Adele Confirms She Will Take ‘A Long Break’ After Her Residency Officially Wraps: ‘I Need A Rest’

In her own words, Adele is not “a big touring artist,” but her residencies have been a must attend show. Since 2022, the “Set Fire To The Rain” singer consistently sold out her Weekends With Adele Las Vegas dates. Now, she’s move on to conquer, Munich, Germany with record-breaking performances.

But don’t expect this run to extend much further. Yesterday (August 31), during her final set in Munich, Adele announced an indefinite hiatus. In a video captured by an attendee (viewable here) Adele broke the news to the packed audience.

“After that [remaining 10 shows in Vegas], I will not see you for an incredibly long time,” she said. “I will hold you dear in my heart for that whole length of my break. It has been amazing, I just need a rest. I’ve spent the last seven years building this life for myself, I want to live it now. I want to live my new life I’ve been building. I will miss you terribly.”

As she fought back tears, the crowd took over to sing “Someone Like You.”

Back in July, Adele first hinted at the break, so the announcement shouldn’t come by surprise. However, she’s also stated in January that for her next album she will officially tour the project. Just don’t expect that to be anytime soon.

With her recent engagement to Rich Paul and baby fever spiking, this much deserved break comes at the perfect time for Adele.

A Megan Thee Stallion And RM Song Has Been Confirmed As The Rapper’s Previously Teased BTS Collaboration

Megan Thee Stallion isn’t done collecting international collaborations. The “Down Stairs DJ” rapper might’ve hard launched her latest boo, but on August 30, she bread crumbed her next BTS collaboration.

Today (September 1), Megan Thee Stallion finally revealed the details surrounding the upcoming track. Over on X (formerly Twitter), Megan announced that her forthcoming song with BTS is actually a single with member RM.

“NEVA PLAY WITH RM OUT FRIDAY HOTTIES X ARMY 🔥💸 #MEGJOON,” she wrote.

She then went on to promise big things regarding “Neva Play.”

“PS. This is one of my favorite RM verses I’ve heard, she wrote. “I’ve never heard him rap in this style before 😎.”

Although BTS (and by association its members) are known for producing K-pop bangers, this won’t mark the first time they’ve dappled into rap. For RM that includes his album, Right Place, Wrong Person, which dropped in May.

This forthcoming record follows Megan Thee Stallion’s 2021 guest verse on BTS’ “Butter Remix.” At the time, the song’s rollout was reportedly nearly derailed after Megan Thee Stallion’s former label, 1501 Entertainment, supposedly attempted to block its release. It appears this go around is flowing much smoother.

“Neva Play” is out 9/6 via Hot Girl Productions/Big Hit. Find more information here.

No, Lana Del Rey Isn’t Dating A Louisianian Airboat Alligator Tour Guide, Despite The Viral Rumor

Lana Del Rey’s rocky dating history have been the center of her tantalizing tales. Across her discography, the “Life Lesson” singer has outlined the ins-and-outs of former flames.

As a hopeless romantic, Lana Del Rey continues to be pulled into fictional fan-fueled relationships with fellow musicians including Quavo. However, the latest Lana Del Rey dating rumor doesn’t include a celebrity rather an everyday working class man. Although it was easy to believe, Lana Del Rey has shutdown a viral claim that she was intimately connected to an alligator tour guide from Louisiana.

In the comment section of Just N Life‘s Instagram post about the whispers (viewable here), Lana Del Rey simply replied: “No.”

The rumors quickly spread online and one user came forward claiming to be the gentleman’s daughter. “In regard to my dad and Lana from my last few tweets, if there’s any type of update I’ll give it,” the user wrote. “But for now I’ve got nothing to give. I barely talk to my dad. Let alone care about his love life. I’m just shocked WHO he’s dating.”

However, Lana Del Rey also shut that down in her response. “Also, that’s not his daughter on Twitter,” she wrote.

It is unclear if the user responded to Lana’s remarks as their account has been switched to protected (or private).

If it was true, this wouldn’t have been the wildest part of Lana Del Rey’s romantic lore.

The Cure’s Roger O’Donnell Revealed That He Was Diagnosed With A ‘Very Rare’ Cancer, And Urged Others To ‘Get Tested’

The Cure is known for its no nonsense experimental sound. That same stick it to them attitude applies to the band’s public stances, most recently lead vocalist Robert Smith’s crusade against Ticketmaster.

