Today (September 24), Bruce Springsteen doubled down on his stance in the official trailer for Road Diary. In the teaser, Springsteen reflects on his monumental career and as the idea is brought out he sets the record straight. “I plan on continuing until the wheels fall off,” he said. “And for as long as the audience will follow me. It’s my job.”
Come October 25, fans will be invited to experience Springsteen’s life on the road in a way never seen before thanks to director Thom Zimmy. At the 2024 Toronto Film Festival, Springsteen’s highly anticipated documentary made its initial debut. Now, Hulu and Disney+ users will get the chance to watch it next month. Metro Boomin and Future’s “Like That” could easily be considered the launch point. Despite gaining the support of Kendrick Lamar’s massive fan base, Metro Boomin isn’t exactly a fan of stan culture. Yesterday (September 23), during a Forbes 30 Under 30 Summit panel, Metro Boomin seemingly cited stan culture as the root cause for today’s “weird” rap beefs.
“I feel like the competition is great for the game,” he said. “Hip-hop has always been more of a competitive genre even if just keeping it on music, and it’s not serious how everybody tries to make it. Because also with Hip Hop, there’s a lot of ego involved. You’re supposed to feel like you’re the best. Everybody from the highest to the lowest guy is supposed to at least feel like you’re the best. So when two of the top dogs in the game and you both feel like you’re the best, it’s like okay, now we gotta have a showdown.”
Metro Boomin then referred to Jay-Z and Nas’ infamous diss tracks before turning his attention to stan culture, saying: “But I just feel like more today with stan culture, it makes it kind of weird. Because back in the day, JAY-Z and Nas went at it. But I was a fan of both of them. And most people were! And it was like, it’s okay. It was like not I hate this side [or] I hate that side. The internet just makes it a little too wild now.”
I’m not sure those he were alive to witness Jay-Z and Nas’ clash remember it quite this way (myself, included).
The New York Liberty are on their way to the semifinals of the 2024 WNBA playoffs. New York played host to the Atlanta Dream in Game 2 of their first round series at the Barclays Center on Tuesday night, and thanks to an absolutely outrageous performance by Sabrina Ionescu, the Liberty punched their ticket to the second round with a 91-82 win to secure a 2-0 sweep.
With their backs against the wall, Atlanta came out playing like a team that was desperate to stave off elimination. The team opened up the game on an 11-3 run, then spent the remainder of the frame keeping the Liberty at arm’s length.
No one was more responsible for the team’s hot start than Allisha Gray, as the guard took it to New York from the jump. Thanks to her 14 points on 4-for-4 shooting from three, Atlanta found itself up, 28-19, after one.
The Dream are turning up the HEAT with an early 11-0 run
It did not take long for the Liberty to restore a bit of order to the proceedings. The league’s No. 1 overall seed came roaring out of the gates in the second quarter, and rode an 18-6 run to take the lead on an Ionescu three.
HERE COMES NEW YORK
JJ swats it away and Sabrina drains the three for the lead in Game 2
But the Dream did not let things get away from them. While New York got its lead up to four points, Atlanta closed out the quarter on a 12-3 run, with Jordin Canada and Tina Charles combining to score 10 of those points. By the time the buzzer went off for halftime, Atlanta took a 48-43 lead into the locker room as it tried to force a win-or-go-home Game 3 in its own building. Gray’s 14 points led all scorers, while Charles and Rhyne Howard both had 10. For New York, Ionescu led the way with 13, while Breanna Stewart had 11 points and Jonquel Jones had 10.
The third quarter was the Ionescu show, as she took over the game by scoring nine straight points to carry the Liberty. Ionescu scored 11 points in all during the third, which was half of her team’s points.
Between Ionescu getting hot and the Liberty holding the Dream to their lowest-scoring quarter of the game, New York was able to take a 65-64 lead into the fourth. And while things were tight early on in the fourth, the Liberty started to pull away. Whether it was Ionescu’s shooting or their ability to score in the paint, the team rode a 12-2 run to open up a double-digit lead. And try as they might, there was just nothing the Dream could do, as the Liberty were able to create enough of a cushion that they were not able to get within seven points down the stretch.
