Angel Reese Will Miss The Remainder Of The 2024 Season With An Injury

Angel Reese, the standout rookie forward for the Chicago Sky who has started every game for the team this year, announced on Saturday evening that her first season in the WNBA is coming to an end. In a statement posted onto social media, Reese revealed that she will be shut down due to an injury.

Here’s the entirety of Reese’s statement:

What a year. I never would have imagined the last bucket of my rookie season would be a 3 but maybe that was God saying give them a taste of what they will be seeing more of in Year 2 lol🥲Through it all, I have showed that I belong in this league even when no one else believed. All I have ever wanted was to come into the W and make an impact. I can confidently say I have done that and will strive to keep doing so. I’m filled with emotions right now that I have a season ending injury, but also filled with so much gratitude for what is next. Although this is God’s timing and not mine, I am finally able to give myself a physical and mental break. “God gives his hardest battles to his strongest soldiers.”

You’ll still see me being the biggest cheerleader on the sideline! And Unrivaled league, see you soon! 💞😇

While Reese did not specify what the injury is, she was listed as questionable in the lead-up to Sunday’s game between the Sky and the Dallas Wings due to a wrist injury. The injury comes at an especially unfortunate time for Chicago, which are currently 12-22 and are holding onto the eighth and final seed in the WNBA playoffs — they have the same record as the Atlanta Dream, but hold the tiebreaker between the two teams.

Reese, No. 7 overall pick in the 2024 WNBA Draft and a former standout at LSU, has established herself as one of the W’s premier rebounders and earned an All-Star nod as a rookie. She averaged 13.6 points and 13.1 rebounds in 32.5 minutes per game for the Sky this season.

Please Enjoy Commanders Fan Kevin Durant Discussing Why He Can’t Stand The Cowboys

There’s a fun counter-action that comes from being a fan of a team, and that is really hating another team. Kevin Durant, as it turns out, is a terrific example of this, as the Phoenix Suns star and well-documented fan of the Washington Commanders absolutely cannot stand the Dallas Cowboys.

Durant sat down with Kay Adams and got asked about relegating an NFL team — recently, Durant purchased a minority stake in French soccer team Paris Saint-Germain.

“If you could get rid of one NFL team, the biggest pain in your ass, which team would you pick?” Adams asked.

“Cowboys,” Durant replied before Adams even completely finished her question. “Cowboys easily.”

Durant gave a very simple reason for this: He just does not like the Dallas Cowboys one bit, and then, he tried to get to the heart of why he hates the Cowboys so much in a pretty spectacular soundbite.

“I had to ask myself why don’t I like the Cowboys,” Durant said. “Cause I don’t hate any teams, or any players, I’m a huge fan of a lot of teams. But the Cowboys are that one team I just don’t like, and I think it’s because a lot of people where I’m from in D.C. have become Cowboys fans. It’s probably, like, 75 percent of people in Washington, D.C., in my group of people, that are Cowboys fans. And I just hate that they don’t stay loyal to the crib.”

Adams asked Durant about whether he’d let these people become Commanders fans if their recent first-round pick, LSU quarterback and reigning Heisman Trophy winner Jayden Daniels, pops off, but Durant stressed “we’re not letting them on the bus.” It is unclear if he views the Philadelphia Eagles and the New York Giants with the same amount of vitriol, but I just assume that every fan of an NFC East teams hates every other NFC East team.

Megan Thee Stallion Is Hoping To Manifest A Taylor Swift Collaboration After Pointing Out Why It Makes Perfect Sense

Megan Thee Stallion is on a quest to collect as many collaborations as possible. The “Down Stairs DJ” rapper has already joined forces with several women in hip-hop including Nicki Minaj, Cardi B, GloRilla, and Latto.

But on the pop end, her resume is predominately men like BTS and its member RM. However, Megan Thee Stallion wants to change that. In an exclusive chat with People, Megan Thee Stallion revealed that she hopes to collaborate with global pop star Taylor Swift.

“I love Taylor Swift, and I would like to collab with her one day,” she said.

