A Chlöe Fan Got Dumped At The Singer’s Concert, So Chlöe Herself Came Through With Some Encouragement

A concert can be an emotional experience for fans, especially if it’s one of their favorite artists they’re seeing live. Emotions will definitely run high if you get dumped at a show, which is just what happened to one Chlöe fan recently. Chlöe was there for support, though, offering encouragement when she heard the news.

In a tweet shared last night (August 29), the fan wrote, “I just got dumped at @ChloeBailey concert [teary-eyed emoji] [crying emoji] she was a bad b*tch tho!! Bro just blew my night fr.” Chlöe quote-tweeted the post and added, “wtf. better off without him. onto the next!!! love you boo.”

At this point, the fan saw an opportunity and took it, replying to Chlöe, “ayo listen, if yall wanna make feel better, go stream my music,” along with a link to their Spotify artist page. Another user expressed hope that the fan enjoyed the concert regardless of the relationship status shift and she responded, “LOVVVVEEEDDD EVERY SECOND.”

Meanwhile, Chlöe recently appeared to address pregnancy rumors surrounding sister Halle Bailey, saying, “Y’all better keep my sister’s name out your mouth, thank you. Amen, hallelujah. ‘Bout to get me riled the hell up.” Somebody off camera said, “We don’t play about Halle.” Chlöe added, “No. Like, what the heck? Period.”

Doja Cat’s ‘Scarlet’ Cover Art Is Almost Exactly The Same As A Metal Album Set For Release On The Same Day

Last night (August 29), Doja Cat shared the cover art for her upcoming album Scarlet; While it’s fair to doubt whether this is the actual cover art given how many times Doja has changed her mind about the project, the same image appears on her official website, so it seems to be legit. Some have noticed, though, that the art is pretty much exactly the same as the cover of another album, an album that’s even coming out on the same day as Scarlet.

Pop Crave points out that spider paintings appear on the cover of both Scarlet and metal band Chaver’s upcoming album, Of Gloom, which, like Scarlet, is set for release on September 22. (Here’s Chaver’s announcement post from July 29, and here’s Doja’s from yesterday.)

There are some subtle differences between the two spiders, like the shape and position of some legs and appendages, and the shape of the fluid drop above the spider’s head. One painting isn’t just an edited version of the other, as they appear to be two distinct, albeit strikingly similar, artworks. There are more similarities than differences, though, including the fact that both covers were created by the same artist, Dusty Ray, who Chaver credited in their announcement post and who Doja credited in an Instagram Story post.

So far, neither Doja, Chaver, nor Ray have shared a public comment about the similarity between the album covers.

Scarlet is out 9/22 via Kemosabe Records/RCA Records. Find more information here.

Katy Kirby Explores Artifice On Her Glimmering New Song ‘Cubic Zirconia’

Katy Kirby was on our 2021 list of Indie Artists To Watch thanks to her hypnotic debut album Cool Dry Place. She’s toured with acts like Sun June, Ada Lea, and more; now she’s back with a new song after signing to the label Anti-.

“Cubic Zirconia” has Kirby’s signature charm and tranquil energy. In a statement, she explained that the glimmering track is about love, admiration, and diamonds. Read what she said:

“I’ve been trying to write this song for nearly four years, but it only came into focus for me when I fell in love with a girl for the first time. It’s an attempt to say something that I don’t think I’m smart enough to articulate outside of the song — something about how much I admire when someone is unembarrassed of being explicit about the cosmetic and aesthetic choices they make for themselves. Why wouldn’t you love the little tricks of their trade — the way they wear makeup, the clothes and mannerisms that make them feel safest and most themselves — why wouldn’t these little tricks be the most endearing artifacts of their inner essence? If you loved someone, why would you not love those choices? It’s an honor to get that close to someone — close enough to see how they construct the image of themselves with which they move through the world as best they can (as we all do). Why wouldn’t that be enough?

Cubic Zirconia! A lab-grown diamond. A salute to whatever the world looks down on as “artificial” — even a defense of artifice. It seems like naturalness is not only a dangerously vague and subjective concept, but that whenever those concepts get invoked, the invoker is almost invariably being manipulative or even malicious. Insofar as the line between authentic/fake, natural/unnatural, organic/synthetic artificial/genuine is hopelessly thin. Insofar as it’s a line that shifts constantly and doesn’t seem to be in anyone’s interest except the people who’ve decided that they’re the most qualified to draw that line. What a useless concept. What an extremely suspicious concept to leverage in assessing someone’s worth. What a sanctimonious little scam!”

