The Price For Comcast’s Netflix, Peacock, Apple TV+ Bundle Sounds Too Good To Be True

Wednesday Jenna Ortega Netflix
Netflix

If you often find yourself switching from Netflix to Peacock, back to Netflix, then over to Apple TV+, the one more quick glance at Peacock just to find something to watch, you might begin to wonder: am I acting financially irresponsible with this behavior? Comcast wants to solve that problem!

Beginning next week, the cable company will offer StreamSaver, a new bundling service that will combine various steaming sites into one convenient package. The bundle includes Peacock Premium (with ads), Netflix Basic (with ads) and Apple TV+ as an add-on for Comcast TV or broadband. The bundle costs $15 a month, which is a 35% discount if the services were purchased separately.

Comcast also offers Now TV, a streaming-only service, which now has Netflx, AppleTV+ and Peacock in addition to 40 (!!) free ad-supported TV channels for $30 per month.

CEO and president of Comcast Dave Watson declared, “These are three premium streaming services that are combined in one compelling package. It’s a home run for consumers… We’re thrilled to have Netflix and Apple as partners.”

The announcement comes ahead of the impending price increase from Peacock, while Hulu, Max and Disney have been brewing up their own streaming concoction. It’s almost as if having everything in one place is a good idea… almost!

Dad shares the genius checklist of tasks his kids must complete before any screen time

We know too much screen time is not good for us. We also know that younger folks are particularly susceptible to screen addiction. What we don’t fully know is how to effectively help teens and tweens manage the habit, especially when screens are such an everyday part of life.

However, psychiatrist, author and dad of seven Richard Wadsworth recently went viral after showing his own personal strategy for getting his kids to do something other than scrolling. It could be the perfect solution for parents to not only break screen addiction, but instill some other healthy ritual as well.

In the clip, we first see Wadsworth’s tween son doing deltoid exercises with dumbbells. Which he apparently got up at 6:30 am to do.

What could possibly incentivize practically anyone, let alone a preteen to wake up at the crack of dawn to lift weights? Read on.

Wadsworth then showed a typed out list of various tasks that must be performed before even setting eyes on a phone or tablet. The list included a short workout in the form of one mile on the treadmill or 20 minutes of another exercise.

Wadsworth explained that rather than enforcing strict rules, this method provides necessary structure without taking away choice.

“I’m not forcing my son to exercise every day, but I am setting rules and boundaries around his screen time,” he said. “He decided he wanted to have more time after school to play with his friend. And so in order to do that, he realized that he’d need to wake up a little bit earlier and exercise in the morning.”

In addition to exercise, the list included domestic chores like cleaning the bedroom and shared areas, finishing homework, doing laundry, preparing for the next day…and, perhaps most importantly…making sure the toilet is flushed.

“We have all of their screens locked away. And if they want access to any of them, they need to come ask us and we’ll go through the list together. And they’re not getting their screens until the list is done,” Wadsworth continued.

He also drew a comparison between screen time and sugary sweets, noting how most parents probably wouldn’t routinely allow kids to eat dessert before a nutritious meal, but instead allow it to be a treat.

“Just as you would hopefully have your kids eat dinner before they had their dessert, you should probably be having them do something positive…before they get on their screens.” Hence why he tries to get his kids to complete their list before going to the phone.

And in case you’re wondering how Wadsworth’s son feels about all this, he reported having “so much energy for school” feeling “so much better” since his dad introduced the to-do list.

Bottom line: kids need guidance from their parents. And Wadsworth recommends clear cut boundaries to help them develop good habits, “because if you don’t do it, nobody else is.”

Wadsworth’s parenting hack was well received, with quite a few grown adults saying they could benefit from this type of boundary-setting in their own life.

“Even I’m addicted to this screen. I have to tell myself to put it down all the time and I’m a grown adult. Kids definitely need this!” one user wrote.

Another added, “I need someone to do this for me (I’m 28).” To which Wadsworth replied, “we all need parents sometimes.”

Even with potential TikTok bans, social media isn’t going anywhere. The sooner parents can implement guidelines like these, the better equipped their kids will be at balancing tech savviness with tech dependence.

When Will The Grammys Be Held In 2025?

grammys
Getty Image

The 2024 Grammys were only three months ago, but already, the Recording Academy is looking forward to the year ahead. The Academy posted a list of important dates for the 2025 Grammys, including the cutoff date for consideration (August 30), when the nominations will be announced (November 8), and when the voting for those nominations will conclude (January 3, 2025). The only question that leaves is: when will the 67th Annual Grammy Awards be held?

Fortunately, that date was part of the larger announcement. The 2025 Grammy Awards are scheduled for February 2, 2025, and will be broadcast live from Los Angeles’ Crypto.com Arena via CBS (or Paramount Plus).

The past year’s awards included some surprises, with Uproxx’s Derrick Rossignol listing the biggest winners and losers including Taylor Swift and boygenius winning several awards, Swift announcing her album The Tortured Poets Department, and Miley Cyrus’ performance among the winners. The eventful ceremony also saw Killer Mike led out in handcuffs after sweeping every category for which he was nominated earlier in the evening.