Now, The Cure’s composer and musician, Roger O’Donnell, is using his voice for another worthy cause. Today (September 1) on X (formerly Twitter), O’Donnell revealed he was diagnosed with cancer in 2023. After receiving aggressive treatment, he is urging others to get tested while opening up about his road to recovery.

“September is Blood Cancer Awareness Month so it’s a good opportunity to have a dialogue about these diseases,” he wrote. “In September last year I was diagnosed with a very rare and aggressive form of lymphoma. I had ignored the symptoms for a few months but finally went and after surgery the result of the biopsy was devastating. I’ve now completed 11 months of treatment under some of the finest specialists in the world and with second opinions and advice from the teams that had developed the drugs I was being given.”

O’Donnell went on to discuss his treatment. “I had the benefit of the latest sci-fi immunotherapy and some drugs that were first used 100 years ago,” he wrote. “The last phase of treatment was radiotherapy which also was one of the first treatments developed against cancer. I’m fine, and the prognosis is amazing. The mad axe murderer knocked on the door, and we didn’t answer.”

He went on to encourage others to get screened and tested. “Cancer CAN be beaten but if you are diagnosed early enough you stand a way better chance,” he wrote. “So all I have to say is go GET TESTED, if you have the faintest thought you may have symptoms go and get checked out.”

What Are The Must-See Shows For September 2024?

Fight Night
Peacock

Several returning beloved TV series could dominate the coming month with Dad TV receiving strong representation, but that’s not the whole picture. A heist night, a murder mystery, and a Netflix series that is both loved and loathed promise to deliver variety in a month when weather will likely still be sweltering. Don’t worry, there will be plenty to watch from the cool comfort of your couch.

Here are the must-see shows (in order of premiere date) for September 2024:

Slow Horses: Season 4 (Apple TV+ series streaming 9/4)

Are you ready to see Jackson Lamb’s living space? Those and other messy thrills are coming to this world of f*cked up MI5 agents who find themselves handling matters of utmost national importance. This season follows Mick Herron’s fourth Slough House novel, Spook Street, and Jackson’s cadre of misfits will find themselves embroiled within a terror attack in a shopping district. Come for the action and intrigue, and stick around for a grumpy, farting Gary Oldman in the role of his life.

Fight Night: The Million Dollar Heist: Season 1 (Peacock series streaming 9/5)

This heist story is based upon iHeartRadio’s Fight Night podcast, which heads back to October 1970 when Muhammad Ali returned to boxing in what turned out to be the same evening that “Chicken Man” (Kevin Hart) pulled off a historical heist during a party full of ultra-wealthy post-fight patrons. By the end of the evening, multi-million-dollars of thievery went down, and this shockingly brazen crime spree became a longwinded headache for detective J.D. Hudson, one of Atlanta’s first Black detectives.

The Perfect Couple: Season 1 (Netflix series streaming 9/5)

Nicole Kidman has not-so-quietly been amassing TV series on HBO, Hulu, and Amazon, so it only makes sense that she would follow up her A Family Affair Netflix movie with a TV series on the same streaming service. This (presumably limited) series looks like a cross between The White Lotus and Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery with Kidman portraying the matriarch of a wealthy Nantucket family. In this adaptation of Elin Hilderbrand’s book, the fam is about to welcome a daughter-in-law, yet unfortunately, the wedding weekend turns into a murder scene, and the whodunit begins.

Power Book II: Ghost: Season 4 (Starz series streaming 9/6)

This series will unfurl its final season, and expect to see Tariq finding himself in the same plight as Ghost many years ago while Detective Carter circles. Despite that danger, multiple family members remain “too close to the game,” according to the Starz synopsis, while major changes sit on the horizon for another Power show. It’s never too late to dive into this crime saga, by the way, because the 50 Cent TV universe will stay alive elsewhere with the audience clearly here for it.

Emily in Paris: Season 4 Part 2 (Netflix series streaming 9/12)

Well, Emily got together with Gabriel in Part 1 of this season, but since this is a Darren Star series, no couple can stay happy for too long. Fortunately, Emily will leave Paris for other European destinations, so we will have a nice distraction from the romantic melodrama because you know that Camille is going to start circling again even though — let’s face it — she doesn’t even truly want Gabriel. Bring on the gorgeous scenery and ridiculous fashion already.

