Shakira Cut A Nightclub Performance Short After She Appeared To Notice Someone Filming Up Her Dress

A few months after her Copa América halftime show set, Shakira returned to Miami to promote her single, “Soltera,” at LIV Nightclub. But the performance came to an abrupt end after someone — or someones — in the audience appeared to film up her dress.

According to Billboard, Shakira can “clearly be seen gathering up her short skirt at several points and waving the index fingers on both hands as she looks down at an unseen person off screen with a gesture indicating that they should stop what they’re doing.” At one point, she makes the “I see you” motion. After a few more hip swivels, a seemingly frustrated Shakira leaves the stage.

You can watch the incident here.

Shakira released a new album, Las Mujeres Ya No Lloran (translation: Women No Longer Cry), earlier this year. “Making this music has shown me that my pain can be transformed into creativity,” she told Allure. “The songs are full of anecdotes and some very intense emotions I have experienced in these two years. But creating this album has been a transformation in which I have been reborn as a woman. I have rebuilt myself in the ways I believe are appropriate. No one tells me how to cry or when to cry, no one tells me how to raise my children, no one tells me how I become a better version of myself. I decide that.”

Tito Jackson Of The Jackson 5 Is Dead At 70 Years Old

Tito Jackson, former member of the Jackson 5 and brother of Janet and Michael Jackson, is dead at 70 years old.

Tito’s (real name Toriano Adaryll Jackson) sons TJ, Taj, and Taryll confirmed his death on Instagram late last night/early this morning (September 16), writing:

“It’s with heavy hearts that we announce that our beloved father, Rock & Roll Hall of Famer Tito Jackson is no longer with us. We are shocked, saddened and heartbroken. Our father was an incredible man who cared about everyone and their well-being. Some of you may know him as Tito Jackson from the legendary Jackson 5, some may know him as ‘Coach Tito’ or some know him as ‘Poppa T.’ Nevertheless, he will be missed tremendously. It will forever be ‘Tito Time’ for us. Please remember to do what our father always preached and that is ‘Love One Another.’ We love you Pops.

Your boys,

Taj, Taryll and TJ.”

Tito’s nephew Siggy Jackson also confirmed the news to People, while Steve Manning, a former Jackson family manager, told Entertainment Tonight he “believes” Tito suffered a heart attack while driving from New Mexico to Oklahoma.

Tito was born in Gary, Indiana on October 15, 1953. He was an original member of the Jackson 5 (later known as the Jacksons) and was inducted into the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame as a member of the group. He released his first solo album, Tito Time, in 2016, and it spawned two singles that landed on the Billboard Adult R&B Songs chart: “Get It Baby” featuring Big Daddy Kane and “One Way Street.” His final album released during his lifetime was 2021’s Under Your Spell.

In a 2021 interview with the Grammy Awards, Tito said, “I’m proud of my career. I wish I had the head I have now about my career when I was much younger. I could have done a lot more when I was younger. But I’m proud of my accomplishments — the records that we hold as well as the inductees and all of these other things. Like I said, what else do I have to prove? […] It’s just been great, you know? The brothers don’t record like we used to, but I think it’s important to keep on singing a song as long as there’s a song to sing.”

The Emmys Tried To Play John Oliver Offstage While He Paid Tribute To His Departed Dog: ‘F*ck You!’

Perpetual Emmy winner John Oliver brought his punchy personality while accepting the Outstanding Scripted Variety Series trophy. The Last Week Tonight host, of course, is skilled at mixing comedy with drama on hard-hitting subjects, yet he usually brings levity to awards ceremonies. In 2020, he also brought his red plush hoodie to his speech, but this year, he paid tribute to his late dog to both somber and humorous effect.

Well, he tried to pay that tribute while the Emmys producers began to play the “kindly leave the stage” music. As seen above, Oliver didn’t accept that gesture without a muted (albeit good-humored) “f*ck you” transpiring. Y’all know that John Oliver loves a hearty “f*ck you,” right?

“We have the most fantastic dog,” Oliver began. “She was at our wedding, she got us through the pandemic, she was with us through pregnancies.” And when the telltale music began to hit, Oliver humorously called it the “perfect choice of music” because “[w]e had to say goodbye to her. I feel like Sarah McLachlan right now.”

That’s when the “F*ck you! There you go” dropped, along with “[t]his is for all dogs … You all deserve a treat. Play me off now! Thanks so much.” Woof.

Even Emmy Hosts Eugene And Dan Levy Roasted The Emmys Over Not Knowing How To Handle ‘The Bear’

As of this writing, Sunday night’s Emmys broadcast has barreled through nearly half of its winners list, and so far, three The Bear cast members (Ebon Moss-Bachrach, Liza Colón-Zayas, and Jeremy Allen White) have come close to sweeping the comedy acting acting categories. Yet is The Bear really a comedy? The answer deserves nuanced discussion, but also: nope.

The Bear, which remains a very good show by the way, hits like a tidal wave of combative emotions that lean towards powerfully dramatic and highly stressful to witness. Sure, there are moments of humor here and there, but for a few years running, other deserving performances (which are rightfully categorized as comedic) have arguably been given the shaft, and although that stance isn’t unanimous, it’s a commonly held sentiment from those who care about awards shows. That includes hosting pair Eugene and Dan Levy, although Eugene did the talking there during the pair’s opening monologue:

“‘The Bear’ is nominated for 23 Emmys tonight, making it the most-nominated comedy in history. Now, I love the show, and I know some of you will be expecting us to make a joke about whether ‘The Bear’ is really a comedy — but in the true spirit of ‘The Bear,’ we will not be making any jokes.”

