Based on the influx of viral videos, the Weekends With Adele Las Vegas residency show is quite the musical experience, with the “Easy On Me” singer putting her best foot and designer gown forward at every performance. On Friday, October 27, she unveiled her Halloween spirit early with a Morticia Addams-inspired stage look.

In January,during an appearance on The Drew Barrymore Show, Sam Smith laughed off the conspiracy theory that they’re Adele in drag. Fans hoped Adele would feed into it for the holiday. Instead, she went for the next best thing. In videos and photographs captured by concertgoers, Adele traded her coiffed blonde waves for a bone-straight jet-black do.

That wasn’t the only thing different about Adele’s appearance. For the stage makeup, she recreated the beloved fictional character’s vamped smokey eye look and dark lipstick.

Halloween 2023 falls at the beginning of the work week, so many celebrities are rolling out their looks ahead of time. This week the majority of the world learned a new, very boring but very powerful name: Mike Johnson. He’s the new Speaker of the House, and after four Wile E. Coyote-esque attempts to replace the historically ousted Kevin McCarthy, he initially seemed like a sensible choice. Turns out he wasn’t. The clean-cut guy with the generic name is a MAGA die hard who was against certifying the 2020 election. He’s an ultra-Christian who believes America isn’t a democracy but a “Biblical republic.”

Speaking of, he’s also a fan of anti-sodomy laws. On Friday’s episode of Real Time with Bill Maher, the host focused on that aspect during his opening monologue. After joking that House Republicans “finally found someone who fits the glass slipper,” Maher joked that he was a fan.

“Oh, boy, do I like this guy,” Maher sarcastically told the crowd. “Super duper, super Christian. I mean, super Christ-y. The and and probably the worst of the election deniers. So the Republicans have really found their sweet spot, loves Jesus, hates democracy.”

After cracking that Johnson is so extreme in his abortion views that he believes “life begins at insurrection,” he turned to his LGBTQIA+ views. Johnson, he says, “absolutely hates gay sex, especially when he’s having it.” He added, “He wants to actually criminalize gay sex because it makes it hotter.”

Maher continued:

Oh, this is a beaut, this guy. He is written in favor of reinstituting sodomy laws. Sodomy laws? That’s laws against anal and oral. I. I’ve never understood this about the Republicans. If you’re so against abortion, why would you be against the two places to do it where you can’t get pregnant? Right. Well, I think this is actually a giant gift to the Democrats because, I mean, oh, wow, forget about Republicans coming after your Social Security. Now they’re coming after your anal! Finally, something to get the young people to the polls.

On the plus side, voters famously pounded the GOP last year over their extreme positions on issues like abortion. Surely appointing a hard-liner like Johnson won’t do them any favors next year. What’s more, as Kevin McCarthy learned, it’s really easy these days to depose a House Speaker.

Movies are really long these days. Avatar: The Way of Water was almost as long as Titanic. Oppenheimer was only slightly shorter, as was Avengers: Endgame. All three gobbled up money like it was going out of fashion. Audiences, perhaps used to binge-watching TV, clearly aren’t opposed to endless cinema. But it seems one movie may have broken them.

Per Variety, some theaters have been adding an intermission to Killers of the Flower Moon. The latest from TikTok star Martin Scorsese runs a whopping three hours and 26 minutes. That’s a few minutes shorter than The Irishman. But that film was largely seen at home, over Netflix. People could pause for bathroom and snack breaks, or just to stretch their legs. And so some venues have been pausing the film around the two-hour mark.

When the Flower Moon team caught wind of this, they weren’t happy. After all, if Scorsese and his team intended for there to be an intermission, they would have added one.

“I understand that somebody’s running it with an intermission which is not right,” said Thelma Schoonmaker, Scorsese’s longtime editor. “That’s a violation so I have to find out about it.”

After one theater in Colorado showed the epic docudrama with a break, they were reprimanded by Paramount and Apple Original Films, who distributed the film. They then nixed their intermissions.

Alas, moviegoers were reportedly happy to get a break.

“Everybody was really into it because it’s a longer movie, and they’re like, ‘I wish we would have had it for Oppenheimer,’” one anonymous person told The Hollywood Reporter (though it’s unclear if this is the same Colorado theater). “People could come out, order another drink, stretch their legs, go to the bathroom and not miss anything.”

