AMC’s Dark Windsgrew its viewership (gaining more exposure on Netflix didn’t hurt) for the third season of the stellar crime drama. As inspired by Tony Hillerman’s Sinister Pig and Dance Hall of the Dead novels, the series leaned hard into horror as Joe Leaphorn (Zahn McClarnon) grappled with a mythological monster while tackling a case of two missing Navajo boys. Meanwhile, he was still feeling domino effects from his son’s death and his subsequent handling of the B.J. Vines situation, which was causing untenable friction at home with wife Emma (Deanna Allison).
After an eventful season finale, at least Leaphorn can consider himself freed of the B.J. Vines investigation, although his marriage appears to be a permanent casualty. Meanwhile, that Border Patrol gig for Bernadette Manuelito (Jessica Matten) did not go as planned, and she resurfaced at the Navajo reservation, a development that sets up more questions regarding herself and Jim Chee (Kiowa Gordon). Plenty more Hillerman stories about these characters are also waiting to be told, so of course that opens up a pressing question.
Will There Be A Dark Winds Season 4?
For sure.Variety first broke the news of AMC running with a renewal back in March ahead of the third season premiere. Zahn McClarnon will debut as director for the forth season premiere, and George R.R. Martin will surely remain thrilled about his most satisfying TV producing gig in several years.
The next season will be based upon Tony Hillerman’s The Ghostway novel, and showrunner John Wirth revealed to Collider that another Navajo cultural tradition will come to the forefront:
It deals with the Navajo experience of ghost sickness, which has to do with what happens to a person, in their tradition, if they are exposed to a dead body or if they’re with a person when the person dies. I’m not a Navajo, and I’m not an expert in all things Navajo, but my understanding is, if you are with a person when they breathe their last breath, that breath goes into you, and you become ghost sick, which requires a ceremony to cure you of ghost sickness.”
The fourth season is currently in the thick of filming with McClarnon telling Variety that he has “already done my director’s cut for the [premiere] episode.” Fingers crossed for a 2026 return of Dark Winds.
Produced by Kenny Beats, “Ironic” finds TiaCorine flexing in her trademark, laid-back-but-aggressive flow. “Let’s get fly and smoke some chronic / That sh*t be so ironic, everything I do iconic / I don’t need it, I just want it / Everything I do one-hunnid / You see us money thumbin’ / Everytime I come through stuntin’,” she brags on the hook.
In the Lyrical Lemonade-produced video, Freaky T employs a trippy Rube-Goldberg machine to make a cup of tea, hangs out in the bathroom with her friends, and balances atop a building emblazoned with the song title while showing off her grills. T’s makeup is the star of the show with its nods to the Japanese art of kintsugi, which repairs broken pottery with gold and silver lacquer to preserve and highlight where the original piece was broken and repaired. The idea is to highlight the object’s history; likewise, the Japanese-American TiaCorine often highlights her own history and heritage in her music.
Tia hasn’t announced a new album just yet, but you have to think one is on the way if she’s releasing all these singles. Stay tuned.
Green Day’s origins stretch farther back than Blink-182’s, but ultimately, both groups would be defining pop-punk bands of the early 2000s. There was a stretch during that time, though, where there was a friendly(ish) rivalry between the groups.
In an interview with NME, Blink’s Mark Hoppus spoke about the experience of Green Day opening for Blink on the Pop Disaster Tour, saying, “That was very strange because I grew up listening to Green Day. I literally waited for the day that Dookie came out, and I was in line waiting to buy it. I was a huge fan, then we’re touring with them, but it was a weird thing where Green Day were dipping at the time and Blink were ascendent. We were billed as co-headliners, but Blink were closing every night, and that was a strange sensation for us. Headlining over your idols is a little strange.”
He went on to speak about the sort-of-friendly competition between the two groups:
“We showed up, we thought we were cool, we had a No. 1 record [Take Off Your Pants And Jacket], we were the first punk band to ever have a No. 1 record, Green Day were on their way down for a little bit. We walked in thinking we were hot sh*t and Green Day walked in ready to fight — musically of course, they were super cool to us the whole time.
My wife and Billie [Joe Armstrong]’s wife were great friends. Billie was super nice to us. Then, when it came time to get on stage… It’s like athletes: We could be on different teams, but when we get on the field, we’re going to try and kick your ass.
We didn’t come with that attitude, but they did. They blew us off the stage the first few nights and we were like, ‘Oh sh*t, we have to up our game.’ Then it was this battle back-and-forth about who could put on the better show and who could win people over. It definitely made us a better band. I think I inspired them so much they were like, ‘We have to kill Blink-182 with an awesome album called American Idiot.’”
Over the weekend, Post Malone and Jelly Roll’s Big Ass Stadium Tour rolled into Detroit, Michigan, where they were joined by a local legend. No, not Tim Robinson, although with Friendship out in theaters, you never know. No, it was Eminem, who joined Jelly Roll for a performance of “Lose Yourself.”