Next year’s awards already have stiff competition just for nominations, with the aforementioned Tortured Poets and Beyoncé’s Cowboy Carter dropping earlier this year. The latter is also sure to be the center point of some categorical controversy come November, and that’s without even knowing what else is dropping before the cutoff.

Ayo Edebiri Got Candid About Why She ‘Deliriously’ Kick-Started That ‘Silly’ Talk About Being From Ireland

Ayo Edebiri
Getty Image

Ayo Edebiri has been hard at work saving Hollywood with both her comedic chops and lamb chops, but she never forgets where she came from: Ireland.

Edebiri was, of course, born and raised in Boston, Massachusetts, home to Ben Affleck and Dunkin’ Donuts, but that didn’t stop her from claiming to be from the land of Cillian Murphy.

The Bear star appears on Vanity Fair‘s June cover where she explained that her Irish origin story was the result of her “silly little brain” being deliriously tired at SXSW last year while promoting Bottoms. Who doesn’t get a little goofy when they are tired? We’ve all seen this before.

From Vanity Fair:

While deliriously tired at the South by Southwest premiere for Bottoms, Edebiri told reporters that she was from Ireland. She’s not; she was born to a Barbadian mother and Nigerian father in Boston. But the internet ran with it, and Edebiri fully committed to the bit, with shout-outs to Ireland on numerous occasions. (And she remains committed. She told me that she has Irish relatives on both sides of her family, and who knows, maybe it’s true.) She attributes all of this to her “silly little brain.” Days after our interview, I find a selfie of Edebiri making a ridiculous face on my phone. I have no memory of her snapping it.

Though Edebiri is not from Colin Farrell’s homeland, she has been committing to the bit since it first made headlines last year, after Edebiri claimed to be Jenny the Donkey from The Banshees of Inisherin. Since then, she’s been popping up alongside Paul Mescal and has caught the attention of Barry Keoghan. We just need Saoirse Ronan to comment next, and then Edebiri can really claim Irish citizenship.

The best way to follow through with the long-running Ireland joke would be for Edebiri to star alongside Keoghan and Mescal in a Challengers situation. But instead of tennis, it would probably be some sort of pub crawl.

The Bear
returns on June 27th.

When Will ‘The Garfield Movie’ Be On Streaming?

garfield GRID
sony

Garfuriosa is almost upon us.

This weekend sees the release of both George Miller’s latest “masterpiece” Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga and The Garfield Movie. Based on the second best comic strip cat, the animated film is expected to help a sluggish start to summer blockbuster season, but when will the flick debut on streaming?

The Garfield Movie is a Sony film, which means it will stream on Netflix as part of an exclusivity deal. If another Sony title is any indication, the Netflix premiere date will be approximately four months after the theatrical debut. So, expect The Garfield Movie to start streaming around September.

Parents, prepare yourselves now.

Here’s the plot synopsis:

Garfield (voiced by Chris Pratt), the world-famous, Monday-hating, lasagna-loving indoor cat, is about to have a wild outdoor adventure! After an unexpected reunion with his long-lost father – scruffy street cat Vic (voiced by Samuel L. Jackson) – Garfield and his canine friend Odie are forced from their perfectly pampered life into joining Vic in a hilarious, high-stakes heist.

The Garfield Movie, which also features the voices of Samuel L. Jackson, Hannah Waddingham, Ving Rhames, Nicholas Hoult, Cecily Strong, Harvey Guillén, Brett Goldstein, Bowen Yang, and Snoop Dogg, is out in theaters on May 24.

When Does ‘Industry’ Return For Season 3?

Industry Season 3 Kit Harington
HBO

Plenty of discussion has compared HBO’s Industry to a Gen-Z version of Succession, and that’s honestly fine because (even though that’s only scratching the surface) we wouldn’t discourage anybody from being curious enough about that analogy to check out this lower-key hit on HBO. The even more excellent news is that if you love binging, two complete seasons of Industry already exist for the taking, and before summer’s end, weekly editions of the third installment will launch on HBO and stream on Max.

When Does ‘Industry’ Return For Season 3?

Sunday, August 11 at 10:00pm EST will be the magic time. That’s when we will see the sex and drugs begin to flow again for these Pierpoint bankers as they continue to navigate their cutthroat world while juggling the messiest personal lives. Rising in the ranks and falling are both nearly inevitable practices for this gathering of young-ish financiers, but that’s part of the appeal of this series. Creators Mickey Down and Konrad Kay have lined up eight new episodes for this season, and here’s the synopsis:

In season three, as Pierpoint looks to the future and takes a big bet on ethical investing, Yasmin (Marisa Abela), Robert (Harry Lawtey), and Eric (Ken Leung) find themselves front and center in the splashy IPO of Lumi, a green tech energy company led by Henry Muck (Kit Harington), in a story that runs all the way to the very top of finance, media, and government. Since leaving Pierpoint, Harper (Myha’la) is eager to get back into the addictive thrill of finance and finds an unlikely partner in FutureDawn portfolio manager Petra Koenig (Sarah Goldberg).