They added, “People were big fans of it. We were going to keep doing it going forward with longer movies, but now it doesn’t seem like an option.”

But some respected Scorsese and team’s intent. “Outside of the debate of whether or not there should be an intermission, or whether or not that creative or artistic choice should have been made,” a theater manager said, “Paramount has done exactly what all movie lovers hope studios would do, which is help create a director’s vision onscreen in exactly the way that the director wants it to be seen.”

Scorsese has yet to comment on the intermissions. But he’s clearly unmoved by people carping about long movies in the age of binge-watching.

“People say it’s three hours, but come on, you can sit in front of the TV and watch something for five hours,” he recently told The Hindustan Times. “Also, there are many people who watch theatre for 3.5 hours. There are real actors on stage, you can’t get up and walk around. You give it that respect, give cinema some respect.”

Killers of the Flower Moon is now in theaters.

The ongoing SAG-AFTRA strike has led to some big shake-ups in the movie release calendar. In another timeline, Dune: Part Two would have been released this month. (Instead it will drop in March.) Disney, meanwhile, bumped two its big releases a year each. Their weirdly controversial Snow White redo will now be out on March 21, 2025, while Pixar’s Elio moved from March 2024 to June 13, 2025. Another smaller film, meanwhile, has disappeared from the calendar entirely (for now).

Per Entertainment Weekly, Magazine Dreams, an indie drama that wowed critics when it hit Sundance earlier this year, has gone from a December 4 release to what the company labeled “unset.” Why? It could possibly have something to do with its star, Jonathan Majors.

Earlier this year, the acclaimed actor was arrested in New York City after an alleged incident with his then-girlfriend Grace Jabbari that turned violent. According to the allegations, the two were in a taxi cab when Jabbari saw a text message sent to Majors that read, “Wish I was kissing you right now.” After Jabbari grabbed his phone, Majors allegedly violently pried the phone from her hands, twisting her forearm and causing what was described as “substantial pain.” He’s also been accused of hitting her right ear, resulting in a laceration. Majors was subsequently charged with strangulation, assault, and harassment

Majors has denied the allegations, claiming it was Jabbari who attacked him.

At the time of his arrest in March, Majors had major supporting roles in two big movies: Creed III and Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania. He also played variants of his Marvel baddie Kang the Conqueror in the second season of Loki, which began airing earlier this month. The producers of the latter spoke about how it felt “hasty” to remove the actor from the show considering the case had not yet concluded.

Disney has not publicly addressed whether putting a pause on Magazine Dreams’ release has anything to do with Majors’ legal woes.

Shortly after Dua Lipa had fans wondering if she was gearing up for a new album release after wiping her Instagram feed, it seems the pop star is back with a cryptic new post.

The image is a close-up of Lipa’s mouth, as she holds a key clenched between her teeth. “Catch me or I go…” she captioned, leading many fans to suspect that this might be a lyric from an upcoming track.

Since Lipa released her last album, Future Nostalgia, back in 2020, she has spent the past few years working on a follow-up to the incredible record and era.

Over the summer, Lipa did an interview with the New York Times Magazine where she confirmed that the album would be arriving sometime next year.

“The album is different – it’s still pop but it’s different sonically, and there’s more of a lyrical theme,” the pop star also previously shared during a separate interview with Variety. “If I told you the title, everything would make sense – but I think we’ll just have to wait.”

As fans wait to see what else Lipa has in store, they still can enjoy her “Dance The Night” song from the Barbie soundtrack that she dropped earlier this year.

The Dallas Mavericks don’t always need Luka Doncic to drag them to wins, but when they do, he has the uncanny ability to deliver. On Friday night against the Brooklyn Nets, Doncic managed to do just that, as he knocked down four threes in the final three minutes of the game to help to help Dallas pick up a 125-100 win.

The most impressive of the bunch came with just under 30 seconds to go. Brooklyn’s defense did everything it could to keep Doncic from getting off a good look with the game tied, and try as he might, he wasn’t able to pull up and shoot. Instead, while Dorian Finney-Smith was all over him and Royce O’Neale was doing what he can to contest as the shot clock was ticking down to zero, Doncic just decided to chuck the ball towards the hoop with one hand.

Because Luka Magic might actually be a real thing, he managed to bank it in and hit the go-ahead bucket.

