‘Slow Horses’ Might Be The Most Bingeable TV Show In The World

SLOW
APPLE

The biggest problem with Slow Horses is the title. It just doesn’t sound exciting. It sounds like the title of a boring eight-part documentary about a ranch owner from the 1920s, or the title of a movie about a thoroughbred breeder who is in too deep to the mob and is trying to race his way out of it but is just outrageously bad at his job, which, now that I type it out, actually doesn’t sound too bad. Stephen Root would be involved somehow, maybe as a lawyer or scummy track owner, definitely with a thin little mustache. Either way, the important thing is that Slow Horses — the real show, not the made-up one I’m still talking myself into — is kind of a blast.

Background, quickly: Slow Horses is a spy show on Apple TV that just wrapped up its third season, with a fourth and fifth already on the way. The characters are mostly bumbling goofs who have been relegated to a post called Slough House, which, between a play on words and the fact that they are the “slow horses” compared to their thoroughbred peers, is where the show gets its name. Their leader is a man named Jackson Lamb, who:

  • Is a legendary spy who is great at his job but is also a mess of a human who drinks too much and is rude and cranky and ends up stuck in this dump of an assignment, which he kind of secretly loves
  • Is played by Gary Oldman, who appears to be having the time of his life
  • Occasionally farts himself awake

Here, look.

HORSES
APPLE

It’s all just lovely. Each season is six episodes long and focuses on a distinct mystery or conspiracy and is full of little twists and turns and double-crosses. Sometimes there are stolen diamonds. Sometimes the slow horses will reveal themselves to be drug addicts or gambling addicts and it’ll muck everything up for a little. Sometimes you’ll be watching someone do something and assume they’re taking a brave and bold stance for righteousness and then realize they’ve been manipulated into accidentally doing the bidding of someone smarter and more conniving than they are.

This last thing is especially true of one of the main characters, the grandson of a famous spy whose name is River and is the handsomest and sweetest and dumbest boy alive. He’s always charging into a situation to save the day and you can occasionally be fooled into thinking he’s onto something because he’s very pretty and confident — Raylan Givens Syndrome — and then he’ll end up bungling about and flailing in the wind like a loose napkin. It’s great.

Also great: The show has a way, at times, of being delightfully satisfying. Not always, to be sure, as some of it is cynical and ugly and features powerful people succeeding for selfish reasons. But sometimes the show will introduce a character who is despicable and smug and awful and you’ll spend a few episodes wanting them to get comeuppance in some way and then they’ll go ahead and give you just that. Like, look at this guy…

SLOW
APPLE

I’m sure this actor is a very nice man who is loved by his family and friends but you will rarely see a television character who is more punchable. This sounds mean. I know. I’m not even a violent person. But watch the show and any scene with him in it and I promise you’ll agree. You’ll be sitting at home saying “God, I hope this idiot gets played or shot or punched in the face,” and then, sure enough, all of those things will happen. Again, very satisfying.

Same with this guy.

SLOW
APPLE

Previous caveats apply again, the ones about the actor probably being a nice man. But also, come on. The character is a smug power broker who thinks he’s smarter than everyone and all you’ll want is to see him get ruined. To see that face covered in sadness and shame as he’s outwitted by the very people he just sneered at. You’ll get that, too. It’ll feel great.

Add it all up and you have maybe the most bingeable show I’ve seen in a year or two. I say this because I just spent the holidays binging seasons two and three and I enjoyed it a lot. There’s a solid mixture of fun and action and cliffhangers that meld together in a way that plays well in a lengthy clump of viewing. The action shifts from cold office buildings staffed with stuffed shirts to rural airfields staffed by Russian double agents to bars staffed by crusty bartenders. Everyone is always up to something in ways you don’t always see coming. The very British six-episode seasons help, too, because you can rip through an entire story from beginning to end in a single cloudy winter weekend. Once again, satisfying.

Please hear me out on this one. Try to get past the title. Pretend it has a different one if it helps. Let’s go with The Misadventures of the Farting and Bumbling Spies. That could work. It would be accurate if nothing else. I really cannot stress in strong enough terms how much farting there is. It is easily the best show I’ve ever seen that contains this much flatulence. Between that and the stolen diamonds and the double-crosses and the detestable people getting wrecked by their own egos and/or other people’s fists, I mean…

What else could you ask for out of a little binge, you know?

How Many Episodes Are In ‘Night Court’ Season 2?