Don Jr. Wants People To Stop Buying MAGA Merch From People Who Aren’t Him

One of Donald Trump’s selling points to the American people is that he’s (allegedly!) a great and unimaginably wealthy businessman. But what if he’s not? What if there’s a reason he’s constantly begging his sometimes cash-strapped supporters for money, asking them to do things like help fix his private plane? On Monday, his eldest son even spent part of his latest podcast begging people to stop buying MAGA merch from people who aren’t him.

As per HuffPost, a reasonably clam Don Jr. told viewers interested in buying things like t-shirts emblazoned with his father’s mugshot to avoid third-party sellers, who he accused of “lining their own pockets” rather than giving it back to his dad (or just him).

“I get other people have made [a] very good living doing the MAGA merch, even if,” he said, but noted that “none of the money actually goes toward the [Trump] campaign or the cause.”

But Don Jr. would never seek to make a profit. After all, “the cause” is more important than capitalism. He claimed he wouldn’t “feel right about profiting” from his dad’s legal woes. Besides, he said, “I’d probably actually get killed in the press, thinking about it now.”

Instead, if Trumpists gave him money instead of those crafty capitalists hawking their own MAGA wares, Don Jr. made a solemn oath to funnel “all of the profits” to his dad’s legal plight, so he could “push back against some of the insanity, the miscarriage of justice.”

Sadly, some weren’t buying Don Jr.’s claims, postulating that this was simply one grifter calling out other grifters.

Don Jr.’s dad currently faces 91 charges across four separate criminal cases. His team has claimed prosecutors are working at the behest of President Joe Biden in what amounts to “election interference,” which as it happens is what he’s accused of doing in the case in Georgia.

Who Is The Opener On Arctic Monkeys’ ‘The Car Tour?’

Arctic Monkeys are not an act to miss. The UK band’s shows are unpredictable, and the setlist for this tour contains indie-rock classics like “Do I Wanna Know?,” “505,” “Crying Lightning,” and more. Of course, it’s also packed with tracks from their latest record, 2022’s The Car, being as it’s called The Car Tour.

As the group continues taking stages all over North America, they’re bringing a very special guest as their opener: Dublin’s post-punk group Fontaines DC. They released an album last year as well, titled Skinty Fia, the follow-up to 2020’s A Hero’s Death.

About playing for American audience, Fontaines DC frontman Grian Chatten told Uproxx about what surprises him. “I’m really surprised about how much they connect with our songs which are based on stories of life in Dublin,” he said. “To me, there’s a specificity to our lyrics that I didn’t think would translate as well as it has. And that’s been amazing to see. We played a show in Salt Lake City and I really had no idea what to expect from an audience there, with my preconceptions about what people who lived in Salt Lake City were going to be like. But it kicked off. That was amazing.”

Sarah Jessica Parker Has Adopted Shoe The Kitten From ‘And Just Like That’

Sometimes, great things can come from horrible people. For instance, in this season of And Just Like That, villain Che Diaz did one thing right by rescuing a sweet little kitten and convincing Carrie to adopt him. See? Not all comedians are bad. Just some.

Taking a page from Taylor Swift’s book, Sarah Jessica Parker adopted the little kitten from the set, and he made his grand Instagram debut today.

“His off-camera name is Lotus,” Parker posted on Instagram. “He and his siblings were all given botanical names when they were rescued as newborns by the @cthumanesociety. Adopted officially by the Parker/Broderick family in April 2023. He joins Rémy and Smila whom we adopted in May 2022. If he looks familiar, that’s because he is,” Parker noted, nodding to the cat’s cameo on And Just Like That. The cat had more screen time than Kim Cattrall.

On the show, the cat’s name is Shoe which…isn’t the best name. So Parker renamed him Lotus. Honestly, she could have done better. Some potential options: Sarah Jessica Paw-ker, And Just Like Cat, or Catthew Broderick. Any of these could have worked.

Now that season two is over and season three is in the works, we can hope for even more Shoe/Lotus next season. And maybe he will pee on Che Diaz’s bomber jacket.

How Much Will The iPhone 15 Phones Cost?

As summer winds down and fall begins, there are a few things we can always count on. One is that Starbucks will bring back Pumpkin Spice Lattes much too early and that CVS will have all of the Halloween decorations out by the last day of August. But one (more expensive) guarantee is that Apple will release something in September that they will convince you you need to buy. Last year, a lot of people did not.

But with autumn comes a new iPhone release, and the iPhone 15 is coming in right on time on September 15th (for pre-orders). According to Forbes, the upcoming series is expected to start at $799, and it only goes up from there.

iPhone 15 Plus will start at $899, while the iPhone 15 Pro starts at $1,099, and finally, the iPhone 15 Pro Max will begin at $1,299, roughly the cost of 13 Gen 1 iPod Shuffles. Those were the days!

