Why Does Wizkid Have Beef With Davido?

Wizkid 2023 Essence Festival Of Culture

Wizkid is in album mode, as the Nigerian star promised his next album Morayo is on the way, but the upcoming campaign hasn’t stopped the singer from lashing out at a fellow afrobeats star. Over the past day, Wizkid has sent out several tweets directed at Davido, starting with one that read, “P*ssy boys dropping mids again! [heart and eagle emoji].” That post came a short time after Davido took to social media to tease an upcoming song. Just in case you’re not too sure that Wizkid’s tweet was directed at Davido, Wizkid made his feelings about Davido clear in later posts.

“I don’t beef wack n****s! We all know he’s wack! No talent! [eagle emoji],” Wizkid wrote in response to fan who said, “So if you no beef @davido your song won’t sell ??” Wizkid also addressed a recent interaction between him and Davido at a club, writing, “Want what? He looks for me everywhere I go like a fan boy he his! This was an event for one of my Dj’s Skyla in Lagos! We no invite dem!” With all that being said, why does Wizkid have been with Davido?

Why Does Wizkid Have Beef With Davido?

Both Davido and Wizkid have had issues with each other for a decade now. Back in 2014, sent out a tweet that read, “I already killed NY!! London 26th Sept!! Manchester 28th sept!!! Big surprise!! Still proper shows!! proper venues!!! #f*ckboysuckad*ck!!” Many believed the tweet was directed at Davido, and though Wizkid denied it in an interview with radio host Olisa Dibua, Davido later said that he felt that the tweet was directed at him in a separate interview with Dibua.

Things stayed quiet for a few years, but heated up once again after Davido said the “pon pon” sound — an afrobeats subgenre that blends highlife and dancehall — was most popular at the time while other sounds were “less.” This was taken as a swipe at Wizkid, who had recently dropped his third album Sound From The Other Side. Wizkid later responded on Twitter, writing, “My people make una remember to say Yankee passport no be baba blue, e no dey cure frog voice.” The tweet essentially says that Davido’s close ties to the American music culture won’t hide his “frog voice.”

In 2018, during an interview with Native Magazine, Davido revealed that he and Wizkid squashed their beef after admitting that things “got physical between our camps.” It appeared as if things would stay that way going forward as both artists appeared as guest acts at one another’s concerts — first with Wizkid appearing at Davido’s 30 BG concert and then with Davido popping out at Wizkid’s Eko Hotel Concert.

For the next few years, things seemed to be good between Davido and Wizkid, outside of some fan-fueled issues (something Davido ssaid was behind him adn Wizkid’s beef during a 2023 Drink Champs interview). After the tragic death of Davido’s son in 2022, Wizkid delayed his fifth album More Love, Less Ego as tribute to Davido’s loss. Wizkid later announced that he and Davido would go on a tour following the release of More Love, Less Ego. Davido and Wizkid closed 2023 on good terms, as a Davido excitedly announced Wizkid’s S2 EP on Twitter, but the good times quickly came to an end at the turn of the year.

After dropping his remix to Kizz Daniel’s “Twe Twe,” Davido tweeted, “We no dey do ‘it will grow on u’ for here … [We don’t do ‘it will grow on u’ here…],” a message that fans believed was a diss toward Wizkid. In April 2024, Davido and Wizkid’s beef was back in full swing after a Wizkid rant resulted in him calling legendary Nigerian afrobeats producer Don Jazzy an “influencer.” Wizkid also mocked Davido by posting a video of him crying in response to fans who begged him to release new music.

Later that day, Davido responded, writing, “Dem no know ur gbedu again [They don’t know your music anymore].” Things took a turn for the worse when Wizkid replied, writing, “U and all ur crew plus ur pant washer songwriter go to sleep at night thinking you actually got anything on me in music wish u all well.” Davido would go on to call Wizkid “delusional” and a “sick man” before adding that he “stopped wasting my clout and jeopardizing my millions of USD of endorsements on someone whose career was resurrected a few years ago just to die again.” Wizkid later claimed that he could “retire today and you are still not on my level,” adding that Davido is “an influencer with a songwriter.”

