Cardi B Clapped Back At Elon Musk’s Kamala Harris Campaign ‘Puppet’ Comment After The Rapper Delivered A Viral Endorsement Speech

Cardi B is facing backlash after vowing not to vote in the 2024 presidential election then later publicly endorsing Vice President Kamala Harris. Although the “Bongos” rapper outlined her shift to supporters, Elon Musk isn’t quite sold.

Yesterday (November 2), Musk took to her personal X (formerly Twitter) page to call out Cardi B. In his post, he accused Cardi B of being a “puppet” for Kamala Harris’ 2024 presidential campaign. Never one to back down from a war of words, Cardi B clapped by at Musk’s remarks.

“I’m not a puppet Elon,” she wrote. I’m a daughter of two immigrant parents that had to work their ass off to provide for me! I’m a product of welfare, I’m a product of section 8, I’m a product of poverty, and I’m a product of what happens when the system is set up against you.”

But Cardi B didn’t stop. She went on to turn the pages on Musk, writing: “But you don’t know nothing about that. You don’t know not one thing about the American struggle.”

Cardi closed with “PS fix my algorithm,” a dig at the controversial way Musk has been running the platform since acquiring Twitter back in October 2022.

While Cardi has faced much harsher remarks in the past, Musk should be weary of his words considering he is already facing a cyberbullying lawsuit filed by boxer Imane Khelif.

Kevin Durant Is Tired Of Hearing About Leadership From ‘Clown’ Stephen A. Smith

The Phoenix Suns picked up their fourth straight win on Saturday night in Portland, improving to 5-1 on the young season to remain tied for second in the West with the Warriors, a game back of the NBA’s last remaining undefeated team, Oklahoma City.

It’s the second season for the Suns star trio being all together, and that has, historically, been when those teams take a leap if they ever do. The first year is figuring out how it all should work and learning how not to step on each other’s toes, and then the second year is when we find out if the ceiling really is as high as it appears on paper. For that reason, the strong start to this season is a very good sign for the Suns, even if there’s still a long way to go this season in confirming their status as a top threat in the West.

An additional subplot to this Suns season is that of Kevin Durant’s reputation, as the future Hall of Famer still gets nagged about whether he’s an effective leader, largely because his greatest team success came when he joined the Warriors where it was clearly Stephen Curry’s team. Charles Barkley has prodded at KD pretty consistently, calling him a follower and bus rider, while Stephen A. Smith regularly takes aim at Durant’s leadership as the thing he lacks compared to other top stars of his generation.

Durant and his Suns teammates and coaches have scoffed at that notion, and on Saturday night Durant was again asked the leadership question by Doug Haller of The Athletic and had some pointed words for Stephen A., calling him “a clown.”

“Yeah, Stephen A., I don’t understand how people even listen to Stephen A.,” he told The Athletic. “I’ve been in the league for 18 years. I’ve never seen Stephen A. at a practice, or a film session, or a shoot-around. I’ve never seen him anywhere but on TV talking s— about players. … He’s a clown to me. He’s always been a clown. You can write that, too.”

Durant went on to note that he isn’t taking a different approach or trying to be more vocal this year, insisting that he’s going about his business as always. He bristled, in particular, at commentary from the likes of Smith that he is aloof and distant from his teammates, which his Suns teammates push back on as well when asked by Haller.

“To say that I’m just sitting here, you paint this picture of me coming into the locker room, not talking to my teammates, quiet, not talking to my coaches,” Durant said. “Like, come on, man. It’s just ridiculous.”

Durant is far from the only NBA star who gets frustrated by Smith’s commentary and, particularly, when he offers up sourced reporting despite not being on the ground covering the league on the road regularly. Smith certainly knows a ton of people in and around the league, but players and fans are constantly skeptical of what he says, largely because it often feels his opinion and any reporting get blended together all into one. That makes it tough to separate the two, especially because he can’t help but go over the top with how he presents things. Durant has voiced his annoyance with Smith in the past, but this is some of his firmest criticism that hasn’t been levied on Twitter.

