Vince Gilligan Is Teasing The First Details Of His New Show With His ‘Better Call Saul’ Star Rhea Seehorn

It’s been a year since Better Call Saul wrapped up its chicanery, and all eyes are on creator Vince Gilligan to deliver another award-winning series, though this time, without all of the drugs and stuff. His next series will be for AppleTV+, and while details are slim we know one thing: it stars Rhea Seehorn. And that was enough for Apple to order it without knowing much else!

Gilligan told Variety that the series is heading back into production this week. Now that they are back on track, he can reveal a bit about the new show, which is a major departure from the Breaking Bad universe. Gilligan explained, “I wouldn’t call this heavy science fiction, I would call it mild science fiction. But it does have a sci-fi element to it, at its core. And there’s no crime, and no methamphetamine. It’s going to be fun and different,” he explained. Can we really have fun without crime?

The series itself is pretty under wraps at the moment, though Gilligan gave an ominous description. “The world changes very abruptly in the first episode, and then it is quite different. It’s the modern world — the world we live in — but it changes very abruptly. And the consequences that that reaps hopefully provide drama for many, many episodes after that.” Could this be an alien invasion scenario? Or perhaps a time jump?? Will Rhea Seahorn finally get to deliver an earth-shattering, Emmy award-winning monologue while destroying some aliens? Only time will tell us. Cause Gilligan sure won’t.

While he didn’t give away much info on Seehorn’s new role, Gilligan added, “Rhea will be playing a very different character than she played on Saul. The weird thing is that it takes place in Albuquerque, except it’s a whole different world. There’s no overlap that I can see. She’s playing a character who is not Kim Wexler, but hopefully people will roll with that. I’m nervous. It’ll be interesting to see how folks react to it.” However they react, it has to be better than whatever Kim had been up to in the later years. That was some bleak stuff.

‘Wheel Of Fortune’ Made An Unfortunate Mistake In A Week Dedicated To Teachers And, Yup, A Bunch Of Viewers Noticed

Wheel of Fortune is falling apart without Vanna White.

The game show’s co-host, who recently renewed her contract through the 2025-2026 season, is off this week after she tested positive for COVID. “You’ll notice Vanna is not here, and I have to say that Ms. White has tested positive for COVID. That’s the bad news,” co-host Pat Sajak during Monday’s episode, which was taped back in August. “The good news is I talked to her just a little while ago and she feels fine. She has a little sniffle. But she tested positive and that’s the way it goes, so she will not be with us here this week.”

It’s not White’s responsibility to look out for grammar mistakes, but I still bet she would have caught this unfortunate typo.

If Wheel of Fortune was celebrating one teacher, then Teacher’s Week would be correct. But because this run of episodes is dedicated to all teachers, it should be Teachers’ Week.

(A case has been made for “Teacher’s Week” using the justification that it’s Mother’s Day, not Mothers’ Day. But that day is dedicated to a specific mother: yours. The chances are slim that you’re rooting for your seventh grade teacher on Wheel; you’re cheering for every teacher. Except for the one teacher contestant who spins the wheel too slowly. Screw them.)

The typo was noticed by TV Insider and numerous viewers, including X user @tom_sanidas, who wondered, “BTW, should it not be Teachers’ Week? Unless I’m missing the ONE teacher with a week…” Here’s a thought: maybe this is Wheel of Fortune‘s subtle way of showing why teachers are important? “Without teachers, you would make silly mistakes like this.” You won’t find me making a grammatical error, though. Never. It’s unpossible.

Jason Derulo Is Named In A ‘Quid Pro Quo Sexual Harassment’ Lawsuit Filed By His Former Signee

Jason Derulo has been named in a lawsuit filed by 25-year-old Emaza Gibson in Los Angeles County Superior Court, according to an NBC News report from Thursday, October 5.

The report specifies, “Gibson alleges that Derulo, 34, the ‘Whatcha Say’ singer, turned cold after she rejected his sexual advances and repeated invitations to dine and drink alcohol and that he eventually dropped her deal altogether. She accuses Derulo of quid pro quo sexual harassment.”

