When (And Where) Will ‘Inside Out 2’ Be On Streaming?

inside out 2
pixar

Inside Out 2 has been out for less than two weeks, and it’s already the highest-grossing movie of 2024. Only one film released since the start of the pandemic has made more money in its first 10 days of release than the Inside Out sequel: 2021’s Spider-Man: No Way Home. Yes, it even edged out Barbie (future historians are going to look back at the public’s shrugging reaction to Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga and wonder what the heck happened).

Inside Out 2 is going to play in theaters for months to come (kids have to learn about the concept of anxiety and ennui eventually), but a Disney+ debut is coming… eventually. Disney reportedly had enough faith in the animated film to give it a rare 100-day theatrical run, so once the 100 days are over, that’s when it will land on the streaming service.

You can likely expect Inside Out 2 on Disney+ in September 2024, at the earliest.

Here’s more:

Inside Out 2 returns to the mind of newly minted teenager Riley just as headquarters is undergoing a sudden demolition to make room for something entirely unexpected: new Emotions! Joy, Sadness, Anger, Fear, and Disgust, who’ve long been running a successful operation by all accounts, aren’t sure how to feel when Anxiety shows up. And it looks like she’s not alone.

While waiting for Inside Out 2 to premiere on Disney+, why not watch WALL-E again? It’s still a masterpiece.

‘The Sopranos’ Star Drea De Matteo Got Real On Why She Joined OnlyFans In A New Documentary

adriana sopranos
hbo

TMZ recently released a documentary, TMZ Presents: Famous & Naked, about celebrities who are “showing it all online and raking in fortunes.” Back in my day, you had sit next to a total stranger during an 11:30 a.m. matinee screening of The Pillow Book to see Ewan McGregor in his birthday suit, and that’s the way we liked it. Anyway, one of the subjects in the doc is Drea de Matteo, the Emmy-winning The Sopranos actress who is making way more money on OnlyFans than she ever did on one of the best shows of all-time.

“Why did I join OnlyFans?” she asks in Famous & Naked, according to Decider. “When we launched, we had, I would say, a couple hundred bucks left in the bank, I’m not kidding.” She continues, “Did I do it out of desperation? Fuck yes I did. Did I think it would empower me just to be on OnlyFans? No, that wasn’t the fucking point. It empowered me to take care of my family.”

de Matteo hasn’t said how much dough she’s making, but her account has over 154,000 likes. If even half that many people subscribed at the monthly rate of $15, she would be earning over a million bucks every 30 days or so. But outside of the financial benefits, there’s another reason why de Matteo signed up. “There’s a lot of shifty sh*t that goes on in Hollywood,” she said. “It’s about freedom. And I don’t have to answer to f*cking anybody right now.”

You can watch TMZ Presents: Famous & Naked on Tubi.

All The Best New Music From This Week

Jamie xx, Petey, and King Krule(1024x450)

Indie music has grown to include so much. It’s not just music that is released on independent labels, but speaks to an aesthetic that deviates from the norm and follows its own weirdo heart. It can come in the form of rock music, pop, or folk. In a sense, it says as much about the people that are drawn to it as it does about the people that make it.

Every week, Uproxx is rounding up the best new indie music from the past seven days. This week, we got new music from Jamie xx, Trace Mountains, and more.

While we’re at it, sign up for our newsletter to get the best new indie music delivered directly to your inbox, every Monday.

Trace Mountains – “Sick Of Myself”

Back in May, LVL UP announced that they were reuniting after they broke up in 2018. In the meantime, its members have pursued music of their own, and Dave Benton has been making heartland-friendly indie folk under the moniker Trace Mountains. Benton has shared “Sick Of Myself,” a cover of the 1995 Matthew Sweet tune that trades in its ebullient guitars and hard-hitting drums for smooth piano chords and subtle shakers. It’s a tune that Benton has gorgeously reimagined, casting Sweet’s tale of self-deprecating love in a new light.

Cold Cave – “Hourglass”

New wave duo Cold Cave have been releasing a new song on the 15th of every month, and it has now become something to look forward to, even if there has been no mention of a follow-up to 2021’s Fate In Seven Lessons. All the songs have been great, and “Hourglass,” the latest entry to this ad hoc singles series, maintains that streak. Conjuring the dance-leaning sensibilities of New Order and the moodiness of Echo & The Bunnymen, Cold Cave delivers once again with “Hourglass.”

