If you’ve ever stayed in a hotel, you know there’s an additional lock you can latch as an added layer of protection. But sometimes weird things happen that make us rethink the comfort and security many of us take for granted. TikTok user TayBeepBoop had a disturbing experience when a hotel front desk person attempted to enter her room while she was inside. Some readers may find the story to be unsettling but it’s a powerful reminder of exactly why situational awareness and caution are so important in today’s world.

Tay, obviously frightened, uploaded clips from the event on her TikTok page, which has since garnered 6 million views. In the video, which is mostly the floor, door and bed, you can hear the man outside of her room knocking loudly asking to be let inside.

Tay asks the man repeatedly why he attempted to walk into her room using the hotel key to which the man explains there’s a problem with the woman’s car. There’s only one problem. Tay doesn’t own a car and is only in town on business where she did not rent a car to get around town, relying only on other modes of transportation. So, what the heck was the man doing at her door?

Tay was staying at the hotel alone and made sure to latch the additional lock on her hotel room door, which is the only thing that prevented this hotel staff member from getting into her room. Since the situation was so scary and went on for quite some time according to her video, she called friends on FaceTime to be a witness and help comfort her. Eventually the man leaves after repeated attempts to get the scared woman to open the door and Tay was able to get a male business partner to escort her safely to another hotel.

But the comments were filled with stories from women who have had similar experiences. Many people explained the danger of admitting you’re alone upon check-in, while other commenters sympathized with the woman not thinking to call the police right away. With people traveling more as COVID-19 restrictions subside, there could be a greater chance for things like this happening so it’s best to be prepared and err on the side of caution when traveling alone.

Women on the Road has several tips for hotel safety including making sure your door lock works, putting a chair under the handle of the door or buying a rubber door stop. The site also highlights the importance of locking your windows if they open and not opening the door for people you don’t know.

Another site geared towards safety is Solo Female Traveler and it recommends getting a floor higher in the hotel to make it more of a hassle for someone from outside to break in. It, too, reiterates the importance of locking the additional lock in the hotel room while you’re inside.

While it’s statistically unlikely you’ll be a victim of a hotel robbery or whatever was happening with Tay, her experience is a reminder to research hotels and practice caution when traveling. Always, always, lock the deadbolt or chain.

Death Grips have ended their four-year-long tour hiatus with a substantial North American run. Fans of the musicians were thrilled to finally get the chance to see the act perform songs such as “System Blower,” “No Love,” and “Giving Bad People Good Ideas.” Despite the technical issues they faced with the Ticketmaster system, things fell together once Death Grips hit the road in May. But not all has been rosy.

According to Complex, there has been more than one unpleasant incident, the latest of which went down during the group’s show on Friday, October 13, in Fayetteville, Arkansas, at JJ’s Live. Death Grips walked off the stage mid-show after concertgoers began tossing items at the entertainers.

As one person on social media described it: “So apparently, at the Death Grips show in AR tonight, they just left mid-set because kids kept throwing sh*t at them. What is with people acting like this? Bands are not robots, and getting pelted with sh*t hurts. If you were moshing like you’re supposed to, this wouldn’t happen.”

In the video captured by one attendee, frontman Stefan Burnett can be seen throwing down the microphone and immediately exiting the stage.

At this time, it doesn’t appear that Death Grips nor the hosting venue has shared a statement regarding the incident.

Cheerleading is supposed to be a team activity. Most squads have anywhere from 10 to 20 cheerleaders and some have even more than that. But one squad in Nebraska had just four girls, and less than two weeks before the Nebraska State Cheer and Dance Championships, all but one cheerleader had quit.

Most kids would’ve followed suit so close to a big competition and without teammates, but Katrina Kohel, a senior at Morrill High School, decided she was still going to compete—even if it meant she would have to do it alone. Talk about being brave in the face of disappointment. This girl decided she was going to cheer in the competition and she did, without much care for what others thought.

The competition wasn’t just the next town over. It was five hours away, so Kohel and her coach, April Ott, really had to mull it over before committing to making that drive, according to Business Insider. In the end, the teen decided that she didn’t want to just sit in the crowd or stay home; she wanted to perform the routine she spent so much time learning. But the routine required the entire squad, so before they could make the trip, they had to figure out how to make it a one-person routine.