The lawsuit also alleges sexual harassment, retaliation, breach of contract, a failure to remedy workplace harassment, and violation of California’s civil rights act against Derulo, his Future History imprint, and Atlantic Records.

NBC News exclusively interviewed Gibson, who said she was approached by Derulo in August 2021 to sign as a solo artist to his imprint Future History’s joint venture with Atlantic Records. Gibson recalled several instances of Derulo allegedly pressuring her to drink with him — in both professional and social environments — in late 2021 despite her telling him that she “wasn’t a drinker.”

“The suit alleges Derulo responded by telling Gibson she might have to take part in ‘goat skin and fish scales,’” NBC News relays. “Gibson told NBC News that she was aware that ‘fish scales’ referred to a strain of cocaine but that she had to look up what Derulo meant by doing ‘goat skin.’”

The report continues, “Gibson said she learned from online articles about rituals involving sex, goat sacrifices and blood that appeared to be what Derulo was talking about. […] The lawsuit states that Gibson considered Derulo’s statement an ‘explicit demand for sex-in-exchange-for-success’ that was reinforced by other behavior, such as repeated pressure to go out with him and the scheduling of late-night studio sessions.”

The lengthy report additionally notes that Gibson last saw Derulo in June 2022, when he “charged at Gibson in front of her mother, [his] own staff, a videographer, and Gibson’s engineer,” which came after Derulo was allegedly neglecting to support Gibson with proper guidance and resources for her music and thus complicating her ability to meet her contract demands.

According to the lawsuit cited by NBC News, Gibson was dropped by Atlantic and Future History in September 2022. Gibson and her mother, Sandra Bales, stated that their attempts to contact Atlantic’s human resources department regarding Derulo’s “sexually, emotionally and physically inappropriate behavior” went unacknowledged.

NBC News had requested comment from representatives for Derulo and Altantic Records, but neither party responded by the time of this writing. Frank Harris, Derulo’s manager, is also a defendant in Gibson’s lawsuit.

Jason Derulo is a Warner Music artist. Uproxx is an independent subsidiary of Warner Music Group.

A Quentin Tarantino Flick Happens To Be One Of Trump’s Favorite All-Time Movies — Wait, What?

Out of all the former Trump White House staffers who have delivered memoirs, Cassidy Hutchinson’s Enough might be producing the most entertaining interviews. She seemingly holds an endless fount of embarrassing examples to share with the world, including how the ex-president would sneak a “real” lunch after pretending to eat a small meal during midday meetings. Hutchinson also revealed how fallen MyPillow guru Mike Lindell was allowed to freely roam the White House and how Rudy Giuliani allegedly groped her with “frozen fingers,” but she isn’t done yet. During a visit with Jimmy Kimmel, she elaborated upon Trump throwing food at walls and also, surprisingly, the kind of movies that he watches.

Around 9:45 in the above video, Kimmel asked Hutchinson to elaborate what she had witnessed while working alongside Matt Gaetz (who she previously shut down over his claims of a romance) and Kevin McCarthy, and she was happy to oblige. She began to relate a tale while mentioning how “I finished watching a movie with the president in the cabin” at a golf course. Quick on the draw, Kimmel wanted to know what movie this happened to be, and Hutchinson revealed, Once Upon A Time In Hollywood.

Mutual laughter ensued, and Kimmel wanted to know, “Did he like it?” To which Hutchinson responded, “It’s one of his favorites.” Kimmel offered up, “Well, Quentin Tarantino will be thrilled.” To which Hutchinson wondered, “Will he?”

This, of course, presents some questions, including, “Is Trump a feet guy?” And also, “Did Trump realize that the aftermath of Cliff’s acid cigarette saw him take out goons whose beliefs are not unlike some far-right MAGA members?” Surely not.