Although the revelation comes on the heels of Megan Thee Stallion’s Pepsi commercial cameo, which co-stars Swift’s beau, Travis Kelce, and other NFL players, she cited another reason as to why the hopeful track makes sense.

“She’s a stallion too, she’s a tall girl,” she said. “I love that. We would be so cute next to each other.”

Swift has worked with rappers in the past including most recently Ice Spice for “Karma Remix” and Kendrick Lamar on “Bad Blood,” so it isn’t impossible.

Still, users online aren’t sold on the idea. But Megan Thee Stallion has proven to deliver on her featured track and to pull the best out of those who jump on a song with her.

Sabrina Carpenter’s Lyrics Were Sneakily Used During A MLB Broadcast, Thanks To A Hilarious Dare

Use of Snoop Dogg’s infamous catchphrase once got a news anchor fired. On the other hand, the coy incorporation of Sabrina Carpenter’s lyrics just gained one sports broadcaster some massive brownie points online.

In a video shared by announcer Dallas Braden’s wife, Meg Braden, revealed that a household dare pushed Braden to sneakily use Carpenter’s “Please Please Please” lyrics during the Seattle Mariners and Oakland Athletics game on September 5.

“Day two of daring my husband, who is a broadcaster of a baseball team to say something on air,” she said. “This one’s fun.”

The video (viewable here) quickly cuts to a clip of Darren’s commentary during the matchup.

“I tell you heartbreak is one thing,” he said. “My ego’s another.”

But Braden wasn’t alone. His announcing partner quickly caught onto Braden’s game and showed off his pop culture knowledge, saying: “So the A’s are saying please don’t embarrass me, brother.”

At the time, most listeners might not have caught onto the insider challenger. But users at home, certainly did. Now, TikTok users have flooded Meg’s comment section to suggest other artists for her husband’s next broadcast.

As Adele so graciously pointed out Sabrina Carpenter’s lyrics are undeniably addictive. So, it is only right that it makes its way into other entertainment sectors.

A Valpo Player Went Over And Through Four Players To Score A Touchdown

College football being back can only mean one thing: The insane touchdowns that seem to only happen in college football are back, baby. For whatever reason, the NFL just doesn’t have the completely ridiculous things that seem to happen on a weekly basis in this level of the sport, and on Saturday, we got a terrific example of this during an FCS game between Valparaiso and Youngstown State.

Despite the fact that the Penguins raced out to an early, 21-0 lead, Valpo got the ball and drove down the field for a touchdown early in the second quarter. After a three-and-out by YSU, the Beacons once again managed to score to make it a 1-score game, although that undersells how wild the touchdown was, as Caron Taylor punched it in from seven yards out by jumping over two opposing players, and then bulldozing his way through two more.

Want to watch this from another angle? Good news! You can do that here.

Unfortunately for Valpo, while this was sick, the result of the game might make them sick, as Youngstown State was able to settle in and take care of business en route to a 59-25 win on their home field.

Eminem’s Publishing Company Has Reportedly Lost Its $40 Million Streaming Royalties Lawsuit Against Spotify

Snoop Dogg might not be impressed with DSPs payout. But that hasn’t stopped Eminem, or rather his publishing company, from going after what he’s owed.

Back in 2019’s the “Somebody Save Me” rapper’s co-publisher, Eight Mile Style, launched a lawsuit against streaming giant. Now according to Music Business Worldwide, the five-year-long $40 million case is partially over in favor of the stream.

In the decision, Judge Aleta A. Trauger shut down Eight Mile Style’s claim that Spotify “deceptively” asserted that it had the “proper licenses” for several Eminem tracks.

“While Spotify’s handling of composer copyrights appears to have been seriously flawed, any right to recover damages based on those flaws belongs to those innocent rights holders who were genuinely harmed,” she said. “Not ones who, like Eight Mile Style, had every opportunity to set things right and simply chose not to do so for no apparent reason, other than that being the victim of infringement pays better than being an ordinary licensor.”

Instead, Trauger ruled that Kobalt Music Publishing, another royalty collection agency, was seemingly at fault, a declaration Spotify’s legal team previously made.”

