‘Power Book III: Raising Kanan’: There Is No Judge ‘Where All Are Guilty’ In Season 3, Episode 7

'Power Book III: Raising Kanan' 307 Raq
STARZ

(WARNING: Spoilers for the most recent Power Book III: Raising Kanan episode will be found below.)

This week’s episode of Power Book III: Raising Kanan, though not drama-filled, is fairly tense. Episode seven in season three, titled “Where All Are Guilty,” picks up at Kanan and Ronnie’s new partnership. One of their first acts together is to rough up Paul, who threatened to call the police on Kanan in retaliation for Kanan taking Paul’s drivers. This is the start of Kanan’s more sinister ways. Throughout episode 7, we see him threaten Famous, go toe-to-toe with Jukebox, disrespect Iesha during a date, and pay a visit to Krystal — something that will prove to bring on more issues. Kanan is getting worse by the episode, but the worst has yet to come.

“Where All Are Guilty” also shows the aftermath of Lou’s visit to Scrappy’s mother. It turns out that Lou’s visit was unintentional as he was too drunk to realize what he was doing when he visited her home. That didn’t matter as Scrappy’s mother went to the police, spoke to Detective Howard, and told him everything Lou said. Luckily for the Thomas family, Howard told Raq about Scrappy’s mother’s visit and she instructed Marvin to have Lou take care of it. That resulted in Lou killing Scrappy’s mother to close the episode.

Elsewhere, Jukebox’s music career continues as her girl group Butta holds a cover shoot and prepares for a performance in the mall. Tensions in the group are still high as Krystal and Jukebox still can’t get along and it only worsens when Jukebox sees Kanan and Krystal flirting with each other. Jukebox warns Krystal to stay away from him, but as we see, she doesn’t listen to Jukebox’s warning. We also see Famous move back home with his mom and Raq makes her first move back into the game by setting up an operation with Unique’s old distributor.

Here are some of the major points and questions we had after the seventh episode of season three:

Kanan Is A Firestarter

'Power Book III: Raising Kanan' 307 Kanan Krystal
STARZ

Kanan is burning every bridge in his life. For reasons caused by his mother and worsened by both him and her, Raq and Kanan’s relationship is the worst it’s ever been. Kanan and Famous are also on bad terms, so much so that Famous moved out of his own apartment for his safety after he was threatened by both Kanan and Ronnie. Kanan’s relationship with Jukebox soured after he decided to work with Ronnie, Snaps, and Pop, and it worsened after Kanan’s first date with Iesha ended on a bad note. (Just wait until she finds out that Kanan quickly moved on to Krystal). Lastly, Kanan had Paul roughed up by Ronnie and his associates as retaliation for Paul threatening to go to the police. Put all these things together and it’s clear that Kanan is a firestarter who has little remorse for the people and things he’s burned, so long as he gets what he wants when he wants it. There’s no telling the lengths Kanan will go to and the damage he’ll cause but it’s just a matter of time until he’s burned back.

Jukenox’s Music Dreams Can’t Catch A Break

'Power Book III: Raising Kanan' 307 Jukebox
STARZ

I would love it if everyone just let Jukebox live out her burgeoning music dreams without fights or chaotic interruptions. First, we had her dad interrupting an audition to tell Butta’s group manager that she needed to make Jukebox the group leader. There’s Kanan’s simultaneous mistreatment of Iesha and flirting with Krystal. Finally, we have Krystal and Jukebox’s issues as the two just can’t get along. Altogether, Juke’s music career pursuit is proving to be more drama-filled than it needs to be. Pair that with rehearsals and it amounts to an extremely stressful situation that could affect the success of the group, especially in their early stages. Butta seems like a talented collective, and they can achieve everything they want to if the group members just focus on the music and keep the other noise out.

