Mother is ‘fuming’ that daughter’s stepmom tells people she’s the biological parent

A mother on TikTok has received over 8 million views on a video that recounts a terrible episode that occurred as she was trying to separate from her abusive ex-husband. In the video entitled, “Stepmom tells everyone she is the mom,” Belle Blake recounts a harrowing tale of when she realized that her ex-husband’s wife lied about her role in her daughter Delilah’s life.

Blake tells the story as a “reenactment” because it occurred during a time when she was involved in legal proceedings and couldn’t share it publicly.

As a TikTok user with over 93,000 followers, Blake told the salacious story, knowing it would attract attention, which she used to promote the Safe At Home Program or Address Confidentiality Program.

It all started when Blake picked up her daughter, Delilah, from dance class and the other mothers thought she was the stepmom. Delilah’s real stepmom, Stephanie, had told everyone she was her biological mother.

@mrsbelleblake

I’m 1000% done #stepparents #cheater #husbandandwife #divorce Disclaimer: this is a reenactment inspired by my own experiences with domestic abuse. I am no longer around the people involved. This is to bring awareness to the Safe At Home Program (Address Confidentiality Program), this program provides a decoy address to victims of domestic abuse so their abusers can’t find them. Domestic Abuse Hotline: 800-799-7233

“Her stepmom has been telling everyone that she is her biological mom. Like having conversations about when she was pregnant with her,” Blake says in the video.

The stepmother had even claimed that Blake’s birth story was her own. “I gave birth to her, weird. And [a mom at the dance class] goes, ‘What? No, no, no, Stephanie gave birth to her. Stephanie was telling us all about the preeclampsia that she had. She had a seizure after she was born…'” she continued.

“This woman stole my birth story! My birth story! That I went through. She’s out here telling people that she was pregnant with Delilah, and she had preeclampsia. And she had seizures! She had to stay in the hospital with a magnesium drip! Excuse me?” Blake says while getting progressively angrier.

Blake goes on to clarify that Stephanie wasn’t even around when Delilah was born; she was still in high school.

To add further insult, Stephanie said she named Delilah after hearing the song “Hey There Delilah” on the radio, which was Blake’s story as well. “But I can’t believe that somebody would actually do that. She went on to tell people how she picked out the name. Delilah. Like talked about, how … this woman is like trying to be me,” Blake says,

Stephanie was able to get away with her dishonesty for so long due to strict visitation rules. Blake never had her on days she went to dance class.

Blake’s disturbing story inspired many to rally behind her in the comments. “Go through the family courts, get custody changed and file a restraining order,” ArtisticCircus urged. “This is like – your daughter shouldn’t be alone with this woman territory,” Morgan Elisa Strickell added.

“That’s actually scary,” Alisha wrote, to which Blake responded, “Terrifying!”

The good news is that these days, Blake and her children have no connection with her ex-husband or Stephanie and aren’t old enough to remember them or their shocking behavior. Blake now has sole custody of her kids and is married to a “fantastic guy” and “everything is great.”

Throughout her video series on the identity-stealing stepmother, Blake was eager to mention that she was sharing it to promote a program that helps women escape domestic violence known as the Safe At Home Program or the Address Confidentiality Program.

To learn more about this program that allows victims of domestic violence, sexual assault, stalking or other types of crime to receive mail at a confidential address while keeping their actual address undisclosed, visit the National Domestic Abuse Hotline’s website.

‘I felt ill’: Brendan Fraser describes sexual assault that nearly made him quit acting

Remember Brendan Fraser? 10 years ago, he was one of Hollywood’s biggest stars. Then, he suddenly disappeared.

If you were a kid in the late ’90s and early ’00s, chances are you saw a Brendan Fraser movie. The comedy and action star catapulted to fame behind blockbusters like “The Mummy” franchise, “George of the Jungle,” “Looney Tunes: Back in Action,” and the Oscar-winning film “Crash.”

But after 2008, he largely disappeared from major starring roles. His absence wasn’t due to drugs, a sex-scandal, or illness — despite memes and even reported articles speculating about his career arc, with many blaming it on poor career choices.