The Old Man: Season 2 (FX series releasing on 9/12, streaming on Hulu 9/13)

The Dude will always be Jeff Bridges’ most iconic role, but Dan Chase might not be too far behind when everything is said and done. Bridges embraces the John Wick-Meets-Taken vibe of this show revolving around a 75-year-old former assassin, who has still got “it,” but he’s not exactly in 1980s action hero shape. This season picks up with John Lithgow’s Harold Harper now on the move with Dan, and together, they will attempt to “rescue” Alia Shawkat’s Emily/Angela after she was kidnapped by warlord Faraz Hamzad. She might not be too willing to cooperate, however.

Agatha All Along: Season 1 (Disney+ series streaming 9/18)

Back in 2021, the news of Kathryn Hahn’s breakout WandaVision character receiving her own series was a welcome development, but since that time, Disney+ MCU series have lost their novelty. Hopefully, this show can help bring back the excitement with the help of this song, and then Jon Bernthal’s appearance as Frank Castle in Daredevil Born Again can help finish the job. Hey, Deadpool & Wolverine got the job of reinvigorating the MCU started, now it’s time to pass that torch.

The Penguin: Season 1 (Max series streaming 9/19)

And speaking of comic-book universes that sit in precarious territory… perhaps that’s an unfair statement. Matt Reeves’ The Batman sits outside the DCU, as does this spin off show with Colin Farrell’s Cobblepot navigating the Gotham underworld’s power vacuum and finding exactly where he fits in after the murder of mob boss Carmine Falcone by Paul Dano’s The Riddler. Farrell certainly gives this prosthetic-laden character his full energies with a New York accent to boot. The word “unrecognizable” is overused with transformations these days, but it works here.

The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon: The Book Of Carol (AMC series streaming on AMC+ 9/29)

The people wanted more of Norman Reedus’ Daryl, and they’re getting it with the other essential ingredient: Melissa McBride’s Carol Peltier. If we ever do face a zombie apocalypse, these two are the badasses that you’ll want to protect you, but for now, these ride-or-die fighters will be reunited in France before heading (in the third season) to Spain, and it’s simply nice to see Daryl finally receive a vacation after being stuck in Georgia for his entire pre-crisis life. Dreams do happen occasionally, man.

What’s Popular On Streaming Now

Selena Gomez Only Murders in the Building
Hulu

Every single week, our TV and film experts will list the most important ten streaming selections for you to pop into your queues. We’re not strictly operating upon reviews or accrued streaming clicks (although yes, we’ve scoured the streaming site charts) but, instead, upon those selections that are really worth noticing amid the churning sea of content. There’s a lot out there, after all, and your time is valuable.

10. Kinds Of Kindness – Searchlight Pictures film streaming on Hulu

Emma Stone and Margaret Qualley are here to dance, among other things, in Yorge Lanthimos’ (Dogtooth, The Killing of a Sacred Deer) latest bizarro movie. They are accompanied by Willem Defoe, Jesse Plemons, Hong Chau, Hunter Schafer, Joe Alwyn, and Mamoudou Athie in three stories that add up to an absurdist whole (as a triptych fable) that shouldn’t be taken at face value. There are, after all, dogs driving a car and not too much kindness to be found.

9. SupacellNetflix series

A second season will definitely be forthcoming, and The Boys fans will surely want to put this in their queues. The series shines a light on sickle cell disease, both for the suffering it presents and the strength of those who endure it. Tosin Cole, Adelayo Adedayo, Nadine Mills, Eric Abrefa, Josh Tedeku, and Calvin Demba fill out the core cast in this series that is written, created, and co-directed by Rapman (real name Andrew Onwubolu). These blue-collar heroes will also go through relationship issues galore in this multi-faceted saga.

8. Longlegs – Neon film on VOD & Amazon Prime

Maika Monroe is tasked with tracking down a Satanic serial killer (portrayed by Nicolas Cage like you’ve never seen him before) in this genuinely disturbing horror film from Legally Blonde actor Osgood Perkins. During this movie’s theatrical run, Longlegs became Neon’s highest grossing movie ever and the biggest indie movie of 2024. Viral marketing can kick ass sometimes.

7. Dark Winds – AMC series streaming on Netflix

This George R.R. Martin-produced crime drama qualifies as a sleeper series that I highly recommend binging at some point. (Mostly) Native American writers are doing the thing here with Tony Hillerman’s Leaphorn & Chee book series and the two 1970s Navajo cops (at a remote area near Monument Valley) who embark upon apparently unrelated crimes including a double murder case. In the process, they see things that make them think twice about their spiritual beliefs.