Good Ol’ Raq Is Back And Seemingly Better Than Ever

'Power Book III: Raising Kanan' 307 Raq
STARZ

Episode six concludes with the realization from Raq that she is meant to be in the streets. Life as a law-abiding citizen is a waste of her talents in her opinion, so with that, she takes the steps to get back in the game. She connects with Unique’s former distributor so that she can sell out of a Chinese restaurant like Unique planned to. The only difference is that Raq wants to take the operation to all the restaurants that are under the ownership of the Chinese restaurant owner. She finds out that the owner has 20 restaurants, and just like that, Raq has all she needs to get back into the game in full swing. There’s something about Raq’s return that signals something different than ever. As if her next moves in the games will be better than ever, and if that’s the case, the future is truly bright for Raq and her endeavors.

Can Marvin Save Gerald And Lou-Lou?

'Power Book III: Raising Kanan' 307 Marvin Gerald
STARZ

In addition to supporting Jukebox and her music career as well as Raq’s endeavors, Marvin is also working to get Lou and and Gerald, two important people in his life, back on the right track. Gerald is battling a drug addiction and it’s sent him off the deep end a couple of times in season three. The first was earlier this season when Marvin saved Gerald from a deadly overdose by seemingly taking him to a hospital. The second was this week when Marvin confronted Gerald about leaving his daughters in his car for over an hour so that he could shoot up drugs in his home. Luckily for him and the girls, Marvin found the girls in the car, took them inside, confronted Gerald, and told him to get his sh*t together.

At the same time, Marvin is also trying to get Lou to stop his frequent drinking as it’s landing them both in a heap of trouble. In episode six, Lou makes a drunken apology to Scrappy’s mother for killing her son, but, as revealed in this week’s episode, he has no recollection of it. He only realizes what he did when Marvin tells him that Scrappy’s mother came into the precinct to tell detectives about Lou’s visit. Thankfully for them, Detctive Howard met with Scrappy’s mother and then told Raq who directed Marvin to clean up the mess. As a consequence of his actions, Lou had to kill Scrappy’s mother, but before he did, Marvin let him know that his drinking was what caused a lot of his recent problems. Lou and Gerald both need to clean up their act and save themselves from any future trouble. Marvin can be a big help, and he’s committed to being that, but it will only work if Lou and Gerald want to help themselves.

New episodes of ‘Power Book III: Raising Kanan’ are available on the STARZ app on Fridays at 12:00 am ET/PT and on the STARZ TV channel at 8:00 pm ET/PT.

Kanye West Was Spotted Wearing A T-Shirt Of An Alleged Neo-Nazi Musician, Months After His Antisemitism Apology

During a recent interview, Kid Cudi raved about the feud-ending apology he received from Kanye West. However, it seems that not all of Ye’s apologies are made equal.

In 2022, the “Through The Wire” rapper found himself in a storm of controversy following a string of insensitive remarks made toward the Jewish community. The comments continued during West’s sit-down with former Fox News anchor Tucker Carlson. The public backlash grew increasingly difficult to manage when West doubled down on his stance. However, in December 2023, West seemingly had time to reflect on his statement and decided to issue an apology. But it appears West has had a change of heart.

While hanging out with fellow musician Jpegmafia, West was photographed wearing a t-shirt of alleged neo-nazi heavy metal musician Kristian Varg Vikernes. As the pair posed for the flick, captioned: “Can’t talk right now. Doing hot girl sh*t,” users flooded Jpegmafia’s comment section to call out his rumored collaborator’s wardrobe choice.

West isn’t the only rapper to face a heap of blowback due to their clothing. Last year, fans called out Doja Cat for wearing merchandise of alleged ne0-Nazi Sam Hyde. Shortly after, Doja Cat released a public apology, though many believe the statement was insincere.

As of January 21, West has not addressed the matter.

Christopher Reeve’s Kids Don’t Seem Interested In Watching That CGI Cameo Of Their Dad As Superman In ‘The Flash’

superman christopher reeve
Warner Bros.

Was the grand finale of the Flash movie a good idea? Was the Flash movie, with its chaotic star and a dying cinematic universe, itself a good idea? Let’s answer the first question first. The film, whose breathless build-up resulted in a thud of an opening weekend, builds to a time warpy, multiversey conclusion, in which past screen incarnations of DC superheroes are all smushed together thanks to the magic of CGI and IP dynamism. Alas, not everyone was a fan. Nicolas Cage, whose aborted take on Superman found itself resurrected, wasn’t so hot on the final results. Others expressed mere, powerful indifference.

