because this record captures a new sound and is a new light but speaks directly to our hip-hop family.”
The song is Common’s first new track since the 2021 release of his fourteenth album, A Beautiful Revolution Pt. 2. However, his profile still looms large over hip-hop; Com’s fellow Chicagoan also teamed up with a New York boom-bap producer, DJ Premier, on his new single, “Together,” which samples Premier’s prior collab with Common, “The Sixth Sense.”

Nelly Furtado is back. Though the Canadian hitmaker has dropped a couple of singles over the past year — including the Dom Dolla collab “Eat Your Man” and the Timbaland and Justin Timberlake collab, “Keep Going Up” — fans have been itching for a proper comeback. And it looks like a Nelly Furtado renaissance is on the horizon. Today (May 22), Furtado dropped her hotly anticipated new single, “Love Bites,” featuring Tove Lo and SG Lewis.
Over a hypnotic beat, Furtado sounds more excited than ever before, as she makes a big pivot into the realm of dance music. With more than two decades into the game, Furtado sounds just as fresh as she did when she first stepped onto the scene as she matches Lo’s randy, lustful energy over SG’s throbbing production.
“I felt called back to music from the DJ community,” said Furtado in a statement. “DJs were remixing my songs at concerts, clubs, and on social media, and I realized how much people like to dance and escape to my music. It’s the healthiest vice you can have, and I love the opportunity to write music that lets people escape more than anything.”

When Hugh Jackman closed out his role of Old Man Logan in Logan, we all thought that that was it for the grumpy guy. And it was supposed to be! Now we know that you can take the man out of the spandex, but you can’t take the industrial grade steel out of the man, so Wolverine is back… again.
This time, Wolvy is going head-to-head with Deadpool in the upcoming Deadpool & Wolverine, but Jackman told Variety that he decided to come back to reprise Logan on his own, without even consulting his team.
“I was on my way, I was just driving, and literally, just like a bolt of lightning, came this knowing deep in my gut that I wanted to do this film with Ryan [Reynolds]. For Deapdool and Wolverine to come back together,” he explained. “I swear to you, When I said I was done, I really thought I was done. But in the back of my head, ever since I saw Deadpool 1, I was like, ‘Those two characters together.’ I knew it, I knew the fans wanted it ever since I put on the claws, people talked about these two. So, that had always been there, but I just knew.”
Jackman just knew, which is why he decided to take on the role before even running it by his agent. “Soon as I arrived, I rang Ryan. And I just said, ‘Let’s do it.’ Like, I hadn’t rung my agent, no one. I had to ring my agent and said, ‘Oh, by the way, I have just committed to a movie.’” The rest was history.
It’s a little risky that Jackman committed to the film before talking to his agent. What if his agent was already hard at work trying to get the actor a role in Les Misérables 2? This is why you always check your schedule first.
Back when she was 18, Purnell had to decide whether to continue working as an actor or go to college and become a teacher. “I was like, ‘Okay, I’m done with school. Acting was a fun little side hustle that’s going to fund my gap year. I’m gonna travel the world and find myself.’ I wouldn’t say I did. I drank a lot. I saw a lot of Australia very drunk,” she told Vulture. Then Purnell was offered a role in a movie directed by a legend.
Just after this period of self-exploration, she was offered her big break in Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children. She had been an admirer of movies by filmmakers with an idiosyncratic vision and distinct style — films with a trademark look that could have been made only by one person. “I didn’t have many dreams, but I had one and it was to work with Tim Burton or Wes Anderson. And I got it,” she says. “At the same time, I was like, ‘F*ck, no, this was my chance to go to university and start a different life.’” Choosing the movie, she says, “was kind of bittersweet.”
Nearly a decade later, Purnell, 27, is able to see she made the correct choice. “Looking back, it’s exactly what should have happened. I’m glad I stuck with acting. I had to fall in love with it on my own account and not because of my family or my friends. Now I love it. Now I choose to do it. I had to figure that out by myself,” she said.
Kids, there’s an important lesson here: screw college. Stick with acting because you never know when you might get to work with nose-less Walton Goggins.
(WARNING: Spoilers for The Chi season 6 will be found below.)
Things just got serious in The Chiseason 6. The second half of the lengthy season got underway a couple of weeks ago, and the show wasted no time turning up the drama in the latest episodes. Last week’s episode ended with the discovery that Victor has been connected to the murder of Q, who was actually killed by Douda. Emmett is also looking to work with Alicia, despite Douda’s request for him to kill her in order to live. Elsewhere, feelings are growing between Britney and Jemma. All of that is in the past now, so here’s what’s in store for the future on The Chi.