That brings us to this week’s war of words between Wizkid and Davido. This time around, it’s mostly Wizkid doing the talking as Davido has yet to respond. The reason for Wizkid’s latest disses at Davido is unknown, but you can view all of his insults at the fellow afrobeats star in the tweets below.

Diddy’s Sex Trafficking Case: A Timeline Of Events & Everything We Know So Far

Less than a year after he was sued by ex-girlfriend Cassie Ventura for alleged sexual assault and domestic abuse, Sean “Diddy” Combs was arrested and charged with a slew of federal crimes, including racketeering and sex trafficking. See below for a timeline of the events surrounding the arrest.

March 25: Diddy’s Homes In Los Angeles And Miami Raided By Federal Agents

In the months leading up to the raids on Diddy’s properties, the mogul had been the subject of a torrent of sexual assault and harassment lawsuits filed by multiple women — and one former collaborator — following his settlement of the initial suit from Ventura.

On March 25, 2024, it was reported that Homeland Security agents had raided Combs’ homes, detaining several people, including members of his family. Among the items seized were illegal weapons. Diddy later listed one of the homes for $62 million.

September 16: Diddy Is Taken Into Federal Custody

In the months following the raids, several new lawsuits were filed, including one from former Danity Kane member Dawn Richard. On September 16, 2024, Diddy was arrested and taken to the federal building in Manhattan, where it was later revealed that his arrest was connected to an indictment that would be unsealed the next day.

September 17: The Charges Against Diddy Were Revealed

With the indictment unsealed, the truth was revealed: Diddy had been charged with racketeering conspiracy; sex trafficking by force, fraud or coercion; and transportation to engage in prostitution.

September 18: Diddy Denied Bail; Appeals; Denied Again

While Diddy and his attorney Marc Agnifilo maintained the music mogul’s innocence, prosecutors argued that his freedom constituted a threat to the case. US Magistrate Judge Robyn F. Tarnofsky agreed, denying their $50 million bail proposal. Combs’ defense filed an appeal, but was denied bail a second time by Judge Andrew L. Carter. Both judges cited worries that Combs could attempt to influence the outcome of a potential trial, as he had already contacted witnesses since learning of the investigation against him.

October 1: Diddy Applies For Bail A Third Time With A New Legal Team

In the wake of the previous setbacks vis a vis his bond request, Combs added two new attorneys to his defense, Anthony Ricco and Alexandra Shapiro, before applying for bond a third time. While the results of that request have yet to be announced, it’ll be difficult for him to address the primary concern, which is that he could tamper with witnesses.

In the meantime, more charges against Combs could be forthcoming as further details of the investigation come to light and his alleged co-conspirators are named in the future.

‘The Night Agent’ Season 2: Everything To Know So Far About The Irresistible Spy Series’ Next Chapter (Oct. 2024 Update)

Night Agent
Netflix

You can’t browse streaming services for more than a moment without hitting a currently running spy series. They are everywhere, including Mr. & Mrs. Smith, Slow Horses, Citadel, and The Old Man. One of the more difficult-to-avoid-binging options, however, is Netflix’s The Night Agent, which brings a semi-unique twist of tossing an inexperienced basement FBI desk agent out into the field, where all hell breaks loose. Sure, the writing is not exactly prestige TV, especially where dialogue is concerned, and this is most decidedly digestible fare rather than complex, but you know what? That is more than alright.

Darn it, The Night Agent is inexplicably likable, and that is only one of the reasons why this show sits at Spot 7 (with 800,000,000+ hours streamed) on overall Netflix’s Top 10 TV Series (English). Netflix did not hesitate to renew the series, and production took off again like an espionage-fueled rocket. Basso’s Peter has climbed out of the basement for the long term, so let’s talk about what he might be chasing in the second season.

