CM Punk Cost Drew McIntyre The World Heavyweight Title At WWE Clash At The Castle

CM Punk
WWE

CM Punk cost Drew McIntyre the WWE World Heavyweight Championship as Damian Priest retained at WWE Clash at the Castle from Glasgow, Scotland.

McIntyre fed off the crowd throughout the match. Priest eventually gained the advantage, looking for a dive to the outside, but got his right leg caught in the ropes as he flipped. Priest favored his ankle throughout the match but was able to hit a Razor’s Edge for two.

McIntyre sent Priest down and set up for the Claymore, but Priest rolled out of the ring. McIntyre kicked Priest through the barricade and dragged him back into the ring. He set up for another Claymore when Priest reversed into the South of Heaven chokeslam for two. Priest hit a hurricarana off the top rope, but McIntyre jumped back to his feet and hit a Claymore out of nowhere for two.

The referee was knocked out before McIntyre hit another Claymore. CM Punk ran down in a referee shirt and counted two before hitting a low blow and setting Priest up for the South of Heaven chokeslam for the win.

Priest won the World Heavyweight championship at WrestleMania, cashing in his Money in the Bank briefcase five minutes after McIntyre had claimed the belt from Seth Rollins. On that night, it was CM Punk, who pulled a showboating McIntyre off the announce table in celebration and provided the opening for Priest’s win.

Priest will now move on to face Gunther at SummerSlam, while it seems like we’re set up for a clash between Punk and McIntyre.

‘Power Book II: Ghost’ Recap: ‘To Thine Own Self’ Be True In Season 4, Episode 2

'Power Book II: Ghost' season 4, episode 2 recap image
STARZ/Merle Cooper

(WARNING: Spoilers for this week’s Power Book II: Ghost episode will be found in the recap below.)

The first half of the final season of Power Book II: Ghost continues with Tariq and Brayden adjusting to a law-abiding life off the street after their deal with Noma in the season opening episode “I Don’t Die Easy.” Their struggles are hard to endure for the duo, as they’re forced to work normal jobs in the second episode of the season “To Thine Own Self” and make much less money than they used to. Eventually, enough is enough and the two agreed to begin work on a plan that would get them back onto the streets, increase their cash flow, and stay under the radar enough to avoid the ruthless eye of Noma.

“To Thine Own Self” also delivers big news about Diana, who must keep it under wraps and figure out her next move while also playing her role as one of Noma’s workers, something Effie reminds of her in the episode. Speaking of Effie, she made a big move this week in securing work, with help from Cane, from a Russian group for Noma. Elsewhere, Monet continues her search for her shooter as she recovers from her injuries and Detective Don Carter turns up the heat in his investigation into FBI Agent Angel Valdes’ murder and Carter is quite sure that Tariq is behind it.

Let’s dive into a recap of the second episode in Ghost season four with a few takeaways we have after watching “To Thine Own Self.”

For Tariq & Brayden, There’s No Turning Back

STARZ

‘Power Book II: Ghost’ 402 w/ Michael Rainey Jr. as Tariq St. Patrick and Gianni Paolo as Brayden Weston

Tariq and Brayden had plenty of opportunities to step out of the drug game and enjoy a comfortable life far removed from killers, robbers, and the many other criminals of the world. That chance flew out of the window as soon as Tariq’s trust fund money went down the train thanks to an investment in Brayden’s family business Weston Holdings which was later discovered as a Ponzi scheme, thus shutting the Weston family business down. Tariq and Brayden had their safety nets snatched away making their life in the streets a requirement and not a second hustle. With them being so accustomed to that life, it’s no surprise that their attempt to live on the straight and narrow lasted no longer than an episode of SpongeBob Squarepants. For the money and lifestyle they want, Tariq and Brayden have to increase their cash flow by figuring out how to work around Noma’s request for them to never sell drugs again. One thing’s for sure, there’s no going back to a law-abiding life.

Life Just Got More Complicated For Diana (And Who’s The Father??)