Night Court
NBC

Back in 2008, 30 Rock brought back the cast of Night Court for a one-episode revival after the original series was canceled in 1992. The whole episode was basically just a way for Tina Fey and Co. to riff on the many reboots in the works at the time, but it also brought up a good point: there never was closure on the hit series. So it was brought back in the year 2023, because we, as a society, needed closure.

The revival of Night Court is back in session for another season, with The Big Bang Theory’s Melissa Rauch portraying Abby Stone, daughter of the late Harry Stone from the original series, as she holds the dreaded night shift at the Manhattan Criminal Court. Season one premiered last year, and now season two is in full swing.

Night Court returned with a holiday episode in December, and in 2024, new episodes will air on Tuesdays. Season two will consist of 13 episodes, which is a lot considering production was cut short due to the strikes last year.

John Larroquette, original star and producer told TheWrap that the crew was quick to return to work after negotiations were met. “Luckily, the production was being held, the stages [were] held — everything is there. We didn’t have to rebuild all of that, which sometimes happens — they need the space, so they strike stuff — but we didn’t have to do that,” he confirmed.

You can watch Night Court on Peacock.

Iggy Azalea Says She Won’t Finish Her Upcoming (Well, Not Anymore) Album And Explains Why

It appears Australian rapper and model Iggy Azalea may be shifting her focus away from music. Yesterday (January 2), Azalea took to Twitter to reveal that she is opting not to finish her upcoming album.

Azalea explained that she has found herself more fulfilled working in creative direction.

“In truth what I’ve known for a long time is that I feel more passionately about design and creative direction than I do about song writing,” Azalea said. “To many of you that’s no shock to read.”

The announcement arrives almost a year after Azalea launched her “Hotter Than Hell X OnlyFans” project, which featured Azalea in steamy boudoir photos. Elsewhere in the post, Azalea brushed off claims that she had been “bullied” out of making music.

“I know a lot of people have this idea that I was ‘bullied away from music’ and that’s something I’ve always laughed at because I’d never be bullied out of anything,” Azalea said. “In fact, I’m too stubborn.”

You can read the full statement below.

“This is gonna be long….
so only bother reading if you love me.
(If you still bother anyway you’re a weirdo who has been warned.)

I’ve always been someone who finds my joy in being creative & seeing my ideas come to life.
For a long time I used music to deliver my big crazy ideas to the world.

I know a lot of people have this idea that I was “bullied away from music” and that’s something I’ve always laughed at because I’d never be bullied out of anything!
In fact, I’m too stubborn.
I think I’ve even resisted changes within myself at times, purely because I don’t like being viewed as someone who quits.

In truth what I’ve known for a long time is that I feel more passionately about design and creative direction than I do about song writing.
To many of you that’s no shock to read.
It shows in my work. Haha!
Jokes aside, i do spend a lot more time on that part of things… because Im most confident at that.

That’s why I want to let you know that I’m not going to finish my album.
It’s been paused for a few months while I was giving direction for a different project & in truth I just haven’t felt the urge to go back to it.
I feel really happy & passionate in my day to day life when my minds focused on that and so I want to stick to what’s undeniably best for me.

Cant wait to start sharing some of the things I’ve been involved in creating & hoping you’ll see my quirk & humor in anything I touch!

I know for some fans this probably makes you feel a little deflated –
I’m sorry to let you down.
But, it’s more important I don’t let myself down.
I hope youll understand.

Talk soon! I Love you.”

Green Day Is Facing Some Conservative Pushback Over Their NYE Performance, So Rage Against The Machine’s Tom Morello Chimed In

tom morello

Over the weekend, Green Day made headlines for their New Year’s Eve performance of “American Idiot,” where they changed a lyric to call out Trump. Instead of “I’m not a part of the redneck agenda” of the original, Billie Joe Armstrong sang, “I’m not a part of the MAGA agenda.”

Since then, a video went around online of Fox Business hosts discussing the performance. “People are so sick of being preached at about politics from rock bands,” they said. “Stick to what you’re good at. You’re not a political analyst. You’re probably not really well read on the issues that Americans really care about.”

However, this didn’t sit right with Rage Against The Machine’s Tom Morello, who had some thoughts about the video. “Is that so?” he tweeted, regarding the fact that rock bands usually do call out political issues. (Case in point, his own.)

As other Green Day fans have pointed out, Armstrong has also been making this lyric change for quite a while. It just hadn’t been on New Year’s Rockin’ Eve, but that was likely to still happen when they were hired for the gig.