However, in a statement provided to the outlet (viewable here), Kobalt Music Publishing denied the accusation. “Spotify mischaracterizes the substance both of the services Kobalt provides to Eight Mile Style and Martin Affiliated in the United States, as well as the content of Spotify’s direct US licensing agreement with Kobalt,” said the rep.

Eminem has not issued a public response to the court’s decision.

In Case You Were Wondering, Barry Keoghan Clarified How To Pronounce His Last Name

Barry Keoghan has a lot going on. Outside of keeping up with the Instagram account for Bratz, the Oscar-nominated actor is in a new movie, Bird, that just screened at the Toronto International Film Festival; he’s also reportedly dating pop sensation Sabrina Carpenter and starring in director Trey Edward Shults’ new movie and The Batman 2. But first, before he gets tWiStEd as The Joker, Keoghan has to share something important: how to pronounce his last name.

During an interview with Variety at TIFF, Keoghan was asked to “settle once and for all” how to say his last name. It’s Kee-oh-gan, not Keegan. But don’t feel too bad if you were pronouncing it wrong all this time, like Homer Simpson with Mrs. Crandall, I mean, Krabappel. “Some people get it wrong, I mean, even Irish people get it wrong,” he said. Ayo Edebiri would never!

You can watch the last name lesson here.

As for Bird, the Andrea Arnold film is described as a drama about “a distracted father (Barry Keoghan) and his lonely and imaginative 12-year-old daughter, Bailey (Nykiya Adams), who must seek attention (and adventure) elsewhere.” The film, which was acquired by Mubi, comes out in theaters on November 8.

The Nuggets And Jamal Murray Agreed To A $208 Million Max Extension

One of the biggest question marks surrounding the Denver Nuggets this offseason revolved around the future of their standout guard, Jamal Murray. Despite reports indicating that they were working towards a contract extension that would keep him around long-term, Murray never put pen-to-paper on a new deal as the regular season approached and looked primed to start the year on an expiring contract — a particularly curious move considering his struggles at the Olympics and his lingering injury issues.

Ultimately, the two sides were able to get an extension all sorted out, according to Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN and Shams Charania of The Athletic. The reports indicate that Murray signed a 4-year extension that will pay him $208 million, and considering his current deal, Murray is now set to be a member of the Nuggets over the next five seasons and will make $244 million.

Considered one of the best players in the NBA to never make an All-Star or All-NBA team, Murray has established himself as the perfect backcourt partner for Nikole Jokic and a bona fide crunchtime performer in the postseason. Murray averaged 21.2 points and 6.5 assists last season on 48.1 percent shooting from the field and 42.5 percent shooting from three, but he only appeared in 59 games.

Emily Armstrong, Linkin Park’s New Lead Singer, Penned A Note To ‘Clear The Air’ Over Her Past Support Of Danny Masterson

After seven years, Linkin Park is ready for a new start. The band has found a lead singer that would make the late former frontman Chester Bennington. Just like the group’s fresh beginning, Emily Armstrong wants to ensure her past actions don’t ruin her stint as the band’s new lead singer.

Yesterday (September 7), Armstrong took to her official Instagram page to address her past support of Danny Masterson when he was accused of rape. In a lengthy Instagram Stories upload (captured by Deadline), walked back her initial comments now that That ’70s Show actor has been convicted and sentenced.

Read Emily Armstrong’s full statement below.

Hi, I’m Emily. I’m new to so many of you, and I wanted to clear the air about something that happened a while back.

Several years ago, I was asked to support someone I considered a friend at a court appearance, and went to one early hearing as an observer. Soon after, I realized I shouldn’t have. I always try to see the good in people and I misjudged him. I have never spoken with him since. Unimaginable details emerged and he was later found guilty.

To say it as clearly as possible: I do not condone abuse or violence against women, and I empathize with the victims of these crimes.

Emily Armstrong wasn’t the only entertainer that backed Danny Masterson. Masterson’s former co-stars Ashton Kutcher and Mila Kunis also showed their support by way of supposed court letters during his sentencing. Each receive intense pushback from the public.