'Power Book II: Ghost' 402 w/ LaToya Tonodeo as Diana Tejada
STARZ

‘Power Book II: Ghost’ 402 w/ LaToya Tonodeo as Diana Tejada

In “To Thine Own Self,” Diana Tejada’s scariest fear became her reality: She is pregnant. We’ve yet to find out who the father is — Tariq and Salim seem to be our options here — but this news couldn’t come at a more worse time for Diana. She is still scrambling to hide her and Dru’s involvement in their attempted murder of Monet. She, along with Dru, Cane, and Effie are now working under Noma leaving Diana to somehow figure out how to balance the heavy responsibilities of being both a drug dealer and a college student under immense pressure to live up to their respective expectations. Diana was supposed to stay out of the streets, but when push came to shove with her family, she found herself right beside them in it. Now, with the confirmation of her pregnancy, things just got a more lot complicated for Diana

Detective Carter Makes Us Miss Cooper Saxe (RIP)

'Power Book II: Ghost' 402 w/ Michael Ealy as Detective Carter
STARZ

‘Power Book II: Ghost’ 402 w/ Michael Ealy as Detective Carter

It was just a year ago that Cooper Saxe was wreaking havoc amongst the lives of Tariq St. Patrick and associates prior to his shocking death in Ghost season three. The longtime role of the nuisance to the show’s main characters is now being filled by Michael Ealy who plays Detective Don Carter. Detective Carter is a rising NYPD officer who was on track to become Police Commissioner until his wife was killed in a crossfire between rival drug gangs. Now he’s hit the New York streets with a vengeance, and following the death of FBI Agent Angel Valdes, Carter has made it his mission to solve his murder which brings him right to Tariq’s doorstep — or college campus. Carter also visits Davis McClean and Noma’s right hand man Obi as his investigation into Tariq unfolds. During his visit to Tariq’s campus, Carter looks Tariq in the eye, slanders his father, and promises that he will take him down for the murder of Agent Valdes, which Tariq denied doing. Detective Carter is here to do what Saxe couldn’t which could make for an interesting ending to Ghost in its final season.

Noma And Cane? It Can’t Be What I Think It Is

'Power Book II: Ghost' 402 w/ Caroline Chikezie as Noma & Woody McClain as Cane Tejada
STARZ

‘Power Book II: Ghost’ 402 w/ Caroline Chikezie as Noma & Woody McClain as Cane Tejada

Noma and Cane worked a bit more closely together in “To Thine Own Self,” but it appears that they will get even closer in this season of Ghost. After Monet spoils Noma’s initial meeting with the Russians, set up by Effie, Noma tasks Cane with finding another way to make the meeting happen. Cane, again, with help from Effie, is able to convince the Russians to work for Noma by offering them both military-grade weapons and drugs in exchange for them working for her. When Cane informs Noma of this, she is initially offended by him initiating a deal without her sign-off instructs Obi to choke Cane. However, when Cane proves that he understands Noma’s ways and thought-processes, Noma turns her anger to appreciation and offers to discuss the deal further with Cane over a glass of scotch, but not before she demands that Obi leave the room. What happens over this glass of scotch remains to be seen, but I would rather it not be another romantic foray for Cane, who would certainly go on a power trip if that happened and there have been enough of those in the lifespan of Ghost.

Monet Will Find What’s Been In Front Of Her This Whole Time

'Power Book II: Ghost' 402 w/ Mary J. Blige as Monet Tejada
STARZ

‘Power Book II: Ghost’ 402 w/ Mary J. Blige as Monet Tejada

Though recovering from her gunshot wounds that left her in a coma is her main priority at the moment, the second thing on the list for Monet is finding out who shot her. We the viewers, of course, know that Tariq’s mom Tasha was responsible for the gunshots in question, but the plan was to have Tariq shoot Monet, something he, Diana, and Dru came up with together. Seeing that Monet is alive, Diana and Dru have done their best to cover their tracks, but a highly inquisitive Monet and Cane have been relentless in their search for answers. Just like we saw with Lorenzo in season three, it’s only a matter of time until Monet finds out the truth and realizes that the answer she’s been looking for has been in front of her and in her home this whole time.