SABRINA IONESCU ANSWERS BACK
Spike Lee is lovin’ the energy courtside of Game 2
Ionescu led all scorers with 36 points on 12-for-23 shooting from the field and 5-for-11 shooting from three to go along with nine assists. Jones had a double-double with 20 points and 13 rebounds, while Stewart put up 13 points. Gray’s 26 points led the way for Atlanta, while Charles had 14 and Howard stuffed the stat sheet, going for 19 points, five rebounds, three assists, two blocks, and two steals.
Now, New York will sit and wait to see what will happen in Tuesday night’s other game between the Las Vegas Aces and the Seattle Storm. Las Vegas won Game 1 in that series, and if they can defend their home court in Game 2, it’ll set up a rematch of the 2023 WNBA Finals, which the Aces won in four games.
Welcome to SNX DLX, your weekly roundup of the best sneakers to hit the internet. The fall 2024 sneaker season continues to heat up now that summer is over and classes have resumed. After a full list of 10 last week, we’re back with a strong eight with new releases from Nike, Adidas, and New Balance. We would’ve loved to see some new worthwhile releases from Asics, Puma, and Hoka but it looks like those brands are keeping things quiet.
We would’ve also liked to see some third-party brand collaborations this time around but it looks like that wasn’t in the cards. Luckily, there are still some great collabs, including Adidas and Minnesota United who’ve dropped a Gazelle in the team colors, a collaboration with Bad Bunny, a new Kobe Protro, and our personal highlight of the week — Nike and Verdy’s newest SB Dunk.
Without further ado, here are the best sneaker releases dropping this week, and where to buy ‘em! Let’s dive in.
One of my favorite genres of design is products that attempt to forecast the future in their present time. Case in point the Air Max SNDR, a ’99 era sneaker that tried to reimagine what a sneaker could be. It had a full body shroud, a split midsole, and reflective panels for enhanced visibility. In 2024 none of that sounds that radical, which shows how ahead of the curve the SNDR was.
This refresh features a stealthy black upper with silver accents and large reflective panels across the mudguard. It’s a dope pick for fans of futuristic sneaker design, and even though we’ve seen these design cues implemented elsewhere, no other shoe looks quite like the Air Max SNDR.
The Nike Air Max SNDR Black and Silver is out now for a retail price of $180. Pick up a pair via the Nike SNKRS app.
Adidas has linked up with Minnesota United for this special Gazelle dressed up in the team colors. The sneaker features a leather and synthetic upper with textile lining and a Crystal White, Core Black, and Better Scarlet colorway.
There isn’t much different about this sneaker, it’s simply one of Adidas’ greatest silhouettes in a dope colorway, which is all you need sometimes.
The MNUFC x Familia Gazelle ADV is out now for a retail price of $110. Pick up a pair at Adidas.
What we love about the Dark Sage and Solar Red Air Max 90 is how in your face the design is. With its bright Solar Red upper, it demands to be seen, which is pretty ironic considering it also sports camo leather overlays. Lately, sneaker design has been all about working harmoniously with whatever outfit you’re rocking, so it’s refreshing to see a sneaker that forces the wearer to dress around it.
The Nike Air Max 90 Dark Sage and Solar Red is out now for a retail price of $140. Pick up a pair via the Nike SNKRS app.
Last month, Nike dropped the high-top Elite Protro Halo, and if its long neck was a bit too much for you to get behind, then this more conventional low-top version is for you. The sneaker features a lightweight Flyknit upper outfitted with a React midsole for enhanced responsiveness and extra grippy traction for quick court change-ups.
It’s a performance-focused sneaker that also manages to look incredibly fashionable and we love it for that.
The Nike Kobe 9 Elite Low Protro Halo is out now for a retail price of $210. Pick up a pair via the Nike SNKRS app or aftermarket sites like GOAT and Flight Club.