Morrissey Abruptly Ended His Recent Show But For Good Reason, After Several Fans Stormed The Stage Reportedly Injuring Security

Similar to another musician (that won’t be named), Morrissey has built a reputation among fans for being a “chronic concert canceler.” In the past the “Something Is Squeezing My Skull” singer has cancelled gigs after he was actually scheduled to be onstage.

However, yesterday (November 2), Morrissey’s decision to abruptly end his show was completely justifiable. During Morrissey’s appearance at Fair Park Music Hall in Dallas, Texas, one concertgoer managed to slip on stage to embrace him. Although Morrissey kindly returned the favor before security intervened, it grew far beyond anyone’s control. Shortly after the unidentified woman was beginning to be escorted off the stage, other ticket holders jumped on the unsanctioned meet-and-greet.

In the video obtained by TMZ, another woman appears to have hoped the stage’s barrier to hug Morrissey. But as the venue’s security attempts to block the woman’s physical advances a man takes the stage. The spontaneous incident overwhelm the protective detail after one guard loses their balance.

TMZ claims one bodyguard injured their leg during the stage rush. Morrissey on the other hand was successful rushed off-stage without injury.

Morrissey has not released a statement regarding the incident. Although this matter isn’t ideal, this sure beats fans hurling objects at entertainers mid-show.

DeMar DeRozan Trolls Drake After The Rapper And His OVO Crew’s Suspenseful Courtside Stare Down

Drake Chubbs Sacramento Kings v Toronto Raptors 2024 (1024x437))
Getty Image

You may have moved past Kendrick Lamar’s chart-topping Drake diss, “Not Like Like Us.” But Drake surely hasn’t. After Akademiks dispelled rumors of a reconciliation between Drake and Future, the “First Person Shooter” rapper attempted to flex his star power against another foe.

Yesterday (November 2), Drake attended the Toronto Raptors and the Sacramento Kings game at Scotiabank Arena. Instead of focusing on the friendly matchup, Drake and his longtime friend Nessel “Chubbs” Beezer decided to laser in on former Raptors star DeMar DeRozan (now the the Kings). Throughout the game, Drake could be heard hurling remarks at DeRozan (supposedly including “p*ssy” and “goof“), and it doesn’t seem to be sports related tension.

At one point, Drake and Chubbs (both courtside) can be seen standing up and staring down DeRozan (viewable here). Well, just as viewers at home caught the suspenseful moment, so did DeRozan. Over on Instagram, DeMar DeRozan decided to troll Drake back by posting a video clip from Friday (viewable here).

In the scene, starring Ice Cube (playing Craig) and Chris Tucker (playing Smokey), Tucker’s character attempts to regain tough points after being punked by the neighborhood bully, Deebo (played by the late Tommy Lister). “I got mind control over Deebo,” says Tucker. “He be like shut the f*ck up. I be quiet. But when he leaves I be talking again.”

This comes after Drake vowed to “pull down” DeRozan’s number should the Raptors ever decide to retire it after Vincent Carter’s number retirement celebration.

DeRozan claimed that he and Drake were “still family” even after he appeared in the “Not Like Us” music video. However, it appears Drake doesn’t feel that same.

Lil Wayne Says The Super Bowl Halftime Show Was ‘Ripped Away’ From Him, Ahead Of The Hot Boys Reunion

Like many hip-hop heads, Lil Wayne felt confident out his bid for the 2025 Apple Music Super Bowl Halftime show slot to Kendrick Lamar. However, home field advantage didn’t serve the “Bless” rapper any good in this instance. Yesterday (November 2), when he returned to New Orleans for Lil Weezyana Fest 2024 he was sure to air out his grievances.

In between songs, Lil Wayne addressed the matter with a passionate speech (viewable here). “When the first Super Bowl was here I made sure I bought tickets at the beginning of the season,” he said. “I did the same when I moved to Miami, and I was wishing my team made it again. I was able to give my momma that suite. She was able to bring my family and other people from New Orleans, and they had a f*cking ball.”