Per Variety, the children of the late Christopher Reeve — Will, Matthew and Alexandra — were at Sundance this weekend showing off the new documentary about their father, Super/Man: The Christopher Reeve Story. Reeve, of course, was most famous for playing the Man of Steel in four movies, including the 1978 original, which kickstarted the idea that movies should take comic book fare seriously.

The three were perhaps inevitably asked what they thought about their father being digitally inserted into one of last year’s biggest bombs. Rather than slam or praise it, they had another, unexpected response: They hadn’t even seen the film. What’s more, they had no involvement in the cameo.

In fact, they pushed back at the idea that their father, an accomplished, Juilliard-trained thespian, should only or even mostly be remembered for playing Supes:

“In our hometown in Bedford, New York…the local movie theater went through a rebrand a few years ago,” Will said. “The person in charge of that shift reached out to me and said they’d love to have me screen a film of my choice of my dad’s. I responded, ‘Sure, but not Superman. We’re going to do “Remains of the Day.”‘ He was so proud of his role in that movie. It’s not a big role. It’s an important role in the film. He got to show a completely different side of himself. I knew how proud he was of that. Not that he wasn’t proud of Superman…but if he were here he wouldn’t choose Superman, he’d choose ‘Remains of the Day.’ I don’t think about the Superman films as much as I do about the swings he got took beyond this larger-than-life role.”

You can stream The Flash on Max, and the same goes for Reeve’s Superman films.

Bruce Brown, Who Is Not On The Knicks, Calls Himself ‘The Type Of Player’ Tom Thibodeau Likes

bruce brown

Bruce Brown joined the Indiana Pacers last offseason, although the team’s recent big trade led to him getting a change in scenery. Brown was part of the package that Indiana sent to the Toronto Raptors in exchange for Pascal Siakam, and despite playing in two games, there are questions about whether the veteran wing will stick around or get moved again as the Raptors look to build their roster around Scottie Barnes.

While his future is up in the air, it’s not hard to see why a team with aspirations of going on a playoff run would be interested in Brown, who has a team option for $23 million next season and is one of the better complimentary players in the league. Coincidentally, Brown played against one team that could really use his skill set on Saturday night when the Raptors played against the New York Knicks, and before the game, he gave some quotes to Jared Schwartz of the New York Post that sure made it sound like he’d enjoy suiting up for Tom Thibodeau.

“I am a dog,” Brown told The Post on Saturday night prior to the Raptors’ 126-100 loss to the Knicks at Madison Square Garden. “I play extremely hard on both ends of the floor. I can do just about whatever [Thibodeau] needs me to do.”

“I play extremely hard,” Brown said. “I would think [I’m] the type of player that he likes.”

Kudos to Brown for being honest, but it goes without saying, it’s not every day you see a player express this sort of fondness for how he’d fit in another coach’s system. It’s also not difficult to see how New York could make a move happen here, as the team is flush with future NBA Draft picks and has Evan Fournier’s contract to make the salaries work, should Toronto be interested in that sort of deal.

The Knicks and the Raptors have already worked out one trade this year, as New York sent Immanuel Quickley, R.J. Barrett, and draft capital to Toronto for OG Anunoby, Precious Achiuwa, and Malachi Flynn.

Taylor Swift’s Alleged Stalker Was Reportedly Arrested While Attempting To Enter The Singer’s New York City Residence

Even by her standards, Taylor Swift had a great 2023, ending with her fame and financial status becoming even bigger. But as the age-old saying goes, more money equals more problems. For celebrities like Swift (and recently Miley Cyrus), they can also attract obsessive strangers.

According to Page Six, on January 20, a man was arrested while attempting to enter Swift’s New York City apartment. In a statement provided to the outlet, a spokesperson for the New York Police Department revealed that they became aware of the individual after receiving concerned calls about a “disorderly person” lurking around the building’s entryway.

“Upon arrival, [police] were informed that the individual attempted to open a door to a building at the location,” said the source.

