Leonardo DiCaprio Did So Much Ad-Libbing On ‘Killers Of The Flower Moon’ That It Made Scorsese And De Niro ‘Roll Their Eyes’

Killers of the Flower Moon is Leonardo DiCarpio’s sixth film with TikTok icon Martin Scorsese, and yet they’re still capable of surprising each other. That’s not always a good thing, though. Indeed, on this, their latest collaboration, the legendary filmmaker didn’t take too kindly to one of DiCaprio’s favorite working methods: ad-libbing.

During a recent chat with The Telegraph, Scorsese admitted he was a bit incensed by DiCaprio’s yen for improvisation, which he described as “endless, endless, endless.” Scorsese wasn’t alone in his occasionally exasperation: Instead of being inspired by DiCaprio off-script dalliances, co-star Robert De Niro simply “didn’t want to talk.”

Scorsese added, “Every now and then, Bob and I would look at each other and roll our eyes a little bit. And we’d tell him: ‘You don’t need that dialogue.’”

Mind you, DiCaprio’s love of improvising lines can pay handsome dividends. James Cameron may have also been annoyed with him taking the role of Jack in Titanic too seriously, but it was DiCaprio who came up with perhaps its most famous line: “I’m king of the world!”

Scorsese himself hasn’t always been immune to ad-libbing. It was De Niro who famously came up with the most famous line in Taxi Driver: “You talkin’ to me?”

Despite Scorsese and De Niro’s grumblings, DiCaprio has been earning some of the best notices of his career for Killers of the Flower Moon. He plays one of the filmmakers’ loser protagonists: a WWI vet with few scruples and no backbone, who falls prey to the murderous machinations of his uncle (De Niro), who hatches an elaborate plan to murder members of the nouveau riche Osage for their oil wealth. If he had to do some bad ad-libbing to ultimately get that performance, then so be it.

‘Kingsman’ Director Matthew Vaughn Is Wondering Why Lucasfilm Doesn’t Just Reboot ‘Star Wars’

We live in an epoch of reboots and revivals and redos and whatnot. And yet this trend has never quite impacted one of the biggest franchises out there: Star Wars. One series creator George Lucas started his prequels, they’ve expanded, not started over. But why not start over? That’s what Kingsman director Matthew Vaughn is wondering.

In a recent appearance on the podcast Happy Sad Confused, Vaughn was asked about if he’d ever venture over to Lucasfilm, maybe even do one of those films that keep getting delayed or cancelled. What about one of those TV shows that focus on a supporting character? But Vaughn clearly wasn’t into any of that.

“For me, doing a Star Wars movie is to play with the characters that I loved,” he replied. “So if they said to me, ‘Do you want to reboot Star Wars and actually have Luke Skywalker, Solo, Vader, and you do your version of it… That would excite me.”

When host Josh Horowitz accused Vaughn of having a “death wish” for arguing that we need a new Luke and Leia and Han and Chewie, Vaughn stood his ground.

“Why not?” he shot back. “Why are these characters so hallowed, from ’77, that you can’t re-do it for a new audience?”

Vaughn maintained that the TV series, like The Mandalorian and Andor and Ahsoka, are “brilliant,” he also agued that Star Wars is really about “the Skywalker family,” adding that “that’s where I think they’ve gone wrong, because they’ve forgotten.” He concluded that the franchise “needs an epic new film.”

Hey, in a few years the one that started it all is turning a half-century. Maybe it’s time for a Luke Skywalker who was born after even the prequels ended.

Prosecutors Compared One Of Sam Bankman-Fried’s Defense Strategies To ‘Dumb And Dumber’

The Sam Bankman-Fried trial is afoot, and it is not going well for him. The head of the disgraced cryptocurrency exchange service FTX (and once-potential presidential candidate) has been raked over the coals as he attempts to deflect charges of fraud. An accomplice and alleged former ex has even ratted him out, with receipts (while dragging his unkempt looks, of course). His defense team doesn’t seem to be helping, as one of their moves was compared by prosecutors to one of the silliest movies of the ‘90s.

Among the allegations against Bankman-Fried is that he and his team siphoned billions of dollars from FTX customer accounts, then used them to pay for losses at his sister company, hedge fun Alameda Research, in the wake of cryptocurrency’s crash last year. Per NBC News, Bankman-Fried’s attorneys claimed that this wasn’t the same as stealing.