He continued: “That moment I said to myself, I wanna be on stage for the Super Bowl in front of my mom and I worked my ass off to get that f*cking position. And it was ripped away from me but this motherf*cking moment right here… they can’t take this from me.”

Although Lil Wayne couldn’t celebrate what he imagined was a sure thing at home, he was part of something else worth celebrating. After a failed attempted during Essence Fest 2024, every member of the Hot Boys (Lil Wayne, Juvenile, Turk, and B.G.) finally reunited onstage for the first time in 15 years. The group delivered a nostalgic set (viewable here) of their Southern classics “Get Your Roll On,” “Still Fly,” and more.

‘House Of Guinness’: Everything To Know So Far About The ‘Brewery Dynasty Drama’ Series Written By The ‘Peaky Blinders’ Creator

steven-knight
Getty Image

Peaky Blinders creator and writer Steven Knight remains one of the busiest creative minds in the business.

He recently began production on the WWII-set Peaky Blinders movie, and Knight’s A Thousand Blows series (focusing on a different historically reigning gang) will arrive on Hulu next year. Yet that’s not everything that his mind has in store for us. An upcoming Netflix series, House Of Guinness, will explore the drama behind the family behind the enduring brewery. Let’s leap headfirst into what we can expect.

Plot

House Of Guinness began filming over the summer (according to Netflix UK), and make no mistake, the scripts hail from Steven Knight, but did you think that he would have time to direct this puppy, too? (He can’t do everything at once, and his recent departure from a Star Wars flick helps prove that point.)

The eight-episode first season is being directed by Tom Shankland (Netflix’s The Serpent and The Punisher) and Mounia Akl (Costa Brava, Lebanon and Submarine). And because the series is (rightfully) being referred to as a “brewery dynasty drama” by Deadline and elsewhere, both The Crown and Succession do spring to mind. Yet surely, the involved creatives anticipated those comparisons and have surprises in store.

Netflix UK recently revealed that the series, like Peaky Blinders, won’t be a straight-up rehashing of history but “reimagines the period immediately after the death of Sir Benjamin Guinness, the man responsible for the extraordinary success of the Guinness brewery.” Netflix also provided a synopsis:

HOUSE OF GUINNESS will tell the epic story of one of Europe’s most famous and enduring dynasties – The Guinness Family. Set in 19th-century Dublin and New York, will focus on the consequences of the death of Benjamin Guinness, the man responsible for the extraordinary success of the Guinness brewery, and the far-reaching impact of his cunning will on the fate of his four adult children, Arthur, Edward, Anne, and Ben, as well as on a group of Dublin characters who work and interact with the growing juggernaut that is Guinness.

Cast

Getty Image

Deadline reported on the extensive casting including Sir Benjamin Guinness’ four adult children: Anthony Boyle (seen above and star of Masters of the Air and Manhunt) as Arthur, Louis Partridge (Enola Holmes) as Edward, Emily Fairn (The Responder) as Anne, and Fionn O’Shea (Normal People) as Benjamin.

Various other Dublin business types and associated parties will be portrayed by Jack Gleeson (once known as Joffrey Baratheon from Game of Thrones) as well as James Norton, Seamus O’Hara, Dervla Kirwan, Niamh McCormack, Michael McElhatton, Danielle Galligan, David Wilmot, and Hilda Fay.

Release Date

Guinness aficionados and Knight devotees can expect this to land before the Peaky Blinders movie, but Netflix is staying quiet on a specific date. Late 2025 should be a safe guess.

Trailer

We have to have some fun with a missing trailer or footage, right? Please enjoy Jason Momoa going wild over Guinness. He tears through the streets while screaming before rushing into a pub to shout, “I’m f*cking Irish!”

Bless his little cotton socks.

‘Fire Country’ Season 3: Everything To Know About Jared Padalecki’s Introduction To The Hit CBS Series (Including A Possible Spin Off?)