Nike Sb Dunk Low Pro x Verdy Blue Gaze and Enamel Green
The Tokyo-based artist Verdy’s design aesthetic has always been a bit out there, so anytime he links up with Nike we’re excited to see what he’s going to cook up. The SB Dunk Blue Gaze and Enamel Green does not disappoint!
Inspired by Verdy’s fan-favorite Visty plushie, this Sb Dunk sports a corduroy upper with furry pastel underlays, a padded collar and tongue, and a colorway that looks straight out of an Easter basket. We would’ve preferred a design like this during the spring season, but we’ll take what we can get!
The Nike SB Dunk Low Pro x Verdy Blue Gaze and Enamel Green is out now for a retail price of $130. Pick up a pair via the Nike SNKRS app or aftermarket sites like GOAT and Flight Club.
This week, New Balance decided to go a bit weird with this formal-wear-meets-casual-wear design. The 1906L tries to strike a balance between a loafer and a tech-focused sneaker, and the result ends up looking oddly futuristic.
The 1906L sports a synthetic and mesh upper in metallic silver with an N-ergy outsole with ABZROB SBS pods for enhanced shark absorption. To which we have to ask New Balance — just where do you imagine people wearing these things, and what do you imagine them doing? This is a truly odd design, but we appreciate it for being so out of the box.
The New Balance 1906L Silver and Shadow Grey is out now for a retail price of $159.99. Pick up a pair at New Balance.
If you’ve always wanted the Travis Scott Nike Mocha but have accepted the fact that you’ll never own a pair without paying a small fortune, the Jordan 1 Low OG Mocha is for you. A low-top version of the modern classic high-top 2020 release, the Mocha looks just like the Travis Scott sneaker, only it doesn’t have the backward swoosh and Cactus Jack branding.
Call us crazy, but we think that results in a better shoe! The sneaker sports a leather upper with a mix of black Sail and Dark Mocha colors. It’s a great sneaker, even if it makes us think of a much more popular design.
The Nike Air Jordan 1 Low OG Mocha is set to drop on September 21st at 7:00 AM PST for a retail price of $140. Pick up a pair via the Nike SNKRS app.
For Bad Bunny’s latest with Adidas, Benito has remixed the Gazelle and updated it for the modern age. The sneaker features the typical leather lining and leather upper with a widened chunky design that sports suede overlays and a flipped t-toe design. In place of the Gazelle branding, this sneaker features “Benito” branding under an Adidas box logo.
It’s not quite as iconic as the original Gazelle, but it’s one of the best-looking remixes of the classic design we’ve ever seen. Benito and Adidas have done it again.
The Adidas Bad Bunny Gazelle Core White is set to drop on September 21st for a retail price of $140. Pick up a pair at Adidas or aftermarket sites like GOAT and Flight Club.

Since then Nicki Minaj has aired out her deeply rooter grievances with the show’s top level programmer and several of his associates including Steve Stoute. Now, users believe Nicki Minaj has turned her attention to Jay-Z superstar wife, Beyoncé. Continue below for more details.
Do Nicki Minaj And Beyoncé Have Beef?
On September 23, after Beyoncé posted two new SirDavis promotional gallery posts to Instagram, Nicki Minaj took to X (formerly Twitter) to write: “Robot on timing.” Although the upload has since been deleted, given Nicki Minaj’s cryptic code names for foes, many assumed that it was a dig at Beyoncé.
However, according to Nicki Minaj users online are mistaken. In the comment section of one TikTok user’s video (viewable here) laughing about the rumored beef, Nicki Minaj quickly shut down the claim.
“This is an absolute lie,” she wrote.
Beyoncé has proven to stick by her hubby even if it means confronting someone in-person, according to 50 Cent. Despite Nicki Minaj’s issues with Jay-Z, the two seems to have maintained a cordial relationship based on the flowers Bey sent to Nicki back in March.
