Doja Cat Shows Off Her Backside With A Revealing Album Cover To Announce ‘Scarlet II: Claude Frollo’

Getty Image

For a little while now, Doja Cat has been teasing a deluxe edition of her album Scarlet. Now, she has revealed more, and “revealed” is the right word there: She shared the cover art for Scarlet II: Claude Frollo today (April 2), and it features a photo of Doja facing away from the camera in a squatting position, which shows off her mostly bare backside.

Back in January, Doja shared a working tracklist for the project, featuring songs called “Acknowledge Me,” “Head High,” “Gang,” “Masc,” “Rider,” Urrrge,” and “Hungry.” It remains to be seen how or if the tracklist will end up being different than that version. “Masc” is definitely included, as Doja is set to release the song soon.

In an interview on The Therapy Gecko Podcast in February, Doja explained her reasoning for naming the project after Hunchback Of Notre Dame character Claude Frollo, saying:

“Because he is like a… is he a tyrant? He’s like a… I feel like it connects to the story of Scarlet in some way. And if you look up his personality traits and who he is and his story, you’ll understand kind of the whole connection. There’s a control aspect, like he just abuses his power and his control and is just dogmatic and is just a total c*nt. And all Esmerelda wanted to do was just be creative and sing and dance, but nasty old Claude Frollo was just having a field day on her, just being awful and a bad guy, stinky man.

And this isn’t about anyone in… there’s not anything very personal happening to me with one person. Claude Frollo doesn’t depict a single person in my life. It’s like a metaphor for the people that creatives endure on a daily basis in a bigger picture, a bigger scale.”

Khalid Shared The Release Date For ‘Please Don’t Fall In Love With Me,’ Calling It ‘The Start Of A New Chapter’

In late February, Khalid shared a snippet of his long-awaited comeback single “Please Don’t Fall In Love With Me,” along with a video compiling performances of the song from various locations. Today, he revealed the song’s impending release date: April 5, calling it, “the start of a new chapter.”

If that’s the case, he sure left the book on the shelf for a long time. Khalid’s last album, Free Spirit, came out in 2019, nearly five years ago. In the meantime, he released a mixtape, Scenic Drive, in 2021, but has kept a relatively low profile in the years since, only emerging last year with the single “Softest Touch” and the Barbie soundtrack cut “Silver Platter.” He also collaborated with Kiana Ledé, Toosii, PNAU, and Dove Cameron in 2023.

During the summer last year, joined Ed Sheeran on tour, although some of his performances had to be nixed due to a car accident.

In February this year, Khalid wrote on Instagram, “I know I’ve been MIA for a minute, but it feels good to be back soon. New Music 2024. New album 2024.” It still remains to be seen if the album will still be called Everything Is Changing, as he insinuated in 2021, but for now, we at least have a new song to look forward to.

“Please Don’t Fall In Love With Me” is out 4/5 via RCA.

Something tells me this year’s Kelce Jam will be even more popular than it was last year. On May 18, Super Bowl-winning Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce — who you might have heard is dating Taylor Swift — will throw the second annual Kelce Jam at the Azura Amphitheater in Bonner Springs, Kansas. The lineup is headlined by Lil Wayne, Diplo, and 2 Chainz.

Other highlights include Travis Kelce’s Backyard BBQ (“This oversized BBQ activation will bring Kelce Jam fans together to enjoy the best KC BBQ and delectable custom Jim Beam cocktails all in one place”); the Uncrustables Uncrustival carnival, an homage to “Travis’ favorite peanut butter and jelly sandwich”; and a special guest appearance by… never mind, she’s busy.

“Kansas City, Kelce Jam is back baby! I’m excited to once again welcome fans for the ultimate day of music, food, and an electric experience celebrating Kansas City,” Kelce said in a statement. “Last year you exceeded my expectations when over 20,000 fans showed up in the rain to ‘fight for your right to party,’ and this year promises to be even more over the top as we welcome Lil Wayne, Diplo, and 2Chainz to the stage!”

Tickets for Kelce Jam go on sale on Friday, although you can register online now. General admission tickets cost $49.99, while VIP passes start at $249.99. You can find more information here.