Jared Padalecki
cbs

Even the most dedicated CBS viewer has a hard time keeping track of all the network’s spin offs. NCIS has been around since 2003, but now there’s NCIS: Sydney, NCIS: Origins, and the upcoming NCIS: Tony & Ziva. CBS also has FBI, FBI: Most Wanted, and FBI: International, as well as the delightful Elsbeth, based on Carrie Preston’s character from The Good Wife and The Good Fight.

But that’s not at all!

Fire Country already has one announced spin off starring Morena Baccarin and possibly another with Jared Padalecki, who is making his debut in season 3 of the original series later this month. If you’re a fan of the actor’s work in his many shows, including Gilmore Girls, Supernatural, and Walker, you might be wondering what this firefighter drama is all about. We have you covered.

Here’s everything to know about Fire Country.

Plot

Fire Country is about Bode Leone, who, midway through a five-year prison stretch, signs up for “an unconventional prison-release program: in exchange for reduced sentences, convicts are paired with firefighters battling Northern California wildfires,” according to the official plot synopsis from CBS. “The heat is turned up when Bode’s assigned to the program in his rural hometown, the place where all his troubles began.” If you want to catch up on everything that’s happened, season 1 is on Netflix and seasons 1 and 2 are on Paramount Plus, but let’s fast forward to season 3 where Bode is still putting his life on the line on his way to becoming a full-time firefighter.

One of the big arcs this season is the introduction of Camden Casey, played by Jared Padalecki. The character is described as a “maverick with a surfer swagger who is a force to be reckoned with and immediately recognizes Bode’s raw talent.”

Fire Country showrunner Tia Napolitano teased how the Gilmore Girls alum will shake things up. “Everyone sort of treats Bode like this tiger they’re trying to tame,” she told TV Line, “and Camden kind of says, ‘Why would you try to tame a tiger? Like, let him out!’ He leans into Bode’s dangerous side, his raw talent, his instincts, all of these things that we’ve sort of tried to keep in check for his own success. He fans the flames of Bode’s instincts in a really fun way.”

Padalecki will appear in three episodes beginning November 15, but that might not be the last we see of Camden. Deadline reports that “there is a possibility for the guest stint to lead to a new spinoff headlined by him.” Padalecki has consistently been on television since 2000, when he made his Gilmore Girls debut. Don’t bet against him headlining another show.

Cast

Fire Country stars Max Thieriot as inmate-turned-firefighter Bode Leone; Diane Farr and Billy Burke as Sharon and Vince Leone, Bode’s mother and father; Stephanie Arcila as firefighter and paramedic Gabriela Perez; and Jordan Calloway, Jules Latimer, and Kevin Alejandro as firefighters Jake Crawford, Eve Edwards, and Manny Perez (there’s a lot of firefighters on the firefighters show).

Release Date

Fire Country airs on CBS on Friday nights at 9 pm. You can also watch new episodes the next day on Paramount Plus.

Trailer

If you’re familiar with Jared Padalecki but haven’t seen Fire Country, you can watch the original trailer for the series below. If you’re familiar with Fire Country but don’t know anything about Jared Padalecki, there’s lots of Gilmore Girls and Supernatural and Walker to catch up on. Better start… NOW.

What’s Popular On Streaming Now

substance movie
mubi

Every single week, our TV and film experts will list the most important ten streaming selections for you to pop into your queues. We’re not strictly operating upon reviews or accrued streaming clicks (although yes, we’ve scoured the streaming site charts) but, instead, upon those selections that are really worth noticing amid the churning sea of content. There’s a lot out there, after all, and your time is valuable.

10. TeacupPeacock series

The spooky season has wound down with the conclusion of this James Wan-produced series that is inspired by Robert McCammon’s Bram Stoker Award-nominated Stinger book. As with The Substance (which is higher up on this list), there’s a gross-out factor to be had, but this is more straight-up horror that is aided by the presence of The Strangers‘ Scott Speedman. For now, we await word of additional seasons.

