Doechii is not only one of the most exciting rappers out there today. The Grammy winner is also very stylish, and while headlining California’s Frost Fest 2025 over the weekend, she wore a button-adorned outfit designed by a fan.
The journey began in February, when a talented designer who goes by Handsomegirly on social media wrote, “Hello I made the most beautiful matching set with matching headband.” As someone in the replies accurately put it: “this fit hard asf wtf.” In a follow-up post, Handsomegirly shared that “it’s a dream of mine for doechii to wear my set.”
That dream came true.
Following the Frost Fest set, Doechii wrote on X, “Stanford show fit by @handsomegirly_! It came out so cute babes ty.” She even had matching button nails from @allhailthynail. On Instagram, Handsomegirly wrote, “Is this a dream? Ty @just__demetrie for helping me complete this for doe!”
Previously, Doechii discussed her sense of style in an interview with Dazed, saying, “It just depends on where I am in my life. I’ll never pinpoint myself. I’ll never lock myself down to one particular style. It’s not me. It never will be me. I find it so depressing to feel like you have to dress one way, but I also admire people who can consistently stay in a bag.”
You can see the Frost Fest fit here, and be sure to follow Handsomegirly.
Keeping up with new music can be exhausting, even impossible. From the weekly album releases to standalone singles dropping on a daily basis, the amount of music is so vast it’s easy for something to slip through the cracks. Even following along with the Uproxx recommendations on a daily basis can be a lot to ask, so every Monday we’re offering up this rundown of the best new music this week.
This week saw Lana Del Rey launch her country era and Bon Iver deliver a discography highlight. Yeah, it was a great week for new music. Check out the highlights below.
Del Rey has been teasing a country album for a little while now, and we have a couple updates: It’s called The Right Person Will Stay (it had previously been referred to as Lasso), and there’s a new song, “Henry, Come On.” Del Rey previously said she doesn’t see the project as a “heavy departure” for her stylistically, and “Henry, Come On” is supporting evidence.
Bon Iver — “There’s A Rhythmn”
Justin Vernon may or may not have fathered a child with Cristin Milioti (emphasis on “not”), but what he definitely did do is release a new Bon Iver album, SABLE, fABLE. Uproxx cultural critic Steven Hyden reckons it’s “one of their best.”
Shaboozey and Myles Smith — “Blink Twice”
“A Bar Song (Tipsy)” is one of the two biggest songs of all time (in weeks spent at No. 1 on the Hot 100), but Shaboozey isn’t done yet. Last week, he teamed up with Myles Smith on “Blink Twice,” another shot of boot-stomping country.
Quavo and Lil Baby — “Legends”
After a spell of genre tourism, Quavo is back in his trap bag. He linked up with Lil Baby for “Legends” last week and the song offers a menacing beat atop which the rappers get some bragging in.
Turnstile — “Never Enough”
Synths aren’t exactly a calling card for hardcore punk band Turnstile, but that doesn’t mean they don’t know how to use them. Their latest single, “Never Enough,” sounds downright peaceful for the first minute-plus, and then the heavy guitars we’ve come to know and love arrive.
Ken Carson — “Off The Meter” Feat. Playboi Carti and Destroy Lonely
Carson’s More Chaos is one of the headlining album releases of the pre-Coachella week, and perhaps the most notable track is “Off The Meter.” On it, Carson calls on Playboi Carti and Destroy Lonely to come through to rap about giving in to vices.
Aminé — “Arc de Triomphe”
Aminé has 13 Months Of Sunshine on the way next month, and the latest taste is “Arc de Triomphe.” The track sees Aminé delivering some fun wordplay over a bouncy beat.
Sheck Wes — “ILMB” Feat. Travis Scott
Wes, in case you didn’t know, loves his b*tch (that’s what the title of “ILMB” stands for: “I Love My B*tch”). The track is a woozy ode to a special somebody, featuring Wes’ Cactus Jack boss Travis Scott.