Ice-T Boldly Asked, ‘What The F Is WOKE???’ And People Had A Field Day

SVU ICE T
NBC

After over 500 episodes and 25 seasons, it’s no surprise that Law and Order: SVU has to get creative with some of the cases. Not every crime is a cut-and-dry murder or kidnapping case, sometimes it’s more complex, like a father leaving his child in the hands of a Times Square character so the police don’t question him for holding a woman hostage in a cage. You know, New York things. These are just the basic facts that SVU fans have grown used to, though not everyone is on board.

Ice T, who has been on the show since season two, responded to a Twitter user who claimed that Law and Order: SVU was becoming “woke” after nearly 25 years of eclectic New York City crimes, most of which were based on real headlines. In response to the since-deleted post, Ice said: “Lol…. What the F is WOKE….??? lol,” says the man who released “COP KILLER” in 1992.

The responses continued, with one “fan” claiming that SVU is “a propaganda vessel” that’s brainwashing the minds of the American people. This made Mr. Ice pretty confused, and when he’s confused he just gets angry, as we know by the lyrics to the aforementioned “COP KILLER.” He also clarified that he doesn’t write the show, so the content isn’t up to him. He just collects his paycheck and hangs out with Mariska Hargitay.

Luckily, T doesn’t really care what you think of him. After a few exchanges, he made it clear he was done with the haters. Hopefully, he washed his hands, though.

Who Is On PartyNextDoor’s ‘PartyNextDoor 4’ Album Cover?

PartyNextDoor SXSW 2024
Getty Image

Yesterday (April 1), PartyNextDoor made waves by sharing the album cover for his upcoming album, PartyNextDoor 4. Album art has been known to get risqué, but PND took it to a different level this time around: The image is a photo of a naked woman photographed from behind. The woman strikes a suggestive pose on a bed, on all fours with her backside in the air. The framing of the photo crops out some, but certainly not all, of her butt. The implication here is that this photo was taking during a sexual act. The woman’s lower back also features a tattoo with the number 4.

The photo, which is too NSFW to be embedded in this post, can be seen on PartyNextDoor’s Instagram.

As the picture made the rounds, some started wondering about who the woman featured in the art is.

‘Joker 2’: All The Details That You Need To Know (Update For April 2024)

Joker 2 Folie A Deux Lady Gaga Harley Quinn
Warner Bros.

Set to arrive later this year, Joker: Folie à Deux is easily one of the most anticipated comic book movies of 2024 as the film is set to bring Joaquin Phoenix back into the title role and introduce Lady Gaga in an all-new spin on Harley Quinn.

Director Todd Phillips is also back in the director’s chair after delivering the original Joker, which took a much more grounded and disturbing dive into the classic character. Not only did the film bring in over a billion dollars at the box office, but it locked down an Oscar win for Phoenix thanks to his visceral and tortured performance.

Now, the two are back for an all-new dive into the twisted psyche of the Joker. Here’s everything we know:

Plot

While not much known is about the plot to Joker: Folie à Deux, the sequel has been rumored to be a musical ever since it was announced. However, just how much it would lean into that concept has been up in the air until recently. According to Variety, the Joker sequel is going to lean very heavily into the genre as the film introduces Lady Gaga’s Harley Quinn into this darker take on the classic Batman villain:

Insiders privy to filming and early versions of Todd Phillips’ eagerly awaited sequel to “Joker” tell Variety the movie leans heavily towards being “mostly a jukebox musical,” as it integrates at least 15 reinterpretations of “very well-known” songs. One is said to be “That’s Entertainment” from the 1953 musical “The Band Wagon,” famously associated with Judy Garland. However, there is a door open for an original song (or two) to be added to the final version. Details regarding who would pen the tracks, or sing the numbers are unknown.

In Batman: The Animated Series, where she practically became a fan-favorite character overnight, Harley Quinn (real name: Harleen Quinzel, because comic books) was the Joker’s therapist before being seduced by clown-faced villain and serving as his sidekick/lover. In recent years, Harley has struck out on her own and become a beloved anti-hero who’s washed her hands of her deranged ex, but the Joker sequel will presumably stick to their twisted courtship.

