Who Will ‘Yellowstone’ Actor Mo Brings Plenty Be Playing In ‘Lawmen: Bass Reeves?’

Thanks to his role as the no-nonsense right-hand man to Gil Cunningham’s casino owner Thomas Rainwater, Mo Brings Plenty has played a prominent part on powerhouse western series Yellowstone. The Native actor also has become a key piece of Taylor Sheridan‘s burgeoning TV empire, both in front of the camera and behind as Brings Plenty has become a trusted consultant for making sure Native tribes are respectfully featured on screen.

With Lawmen: Bass Reeves, Brings Plenty will continue to be a versatile player in the Taylor Sheridan-verse. According to Deadline, the actor will star in the new series as Minco Dodge, “a Choctaw Native American and friend” to the titular character played by David Oyelowo.

However, despite the new Sheridan series having a western setting and sharing some of the same actors, Lawmen is not connected to Yellowstone or its 1883 spinoff. Showrunner Chad Feehan recently told TV Insider that Lawmen will be a stand-alone story that centers on Reeves’ life from 1862 to 1887, stopping six years short of the Yellowstone spinoff.

Here’s the official synopsis:

From executive producers Taylor Sheridan and David Oyelowo comes the untold story of the most legendary lawman in the Old West: Bass Reeves. Lawmen: Bass Reeves, follows the journey of Reeves (Oyelowo) and his rise from enslavement to law enforcement as the first Black U.S. Marshal west of the Mississippi. Despite arresting over 3,000 outlaws during the course of his career, the weight of the badge was heavy, and he wrestled with its moral and spiritual cost to his beloved family.

Lawmen: Bass Reeves premieres November 5 on Paramount+.

The ‘Constantine’ Director Has Some Promising News About A Keanu Reeves-Starring Sequel

Keanu Reeves knows that there is demand for a Constantine sequel, and he’s shown a ton of interest in the sequel, so there is a chance that this might actually happen. Listen, Reeves has been known to return to his passion projects way later and give the best dang performances of his life, so why stop now? It’s a trend for a reason.

There have been rumors of a new Constantine film for years, though it has been quiet as of late, for obvious reasons. But director Francis Lawrence says he’s still on board as long as the fans are. “Constantine 2 got obviously held up by the writers strike,” Lawrence said in a new interview with Gamespot (as pointed out by Deadline) before confirming that the character is in the right place. “And we had to jump through a bunch of hurdles to get control of the character again, because other people had control of the Vertigo stuff. We have control.”

Not only are they in control, but Reeves is fully invested in the process. Lawrence added, “Keanu and Akiva Goldsman and I have been in meetings and have been hashing out what we think the story is going to be, and there’s more meetings of those that have to happen,” Lawrence confirmed, before adding that the movie is still in its early stages. “The script has to be written–but really hoping that we get to do Constantine 2, and make a real rated R version of it.” Just imagine if it’s a normal Constantine sequel, only Reeves says the F word every line. Movie of the year.

So, now that this is all settled we can start to work on a campaign to get a Johnny Mnemonic sequel, right? Let’s make it happen.

Kevin Abstract’s New Album ‘Blanket’: Everything To Know Including The Release Date, Tracklist & More

Brockhampton’s former de facto frontman Kevin Abstract returned recently, teasing a new solo album in the wake of the band’s dissolution last year. While longtime fans might have expected a hip-hop-tinged project based on Abstract’s prior output, at a secret show in LA where he played the album, Blanket, he surprised fans with a rock-inflected collection of songs that suggested a new direction for the mastermind behind Brockhampton’s success.

Stephen Colbert Went To Town On New House Speaker Mike Johnson For Believing ‘Early Humans Had Dinosaurs As Pets’

As Stephen Colbert fans know, the late night comedian spent years teaching Sunday school, so he had a lot to say when new Speaker of the House Mike Johnson said that the Bible represents his view on “any issue under the sun.” Not only that, but Johnson has direct ties to the infamous Creation Museum, which has some interesting stances on the age of the Earth.

As a Christian fundamentalist, Johnson actually thinks that humans and dinosaurs lived together despite fossil records to the contrary, and Colbert had a little fun with that belief

“Yes, many early humans had dinosaurs as pets ― it’s right there in The Book of Hanna-Barbera,” Colbert joked before reading a passage from the holy tome. “And the Lord spake to Hezekiah: have thou a yabba dabba doo time, a dabba doo time, we’ll have a gay old – wait, not that part!”

Again, as a devout Catholic, Colbert knows The Bible and he peppered Johnson with all of the things he’ll need to do to live a literal life according to the Bible.

