Rich Brian Finds A ‘Little Ray Of Light’ In The First Preview From His New Album ‘Where Is My Head?’

Uproxx cover star Rich Brian has announced a new album, his first in six years. Where Is My Head? doesn’t come out until May 23, but on Friday (March 14), the “Sundance Freestyle” artist released the first single, “Little Ray Of Light,” which is self-produced and built around analog instrumentation.

Where Is My Head? is described in a press release as “the most vulnerable and authentic music” in Rich Brian’s career. It continues, “Brian decided to handle most of the performances himself, honing in on an analog sound thanks to his intense immersion learning to play synthesizers and keyboards. He sings more than ever before on the new album, showcasing a confident and mature delivery.”

Rich Brian previously told Uproxx how he got involved with the 88Rising collective. “They were trying to fly me out to go to South By Southwest in 2016,” he saud. “And that was when I told my mom, ‘Hey, I might be going to the US to do a show.’ She was like, ‘Yeah, you should go.’ But unfortunately, my visa got rejected, so it didn’t happen right away. I remember them talking about the vision of 88rising. I think this is before 88 even had its first video on YouTube. I knew about Dumbfoundead and how Sean was doing stuff with Keith Ape.” He added, “This is something. I’m down to be a part of this.”

Wet Unveils The Ethereal Single ‘Close Range,’ From Her Upcoming Album ‘Two Lives’

Wet (Kelly Zutrau) is prepping her first album in a while, since 2021’s Letter Blue. The project, Two Lives, is set to arrive in April, and today, she has shared a dreamy single, “Close Range.”

Per a press release, the title of the album was inspired by Zutrau learning in 2022 that she was pregnant: “Zutrau was jolted into action when she received some surprising news: She was pregnant. At first, she felt overwhelmed by grief. Her future suddenly felt narrow and constricted, the limitless potential of youth yanked from her in a single moment. That day, she wrote the lyric that would define the mood of the entire record: ‘I wish I could live two lives.’ Zutrau and Ross wrote most of Two Lives in the days following the positive pregnancy test. Two Lives is a document of the uncertainty that surrounds life’s major transitions.”

The release also describes the album as “sometimes melancholic, sometimes bright, and always soulful.”

Listen to “Close Range” above. The band is also going on tour starting in May, so find ticket information here and check out Wet’s upcoming tour dates below.

Aminé’s Joyous ‘Familiar’ Video Displays His Ethiopian Pride With A Combo Of House Music And Traditional Dance

Aminé’s recent experience working with Kaytranada has apparently had a lasting effect on the Portland rapper. His new solo single, “Familiar,” takes a different tack from his past solo material, employing the sort of four-on-the-floor dance beat favored by the Kaytraminé composer. But its lyrical content is indeed “familiar,” as he makes an entreaty to a paramour to “tell me what’s the problem,” as he reminds her that “I’m so familiar to you.”

The video is a simple but exuberant affair, opening with an argument between some Ethiopian uncles, and putting Aminé’s home culture on proud display via a team of dancers in traditional Ethiopian clothes. At the end of the video, Aminé joins them to enjoy the rain.

It has been about five years since Aminé’s last solo album, Limbo, but he’s been much more productive of late, dropping two singles in October: “Adam” and “Passenger Princess” with Smino. That would seem to suggest that he’s soon to announce a new body of work, and judging from the three songs he’s dropped so far, we can expect both a return to his proclivity for spitting clever bars and a continuation of his newfound fascination with dance-rap, a la Channel Tres or Duckwrth. We’ll have to stay tuned to find out.

After a few weeks of pushy demands from TikTok users, Doechii re-released her song “Anxiety.” With the official version of the Grammy Award-winner’s track officially on streaming, users online have begun celebrating with a series of trends.

At the forefront of the viral movement is a scene from the beloved 1990s sitcom The Fresh Prince of Bel Air. Seeing the resurgence of the show’s online popularity its lead actor Will Smith joined forces with Doechii for a thrilling video for their own.