“I’ve put a lot of time into cheer. It’s just always been a part of who I am, so I didn’t want to end on that note. I wanted to go out on a high one. For that to come true, I didn’t want to end it just by going to watch state. I wanted to compete.” Kohel told Business Insider. So the lone cheerleader and her coach got to work redoing the routine so it made sense with just one person cheering.

The pair told the Omaha World-Herald that they had to rework the whole performance in a week and a half. It was really a battle of sheer will since Kohel was determined to do her best on the mat without her team. Kohel admitted to the outlet that she was nervous, but no one would have known it.

“She was completely confident the whole week that we practiced,” Ott told Business Insider. “It was just 100% confidence, and she just owned it.”

This cheerleader was absolutely unstoppable and she had her family’s full support. Even Ott’s daughter, who was previously a cheerleader at the same high school, tagged along to cheer her on. Kohel’s grandparents stood in for her parents because her brother had a state wrestling tournament and her parents are the coaches. But don’t worry, they were able to see her cheer through Facebook Live.

Support didn’t only come from her family and coach, as other cheerleaders piled into her section and cheered for the brave solo cheerleader. Darin Boysen, executive director of the Nebraska Coaches Association, told the Omaha World-Herald that this was the first time a cheerleader competed alone.

But she didn’t just compete—she placed 8th out of 12 squads, which is the highest Morrill High School has placed in the last three years.

“It’s almost overwhelming, the amount of support I got from all of them,” Kohel explained to Business Insider. “The whole arena was cheering me on. It wasn’t just one little section—it was the whole arena.”

Could Joe Jonas and Sophie Turner be walking back their plans to divorce? According to Page Six, this is a possibility. Since news broke of their filing in September, the couple has swung into overdrive to move the process along as quickly as possible. The last major update on their timeline occurred back on October 10, after the pair finalized their custody agreement for their two young daughters.

However, Page Six has alleged that Jonas has filed to dismiss the petition for dissolution, more simply known as divorce. The reasoning was allegedly their agreement to settle matters privately. It is unclear if Turner has an active case in her home in the UK. As such, even with this report, it’s difficult to say if there’s any validity to this particular claim.

Should one visit Turner’s official Instagram page, her formal statement about their divorce is the first post on display. The note reads, “After four wonderful years of marriage, we have mutually decided to amicably end our marriage. There are many speculative narratives as to why, but, truly, this is a united decision, and we sincerely hope that everyone can respect our wishes for us and our children.”

Tyreek Hill and the Miami Dolphins have been almost unstoppable this year on offense, with the exception of a lopsided loss to the Bills in Buffalo a couple weeks back. Otherwise, the Miami offense has just torched opponents with their speed, which they augment with motion to get their guys moving before the snap and apply incredible pressure to the defense.

On Sunday, the Dolphins got off to a rare slow start with back-to-back three-and-outs, falling behind 14-0 to the Carolina Panthers. From there, they hit their stride and rattled off three straight touchdown drives to restore order and reclaim a 21-14 advantage going into halftime, with the third of those touchdowns being Hill absolutely torching a Carolina DB on a go route. After he got into the end zone, Hill went looking for a way to add a little bit extra to his celebration and came across a camera guy with a phone, grabbing it and doing his backflip celebration while holding it.

The phone Tyreek grabbed was that of someone from the NFL UK account, who quickly posted the video to Twitter — which is just a very blurry Hill flipping and then it cuts out. However, they quickly deleted the video, but the internet moves too quickly for that.

We’ll see if Hill catches a fine for this, and that seems likely given the league had the video quickly taken down, which is a shame because this is a pretty creative celebration that could’ve given the NFL some sweet, sweet engagement on social

A few weeks ago, Ja’Marr Chase voiced his frustration at the Bengals offensive struggles by noting they weren’t his fault, issuing a very clear statement on the matter saying he’s “always f**king open.”

A week later, he had 15 catches for 192 yards and three touchdowns in a dominant win against the Cardinals, and reiterated his stance on Twitter with a clever post of a 7-Eleven.

That post was brainstormed on the sideline after one of his touchdowns, as he and the wide receiving corps discussed the best way to lean into the “always open” thing and settled on a very simple post.