Cast

Naturally, Joaquin Phoenix is back as Arthur Fleck/Joker. Zazie Beetz is reportedly set to reprise her role as Sophie even though her fate in the original film was ambiguous, but probably not great. However, that about does it for returning characters. For this second romp, Phoenix will be joined by a new ensemble including the intriguing casting of Lady Gaga as the Joker’s number one gal, Harley Quinn. Brendan Gleeson and Catherine Keener will also star in the sequel in unspecified roles.

Release Date

On New Year’s Day 2024, director Todd Phillips confirmed Joker: Folie à Deux will arrive this year, but pretty far down the calendar. The sequel will hit theaters on October 4, which places it directly in awards season. Could Phoenix lock down another Oscar win for his dark and tortured performance as the Clown Prince of Crime, but this time with singing? We’re about to find out, but also don’t rule out Lady Gaga for a potential nom. She reportedly threw herself so deep into the Harley Quinn role that she made everyone on set call her “Lee.”

Trailer

As of this writing, Joker: Folie à Deux does not have a trailer, but that’s about to change very soon. The official Twitter account for the sequel recently shared a new poster featuring Phoenix and Gaga as the Joker and Harley. (Keeping with the film’s musical theme, the two are, of course, dancing.) Along with the poster reveal, the social media account confirmed that the Joker 2 trailer will hit on April 9.

You can see the official poster for Joker: Folie à Deux below:

‘Recon’ Breaks Down The Most-Anticipated Games Of 2024

We’re almost a quarter of the way through 2024 now. But, there’s still plenty of time left in the year, and plenty of exciting new games to look forward to.

In the latest episode of Uproxx’s Recon, hosts Noelle Miller and Gavyn dive into some of the most enticing and anticipated titles set to drop in the coming months. There’s a bit of everything, too, from some Nintendo magic to long-overdue remakes to games based on fascinating historical texts.

On the remake front, fresh editions of Alone In The Dark and Silent Hill 2 are both on the way. These remakes are shaping up to be as similar as they are different: Both of the originals were landmark releases in the horror genre, but while Alone In The Dark boasts a new story based on the original, Silent Hill 2 is more of a faithful, 1-to-1 remake. Nintendo is getting in on the remake party, too, with Luigi’s Mansion 2. This one is an updated version of 3DS favorite Luigi’s Mansion: Dark Moon, and it’ll be interesting to see how the transition from the two-screen 3DS to the single-display Switch is handled.

Gavyn and Noelle also take a look at Black Myth: Wukong, a Hollow Knight sequel, and a new Indiana Jones adaptation, so check it all out in the episode above.

When Does Kevin Smith’s ‘The 4:30 Movie’ Come Out?

430 movie
saban

Many of Kevin Smith‘s films follow adults who act like teenagers. His next movie will be about actual teens.

Written and directed by Smith, Saban Films’ The 4:30 Movie is set in 1986 and follows three 16-year-old friends — played by Austin Zajur, Nicholas Cirillo, and Reed Northrup — who spend the summer sneaking into the local multiplex to watch movies for free. “But when one of the guys also invites the girl of his dreams (Siena Agudong) to see the latest comedy, each of the teens will learn something serious about life and love before the credits roll,” according to the official plot synopsis.

The comedy’s ensemble also includes Ken Jeong, Genesis Rodriguez, Justin Long, Jason Lee, Rachel Dratch, Kate Micucci, Adam Pally, Harley Quinn Smith, Method Man, and Sam Richardson, who should be in everything.

“The day we bought Smodcastle Cinemas,” Smith said in a statement, referring to the renovated theater he owns in New Jersey, “I not only reclaimed an integral piece of my childhood, I also suddenly had access to a visually interesting and cost-free movie location! So I started writing a personal paean to the past for us 70’s and 80’s kids – the pre-information generation who grew up without the internet, when romance and relationships required much more than a swipe to get started, and the idea of asking out someone you had a crush on was as terrifying as the looming threat of nuclear war.”