Residents alleged that this wasn’t the first time the unnamed man had tried to force his way into the building. One local reportedly said the man had been spotted in the neighborhood for weeks. Another speculated that he was “lurking here for a month.”

Folks became suspicious when the alleged stalker was spotted “sleeping on the stoop, chain-smoking constantly, and shouting.”

Swift has not publicly commented on the matter. However, Page Six reports that she was likely home as her security detail was seen in the area moments before the man’s arrest.

Reese Witherspoon Grossed Out A Bunch Of People By Eating Snow, But She Doesn’t Care: ‘You Only Live Once’

Reese Witherspoon
Getty Image

So far 2024 has been a pretty cold and snowy one, with large chunks of the country experiencing deep winter weather. But you know what they say about life giving you lemons: you make lemonade. Something similar, apparently, goes for snow — at least if you’re Reese Witherspoon, who had to push back against detractors after she shared a possibly dodgy recipe that involves eating the preciptiation.

Per HuffPost, on Friday the Oscar-winning actress took to TikTok to share a recipe for what she called “snow salt chococcino.” What on earth is that? It involves scooping up a big heaping pile of snow into mugs, flavoring it with chocolate syrup, caramel sauce, and cold-brew coffee. Witherspoon dubbed the concoction “so good.”

Others, however, were alarmed. People in the comments pointed out that maybe it’s not healthy to eat raw precipitation. She and her family could catch some disease, couldn’t they? Witherspoon, who’s had to fend off criticism of her lifestyle choices before, remained adamant that “snow salt chococcino” was perfectly fine.

“We microwaved it and it’s clear,” she said in another video, appearing a bit taken aback by the criticism. “Is this bad? Am I not supposed to eat snow?”

In yet another video, she was even more defensive, saying, “We’re kind of in the category of, like, you only live once, and it snows maybe once a year here.”

So is it safe to eat snow? NPR did an investigation into the matter back in 2022, and the answer was yeah, sort of. Staci Simonich, a professor of environmental and toxic ecology at Oregon State University, said she “would not hesitate” to let her kids chow down on snow. She said that, while snow can accumulate contaminants, like pesticide, those “concentrations are low and the amount of snow eaten in a handful is small, so the one-time dose is very low and not a risk to health.”

In another look into the issue — there are more reports on the safety of eating snow than you’d perhaps assume — pediatrician Dr. Laura Martin said “probably not all snow” is safe, advising sticking with the “whitest, fluffiest top layer of fallen snow, furthest away from the ground.”

For the record, Witherspoon seems to have mostly scooped up that fluffy stuff at the top, not the probably more contaminated stuff towards the surface. Besides, surely many grew up eating snow on snow days, and everyone turned out fine, right? Right??

‘SNL’ Weekend Update Isn’t So Into A Repeat Of 2020, Calling A ‘Biden Vs. Trump’ Repeat ‘Elder Abuse’

As Special Agent Dale Cooper said in the bone-chilling conclusion of Twin Peaks: The Return: What year is this? That’s what Colin Jost wants to know. On SNL‘s first Weekend Update of the new year, the co-anchor opened by pointing out that it’s 2020 all over again, and in the worst possible way.

“Well, guys, it’s 2024. But is it?” Jost told the crowd, prompting a picture of Joe Biden and Donald Trump, who are once again likely this year’s two major presidential candidates. “I don’t know about you, but when I think of the year 2020, I never think: ‘We should run that one back.’ And if you’re feeling confused, you’re not the only one.”

Jost then pointed out that on Thursday, Biden admitted he got “mixed up” after he claimed he’d taken a photo with a woman who wasn’t even present. The following day, even more mushy-brained rival Donald Trump kept saying Nikki Haley’s name when he meant to trash Nancy Pelosi (for something she didn’t do, incidentally).

“Guys, I don’t know if we should do this election,” Jost confessed. “It’s honestly starting to feel like elder abuse. And I don’t even blame them—I blame us for allowing it.

“It reminds me of those bum fight videos, where they made two homeless guys fight for money,” he added. “And now we look back on it and we’re like, ‘How did we, as a society, let that happen?’ So I think the best solution is to just tell Trump and Biden that they both won. And that we’re very proud of them. And that they can rest now.”

