As a part of the franchise’s 60th (!!) anniversary, the team behind Doctor Who is making sure that fans are well-fed with tons of doctor content for the rest of the year. And several more decades too, probably.
David Tennant will return to the series for the first time in exactly a decade (when he came back for a second go of it for the 50th anniversary special), though this time instead of being the Tenth Doctor, he is the Fourteenth Doctor, before Ncuti Gatwa’s Fifteen Doctor makes his debut. Where is Matt Smith when you need him? Probably holding out for the 70th anniversary.
Tennant will return alongside Catherine Tate, who is reprising her role of Donna Noble in the new specials, which include three episodes all written by Doctor Who veteran Russell T. Davies. Neil Patrick Harris will make his debut as The Toymaker, a villain who last appeared in the series in 1966, when “streaming” still meant going to look at a nice waterfall.
The specials will begin airing on November 25th on BBC and on Disney+ for those of us who don’t actually live among the British.
Finally, the traditional Doctor Who Christmas Special The Church On Ruby Road will air on Christmas Day when Gatwa will make his appearance. This will be the first Doctor Who Christmas broadcast since 2017, back when Peter Capaldi was the titular Doctor. Maybe he’ll come back in 20 years too.
George R.R. Martin readers should know by now that The Winds of Winter is not guaranteed to arrive, sooner or later. It could very well never arrive which is a surprisingly logical conclusion to reach, but remember, Martin promised that readers could imprison him if he didn’t finish that much anticipated epic novel by a specified 2020 date. That date came and went, and Martin has since been busy with a seeming array of TV producing duties and so on. He even had a hefty hand in AMC’s Dark Winds, which made some people wonder if Martin was trolling them with the title.
That probably wasn’t the case, but it felt like Martin was conceivably trolling people by recently announcing “THE OFFICIAL GAME OF THRONES COOKBOOK!” This volume will come with Dothraki recipes and everything, but a whole heaping helping of jokey responses about The Winds of Winter were volleyed his way on social media.
Fast forward a week or so, and maybe Martin is getting tired of people taking this cookbook thing kind-of personally. The author decided to push back on the pushback by tweeting a meme of “What everyone thinks I’m doing all day” and “What I’m actually doing…” In the former category, he’s standing in front of aliens, and in the latter, he’s writing… something.
So perhaps this is all getting under his skin after all. GRRM’s faithful readers have been jonesing for The Winds Of Winter for a long time, but perhaps everyone should simply leave GRRM alone, but also, maybe no more Game of Thrones cookbook announcements for awhile.

Both deals together get you a full-blown meal for several people for under $30. Not bad!
Many iconic bits play out in this little-known show called The Simpsons, and it would take about 752 episodes to explain them all. Some of them are even “predicting” things that “haven’t happened” yet but that’s for a different time. Back when the show was still in its teen years, there was a frequent joke that involved Homer literally strangling his son Bart. And that’s…the joke. Comedy can be so easy.
But maybe you’ve noticed that America’s favorite sitcom father has not been strangling his ten-year-old child as of late and began to wonder why that is. Good for you, looking out for Bart.
In a recent episode of The Simpsons, Homer mentions that he doesn’t “do that anymore” in regards to strangling his prepubescent son because “times have changed.” And even though he only just mentioned it in season 35, Homer has been laying off the abuse for years now! So you can rest easy.
I just found out that, after over 30 years, The Simpsons has finally retired their long-running gag of Homer strangling Bart.
The last time Homer did this little strangling stunt was in season 31 (2019-2020) so maybe the state of the world taught the man to be a little kinder. Or maybe he just lost his upper arm strength. Who really knows, but the topic has been breached before. In a season 22 episodes (from 2011 because this show is never going to end) Homer learns how to parent without getting violent. It only took him another decade to implement it, but, hey, that’s better than whatever is going on over there on Family Guy.
Only two weeks have passed since Dreamville Festival announced its 2024 dates, but it’s never too early to start planning. While the festival’s headliners haven’t been announced yet, the bulk of the lineup is pretty easy to predict, and fans of J. Cole and his labelmates like Ari Lennox, Bas, Earthgang, and JID are undoubtedly already looking forward to finding who’ll be joining them at next year’s show.
Of course, planning to attend means budgeting the trip ahead of time — which means knowing how much tickets cost. Presale tickets go on sale tomorrow (November 7) with the public sale beginning Friday (11/10) at 10 am, so it’s probably worth knowing what the impact on wallets could be.
How Much Are Dreamville Fest 2024 Tickets?
Judging from the prices of this year’s tickets, fans should expect to pay at least $249 for general admission tickets. Meanwhile, GA + packages this year started at $499, junior varsity VIP packages started at $749, varsity VIP packages started at $999, and most valuable player VIP packages started at $1,499. Unless there’s a drastic leap from last year, it’s probably fair to assume next year’s prices will be similar (we’ll update this post when we know for sure).
One thing’s for certain, though: It’s bound to be worth the price of admission as J. Cole has proven a masterful curator. Look no further than Dreamville Fest 2023, when headliner Drake brought out a plethora of special guests and performers like Burna Boy, Summer Walker impressed.
Dreamville Festival 2024 will take place on April 6 and 7. Get more info here.
All of which is to say, who knows what Dreamville bosses J. Cole and Ibrahim “Ib” Hamad have in store for the 2024 Dreamville Festival, but we at least know when and where it will return to Raleigh, North Carolina: April 6 and 7, 2024.
According to a press release, “An early-bird ticket sale for the general public” is scheduled for Friday, November 10, but the 2024 pre-sale begins on Tuesday, November 7, at 10 a.m. EST “for fans who are newsletter subscribers.” Dreamville additionally posted instructions to Instagram this morning (November 6), writing, “Text DREAMVILLE to 68624 and be the first to get your presale password. Public on sale starts Friday at 10am ET at Dreamvillefest.com Disclaimer: fees are included in this year’s ticket pricing, so you’ll be able to see the full amount up front! (before taxes, if applicable)”
If you visit the official Dreamville Festival website, you’re immediately prompted to sign up for festival updates. Ticketing information is also provided, including details about two general admission packages, three VIP packages — JV, Varsity, and MVP — and hotel options. Chase cardholders “will have early access to GA, GA+, and all VIP-tiered tickets” beginning on Wednesday, November 8, at 10 a.m. EST.