New episodes in ‘Power Book II: Ghost’ season 4 are available on the STARZ app on Fridays at 12:00 am EST and on the STARZ TV channel at 8:00 pm EST. Season 1-3 of ‘Ghost’ are now streaming on the STARZ app and website.

50 Cent’s transition to mogul has been a sight to witness. The “In Da Club” rapper struck TV gold with Power, and its spin-offs.

With Power Book II: Ghost starring Michael Rainey Jr. and now Power Book IV: Force with Joseph Sikora entering its final season, viewers are ready to say goodbye for good. However, yesterday (June 14), 50 Cent made it clear that Power Universe fans should expect something special rather soon.

While sharing the Sikora’s teaser video on the set of Force, 50 Cent used the post’s caption to hint at the beloved TV series’ future. “I’m glad all the fans have been so supportive of ‘Force,’” he wrote. “We have more heat coming, my ‘Power Universe’ is still expanding… wait till you see what I have up my sleeve, you haven’t seen the last of Tommy.”

Sikora echoed the sentiments in the clip. “When Gary Lennon and the other writers and I were mapping out our third season, we saw that we were telling a complete story,” he said. “And that this was the perfect opportunity to stay true to our artistic vision and make this the final chapter in Tommy’s journey in Chicago. But don’t worry, Tommy’s journey is far from over with. We’re just getting warmed up, and I can’t wait to show you what we have planned next.”

A grandma shows her granddaughter ‘shorthand’ and it blows the internet away

Grandparents can be a wealth of history and knowledge. But one TikTok user, Reagan Jones, was blown away by her grandmother’s ability to write in shorthand, so she did what a lot of people do in this century—uploaded it to TikTok. Not surprisingly, most people who viewed the video had no idea what shorthand was and some thought the whole thing was made up. The reaction to it certainly makes you question if it’s more than a lost art, but a forgotten part of history.

Shorthand is a method of quickly writing that has been around for a centuries. The first recorded history of a form of shorthand being used was in the 4th century B.C.. In the 1800s, two different types of shorthand became popular, Pitman in 1837 and Gregg in 1888. Looking at the shorthand alphabet may make you furrow your eyebrows because a lot of the symbols look ridiculously similar. It’s full of lines that are straight, slightly curled or partially looped and some that just look like a squiggle. It’s something to behold and resembles a super secret language.

Judging by the comments on the video, other people feel the same way. One commenter, Jamie wrote, “I’ve heard the term shorthand but I think my brain always took it as abbreviations not this 😳😅”

Another commenter, Samantha said, “Nah this has to be a glitch in the timeline I’ve never heard of this from any of my family member.”

@reaganjones176

This is called “short hand” and its a real form of old-style note-taking. She uses this to write herself notes daily. 😂#coolgrandma #funwithgrandma #grandparents #handwriting #shorthand

In a reply to a commenter, Jones revealed, “My grandma was a legal secretary for the railroad 🙂 She won a lot of awards for her work and shorthand in school.”

Now, that’s just cool. Sure there are still professions like court reporters and such that use shorthand, but it’s not as common as it was back when most people’s grandparents and great-grandparents were young adults. This was such a neat blast from the past. It’s clear that Jones’ grandma could probably still take home some awards for her unique skill.

After Taylor Swift Breakup, Joe Alwyn Claimed To Have Found Himself In An ‘Unusual And Abnormal Situation’

Taylor Swift is on top of the world. The “Fortnight” singer has a fresh set of international The Eras Tour stops, a new album (The Tortured Poets Department), and a Super Bowl-winning boyfriend in Travis Kelce to cuddle up with.

Although Swift is quite cozy under superstardom’s bright lights, not everyone in her orbit is a fan of fame. In fact, the musician’s ex-boyfriend Joe Alwyn claimed that their breakup was an “unusual and abnormal situation” given the public’s sudden interest in him.