While the prices have not yet been confirmed, Bloomberg confirmed that Apple is expected to raise iPhone prices, so it’s likely they will be in that range. Along with the prince changes, the new phones will have an updated camera while introducing a USB-C charging port, so you will need to find a way to organize even more cables in your life. Good luck!

Oneohtrix Point Never Shares A Cinematic New Single And Video Called ‘A Barely Lit Path’

Oneohtrix Point Never is mostly known for his production work for pop giants like Charli XCX and The Weeknd as well as indie darlings like Soccer Mommy. The other week, he announced his new album titled Again, the follow-up to 2020’s Magic Oneohtrix Point Never.

OPN — née Daniel Lopatin — shared the lead single on Tuesday, August 29. “A Barely Lit Path” is a sprawling, cinematic journey with an intense, immersive mood created by an unlikely mix of vibrating synthesizers and a poignant orchestra. To make it even weirder, it’s the closing track of the record. It comes with a music video that captures the chaos of the track.

Earlier this year, Lopatin released eight songs for the soundtrack of part of Disney+’s animated series Star Wars: Visions Vol. 2.

Last year, OPN worked with Sophie Allison for the Soccer Mommy album Sometimes, Forever. “Sophie finds magical ways to complicate her bubblegum melodies with a subtle weirdness: a twisted chord, a bent texture, some dark comedy,” he said about the “Clean” singer. “It’s addictive to listen to all that sweet and sour stuff she has going on, so I just tried to amplify that.”

Again is out 9/29 via Warp Records. Find out more information here.

A Judge Has Tossed That Lawsuit Over Ana De Armas Not Being In The Beatles Film ‘Yesterday’

A whole heckuva lot has happened in the last year-and-a-half, so you could be forgiven for forgetting a truly Mad Libs piece of news from early 2022: People were suing the distributors of that Beatles film Yesterday because it didn’t have any Ana de Armas. Granted, the plaintiffs did have a case: The actress was featured, albeit briefly, in the film’s trailer. Alas, her scenes wound up being cut. Now these Ana de Armas fans have some more bad news.

As per The Hollywood Reporter, U.S. District Judge Stephen Wilson tossed the case on Monday. Wilson’s said the plaintiffs couldn’t blame Universal, who distributed the film worldwide, for them renting the film mistakenly — which one of them did twice:

But the court found that Woulfe, who rented the movie a second time on Google Play under the belief that de Armas could appear in a director’s cut, “lacks standing” to bring a suit because his “injury is self-inflicted.” Wilson concluded Woulfe didn’t watch Yesterday because of statements from Universal that de Armas appears in the movie. He also found that there was no reason to believe that the “version of Yesterday they accessed on Google Play would be a different version of the movie” than the one they watched the first time.

De Armas was originally cast as a love interest for the lead character, played by Himesh Patel, a man who wakes up one day to find that no one in the world has ever heard of The Beatles nor any of their beloved songs. The plaintiffs were seeking $5 million in damages after paying $3.99 per rental.

Has the case gone forward — and had the plaintiffs won — it would have opened the flood gates for people to sue movie studios for false advertising in trailers. Perhaps a trailer that made a comedy seem funnier than it is could have led to a lawsuit. But for now, the people who cut movie ads can sleep better tonight.

Nick Cannon’s Brother Admitted He Sometimes Uses Google To Remember The Names Of Nick’s 12 Kids

Nick Cannon is famous for a lot of things: rapping, comedy, hosting television shows, acting, and having 12 children. He talks about the latter a lot, whether he’s saying he feels like he can impregnate the whole world or explaining his complicated Father’s Day experiences.

Now, his brother, Gabriel Cannon, has even touched on the topic in an interview with Entertainment Weekly. When asked if he can name all of Nick’s kids, he answered, “I haven’t met them, but did y’all see what happened with him? He messed up [naming] all his kids, so I’m not even gonna attempt. I’m just uncle. It’s easy.”

When asked if he has a note on his phone to remind himself of the names, he said, “That or Google. They’re all on the internet.”

The slip-up he referred to is when Nick was asked to name all 12 of his children on The Howard Stern Show and left out his daughter Onyx.

In December, Nick and his wife welcomed the latest baby, Halo Marie Cannon. “December 14 2022. Our lives are forever changed,” the mother, Alyssa Scott, captioned her Instagram video. “Zen is in every breath I take. I know his spirit was with us in the room that morning. I know he is watching down on us. He shows me signs everyday. I will hold onto this memory forever. I will remember the sound of Nicks voice saying ‘it’s a girl’ and the look of everything we’ve been through flash across his face. I will remember the sound of her crying out with her first breath and feeling her heartbeat against mine. My sweet girl, I got my surprise!! We love you Halo Marie Cannon!”
