Some Olympians Are Turning To OnlyFans To Earn Some Extra Money, Including One Who Says It ‘Saved My Life’

It would be nice if the swimmers, water polo players, and gymnasts who compete at the Olympics made as much money as NFL players, but that is not the case. So to help achieve their goal of winning the gold, many former and current Olympic athletes have turned to OnlyFans as a side hustle.

“Yes, I try and make extra money,” British diver Jack Laugher told The Telegraph. “Obviously, I’ve got something people want, and I’ll happily cash in on that. I’m a bit of a hustler and I want a bit more money if I can [get it].”

Divers aren’t exactly jumping into piles of gold, Scrooge McDuck-style. “The funding [in diving] hasn’t changed. When I first went on [in 2011], it was £21,000 for the top eight in the world,” he explained. “And at the time, as a 16-year-old, I was buzzing. But I’m almost 30 now, I’m top three in the world, and it is £28,000 a year.” In American dollars, that’s a little over $36,000, which is barely enough to get by when you’re training six days a week, eight hours per day, according to his teammate Tom Daley.

So, OnlyFans it is, although don’t expect to see anything too scandalous.

Though Laugher’s OnlyFans account might shock some, it’s hardly uncommon on the Team [Great Britain] diving squad. Other team members including Noah Williams (24) who will compete in Paris, Rio bronze medallist Daniel Goodfellow (27), and Tokyo gold medallist Matty Lee (26) are all on the platform. None offer explicit content, and as Jack Laugher notes, the group are regularly pictured wearing less in mainstream Olympics coverage.

Speed skater and three-time Olympian Elise Christie credits OnlyFans for saving her life after she retired from the sport.

“I had lost my house and was working three jobs at the time… [OnlyFans] brought me back from a really dark place, and I now use it positively,” she explained. “I use it as engagement for fans that have been with me for a long time. Once… you are using it in the way that you are comfortable with, you’re not forced into things or doing things you don’t want to do, you can use it in the way you want to use it. I have had a lot of negativity as well, but at the end of the day, it kind of saved my life at one point as I had nothing.”

Here are a few others who have turned to OnlyFans:

Kevin Abstract’s Nostalgic New Song ‘Big Dog’ Reflects On A Lost Love

Although his last solo album, Blanket only about six months old, Kevin Abstract is apparently already working on his next one. After releasing “Tennessee” with Lil Nas X in May, today, the multidisciplinary Texan artist follows up with “Big Dog,” a wistful track that finds him reminiscing about an old relationship and pondering, “How deep his sleep? /Do he think of me? Do he dream of me?” While the song is technically a solo, the production credits do include longtime Brockhampton homie Romil Hemnani, along with Popstar Benny, Quadeca, and Mino.

This album’s direction appears to be more rap focused after Blanket took a hard turn into alt-rock, which seemed to leave some fans a little baffled. “Big Dog” pulls from more conventional urban sounds, incorporating New Orleans bounce, and a majority of the vocals are rapped before the instrumental breaks down into a gentle ballad. Likewise, “Tennessee” featured raps from both Kevin and Lil Nas X, further suggesting that this new album will find him going back to his roots.

In addition to rolling out his new solo project, Kevin makes an appearance on the upcoming album from Toro Y Moi, Hole Erth, singing along on “Heaven.”

You can listen to “Big Dog” above.

Wesley Snipes Once Found Found Ryan Reynolds To Be Too ‘Over The Top’ But Is Now Glad He Can Get That Itch Out With ‘Deadpool

blade
New Line Cinema

Warning: spoilers for Deadpool & Wolverine ahead.

.
.
.
.
.

Last month, Wesley Snipes threw some words of warning over to Marvel when rumors started swirling that the Blade reboot was facing numerous stalls in production. But while it seemed like he was dragging them, maybe he was teasing his return.

Out of all the impressive cameos in Deadpool & Wolverine, Snipes showing up was one of the biggest surprises, especially considering his past with Ryan Reynolds. “Some of the things he did back in those days, that’s not really my humor,” Snipes told Entertainment Weekly. And he has a point! Reynolds starred alongside Snipes in 2004’s Blade: Trinity, which was right around his Van Wilder days. He was still finding his niche.