Today (June 15), during an interview with The Times, Alwyn discussed dealing with the breakup and all the attention that came with it.

“I would hope that anyone and everyone can empathize and understand the difficulties that come with the end of a long, loving, fully committed relationship of over six and a half years,” he said. “That is a hard thing to navigate.”

He went on to address fans’ opinions on him, the split, and more. “What is unusual and abnormal in this situation is that, one week later, it’s suddenly in the public domain,” he said. “The outside world is able to weigh in.”

Ultimately, since their decision to go separate ways in April 2023, Alwyn has worked through his feelings on everything, including the unwanted notoriety. “There is always going to be a gap between what is known and what is said,” he said. “I have made my peace with that.”

Users online have praised Alwyn for the way he managed the split in the media in comparison to Swift’s most recent ex-lover, The 1975’s frontman Matty Healy.

A Touring Production Company Is Reportedly Suing Lil Uzi Vert For Over $500K In Unpaid Bills

Lil Uzi Vert works hard and spends big. From custom six-figure handbags to lavish gifts for their partner JT, the “Endless Fashion” rapper doesn’t mind flaunting their lavish lifestyle. However, a new lawsuit alleged that Lil Uzi Vert doesn’t always clear their debts.

According to Billboard, on June 13, touring production company, M99 Studios, filed a lawsuit in Georgia, which accused Lil Uzi Vert (real name Symere Bysil Woods) of skipping out on $533,499 in unpaid bills.

Lawyers for the company claim to have worked with Uzi throughout the years to ensure their “creative ideas, production, and staffing for all tours, shows and performances” were met, including their sets at Rolling Loud Miami and Roots Picnic.

In the filing, M99 alleged that on multiple occasions Uzi fell behind on billing, which left the company to make up for the “financial shortcomings.”

“While [Uzi’s] account would work from time-to-time,” the company wrote. “[Uzi’s] credit card would frequently be declined while on tour, making it impossible for M99 to ensure the safety and well-being of the crew without covering the expenses itself. Despite its numerous requests for payment of the outstanding invoices, at no point have [Uzi] compensated M99 for the services it provided.”

M99 Studios has requested that the courts enter a judgment against Lil Uzi Vert to cover the balance owed. Lil Uzi Vert has not released a public statement regarding the lawsuit.

‘1923’ Season 2: Everything To Know About Taylor Sheridan’s Enduring ‘Yellowstone’ Prequel (Update For June 2024)

1923 Harrison Ford Helen Mirren
Paramount+

A Yellowstone star has promised that the Taylor Sheridan flagship series will have the greatest finale in TV history. Whether or not that’s the case, there are still handfuls of other Sheridan shows ongoing and more Yellowstone spin offs in the future. Currently, the 1923 prequel is preparing to tell more of the Dutton family history by way of Harrison Ford and Helen Mirren. Oh yes, the ranch was always under threat in some shape and form.

To briefly sum up what’s out there in this universe already, 1883 aired for a final season, and 6666, 1944, and 2024 are in various stages of preparation. 1923 brought us the story of Jacob and Cara Dutton, and the show was so successful that Paramount and Sheridan decided that more stories were left to tell. What do we know about the sequel season so far?

Plot

In June, SkyShowtime CEO Monty Sarhon recently confirmed that not only has the show been filming, but instead of the July 2023 start date, according to Deadline, “They are filming a new season right now, Harrison Ford and Helen Mirren are hard at work.” As for the “where,” production has been geographically scattered from Austin, Texas up into Butte, Montana, which likely points towards another expensive season. Ford and Mirren also needed to be re-signed for the new season, and production was delayed due to industry upheaval, so it’s been a long road since early 2022 renewal.

Upfront, Taylor Sheridan made it clear that the second 1923 season, while unforeseen, needed to happen and that it will also be the final rodeo for Cara and Jacob in this story. The family tree grew more twisted last season, particular with speculation that Elizabeth is Jack Dutton III’s grandmother, so ideally, a more solid lineage path will materialize before this show concludes. Her miscarriage, however, does present another wrinkle.