Jamie xx – “Life”

Robyn hasn’t been up to much since her 2018 album, Honey. So it’s nice to see that she has returned to the fold on songs like a remix of Charli XCX’s “360” and, now, Jamie xx’s “Life.” As the latest preview of Jamie’s long-awaited second record, In Waves, “Life” keeps the dancefloor moving with a groovy bassline and a sample that commands you to “make it last all night.” You could say it gives you life.

Horse Jumper Of Love – “Snow Angel”

The new Horse Jumper Of Love album, Disaster Trick, seems to be shaping up quite nicely. On the previous single, “Wink,” the Boston trio recruited Wednesday frontwoman Karly Hartzman, and now they’ve worked with Wednesday guitarist (and solo artist in his own right) MJ Lenderman for “Snow Angel.” Also featuring Squirrel Flower’s Ella Williams, Horse Jumper Of Love creates a stirring storm of noisy guitars on their latest single.

Why Bonnie – “Fake Out”

On Why Bonnie’s debut album, 2022’s 90 In November, ringleader Blair Howerton relished in the quaint, folk-influenced atmospheres of her native Texas. Whereas Howerton’s previous endeavor embraced quietude, “Fake Out,” the new single from Why Bonnie’s forthcoming second album, sees her opening her sound while retaining her penchant for tender songwriting. “Fake Out” incorporates electric guitars and a lively drum performance, not serving as focal points so much as garnishes for the foundational warmth that has become an integral ingredient of Howerton’s work.

Ed Schrader’s Music Beat – “Daylight Commander”

Having made a name for themselves in the early 2010s DIY scene in Baltimore, Ed Schrader’s Music Beat have since maintained a consistency for inconsistency. Not content to play it safe and stick to what they already know, the duo comprising vocalist Ed Schrader and bassist Devlin Rice have constantly shape-shifted to explore new sonic territories. They swapped in the post-punk of 2018’s Riddles for hooky disco-rock on 2022’s Nightclub Daydreaming, and on “Daylight Commander,” they go for straightforward indie rock festooned with synths and Schrader’s caterwauling vocals. It’s another wondrous surprise from a band full of them.

Jane Remover – “Nasty – Match My Tweak Remix”

Tinashe has been on a huge run recently. Her single “Nasty” has gone viral on TikTok, and she quickly built on the hype with a new remix EP. There are remixes from DJ Tunez, Wuki, and UNIIQU3, but the standout comes from Jane Remover, who has become one of digicore’s most exciting new artists since her 2021 debut album, Frailty. Officially dubbed the “Match My Tweak Remix,” Jane Remover appropriately matches Tinashe’s freak with rapid-fire electronic drums and glitched-out sampling that wouldn’t sound out of place on a proper Jane Remover song.

The Dare – “Perfume”

The contemporary king of “indie sleaze,” The Dare, is on the precipice of sharing his debut album. “Perfume,” the single that comes alongside the announcement, perfectly captures the echoes of LCD Soundsystem latent in Harrison Patrick Smith’s music. Like Smith’s recent production work on Charli XCX’s “Guess,” it’s a brief yet booming track primed for a sweaty club.

King Krule – Shhhhhhh!

When Archy Marshall was touring behind the latest King Krule album, 2023’s excellent Space Heavy, the English songwriter sold a handful of flexi discs with four unreleased songs. Those songs, now officially released on the humorously titled EP SHHHHHHH!, dive deeper into the dark-wave stylings he favored on his most recent LP. From the crunchy guitars of “Time For Slurp” to the warbly jazz of “Whaleshark,” King Krule shows he’s capable of demonstrating his impressive range on even a brief, 12-minute EP.

Petey – The Closest Thing To Being Over Is Going On

Last year, the mononymous Petey shared his album, USA, and now he’s back with an EP that includes a brand-new single, “The River,” and four acoustic renderings of songs from that album. Alongside artists like Sir Chloe and Owen (AKA Mike Kinsella), Petey gorgeously reimagines the pop-punk stylings of the original material.