Fraser revealed in a recent interview that an incident of sexual harassment led him to withdraw from his high-profile lifestyle.

Lately, the actor has gradually returned to more high-profile roles, and in an interview with GQ, he explained that the real reason he stepped back from the spotlight was because of being physically groped by Philip Berk, a former president of the Hollywood Foreign Press Association.

In his own book, Berk admitted to “pinching” Fraser in the buttocks after an event, but Fraser says the incident was much worse. “His left hand reaches around, grabs my ass cheek, and one of his fingers touches me in the taint. And he starts moving it around.”

“I felt ill. I felt like a little kid,” he told GQ. “I felt like there was a ball in my throat. I thought I was going to cry.”

He said it’s time to speak out, and other male victims of harassment are supporting him.

Berk has called the allegation a “total fabrication” but acknowledges he sent Fraser an apology letter after the incident when the actor complained to the HFPA. Fraser said he tried to bury his feelings about the incident, but he was moved into action after seeing actresses and actors speaking up at this year’s Golden Globes.

“Am I still frightened? Absolutely. Do I feel like I need to say something? Absolutely. Have I wanted to many, many times? Absolutely. Have I stopped myself? Absolutely.”

Despite his reservations, people seem to believe, and be genuinely moved by, Fraser’s claim. Once the target of jokes, Fraser has become a catalyst for moving praise across social media.

He’s also earned some public support from actor Terry Crews, who has publicly discussed experiencing a similar incident years ago.

“Brendan is amazingly courageous in telling this,” Crews wrote on Twitter. “His assault experience is extremely similar to mine — ending with the assailant explaining away his actions. One man’s ‘horseplay’ is another man’s humiliation.”

Victims of sexual harassment and assault often face deep shame and fear in speaking out. Speaking out takes courage.

Speaking out after experiencing harassment or assault can be an incredible challenge, often full of personal and professional risk. Though the majority of assaults are against women, men face their own similar challenges in overcoming shame, doubt, and repercussions for coming forward and speaking out. When men like Fraser and Crews speak out, they help clear the path for other men to come forward with their own stories.

Experts end the debate over whether you should really keep your toothbrush in the bathroom

There are plenty of things that people might instantly frown upon when hearing it’s done in the bathroom. Eating a hot meal, making a baby blanket, or even having a conversation are things some people might find a bit weird to occur while one is in the bathroom where a toilet is present. But the one thing that may be surprising is there are people who think keeping your toothbrush in the bathroom is strange.

The debate has been going on for quite a bit with some people even admitting that they not only keep their toothbrush in the bathroom but keep it in the shower. The shower toothbrush keepers seem to do it for convenience. No need to worry about getting your sink dirty or having to rinse it out afterwards, it can feel like skipping several steps.

On the other side of the debate are people who think shower toothbrushes are a step too far but bathroom toothbrushes are totally fine. So where the heck are you supposed to keep your toothbrush?

In a video posted to TikTok by Kevonstage shows his bewilderment as he reads a tweet that says, “keeping your toothbrush in the bathroom 24/7 is actually disgusting. idk how yall do it.” The comedian explains that this is something he has never even considered his entire life, revealing that in the comments the poster says she keeps her toothbrush in the bedroom because of the fecal particles in the air.

“That’s why I don’t eat in the bathroom, because I feel like residual doo doo particles could be in the air but your teeth are just mouth bones that live outside your body. I never thought that to protect your mouth bones you gotta take your toothbrush to your bedroom,” Kevonstage says.

See his video below:

@kevonstagetiktok

Keeping your toothbrush in the bathroom 24/7 is disgusting.

Experts are aware of the ‘toilet plume’, which is what occurs when you flush the toilet spreading microscopic particles in a six foot radius. They still say you don’t need to worry about keeping your toothbrush in the bathroom.