Kevin Smith will take The 4:30 Movie on a multi-city tour this summer before it hits nationwide theaters

Formerly enslaved man’s response to his ‘master’ wanting him back is a literary masterpiece

In 1825, at the approximate age of 8, Jordan Anderson (sometimes spelled “Jordon”) was sold into slavery and would live as a servant of the Anderson family for 39 years. In 1864, the Union Army camped out on the Anderson plantation and he and his wife, Amanda, were liberated. The couple eventually made it safely to Dayton, Ohio, where, in July 1865, Jordan received a letter from his former owner, Colonel P.H. Anderson. The letter kindly asked Jordan to return to work on the plantation because it had fallen into disarray during the war.

On Aug. 7, 1865, Jordan dictated his response through his new boss, Valentine Winters, and it was published in the Cincinnati Commercial. The letter, entitled “Letter from a Freedman to His Old Master,” was not only hilarious, but it showed compassion, defiance, and dignity. That year, the letter would be republished in the New York Daily Tribune and Lydia Marie Child’s “The Freedman’s Book.”

The letter mentions a “Miss Mary” (Col. Anderson’s Wife), “Martha” (Col. Anderson’s daughter), Henry (most likely Col. Anderson’s son), and George Carter (a local carpenter).

Dayton, Ohio,
August 7, 1865
To My Old Master, Colonel P.H. Anderson, Big Spring, Tennessee

Sir: I got your letter, and was glad to find that you had not forgotten Jordon, and that you wanted me to come back and live with you again, promising to do better for me than anybody else can. I have often felt uneasy about you. I thought the Yankees would have hung you long before this, for harboring Rebs they found at your house. I suppose they never heard about your going to Colonel Martin’s to kill the Union soldier that was left by his company in their stable. Although you shot at me twice before I left you, I did not want to hear of your being hurt, and am glad you are still living. It would do me good to go back to the dear old home again, and see Miss Mary and Miss Martha and Allen, Esther, Green, and Lee. Give my love to them all, and tell them I hope we will meet in the better world, if not in this. I would have gone back to see you all when I was working in the Nashville Hospital, but one of the neighbors told me that Henry intended to shoot me if he ever got a chance.

I want to know particularly what the good chance is you propose to give me. I am doing tolerably well here. I get twenty-five dollars a month, with victuals and clothing; have a comfortable home for Mandy, — the folks call her Mrs. Anderson, — and the children — Milly, Jane, and Grundy — go to school and are learning well. The teacher says Grundy has a head for a preacher. They go to Sunday school, and Mandy and me attend church regularly. We are kindly treated. Sometimes we overhear others saying, “Them colored people were slaves” down in Tennessee. The children feel hurt when they hear such remarks; but I tell them it was no disgrace in Tennessee to belong to Colonel Anderson. Many darkeys would have been proud, as I used to be, to call you master. Now if you will write and say what wages you will give me, I will be better able to decide whether it would be to my advantage to move back again.

As to my freedom, which you say I can have, there is nothing to be gained on that score, as I got my free papers in 1864 from the Provost-Marshal-General of the Department of Nashville. Mandy says she would be afraid to go back without some proof that you were disposed to treat us justly and kindly; and we have concluded to test your sincerity by asking you to send us our wages for the time we served you. This will make us forget and forgive old scores, and rely on your justice and friendship in the future. I served you faithfully for thirty-two years, and Mandy twenty years. At twenty-five dollars a month for me, and two dollars a week for Mandy, our earnings would amount to eleven thousand six hundred and eighty dollars. Add to this the interest for the time our wages have been kept back, and deduct what you paid for our clothing, and three doctor’s visits to me, and pulling a tooth for Mandy, and the balance will show what we are in justice entitled to. Please send the money by Adams’s Express, in care of V. Winters, Esq., Dayton, Ohio. If you fail to pay us for faithful labors in the past, we can have little faith in your promises in the future. We trust the good Maker has opened your eyes to the wrongs which you and your fathers have done to me and my fathers, in making us toil for you for generations without recompense. Here I draw my wages every Saturday night; but in Tennessee there was never any pay-day for the negroes any more than for the horses and cows. Surely there will be a day of reckoning for those who defraud the laborer of his hire.