When Zack Snyder said he was building a cinematic universe on Netflix, he wasn’t kidding around. According to a new interview, Snyder has revealed that his upcoming sci-fi epic, Rebel Moon, is surprisingly set in the same universe as his 2021 zombie thriller, Army of the Dead.
We say surprising because Army of the Dead is set in Las Vegas while Rebel Moon takes place in a fictional galaxy way the heck out in space. The two couldn’t be further apart, but Snyder has opened up about how the films are connected even though that link would have been shown in an animated series that never got completed.
“Army of the Dead has a pretty vast mythology that never made it into the movie. There’s actually a character from Rebel Moon in the Army of the Dead animated series that we never did,” Snyder told Total Film. That series was called Army of the Dead: Lost Vegas, but it never saw the light of day. However, if it did, there would have been a visible connection to Snyder’s upcoming sci-fi film.
“At one point in the show, they go through a portal into another dimension, and there are characters in that other dimension that they come across,” Snyder said, “In Rebel Moon, they’re in this bar, and one of the aliens is one of the characters from the animatic. So it’s definitely a shared universe.”
Here’s the official synopsis for Rebel Moon:
When a peaceful colony on the edge of a galaxy finds itself threatened by the armies of a tyrannical ruling force, Kora (Sofia Boutella), a mysterious stranger living among the villagers, becomes their best hope for survival. Tasked with finding trained fighters who will unite with her in making an impossible stand against the Mother World, Kora assembles a small band of warriors — outsiders, insurgents, peasants and orphans of war from different worlds who share a common need for redemption and revenge.
As the shadow of an entire Realm bears down on the unlikeliest of moons, a battle over the fate of a galaxy is waged, and in the process, a new army of heroes is formed.
Rebel Moon: Part One – A Child of Fire premieres December 22 on Netflix.
The Toronto Raptors pulled off a massive comeback on Sunday evening in San Antonio, as they erased a 22-point deficit to force overtime and, ultimately, pull away to a 123-116 win in the extra period.
Scottie Barnes led the way in the comeback with 30 points, 11 rebounds, and 6 assists, with most of his production coming in the second half as he took over. Helping the cause were Dennis Schroder and OG Anunoby, who each had 24 points to help lift the Raptors to a needed win on the road. Anunoby could’ve had 29 points if not for a pair of outrageous blocks from Spurs star rookie Victor Wembanyama, who had five blocks total on the night (along with 20 points and nine rebounds).
The first Wemby block on OG came on a drive to the rim where Anunoby thought he’d pushed the young Frenchman far enough on the other side of the basket to use the rim as protection — he had not (12 second mark of the first vid below) — and the second was one of the hilarious closeout blocks Wembanyama has already become known for on three-pointers, blocking a corner three that was well off the fingertips of Anunoby when he got to it.
Because Toronto got the win, Anunoby was in good spirits about those blocks after the game and had a very funny response when asked about them, as he was unable to really explain what happened other than saying Wembanyama is just “too tall.”
This is the general sentiment of most people, and specifically the fact that Wembanyama is 7’4 with crazy long arms and moves as well as he does. That’s the thing that separates him from any other players that have come into the league at that height. Kevin Garnett, who is all in on the young star, has noted that it used to be guys that size moved “like oak trees” but Wemby moves like a guard with his fluidity, and it makes his length even more terrifying to deal with.
Anunoby is not the first and will certainly not be the last to learn that Victor is “too tall” this season, and Wembanyama’s reputation as a shot blocker already has grown to have the respect of everyone that plays against him.
Dua Lipa will drop her highly anticipated single “Houdini” on Thursday, November 9, and while Harry Houdini is a famed escape artist, Lipa’s most loyal fans are hoping to be chosen for the ultimate act of escapism. On Monday morning, November 6, Lipa announced “three surprise launch events for ‘Houdini’ in London, Los Angeles, and Tokyo” across her social media accounts.
“The first one’s going to be in my hometown, London, this Thursday!!! [three anatomical heart emojis]” Lipa wrote. “I’m going to be inviting down some of my fans from the UK and around Europe, so keep your eyes peeled [lock-and-key emoji].”
The launch events are billed as “Catch Me Or I Go…” Lipa’s Los Angeles launch event is scheduled for Tuesday, November 14, followed by Tokyo on Monday, November 20.

“The next record will still be pop, she says, lest her ‘fans have a meltdown.’ She doesn’t want to ‘alienate’ them, although she’s developing a new sound that may be informed less by the house and disco beats beneath songs like ‘Physical’ and ‘Hallucinate’ than by 1970s-era psychedelia. She’s working with a smaller group of songwriting collaborators, supposedly including Kevin Parker of the Australian psych-rock band Tame Impala, a rumor she all but confirms by denying: ‘I don’t know what you’re talking about,’ she says, then looks away and laughs a little. Lipa’s dressed — almost studiously — in pop star-off-duty drag: Ugg slip-ons, baggy white jeans, an old Elton John T-shirt, a few diamond-encrusted hoops in each ear.”
In early October, the three-time Grammy winner appeared to officially commence her “DL3” rollout by wiping all of her social media feeds and updating her profile icon and header images, and “Houdini” was unveiled just days ago.