Elsewhere during the segment, Jost brought up Trump begging his supporters to risk their lives to vote for him. He joked, “Voting for Trump and then passing away is also what happened with COVID,” he said, reminding viewers of the disproportionate number of Trump supporters who died because they refused to get vaxxed, prompting some truly galaxy brained far right spins.

A ‘More Cognitive Than Ever’ Trump Begs His Old Supporters To ‘Stay Alive Till November’ In The ‘SNL’ Cold Open

Can you believe Republican voters are still in thrall to someone who doesn’t know how magnets work? Strange but true. Donald Trump, who this time last year was still in the doghouse for doing things like dining with anti-Semites, is back on top in GOP polling. He’s even doing this while juggling multiple court cases, including one for defamation over sexual assault. This surreal situation proved fodder for SNL’s first Cold Open of 2024.

The sketch found James Austin Johnson’s acclaimed take on the 45th president where he is when he’s not holding rallies: standing in courthouse lobbies, ranting to reporters. He began by insulting his permanently revolving door legal iunit.

“Look at this team,” he said, motioning to a row of generic middle aged lawyers. “This is the bottom of the barrel, folks. This is ‘Who said yes.’ I’m in the lead for president and this is the best I can get. Feels like a red flag, no?”

He then turned to his team, telling them, “You’re not getting paid, by the way. You know that? Of course you do.”

Trump also addressed the elephant in the room: that his brain appears to have finally turned to mush. He’s been mixing up names, mixing up World Wars, calling corn “non-liquid gold.” But he tried to put that issue to bed.

“As you can see, I’m doing very well cognitively,” he claimed. “I’m doing great with cognitive. I think I’m doing great with cognitive. I’m more cognitive than ever. The doctor said, ‘Sir, you have to be in the top 99% of all the concussion and dementia people we give this test to.’”

Trump also praised his campaign. “We’ve seen a lot of success with saying things that did not happen,” he said, of his longtime habit of straight-up lying. “I think we’ll continue to do that. It’s an innovation I’m particularly proud of, seems to be working very well.”

And he addressed his die-hard supporters, some of whom he’s told to risk their lives to vote for him:

“I love this country, and its traditions. That’s why I’m not doing any debates and barely doing election. I don’t need to, my people love me. I’ve got the old people, they’re waiting in snow for two hours to vote for Trump. ‘Oh darling, I’m dying, I’ve got to do one last thing. I gotta vote for Trump.’ We just need them to stay alive till November. Stay alive till November. Just pull that lever and drop dead. Why? Because I’m sent by God and God has a plan for me or whatever, I dunno.”

He ended on a cautiously optimistic note, saying, “2024 is going to be a very exciting year. I’m either going to jail, be president or, frankly, the purge. Perhaps all three, let’s spin the chamber!”

‘The Terminal List’ Season 2: Everything To Know About Chris Pratt’s Return Including The Release Date, Cast, Trailer, & More Info

Terminal List
Amazon

In 2022, Chris Pratt returned to television in a much less comedic capacity than the Parks and Recreation role that made him a household name. For the same audience that loves Alan Ritchson’s Reacher and John Krasinski’s Jack Ryan, Pratt sprang into action in Amazon‘s The Terminal List. This adaptation of former Navy SEAL Jack Carr’s conspiracy-laden novel tells the story of Navy SEAL James Reece seeking vengeance (and compiling a death list, hence the name of the series) following unfathomable tragedy.

Plot

The first season of The Terminal List thrilled action junkies with intricate action sets and choreography. Heck, Pratt even fought in his underwear at one point while telling Variety that when his character fights, “I want it to be dirty. So I’m gonna punch him in the balls… It’s raw, visceral and vulnerable.”

That’s certainly an effective way to hook an audience that needs a fix in between Reacher bingewatching sessions. On a more serious note, audiences (and particularly Amazon’s viewers lately) cannot get enough of no-nonsense, military officers (ex or current) putting their enemies where they belong, and there is now a The Terminal List prequel series in the works (starring Taylor Kitsch as Ben Edwards), too.