Back in 2016, the band also yelled “No Trump, no KKK, no fascist USA” during the American Music Awards. And most recently, they sold merch with Trump’s mugshot on it, with the proceeds going to charity.

Check out Morello’s response about the Green Day criticism below.

World’s Greatest Detective Mandy Patinkin Solves A Cruise Ship Murder Mystery In Hulu’s ‘Death And Other Details’ Trailer

What if there was a show that was like Only Murders in the Building meets Knives Out? Also, it has Mandy Patinkin as the world’s greatest detective. That sounds something like you’d watch, right? Well, you’re in luck: Hulu has released the first trailer for Death and Other Details, a new murder mystery series that has Patinkin in the Benoit Blanc role and Violett Beane as the top suspect who needs the detective’s help to prove her innocence.

Here’s the official plot synopsis:

Set amidst the glamor of the global elite, Death and Other Details centers on the brilliant and restless Imogene Scott (Violett Beane), who finds herself in the wrong place/wrong time (OK, it was kinda her fault) and becomes the prime suspect in a locked room murder mystery. The setting? A lavishly restored Mediterranean ocean liner. Suspects? Every pampered guest and every exhausted crew member. The problem? To prove her innocence, she must partner with a man she despises: Rufus Cotesworth (Mandy Patinkin), the world’s greatest detective.

Death and Other Details, which also stars Lauren Patten, Rahul Kohli, Angela Zhou, Hugo Diego Garcia, Pardis Saremi and Linda Emond, premieres on Hulu on January 16 with two episodes. That’s followed by weekly episodes before a two-part finale on March 5.

Pat McAfee Apologizes To Jimmy Kimmel For Aaron Rodgers’ Jeffrey Epstein Remarks: ‘Aaron Was Just Trying To Talk Sh*t’

Pat McAfee Jimmy Kimmel Apology
ESPN/YouTube

Last night, Jimmy Kimmel threatened Aaron Rodgers with a lawsuit after the New York Jets player alleged that the late night host is on the list of Jeffrey Epstein clients that is set to be unsealed by a judge. The remarks happened on The Pat McAfee Show where Rodgers is a frequent paid guest, and McAfee immediately apologized at the top of Wednesday’s episode.

“I can see exactly why Jimmy Kimmel felt the way he felt, especially with his position. But I think Aaron was just trying to talk shit. But did it go too far? Jimmy Kimmel certainly said that was the case,” McAfee said via Variety. “We obviously don’t like the fact that we’re associated with anything negative ever. We like our show to be an uplifting one, a happy one, a fun one. But it’s because we talk shit and try to make light of everything. Some things obviously people get very pissed off about, especially when they’re that serious allegations, so we apologize for being a part of it.”

McAfee’s extremely shaky legal defense that Rodgers was “just trying to talk sh*t” sparked a flurry of jokes on Twitter where people also noted that both ESPN and ABC are owned by Disney, who was presumably not thrilled at their wildly popular late night host being falsely connected to Epstein.

You can see some of the reactions below:

Rodgers is set to appear on McAfee’s show on Wednesday, so it’ll be interesting to see if he also apologizes or stirs up even more trouble. It honestly could go either way.

‘Bridgerton’ Season 3: Everything To Know For The New Season Including The Release Date & Cast

Bridgerton Season 3
Netflix

Bridgerton‘s second season brought the need for smelling salts in equal proportion to the first outing, which was actually a surprise considering the show’s newfound Duke-less state. The show is gearing up for the third round of corset-bound adventures based upon Julia Quinn’s book series and plenty of (thank you, John Oliver) “jizzing in blankets.”

Following a diversion into Queen Charlotte’s past, the show has reemerged in the “present” (19th Century Regency era) to take on yet another Bridgerton’s son’s journey towards marriage. It’s been quite a wait for viewers, so let’s work through what to expect from the third season, other than Anthony Bridgerton and his wife, Kate, still ^^^ getting it on together.

Plot

Yes, there will still be too many lookalike Bridgerton dudes to tell apart from each other. Here’s Anthony once more with Edmond, and even though these two don’t look like twins (like the rest of them), those genes are strong.

Bridgerton Season 3
Netflix

The main focus of this season will be Colin Bridgerton’s push-and-pull courtship of Penelope Featherington.

Bridgerton Season 3
Netflix

Of course, Penelope also sits in grave danger of being outed as gossip queen Lady Whistledown, and Eloise Bridgerton (who knows about this ruse) will surely give her grief over this duplicity.