In answering this letter, please state if there would be any safety for my Milly and Jane, who are now grown up, and both good-looking girls. You know how it was with poor Matilda and Catherine. I would rather stay here and starve — and die, if it come to that — than have my girls brought to shame by the violence and wickedness of their young masters. You will also please state if there has been any schools opened for the colored children in your neighborhood. The great desire of my life now is to give my children an education, and have them form virtuous habits.

Say howdy to George Carter, and thank him for taking the pistol from you when you were shooting at me.

From your old servant,
Jordon Anderson

A 9-year-old goes in on standardized tests and ends with the best mic drop of all time.

If you need proof standardized testing is setting students up for failure, just ask the students.

Sydney Smoot has a bone to pick with the Hernando County School Board. The issue? The Florida Standards Assessment Test, or FSA for short. On March 17, 2015, Sydney bravely stood up at her local school board meeting to share how she felt about the test and why she believes it’s failing students and teachers.

“This testing looks at me as a number. One test defines me as either a failure or a success through a numbered rubric. One test at the end of the year that the teacher or myself will not even see the grade until after the school year is already over. I do not feel that all this FSA testing is accurate to tell how successful I am. It doesn’t take in account all of my knowledge and abilities, just a small percentage.” — Sydney Smoot

Can we give this little girl a medal? She was speaking right to my soul with that speech!

I reached out to Sydney and her mom, Jennifer, via email to find out more about what prompted this passionate speech.

What inspired you to write your letter?

“What inspired me to speak all started one day when I came home. My mom asked me how the testing went, and I told her I was told not to speak about the test to anyone. I had not felt comfortable signing something in the test. I had concerns about this test because there was a lot of stress put on students and myself. I was a little nervous before the speech, but when I was called up to the podium, I did not feel nervous because I knew this speech was going to help a lot of people.”

Have you ever thought about running for president? Cause I’d vote for you!

“I’ve thought about running for president because if I’m president, I will be considerate about the people in this state.”

You gotta admit, she looks pretty good up there, right?

Parents have a right to be concerned about standardize testing regulations.

One thing that really stuck out to me in Sydney’s speech was that the FSA prohibits students from talking to their parents about the test. So I was anxious to hear what Sydney’s mom thought about the stipulation. She had this to say:

“When my daughter came home telling me she had to sign a form stating she couldn’t talk to anyone including her parents, I got concerned. Not only that I didn’t like the fact that the last four of her Social Security number was on the test labels along with other personal information. In today’s world of identity theft, it doesn’t take much for people to get a hold of these things and use them.

I would like to tell other parents to learn more before these tests start in your children’s school and know what they are testing. They have options, you can opt out so to speak, and the child can complete alternative testing if they are in the retention grades; or, if the child wants to take the test, support them and let them know that no matter how they do, it does not define them as a person.

It’s a test and a poorly designed one at best.”

Standardized tests are changing the classroom. And not for the better.

As Sydney shared in her speech, she and her classmates are feeling the pressure when it comes to preparing for the FSA. But they aren’t the only ones. Teachers are also struggling to get students ready and are often forced to cut corners as a result.

What standardized tests also fail to take into account is that in many ways, test-taking is a skill, one that not every student is ready for. When I was in school, we spent months gearing up for the dreaded FCAT, the Florida Comprehensive Assessment Test. And if months of test prep wasn’t bad enough, if you didn’t pass the FCAT, you couldn’t graduate high school. Talk about stressful! The pressure of your high school career rides on one test, combined with the fact that standardized tests don’t accurately measure what students have learned. Plenty of capable students fail these tests due to increased anxiety and stress. If high school students are struggling to handle the pressure of standardized testing, imagine how difficult it must be for elementary school students like Sydney!

Young Sydney is a testament to how important it is that we listen to students and create curriculum that challenges and educates them, rather than scaring them into “learning.” I think Sydney’s suggestion of three comprehensive tests throughout the year makes way more sense than one big statewide test that interferes with teachers’ schedules and stresses students out. And let’s be real, when’s the last time you heard a kid ask for MORE tests?! Clearly standardized tests aren’t the answer or at least need some serious work. Hopefully Sydney’s message will make an impact and get her school board and schools across the nation to rethink how we measure students’ success.
