Which Artists Appear On The ‘Bridgerton Season 3 Part 2’ Soundtrack?

bridgerton-s3-2-lg
Netflix

Just like how having slowed down versions of classic rock songs was the trendy thing to do in the trailers of the early 2000s, having orchestral arrangements of your favorite pop songs is the latest way to be on-trend.

Bridgerton didn’t invent the orchestral cover, but it sure did popularize it. The Netflix series has featured covers of iconic pop songs since its first season in 2020, and now for the second part of season three, there will be a whole new batch of regal covers heading to your ears.

The budding love story between Colin and Penelope, among the rest of the royal drama, will be accompanied by the following covers:

Ariana Grande, “POV”
Coldplay, “Yellow ”
Demi Lovato, “Confident”
Ellie Goulding, “Lights”
Imagine Dragons, “Thunder”
Taylor Swift, “You Belong With Me”

Netflix also dropped “All I Want” the first original song for the series performed by Tori Kelly.

Of the iconic covers, Music Supervisor Justin Kamps told Netflix that it helps connect the audience with the story. “It’s a good link for everyone to instantly recognize their own feelings in these characters that are in a very different environment than they are. But these songs that people know immediately help connect you even more to these characters. And, obviously, they’re all dealing with feelings that everyone still deals with now,” he explained. “I feel like that added level of the covers just helps bring people in even more and just gives it such a unique style for these dance sequences.”

Bridgerton season three Part 2 comes out on June 13.

Is ‘Dancing For The Devil: The 7M TikTok Cult’ A True Story?

dancing
Netflix

The Netflix doc Dancing For The Devil might start out with just a carefree group of TikTok dancers, but the actual story is just as heartbreaking as it is real (and currently ongoing).

The three-episode docuseries first introduces the world to 7M, a management company that helps TikTok dancers and influencers earn money via brand deals and other opportunities. The company was started in 2021 by Robert Shinn, a Los Angeles-based pastor and leader of the Shekinah Church. This is where things get dicey.

According to the documentary, not only was Shinn pocketing hundreds of thousands of dollars from his talent, but he also forced the young dancers to cut off their family and friends, including Miranda Wilking of the TikTok-famous Wilking sisters. The Wilkings are a main part of the docuseries and to this day are still fighting to get their daughter back home.

What have the members said? Not much. In fact, a lot of the 7M members are still a part of the cult. The Instagram account Exposing7M shows just how many people are involved in both 7M and the Shekinah Church, which has been around since 1994.

In response to the documentary, Miranda Wilking has posted the following on Instagram: “I have been getting together with my family for the past couple of years, privately, to work on our relationship, to make things right, to mend what has been broken. I’ve been loving getting together, laughing, just enjoying each other’s company. And this documentary has made it very difficult to continue doing that.”

Meanwhile, the dancers who have left are grateful for the documentary. Former member Kiley Douglas told Netflix, “I’m hoping that the dancers still in the management group and still in Shekinah will be able to see this documentary. I’m not sure if it will be hidden from them. Maybe they’re not allowed to watch it, but I’m hoping that they do and that maybe it will spark some questions in their minds and have them rethink about their lives before, as well as what their lives could be after this group.”

It’s not just TikTokers who fell victim to the cult: Dancing For The Devil also follows various former members who spent decades following Robert Shinn. At least three members of the organization also accused Shinn of sexual misconduct. No criminal charges have been filed against Shinn at this time, and he is still managing dozens of young talent.

Dancing For The Devil is currently streaming on Netflix.

Miley Cyrus Plays Role Reversal In A Teaser For Season 5 Of David Letterman’s ‘My Next Guest Needs No Introduction’

David Letterman‘s Netflix show My Next Guest Needs No Introduction is returning for its fifth season this week, and in true Letterman fashion, he shakes up the form in a teaser for the first episode, featuring Miley Cyrus. In a clip from the upcoming episode, Cyrus steps on stage and introduces Letterman instead of the other way around, playing role reversal for what should be a fascinating conversation that shakes up talk show conventions. “I like to do things my own way,” Miley explained. “I turned it around on him and said, ‘You can be in my show.”

Over the course of Letterman’s show, he’s interviewed such luminaries as Ukrainian president Volodymyr Zelenskyy, Will Smith, Billie Eilish, and Cardi B, among others.

The last season of the show aired in 2022, although earlier this year, Letterman did a special episode with John Mulaney, who recently tried his own hand at a talk show for Netflix (unfortunately for those delighted by the hilariously unhinged Everybody’s In LA, he has no plans to continue).