We are here today to discuss the second season, however, and where Pratt’s lieutenant commander/combat leader will go after he achieved vengeance for the deaths of his teammates and family. The series will now move into source material that can be found in Carr’s True Believer novel (also of The Terminal List series, obviously). On Instagram, Pratt promised that hardcore fans can expect “more military authenticity and heart-pounding action. You spoke. We listened.”

True Believer picks up with Reece, listed as a domestic terrorist by the U.S. government, hiding out in the South African nature of Mozambique. His location eventually becomes known by the CIA, which dangles immunity and a presidential pardon in his face, and since Reece wants immunity for those who aided him, yep, he reluctantly climbs onboard. He’s ostensibly on the prowl for an Iraqi ex-commando coordinating terrorist attacks on the West when Reece discovers that even more geopolitical conspiracy is afoot, and you can bet that the bodies will start to hit the floor again.

On Carr’s website, Pratt further celebrated the news:

“I’m excited to announce that the second season of The Terminal List is on its way, and I couldn’t be more thrilled to reprise my role as James Reece. This season promises to be even more intense and action-packed than the first, and I can’t wait for everyone to see it. And for those who are fans of Taylor Kitsch’s Ben Edwards, I’m happy to say that we’re also working on a spinoff series that will delve deeper into his story and follow his journey from a Navy SEAL to a CIA operative. And to make it even more exciting, I will also be appearing in this prequel series! I promise you it will be just as thrilling and engaging as The Terminal List. Stay tuned for more updates and we can’t wait for you all to join us on this journey.”

Cast

Chris Pratt reprises his role as James Reece, and Taylor Kitsch returns as as CIA operative Ben Edwards, a former SEAL and old Reece buddy. Potentially, we will see Constance Wu’s reporter, Katie Buranek, again. We will definitely not be seeing Jai Courtney or Patrick Schwarzenegger’s characters for obvious reasons. The latter appears to have developed a knack at dying early in popular streaming shows, but hey, that kind-of frees him up for the next gig.

Expect a fresh new cast of characters that are available to meet violent deaths. That’s how this series goes!

Release Date

Production is set to begin soon, so stay tuned on a release date. Early 2025 seems like a realistic target.

Trailer

Given that the season has been newly announced, no hope for a trailer exists yet. However, there’s no time like the present to rewatch Pratt taking out Jai Courtney’s baddie while proving that, beyond a doubt, Andy Dwyer is but a distant memory.

What’s Popular On Streaming Now

Society Of The Snow
Netflix

Every single week, our TV and film experts will list the most important ten streaming selections for you to pop into your queues. We’re not strictly operating upon reviews or accrued streaming clicks (although yes, we’ve scoured the streaming site charts) but, instead, upon those selections that are really worth noticing amid the churning sea of content. There’s a lot out there, after all, and your time is valuable.

TIE: 10. The Boys in the Boat (Amazon MGM Studios film streaming on VOD and Amazon)

George Clooney, conga-line hand shaker extraordinaire, hopped back into the director’s seat to adapt the 2013 novel about the real-life U.S. rowing team that went to the 1936 Olympics in Germany ahead of World War II. Callum Turner stars as a student who didn’t plan on Olympic glory when he simply signed up for his school’s rowing team, but he rolled with it. You can also see Turner soon in Masters of the Air, so this is a good appetizer as well as a worthwhile watch on its own merits.

TIE: 10. The Holdovers (Focus Features film streaming on Peacock)

Paul Giamatti Oscar nomination coming? This is entirely possible, considering that he won a Globe for his role as a boozed-up teacher who isn’t thrilled to be stuck on campus over the holidays. The Billions star is having a pretty fine year already, so let’s hope that trend continues. Also, get ready for those many Billions spinoffs that will eventually come to Showtime.

9. Fargo (FX series streaming on Hulu)

Our own Brian Grubb power ranked the season finale, and finally, pancakes and biscuits (along with Ole Munch) are receiving the recognition that they deserve: “I do not think I have ever seen a television show that featured this much graphic violence and gory open wounds that also made me hungry for baked goods almost every week.” Yes, and John Sasquatch somehow fared better than Jon Hamm’s nipple rings. We love TV.