9. TerritoryNetflix series

You might have heard the debate on whether this is “the next Yellowstone.” Well, the Australian series takes place on within The Outback and involves fellow cattle barons and wealthy villains attempting to seize a family ranch, but that might be where the similarities end (at least for now). Surely, a second-season renewal is forthcoming for this Neo-Western show that instantly sped up the streaming charts and managed to beat Kurt Sutter’s (or what used to be Kurt Sutter’s) The Abandons to the small screen. FYI, Netflix also has American Primeval coming next year for Western fans, too.

8. Don’t MoveNetflix movie

You surely have heard about “the man or the bear in a forest” question that periodically circles the Internet. That’s this movie in a nutshell. Also, Evil Dead franchise creator Sam Raimi produces, so you know this will be a sick watch.

7. Escape At Dannemora – Showtime series streaming on Netflix

Netflix has done it again by reigniting interest for a long-off-the-airwaves series, but also, this limited series might help tide over those who are waiting for Ben Stiller’s Severance to return in January. The Stiller-directed Escape At Dannemora is based upon a real-life prison break of a pair of murderers, Richard Matt and David Sweat (portrayed by Benicio del Toro and Paul Dano), who happened to have help from a prison employee (Patricia Arquette) who also took special interest in both of these men.

6. The PenguinMax series

Colin Farrell has made it known, repeatedly, that he doesn’t enjoy the extensive prosthetics involved with portraying Oswald Cobblepot, but it sure sounds like he’ll receive an offer that he can’t refuse, so to speak, to do it again. Cristin Milioti did, however, appear to be having the time of her life as an antagonist. Her Sofia Falcone stole more than a few episodes, and although comic-book series have been more miss-than-hit over the past few years, this selection brought back appeal for Gotham around the same time that Joker 2 attempted to put a fork in it for good.

5. Woman Of The HourNetflix film

It’s tough for Anna Kendrick to look authentically “1970s,” but that’s the only minus of this entire film, which she directs like the pro that she is. Likewise, Daniel Zovatto damn well does his part by owning every moment on the screen as serial killer Rodney Alcala. This film already ranks high (with some admitted recency bias) on our list of top true-crime TV shows and movies, and a breakthrough performance comes from Autumn Best as a drifter whose story leads to both frightfulness and resolution. No matter how you feel going into this movie, you’ll leave while knowing exactly why women cannot afford to not be cautious while simply living their lives.

4. LionessParamount+ series

One of several Taylor Sheridan stories/sequel seasons is on the way back to screens in what happens to be one of many current Nicole Kidman streaming shows (and she ain’t done yet). Zoe Saldana, however, is most front and center in this series about a secret CIA program that is inspired by upon the real-life Marine Corps all-women Lioness program, and Saldana’s Joe, who is tasked with infiltrating terror cells and helping to dismantle them at the source. This season, the CIA moves to “infiltrate a previously unknown threat,” according to Paramount, but Joe is now faced with regret for “the profound personal sacrifices she has made as the leader of the Lioness program.”

3. The Lincoln LawyerNetflix series

Oh Mickey Haller, you’ve really found yourself in a jam this time. The good news is that Manuel Garcia-Rulfo has now officially eclipsed Matthew McConaughey’s turn on the infamous backseat attorney from Michael Connelly’s book series of the same name. The bad news is that the audience will have to wait for a resolution on that cliffhanger ending. However, the sixth The Lincoln Lawyer book will fill in some blanks if you cannot wait to find out what’s next, but Netflix has plenty more bingeworthy shows where this came from to keep you otherwise happy while clicking.

2. The SubstanceMubi movie

Eek. Come for Demi Moore’s righteous turn against female beauty standards and Margaret Qualley’s equally adventurous moves and stay for the downright grotesque body horror that follows. Also, it’s true (as Demi asserted) that the flat-out most nauseating part of the movie is Dennis Quaid eating prawns. For that and countless other scenes in the movie, Coralie Fargeat has fully established herself as a must-watch director after Revenge put her on the map. And as for Demi, she earned this role with everything that she’s endured in the business, including what she admitted to doing in previous eras of her career.