Following this Tarantino revelation, Hutchinson relayed how Kevin McCarthy kicked Matt Gaetz out of a cabin, and Kimmel responded, “And then Matt Gaetz got him kicked him out of the House.” Politics is still wild, man.

Did 21 Savage Get A Green Card?

For some years, 21 Savage has been locked in an immigration dispute that has made his career more difficult. During his recent tour with Drake, he missed two Canadian dates, including Drake’s hometown Toronto show and the stop in Vancouver. He was replaced on these stops by J. Cole and Travis Scott, respectively, but surely, there were fans who wish they could have seen the Atlanta rapper, especially in the wake of his joint album with Drake, Her Loss.

However, according to a line on Drake’s newest song, Savage’s immigration struggles could soon be coming to an end — or at least, getting easier.

Did 21 Savage Get A Green Card?

In Drake’s new song “8AM In Charlotte,” the superstar raps, “Savage got a green card straight out of the consulate / Where I go, you go, brother, we Yugoslavian.” Tortured pun aside, this would seem to confirm that 21’s immigration status has been confirmed and that he’s got permission to stay in the US. While TMZ has interpreted this to mean the case is closed, though, it’ll probably be best to wait until official confirmation comes straight from the horse’s mouth.

However, we should be finding out soon; Drake and 21’s tour is set to return to Toronto this weekend, according to TMZ, so if Savage does have license to exit the country (and return, which was always the real problem), then fans in Drake’s hometown should be treated to songs like “A Lot,” “X,” and “Bank Account,” as well as the full Drake set featuring their collaborations such as as “Jimmy Cooks,” “Knife Talk,” and “Rich Flex.”

For background: 21 Savage’s immigration troubles stem from a 2019 arrest which left him in ICE detention as the result of an expired visa. It turned out that Savage, who was born in London, was brought to the US as a child but his visa expired when he was just 13 years old. Although he was in the process of applying for a new one, his case was delayed by some criminal charges against him as well as the COVID-19 pandemic.

If he really does have Permanent Resident Card (the so-called “green card”), it would mean he could tour abroad with no fear of being barred reentry into the United States — a fate that befell fellow UK immigrants Slick Rick and MF DOOM — and mean he would be able to pursue new performance opportunities befitting his stature in hip-hop. This is one time we hope Drake’s right — we’ll even forgive that atrocious dad joke of a punchline.

Jorja Smith’s Soaring ‘Falling Or Flying’ Album Finds Value In The Unknown

The RX is Uproxx Music’s stamp of approval for the best albums, songs, and music stories throughout the year. Inclusion in this category is the highest distinction we can bestow, and signals the most important music being released throughout the year. The RX is the music you need, right now.

Falling Or Flying, the title of Jorja Smith’s second album, somewhat recalls a record from her 2021 EP Be Right Back. “Burn” speaks of the gradual but damaging progression of burnout that any of us can experience. Jorja sings with the tenderness of a candle’s flame and with the urgency of one who sees that the candle’s wax is moments away from running out, which would ultimately kill the adored flame. “You let yourself burn, you burn yourself out,” she sings. “There she goes, she is fallin’ down.” Here, the concept of “falling” is attached to exhaustion and deprivation, but Falling Or Flying shines a more optimistic light on it.

Jorja Smith excels on her long-awaited sophomore album by taking the split second between “falling” and “flying,” and making an entire world of it. It’s the extremely brief moment where the unknown is about to become known. There’s a serene beauty behind this ignorance that allows Jorja to take things in strides regardless of if she crashes to the ground or soars through the sky. “Little Things” is a perfect example of this as Jorja dances to joyful keys and a funky bass all while proposing a nighttime getaway to a new love interest. She’s yet to receive a “yes” or “no,” but the wait for it is far from grueling as she will just dance the night away in the meantime.