The natural extension of that was for Chase to get a deal with 7-Eleven, which he now has in the form of an official merch collaboration with 7-Eleven, featuring an incredible “Always Open” hat that he debuted on Instagram before Sunday’s game.

To take it a step further, Chase also rocked a tremendous 7-Eleven chain during the game against the Seahawks, where he got off to another strong start with five catches for 67 yards in the first half.

Chase might be doing the 7-Eleven/Always Open bit better than any receiver since the last superstar wideout in Cincinnati, Chad Johnson, and his new chain and merch deal with the convenience store giant is a tremendous job of capitalizing on the moment.

Drake has faced a lot of pushback recently over his latest solo album, For All The Dogs. Unfortunately, that’s not where the outrage ends. After his social media spats with Joe Budden and Andrew Tate, he’s decided to lay low for a while.

Still, others, including DJ Vlad, are looking to Drake to make a statement about the ongoing conflict between the Israel and Hamas. Drake’s father, Dennis Graham, seemed to offered a response on his behalf over the decision to stay silent. During an encounter with TMZ Saturday, October 14, Graham shared his thoughts.

When asked if Drake’s Jewish heritage intensified his sadness about the tension in the region, Graham replied, “I’m sure it affects everybody. It’s just totally ridiculous… If you say something about this one, you are going to get criticized. If you say something about someone else, you’re going to get criticized… It’s best to say out of it, especially if you’re someone that’s well known.”

He continued, “Being a celebrity and saying something that favoring one against the other it’s going to come back on you. Just be quiet.”

This isn’t the first time Drake has been called out for being silent on political issues. In July, Ebro Darden referred to Drake’s lack of discussion on Black issues while filming the Apple Music show Rap Life Review, which he later walked back.

For years, Boise State lorded over the Mountain West Conference as one of the dominant non-Power 5 programs in all of college football. The Broncos were annually in the mix for BCS and New Year’s Six bowl games, but in recent years the gap has started to close between Boise and the rest of the conference.

This year, the Broncos are just 3-4, but entered Saturday night still 2-0 in conference play facing a Colorado State team they had never lost to. At halftime, it looked like that streak would continue as Boise led 17-0, but a furious second half comeback saw the Rams claw their way into the game, trailing by six in the closing seconds. Colorado State needed a miracle to snap their losing streak to Boise and got one in the form of a Hail Mary from Brayden Fowler-Nicolosi that got knocked down by the Broncos’ defensive backs, but into the arms of a diving Dallin Holker.

It was great design by the Rams to push two receivers to the back of the end zone with Holker serving as a trailer to hopefully catch a ball being batted down. The plan worked to perfection and in the wee hours of the morning on the East Coast, the best finish of the weekend in college football took place.

To win the game, the Rams still needed to hit their extra point and did just that, sending Fort Collins into pandemonium after their first win over the Broncos in program history.

For how often the conversation between Saturdays focuses on the playoff, expansion, and conference realignment, it’s always a fun reminder how much these games that might not have national attention mean to the guys on the field. Colorado State absolutely was aware of their record vs. Boise and snapping that meant everything to them, making for a wild scene in Fort Collins where the celebration still might be going.

It took almost a year after the incident, but when Chris Rock finally did an extended stand-up bit about that Oscars slap, he didn’t hold back. On Saturday, the beloved late-night show SNL made its triumphant return following the end of the WGA strike. Alum Pete Davidson stepped in as the host while Ice Spice served as the evening’s musical guest. However, they were overshadowed by two notable surprise appearances.

Rumored lovebirds Taylor Swift and Kansas City Chiefs star Travis Kelce made cameos during the show, turning their stay into a full-blown date night around New York City. Swift showed support for her “Karma” collaborator, Ice Spice, by introducing her performance of “In Ha Mood.” Kelce meanwhile joined Davidson in his sketch about the NFL’s recent obsession with Swift after attending several of Kelce’s games.

After leaving the set of the show, the pair was spotted holding hands by Page Six as they made their way to the famed restaurant NOBU. According to the outlet’s sources, their pubic displays of affection did not end there. On several other occasions, they also exchanged kisses.

“Everyone was in a great mood and having a great time. [Taylor] was seen chatting it up with the night’s musical guest, Ice Spice, and her friends,” said one insider.