1. The DiplomatNetflix series

Netflix already answered a question on viewers minds by confirming that the infuriating Hal Wyler (Rufus Sewell) is still alive. That complicates matters even more for Kate (Keri Russell), and they will display a united front against the onscreen debut of Allison Janey as Vice President Grace Penn while Kate will wrestle with how to prove that Prime Minister Nicol Trowbridge (Rory Kinnear) was behind the season finale catastrophe. As a heads up, only six episodes exist in this season, but they are all bangers.

DeMar DeRozan Had A Perfect Response To Drake Saying He’d Pull Down DeRozan’s Banner If They Retired It

derozan-drake-top
Getty Image

It was a night for celebration in Toronto, as the Raptors retired the iconic number 15 worn by Vince Carter. And to put a cherry on top of what was a joyous evening in the 6, the Raptors were able to pick up a thrilling, 131-128 win over the Sacramento Kings in overtime, thanks to a 31-point outing by RJ Barrett.

Playing the Kings meant that another Toronto legend, DeMar DeRozan, was back in town. Drake, unsurprisingly, was also there, which set up a pretty funny back-and-forth. While sitting in the broadcast booth, Drake expressed that he does not want DeRozan to get a banner, saying “If you ever put a DeRozan banner up, I’ll go up there and pull it down myself.”

Now, it’s unclear if this is serious or a joke, but it’s worth remembering that DeRozan was in the music video for Kendrick Lamar’s “Not Like Us” and appeared on stage at The Pop Out while Lamar performed the song at the height of his feud with Drake earlier this year. And after the game, DeRozan got asked about Drake’s comments and had a simple response before getting up and walking away.

“He gonna have a long way to climb to take it down,” DeRozan said. “So, tell him good luck.”

It’s worth mentioning that when DeRozan was asked about the Drake-Kendrick feud, he said that “Drake’s still my man, still my man, none of it changed.” We’ll be sure to let you know if all of this tonight was in good fun or if things have changed between these two.

Joel Embiid Shoved A Reporter Who Wrote A Column Referencing His Son And Late Brother

joel embiid

The Philadelphia 76ers fell to 1-4 on the regular season on Saturday night, as the team picked up a 124-107 loss to the Memphis Grizzlies. As has been the case every time they’ve taken the floor this year, the Sixers were without the services of Joel Embiid, who is ramping up following an issue the team discovered in his left knee.

But despite not taking the floor, Embiid was involved in an incident after the game. According to Keith Pompey of the Philadelphia Inquirer, Embiid “assaulted a reporter in the locker room.” There wasn’t a ton of information in the aftermath, but eventually, Shams Charania of ESPN reported that Embiid got into it with the person who wrote “a recent column that referenced his late brother,” which featured a shove but no punch.

Earlier this week, Embiid spoke with the media in Philly and got uncharacteristically fired up, saying “When I see people saying he doesn’t want to play. I’ve done way too much for this city, putting myself at risk for people to be saying that. So, I do think it’s bullsh*t.” In particular, he called out “that dude, he’s not here, Marcus, whatever his name is,” a reference to Pompey’s colleague, Marcus Hayes.

Presumably, the reporter Embiid got into it with is Hayes, who wrote a column in October titled “Joel Embiid disrespects the Sixers, the game, its greats, and himself. Shaquille O’Neal and Charles Barkley are right to rip him.” While the piece has since been edited to remove the references to Embiid’s son and late brother, you can read what it originally said here.

UPDATE: Kyle Neubeck of PHLY Sports spoke about the altercation on the PHLY Sixers Postgame Show and explained how the altercation came about, with Embiid telling Hayes not to mention his family, before the two went back and forth for nearly two minutes with Embiid eventually shoving Hayes. Per Neubeck, Sixers security staff and players stepped in quickly.