In addition to the returning cast members — Myha’la, Marisa Abela, Conor MacNeill, Sagar Radia, Indy Lewis, Adam Levy, Sarah Parish, Harry Lawtey, Ken Leung, Trevor White, and more — some new faces are onboard. Those include Kit Harington (as Henry Muck, shown above, who hopefully knows more than Jon Snow on Game of Thrones) and Sarah Goldberg (who hopefully isn’t as stressed out as her Barry character while portraying Petra Koenig), along with Roger Barclay, Fiona Button, Miriam Petite, and Adam Cavill.

Get ready for the bell to ring, but in the most sexy way possible, when Industry comes back to HBO, and here are some more first-look images.

Snoop Dogg Is Auctioning Off A Truly Wild Variety Of Memorabilia, From TV Scripts To Death Row Chains

Snoop Dogg is auctioning photos, PlayStations, autographed riders, autographed jackets and jerseys, and more. According to Variety, the Long Beach native has teamed up with memorabilia-authentication and auction company The Realest to host the auction, from today until June 2.

Producer and radio host Scott “DJ Skee” Keeney, the founder of The Realest, told Variety, “The items he is putting up are iconic. Everything from lyrics, awards — like ‘Pimp of the Year’! — unreleased tapes, outfits, sample toys, photos, scripts, concert riders, even a Snoop-authenticated smoked blunt in a crazy display case and ashtray.”

Other notable items being offered include autographed scripts from The Boondocks TV show, master recording tapes (sans the publishing rights they may represent), and even a Death Row Records chain in a custom box autographed by Snoop. As the Doggfather put it in a statement, “This is sh*t that we have, but we didn’t know it was worth something.”

As Variety notes, auctions involving hip-hop memorabilia are often quite profitable — just last year, a mic thrown by Cardi B was auctioned for charity, while the year before that, a rap book of Drake’s went up for sale — but rappers themselves are rarely the beneficiaries of their stuff being sold. Speaking of Drake, he bought one of Tupac’s rings last year, and his purchase of Pharrell’s chain was a point of contention in his battle with Kendrick Lamar.

DJ Skee sees his platform as a potential revenue stream for artists, saying, “Items like setlists, stage equipment, outfits, signage, and more are things that fans desire but can’t find. It helps to build a new revenue stream for artists.”

When Will The 2025 Grammy Nominations Be Announced?

Grammy Awards Trophy Grammys Grammophone

Given everything that has happened in the music world lately, it might feel like the 2024 Grammys were forever ago. In reality, they were only just in February, if you can believe that. Still, it’s already time to start looking forward to the 2025 Grammys.

As for who and what will be considered for next year’s awards, here’s what to know about when we’ll have that information.

When Will The 2025 Grammy Nominations Be Announced?

Today (May 21), the Recording Academy shared a list of key dates for the 2025 awards. One is the window during which products need to be released in order to be eligible for award consideration, and that runs from September 16, 2023 to August 30, 2024. Then the first round of voting stretches from October 4 to October 15. After that, the nominations will be announced on November 8.

Following that is the final round of voting (from December 12, 2024 to January 3, 2025) and the 67th Annual Grammy Awards ceremony on February 2, 2025. The show will be broadcast live from Los Angeles’ Crypto.com Arena, via CBS and Paramount+.

Meanwhile, the Grammys were recently on Dua Lipa’s mind: In May, she told Apple Music’s Zane Lowe about how backlash to her winning Best New Artist motivated her, saying, “‘She’s got no stage presence. She can’t do this. She’s not well equipped. She won’t be here next year though.’ There was a lot of that and that fueled me in a way. I try not use criticism as this revenge thing, but it does push you in a way.”

CNN Had Cam’ron Talk About Diddy, And The Result Was A Predictable, Hilarious Mess

There’s very little funny about the Sean “Diddy” Combs situation lately, but thanks to the cluelessness of CNN’s interview booker, hip-hop fans are having a good chuckle anyway.

Cam’ron, who once gave the world the “You mad” meme after Bill O’Reilly foolishly tried to debate him, delivered another doozy of an interview with Abby Phillips. The result was (predictably) a hilarious mess.

The notoriously elusive Harlem rapper stubbornly refused to give many straight answers about Diddy (“The apology ain’t for me to decide, it’s Cassie… he ain’t do nothin’ to me”), chugged a pre-sex energy drink (“Sorry, I’m going to get some cheeks after this”), and pointed out that his podcast co-host Mase had more experience dealing with Diddy — whom Cam insisted on continuing to call “Puff,” despite Combs changing his nicknames three times since then.

The coup de grâce was Cam plugging the It Is What It Is podcast right before questioning “Who the talent agent for this joint? You think I be sitting around watching what Diddy do? … Who booked me for this joint?”

Even better, on today’s episode of It Is What It Is, Cam and Mase addressed the disastrous interview, with Cam complaining that the interview wasn’t about their podcast or philanthropy, but Diddy. “You call me on CNN for the bullsh*t, I’m a give you the bullsh*t,” he proclaimed, while crowing about the free promo.

And you know what? The man makes a pretty good point. The media ignores hip-hop when rappers do positive things, but loves to highlight crimes, shootings, and controversy. Cam’s interview is a good reminder that there are two sides to the coin.