The new Sinners trailer debuted this week and, in the process, introduced the world to the fifth feature collaboration between powerhouse filmmaker Ryan Coogler and actor/producer/sometimes director Michael B. Jordan. The resulting horror movie follows troubled twin brothers, both portrayed by Jordan, who will “return to their hometown to start again, only to discover that an even greater evil is waiting to welcome them back” during Jim Crow-era South.
This formerly top-secret project will arrive in March 2025, which isn’t exactly tomorrow, but if you would like to relive collaborative cinematic excellence, here is where you can stream the pair’s existing joint works:
Fruitvale Station (streaming on Max): Coogler’s debut feature film retraces the events leading up to the death of Oscar Grant (Jordan) who was killed in Oakland by now-ex-police officer Johannes Mehserle.
Creed (streaming on MGM+ & Amazon): This film introduces a more than worthy trilogy of Rocky Balboa successor movies, which co-starred Sylvester Stallone in trainer and mentor form to Adonis Johnson (Jordan), whose father, Apollo Creed, died while fighting dastardly rival Ivan Drago.
Black Panther (streaming on Disney+): With Chadwick Boseman in the lead and heroic role, Jordan got to have a (shirtless) blast as Erik Killmonger, who remains an almost universal favorite villain of those who have ever counted themselves fans of the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
Black Panther: Wakanda Forever (streaming on Disney+) This film not only stood as a merited sequel but also faced the unenviable task of paying tribute to the late Boseman. Even though Killmonger obviously did not emerge as the new Black Panther, Jordan still got to briefly raise his character from the grave to nearly steal the show.
Let’s close with a half-serious dream for the future.
The planned revival of The X-Files: Original series creator Chris Carter broke the news of Coogler’s in-the-works series that will further investigate whether “the truth is out there” as Fox Mulder subscribed. Gillian Anderson has gone on the record to say that she would be down to join this very real project, but god only knows if a release date will materialize. Still, it’s tempting to wonder what role, if any, that Jordan could adopt, whether that’s producing with his very good friend or even stepping into “I want to believe” shoes.
We’ll stop speculating now. Happy viewing for the above (completed) films.
On Rosalía’s latest single, “Omega,” she enlisted the creative assistance of Ralphie Choo for the joyous love track. Given Rosalía’s shocking split from Rauw Alejandro, fans worried that the broken engagement would leave her jaded. However, that couldn’t be further from the truth. “Omega” proves that Rosalía refuses to give up on love and with Ralphie Choo by her side she has all the support she needs.
In the official video directed by Rosalía’s longtime collaborator, Stillz, the pair metaphorically showcases that upbeat mindset as they navigate the turns and twists of a thrilling rollercoaster ride. “You and I lost among poppies / Your eyes shine, they are two guns / Our tongues embrace, they’re no longer alone,” sings Rosalía.
In a statement Rosalía shared the inspiration behind the track. “Omega is the end,” she said. “It’s the celebration of having found what you wanted and the security with which one decides to stay. Omega is firmness with the one you love that makes you not want to be anywhere else but there.”
As for working with Ralphie Choo, Rosalía described it as a “pleasure.”
“He’s a whirlwind of energy in the studio,” she said. “He’s also a really happy spirit, super creative and incredibly generous. I remember that we sent each other so many songs before we got into the studio to work on Omega because we’re both such music lovers and I realized right away that our musical taste is really similar.”

Raising Cane’s is great. The restaurant chain makes the best chicken tenders in all of fast food (we know, we’ve done the tests), and if the long snaking drive-thru lines are any indication, we aren’t the only ones who think that. Part of Raising Cane’s success is its simplistic but focused menu. There are only five menu items: chicken tenders, a chicken sandwich (made with chicken tenders), fries, Texas toast, and coleslaw, and each one of them is made incredibly well (we have some gripes with the chicken sandwich; read about that here) because Raising Cane’s is able to drill down and keep the quality high.
With such a simple menu, it might seem like there isn’t anything you can really do to enhance your eating experience at Cane’s, but, you’re wrong! There are actually a few hidden menu changes that you can make to your food for an arguably better, more delicious experience.