Rema — “Bout U”
Afrobeats star Rema is hitting one of the biggest stages of his career this weekend when he makes his Coachella debut. He’ll have a new song for the California crowd, too, as he just dropped the slinky single “Bout U.”
Jessie Murph — “Blue Strips”
Murph is among a new wave of artists folding outside influences into country, and really, last week’s “Blue Strips” really isn’t that country at all. Instead, it sees Murph singing over a trap-inspired instrumental, with the only noticeable twang coming from her vocals.
Drake has been on a productive streak over the past few years: He released Certified Lover Boy in 2021, Her Loss with 21 Savage and Honestly, Nevermind in 2022, For All The Dogs in 2023, and Some Sexy Songs 4 U with PartyNextDoor a couple months ago. (These projects produced some year-defining moments.) He’s not stopping, either, as he revealed he has yet another new album on the way.
While streaming with Adin Ross over the weekend (as HotNewHipHop notes), Drake said (here’s the clip), “Working on a new album right now. It’s… it slaps.” A surprised Ross then asked if it’s a solo album, and Drake confirmed that it is.
It looks like Justin Bieber won’t appear on the project: A few days ago, Bieber put out a call for collaborators, and Drake commented on the post, “I DM’d but no reply.”
Meanwhile, Drake recently shared a Michael Jordan story, saying, “I think I remember it was All-Star Weekend [in] Toronto [in 2016], and he had an event to be at. I beat him at ping-pong, like, a couple times, and he just wouldn’t leave the ping-pong table. He kept just betting me, like, bands. 10 bands, 20 bands. Just kept betting because he just couldn’t stomach the loss, you know?”

If Addison Rae hasn’t won you over yet, she will by June 6. That’s the day her new album comes out, as she revealed in a very, ahem, cheeky way at Coachella. The “High Fashion” singer was a surprise guest during Arca’s performance over the weekend. After performing “Aquamarine / Arcamarine,” Rae turned around to reveal the words “June 6th” written on her underwear.
The title and tracklist for the album have yet to be released.
Last year, Rae spoke to Rolling Stone about how Charli XCX (who also played Coachella) encouraged and inspired her. “[Charli] respected me and my ideas,” she said. “It was the first time I really took the step on my own to be confident in the ideas I had and follow that. I owe that all to Charli.”
The “Von Dutch” singer has referred to Rae (who she enlisted for Brat And It’s Completely Different But Also Still Brat) as a “f*cking genius,” while Rosalía called her “the absolute project manager of her work and has a very clear vision of what she’s creating,” adding, “Her choreographies seem so beautiful to me. I love how she brings the 2000s American pop star back to these days.”
Post Malone’s pivot into country music has been a success, as his first album in the genre, 2024’s F-1 Trillion, was a No. 1 hit, and he also landed a chart-topping single with the Morgan Wallen collaboration “I Had Some Help.”
Well, there’s good news for fans of Posty’s new era: He has a new country album in the works, as he confirmed with Billboard.
He noted that he’s made two trips to Nashville to work on the project with collaborators like Ernest, Hardy, and Thomas Rhett, saying, “We just have fun. We just sit and f*cking talk and make songs. And so I’m pretty excited for the new record already.” Malone also said he’s “made probably 35 songs; it’s just a matter of which ones rock and which ones sock.”
He revealed that his band has already done some recording “and they’re f*cking killing it,” continuing, “I sit there and listen to these songs, and I usually hate listening to my music, but listening to the band play, I get so excited.”
Malone also said of his albums Twelve Carat Toothache and Austin, and how they relate to his newer material:
“[They weren’t] really… I don’t want to say not well received, but, you know, it was something that I had to do. We just slowed everything down and that’s kind of what I was going through at that point. And [F-1 Trillion] was just f*cking b*tching. It was so fun to make. And I said in an interview a while ago, ‘When I’m 30 years old, I’m gonna make a country record.’ And I made it at 29, so I wasn’t too far off. But you know, it just happened naturally. I was like, ‘F*ck it, let’s go to Nashville. Let’s give it a go.’ I think finally bringing the fun back into what I was doing really showed on the record. And I think a lot of folks had fun listening to it. And we’re going to attempt to do it again. I’m excited to keep going.”