On the night, Doncic went for 49 points on 16-for-25 shooting with a 9-for-14 clip from behind the three-point line — while it’s early, his 49 points is the most any player has scored in a game this season. He also pitched in 10 rebounds and seven assists.

The Voidz will play their Halloween shows at Brooklyn’s Murmrr Theatre in just a few days. However, the band is getting into the spooky spirit early, by dropping their new song, “Flexorcist.”

“I guess I mighta – sounded a little crazy, maybe / I only think of things I shouldn’t do,” Julian Casablancas sings, as the song runs on for six minutes, taking listeners on a rollercoaster ride.

The music video for the track also has some extra fun surprises in store, as Casablancas added some other musicians to it. Mac DeMarco appears as a devil (including during a hilarious bit at the beginning), and Weyes Blood is in the video as well.

“Flexorcist” follows their last single, “Prophecy Of The Dragon,” which The Voidz previously described in a press statement as one that “started with a very simple question: ‘What would it feel like if God whispered into your ear, ‘You are my most magnificent creature?”” Considering the band’s last album was back in 2018, they very well could have a new full-length project on the way.

As for the band’s immersive residency, The Voidz will be playing four nights starting on Halloween (October 31) until November 3. Tickets and more information can be found here.

Zara Larsson announced her new album, Venus, as the follow-up to her 2021 record, Poster Girl. To celebrate, she also revealed that she’ll be doing a European tour next year.

According to a press release, the new record is “A pop album fit for a goddess, Venus is Zara Larsson setting her own agenda – in part, by looking back on where she’s come from.”

Earlier this year, Larsson also did an interview with Uproxx where she shared more about what the album would sound like. “I think it’s super fun,” she said. “It has some highs and some lows in there – some beautiful ballads, some dancey songs. I feel like it’s just a collection of really good music. It’s how I’ve kind of always navigated in the music industry for as long as I have done this. Sonically, does it have a red thread? Not really, I think the red thread is the quality and my voice, and its dynamic.”

She previously released her “On My Love” collaboration with David Guetta.

You know how every now and then, Nikola Jokic does something silly? Not in a “wow, look at how funny it is that he clearly wants the NBA playoffs to end so he can go back to his horses” way, but in a “how in the world did he just do that?” way.

Well, guess what, folks: We got another one of those from Jokic on Friday night. The Denver Nuggets are in Memphis to take on the Grizzlies, and during the third quarter, Jokic was set to inbound the ball following a Memphis turnover. Jokic got the ball in the backcourt and looked like he could have just given it to Reggie Jackson.

Instead, Jokic looked down the floor and saw something that he liked, so he decided to heave the ball towards his own rim. The camera could barely catch up in time to show that Aaron Gordon was chilling out over there and got behind the entire Grizzlies defense, and as a result, he was able to go up, grab the ball, and dunk.

With how good he is at connecting on deep shots, you have to wonder if the Denver Broncos will ever give Jokic a call and see if he can get the job done under center.

TikTokker Brielle Asero, a recent college graduate, had a rude awakening after her first day at a new 9-to-5, 40-hour-a-week office job. The experience had her wondering how she would find the time to have a life given her commute and long work day.

Every day, the woman has a 2-hour commute from New Jersey to New York City.

“I’m so upset,” she says in the video, saying it’s not the job but the schedule that’s the problem. “I get on the train at 7:30 a.m., and I don’t get home until 6:15 p.m. [at the] earliest. I don’t have time to do anything!” Asero says in a video seen over 2.6 million times.

She calls the schedule “crazy” and asks, “How do you have friends? How do you have time to meet a guy?”

“I don’t have the time to do anything,” she continued. “I want to shower, eat my dinner, and go to sleep. I don’t have the time or energy to cook my dinner either. I don’t have energy to work out, like, that’s out of the window. I’m so upset, oh my god.”

After the video went viral, Asero clarified her comments in a follow-up where she noted that many people have it harder than she does.

“So me, I’m just one worker. I shouldn’t represent everybody because I don’t even have half the struggles most people do,” she said. “Most people have kids and animals. Imagine me leaving a dog or kid at home from 7:30 in the morning to 7:30 at night.”

Asero added that she is “thankful” for her job because not many companies are willing to train college graduates.
