Netflix is ready for the new year with a heaping helping of new TV shows and a wide array of cinematic library additions, too. Once you ditch that January 1 resolution in three days, tops, then you will have more time to bingewatch like it’s 2024. On the subject of the film library, three John Wick movies are joining the streaming platform along with some Jurassic Park.

If that’s not enough library action for you, Netflix is also substantially beefing up their selection of available games. Currently, you can check out Death’s Door and Word Trails, and as of December 14, three Grand Theft Auto additions will be at your disposal (at no extra charge): GTA III – The Definitive Edition, GTA: San Andreas – The Definitive Edition, and GTA: Vice City – The Definitive Edition. Perhaps that will give you even more avenues to work out that angst about GTA 6 not arriving for a very long time.

Television also isn’t slowing down anytime soon. The Narcos gang is back with Griselda, and Kevin Smith will present the final season of his Masters of the Universe series. Additionally, the Queer Eye guys head back to New Orleans for their eighth season, and Love is Blind: Sweden gets rolling.

Griselda (Netflix series streaming 1/25)

Here comes “the Godmother” of cocaine. Kevin Smith (along with his worst tweet) is wrapping up his oddly controversial 1980s revival series on Netflix, and hey look, there’s still plenty of He-Man to be found here. Skeletor has become newly mechanized, and he’s still going for the soul of Eternia, but Tesla is now Sorceress Tesla, so hopefully, she will save everyone’s ass once and for all. The ragers will love that, for sure.

Good Grief (Netflix film streaming 1/25)

Daniel Levy makes his directorial debut while also portraying Marc, a wallflower who always yielded the spotlight to his husband, Oliver (Luke Evans). Sadly, Oliver dies, and this leads Marc on a quest to Paris to dig up some possibly uncomfortable truths. Ruth Negga and Himesh Patel play Marc’s sidekicks/BFFs, and get ready for both tears and bittersweet laughter.

On Wednesday, Republicans authorized an impeachment inquiry into President Joe Biden — even though, as one headline points out, “Some House Republicans Admit There Is No Evidence to Impeach Biden.” One such Republican is Rep. Don Bacon (R-NE), who, when asked if the president committed any crimes, told reporters, “Probably not. They’re getting millions of dollars off the Biden name… [but] that’s not to say there was a crime by the president.” (Yes, this is all has to do with Hunter Biden.)

Stephen Colbert can’t believe things have gotten this far. “Guys, come on. That’s kind of step one,” he said on Wednesday’s episode of The Late Show about the lack of evidence. One of the Republicans who supports the impeachment is Rep. Pat Fallon (R-TX), who compared Biden’s crimes (?) to Watergate. “Watergate started with a burglary and took them 26 months to find out it went all the way to Richard Nixon,” Colbert said. “This started with you not liking Joe Biden, and spending a year not finding a crime he committed.”

The Late Show also highlighted a quote from Rep. Troy Nehls (R-TX), who said he “wants to give Trump a little bit of ammo to fire back so they can say Biden has also been impeached.” Colbert sarcastically called it a “brilliant plan,” adding, “Now he just has to have Biden spanked by a porn star, have his followers attack the Capitol, and, worst of all, have him dance like this.”

Trevor Noah isn’t a professional musician, but he has had a noteworthy role in the music industry in recent years: Since 2021, he has hosted the Grammy Awards ceremony. He’s done it for the past three years now, and in 2024, he’ll keep the run alive as he hosts the show for a fourth time.

On a new episode of his What Now? With Trevor Noah podcast shared yesterday (December 13), Noah said (as Variety reports), “I think it’s also important to acknowledge something: I’m hosting the Grammys. I’m excited about that, yeah, it’s a lot of fun. I enjoy the Grammys because I get to watch the show in person and then experience and comment on it in person while it is happening.”