The first trailer for Ari Aster’s new movie Eddington is here.
The A24 film takes place during the early days of the COVID-19 pandemic, May 2020. It follows a standoff between a small-town sheriff (played Joaquin Phoenix) and mayor (Pedro Pascal), which pits neighbor against neighbor in Eddington, New Mexico. The teaser, which you can watch above, establishes the plot by having Phoenix’s character aimlessly doomscrolling through Instagram in the middle of the night. Relatable!
Eddington is Aster and Phoenix’s second movie together, after 2023’s misunderstood Beau Is Afraid. But it’s another Oscar nominee’s introduction to the Ari-verse. “I don’t want to give much away as far as the story and character go, but it was a wild adventure that I got to go on,” Austin Butler told The Hollywood Reporter about the film. “I got to play a character who’s very different from anything that I’ve done.”
He continued, “Ari and I have been friends for a little bit, and it was great to see him on set. He is such an incredible filmmaker, and he has such confidence and such a sense of humor and wild imagination. I truly loved working with him.”
Eddington, which also stars Emma Stone, Luke Grimes, Deirdre O’Connell, Micheal Ward, Clifton Collins Jr., William Belleau, Cameron Mann, Matt Gomez Hidaka, and Amélie Hoeferle, opens in theaters on July 18.
Meg was one of the final performers yesterday (April 13), but she wasn’t the only one on stage at the time, as she peppered guests throughout her set. A few songs in, she welcomed Spiritbox singer Courtney LaPlante to perform their collaboration “TYG.” Elsewhere, she also did multiple songs with Queen Latifah, Ciara, and Victoria Monét.
As Rolling Stone notes, Megan also overcame a technical issue during the set: Something went wrong with her microphone, but ultimately, the issue was quickly fixed and Meg continued, unfazed.
Check out Megan’s full first-weekend Coachella setlist (via setlist.fm) below.
A new era of Lizzo has arrived. So, yesterday (April 13) during the “Pink (Bad Day)” singer’s appearance on Saturday Night Live Lizzo released something from her music vault.
To close out her stint as SNL’s musical guest, Lizzo debuted a new song, “Don’t Make Me Love You,” which could be her next Love In Real Life single. On the heartfelt ballad Lizzo demands that her emotional investment into her lover be properly honored.
“Oh, here we go / You’re playing with me feelings, you’re playing with my soul / But I can’t let you go / I just wanna be wanted and feel beautiful / You better know what you want / If it ain’t me / Don’t make me love you / Don’t make my heart beat outta my chest,” she sang.
Although Lizzo is known for her pop bangers, “Don’t Make Me Love You” leans more soft rock, which is fitting as the track’s melody immediately pulled in sonic comparisons to the late Tina Turner’s “Simply The Best.”
Lizzo has not announced her forthcoming album’s expected release date. But Lizzo’s SNL track premiere suggests it could be revealed soon.

Lizzo went full rock star For her first performance as the late night show’s musical guest. The live medley of singles “Love In Real Life” and “Still Bad,” proved that Lizzo has everything necessary to transition into the genre.
But instead of focusing on her musical prowess, Lizzo sneak in several subtle nods to other Black music icons across sonic spaces. Opening the set with background singers coordinated in the Black Liberation Flag color scheme, Lizzo ensured the unifying message was loud and clear. With a decked out custom electronic guitar strapped to her chest and a pronounced perfectly fluffed afro, Lizzo seemed to pay tribute to two late musicians–Betty Davis and Jimi Hendrix. As Lizzo’s distressed fishnet tights delivered flashback to the late Tina Turner.