So to help guide you to a better meal, we’re naming our three absolute favorite menu hacks to level up your meal at Raising Cane’s. You could apply all three of these to a single meal, or mix ‘em up, they apply to every single combo order at Raising Cane’s. Let’s eat.
Order Your Sandwich On Toast
Dane Rivera
Why We Love It:
My two biggest issues with the Raising Cane’s chicken sandwich are the bread, which is too thick, too dry, and not very flavorful, and that the sandwich is made with three chicken tenders rather than a breast filet. We can’t do anything to change the latter issue, but we can fix the bread problem.
Simply ask for your sandwich to be made on toast, and instead of the bland Raising Cane’s sandwich bun, you’ll get a sandwich made on Raising Cane’s wonderful Texas Toast.
The rich and savory butter and garlic notes of the toast pair excellently with the fingers and season-heavy Cane’s sauce, resulting in a sandwich that rivals even Popeye’s. The fact that Raising Cane’s has bread this good and chooses not to use it disturbs me!
The Bottom Line:
This simple hack completely transforms the Raising Cane’s chicken sandwich, making it one of the best chicken sandwiches in all of fast food.
Ask For BOBS
Raising Cane’s
Why We Love It:
Don’t worry, asking for a BOB at Raising Cane’s isn’t going to make it so that you’re eternally haunted by Bob from Twin Peaks — though we’re not opposed to a Bob and Raising Cane’s team-up, the restaurant has worked with Post Malone and Snoop, Bob would be the perfect Halloween collab — but it will greatly enhance your chicken combo.
BOBS stands for buttered on both sides, a hack for the Texas Toast that doubles down on the garlic butter by, well, buttering and grilling the bread on both sides rather than the standard one side.
It makes the bread much more sumptuous and indulgent, and you’re already eating a plate of fried food, so you might as well go all out!
The Bottom Line:
Raising Cane’s Texas Toast is already the best bread side at any fast food chain, make it even better by doubling down on the garlic butter.
Ordering To Go? Get Your Chicken Extra Crispy
Dane Rivera
Why We Love It:
If you’ve ever ordered Raising Cane’s to-go you’re well aware that once the chicken sits in the box for even a minute, what was once a wonderfully crunchy golden brown chicken tender, turns into… well, it’s still a chicken tender, but now it’s all soggy, mushy and wet. That can be avoided by asking for your chicken “extra crispy.”
That might sound like a recipe for dry chicken tenders, but extra crispy at Raising Cane’s means the tenders sit in the fryer for about 30 seconds longer, which helps make the breading just a bit crunchier without affecting the quality of the meat inside. That crunchier exterior will hold up better in transit and also tastes great if you’re dining in.
The Bottom Line:
Say goodbye to soggy chicken with this extra crunchy, extra crispy menu hack.
Sometimes the best new R&B can be hard to find, but there are plenty of great rhythm-and-blues tunes to get into if you have the time to sift through the hundreds of newly released songs every week. So that R&B heads can focus on listening to what they love in its true form, we’ll be offering a digest of the best new R&B songs that fans of the genre should hear every Friday.
Since the last update of this weekly R&B column, we’ve received plenty of music and news from the genre’s artists.
Here are the new releases you need to have your eye on this week:
Jaz Karis — Safe Flight
London singer Jaz Karis’ debut album Safe Flight is one of the best R&B albums you’ll hear in 2025. The 13-track project is a soaring release that tastefully blends different flavors of R&B for a project that matches the worldwide experience she had while crafting the album.
Highlights: “Tequila” Feat. Reekado Banks, “Chill On Me” Feat. June Freedom & “Love Me.”
Jordan Ward & Joony — “Jealousy”
Jordan Ward and Joony are putting their chemistry to the test with their upcoming project JRNY. They begin its rollout with “Jealousy,” the first single from the EP that is built on the alternative R&B sound they’ve both used heavily in their music. If you liked their “IDC” collaboration, you’ll love this one.
