Seven months after his shocking passing, authorities are still looking into Matthew Perry‘s death. TMZ reports that there is “an ongoing investigation” into how the Friends actor acquired “the ketamine that ended up playing a part in his death — and the main questions are who provided the drug, and under what circumstances.” Both the police and the Drug Enforcement Administration “have been looking into this matter for months, but it’s unclear where exactly investigators are in the probe.”
The investigation includes talking to “some key people in Hollywood.”
While our sources could not provide names … they told us investigators have approached and spoken to people who are known to have a history of drug use or abuse. We’re told those people are not necessarily the actual source of ketamine, but they could have information leading to the source.
Perry’s actress co-star Courteney Cox recently discussed how she feels bonded to her late co-star. “I think he’s one of the funniest human beings in the world. He’s just so funny. He’s genuinely [got] a huge heart. [He] obviously struggled,” she said on CBS Sunday Morning. “He visits me a lot, if we believe in that. I talk to my mom, my dad, Matthew. I feel like there are a lot of people that are… I think they guide us.” Cox added, Perry’s spirit is “around for sure.”
Last week, a hotel security video from 2016 surfaced, and it showed Diddy physically assaulting Cassie. Days later, Diddy shared an apology video, but curiously, he didn’t actually mention Cassie by name in it. That rubbed some the wrong way, but it turns out Diddy may not have even been allowed to say her name.
Back in November, Diddy and Cassie reached a settlement over Cassie’s lawsuit alleging abuse. As TMZ reports, according to “sources familiar with the agreement,” the settlement “includes a very strict NDA, which prevents both of them from speaking about each other in public.”
The publication also relays that Diddy’s attorneys “very closely reviewed his video apology before it was posted,” to make sure it was in compliance with the NDA and didn’t mention Cassie by name, even though Diddy reportedly wanted to address her directly.
Futhermore, Diddy is still facing other lawsuits, so his legal team is reportedly “on edge about him making any public statement.”
So, Cassie may not be able to directly respond to Diddy’s video, but her lawyer did, saying in a statement, “Combs’ most recent statement is more about himself than the many people he has hurt. When Cassie and multiple other women came forward, he denied everything and suggested that his victims were looking for a payday. That he was only compelled to ‘apologize’ once his repeated denials were proven false shows his pathetic desperation, and no one will be swayed by his disingenuous words.”
Most people will never see a million dollars in their lifetime, much less tens of millions of dollars. Even fewer would pass up an easy opportunity to become $40 million richer, regardless of how wealthy they already are.
That’s what a family in Central Texas did when private real estate developers from around the world offered upwards of $130 for their sprawling 1507-acre ranch. Instead of taking one of those huge real estate deals, they chose to sell RGK Ranch to Travis County, Texas, for a reduced purchase price of $90 million—$30 million below its appraised value—so the land could be preserved as a public park.
Nadya Scott and her brother Gregory Kozmetsky inherited the ranch from their parents, George and Ronya Kozmetsky, who purchased the land in 1970. The elder Kozmetsky was a technology innovator and co-founder of Teledyne Inc. who passed away in 2003. He was also an educator and philanthropist who gave away millions of dollars through the RGK Foundation. Now his descendants are donating tens of millions of dollars worth of their family’s land rights for the public good.
The ranch sits outside of Austin, which has seen record growth over the past decade as America’s fastest-growing metro area. The family credits Nadya Scott, Kozmetsky’s daughter, with the vision to make the ranch into a public park.
“I want to preserve the land for future generations because I have seen what happens when the land around a city becomes so valuable that it is sold, and little wild area is preserved,” said Nadya Scott in a press release. “I believe in protecting unique land for the future and I am glad that people before me also wanted to protect land so that I can explore beautiful areas in my travels. The RGK Ranch is a beautiful and unique part of Texas.”
Scott’s son, Jordan, told Texas Monthly that she had been inspired by picnicking and hiking at Will Rogers State Historic Park in Los Angeles, on land that had once belonged to the film star’s ranch, when they lived in California. “Those experiences truly planted a seed for [my mother] to see she could create a similar experience for people in Austin,” he said.
Jordan Scott also said in a press release, “Austin and Central Texas are beloved by the Scott and Kozmetsky families. The cherished memories our family created on this land will now be shared with our community. I am honored by my mother’s decision to preserve and protect this land.”
In the U.S. around 40% of land is publicly owned, while 60% is private. But state by state, the percentages vary widely. In Alaska, for instance, nearly 90% of land is public and the rest privately owned. In Texas, less than 5% of land is public while over 95% is privately owned. Public land is a big part of conservation efforts as it can be protected by law. Natural areas that are preserved for the public, such as our National and State Parks, serve to absorb harmful carbon in our atmosphere as well as keep ecosystems healthy. In states like Texas where very little land is protected, public lands are even more important.