Paradise Dental Associates says, “The bathroom counter is one of the best places to store your toothbrush. It’s out of the way of busy areas in your home, like the kitchen, and it’s easy to keep clean. Plus, you’re less likely to forget to brush your teeth if your toothbrush is in plain sight.”

The dental associates do say to keep the toothbrush as far away from the toilet as possible and make sure you close the lid before flushing. Also advising against storing the toothbrush in the medicine cabinet or drawer because it cuts off air from the drying bristles making it a breeding ground for bacteria.

Speaking of bacteria, in another video posted to TikTok answering a dentist explains using text overlay that keeping a toothbrush in the shower is also a quick way to collect bacteria. According to the dentist, showers remain moist long after use due to the space being enclosed, the steam and left over water droplets. She also points out that not having a toothbrush holder in the shower could contribute to contamination as well if people are placing them in soap holders and shower caddies.

Watch one dentist explain here:

@paste.dental

Are you guilty? 😂 #dentist #dental #dentaloffice #dentaltips

Overall it seems the consensus is that you can keep your toothbrush in the bathroom, just close the toilet lid before flushing. And if you’re worried about poo particles getting on your toothbrush, experts say using a cap that is loose fitting allows the toothbrushes plenty of room to air dry without having a bacteria party.

Living on a cruise ship just became a real option thanks to a new ‘residential’ cruise line

Imagine spending every day exploring wondrous locations, eating expertly crafted meals, enjoying year-round indulgence … could there be anything better?

Taking a lifelong cruise might sound like something out of a dream, and an unrealistic one at that. But leaving the land behind and adopting a seafaring lifestyle is now more attainable than ever.

By 2024, cruise line Storylines will launch a 741-foot ship dubbed the MV Narrative, a huge vessel containing 547 fully furnished rooms available for purchase or lease.

The cruise will definitely be the stuff of luxury, with its high-end spas, movie theater, yoga sun deck, state-of-the-art fitness center, art studio … it even has a bowling alley, for crying out loud. But being a “residential community at sea,” there will also be things like a library, post office, school and bank.

Perhaps the funnest part—in addition to extended stays in exotic locations—residents will have a say in where the vessel goes. “What a typical cruise line might do in one month or three weeks, we will take three to four months to do,” Storylines founder and CEO Alister Punton told CNN Travel, adding that the residents “have opportunities to have input into where the ship goes next.” These “residents choice” days allow those on board to choose the ports of call.

Is MV Narrative the only residential ship to sail the seven seas? No. The World has offered residential living since 2002, according to The Real Deal. Other lines, like Utopia and Victoria Cruises, also offer an all-inclusive lifestyle.

However, it could be the most eco-friendly. Travel and Leisure noted that the ship will run on clean-burning liquid gas and have a zero-waste farmers market selling local products. “We will definitely be the greenest cruise ship out there,” Punton shared with CNN Travel.

Travel and Leisure states the MV Narrative’s current listing price range from $1 million to $8 million to own, with a small number of 24-year leases available from $600,000, which works out to around $25,000 per year.

Of course, if you were to forgo any homeownership and chose instead to live the life of a nomad, a lifelong cruise could be an even cheaper and more accessible option. Earlier this year, retired couple Angelyn and Richard Burk made headlines by fulfilling their travel dreams of hopping from ship to ship … all for around $36,000. Yep, less than an average mortgage. It’s no wonder why this is such a popular trend for adventurous folks of retirement age.

This might be because people are attracted to having both adventure and the comfort of home, which Storylines provides. “At the end of a long day discovering a new exotic location, they can come home to friends and familiar surroundings and sleep in their own bed,” Storylines co-founder, Shannon Lee, wrote in an email to Travel and Leisure.

What a time to be alive, when you can travel the world and never leave home.

People share the ingenious ways they use leftovers to make creative, delicious meals

Whether you’re trying to cut back on food waste or stretch your dollar a little further on groceries, finding creative ways to use leftover food is a good place to start. And thanks to the internet, crowdsourced tips and tricks are only a click away.