‘The Abandons’ Season 1: Everything You Need To Know For Kurt Sutter’s Return To TV (Update For June 2024)

kurt-sutter-top.jpg
Getty Image

Sons of Anarchy creator Kurt Sutter’s biker-focused universe (apparently) came to a fittingly shattering end on FX with Mayans M.C., and through his Sutterink umbrella, he’s now moving onto Netflix with The Abandons. After a lengthy, strike-interrupted warmup, the show recently began filming in Calvary as a Western action-drama that has happens to be brewing around the same time that Taylor Sheridan’s many cowboy-focused shows are dominating Paramount+ and Peacock.

Of course, Sutter fans realize that Sheridan came into the TV viewerships’ eye as Deputy Hale on FX, but don’t expect a meeting of the minds here. We will, however, see some familiar faces from the Sons of Anarchy realm surface, so let’s get down to business on what to expect from the next Sutter series.

Plot

The Abandons will revolve around renegade families surviving on the harsh frontier in the 1850s, but of course, people will probably be an even greater threat than unforgiving natural conditions. A huge driving force of the tension will be a feud between two powerful matriarchs, and this Western series will examine how these families come together as a larger makeshift family to battle corrupt forces and damaging secrets. The show will also along dance along the lines of good and evil and delve into “the consequences of violence.”

As Sutter recently told Tudum, “I am fascinated by the metamorphosis of good into evil.” He also added the the show will illustrate “what must transpire to drive the morally sound to become the dangerously corrupt,” and “The Abandons explores those complex compromises through the most powerful human instinct — the love and protection of mothers.”

An expansive cast, detailed below, not only includes Gillian Anderson and Lena Headey (as the feuding matriarchs) but also Ryan Hurst and Clayton Cardenas because of course this show needs some reminders of biker flavor. Netflix and Sutter shared these photos, and yep, there’s Opie:

Sutter has also hinted that the series could include Billy The Kid if the series continues for multiple seasons. Here’s a plot synopsis:

“As a group of diverse, outlier families pursue their Manifest Destiny in 1850s Oregon, a corrupt force of wealth and power, coveting their land, tries to force them out. These abandoned souls, the kind of lost souls living on the fringe of society, unite their tribes to form a family and fight back. In this bloody process, ‘justice’ is stretched beyond the boundaries of the law. The Abandons will explore that fine line between survival and law, the consequences of violence, and the corrosive power of secrets, as this family fights to keep their land.”

Cast

A vast ensemble cast will crash onto TV screens for this series. Early announcements included Gillian Anderson and Lena Headey, who will both a “different strong-willed matriarch,” which is a Sutter speciality throughout his creations. In Headey’s case, her character (Fiona Nolan) is the adoptive mother of four orphans, and Gillian’s character (Constance Van Ness) will wield a mining fortune that she doubled after the death of her husband.

Additionally, we can expect to see faces from Sons of Anarchy, including Ryan Hurst (RIP Opie) and Michael Ornstein, and Mayans M.C., including Clayton Cardenas. Patton Oswalt will also co-star along with Nick Robinson, Diana Silvers, Lucas Till, Lamar Johnson, Brían F. O’Byrne, Aisling Franciosi, Natalia del Riego, Elle-Máijá Tailfeathers, Sarah Grace White, Michael Greyeyes, Haig Sutherland, Jack Doolan, Jonathan Koensgen, Katelyn Wells, Marc Menchaca, Michiel Huisman, and Toby Hemingway.

Release Date

The new era of Sutterink won’t stream on Netflix until sometime in 2025, but this will be an event when it materializes in living rooms.

Trailer

Since we probably won’t see a trailer for awhile, it’s worth looking back on the deaths that Kurt Sutter delivers to characters. In particular, here’s Theo Rossi talking about how Sons of Anarchy fans love to talk to him about pie. And yes, they discussed the issue on Kurt and Katey Sagal’s Pie podcast.

All The Best New Pop Music From This Week

charlie_XCX_lorde_Paris_hilton(1024x450)
Getty Image/Merle Cooper

Pop’s perennial hitmakers came correct. Last week’s offerings were defined by collaborations and remixes. Charli XCX and Lorde worked it out on the remix. Ariana Grande, Brandy, and Monica brought “The Boy Is Mine” full circle. Gracie Abrams, whom Uproxx recently profiled, welcomed Taylor Swift on to Track 5 of her The Secret Of Us album, but perhaps the most surprising collaboration of the week was Paris Hilton and Rina Sawayama?

Check out all of that and more in Uproxx’s Best New Pop Music roundup below.