The park will play a vital role in protecting the environment, acting as a natural filter, absorbing rainwater to contribute to the aquifer, and contributing excess run-off water directly to Lake Travis—a huge benefit since Travis County faces water scarcity concerns. The park will also serve the wildlife of the area, creating corridors for animals to wander from habitat to habitat.
“Due to the families’ generosity and the foresight of Travis County, a large and very valuable property with significant conservation value will become parkland, benefiting wildlife, water quality, and future park goers in our community,” said Jeff Francell, associate director of land protection for The Nature Conservancy in Texas, an environmental nonprofit organization that helped facilitate the transaction.
County Judge Andy Brown, who helped lead the efforts to acquire the land for the county, added, “The Scott family’s generosity also ensures that future generations will have the chance to experience the beauty and ecological value of this land. We look forward to collaborating with the community to develop a park that reflects the diverse needs and interests of our residents.”
The county will create a master plan for the land, but according to Texas Monthly, a home on the ranch is already slated to be turned an events center. The Scott family will retain ownership of 90 acres of land adjacent to what, but Travis County will have right of first refusal to buy that land if the family decides to sell in the future.
The park is expected to open to the public in late 2025.
A bride-to-be was recently en route to Austin with a few of her gal pals to celebrate her bachelorette party. But little did she know that she’d be getting a cherished memory long before she reached her destination.
A flight attendant for their Southwest flight announced over the PA system “we have royalty onboard,” and that this woman, Bri Kunkle, would soon be married.
“She is quite the princess,” the attendant said before asking the other passengers for a favor.
“I need a little help from every lady on the plane that is married or has been married. I’m going to walk up and down the aisle, and I’m going to give out a napkin,” she instructed.
“Get out a pen or something to write with, share amongst yourselves, if you would take a moment to write a little note of encouragement or piece of advice. What was something you would like to have known before you became a bride? If you could write that down so that I can pass that off to her, and she can hold on to those for a long time to remember this specific trip.”
In the clip, we see an emotional Bri receive her stack of sweet paper notes, along with a crown and snack sash.
Then the video ends with a look at the insightful messages she received.
“Before you say ‘I do’ make sure you know who you are as an individual, so you can grow together as patterns in life, in a healthy way. Congrats and enjoy the ride,” one note read.
Someone else wrote, “Marrying your best friend is such a special moment. Congrats! Remember to enjoy the little things with your partner! It’s you both against anything, and as long as you attack life together with kindness and honesty you’ll succeed. I wish you a lifetime of happiness. Now go have fun!”
Many spoke to the importance of appreciating the little things and communicating openly…but also remembering to avoid difficult conversations until hunger, anger, loneliness, or tiredness have subsided. As one person put it, “it’s okay to go to bed angry.”
There were even a few bits of pragmatic advice for the big wedding day, like this one:
“Have you MOH hold a tissue for you during the ceremony so you can gesture for it if you need to wipe away tears. And plan all you can beforehand, but on the day, just relax, enjoy, and bask in marrying your person! Congrats!”
The wholesome video was originally posted to Southwest Airlines TikTok account, and reposted by Kunk herself, who wrote in her caption “my heart is full and now I have to go make a scrapbook of these.” Over in the comments section of her accounts, many viewers swooned over how this special moment encapsulated the magic of “girlhood.”
“Something about all these women’s handwriting makes me feel so emotional. The young, the old, the way the old women all added the date. I love women. What a special moment with a bunch of strangers,” one person shared.
Well said. Kudos to the flight attendant who gave this future bride a memory she’ll cherish forever.
The mullet is a hairstyle that became prominent in the late ‘80s and early ‘90s and was popular among hockey players, country singers and anyone who drove a Camaro. But over the years, the look has become a hallmark of tackiness that few wear seriously.
However, even though the mullet is passé among humans, a dog in Canada makes the case that it looks pretty stylish on canines.
Jeff Cole, a voiceover actor and podcaster, recently shared the mullet he gave to his 5-year-old Yorkie mix, Biggie, on TikTok. The video was a huge hit, with over 7.2 million views. “Who just got a haircut? Who just got a fresh new mullet?!” Cole asks in the video.
Overjoyed, Cole lifts Biggie in the air and proclaims: “Is it Biggie, boy? Yay!”
Cole rescued BIggie in 2021 and the little Yorkie has had the business-in-the-front-party-in-the-back look for some time. “He’s been rocking the mullet for about two years. I used to have the same cut and Biggie thought we should match,” Cole told Newsweek. “We were twinsies for a while and people loved it! After a while, I started to look like a creep, so I cut mine, but Biggie did not have it, so he kept it.”
The comment section is ablaze with adoration for Biggie’s mullet. “Business in the front, PAWTY in the back,” gushed JBode1205. “What in the Tiger King is that?” exclaimed Krysta.