In the clip (viewable here), Smith and Doechii are mirror images. As your eye focuses in on Smith dressed in a gray hoodie (reminiscent of 2017’s Bright), he removes his covering only to reveal Doechii’s face.

Users online are equally freaked out and geeked by the fun camera trick.

“First ever rap Grammy with current rap Grammy winner collab,” wrote one user.

“I yelled in real life. I love this,” penned another.

“Mirror mirror on the wall can @doechii and @willsmith create a song for us all? 🙏🏽😝,” chimed one user.

“The Fresh Prince & The Swamp Princess 👑🐊🔥,” exclaimed another.

In a follow-up clip (viewable here), Doechii recreated the hilarious The Fresh Prince of Bel Air scene where Tatyana Ali and Will Smith and joyful dance alongside the actors.

Clearly, anxiety no longer gets the best of Doechii.

When Will ‘Outlander’ Season 8 Come Out?

outlander-claire-jamie-lg
Starz

“Droughtlander” officially came to a close last year with Jamie Frasier and Claire Randall resurfacing on Starz, but it’s never enough for devotees of Diana Gabaldon’s historical romances. The wait for more Outlander soon resumed, a quest that was heightened by knowing that the eighth season finished filming last fall. Not even Sam Heughan’s immediate resurgence in The Couple Next Door could quench that thirst, nor does knowing that the Blood Of My Blood prequel spin off will also soon tell the stories of Claire and Jamie’s parents.

In other words, the Outlander universe has multiple shows in motion (such as a potential Lord John Grey spin off), including the flagship series’ return, but there’s nothing like the original.

Does Outlander Season 8 Have A Release Date?

Not yet. However, Starz revealed that Outlander: Blood Of My Blood will premiere in summer 2025 with a date not revealed for the flagship series’ final season, which will presumably not arrive until after the prequel’s first season concludes.

There’s plenty more to offer on Starz, however. Ella Purnell’s dark comedy series, Sweetpea, was renewed for a second season, and there’s more coming from creator Randy Huggins’ BMF, which will soon debut a fourth season. And as always, 50 Cent’s TV universe will keep cranking out the hits and is currently grinding through Power Book III: Raising Kanan‘s fourth season as we speak.

Jay Rock Was Arrested In Watts For Gun Possession And Trespassing

TDE rapper Jay Rock was arrested in his hometown, Watts, Los Angeles, on Thursday evening by LAPD officers and charged with gun possession, according to local news. The report says Jay (whose real name is Johnny Reed McKinzie) was arrested for trespassing and drinking in public after running from officers. When they checked the vehicle he fled from, they found a firearm.

Jay Rock hasn’t released an album since 2018’s Redemption, but he has been teasing a new project called East Side Johnny for the past couple of years, releasing the singles “Eastside” and “Too Fast,” which featured Anderson .Paak and Latto. The delay in releasing the project comes as little surprise; Top Dawg Entertainment has developed a reputation for taking its time in developing artists, whose albums have had as much as five years between them.

It’s proven to be a winning strategy in the past; in addition to rappers like Isaiah Rashad and Ab-Soul experiencing well-received comebacks, the anticipation for projects from Doechii and SZA have led to tremendous breakout successes for the two women. SZA’s most recent album, SOS, arrived five years after her debut CTRL, and spent weeks at No. 1 on the Billboard 200; its heavily anticipated deluxe edition similarly debuted at the top of the chart early this year. While Doechii’s mixtape Alligator Bites Never Heal hasn’t reached those heights, it did earn her a Best Rap Album Grammy, proving that the best results are achieved with the aid of time.

Neither Jay Rock nor TDE reps have commented on the arrest, but don’t be surprised if the label takes the opportunity to change the narrative with a new music announcement.