On the other hand, Snipes had already found his niche, and he didn’t care for Reynolds. “I’m not tuned in that way. So I thought, ‘Well, it’s a little over the top for me.’ But seeing him do it in this context [in Deadpool & Wolverine] made a lot of sense. And seeing him do it and do it well, Ryan does something that most people can’t do. He’s unique in that way, and he’s found a fantastic niche for himself doing what he does. Deadpool is Ryan Reynolds all day long. So it was enjoyable. It was enjoyable to work with him. It was enjoyable to revisit.”

Snipes has been keeping himself busy over the last few years, as he recently starred in Coming 2 America, and Netflix’s True Story. But he has always been open to returning to Marvel, he just didn’t think they wanted him back.

“I did not think it was possible,” Snipes continued. “I didn’t think we would be able to pull it off. I didn’t think that Marvel was into it, Disney was into it – also because they had Mahershala [Ali] cast for the next upcoming version of it … I thought it didn’t make sense to me.” Marvel cast Ali in a Blade reboot which has been in development hell for years. After that, Snipes thought his chance was done.

But things changed when he got a text from Reynolds. “But [when] you get a call from Ryan Reynolds out of the blue after 20 years, you go, ‘Okay, I got to take this call. Let’s see what this is about,’” he explained. “He told me the idea… They said ‘yes’ and ‘it’s a go.’ ‘If you’re in, we’re in.’ Here we are.” Snipes was able to return as Blade in the film, and his cameo was largely kept a secret…unlike others.

Deadpool & Wolverine is currently playing in theaters.

Gwyneth Paltrow Did Not Hide Her Confused Reaction To Robert Downey Jr’s Surprise Doctor Doom Role

Over the weekend, studios dropped so much casting news at San Diego Comic-Con, and much of those announcements were just that: casting news. However, one tidbit from Marvel’s panels yielded a real scratcher, and that would be the revelation of Robert Downey Jr. returning to the MCU to portray Doctor Doom.

Say what? Downey, of course, portrayed Tony Stark for over a decade until definitively ending that character’s life with an “I am Iron Man” and a snap. Stark is, of course, remaining dead, and the Doctor Doom casting now puts Downey into a different type of MCU spotlight, but Hall H did break into applause, as the below Variety video reveals.

Well, Gwyneth Paltrow, who appeared as Pepper Potts alongside Downey in several MCU movies (but don’t ask which films, because she won’t remember), did not hide her confusion, and commented on RDJ’s Instagram post to that effect: “I don’t get it, are you a baddie now?”

This might be the most relatable sentiment ever from the GOOP CEO. How can RDJ pull off two lead characters in the same universe? Of course this doesn’t make sense, and only RDJ could explain his reasoning for climbing back into a helmet. It is, however, easy to see why Kevin Feige wanted to go there. With Jonathan Majors’ recent post-conviction firing, the MCU needed to completely retool its future with plans for a Kang-free continuation. Also, it’s no secret that most MCU movies have not fared well at the box office since Endgame, which was the final movie for both RDJ and Chris Evans. (And not every movie, sadly, can star Deadpool or bring Deadpool-type box-office results).

Meanwhile, the Russo Brothers (who are also magically back in the MCU again, several years after Avengers: Endgame) were more enthused than Paltrow: “We’ve always said green is your color.”

Additionally, Variety is drawing attention to a 2023 interview, in which Feige and Iron Man director/Happy actor Jon Favreau discussed how RDJ had originally gone for the Doctor Doom role in those Fantastic Four movies of the aughts. Fortunately, he turned into Iron Man instead, and it remains to be seen how the newfound Doom addition will roll out. Only Feige and the Russo Brothers could fill in those gaps right now, and everybody else is free to remain confused. Including Gwyneth Paltrow.

Drake Collaborated On A New Song But Didn’t Get Credited At All, He Just Claimed On Instagram

Gordo (formerly known as DJ Carnage) just dropped a new album called Diamante, and it’s one Drake fans have had their eyes on: Drizzy features on a pair of tracks from the project, “Sideways” and “Healing.” The way Drake sees it, though, there’s actually a third track from the project on which he should be credited but currently isn’t.