A Redditor who goes by DAGuardian shared how they had recently shared how a quick Google search led them to discover how to make a soup paste from pea pods, followed by a recipe for a “Cinnamon Sugar Treats” using leftover breadcrumbs. This led them to asking the community:

“What are some of your ‘leftover’ ingredients that other people throw away but you use?”

Below are some truly ingenious answers. And the best part is: you don’t have to be a culinary whiz in order to incorporate some of these into your meal-making routine.

1. “Broccoli stalks , I either roast them and serve them like any other roast veg or chop them up finely and add to stews, they are delicious.”Guilty_Nebula5446

2. “I’m obsessed with using everything that’s edible. One thing that comes to mind that’s probably rare for home cooks: carrot tops. They literally taste like a carrot if it was an herb, and can used as such. One thing I love to do is eat it with the carrots by turning it into a chimichurri with other herbs and olive oil. It’s also a tasty garnish on its own.”Hot-Celebration-8815

3. “Pineapple peel tea. When you cut a pineapple, save the core and peel. Boil that with two sticks of cinnamon, an inch of ginger, and a tsp of turmeric for maybe 20-30 min, let it sit for a hour, strain and yum!”Rachilllii

4. “Berries that are juuust past the point where you want to eat them as-is make great jams or sauces, that’s an old school thing to do.” CaptainLollygag

food, recipes, leftovers, ideas for leftovers

5. “Lots of cheese rinds are edible. They can be used to add funk to soups and braises, blended into powders that can be added to bread doughs, crackers, all sorts of stuff.”Hot-Celebration-8815

6. “The stems from shiitake, oyster, and other of the more flavorful mushrooms. I dry them and then throw them into broth, which I make with all the left over chicken bones I save!”AccidentalNarwhal

7. “I see a lot of people throw away the stems for cilantro and just use the leaves. I use every last inch of the cilantro! Heck, the stems have even more flavor in my opinion.”DisneyAddict2021

food, recipes, leftovers, ideas for leftovers

8. “When my kids were little their favorite treat was when the jam jar was empty except for the last little bit, we would put some ice in it and fill with milk, seal it up and they would take turns shaking it then each had a little glass of flavored milk as a treat. Clean jar, no waste probably less sugar than commercial flavored milk and they thought it was the greatest thing ever.😁”nomiesmommy

9. I never dispose of pickle juice. It’s so good for you. It has a lot of electrolytes so it’s great for dehydration. It releives muscle cramps. It’s great for your digestive tract. It can even help relieve menstral cramps. I usually drink about 2 to 4 oz and follow it up with at least 8 oz of water. I also sometimes use it in place of lemon juice in recipes. It has that great acidity and tang like lemon but it’s different enough so it makes people go hmm what is that. It’s my secret tuna salad weapon.”BeautifulHindsight

10. “I collect the heels. Store them in an airtight container in the freezer. With 8 heels, I can make a large, killer bread pudding that disappears within hours…”Haughty_n_Disdainful

food, recipes, leftovers, ideas for leftovers

11. “I freeze vegetable scraps to make vegetable stock. It couldn’t be easier; it contains nothing processed, has no salt, and is delicious. Whenever I chop vegetables, I drop whatever is left into a Ziploc, like onion and carrot tops, fennel tops, zucchini tops, anything. When I have a gallon-sized Ziploc full, I dump it into a pot, cover it with about two inches of water, bring it to a boil, and then simmer it for about an hour. Strain and freeze.”u/nerdzen

12. “Potato peels! After you peel potatoes, wash and dry the peels. You can fry them later like chips, and they make a delicious snack; just need some salt.u/No-Access-1761

food, recipes, leftovers, ideas for leftovers

And there you have it, some delicious ways to cut down on food waste and get a little more taste bud bang for your buck. Bon appétit!

UPS driver shares his weekly paycheck, and now everyone wants to apply

People are seriously considering switching careers after finding out how much can be made as a UPS delivery driver.

Back in October, Skyler Stutzman, an Oregon-based UPS delivery driver went viral after sharing his weekly pay stub on TikTok.