8. Killers Of The Flower Moon (Apple TV+ movie)

Martin Scorsese’s adaptation of David Grann’s nonfiction narrative saga takes a different route to than the books to shine a same-themed light on a devastating chapter in U.S. history. Many incredible indigenous actors (including Yancey Red Corn, Everett Waller, and Cara Jade Myers) hold their own alongside powerhouses including Leonardo DiCaprio, Robert De Niro, Jesse Plemons, and Brendan Fraser, but Lily Gladstone’s performance as Mollie Burkhart will be the most remembered of the bunch.

7. Echo (Disney+ series)

If you are looking forward to Charlie Cox’s Daredevil standalone show, then you will definitely want to tune in for his cameo opposite Alaqua Cox’s Maya Lopez. Once you are on the scene, then you will hopefully want to keep watching this origin story, which is unlike any recent Disney+ show in recent memory. Unfortunately, there’s plenty of MCU (and DCEU) burnout of late, but this show should hang on for another weekend because the entire season is available for binging.

6. The Bear (FX series streaming on Hulu)

The rise of Cousin Richie is something that few people could have seen coming, which is an overriding reason why this show only gets better with time. The third season is in the works, and hopefully, the writers can find a way to work in Ayo Edebiri’s shoutout to her Irish people in between moments of Carmy totally losing his sh*t. What do y’all think will happen with the restaurant? I’m thinking that the Chefs will aim for a Michelin star, and maybe Jamie Lee Curtis’ horrible mother character will drive attempt to drive through the front door, but Lionel Boyce’s Marcus will use his donuts to save the day.

5. Ted (Peacock series)

Everything is being revived or rebooted, so Seth MacFarlane is taking another swing with this profane teddy bear. This series acts as a prequel film to the films starring Mark Wahlberg, Mila Kunis, and Amanda Seyfried, but don’t worry, MacFarlane’s voice definitely showed up to drop all of those F-bombs because the franchise demands it.

4. True Detective (HBO series streaming on Max)

Those who miss the first-season supernatural elements and chemistry of Woody Harrelson and Matthew McConaughey will enjoy the push-pull of Jodie Foster and Kali Reis’ investigators as they battle the elements to solve an eerie mystery. Foster’s police chief has seen some sh*t, and that sh*t gets stirred back up when an unsolved bunch of homicides isn’t the freeze-and-dried case that it might have initially seemed to be. The season co-stars John Hawkes, so you know that something sinister will definitely go down, and the chilly ensemble cast includes Christopher Eccleston, Finn Bennett, and Fiona Shaw. Issa López wrote, directed, and acted as showrunner while doing justice to the original spirit brought to screen by Nic Pizzolatto before, well, you know.

3. Fool Me Once (Netflix series)

Harlan Coban readers are here for his next chess move to streaming TV supremacy, and the binging is ongoing for this adaptation of a nanny-cam that changes everything with two possibly connected murder cases. The first of which involves a woman who believes that her husband was killed, but somehow, he still lives and appears on camera, and there are many disturbing truths that will come to the forefront during the course of this twisting tale.

2. Society Of The Snow (Netflix film)

Less than two weeks after its debut on Netflix, this movie emerged on the streamer’s Most Popular Non-English list, and it will likely end up on the service’s top All-Time film list, too. This story brings the Andes Mountains crash survivors in 1972 onscreen in vivid detail, and given that both arctic blasts and air-travel chaos is in the news these days, this might feel too timely of a watch in a way. That hasn’t discouraged the binging, however, and this film continues to rack up view and critical acclaim alike.

1. Reacher (Amazon Prime series)

The second season finale streamed this week, and once again, Reacher and the Special Investigators have lived up to their motto. Star Alan Ritchson has already delivered a peek at his third-season crustiness, and now, everyone can wonder exactly which of Lee Childs’ Jack Reacher books that the show will adapt next. Seriously, nobody would be upset if they managed to write Roscoe into the show again, too. She did receive a shoutout this year, after all. Details matter!