In an Instagram Story posted last night/this morning (July 29), Drake shared a screenshot of the track “Cafecito” (which was released as a single in May) and wrote, “I made this beat with you but it’s all good… [pepper emojis] @gordoszn.”

According to the track’s credits on Spotify, Drake is not officially credited on the song. Nicki Nicole and Sech are credited as performers alongside Gordo, and Gordo is credited as the track’s sole producer.

Even beyond Gordo, Drake has been in a collaborative mode lately. An unreleased Lil Yachty collaboration popped up on Kai Cenat’s stream. He guested on two Camila Cabello songs, “Hot Uptown” and “Uuugly.” Of course, this all follows Her Loss, Drake’s joint album with 21 Savage. His latest solo album, 2023’s For All The Dogs, also includes link-ups with people like Teezo Touchdown, Savage, J. Cole, Yeat, SZA, PartyNextDoor, Chief Keef, Bad Bunny, Sexyy Red, and Yachty.

Noah Lyles Had To Learn To Embrace The Uncomfortable To Become The World’s Fastest Man

Noah Lyles(1024x450)
Getty Image/Merle Cooper

Noah Lyles enters the 2024 Olympics in Paris looking to become the first American man to win gold in the 100m in 20 years, as Justin Gatlin was the last to do so in 2004 in Athens. While Usain Bolt lorded over the sprinting world for 12 years, his retirement opened the door for a number of challengers to take the throne as the World’s Fastest Man, with Italy’s Marcell Jacobs winning gold in 2021 in Tokyo.

Lyles took hold of that title last year at the World Championships in Budapest, where he swept golds in the 100m and 200m, establishing himself as a favorite going to Paris. After winning the US Olympic Trials in both events again, he arrived in France with confidence overflowing, a far cry from where he was in Tokyo when he left with just a bronze in the 200m while battling depression. Now, Lyles is in a much better head space, which has allowed him to push himself more physically and become a threat for double gold (triple, with the relay included) in Paris.

A week before the opening ceremony, we got a chance to talk with Lyles over Zoom from Paris on behalf of Xfinity, where he was getting an early look at the track and finalizing his preparations for the Olympics. We talked about his race day routine, working through depression, challenging himself by running the 60m season to get better off the blocks, how learning to “be comfortable in the uncomfortable” allowed him to tap his full potential, and what his Olympics followup will be to his Yu-Gi-Oh! cards from the Trials.

How did this partnership with with Xfinity come about for you, and what are they doing to allow you to stay connected with with friends and family while you’re over there?

Yeah, so I was with Xfinity back in 2021. So, I’ve kind of been a part of the family for a while now. We’ve done some on and off things throughout the years. And it’s become a situation where it’s like, ‘Yo, we’re going to the Olympics and we want to sponsor you again.’ It’s a no-brainer. But outside of that, they’ve been helping all of us Team USA athletes. They’ve been giving us vouchers to help get out and stay connected with our family. Because, you know, those international fees of calling back and forth your mom, they add up after a few days. I’ve got Verizon, so anytime I go over on my calls, it’s like 10 extra dollars every day.

How important is that as an athlete that competes globally? And how do you make sure you’re carving out time to stay connected and still be talking with with your friends and family and stay grounded even as you compete all around the world?

I think it’s just important to let your family know when and where you’re going. Like, everybody knows I got a five hour time difference, and they just know that sometimes you’re not going to be able to get a hold of me. But I’m always going to try and call back when I get time. And the days I feel go by so fast when you’re overseas, as opposed to when you’re back home, and you wake up it’s like, oh, it’s 12 o’clock and it feels like the day is just getting started. Well, I woke up this morning and it was 11 o’clock and I was already late for three things [laughs].

Are you a routine oriented guy on race day? And do you try to do the same things all day, or is it more like a certain time period before the race you try to lock in?