In the clip, Stutzman showed that for 42 hours of work, and at a pay rate of $44.26 per hour, he earned $2,004 before taxes, and ultimately took home $1,300 after deductions.

This both shocked the nearly 12 million viewers who saw the video…not to mention it stirred their jealousy a bit.

Several couldn’t help but compare Stutzman’s salary to their own—especially those in professions requiring degrees and certifications.

“Not me realizing that a UPS driver makes more than I do. 20 years in my field with a degree!” one person lamented.

Another added, “$44? I’m a dang nurse only making $32 🤦♀️”

@skylerleestutzman UPS Driver Paystub Breakdown… #upspay #upswages #teamsters #ups ♬ original sound – Skyler Stutzman

Many even joked (or perhaps half-joked) about applying to become drivers themselves. But as Stutzman pointed out in multiple follow-up videos, earning his rate takes patience.

According to one of those clips, it took almost six years before he was offered a full time position, followed by a four year progression of wage increases until he started earning what he earns today. That’s around a decade, which one person pointed out was around the same time it takes to become a doctor.

Stutzman added that, depending on the location, you would be required to work in a UPS warehouse before working as a driver. So while his paycheck might have you considering taking on the job yourself, just know that it’s not exactly taking the easy route. And we haven’t even touched on the amount of manual labor that goes into the job…rain or shine.

Stutzman also said that he shared his current paycheck in the spirit of transparency, which is a value that the teamsters upheld as they fought for increased wages and better working conditions earlier this year.

@skylerleestutzman Here are my THEORETICAL thoughts… “Why would you show your paystub like that?” #upsdriver #ups #upswages #teamster #upspay ♬ original sound – Skyler Stutzman

After months of tense negotiations, as well as a threat to enact what would have been the largest single employer strike in U.S. history, disrupting deliveries across the country, the postal workers union reached an agreement with UPS.

The deal included air conditioning and ventilation improvements to delivery vehicles as well as full-time UPS drivers earning an average of $170,000 in annual pay, plus benefits. By the end of the contract, part-time union drivers would also make at least $25.75 per hour while receiving full health care and pension benefits,” according to UPS CEO Carol Tomé.

From Stutzman’s perspective, his earnings shouldn’t cause envy among those in other industries, but reflect a shared need for increased wages across the board to keep up with inflation.

Big takeaways here: earning good money doesn’t always require a degree, unions are powerful, don’t underestimate the value of skilled labor…and UPS drivers deserve respect.

American mom living in Sweden was reprimanded for swaddling her newborn at the hospital

Americans collectively gasp reading that swaddling is frowned upon in Sweden. In the United States one of the first things the hospital does after a baby is born is to swaddle the newborn nice and snug in a receiving blanket, completing the look with a tiny hat. New moms practice swaddling on unsuspecting cats or teddy bears in preparation for the baby’s arrival.

Imagine the surprise of an American mom that gave birth in Sweden being told to never swaddle her baby again. Surely the midwife must’ve been mistaken, assuming something else was going on. Miranda Hudgens recently posted a reenactment of her experience giving birth at a Swedish hospital to social media where it went viral.

In the video, Hudgens is holding her swaddled baby when the midwife comes in and asks what she’s doing, while looking disgusted. The mom explains she’s swaddling the baby. Shortly after the midwife leaves, Hudgens’ husband tells her that the midwife said “not to do that to the baby anymore.”

When the new mom inquires why she isn’t allowed to swaddle the baby, her husband responds, “she said it could kill the baby. Yeah, she said we don’t do that to babies in this country.”

This is the complete opposite of what Americans are taught. Swaddling is seen as a means to help the baby feel secure and calm but in Sweden it’s viewed as a dangerous practice. In the comments one mom gave insight into the reason swaddling is discouraged in the nordic country.

“I was reprimanded for it here in Sweden. She said that swaddling = too deep sleep = increased risk for SIDS,” the commenter reveals.