Charli XCX & Lorde — “Girl, So Confusing”

Before Brat released, Charli XCX declined to confirm whom “Girl, So Confusing” is about, but the widespread assumption was Lorde. That hunch was confirmed with “The Girl, So Confusing Version With Lorde,” effectively clearing the air between them. Lorde’s verse is so brave, which seems like a trite descriptor, but it is. Lorde sings of being oblivious to Charli’s feelings toward her because she had been “so lost in my head” and “at war in my body.” The song is still a club banger, but now it’s also a poignant reflection on perceived envy and silent self-consciousness.

Gracie Abrams Feat. Taylor Swift — “Us”

Taylor Swift’s Track 5 lore is rich, but it’s richer now that Gracie Abrams carried on the tradition to her sophomore album, The Secret Of Us. According to this fantastic video posted by Abrams, “Us” featuring Swift was written between 2 a.m. to 6 a.m. and involved Swift using a fire extinguisher. The best part is that such an epic backstory pales in comparison to Abrams’ and Swift’s stunning duet, which they performed for the first time at Swift’s third London The Eras Tour show on Sunday, June 23.

NewJeans — “Supernatural”

NewJeans’ “Supernatural” possesses the superpower of time travel, as Pharrell co-produced and co-wrote the song that drew from his production on Manami’s “Back Of My Mind” from 2009. “Supernatural” feels simultaneously nostalgic and timeless in all of its all-consuming, love-drunk glory. The song is billed as a “double album single” alongside the previously released “Right Now” and its Takashi Murakami-directed video.

Ariana Grande, Brandy & Monica — “The Boy Is Mine (Remix)”

The anonymous boy at the heart of “The Boy Is Mine (Remix)” is the least relevant participant. Grande honored Brandy and Monica’s original 1998 chart-topper on the Eternal Sunshine tracklist because she’d “always wanted to re-imagine” it, and she was honored to have Brandy and Monica boost the remix. The process was cathartic for everyone involved, as Monica told Entertainment Tonight, “The process of the new collaboration did a lot of closing the gaps” between her and Brandy. She additionally noted she “fell in love” with Grande and Max Martin’s reimagined version of a song she used to believe “should not be touched.” Same, Monica.

Post Malone Feat. Blake Shelton — “Pour Me A Drink”

“Fourty hours got me goin’ out my mind / Dallas dropped another game in overtime,” Post Malone sings to open “Pour Me A Drink,” so at least one interpretation of Post’s latest country song must be that the Dallas Cowboys drove Post Malone to alcoholism. Cowboys fandom will do that. Beyond that, “Pour Me A Drink” further proves that Post seamlessly fits into country, and it would be entirely unsurprising if F-1 Trillion album, his newly announced album, becomes the biggest release of his career.

Maren Morris & Julia Michaels — “Cut!”

Maren Morris and Julia Michaels hold it together until they combust on “Cut!” The uninhibited pop single is as relatable as they come, as Morris chronicles all the ways in which she keeps up appearances (“Clear mind from therapy / Yoga four days a week / How does she do it?”) for everyone else but refuses to lie to herself once she’s alone (“I’m screaming, ‘Cut’ / “I need a moment to just / Let my tears fall where they want / Honestly, f*ck.” And honestly, the next time someone asks me why I’m such a mess, I plan to respond with, “Every good show / Just needs an intermission.” Morris will release her five-song EP Intermission on August 2.

Suki Waterhouse — “Supersad”

Last week, Suki Waterhouse announced Memoir Of A Sparklemuffin will be released on September 13. “Supersad” initiated the proceedings. “I tried to write a nineties song you could hear playing at the mall in Clueless or as an opening track for Legally Blonde,” Waterhouse said in a press release statement. And now I can’t stop wishing the song was on a nineties rom-com soundtrack.

Paris Hilton Feat. Rina Sawayama — “I’m Free”

A new Paris Hilton song would be exciting. A new Rina Sawayama song would be exciting. So, by definition, Hilton’s “I’m Free” featuring Sawayama is a treat. The lighthearted, club-ready single holds deeper meaning for Hilton, who said in a statement, “A song can change your life, and that’s what ‘Free’ by Ultra Naté did for me. I heard it for the first time at a club in New York City shortly after being released from the Provo Canyon School where I experienced mental and physical abuse.” It’s a resonant first taste from Hilton’s Infinite Icon album due out on September 6.