Bridgerton Season 3
Netflix

Expect Penelope, however, to grow wary of waiting for Colin to decide that he loves her, so she will take her chances elsewhere in the dating pool. We can predict that Colin will then realize what he’s missing after relegating Penelope to “friends only” status so that he can perhaps attempt to “rake across the continent” like the Duke once did. The show has revealed that Colin will have gained some “swagger,” and for some reason, he’ll also determine to help Penelope in her courtship quest. Good luck with that via the synopsis:

[W]hen his lessons start working a little too well, Colin must grapple with whether his feelings for Penelope are truly just friendly. Complicating matters for Penelope is her rift with Eloise (Claudia Jessie), who has found a new friend in a very unlikely place, while Penelope’s growing presence in the [town] makes it all the more difficult to keep her Lady Whistledown alter ego a secret.

Cast

Tons of Bridgertons and Featheringtons will take center stage this season.

Granted, the former is always front and center, but Ms. Penelope Featherington will move from background gossip and maneuverer to the central courtship story. She will, of course, be portrayed by Nicola Coughlan with Luke Newton returning as Colin Bridgerton. As well, Simone Ashley (Kate Sharma) and Jonathan Bailey (Anthony Bridgerton) will continue to work their onscreen chemistry.

Also returning will be Julie Andrews as the voice of Lady Whistledown along with Luke Thompson (Benedict Bridgerton), Harriet Cains (Philipa Featherington), Bessie Carter (Prudence Featherington), Will Tilston (Gregory Bridgerton), Golda Rosheuvel (Queen Charlotte), Adjoa Andoh (Lady Danbury), Ruth Gemmell (Violet Bridgerton), Hannah Dodd (Francesca Bridgerton), Polly Walker (Portia Featherington), and so many more.

New characters will be portrayed by Daniel Francis (Marcus Anderson), James Phoon (Harry Dankworth), and Sam Phillips (Lord Debling).

Release Date

Netflix has been edging into the split-season format, which might not be the ideal format for bingewatchers, but it seems to be working out for Netflix since they are favoring this approach more often lately. As such, viewers can expect the first four episodes of this season to arrive on May 16. The second chunk of four will follow on June 13. Then, it’s probably onto planning for the next Bridgerton dude’s clumsy courtship since Season 4 is already greenlit.

Trailer

No trailer has materialized yet, but Netflix damn well knows what they are doing with this teaser.

Bridgerton will get hot and bothered again in May 2024.

Why Are T.I. And Tiny Harris Being Sued?

t.i.
Getty Image

A woman who claims that rapper T.I. and his wife Tameka “Tiny” Harris drugged and raped her in 2005 has filed a new lawsuit against the couple after at least one previous case was dismissed. In 2021, the couple was accused of sexual assault by a lawyer representing 11 people who claimed to have been victimized by the couple or their entourage; criminal investigations were urged but not pursued, as the statute of limitations had passed since the alleged incidents took place.

However, under California’s Sexual Abuse and Cover Up Accountability Act, a one-year “look-back” window to file lawsuits a one-year “look-back” window to file lawsuits in cases of alleged sexual abuse with expired statues of limitations was instituted, and although it expired this year, some cases were allowed to be filed on Tuesday (January 2) due to the holiday. According to Rolling Stone, this Jane Doe plaintiff, an Air Force veteran who says she was around 22 or 23 at the time of the alleged incident, filed the 15-page lawsuit late Tuesday.

T.I. and Tiny have vehemently denied the allegations for the past three years, with T.I. even addressing the suits on the 2021 track “What It’s Come To.” In a statement, they continued to deny the accusations, writing, “This plaintiff has been threatening to file this lawsuit for THREE years. For THREE years, we have emphatically and categorically denied these allegations. For THREE years we have maintained our innocence and refused to pay these extortionate demands for things we didn’t do. For THREE years, we’ve maintained the same position while the claims in this story have changed time and time again. Our position is clear. We are innocent of these fake claims, we will not be shaken down, and we look forward to our day in court.”

Noted Curser Of Texas Sports Teams Ted Cruz Is Sick Of People Blaming Him For Texas Sports Teams’ Spectacular Failures (Due To The ‘Ted Cruz Curse’)

Ted Cruz
Getty Image

Ted Cruz showed up to Monday’s big Sugar Bowl game sporting the burnt orange collars of the Texas Longhorns. They lost. The Washington Huskies beat the Longhorns 37-31, and Cruz was promptly blamed for the outcome.