Worth noting is that in addition to hosting, Noah actually has a nomination this year, too, in the Best Comedy Album category for I Wish You Would. He’s up against Chris Rock’s Selective Outrage, Dave Chappelle’s What’s In A Name?, Sarah Silverman’s Someone You Love, and Wanda Sykes’s I’m An Entertainer.

In a 2022 interview, Noah explained what he likes about hosting the show, saying, “I’m enjoying the fact that we’re juggling flaming swords. […] You develop a deep appreciation for what these people are doing beyond just the music that they make.”

Nearly three months have gone by since an episode of The Chi has aired. That’s because the show is on a mid-season break for its sixth season following the release of eight episodes. It was reported by Deadline that the series was unable to complete the filming and production of all 16 episodes for its expanded season due to the writers and actors strikes.

Now that both are resolved, the season can return to production and eventually deliver a second half filled with the drama and unexpected twists viewers have come to love from The Chi. When the second half of The Chi season six will resume remains to be seen. Until then, here’s everything to know for the upcoming second half of season six.

Release Date

The second half of The Chi season six has yet to receive an official premiere date. It’s been nearly three months since the first half of season six came to an end with the season’s eighth overall episode. As of press time Showtime has yet to give any word on when the second half of the season may resume.

Cast

Two major characters will not be present in the second half of season six when it resumes. They are Alex R. Hibbert, who played Kevin Williams, and Tory O. Davis, who played Pastor Stanley Jackson. At the end of episode eight, Kevin packed his bags and said goodbye to his family before departing for Los Angeles to pursue a video game career. Davis’ character Pastor Stanley Jackson was killed by Douda at the end of episode six. Aside from the aforementioned names, the cast for the second half of season six will mostly remain the same.

The main cast includes Jacob Latimore as Emmett Washington, Tiffany Boone as Jerrika Little, Rolando Boyce as Darnell, Shamon Brown Jr. as Stanley “Papa” Jackson, Michael V. Plot

This season, life in The Chi reverberates between the highest highs and lowest lows. Big dreams are finally realized but at a cost and everyone will be tested in unimaginable ways as they calculate the risks and rewards of their next big move. Emmett (Jacob Latimore) and Kiesha’s (Birgundi Baker) blissful blended union is tested by his insatiable drive to expand Smokey’s and a new perilous partnership, while Kiesha finally races toward a rewarding new career. Douda (Curtiss Cook) deals with the fallout of Q’s murder and its effect on the shifting loyalty of his inner circle.

Victor’s (Luke James) bold declaration of love for both his new girlfriend and his beloved community will impact his political ambitions. Happily married Jada (Yolonda Ross) mentors Emmett and her besties as they navigate relationships. Kevin (Alex Hibbert) is becoming a brilliant master gamer but struggles with the youthful pitfalls of early independence. Jake (Michael V. Epps) launches a new business, and Papa (Shamon Brown Jr.) falls for an older woman while questioning his faith. What will become of their pursuits will be revealed throughout this season’s sixteen jaw-dropping episodes.

Most of the information in the above synopsis has been detailed in the first half of season six with Kevin’s departure, Victor’s proposal to Fatima, his new girlfriend, to move in with him, and how Emmett’s personal life and relationships are affected by his new business relationship with Douda. The second half of season six will pick up on the aftermath of Kevin’s departure, Pastor Jackson’s death and how both Bakari and Papa navigate it, Victor’s presumed decision to retaliate on Douda after he shoots Rob during Emmett and Rob’s attempt to kill Douda. There’s also the future of Victor’s political career, Bakari and Lynae’s relationship as well as Jemma and Jake’s, Marcus and Tierra’s, Emmett and Keisha’s, and others. The drama never ends on The Chi and it’s guaranteed that the second half of season six will bring more of that while giving us some answers too.

New episodes of ‘The Chi’ season 6 will soon be available through the Paramount Plus With Showtime plan on Fridays at 3 am EST/ 12 am PST. Weekly episodes will also air Sundays on Showtime at 9 pm EST/PST.