Plot

This season will go off book after the first season adapted Matthew Quirk’s same-named book about FBI Agent Peter Sutherland, who took a fateful phone call that set the action wheels in motion. So, there technically isn’t any source material from which to draw clues, but we do know that Peter will formally get his feet wet in the Night Action program. That also means that he won’t be solely D.C-based and will head abroad with the show filming part of this season in Thailand as well as stateside, mainly in Manhattan. Peter will be learning the ropes from Catherine, but simply because he’s left his usual stomping grounds doesn’t mean that won’t see familiar characters.

Luciane Buchanan’s Rose will return, and and Peter does notably have “some unfinished business” with Hong Chau’s White House Chief of Staff Diane Farr. In other words, she must have survived her gun wounds, although whether she will be on the hook for treason remains to be seen.

What is a sure thing, however, is that filming is complete on the second season, and showrunner Shawn Ryan went several steps further according to TV Line, which quotes him as declaring, “[W]e have finished editing all 10 episodes and are just working on sound, music and VFX. We’re working hard to have the episodes ready for fans as soon as possible!” Sure, fans are antsy for more Night-Agent-ing, but this show is still managing an impressive schedule after debuting in March 2023 and now hitting the home stretch. How fast has the production been motoring? Deadline has that insight:

The Night Agent is on a very tight schedule as Netflix announced last week that Season 2 will premiere in 2024. Getting a 10-episode season of an elaborate action drama series ready before end of the year will be a major feat, especially given the fact that series on a global streamer like Netflix take longer to release because they also have to undergo dubbing/subtitling for the various territories.

A few more things worth mentioning before we move to cast, etc:

(1) Word of third season has been swirling, so Peter had better finish that learning curve;

(2) Showrunner Sean Ryan has “sign[ed] a big, four-year overall deal,” which “has been described as ‘pretty remarkable’ in the current economic environment’” with Netflix. This could forecast spin offs in the works but most certainly more seasons.

Cast

Louis Herthum will debut this season as Berto Colon, a global-strings puller and boss of an ex-Marine fixer. Brittany Snow will appear as Catherine, Peter’s much more seasoned partner. Teddy Sears and Arienne Mandi will also join the cast.

On the returning side: Basso is back in action with Luciane Buchanan and Hong Chau as confirmed returning cast members. Thus far, the streamer hasn’t revealed whether D.B. Woodside, Eve Harlow, Fola Evans-Akingbola, Sarah Desjardins, and/or Enrique Murciano will surface onscreen in any timeline.

Release Date

A quick tease in this Netflix sizzle reel stresses 2024.

Trailer

Netflix is holding back on a teaser or a full trailer, but here’s Gabriel Basso discussing how he nearly didn’t get this role because of a beard.

Kaytranada And Childish Gambino Start Spooky Season Right By Linking Up For A ‘Witchy’ Video

Kaytranada had a noteworthy 2023, thanks primarily to Kaytraminé, his collaborative album with Aminé. He’s had a big 2024, too, with the June release of his latest album, Timeless, which includes the Childish Gambino collaboration “Witchy.” Given that October is here and Halloween is weeks away, the duo figured now would be an appropriate time to give the song a new video.

The new visual sees the pair performing the song in a dark studio environment, where they interact with some supernatural women, mirroring the song’s lyrics.

On the track, Gambino sings of a special someone who inspires mystical feelings: “I can feel you in the night / No lie / I don’t want no other vibe / No lie / I been missing somethin’ / That I cannot control / When I’m near, in your arms, in your eyes / I realize it’s voodoo / You make me feel like I’ve been floatin’ / This ain’t no spell, you got me open, girl / You’re being witchy and I love it, girl.”

“Witchy” broke new ground for Gambino this summer: It debuted at No. 19 on Billboard‘s Dance/Electronic Streaming Songs chart, giving Gambino his first ever placement on that particular chart. Indeed, it’s a song Gambino has embraced, as at the first show of The New World Tour in August, he gave “Witchy” its live debut.