This concept of “falling or flying” is far more accepting of the world than its combative cousin “fight or flight.” Yet, as an artist who is five years and an EP removed from her debut album Lost & Found, Jorja honed in on this combative spirit as there is plenty to prove on Falling Or Flying. The album begins with “Try Me,” a track steered by daring drums that amplify Jorja’s challenge to critics to be open to her and correctly define her changed self. “She Feels” is on a determined mission to leave places where she’s mistreated and head to where she’s valued. “Go Go Go” sticks to her guns as a woman in favor of one-night intimacy over a longtime relationship. Though outsiders will lay their claim on whether she will fall or fly as a result of this album, Jorja’s fight proves at the very least that she makes it through the battle, scarred or not, if proves to be tougher than expected. At best, the singer has everything needed to win her fight by a great margin.

It’s hard to not complete a listen of Falling Or Flying and not reach the conclusion that Jorja absolutely soared above the noise through its 16 songs. Some of the singer’s best songs live on the album. “Falling Or Flying” starts as a declaration of what love can and can’t be over scantly funky production before exploding into a poppy and dazzling showcase of vulnerability where she confesses that the end result of this love is the least of her worries. The album’s closer, “What If My Heart Beats Faster?” is the brutal realization that her current relationship is not the perfect fit and the attempt to break free from what doesn’t serve her. Lastly, in what is the album’s best song, “Greatest Gift” with Lila Iké offers the genuine appreciation to a lover who couldn’t any more perfect for her along with the commitment to be everything and more for them as they are that for her. From start to finish on Falling Or Flying, Jorja Smith makes love feel like the greatest superpower and something you’re lucky to have work in your favor while it’s also capable of causing irreversible damage if it’s not on your side.

Jorja Smith found her wings on Falling Or Flying, and with them, she flies with captivating grace more times than not through the 16 songs on her second album. In comparison to her debut, Falling Or Flying feels a bit lighter as its overall construction – which wasn’t too bad – was stripped down to make it easier for the singer to stand out in her airborne moments. The best thing about this album is that we see Jorja arrive at the conclusion everything will be okay and she is doing just fine. The appreciation of the spectacle split-second moment that is the unknown between falling or flying is worth whatever ending is destined for her. Whether she falls or flies through love or falls or flies in her career, all that matters to Jorja Smith is the moment she’s off her feet and ensuring that it’s not the last time she experiences it.

Whoopi Goldberg Went Off On Rachel Bilson For Judging Men’s Sexual History: ‘Why Are You B*tching?’

Thanks to the launch of her podcast, Rachel Bilson has been an open book when it comes to her sex life. While most of her anecdotes have been wildly entertaining, Bilson’s latest comments on the sexual history of her partners did not sit well with Whoopi Goldberg.

On the most recent episode of Broad Ideas, Bilson revealed that she prefers men who have long list of sexual partners.

“If it’s really low, at this day and age, you’d be like, ‘It’s a little weird,’” Bilson said. “This is going to sound so judgmental, but if a dude’s, like, in his 40s and he’s, like, slept with, like, four women. But it all depends. Maybe he’s been in, like, decade[-long] relationships.”

While Bilson later walked back her remarks and said it’s not “fair” to make that kind of judgment, the damage was already done. During Thursday’s episode of The View, Goldberg tore into The O.C. actress for criticizing the sexual history of men.

Via Entertainment Weekly:

“I’m sorry, I think it’s very odd that you’re concerned that he’s had sexual partners — any sexual partners. Why is it your business?” the 67-year-old cohost said during a Hot Topics segment on the issue. “Listen, men, traditionally, were taught to have many sexually partners. That’s how it was. Men could go and do whatever they wanted to do, and women were not supposed to. Now that has been shifting, and young women have been bitching about, you know, ‘Why are you telling me what I should be [doing?]’ Now, it’s happening, and you’re mad. I don’t understand.”

Goldberg got heated again by pointedly asking Bilson, “If he’s happy with you and you’re having a good time, why are you bitching?”

Never one to miss out on a good sex chat (Although, this one had a notable lack of ghosts.) Joy Behar jumped in with her thoughts.

“If just one out of the four could locate my G-spot, I’m all in,” Behar said. “I don’t need thousands of them. Get me one good one. Right, ladies?”