Chappell Roan’s Next Album Isn’t Coming Any Time Soon: ‘So Beyond Far Away From That’

chappell roan acl

Chappell Roan was in a peculiar position when she rose to stardom in 2024: She had released her debut album, The Rise And Fall Of A Midwest Princess, the year before, meaning she didn’t have a bunch of new material ready to go for a new album to capitalize on her increased exposure. Now, demand for a new album is high, but it seems Roan won’t be releasing one for at least a little while.

During a recent live broadcast, Roan responded to a viewer’s question, saying, “‘New album?’ Great question. We’re so beyond… so beyond far away from that, I could not even tell you.”

This follows Roan’s release of the single “The Giver,” and an accompanying statement in which she addresses new music:

“I have such a special place in my heart for country music. I grew up listening to it every morning and afternoon on my school bus and had it swirling around me at bon fires, grocery stores and karaoke bars. Many people have asked if this means I’m making a country album??? My answer is.. right now I’m just making songs that make me feel happy and fun and The Giver is my take on c*ntry xoxo may the classic country divas lead their genre, I am just here to twirl and do a little gay yodel for y’all.”

So, it would seem that “The Giver” does not mark the start of a new album cycle, or at least not one that’s going to pick up significant momentum in the near future.

The Absolute Best National Pi Day Deals To Get You Pizza On The Cheap

THe Best Pi Day Deals To Get YoU Cheap Pizza(1024x450)
Uproxx

Pi Day is a holiday for nerds. Any holiday that seeks to celebrate a mathematic constant is inherently nerdy, there is no way around it. But Pi isn’t just a never-ending number, it’s also the ratio of a circle’s circumference (look who the nerd is now), and you know what else is circular? Pizza. We’re not sure who exactly is responsible for turning Pi Day — a holiday that was first celebrated in 1988 and started by a physicist named Larry Shaw — into a celebration of pizza rather than math, but we thank them for it!

Because while we avoid math like the plague, we are magnetically drawn to all things pizza. And you know what’s even better than pizza? A billion pizzas — or you know, free pizza! And by free, we mean pizza that costs $3.14. Unfortunately for all of us, Pi Day isn’t a big enough holiday that we get free pizza, but hey, times are tough, we’ll take very cheap pizza over full priced any day! Who doesn’t love a deal?

So to help get you fed, we’re shouting out all the best Pi Day pizza deals right now. Move fast because these deals are only good for one day, today. So, make a plan to have pizza for dinner tonight. Let’s dive in.

7-Eleven Pick up a whole pizza for $3.14 when ordering via the 7NOW app.

BJ’s Restaurant and Brewhouse Buy a full-size Pizookie and receive a second one for $3.14. It’s not a pizza, but at least it’s shaped like one. This deal especially hurts because BJ’s actually has pizza on the menu. We’ll take the deal, but this doesn’t feel like its honoring the Pi Day spirit.

Blaze Pizza Order an 11-inch pizza and receive a second one for just $3.14. A pretty great deal for two, now you’ll just have to fight over who is paying for the cheaper pizza.

Burger King Royal Perks members will be treated to a Hershey Pie if you spend more than $3.14 during Pi Day. It’s not pizza, but hey, it’s almost free!

California Pizza Kitchen Spend $25 at CPK and you can add an Original BBQ Chicken, Pepperoni, or Traditional Cheese pizza for just $3.14.

Casey’s Buy a large pizza and you can pick up a medium specialty pizza, breadsticks, or a small order of wings for $3.14 when checking out with the code “PIDAY.”

Chuck E. Cheese Purchase a large pizza and will allow you to purchase an additional medium one-topping pizza for $3.14.

CiCi’s Pizza With the purchase of a medium or large one-topping pizza, you can purchase a second for $3.14. To claim the deal, order using the promo code “PIDAY.” This deal is for both online and in-store orders.

Grimaldi’s Pizza From 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. on March 14th, you can pick up a giant slice for $3.14 at all Grimaldi locations.

Marco’s Pizza Purchase a large or extra-large full-priced pizza and receive a medium 1-topping for just $3.14. To claim the deal, checkout using the code “PIDAY.”