A certain time period before the race. Usually a lot of my races are at night, and I can’t be in my hotel all day. I gotta be doing something. Whether that’s playing video games or walking around the city or going to the mall, maybe go watch a movie or something like that. I gotta be doing something. I can’t just sit down and lay in the bed and be in my room all day long. That’s not me.

When do you kind of lock in and what is that routine to get yourself ready for a race?

Yeah, so, if my race is at 8 p.m. then I’d say two hours before that would be 6 p.m. is when I’d show up to the track. And I’d say two hours before that is when I start my nap. And after I wake up from the nap, it’s like okay, we’re locked in. So like 4 p.m. So if I have an 8 p.m. race, 4 p.m. is when it’s like, okay, we’re now only doing things that are in relation to the track meet.

How long did it take you to figure out that process for yourself, to make sure that you’re not trying to focus too far ahead and getting in your head or anything like that too early in the day?

I’d say through high school is when I learned that type of mindset. I’ve had a sports therapist since I was in ninth grade in high school. So learning a lot of different skills and tricks and how to prepare myself, personally, was definitely something that I picked up and adapted and brought it with me throughout my career.

What’s the biggest difference you feel in where you’re at as an athlete, mentally and physically, from 2021 to now?

Well, mentally, I’m not depressed anymore.

That’s helpful.

So that fixes a lot of things. A lot, a lot of things. Just waking up and going to practice is way more enjoyable than it was back in 2021. So I’d say yeah, that’s where I’d start. In terms of physical, I’m a lot stronger. I’ve devoted a lot more time in the gym. I’d say I’m faster. I have more medals under my belt. I’ve been to bigger competitions. I’ve been in almost every scenario I feel I can put myself in to say, you know, if it’s the biggest level, I’ve been here before and I’ve won, and that was the outcome. So every time I’m practicing this year, it’s like I have the blueprint already. Now we’re just adding final touch details. And that’s what makes it fun, because I’ve already achieved times and races at the highest level that I was doing in 2021 and getting better outcomes from that year.

What are the things that you feel like you’ve really refined in your form? Because I mean, something that fascinates me about track is you’re in a sport where a tenth of a second is huge, a hundredth of a second matters. So, what are the things that you feel like you’ve been able to really refine over this year to try to get yourself to that peak level for Paris?

Yeah, I’d say the two things that really made a huge dent was working on my first 60 meters, which is why I ran a lot of 60s in the indoor season. And I’m now a silver medalist at the World [Athletics] Indoor [Championships] 60m, which is something that’s crazy. On my bingo card I never had that being a thing. You know, being told you’re not a good starter for so many years, you’re not going to say, yeah, I’m gonna go out there and I’m gonna get a medal at the indoor 60 meters. But to be able to do that, I had to devote a lot more time and energy into the weight room.

There are a lot of times where I could say I’m content with lifting this much weight. It’s gotten me this far. I was like, ‘No, we have to push the boundaries.’ We got to really sink into getting stronger and stronger. Because if I want to do what I did last year, I do that. If I want to grow, I do more. And being diligent but also being smart on how to handle that weight is also very important.

How do you strike the balance between, you go and do a bunch of work in the 60 and working on that. Obviously getting out of the blocks quickly helps in the 200 too, but they are they are two different races. How do you strike the balance between your preparation and your practice for all the events that you do?

I’d say that through most of the beginning of my career I perfected the 200m. That was my baby. Everybody knows me as a 200m runner. But I was still running 100m at the time. I was the US champion in 2018. I was the Diamond League champion in 2019. I have had many 100m races under my belt that prove that I was 100m runner. It’s just when it came to the championships we always decided to go after one gold medal versus maybe two silvers, or bronze and gold. That never sat well with me. If they jeopardize getting the gold, we were saying we’re not going to go after it.

But then I became what I felt was sufficient enough in the 200m to say I can now start developing my 100m a lot more. I can give more attention to it. So I’ve been running way more 100m and way more 60m in the last two years than I have my whole career. And by doing that it’s helped me learn the event. I’m a student of the game. I like to go in. I like to dissect. I like to say, ‘Hey, what am I doing wrong? What am I doing better? What’s my weakness? How do I improve that?’ Because you’re only as good as your weakest link. And I’m a firm believer of that.