The Texas senator has a history of showing up to sporting events wearing a team’s color, only for said team to lose. There’s already a name for it, the “Ted Cruz curse.” Naturally, the thin-skinned politician did not appreciate the curse going viral, again, and he lashed out at the media.

Via Ted Cruz on Twitter:

To all the dishonest press hacks blaming me for the Longhorn’s heartbreaking loss, ok—if you give me the WINS I’ve cheered on too!

-Astros World Series 17 & 22
-SEVEN consecutive Astros ALCS
-UT 06 Rose Bowl victory over USC
-A&M beating Alabama in 21
-Rockets 94 Finals win

Of course, it doesn’t help his case that isn’t the first time the senator has had to deny the existence of a Ted Cruz curse in recent months.

Back in October 2023, Cruz flew off the handle after social media blamed him for the Houston Astros losing home games that Cruz attended. Fans even went so far as to beg him to stay home during a major game that could put the Astros in the World Series. Cruz still went, and you’ll never believe what happened.

The Astros lost.

Great American Barleywines To Drink This Winter, Ranked

Pure Project/3 Floyds/Sierra Nevada/ Real Ale/istock/Uproxx
Pure Project/3 Floyds/Sierra Nevada/ Real Ale/istock/Uproxx

If you didn’t know it already, a barleywine isn’t a wine at all. Instead of being a grape-fermented drink, barleywine is a strong ale that is made from barley. They’re usually fairly high in alcohol (between 6%-12%) and loaded with malty sweetness, dried fruit flavors, caramel, and gentle spices. Not only are they great warming beers for the winter months, but they also cellar well for year-round sipping.

There are two mainstream types of barleywines these days — English and American. The English style is maltier and sweeter and is the originator of the style. It was called “barley wine” in that the alcohol content was often as high as wine but made with grains, so a beer. The American style (like with many of our craft beers) is known for its higher hop content for the most part. The latter is the style of barleywine we’re focusing on below.

It’s time to find some to drink. Keep scrolling to see eight of our favorite American barleywines ranked on overall seasonal aroma and flavor.

Read The Top Beer Posts From The Last Six Months:

8) Tampa Bay Moose Killer

Tampa Bay Moose Killer
Tampa Bay

ABV: 10%

Average Price: $13 for a four-pack of 16-ounce cans

The Beer:

You’re not likely to find any moose in Tampa Bay (or anywhere near there unless it’s at a zoo), but you can find a barleywine called Moose Killer. First brewed back in 1995, this winter classic is known for its mix of sweet malts and bold bright hops.

Tasting Notes:

On the nose, you’ll find a ton of vanilla, toffee, dried fruits, and candied orange peel. The palate is centered around raisins, caramel candy, freshly baked bread, light spices, and a ton of floral piney hops. The finish is a nice mix of boozy sweetness and gentle bitterness.

Bottom Line:

This is a great barleywine for drinkers who prefer a little extra oomph when it comes to hops in their dark beers.

7) Sierra Nevada Bigfoot

Sierra Nevada Bigfoot
Sierra Nevada

ABV: 9.6%

Average Price: $15 for a six-pack

The Beer:

There are few American-made barleywines more well-known than Sierra Nevada Bigfoot. Available January through April, this iconic beer is brewed with Caramelized and Two-Row pale malt as well as ale yeast. It gets its classic hop presence from the addition of Cascade, Centennial, and Chinook hops.

Tasting Notes:

The nose is all raisins, dried cherries, candied orange peels, caramel, and pine needles. Sipping it reveals a complex palate of bready malts, sticky toffee pudding, orange peels, raisins, light spices, and piney, floral hops. The finish is lightly bitter, warming, and pleasantly boozy.

Bottom Line:

There’s a reason Sierra Nevada Bigfoot is so beloved, it’s a masterful barleywine and one you can get (almost) everywhere.

6) Real Ale Sisyphus

Real Ale Sisyphus
Real Ale

ABV: 10.5%

Average Price: $7 for a 22-ounce bottle

The Beer:

In Greek mythology, Sisyphus is doomed to push a rock up a hill only to have it fall back down for eternity. The beer made in his honor is quite a bit less tiresome. It gets its name thanks to how much work was put into its creation.