Last year, Josh Freese replaced the late Taylor Hawkins as Foo Fighters’ drummer. Freese certainly had some big shoes to fill, but over the past year, fans have welcomed him with open arms. Today (May 22), Freese took to Instagram to commemorate this special anniversary.
In a carousel, Freese shared screencaps and video clips from the “Foo Fighters: Preparing Music For Concerts” livestream event, during which he was revealed as Foo Fighters’ new drummer.
“A year ago today this aired and I got to stop keeping quiet about what had been referred to as ‘the worst kept secret in the music business’ at the time (though I thought we did a pretty good job on our end),” said Freese in the post’s caption. “Foo Fighters released an hour long special of us playing some songs at rehearsal.”
In video clips, Freese and Foo Fighters rehearse the fan-favorite “All My Life,” which Freese joked was “all [the band] really needed.”
He concluded the recalling Hawkins, noting that the band will always carry on his memory.
“I continue to miss Taylor as does the band, his family, friends and the rest of the world,” Freese said. “We also continue to try and make the most of the situation by moving forward and doing what we love doing….playing music, honoring Taylor and staying positive.”
Netflix will not be taking a summer vacation. Instead, the streaming service will be dropping more hankies in tribute to the current Bridgerton couple, who will likely be tangoing with that Lady Whistledown problem lurking in the room. Next, Glen Powell’s crusade to take over pop culture will continue with Hit Man, but watch out because there’s an honest-to-god killer coming to Netflix, too. That would be Dexter Morgan (Michael C. Hall), whose blood slides are about to make themselves known to a (partially) new audience.
Additionally, Team Downey will be wrapping up Sweet Tooth, the basement rises back up in That ’90s Show, and several The Conjuring movies hit the library in case you want to enjoy spooky season during any month.
Here’s everything coming to Netflix in June:
Bridgerton: Season 3 Part 2 (Netflix series streaming on 6/13)
Those Kanthony scratch marks need to be one-upped, and Polin already did those honors in the carriage, but there’s more to come in that department. In the final half of this season, Penelope’s secret identity as Lady Whistledown could very well ruin everything with Colin, but we shall have to see what happens when that truth comes out. Despite losing the Duke a few seasons ago, this show has managed to keep the horny-fires burning for each consecutive season, and Netflix definitely knows their audience, so expect to see much more steam while we wait for all society-hell to break loose.
Hit Man (Netflix film streaming on 6/7)
Glen Powell will soon be riding tornadoes (maybe) in Twisters, but for now, you’ll have to settle for seeing him as a fake hit man alongside Adria Arjona. Richard Linklater helms this noir comedy that might just be based upon a real-life story. Could there be too much charisma in this movie? Wait for it.
Dexter: Seasons 1-8 (Showtime series streaming on 6/19)
Everyone’s favorite TV serial killer is soon to be a streaming sensation. Could this be the next resurrected franchise by Netflix? Perhaps if they can bring something to the equation beyond Dexter: New Blood, which certainly ruled out a few options for a spin off. Watch out for that treadmill scene, man.
Sweet Tooth: Season 3 (Netflix series streaming on 6/6)
Team Downey’s savory slam-dunk series has returned to put a bow on the post-apocalyptic adventures of Gus and Jeppard. In this final season, the questing heads to Alaska in search of Gus’ mother, who is on a search of her own for the origins of the Sick. Unfortunately, Gus is the target of a new threat on the horizon, so it’s anyone’s guess how the hybrids and humanity will fare.
That ’90s Show: Part 2 (Netflix series streaming on 6/27)
The basement is cool again, y’all. Leia Forman has returned to her hang-out spot in 1996, and Red and Kitty are fortunately still kicking. Don’t expect to see Ashton and Mila appear this season, but there will be some other original-cast cameos. Not Danny Masterson, obv, but some non-villains are on tap.

Throughout the rollout of Don Toliver’s new album — which began in February with the release of his “Bandit” video — the Houston rapper appeared to be embracing a motorcycle club motif in the vein of groups like the Hell’s Angels and shows like Sons Of Anarchy. That theme continued in his “Deep In The Water” video, which showed off his and Kali Uchis’ first child together.
Today, Toliver revealed the cover art and the title for the album, which is called Hardstone Psycho. Again, the motorcycle club motif appears on the cover, with Toliver decked out in riding leathers and holding a flag bearing a club logo alongside his chopper. Hardstone Psycho will be Don Toliver’s fourth studio album, following 2023’s Love Sick.
The announcement was accompanied by his new single, “Attitude,” which features Charlie Wilson and Cash Cobain. You can listen to it below.
In April, Don Toliver was cited for driving under the influence after being pulled over for speeding in Southern California. However, he avoided arrest and was released into the custody of another person who was in the vehicle at the time.
Hardstone Psycho is due on 6/14 via Cactus Jack/Atlantic. You can find more information here.
But Swift’s fans quickly uncovered an interview between her former boyfriend Joe Alwyn and Paul Mescal where the two claimed to be in a group chat called the “Tortured Man Club” alongside Andrew Scott, which seemed a little too similar to be a coincidence.
Scott shared how the group chat came to life… and quickly died out after.
“Let me tell you what that is!” the Ripley actor told Variety. Scott explained that he started the chat so that Alwyn and Mescal could chat about there respective roles in two Sally Rooney-based projects, Conversations With Friends and Normal People.
“So they were about to play these tortured characters, and I had played a tortured character in Fleabag. It wasn’t about our own characteristics!” he said. “I think there were three texts, like, ‘Hey, guys.’ You know those groups that you set up, and they just collapse.” Unless you’re in a group chat with some of the Marvel guys.
Even though Scott had a (short-lived) group chat with Alwyn, he’s still in touch with Swift, and even gave a nice humble brag about being able to text her. “Taylor’s new album is sensational! I texted her yesterday to say how amazing it is,” he said, before adding that his favorite track is “The Smallest Man Who Ever Lived,” a track that is actually rumored to be about Matty Healy… but who really knows anymore.