Sudden Infant Death Syndrome (SIDS) is an area that is continually being researched and while there are factors that increase the chances of SIDS, there is currently no definitive cause. When it comes to swaddling, the increase of SIDS and suffocation increase if the swaddled baby is placed on its stomach to sleep according to Children’s Hospital Los Angeles|The Saban Research Institute.

In another study published by the National Library of Medicine, points out that the previous study that stated swaddling increases the risk of SIDS was not peer reviewed and did not provide information on if the swaddled babies were placed on their stomachs or backs for sleep.

@mirandapandz

And this is how I found out the Swaddling is super frowned up in Sweden #swedenvsusa #americanlivinginsweden #newmom #deliveryroomstories #swaddlingbaby #swaddling #firsttimemom

In the end Hudgens decided not to swaddle, “for those wondering I decided not to swaddle after leaving the hospital and doing more research. The midwife could of been nicer though.”

Every parent has to do what they think is best with the information they have. Child birthing and child rearing practices can vary widely from country to country. While in Sweden they frown upon swaddling, co-sleeping with babies until they’re school age is commonly practiced. But in America co-sleeping is strongly discouraged while swaddling is commonly practiced.

It’s also normal for people in Scandinavian countries to leave their babies outside in freezing temperatures, whereas in America that would be considered neglect. So while it can be shocking to find out what people do in other countries and cultures, it’s important to remember not to compare. Everybody’s just doing the best that they can with children that are all going to grow into toddlers that eat lint covered snacks they found under the couch.

Raveena Taps An Unexpected Guest Star, Jpegmafia, On Her New Single, ‘Junebug’

If there are two names who’d seem like stylistic opposites, Raveena and Jpegmafia would fit the bill. One’s a dreamy, mellow pop-soul singer who’s deeply in touch with her spirituality. The other’s a raw force of chaos whose last album cheekily nodded at the jest that his music is best for Scaring The Hoes. Somehow, on Raveena’s new single “Junebug,” they actually form a surprising chemical bond that turns out to blend better than you might expect. A big part of that is Peggy toning his energy way down and riding the jazzy groove like he stepped straight out of hip-hop’s Golden Era.

The track is the latest single from Raveena’s upcoming album Where The Butterflies Go In The Rain, and like its predecessors, continues the running theme of transformation (and bug references). In the video for “Pluto,” Raveena turns into a butterfly, while in the video for “Lucky,” she romances a giant caterpillar(?) that eventually also metamorphoses into a butterfly.

In a statement, Raveena explained the unexpected collaboration, saying, “I love inviting people with vastly different sonic landscapes to my music. To me, it is proof of our oneness and divine inter-connectedness. Jpegmafia brought the perfect energy to this summertime song — and I think we both aligned on this song with our mutual love for the tropics, with me being from India and Peggy from Jamaica.”

Listen to “Junebug” above. Where The Butterflies Go In The Rain is due on June 14 via Empire Records.

The WNBA Rescinded Angel Reese’s Second Technical For Waving Her Hand At A Ref

angel-reese-ref
Getty Image

Angel Reese’s night ended early on Tuesday as the Chicago Sky hosted the New York Liberty, as the rookie star got ejected for two extremely quick (and soft) technical fouls in the fourth quarter.

Reese apparently said “that’s bulls**t” to the ref about the initial foul called on her, earning the first T, and got tossed for waving her hand at the ref in disgust, with the pool report confirming the second T was for the very minimal gesture.

The ejection was so stunning that even her opponents were confused, with Sabrina Ionescu being shocked Reese got tossed for such a mild reaction. Lonzo Ball, enjoying the game courtside, called out the ref who made the call on Twitter and told Reese to save her money by letting him get on the official for her. On Wednesday, the WNBA quickly rescinded the second T, as even the league understands waving off the ref is not worthy of a technical foul.

Now, that doesn’t help the Sky in the sense that they had to play out the end of the game without Reese, but it does take a T off of Reese’s season-long technical foul count and also takes away the fine associated with it. As happens sometimes in the NBA, the league probably needs to have a quick discussion with the officials about what constitutes a justified T, and note that, like being stared at, getting waved away doesn’t meet that criteria.