Tasting Notes:

Aromas of sweet caramel, candied orange peels, dried fruits, and light spices fill your nostrils before your first sip. The palate is filled with notes of toffee, licorice, orange peels, plum, vanilla, and gentle floral, piney hops. The finish is boozy, warming, and memorable.

Bottom Line:

This is a great take on the American barleywine style. It has a nice balance of sweetness and bitterness.

5) AleSmith Old Numbskull

AleSmith Old Numbskull
AleSmith

ABV: 11%

Average Price: Limited Availability

The Beer:

San Diego’s Alesmith is well-known for its IPA prowess. It should come as no surprise that it brewed a “West Coast Style” barleywine. While it carries the usual sweet caramel malt profile, this memorable brew is tempered by the addition of plenty of hop aroma and flavor.

Tasting Notes:

There’s a ton of bready malts, caramel, dried fruits, and a burst of pine needles on the nose. The interesting flavors continue on the palate where orchard fruits, caramel, vanilla, raisins, and pine take center stage.

Bottom Line:

While American barleywines are known for their hop presence, this is one for the true hop heads. If you enjoy IPAs and want to try a barleywine, make it this one.

4) Pure Project Forgotten Brilliance

Pure Project Forgotten Brilliance
Pure Project

ABV: 12.3%

Average Price: $15 for a 500ml bottle

The Beer:

This popular beer was crafted to bridge the gap between classic English-style barleywines and hoppy American barleywines. It’s brewed with Maris Otter and English Crystal malts as well as Cascade and Stra hops.

Tasting Notes:

A lot is going on with this beer’s nose. There are aromas of candied orange peel, light herbal notes, almonds, caramel, dried fruits, and light pine. The palate continues this trend. There are flavors of almond cookies, orange zest, pepper, toffee candy, fresh bread, and dank pine. The finish is boozy, warming, and pleasantly bitter.

Bottom Line:

If you’re a fan of English-style barleywines and you want to give the American version a try, this is a great gateway beer.

3) 3 Floyds Pillar of the Beasts

3 Floyds Pillar of the Beasts
3 Floyds

ABV: 13.7%

Average Price: $16 for a four-pack

The Beer:

This isn’t your average barleywine. But 3 Floyds doesn’t do anything “average”. Pillar of the Beasts is a barrel-aged barleywine with a twist. It’s aged in ex-bourbon barrels for more than a year and flavored with in-house-made salted caramel.

Tasting Notes:

Breathing in the nose, you’ll be treated to aromas of sweet bourbon, oaky wood, vanilla beans, toffee, raisins, and lightly piney hops. Drinking it reveals notes of raisins, dried cherries, salted caramel, molasses, biscuit malts, oak, and floral, piney hops, The finish is lightly hoppy and ends with boozy warming whiskey.

Bottom Line:

This is one for the whiskey fans. It has everything American barleywine fans love, but it’s turned up to 11 by aging in bourbon barrels.

2) East End Gratitude

East End Gratitude
East End

ABV: 11.5%

Average Price: Limited Availability

The Beer:

This limited-edition barleywine from the folks at Pittsburgh’s East End Brewing Company is released each year to celebrate the brewery’s anniversary. It’s bottle-conditioned, making the beer in the can or bottle slightly different each year.

Tasting Notes:

Orange peels, toffee, raisins, caramel, vanilla, figs, and herbal, earthy hops abound on the nose. The palate is a symphony of butterscotch, raisins, candied orange peel, wintry spices, figs, and light piney hops. The finish is a nice combination of hop bitterness and malt sweetness.

Bottom Line:

As balanced flavors go, it’s difficult to beat the appeal of East End Gratitude. Everything is where it should be. We can see why this is an annual treat for brewery fans.

1) Fair State Zoomie Catcher

Fair State Zoomie Catcher
Fair State

ABV: 10.2%

Average Price: $15 for a four-pack

The Beer:

When Fair State set out to make this beer, they wanted to pay tribute to the popular Pacific Northwest-made American barleywines by crafting a balanced beer that had all the sweet caramel malt flavor from its English cousins and the piney floral hops from the American version. They did just that.

Tasting Notes:

The nose is a decadent mix of vanilla, caramel candy, dried fruits, and floral hops. The palate continues this with a flavor profile of Werther’s original, brown sugar, gentle baking spices, raisins, dried cherries, vanilla beans, and a nice kick of floral, herbal hops at the very finish.

Bottom Line:

This is a sublimely balanced beer. You’ll have a hard time finding a better interpretation of the American barleywine style than Fair State’s Zoomie Catcher.