Tems Aims To Discover Her True Self On The Buoyant ‘Me & U,’ Her First New Song In Two Years

Tems is a credited co-writer on Rihanna’s “Lift Me Up,” arriving last October for the Black Panther: Wakanda Forever soundtrack and earning Tems an Oscar nomination at this year’s ceremony. Still, Tems hadn’t released solo material since her 2021 EP If Orange Was A Place. That finally changed on Thursday morning, October 5, with “Me & U.” Tems gifted her patient fans with an accompanying video, directed by her.

“FIRST SINGLE IN TWO YEARS!” Tems posted across her social media profiles. “‘ME & U’ OUT EVERYWHERE So incredibly grateful for all your support! LET’S GO [Earth emoji, dove emoji, star emoji].”

In the video, Tems is found by the ocean. The serene environment is contrasted by Tems’ intense emotion. “This is my decision,” she sings. “I don’t think you listen, you listen / I don’t think you listen.” She asks to “give me something” in return because “I love you,” and “I don’t need nothing, you are my everything.” She dances in the water, atop a cliff, and at a gathering in the woods at night.

At one point, Tems is alone in a castle-like room, sitting in the middle of a circle of lit candles. She sings, “Make me your matter, make me your matter, make me your matter / Show me your substance, make me your person, make me your person /Give me one break, I need faith / Faith to believe you, faith to receive you / Give me something I’m lacking.”

By the video’s end, Tems illustrates her relinquishing of control by sprinting in the dark and falling backward into the ocean.

“Me & U” and its video — and the two-year gap between Tems’ singles — speak to something Tems told Kendrick Lamar for Interview Magazine this June (published in August), when Lamar asked whether she feels “pressure to conform to what people may expect” from her.

“Yeah, you have to remember how you felt when you started as an artist, to understand the reason you’re doing what you’re doing,” she said. “Yes, it’s to be seen, or to make a name for yourself, but beyond that, why are you doing it? Most of the time it’s because you have a story to share, a message to give. When you become more known or seen, it’s very easy to get caught up in, ‘What do people expect of me now?’ But for me, it’s like, ‘What do I expect of myself now?’ Because you’re the one that has to live with yourself, the one that has to sleep with the decisions that you make.”

The Grammy winner continued, “Trusting yourself is so key, and I’m not going to stop trusting my guts just because people can see me now. It’s like being in a zoo. The animals don’t change their behavior just because you’re looking at them. They’re always going to be who they are. So why should I change?”

Kim Kardashian Looked Back On The Time She ‘Blacked Out’ While Partying With Beyoncé

Kim Kardashian recently tried beer for the first time (or so she claims), but she’s not new to liquor. On the latest episode of Hulu’s The Kardashians, the SKIMS founder revealed she once “blacked out” while partying with Beyoncé.

“I’m definitely still a lightweight. I’ll have, like, two shots, and I’ll be wasted and it’s so much fun. I’ll be dancing on the dance floor,” she said. “Seriously, I know you guys don’t believe me — ask Beyoncé! I danced all night long at her party, I think I blacked out.” Kardashian “woke up to so many text messages, and I was like, ‘Khloé, what did I do?’ She’s like, ‘You were dropping it low and dancing,’ and I was like, ‘Nooo!’ I danced all night long and had no idea.”

InStyle did important journalism about when the dancing may have occured:

It’s unclear which Beyoncé party Kim was referring to, but if we had to guess it was the singer’s 41st birthday bash last year. And the timeline adds up. Back in 2022, Kardashian admitted that she had begun drinking again after abstaining from alcohol for years. “I started to drink a little bit at the age of 42. Coffee and alcohol,” she told Gwyneth Paltrow on her Goop podcast in December. “I feel like I just gotta let loose a little bit.”

If drinking too many Miller Lites while watching Austin Powers in Goldmember counts, then I, too, have gotten blackout drunk while partying with Beyoncé.