Sabrina Carpenter Doesn’t Even Order Espresso Anymore: ‘I’ve Intentionally Stopped Myself From Getting Them Now’

Sabrina Carpenter was just named to Time‘s Time100 Next list, meaning she’s one of 100 selected “emerging leaders from across the world who are shaping the future.” One way Carpenter has shaped her present (and possibly her future) is via her hit single “Espresso.”

The Time feature notes that while sitting at a French restaurant for an interview, Carpenter ordered a cappuccino. Of not ordering an espresso, she explained, “I’ve intentionally stopped myself from getting them now.”

She also spoke on the topic in an August interview with Apple Music’s Zane Lowe (as Billboard notes), talking about feeling a sense of ownership over the word: “What’s so crazy, this is the part of me that feels like an idiot. Every time I see a cafe, there’s just a sign that says ‘espresso,’ and I’m like, ‘Yes.’ Nothing to do with me.” She added, “I do have to question ordering [espressos] a lot now. They’re just waiting for me to say it and I’m like, ‘Tea.’”

Elsewhere in the feature, she spoke about how a number of childhood dreams have been coming true for her lately, saying, “There were so many things I dreamt of doing as a little girl I got to do this year that felt like such a cool, sweet, little bucket-list moment for my younger self. I literally threw up when I found out about SNL. Not to be graphic.” She also said of performing at the MTV VMAs, “I grew up watching those performances and being like, ‘I want to do that.’”

The Next ‘Reacher’ Series: Everything To Know About Amazon Spinning Off One Of The Big Guy’s ‘Special Investigators’

Reacher
Amazon

Reacher‘s third season finished filming earlier this summer with leading man Alan Ritchson heading into hiatus with various projects including a revenge-motivated disco-rock movie, but Amazon knows a hit franchise when they feel one. The enormously successful Dad TV show also made an important break from Lee Child’s books by moving slightly past Jack Reacher being the only character who will appear in each chapter.

That is to say, Frances Neagley will join Reacher in come capacity each season, beginning with the first season, based upon The Killing Floor, in which Maria Sten’s character made a brief appearance although she does not appear in that book. This also helped the flow between seasons when Neagley sent up an ATM-fueled flare to call Reacher into action in the Bad Luck and Trouble-adapting second chapter of the Prime Video series. Amazon hasn’t revealed how much of Neagley that we will see in the third season, which will be based upon the Persuader novel. We do know, however, that Reacher will fight somebody bigger than him, and we can speculate that Neagley will save Reacher’s ass on the planning front.

Amazon has naturally begun to mull over Reacher spin offs, and whaddya know, guess whose name came up?

Plot

Prime Video/Amazon

Deadline scored the initial word on this spin off, which is being fast tracked:

Prime Video is looking to turn another flagship drama series into a franchise. A spinoff from Reacher is on fast-track development at the streamer and poised for a greenlight, sources tell Deadline.

Titled Neagley, I hear the offshoot would center on Maria Sten’s fan favorite character Frances Neagley, a corporate security professional and former military colleague of Jack Reacher (Alan Ritchson) in the Army’s 110th Special Investigations Unit. Ritchson is set to appear on the spinoff as a guest star, reprising his role as Reacher, sources said.

This week, Prime/Video Amazon made that announcement official.

What would a Neagly series be about? Probably rocket launchers and grenades. In all seriousness, though, the sky would be the limit for Neagley’s security-based adventures, and it’s easy to imagine her investigating heavy-duty, federally-prosecuted, white collar crimes. And Maria Sten’s charisma is well known to Reacher viewers after Frances Neagley went into regular cast mode in the second season of Reacher, where she originated as a member of Reacher’s military police unit, i.e. the “Special Investigators”:

Prime Video/Amazon

She emerged in the present day as a Reacher sidekick, so that he’s not a lone wolf (at least not totally) in the series, and damn, I gotta admit that it’s nice to see a female central to this series who will also never be a fleeting Reacher love interest. Readers will know this especially due to Child’s Night School novel, in which Reacher mentions that Neagley’s aversion to touch is actually rooted in haptephobia, meaning that she actually fears being touched by others. We do know, however, that she very much loves to give Reacher a hard time, always knows what to order for him in a restaurant, and if she had it her way, she would eat cereal for nearly every meal.