So going in, that’s how me and my coach have attacked that. And becoming more comfortable in that scenario and being comfortable in the uncomfortable situations, going up against the dogs of the 100m, I said, I’m no longer throwing myself to the wolves. I am the wolf.

You mentioned mentally being in a better space. How much does that translate to being more comfortable doing things that, you know, in the past you hadn’t had the same level of success at and being willing to put yourself through that? I have to imagine that comes down a ton to mentally being in a better space.

Oh, yeah. It’s hard to put yourself in an uncomfortable situation if you’re not ready for it. And if you can’t get your mind to fathom that, it doesn’t matter how ready you are, you’re not going to win. I’ve seen many runners who easily had the talent and had the skill and the speed to be able to win the championships or come out with medals, but their mental was just not there enough. In their head it was almost like, ‘Why me? Why should I win?’ Instead of being, I’m going to win, and I’m gonna take it if they don’t want to give it to me. You know, that’s just the way that you have to prep your head into going into it.

I think it’s easy to say that, right? But it’s harder to internalize it. I don’t know if you can even answer this, but what have you been able to do to not just say like, ‘I’m going to think this way,’ but actually be able to internalize those thoughts and believe those thoughts? Because it’s one thing to say ‘I believe this’ but it’s another thing to truly believe it.

Yeah, there is almost a fake it to make it starter point. I like to say you have to be comfortable with the uncomfortable. Of course, it’s easy to say something. Of course it’s easy to say you’re going to do something. But if you don’t take those first few steps, and have the people around you to also force you to keep going forward. You’re never gonna get out of your comfort zone.

So, like I was saying earlier with running more 60m to face competitors that were better than me at something that I wasn’t particularly good at. Having those races I could always say, ‘Okay, I know how close I need to be.’ I might not need to beat them at this meter mark, but I need to be so close that when the time to strike is ready, I’ll be there every time. You know, not panicking just because somebody decided that they’re going to get out really hard. Or not panicking if I get out really hard, and saying to myself, ‘Oh, this person is so fast. I’m not supposed to be in front of them at this point.’

It’s like, no, if I did this, it’s because I’m faster and I should be running a fast time. Keep going with it. It’s that type of mentality that keeps you driving forward and starts to change your mindset instead of a situation where it’s like, ‘Oh, I don’t know how everybody else is gonna run.’ It shouldn’t matter how everybody else is going to run. It should matter what you’re going to do because you’ve practiced this.

Absolutely. Last thing, I’m not going to ask you what you have prepared, but with the cards at the Trials, was that something where that’s predetermined? Or is that a day of, whatever you’re feeling you bring with you to the track?

Well, the Olympic trials was pre-planned months in advance. It was based off of a dare. I did it. A shot putter who also loves anime, Chase Ealey, she’s a two-time world champion in the shot put, she dared me to bring out the full Exodia and I dared her to do the Rock Lee weight drop. So, we both lived up to both ends of our dare. It was really cool. I feel it was a cool anime moment for everybody. So, I usually do something different every track meet. That was the first time I brought Yu-Gi-Oh! cards. But I never usually try to do the same thing twice. Even now, I don’t have exactly, I have something I’m trying to get prepared. But it might not happen just because of how hard it is to get. But don’t worry, there will be tons of anime references and cards and stuff thrown around. You’re not going to be bored, I promise you.

Kevin Durant Went Back-And-Forth With Fans On Twitter About The NBA Adopting More FIBA Rules

The United States men’s basketball team emphatically began its stint at the Paris Olympics on Sunday. Team USA took on Nikola Jokic and Serbia — a team believed to be one of their top challengers for a gold medal this time around — and ran them off the floor, picking up a 110-84 win that made it clear that taking them down will not be easy.

The biggest reason for this was Kevin Durant, who did not play in the team’s warm-up games before the Olympics began due to a calf injury. Arguably the greatest player in USA Basketball history, Durant got cleared right before the game and came off the bench, where he relentlessly took it to Serbia. He didn’t miss a shot in the first half and ended the game with 23 points on 8-for-9 shooting and did not miss any of his five threes in 17 minutes of work.