Although the short-on-top, long-in-the-back hairstyle can be traced back to the 6th century BCE, the name “mullet” is believed to have been coined by the hip-hop/punk artists Beastie Boys. They released an ode to the haircut, “Mullet Head,” as a B-Side to their 1994 single “Sure Shot.”
The Indiana Fever are the most talked about team in the WNBA coming into the 2024 season, as Caitlin Clark joined Aliyah Boston in Indianapolis to give the Fever a pair of top overall picks and a ton of hype. However, they have two top overall picks for a reason, as there’s still work to do to reach the level of the top teams in the league.
Clark and the Fever were learning lessons in real time to start the year, facing a gauntlet of top teams out of the gate, but after a pair of blowout losses to open the year, they showed some signs of improvement in New York over the weekend. They looked to build on that on Monday night in their second game of the young season with the Connecticut Sun, this time at home in a raucous Gainbridge Fieldhouse.
The star rookie hit a pair of threes in the first quarter, appearing in a better rhythm early than her home debut, and as a team the Fever were much more competitive.
Caitlin Clark hits her first triple of the matchup
She would return for the start of the second half after the Fever went on a run to take a 44-41 lead in her absence, with Kelsey Mitchell leading the way on the run.
The two teams would go back-and-forth in the second half, with the stars shining on both sides. Alyssa Thomas and DeWanna Bonner combined for 46 points for the Sun, while Clark and Mitchell led the Fever with 17 each.
The highlight sequence of the game for the Fever came in the early fourth, when Boston got a block and Clark hit a logo three in transition for her first real signature moment as a pro.
However, the learning curve was still apparent down the stretch, as turnovers and fouls remain an early issue for Clark to clean up. After getting ripped by Thomas at midcourt, Clark picked up a transition take foul and then a technical, as her temper led her to say a magic word to the official as she walked by.

The two teams continued trading buckets down the stretch, with Ty Harris (16 points) getting hot for the Sun, but Clark finding answers on the other end as a scorer and facilitator.
Trailing by two late, the growing chemistry between Indiana’s top picks continued to shine, as Clark hit Boston on the short roll for a game-tying push shot in the lane.
After the Sun hit two free throws on the other end, the Fever put the ball in Boston’s hands, who faked a handoff with Clark and got to the rim, but couldn’t finish to tie the game again, as the Sun got an 88-84 win after Thomas iced the game at the free throw line.
The Fever had a chance to tie it, instead they lose a close one to the Sun.
The Sun remained a perfect 3-0 on the young season (with two wins over the Fever) with the W, as Thomas and Bonner continue to be fantastic and Harris provided a massive lift down the stretch with her perimeter scoring punch. The only real concern for Connecticut in the game was their bench struggles, as the second unit was the main culprit in the first half run that brought the Fever to the lead.
For Indiana, the improvement from the opener to Monday night was visible, and while they didn’t get the win, seeing some tangible results to show that their process is improving is a good thing. Clark continues to look more and more settled offensively, finding passing lanes more frequently and making quicker, more decisive reads as a scorer and facilitator. There’s still some work to do on the turnover front (5 on Monday), but some of that is just continuing to adjust to the additional physicality she’s facing on the ball — best evidenced by the Thomas steal in the fourth quarter.
There’s still chemistry being built between the key members of the Fever, with Clark, Boston, and Mitchell all just three weeks into their partnership (and Mitchell just two games into being back in the lineup). The flashes are there, and now it’s a matter of learning how to finish off games against veteran groups like the Sun that know exactly how they want to operate down the stretch.
Now, The Sun has reported that Styles is single again after Russell attended the Met Gala solo. A source told The Sun, “Harry and Taylor have ended their relationship. They went through a rough patch after their trip to Japan and are taking some time apart. He’s been in America and she’s been in London. They made a lovely couple, and it was obvious Taylor made Harry happy. Things have become strained recently though and they’ve taken some time out.”
Now, as to the veracity of this statement — take it with a grain of salt until one of the couple actually confirms it for themselves. However, they were relatively low-key about their relationship over the past year, so it could be a while until that happens. For now, the answer to the question posed by this post will have to remain, “unclear.” Their time apart could signal the end of the relationship, or it could just be that they’re working on separate projects.
In March, OpenAI launched its latest product, ChatGPT-4, and a week ago, demonstrated a new voice model, nicknamed “Sky,” which many commenters observed sounded almost flirty — and very similar to Samantha, the virtual assistant voiced by Scarlett Johansson in Spike Jonze’s 2013 romance film Her. Unfortunately for OpenAI, it sounded a little too much like Johansson, who said in a statement that she was “shocked” and “angered” that the voice so closely resembled her own — especially after she had previously declined an invitation to voice Sky during its development.