Via HuffPost:

“Being biblically faithful is not easy for a guy from Louisiana ’cuz now he has to give up shrimp, crab, oysters and barbecue pork,” he said. “And I’m sure he’s gonna miss his wife when she has to be cast out of town during the time of her blood, only to be allowed to return when she brings two turtledoves to the tabernacle for the priest to sacrifice.”

However, the late night host noted that if Johnson truly is as Biblical as he claims to be, it should be a boon to the Left.

“If the Bible is his worldview on any issue, I don’t know why progressives are nervous,” Colbert said. “He’s clearly gonna ask the rich to sell all their possessions and give the money to the poor.”

You can watch Colbert dunk all over Johnson at the 5:03 mark below:

SZA & Drake’s ‘Slime You Out’ Collaboration Might’ve Been Sabotaged, Or So The Singer Questioned

Apparently, Nicki Minaj isn’t the only woman in music harboring resentment toward Drake over his latest solo album, For All The Dogs. Minaj’s long-awaited and frequently teased track with her Young Money alum didn’t make the final tracklist, so she dropped her own freestyle over a song that did appear. On the other hand, SZA’s collaboration with Drake did.

However, yesterday (October 30), in a sit-down with the Wall Street Journal, SZA questioned if Drake was back up to his Mean Girls’ Regina George-ish ways. When discussing “Slime You Out” with journalist Hunter Harris, SZA theorized that Drake might’ve sabotaged her.

“I just handed in the first draft to Drake, and he’s putting it on his album. I’m scared because I handed in the second vocals, and he didn’t use that. And now I’m like, ‘Are you trying to sabotage me?’ I know that’s not true. I literally know that’s not true, but that’s how bad I feel about my first draft. When things come from an effortless space, I almost can’t enjoy it,” said SZA.

Although she was sure to clarify that she was overthinking the scenario, fans online have verbalized their disappointment in the track. That certainly could’ve triggered SZA’s perfectionism. In June, SZA admitted to “punking out” of a guest appearance on Lil Tjay’s “Calling My Phone Remix” because she didn’t feel she could add anything to the record.

Does Metro Boomin & Future’s Album Have A Release Date?

Metro Boomin has had a busy year so far, but fans have been looking forward to one project as much as any other. Although he’s produced for the Spider-Man: Across The Spider-Verse soundtrack, a new Young Thug album, and even a symphony orchestra, what fans really want to know is when Metro’s new album with Future is coming. Future and Metro have a long working history that goes back to the Atlanta rapper’s second album Honest and includes smashes like “Jumpman” with Drake, “Mask Off,” and most recently “Superhero (Heroes & Villains)” from Metro’s latest album Heroes & Villains.

Well, I’ve got some bad news and some good news for those fans. The bad news is that the album does not yet have a release date. The good news is that per Metro’s last update, the joint album will be his top focus for the rest of the year. In an interview with Complex, he said, “My blinders on tunnel vision. All I can see right now is me and Future’s album. Nothing else until that’s out. When it’s a [release] date, the world will know.” This could also, of course, be bad or good news for ASAP Rocky fans, since Rocky’s album purportedly has heavy input from Metro; either this means that album is done or it’s on hiatus while Metro finishes his joint project with Future.

In the meantime, Metro and Future have been teasing the project all year, with Future calling it the “album of the year” in January and Metro playing an unreleased song during a set in June. That could bode well… after all, there are only two more months left in 2023 for it to earn the distinction Future bestowed (although he didn’t say which year, perhaps giving him some cushion for 2024.

Seth Meyers Was Blown Away By Taylor Swift Writing Her Own ‘Perfect ‘SNL’ Monologue’ Her First Time Hosting In 2009

Seth Meyers appeared on Howard Stern’s SiriusXM radio show yesterday (October 30), where the pair got to discussing Taylor Swift hosting Saturday Night Live back in 2009 — as Meyers had been a cast member at the time, and eventually, hosted himself too.

Specifically, Meyers praised Swift’s opening monologue, where she famously mocks some of her exes with a creative song and just an acoustic guitar on stage. He also revealed that she came up with the idea for it entirely on her own, and pitched it to him and Lorne Michaels.

“It really speaks to what a force of nature she is and the depths of her talent,” he shared. “But here’s a 19-year-old who is, again, nobody is really helping out. Nobody gave her a manual on how to do it. And yet, she came to us and said, ‘I wrote a song for the opening monologue.’ And I remember saying, ‘Oh God, that’s great.’ And she said, ‘Can I play it for you?’”

“She sings this song which is not only a beautiful song by a beautiful singer. It’s a perfect SNL monologue, fully formed,” Meyers added. “And it was, to this day, I’ve sort of never had a moment like that where someone brings you a fully gift-wrapped present and it’s exactly what you needed it to be.”

Check out the clip of Seth Meyers talking about Taylor Swift’s SNL monologue above.