Chase Shakur — “Limerence”
Atlanta singer Chase Shakur’s dark and groovy single “Limerence” is a record you’ll have a hard time peeling yourself away from. The track is built on swirling synths, a groovy bass, and tight drums as Shakur explores lust and hate and how the latter arise in moments of unrequited love and obsession.
Amaria — “Finer Things”
Florida native Amaria will release her debut album Free Fallin’ next month and ahead of its arrival, she delivers “Finer Things.” It’s a sweet blend of ’90s R&B and contemporary neo-soul as Amaria’s delicate and lush vocals rest over the production as she sings about how good love could be if her significant other commits to her.
Genia — “Give”
Cali singer Genia is a name to keep your eye on has we head into 2025 and her latest single “Give” is another good reason why. A single from her upcoming 4 AM In The Ville EP, Genia finds her groove over the bouncy production as she lets her hair fly in the summer wind and indulges in some fun under the sun.
Raiche — “Hearts At War”
Raiche’s “Hearts At War” brings us one step closer to her Making Room EP, the follow-up to last year’s Loveland. The new record puts Raiche’s growth on full display as the Massachusetts-bred reaches a breaking point in a fractured relationship as she also comes to the realization that it needs to end.
4Fargo — “Fine Sh!t”
Georgia singer 4Fargo is on a roll in 2024. After dropping his Express&B project in the spring, 4Fargo begins the next chapter with “Fine Sh!t.” The upbeat, bass-thumping record shows love to a “fine” woman who is about her business and doesn’t play with trifling men who don’t meet her expectations.
Jae Stephens — Sellout
Jae Stephens is back with her first project since 2022’s High My Name Is. The Dallas singer checks in with Sellout, a six-track release built on shimmering and seductive records. “Sellout is me stepping into a light that I’ve wanted to dance in for a long time,” Stephens says about the EP in a press release.
Highlights: “Kiss U Back” & “Better Boy”
Xenia Manasseh — Love/Hate Pt. 2
Los Angeles-based, Kenyan-Ugandan singer Xenia Manasseh delivers Love/Hate Pt. 2 just a year after releasing its predecessor. Its 12 songs are built on strength and fire, as revealed in an Instagram post. “L/H Pt. 2 feels like pain, passion, anger, sadness but it also feels like hope,” Xenia added about the project.
Highlights: “Asali,” “Act A Fool” & “Phases”
Langston Bleu — Love Is A Luxury
Three years after sharing Bleu, Atlanta singer Langston Bleu is back with his second project Love Is Luxury. Led by “Fool’s Gold,” the project challenges the ideas of love, luxury, and self-expression. Bleu adds that the EP is “a reflection on how we value love in an era where everything comes with a price. Sometimes, we chase luxury, thinking it will make up for the lack of true connection—but is it worth it?”
Toronto singer Divine Lightbody impressed us greatly with the release of her single “Homies” last month, and she’s back to doing the same with her latest drop “You And Me.” It’s a sweet and passionate single that Lightbody uses to plead with her partner to confide in her and trust that she is truly there for them in their time of need.
Each year, the League Of Legends World Championship gets an anthem from a contemporary star that highlights just how big the world of Esports really has become. The 2023 anthem was NewJeans’ “Gods,” following Lil Nas X’s “Star Walkin’” in 2022. This year, Riot Games has recruited the reconstituted Linkin Park to lend a more hardcore edge to the proceedings with “Heavy Is The Crown.” The track heavily emphasizes Mike Shinoda’s rapped lyrics with a pyrotechnic vocal performance from new member Emily Armstrong near the end.
The new song was, of course, accompanied by an animated music video showcasing some of this year’s competitors, as well as an animated version of the band performing in the same painterly style as the League Of Legends Netflix show, Arcane, which will be making its return to the streamer in three parts this November 9 after nearly three years between seasons. The show also employed the use of popular musical acts in its theme song, “Enemy,” which was performed by Imagine Dragons and Atlanta rapper J.I.D. and charted on the Billboard Hot 100.
The League Of Legends Worlds Finals will take place on November 2, 2024 in London.
You can watch Linkin Park’s video for “Heavy Is The Crown” above.