“If you find that FTX customers, after depositing funds with FTX, received a credit to transact on the FTX exchange and therefore received the right to withdraw an equivalent amount of funds at a later time upon request, that is insufficient to establish that they were deprived of property,” the defense team wrote in a note to the jury.

For one thing, though, customers weren’t able to retrieve their funds as both FTX and Alamadea were imploding. Prosecutors argued as much, calling their claim “untethered to the facts of the case,” adding that a “credit to obtain funds at a later date, if such funds are ultimately available, is clearly not the same, or as valuable, as the money or property itself.”

They also added a footnote, which read, “A popular movie from the 1990s illustrates the point: a briefcase, once filled with money, is not the same as a briefcase later filled with IOUs.”

That, of course, is a nod to Dumb and Dumber, in which [spoiler?] Jim Carrey and Jeff Daniels’ Lloyd Christmas and Harold Dunne return a briefcase that was once filled with cash — which is now packed with IOUs from them, promising to return the money they’d already spent on things like loud tuxes.

“That’s as good as money, sir,” Lloyd helpfully explains.

In short, if you’ve been accused of fraud on a massive scale, it’s best if your legal team choses a defense that isn’t reminiscent of a movie where a guy has an epic gastrointestinal meltdown.

Keanu Reeves Got A Serious Bass Lesson Courtesy Of RHCP’s Flea While On A Movie Set

Keanu Reeves might be best known for his acting, but what some might not know is that he also played bass in a band called Dogstar. Because of this, Reeves appeared in a new video titled “Don’t Quit Your Day Dream” for Fender’s YouTube channel.

During it, he discussed how he got some practice tips from none other than Flea of the Red Hot Chili Peppers.

“I remember one time I was doing a film, and Flea was in it, or I was in a film with Flea,” Reeves said. “And I remember there was a house, and there [were] amps and instruments and stuff like that.”

“And I was like, ‘Hey, Flea, can you give me a lesson?’” he added. “And he was like, ‘Sure, man!’ And he was like [bass solo]. And I was like, ‘Alright, so?’ And he was like, ‘Just feel it, man. Just play.’ And I was like, ‘Yeah.’”

Reeves and Flea both appeared together in the movie My Own Private Idaho back in 1991. That same year was when Dogstar began, with the band running until 2002. Snoop Dogg Hilariously Revealed That He Has Weed Connects In Most Countries, Thanks To His Global Friends

Snoop Dogg made a recent appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live, where he had an interesting reveal about his weed habits. The conversation started after Kimmel asked Snoop about how he helped comedian Mike Epps find weed in Iceland.

This led to the rapper pointing out that he has a ton of connections in nearly every country.

“Well, last time I checked I was the plug to your plug,” Snoop said. “I’m the connect. It’s good to have friends that have friends that are international and global and able to get you medicated and dedicated no matter where you at.”

Kimmel then directly asked if Snoop Dogg knew people to get weed from in countries like Ireland, Mexico, and many more. He answered yes to all… Except for one. The only place that he doesn’t have access to is (possibly) North Korea, for obvious reasons.

“How many days were you in North Korea?” Kimmel asked.

“I was over there for about maybe seven or eight days,” Snoop responded. “I did a song with an artist named Psy… We went over there and did a few things.” However, upon Kimmel’s correction, Snoop soon realized they were likely in South Korea.

“Ain’t they the same?” he asked, as both of them laughed.

His spot on the talk show was tied to the release of his new cookbook, which is out on November 14.

How Much Are Bad Bunny ‘Most Wanted Tour’ Tickets?

Earlier this week, Bad Bunny announced his Most Wanted Tour — with the North American dates taking place next year. Fans interested in getting tickets can currently enter Ticketmaster’s Verified Fan Registration program until Sunday, October 22 at 11:59 p.m. PT. However, given the rising costs of tickets for concerts, especially when it comes to large-scale artists, many might be wondering just how much Bad Bunny’s will be.

Here’s what to know.

Right now, the official costs for Bad Bunny’s Most Wanted Tour are yet to be announced. However, from a best guess, CNBC reported that last year, the average ticket on resale sites cost $225. This could be lower or higher though, obviously, depending on where you want your seats to be.

The numbers were also based on data from Seatgeek, so other sites like StubHub could be charging more — especially given the rise in scalpers. Out of all the artists, Bad Bunny ranked in 3rd place for the most expensive tickets on the list.

Hopefully, fans have provided themselves with a little bit of time to save up. For those who also aren’t able to grab a ticket through the Ticketmaster show, his Most Wanted Tour is still months away, so there’s still a chance.