Letterman’s conversation with Cyrus will be their first televised interview since 2010, when the then-17-year-old Miley was rolling out her third studio album Can’t Be Tamed. Letterman retired from The Late Show in 2015, starting his new show with Netflix in 2018.

You can watch the teaser for season 5 of My Next Guest Needs No Introduction above. Season 5 debuts June 12.

Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson smashed up his elbow while filming The Smashing Machine. “Look at that sucker right there,” the star of A24‘s mixed martial arts drama directed by Benny Safdie said in a video posted to Instagram. “It looks like I have a cantaloupe in the bottom of my elbow. I got banged up pretty good today in our scenes, and there might be some soft tissue damage in there. That’s a lot of fluid, we’ll see. I’ve got to get it out of there first before I can get any kind of MRI.”

The wrestler-turned-actor shared the “rub some dirt in it”-like advice he used to get from his late father, Rocky Johnson.

“He always used to say, ‘A day without pain is like a day without sunshine, boy,’” Johnson said before asking his followers for any advice on how to treat the injury. “I’ve been banged up in the past before, I’ve had injuries before… but if you guys have any advanced advice on some great anti-inflammatories, please let me know.”

The video then turned into a promo for his Teremana Tequila (“This might be my favorite anti-inflammatory”), because The Rock is always on — even when he has to take a few days off.

You can watch the kitchen-shot Instagram video below, although beware, his elbow looks very… squishy.

Along with The Rock, who is portrays former MMA champ Mark Kerr, The Smashing Machine also stars Emily Blunt. It does not currently have a release date.

Matt Smith Didn’t Miss A Beat While Correcting A Reporter On ‘House Of The Dragon’ Co-Star Emma D’Arcy’s Pronouns

Matt Smith Emm D'Arcy House of the Dragon
HBO

It’s almost dragon time, as season two of House of the Dragon is set to premiere this weekend, and fans will finally get what they’ve been eagerly waiting for for nearly two years: more Matt Smith interviews! It’s been far too long since we’ve gotten some of those.

At the London premiere for the series, Smith was speaking with English TV presenter Sue Perkins when Perkins mentioned interviewing Emma D’Arcy and that “she gave you all the credit” for the infamous season one finale which sets the scene for season two. D’Arcy, who plays Rhaenyra Targaryen, is nonbinary and has spoken in the past about using them/them pronouns.

Smith seamlessly responded “I can’t take the credit, [but] I have to say, aren’t they brilliant?” he said before adding, “They are absolutely brilliant and you’re in for a real treat with Emma this year, I think Emma’s put in… a really great performance,” Smith added.

Perkins, a comedian and former host of The Great British Bake Off, was criticized online after the clip made the rounds, and she apologized on X, “It was a sh*tty mistake. Had loads of stuff going on in my earpiece and so wasn’t as focused as I should have been. No excuses though. These things matter and I feel terrible about it. Am a massive fan of their work and would never want to be disrespectful x.”

House of the Dragon will return for a dragon-centric second season this Sunday, June 16th on HBO and Max.

Charli XCX Put Together A Collection Of Her Favorite ‘Brat’ Movies

Charli XCX Press Image 2024
Harley Weir

As part of the rollout for her new album, Brat, Charli XCX worked with New York City’s Roxy Cinema on a screening series of her favorite “brat” movies. The bratty collection includes Velvet Goldmine, director Todd Haynes’ exploration of the glam-rock scene; Party Girl, starring the always-delightful Parker Posey; erotic thriller To Die For with Nicole Kidman, Joaquin Phoenix; and Matt Dillon; and found-footage teen comedy Project X, which surprisingly isn’t the title of an early Charli XCX EP.

“They all have a brat like energy to them,” Charli explained when asked why she picked these films. “I’m not really inspired by other music when I make my albums. I’m more inspired by an atmosphere or a feeling or a persona. To me character and personality is the backbone to good music and artistry. If there’s no persona there’s just a song. It’s 2 dimensional, it’s flat. So all of these films in some way link to the world of brat.”

Here’s the full lineup, along with the synopsis:

PARTY MONSTER
“Based on the true story of Michael Alig, a Club Kid party organizer who bragged on television about killing his drug dealer and roommate.”

DAISIES
“After realizing that all world is spoiled, Marie and Marie are committed to be spoiled themselves. They rip off older men, feast in lavish meals and do all kinds of mischief. But what is all this leading to?”