Naturally, Whitfield is still very much a threat and would love to get his hands on the Dutton ranch, so don’t expect him to be forgiving of debt. (Remember, the ranch is in jeopardy, y’all!) The show also needs to follow up on Teonna’s fate after that climactic outbreak of violence and fallout of the duel between Spencer and Alex’s ex-fiancé. Spencer Dutton is also the son to 1883‘s James and Margaret, and yes, so many loose threads still exist in this saga, and Taylor Sheridan is staying quiet on those subjects.

Cast

A-listers now flock to Taylor Sheridan shows, and Harrison Ford was both thrilled to join this prequel along with Mirren. Both stars will reprise their roles, along with Brandon Sklenar. Stay tuned on news about Michelle Randolph, Jerome Flynn, Aminah Nieves, Julia Schlaepfer, Brian Geraghty, Timothy Dalton, and Robert Patrick.

Release Date

In early 2023, the official green light arrived for the second season. The Hollywood strikes, of course, landed shortly afterward, so it looks likely that even though filming is ongoing (and especially with Taylor Sheridan overseeing about 80 TV shows), 1923 won’t return until 2025.

Trailer

Not yet! Instead, Taylor Sheridan is here to talk about how he writes so many dang scripts.

Software engineer’s viral post says there’s no such thing as ‘low-skill’ jobs

A software engineer who used to work at Taco Bell has prompted a debate over “skilled” and “unskilled” or “low-skill” jobs and how much value we place on workers based on those labels. A post on Reddit shows a screenshot that reads:

“Idk man I’ve worked at Taco Bell and as a software engineer and the job that takes way more skill is not the one u would expect lol. Making a quesarito during lunch rush is 10x harder than writing any sort of algorithm. Service jobs are not ‘low skill’ bro lmfao.”

Others who have also worked service jobs weighed in with their thoughts and experiences, with some agreeing with the tweet and some vehemently disagreeing.

Some said “low-skill” doesn’t mean easy, just not something that takes long to learn.

“Low skill doesn’t mean easy. It just means that it doesn’t take long to train.

Low skill jobs are usually hard AF, because a lot of people can do them, often it’s physical and the profit margins can be low. So, people get exploited.

High skill jobs can be very easy. If the profit margins are high, the job is mostly mental, and there aren’t that many people that can do it then you get treated better. A doctor at the end of their career is generally not stressing themselves out taking patient appointments.”davidellis23

“Yes, they are low skill.

I was trained to be a waiter in 3 days, and there wasn’t much difference between myself and waiters with 10 yrs experience.

I studied 4 yrs for a CS degree, have been working and learning for for awhile as a dev, and I still don’t know sh*t about sh*t.” -Sonmi451-

“The spirit of what this guy is saying is right, he’s just using the wrong words.

IT jobs are way more skilled than service work. But service jobs are far and away much more difficult than IT jobs to actually do day in and day out. Service work is emotionally draining and soul crushing

IT jobs test knowledge, service jobs test will.”

In some ways, it’s an issue of semantics, and the actual definition of “skill” doesn’t make the discussion much clearer. Merriam-Webster defines “skill” as “the ability to use one’s knowledge effectively and readily in execution of performance,” “dexterity or coordination especially in the execution of learned physical tasks” and “a learned power of doing something competently: a developed aptitude or ability.”

While it’s true that the training involved in jobs like food service is not nearly as long or involved as becoming a computer programmer, calling that work “unskilled” or “low-skill” doesn’t really go along with the definitions of the word. It can also seem to devalue the skills necessary to be good at various kinds of jobs. Is multitasking not a skill? Is anticipating needs not a skill? Is handling difficult customers not a skill? Is problem-solving on the fly in a fast-paced environment not a skill?

“Food service in the kitchen especially is ALL about multitasking, efficiency, and pivoting. I got four orders coming up, what can I prep now so it’s ready with the rest of the next two customer’s food? Ope now there’s five. Customer says they had a large fry but cashier didn’t ring it up or they didn’t order it, gotta put more fries down either way.