In the statement, which was shared by NPR’s Bobby Allyn on X (formerly known as Twitter), Johansson revealed that recently ousted and reinstated OpenAI CEO Sam Altman contacted her with a request to voice ChatGPT-4. “After much consideration and for personal reasons,” she wrote, “I declined the offer.” However, she was alerted to the new Sky system by friends and relatives noting the similarities to her voice in Her, and reached out to Altman — who’d hyped the release of the product by posting the word “her” on X — asking for details about the product’s creation.
Sky has since been disabled, with OpenAI posting on X, “We’ve heard questions about how we chose the voices in ChatGPT, especially Sky. We are working to pause the use of Sky while we address them.” In an attached blog post, the company says the voice “belongs to a different professional actress using her own natural speaking voice,” and was designed to be “approachable” and “natural and easy to listen to.”
You can read Johansson’s full statement below. Notably, Johansson has had some luck in taking on massive corporations in the past; Disney settled in her lawsuit over unpaid Black Widow royalties a couple of years ago.
“Last September, I received an offer from Sam Altman, who wanted to hire me to voice the current ChatGPT 4.0 system. He told me that he felt that by my voicing the system, I could bridge the gap between tech companies and creatives and help consumers to feel comfortable with the seismic shift concerning humans and Al. He said he felt that my voice would be comforting to people.
After much consideration and for personal reasons, I declined the offer. Nine months later, my friends, family and the general public all noted how much the newest system named “Sky” sounded like me.
When I heard the released demo, I was shocked, angered and in disbelief that Mr. Altman would pursue a voice that sounded so eerily similar to mine that my closest friends and news outlets could not tell the difference. Mr. Altman even insinuated that the similarity was intentional, tweeting a single word “her” -a reference to the film in which I voiced a chat system, Samantha, who forms an intimate relationship with a human.
Two days before the ChatGPT 4.0 demo was released, Mr. Altman contacted my agent, asking me to reconsider. Before we could connect, the system was out there.
As a result of their actions, I was forced to hire legal counsel, who wrote two letters to Mr. Altman and OpenAl, setting out what they had done and asking them to detail the exact process by which they created the “Sky” voice. Consequently, OpenAl reluctantly agreed to take down the “Sky” voice.
In a time when we are all grappling with deepfakes and the protection of our own likeness, our own work, our own identities, I believe these are questions that deserve absolute clarity. I look forward to resolution in the form of transparency and the passage of appropriate legislation to help ensure that individual rights are protected. ”
The 2024 NBA Conference Finals will tip-off this week, with the Pacers-Celtics series being broadcast on ESPN, while TNT will carry the Mavs-Timberwolves battle. As always, TNT’s studio crew will hit the road for the Western Conference Finals, with Ernie Johnson, Charles Barkley, Kenny Smith, and Shaquille O’Neal going live from outside the arena with fans gathered behind.
This year, that group will be joined by Draymond Green as a permanent fifth member of the crew for the first time on the road. Green will be in Minnesota and Dallas for the entire series, and that figures to add an interesting element, to say the least, especially considering they regularly bring out stars of the game to talk with the fellas on set. Green is not on the best terms with the Minnesota frontcourt, namely Rudy Gobert, but he’s also been critical of Karl-Anthony Towns in the past. After Game 5 of the second round series with the Nuggets, Green proclaimed the series would end in Game 6 and was absolutely giddy breaking down Gobert getting worked by Nikola Jokic.
You can bet he will hear it plenty from the crowd in Minnesota and may have some icy interactions with any of the Wolves that drop by the set. And it’s also a lock that, in case things aren’t awkward enough when those guys join the crew, Chuck and Shaq inevitably instigate things and bring up everything he’s said in the past.
A month after being drafted with the seventh overall pick to the Chicago Sky, Angel Reese is living her best life. The WNBA rookie has become hip-hop’s favorite of the 2024 draft class, receiving support from Latto, who sat courtside for Reese’s debut game, Megan Thee Stallion, and GloRilla, joining the latter two on stage during the Chicago stop of their Hot Girl Summer Tour over this past weekend. This was, of course, after being featured in Latto’s “Put In Da Floor Again” video with Cardi B after her junior season at LSU.
The love for Reese among rappers was noted by fans on X (RIP, Twitter.com), who pointed out how she has generated much more buzz among that demographic than many of her peers in this much-hyped WNBA rookie class.
I love how Angel Reese is being embraced by the rap girlies Megan Thee Stallion, GloRilla, AND Latto! It warms my heart! She deserves all the love she’s receiving!
Meanwhile, on-court, Reese has lived up to the billing, averaging 11.5 points, 8.5 rebounds, an assist and a steal over her first two games in the league (both against the Dallas Wings, splitting wins between the two teams). Reese also attended the Met Gala in New York when her team played there in the preseason, proving she has the versatility to look just as good off the court as she has on it.