One day later and Durant apparently had some downtime during the preparations for Wednesday’s game against South Sudan. Inevitably, whenever the United States plays in a FIBA tournament, there are people who want to see the NBA adopt more of the rules that makes FIBA basketball different. KD, it turns out, isn’t really one of them.

Durant pushed back against one charge: That there is more flopping in the NBA than there is in FIBA and pointed out that this is just not true.

He also went on to talk about the importance of randomness in basketball, and how striking a balance between that and the more rigid style of play that you see in FIBA is important.

Whether it is NBA or FIBA rules, I think two things are pretty clear: 1. Kevin Durant has a good perspective on all of this as someone who has been playing in the NBA and for the national team for years, 2. He’d be extremely good at basketball, no matter what.

Kindest Man Alive Keanu Reeves Dedicated His Debut Novel To His Mom

keanu reeves

Despite being a beloved star of multiple successful franchises, Keanu Reeves doesn’t show up to Comic Con too often. And when he does, it’s normally on his own terms. While he doesn’t have a John Wick movie to promote or another Matrix installment (yet….), he does have what Comic Con was made for: his own comic book series.

Reeves appeared at the con over the weekend to discuss the world of BRZRKR and the new novel, The Books of Elsewhere. The book takes place in Reeves’ comic book universe and follows an immortal warrior named B/Unute. Reeves was joined by Mattson Tomlin, who is writing a movie based on BRZRKR and also acts as the showrunner for the upcoming anime project.

Reeves took some time to flip through the book and stopped to read the dedication page, which features a sweet note to mothers: “A dedication to our mothers: for life, for storytelling, for love.” Reeves has been open about his close relationship with his mother Patricia over the years. The actor brought her as his date to the Oscars back in 2020 and in 2021, he revealed that his mother made Dolly Parton’s iconic bunny suit for her famous 1978 Playboy cover. Maybe she should be the one writing a book!

Not only did Reeves share the sweet sentiment, he was also given the Comic Con Inkpot Award for his work in film and comics. “I’ve been really fortunate to work with some incredible artists and tell some incredible stories. So thank you, thank you, thank you,” Reeves said while accepting the award.

Even though John Wick might be on hiatus (or…dead?) Reeves still has a lot of work on the horizon. Netflix is already working on an anime adaptation of his comic book, in addition to a live-action film. Hopefully, all of this work will kickstart a campaign for The Lake House 2. The people need a follow-up.

This past weekend, DJ Polo of the Juice Crew was confirmed to have died by his family, who shared the news via his social media accounts.

“”It is with a heavy heart we mourn the loss of my father, the incredible DJ Polo,” the post reads. “He was not only a legend to the hip hop community but also to his family and we celebrate his life and legacy now and forever. We would like to thank you all for your beautiful words and tributes – seeing the impact he made has been overwhelming and we are so grateful… Thank you all again for your condolences and for respecting the family’s privacy at this time. We miss you Cuzmo.”

DJ Polo’s status as one of hip-hop’s foremost pioneers of the Golden Era alongside Kool G Rap meant that the news was met with an outpouring of tributes from fellow rap legends such as fellow Juice Crew member Big Daddy Kane, DJ Premier, Eric B, Ice-T, and of course, Kool G Rap himself.

“R.I.P. to a dear friend and a Brother from another Household,” wrote his partner-in-rhyme. “He is a Legend to Hip Hop and Juice Crew history. DJ Polo! May Light from the Highest be upon him.” You can see more tributes below.

DJ Polo and Kool G Rap were added to the Juice Crew in the mid-80s after recording “It’s A Demo” at the group’s studio with DJ Marley Marl and Mr. Magic. They later released the demo as the single “I’m Fly,” then followed it with three albums: Road To The Riches (1989), Wanted: Dead Or Alive (1990), and Live And Let Die (1992).
These albums are credited with contributing to the rise of Mafioso rap and built G Rap’s reputation as a supreme rhyme technician.