Any mistakes or poor choices moment to moment mean everything gets slowed down. It’s much less like one task and more like 20 where in most cases you have to do things out of order because stuff takes time to cook but you don’t want food to get cold.” Hawkatom

Some suggested using alternate terms that feel more accurate, such as “credentialed” or “specially trained.”

“I prefer ‘credentialed’ or not. Whether or not you need a certificate before your on the job training is an orthogonal concept from how much job specific training or skill is required.” Bakkster

“In economics ‘skilled labor’ means jobs that require training/apprenticeships this it’s doctors, plumbers, lawyers, masons et al.

Unskilled labor does NOT mean that the job requires no skill only that you don’t need certification or training to claim the title.”No-Appearance-9113

Much of the discussion boils down to the fact that we place more value on certain skills than on others and pay accordingly, despite the fact that we rely on the people who do those difficult “unskilled” or “low-skill” jobs all the time (while there are plenty of highly skilled jobs that only benefit a small portion of the population). We need all kinds of workers, of course. We just need to be mindful of not judging some jobs as less challenging, less important or less valuable simply because they are labeled as “low-skill.”

Elderly military veteran comes out as gay in his obituary revealing a 25 year relationship

While in many ways being part of the LGBTQ community is more acceptable than it used to be, members of the community are still marginalized and are sometimes treated poorly. Many people still experience negative consequences for coming out as anything other than a heterosexual cisgendered person. Due to these factors, it’s not surprising that some people choose to hide their identity until they feel safe to reveal it.

Recently an elderly Army veteran’s obituary highlighted the difficulty of living with the fear of not being accepted. Col. Edward Thomas Ryan recently passed away in Albany, New York after having lived with a secret his entire life. The obituary for Col. Ryan starts off like any other obituary, reviewing who he is leaving behind, who passed before him and his life’s accomplishments.

The veteran was twice retired, once from the Army as a Colonel and again as a firefighter. He had many accomplishments that would make just about any family proud to be related to him, but Ryan requested his family tuck in a note from him to share with the world.

He was gay. Not only was he gay but he was in a relationship for 25 years. All of this was kept a secret as he did not want to be outcast by the people he loved the most so he held who he truly was close to his heart until after his death. Col. Ryan’s family printed his confession in his obituary which appears to be his last wish.

The personal note reads, “I must tell you one more thing. I was Gay all my life: thru grade school, thru High School, thru College, thru Life. I was in a loving and caring relationship with Paul Cavagnaro of North Greenbush. He was the love of my life. We had 25 great years together. Paul died in 1994 from a medical Procedure gone wrong. I’ll be buried next to Paul. I’m sorry for not having the courage to come out as Gay. I was afraid of being ostracized: by Family, Friends, and Co-Workers. Seeing how people like me were treated, I just could not do it. Now that my secret is known, I’ll forever Rest in Peace.”

Though Col. Ryan was able witness the public perception shifting about LGBTQ people, he likely still lived with the scars of past treatment of queer people.

In 1973, homosexuality was pathologized by the American Psychiatric Association (APA) as a mental illness or sickness. It wasn’t until 1997 that the adopted a resolution discouraging coercive measures a resolution discouraging coercive measures to change someone’s sexual orientation. Progress has been slow going. The APA just recognized that being transgender wasn’t a mental health disorder in 2013, and America didn’t recognize same sex marriage until 2015.

Col. Ryan’s fears were not unfounded. Jim Kisthardt, only came out just a few years ago at the age of 73 after his wife of 51 years died. He tells ABC7, “Times were very different. Being gay would be a curse. Being gay was one of the worst things you could bring to your family, worse than divorce.”

Kisthardt explains to the station that coming out when his parents were alive wasn’t an option because he thought it would’ve killed them, revealing that in the 50s and 60s gay people were ostracized and had to move away. While progress for LGBTQ rights may be moving slowly, they’re still moving and though Col. Ryan didn’t get to live fully as himself, at least he is now resting in peace. It’s fitting that he was able to have his final wish granted during pride month.