VELVET GOLDMINE
“In 1984, British journalist Arthur Stuart investigates the career of 1970s glam superstar Brian Slade, who was heavily influenced in his early years by hard-living and rebellious American singer Curt Wild.”

PARTY GIRL
“A 20-something, irresponsible party girl is bailed out of jail by her librarian godmother. To repay the loan, she starts working at the library and gradually turns her life around.”

TO DIE FOR
“Suzanne Stone is a weather reporter at her small-town cable station, but she dreams of being a big-time news anchor. However, she feels that her middle-class husband is holding her back, so she decides to have him murdered.”

PROJECT X
“Three high-school seniors throw a birthday party to make a name for themselves. As the night progresses, things spiral out of control as word of the party spreads.”

A CROSS THE UNIVERSE
A Cross the Universe is a documentary following the French EDM duo Justice touring North America.”

The Roxy Cinema noted that Charli also wanted to include “WILD CHILD, HUMAN TRAFFIC, MODULATIONS, BASIC INSTINCT, YANNICK, and INTIMATE CONFESSIONS OF A CHINESE COURTESAN,” but obtaining the screening rights would have been a challenge. Still! It’s a great lineup!

You can find screening information here.

Kristaps Porzingis Is Day-To-Day After Suffering A ‘Rare Injury’ In His Left Leg

Kristaps Porzingis has been magnificent on both ends of the floor for the Boston Celtics through the first two games of the 2024 NBA Finals, as the big man hasn’t shown any rust against the Dallas Mavericks after missing most of the first three rounds due to a calf injury. But in the second half of Game 2, Porzingis started to move a bit gingerly, and there were questions about whether he aggravated something with his calf.

The good news for Boston is that Porzingis didn’t do that, but the bad news is that the big man is banged up. In a statement released by the team on Tuesday afternoon, the Celtics announced that Porzingis suffered a “rare injury.”

“Celtics Center Kristaps Porzingis suffered a torn medial retinaculum allowing dislocation of the posterior tibialis tendon in his left leg at 3:27 of the third quarter of Game 2,” the team said. “The injury is unrelated to Porzingis’s prior right calf injury. After consultation with numerous specialists regarding this rare injury, his availability for upcoming games will be determined day-to-day.”

Celtics coach Joe Mazzulla spoke to reporters about the injury, which he classified as “serious.” But despite that, Porzingis is doing what he has to do to try and play.

“Obviously something happened a little bit, but I have a couple of days again, and believe me, we will do everything we can to be back and moving well,” Porzingis said after Game 2 before telling the press that “I’ll die out there if we need.”

Porzingis addressed the injury with the press on Tuesday and made clear that the Celtics doctors are the only ones who can keep him from taking the floor.

Game 3 between the Celtics and the Mavs will take place in Dallas on Wednesday night.

Gold Branch Trail

Length: 3.4 miles
Difficulty: Moderate

A bit further out from Atlanta is the Gold Branch Trail, known for its scenic beauty and moderately challenging terrain due to some steep side slopes with rocky surfaces in places. Hikers will explore the terrain along the banks of the Chattahoochee River and the shores of Bull Sluice Lake, which has plenty of plants and wildlife to marvel at.

BIKE:

Trails designated for cycling aren’t as abundant as some other activities here, but there are still great options for road cyclists and mountain bikers.

Paddling is likely the best way to experience the beauty of the Chattahoochee River. It offers opportunities for leisurely floats, exciting whitewater adventures, and everything in between. With options between 2 and 13 miles, you can spend an hour or two on the river or the entire day.

While there is whitewater in the lower section of the Chattahoochee, the area of the river that’s in the Chattahoochee River National Recreation Area is known for its scenic, calm waters. It’s perfect for a relaxing float trip, gentle kayaking, or a fishing trip. Many outfitters are in the area from which to rent a kayak, canoe, float, or raft.

BOULDERING:

There aren’t many bouldering options, but the ease of access from the metro makes them a popular choice for climbers.

Island Ford: This popular but small bouldering area is in the Island Ford section of the Chattahoochee River National Recreation Area. Despite its small size, it offers a variety of bouldering problems, ranging from low to middle difficulty.

The Palisades: In the East Palisades section of Chattahoochee River National Recreation Area, climbers will find “The Palisades,” a small cliff with dozens of bouldering problems ranging from easy to challenging.