Cast

Thus far, the only rumored cast member would be Maria Sten as Francis Neagley, but we could probably assume that Alan Ritchson would at least make an appearance as Reacher to get the show started off right. Is it too much to hope that the TV gods would remember how much viewers enjoyed Willa Fitzgerald’s Roscoe Conklin and give her a cameo, too? Perhaps.

Release Date

Reacher‘s third season arrives sometime in 2025, and if Neagley’s show comes together, Amazon would likely put this spin off on a rotating schedule, so 2026 sounds likely.

Trailer

In the absence of cameras rolling on a spin off, here’s a look back at Neagley’s cereal obsession taking root in Reacher‘s first season.

The Knicks Exploited A CBA Loophole To Pull Off The Karl-Anthony Towns Trade

kat-randle-top (1)
Getty Image

Karl-Anthony Towns is officially a member of the New York Knicks, as the stunning trade that broke last Friday was finalized on Wednesday, as the Knicks, Timberwolves, Hornets, and the league worked out all of the final details to make the trade legal under the collective bargaining agreement.

The final deal sends Towns and the draft rights to James Nnaji to the Knicks, Julius Randle, Donte DiVincenzo, Keita Bates-Diop, and a future pick to the Wolves, and DaQuan Jeffries, Charlie Brown, Duane Washington Jr., and two future second round picks to the Hornets. Under the new CBA, pulling off this deal was incredibly complicated because the Knicks are a first apron team, putting restrictions on aggregating salaries and taking money back in a deal. As such, they had to get very creative in crafting this deal, signing and trading away players they still held free agent rights on to Charlotte to make it financially viable.

Not only did they have to sign guys to trade them, they also had to sign players to deals worth more than the minimum, as apron teams cannot aggregate minimum salaries to match money in a trade. As Fred Katz of The Athletic reported on Wednesday, the Knicks found a loophole in the CBA and signed those players they traded to the Hornets to deals worth $1 more than the minimum to meet that requirement.

Katz noted the league isn’t exactly thrilled the Knicks figured out this loophole, and you can expect that to be closed up by next offseason — how, specifically, we’ll have to wait and see. Still, it’s fantastic work by the Knicks to figure out a way to make this happen and it continues their turn from a laughingstock as a franchise for a decade-plus to one of the smartest front offices in the NBA.

When Will ‘NCIS: Origins’ And ‘NCIS: Tony And Ziva’ Premiere?

ncis-cast-feat-lg
Kevin Lynch/CBS

NCIS viewers are accustomed to heartache and waiting. The original cast has almost entirely come and gone, and heck, even Leroy Jethro Gibbs left the Navy Yard building. However, CBS and Paramount+ have come together to give the fans what they want — well, other than that NCIS: Hawai’i cancellation — with two spin offs that will bring beloved characters back to the small screen.

Mark Harmon will indeed appear in the NCIS: Origins prequel, although he will only be briefly seen and more often heard after leaving the flagship series in Season 19. To make matters more enticing, both Cote de Pablo and Michael Weatherly will return in a concurrently-set series, NCIS: Tony and Ziva, which will take the franchise to Europe with both romance and soap operatics, much like the old days. That news is all well and good, but let’s get to the most important question.

When Will NCIS: Origins And NCIS: Tony And Ziva Premiere?

CBS’ NCIS: Origins debuts on Monday, October 14 with a two-hour premiere and will stream on Paramount+. Simple as that.

CBS Studios hasn’t publicized a date for the NCIS: Tony and Ziva return, but Spring 2025 is a solid bet. However, this series will primarily live on Paramount+ rather than on CBS with a set time slot. However, there’s no rule saying that the show might not eventually appear on CBS, too, but as with plenty of Taylor Sheridan shows (which are also sporadically popping up on CBS), Paramount+ will be Ziva and Tony’s main stomping grounds. So there.