6. The Lord Of The Rings: The Rings Of PowerAmazon series

Jeff Bezo’s longstanding dream (to have his own Game of Thrones) continues in a season that nearly appeared out of the blue with the target audience focused on House of the Dragon. Still, it is time to mosey on down to Middle-earth where this endlessly epic production will not disappoint on the “feeling epic” front. Hopefully, social media can leave Morfydd Clark alone and focus on the entertainment at hand.

5. Only Murders In The BuildingHulu series

Selena Gomez is currently receiving Oscar buzz for her turn in Netflix’s Emilia Pérez, and she is front and central for the fourth season of her whodunnit comedy with Steve Martin and Martin Short. The podcasters/amateur investigators will be taking the murder subject from New York to Hollywood this year, and don’t worry about the venue change (from an audience viewpoint, at least) because Meryl Streep’s character will also be on the scene.

4. Bad MonkeyApple TV+ series

Vince Vaughn is here to put that True Detective season fully behind the public’s memory by returning to his comedic roots in this series adaptation of Carl Hiaasen’s cult-favorite and bestseller novel of the same name. Producer Bill Lawrence follows up his Ted Lasso feel-good vibes with this black comedy mixed with detective vibes when Vaughn’s Andrew Yancy, a former cop-turned-health-inspector, becomes involved in a mystery investigation. It happens, and co-stars include Rob Delaney, Jodie Turner-Smith, L.Scott Caldwell, Michelle Monaghan, Alex Moffat, and a dash of Zach Braff.

3. Kevin Can F**k Himself – AMC series streaming on Netflix

That 2021 series starring Annie Murphy is a tough but intoxicating pill to swallow as a satire to sitcoms like King of Queens (which stars Kevin James as, you know, a Kevin). However, the Kevin in this AMC show isn’t simply an annoying, sexist, and schlubby dude who is married to a beautiful and smart woman, Allison. He’s also emotionally abusive, controlling, and manipulative, and — did we mention that this gets dark? — and Allison decides that he must die. This series is actually so addictive that it prompted questions of whether a third season is possible. It’s the Netflix Effect.

2. The AccidentNetflix series

This dramatic gut-punch of a show is giving Emily In Paris a run for her high heels, but beware because the tone of The Accident is (as its title suggests), well, confusing, although it arguably should be completely tragic. Also, bouncy houses will look completely different in the future to all those who decide to watch, but anything more would ruin the experience for adventurous viewers looking for a weekend binge.

1. IndustryHBO series

Whenever this show comes to an end, Ken Leung should really receive a spin off so that he can portray Eric forever. With that wish list item said, This show has received plentiful comparisons to Euphoria but set in London’s financial sector, and these extremely messy characters are doing whatever it takes to both rise to the top of their career path and keep their sh*t together. They don’t succeed too well at the latter goal, but the show itself is leveling up and expanding horizons by throwing new challenges at its characters. Do not sleep on Industry‘s new season, and read our review here.

49ers Rookie Receiver Ricky Pearsall Was Reportedly Shot In A Robbery Attempt

The NFL season is just a week away from kicking off, and the San Francisco 49ers are among the favorites in the NFC. The Niners spent this offseason looking to bolster their offense, re-signing Christian McCaffrey and recently inking Brandon Aiyuk to an extension, while adding more receiver help in the Draft by taking Ricky Pearsall out of Florida late in the first round. The Niners took Pearsall in hopes of adding another dynamic pass catcher to their receiving corps, with high hopes that he could make an impact as a rookie on a title contender.

On Saturday, some unfortunate news broke out of San Francisco regarding the Niners top rookie, as multiple outlets reported that Pearsall had been shot in a robbery attempt in Union Square. KGO-TV’s Dion Lim broke the news, with ESPN’s Adam Schefter confirming, and NBC Bay Area’s Gia Vang provided a follow-up to note that Pearsall was in stable condition and the suspect was in custody. Niners star Deebo Samuel also provided a brief, positive update on Pearsall’s status, tweeting “He’s good🤞🏾🙏🏾. Thank god!!!!

According to San Francisco PD, via Sean Cunningham of FOX 40, Pearsall was shot through the chest while heading to a signing event in an attempted robbery of his Rolex. Both Pearsall and the subject were shot after a struggle for the gun and both are in stable condition.

It’s the second time in three years that an NFL rookie has been shot in a robbery attempt, as Commanders running back Brian Robinson was shot during an attempted carjacking in Washington D.C. just prior to the 2022 season. Robinson returned to the field in early October and has gone on to have a successful start to his NFL career, and hopefully Pearsall is able to follow suit with a full, speedy recovery to get on the field with the Niners after a tragic and senseless incident.