NIKI — “Blue Moon”

NIKI will drop Buzz, her third LP, on August 9, and that dates feels too far away after hearing “Blue Moon.” The slow-building, melodic single finds NIKI alone and lamenting meeting someone “just a little too soon / On the wrong blue moon.” Her controlled vocals help her intricate lyrics (“Take it from the wolves / To make it out the woods together is an art / We couldn’t do such a thing”) hit soft enough for the listener to truly soak in the devastating reality of having to reconcile circumstances out of her control.

Zedd Feat. Bea Miller — “Out Of Time”

“Out Of Time” was a longtime coming — the longest lead time of any Zedd song, actually. “I started writing ‘Out Of Time’ back in 2015, making it the longest time I’ve ever worked on a song,” the Grammy-winning DJ said in a statement. “It was and still is one of my favorite compositions I’ve ever created.” Zedd described Bea Miller as “the missing piece of the puzzle,” and it’s true: Miller’s exquisitely voice complements Zedd’s swelling electro sonic palette. “Out Of Time” is the first single released ahead of Telos, Zedd’s first full-length album since 2015.

‘House Of The Dragon’ Fans Are Coming To The Support Of Fabien Frankel After He Received Vile Comments For Playing The Show’s Most Hated Character

criston cole
hbo

One frustrating hallmark of internet fandom is that a lot of people can’t separate fact from fiction. Take Fabien Frankel, for instance.

He’s the actor who plays Criston Cole on HBO’s House of the Dragon. Following the latest episode, in which Criston got promoted to Hand by Aegon II even though he was too busy schupting the king’s mom an episode prior to prevent the death of Jaehaerys, he had to limit replies on his Instagram because of the threats he was receiving from so-called “fans.” Comments like, “Man I hope someone jumps this guy” and “I hate you,” according to screenshots.

It’s pretty nasty.

You know why House of the Dragon viewers hate Criston Cole? Because he sucks, sure, but also because Frankel is a good actor! You’re supposed to hate that failing-upwards hunk, and Frankel plays him with the right amount of pathetic rage! The only good thing to come from the vile comments going viral is that there’s since been an outpouring of support for Frankel on social media.

“the way yall cannot separate an actor from a character!!!!!!! fabien frankel is so sweet and truly a very nice human and this is ridiculous,” one user on X wrote, while another added, “I despise when people do this. Please take a step back and instead hype Fabien Frankel up for his incredible job as Criston Cole. You hate his character for a reason. The performances being giving in House of the Dragon are amazing.” They’re right to say it.

Here’s more:

Interestingly, actor Jack Gleeson, who played the even-more-despised Joffrey Baratheon on Game of Thrones, didn’t face this issue. “Thankfully, I’ve never had any negative fan experiences or anything…. There’s still a chance, if anybody wants to throw a punch,” he said at the Game of Thrones Convention in 2022. “A lot of people come up to me because I guess this rumor started that people were horrible to me on the street or I get attacked… whereas I’ve never had one negative experience.” Still, maybe he can give Frankel some advice on dealing with internet weirdos.

New episodes of House of the Dragon air Sundays on HBO and Max.

Shifty Shellshock Of ‘Butterfly’ Band Crazy Town Is Dead At 49

Seth Brooks Binzer, better known as Crazy Town leader Shifty Shellshock, is dead at at 49 years old.

As Variety notes, according to the Los Angeles County Medical Examiner’s website, the musician died at his home on Monday, June 25. A cause of death has not yet been revealed.

Rap-rock band Crazy Town formed in the mid-1990s and had immediate success with their debut album, 1999’s The Gift Of Game. It was top-10 in the US and it spawned the Billboard Hot 100 No. 1 hit “Butterfly,” the group’s signature song (that’s based on a sample of Red Hot Chili Peppers’ “Pretty Little Ditty”).

The band broke up following the release of its less successful sophomore album, 2002’s Darkhorse. The group reunited in 2007, though, and in 2015, release their third album, The Brimstone Sluggers. In 2017, following the departure of Bret “Epic” Mazur, the group changed its name to Crazy Town X.

In a 2000 interview, Binzer said of his band’s music, “We’re just having a good time. We’re not like political or anything. I can be very sarcastic just like a little punk, we talk a lot of trash. We have some points, like ‘learn from your mistakes,’ ‘check yourself,’ you know, ‘don’t get taken advantage of.’ Real simple things, nothing too overwhelming.”