Mountain Mike’s Mountain Rewarsds members can score a free mini pizza with the purchase of any 20 oz beverage. This is the kind of deal we need more of on Pi Day. Free pizza, none of this $3.14 garbage.

Papa John’s Papa John’s Rewards members who buy a large or extra large pizza can pick up a second one for $3.14. At this point this sneaky attempt to charge for a BOGO deal needs a name. Let’s call it BOGOFSLM (buy one, get one for slightly less money).

Papa Murphy’s Online orders will receive 31.4% off when checking out with the code “PIDAY25.”

Round Table Pizza Royal Rewards Members can pick up a personal one-topping pizza for $3.14 when purchasing a large or extra large pizza.

Taco Bell People ordering via the Taco Bell app can purchase a Mexican pizza for $3.14. That’s nearly half the normal price!

4Batz Talks To Himself In The ‘Mortal Kombat’ Music Video About A Haunting Love Fatality

Last year, 4Batz road out his breakout wave by releasing mixtape U Made Me A St4r, dropping a collaboration with Drake, and hitting the road for his Thank U, Jada Tour. Now, the “Hood Grammy” singer is back to do it all over again.

Today (March 14), 4Batz’s first single of the year, “Mortal Kombat,” hit streaming platforms. But, as an added bonus, 4Batz treated fans to a supporting music video for the brooding song on YouTube. Despite the track’s title, 4Batz isn’t welcoming a romantic fight to the death. Instead, the hopeless romantic wants to shed light on how a love TKO nearly knocked him out of the game.

“We always fight / I know that I’m wrong, but this sh*t feels so right / And you say you’re gone, but you’re back the same night / So fight for your rights, fight for your life / ‘Cause we always fight, we always fight / I know that I’m wrong, but this sh*t feels so right / And you say you’re gone, but you’re back the same night / So fight for your rights, fight for your life / ‘Cause we always fight,” he sings.

In the “Mortal Kombat” visual, 4Batz opens up to his sole safe space, himself, about his bout with an unhealthy relationship.

Prior to its release, 4Batz revealed that his newly found fame sent him into a dark battle with depression. “Been battling depression,” he wrote in an Instagram post (viewable here). “N****s don’t teach you how to deal with success and sh*t. But I’m back f*cking up yo timeline.”

Does Kendrick Lamar Diss Drake On Playboi Carti’s New Album?

kendrick lamar

After months of delays (years, really), Playboi Carti’s new album Music is out, at long last. As rumored in the hours before its release, it does in fact feature Kendrick Lamar on not just one, but three songs: “Mojo Jojo,” “Backd00r,” and “Good Credit.”

However, contrary to the rumors started by streamer/professional yapper Akademiks (he ain’t no DJ), neither song features any references to Drake and Kendrick Lamar’s longstanding feud. “Not Like Us” was Kendrick’s victory lap (and what a victory lap it was). It seems unlikely he wants to waste all this attention on flogging a horse that is well and truly dead as a doornail.

In fact, Kendrick doesn’t even rap on “Mojo Jojo,” instead opting to play hype man, delivering an intro demanding “that back to the future Carti,” and issuing enthused ad-libs in response to the Atlanta rapper’s boasts.

Meanwhile, on “Backd00r,” Kendrick croons on the chorus rather than rapping. It’s not a diss song either, going for semi-romantic. “I’ma make it back it all and probably spend it all on you,” he charms.

Finally, on “Good Credit,” the only song he actually raps on, he makes no mention of Drake, nor anything that could be taken to be about Drake without a Victor Wembanyama-level reach. Instead, he calls Carti his “evil twin,” flexes his diamond chains and status out west, and reminds listeners that “The hate get realer, the love get fake, but when you this great, that’s how you should like it.”

So, no Kendrick Lamar does not diss Drake on Playboi Carti’s new album — and you all have GOT to stop listening to Livingston Allen about anything.