Will the TV Academy switch course on The Bear for future seasons, so that the show can at least start throwing elbows against other dramatic and stressful-to-watch series? Probably not, but at least the hosting Levy pair landed a well-meaning and lighthearted punch, not to mention a genuinely funny moment tied to The Bear.

‘Reservation Dogs’ Star D’Pharaoh Woon-A-Tai Brought A Powerful Message To The Emmys Red Carpet

rez-dogs-red-hand

Reservation Dogs star D’Pharaoh Woon-A-Tai is nominated for Best Comedy Actor at the 76th Emmy Awards, but the message that he brought to the red carpet was all too serious. The actor, who portrayed Bear Smallhill on the FX series, wore a red hand painted over his mouth as a message of solidarity for Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women.

This symbolic gesture draws attention to the growing MMIW movement, and according to Native Hope website, this use of a painted red hand “stands for all the missing sisters whose voices are not heard. It stands for the silence of the media and law enforcement in the midst of this crisis. It stands for the oppression and subjugation of Native women who are now rising up to say #NoMoreStolenSisters.”

Data from the National Crime Information Center (which linked as a tool through the Department of Justice website) indicates that thousands of Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women have gone missing in recent years without being logged on the NamUs federal missing person database.

Through this symbolic red hand, Woon-A-Tai also brings a visual to a recent statement that he gave Variety, to which he stressed the importance of “telling Native stories through the Native lens.” He added, “‘Reservation Dogs’ has taught me how important it is that we are the ones to tell our stories for us. Nobody should tell our stories on our behalf. That’s been going on for too long. We’ve had too much misrepresentation because of it.”

Terence Crawford Laughed Off Being Mistakenly Identified As Kendrick Lamar During A UFC Broadcast

Terence Crawford Canelo Alvarez Edgar Berlanga fight 2024 (1024x437)
Getty Image

What happens in Sin City is supposed to stay there. Well, unless it is broadcasted to millions of viewers around the world. Professional boxer Terence “Bud” Crawford found himself in the middle of a viral joke due to an error by the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC).

Yesterday (September 14), the UFC mistakenly identified Terence Crawford as Kendrick Lamar during the broadcast of the Saul “Canelo” Alvarez vs Edgar Berlanga fight. Those in attendance at T-Mobile Arena might not have caught the flub, but viewers at home sure did.

Immediately after supporters of the “Not Like Us” rapper took to X (formerly Twitter) with an endless amount of meme swapping out Kendrick for Crawford on album covers and more.

In a post shared to Crawford’s official Instagram page (viewable here), he laughed off the misidentification, writing: “Damn, Kendrick Lamar 😂.”

Crawford went on to use Kendrick Lamar’s song “Euphoria” to soundtrack the image captured during the event. Crawford is no stranger to the world of sports (despite the botched identification) having secured several titles in the ring. Nor is Crawford a hip-hop novice. Back in July 2023, Crawford had Eminem perform “Lose Yourself” as his ring walk out track.

Fans now know of Crawford’s lighthearted sense of humor.

Latto ‘Hates’ That Her Song ‘Brokey’ Is Being Used To Shame ‘Hard Workers’ So The Rapper Issued A $10K Challenge

Ain’t no fun when the rabbit got the gun. Typically, fans cheer on Uproxx cover star Latto’s quippy one-liners. But that seems to only been when they are aimed at her rap foes like Nicki Minaj or Ice Spice. Supporters feel personally attacked by the lines in one of Latto’s Sugar Honey Iced Tea tracks.

Today (September 15), Latto offered clarity behind her latest viral track, “Brokey.” On X (formerly Twitter), expressed her displeasure with the song’s lyrics being used against everyday working folks before issuing a $10k challenge to them.

“I hate that y’all think I was calling hard workers brokeys 💔,” she wrote. “So I got $10k for whoever make the best video at they job to brokey & I’ll fly u out to be in the music video…no mo waiting til ur bday to go outta town. Tag me & hashtag #Brokey, so I can see them all.”

Users online jokingly called Latto out for further pushing the classist joke. “No mo waiting til ur bday to go outta town’ is so back handed😭,” wrote one user.

Latto laughed off the call-out, writing: “😂 Just a jokey.”

Malik Willis Didn’t Throw On A Third Down Because The Packers Center Puked On The Ball

malik-top
Getty Image

The Green Bay Packers picked up a pretty shocking Week 2 win at home to improve to 1-1 on the young season when they beat the Indianapolis Colts, 16-10. Before the year, a Packers win over Indy wouldn’t have been a shocker, but that was when everyone expected Jordan Love to be under center. Instead, it was Malik Willis making his first start in Green Bay after arriving to the team at the very end of camp, as Love suffered a knee injury in their opener in Brazil.

Willis struggled in his limited opportunities in Tennessee, and while he wasn’t asked to do much by the Packers on Sunday, he did show off some impressive game management ability. He was 12-of-14 for 122 yards and a touchdown, eliminating risks and letting the Packers defense dictate the game tempo as they dominated Anthony Richardson and the Colts offense. The best decision of the day from Willis may have been a ball he didn’t throw, which at the time looked like a bizarre enough decision that Packers coach Matt LaFleur asked him about it when he got to the sideline.

The reasoning from Willis was good enough that LaFleur couldn’t argue, as he was informed by Willis (and later the officials) that Packers center Josh Myers threw up on the football right before snapping it.

If, for some reason, you’d like to see the unedited video of a man throwing up on the ball, you can watch that here. Myers turns his head to the side and lets it rip before snapping a wet, disgusting football back to poor Willis. Credit to Malik for quickly realizing he’d been given a puke ball and that he should not try throwing it, as that was a turnover waiting to happen, so he just steps up, runs for what he can, and lets the Packers punt and continue playing defense. That’s all they needed to do to get the win, and hopefully next game they can avoid any more puke balls.