“If you can’t tell, that was a childhood dream come f*cking true, Detroit,” Jelly Roll told the sold-out Ford Field crowd, according to Billboard. “This is the greatest show I’ve ever had in my f*king life.” He added that Eminem’s music “helped me through the darkest moments of my life.”
This isn’t the first time Jelly Roll has talked about how much Slim means to him. “It’s by far the most unreal thing that’s happened in my career yet,” he said on the Spout Podcast about collaborating with the rapper on his 2024 album The Death Of Slim Shady (Coup De Grâce). “There are probably five people on Earth I’d meet that I would be jittery around. It’d be [Garth] Brooks, James Taylor, Bob Seger, and Eminem. People I grew up knowing every word of every song they’ve ever released.”
You can watch Eminem and Jelly Roll perform “Lose Yourself” here.
If you’re a TikTok user, you’ve probably heard Connie Francis’ 1962 song “Pretty Little Baby” recently, as it’s been going viral on the platform. Francis, now 87 years old, recently caught wind of her renewed success, and initially, she wasn’t quite sure what to make of it.
“My thanks to TikTok and its members for the wonderful, and oh so unexpected, reception given to my 1961 recording ‘Pretty Little Baby’. The first I learned of it was when [Concetta Records president Ron Roberts] called to advise me that I had ‘a viral hit’.
Clearly out of touch with present day music statistics terminology, my initial response was to ask: ‘What’s that?’
Thank you everyone!”
As Billboard notes, the song, a non-single from the 1962 album Connie Francis Sings Second Hand Love, has been heard in many TikTok videos featuring users lip-syncing along to the lyrics, “You can ask the flowers / I sit for hours / Telling all the bluebirds / The bill and coo birds / Pretty little baby, I’m so in love with you.”
During the week ending April 10, the song had about 17,000 official on-demand US streams a week, but more recently, it rose to 2.4 million. The publication notes the streams continue to rise and the track could make its Hot 100 debut.
It wouldn’t be Francis’ first chart hit, as she has three No. 1 hits to her name: “Everybody’s Somebody’s Fool,” “My Heart Has A Mind Of Its Own” (both in 1960), and “Don’t Break The Heart That Loves You” (1962).
Keeping up with new music can be exhausting, even impossible. From the weekly album releases to standalone singles dropping on a daily basis, the amount of music is so vast it’s easy for something to slip through the cracks. Even following along with the Uproxx recommendations on a daily basis can be a lot to ask, so every Monday we’re offering up this rundown of the best new music this week.
This week saw new Rihanna at last and Rico Nasty following the beat of her own drum. Yeah, it was a great week for new music. Check out the highlights below.
Finally, new Rihanna music! It’s not a new album: “Friend Of Mine” is a straightforward (it’s mostly Rihanna repeating the phrase “Feel like a friend of mine”) Smurfs movie cut, but at the very least, it’s just nice to hear her voice again.
Latto — “Somebody”
After last summer’s Sugar Honey Iced Tea, Latto is back with her first new music of the year. Is a new album coming? TBD, but in the meantime, we’ll take the smooth “Somebody.”
Giveon — “Rather Be”
We got some new Giveon in February, and now he’s hopefully building up to an album with another single last week, the lush and romantic “Rather Be.”
The “Messy” singer is so far turning in a strong 2025 after her viral breakout last year. Her latest is last week’s “One Thing,” and as Uproxx’s Josh Kurp notes, “The chorus packs a punch, not unlike the swing Young takes while sparring in a boxing ring in the song’s music video.”
Jin — “Don’t Say You Love Me”
BTS’ reunion isn’t here yet, but it hasn’t felt like much of a break with group members releasing new music as often as they’ve been. The latest comes from Jin, who dropped the vulnerable “Don’t Say You Love Me” last week.
Ekkstacy — “If I Had A Gun”
Canadian favorite Ekkstacy was nominated for Breakthrough Artist Or Group Of The Year at this year’s Juno Awards, a sign that he’s been on an upward trajectory lately. That carried on last week with a new album, Forever, which quickly followed last year’s self-titled effort.
Rico Nasty — “Crash”
Rico Nasty is on famed pop-punk label Fueled By Ramen now, and the versatile rapper isn’t afraid to let that side of herself shine through, like on last week’s Lethal highlight “Crash.”
Petey USA — “As Two People Drift Apart”
Petey USA (formerly just Petey) shared “Model Train Town” and “The Milkman” earlier this year, and now the news fans of the indie/TikTok star have been waiting for his here: A new album, The Yips, is coming. “As Two People Drift Apart” is a dynamic and intense preview.
Little Simz — “Young”
Simz said that “Young,” her latest single, sees her tapping “into a character” and is a “moment of lightheartedness.” She’s spot-on there, as the track has a fun, loose energy to it and sees her doing more talking than rapping.
According to Megan Thee Stallion, she has the “best ass on Instagram.” However, the “Whenever” rapper’s juicy derrière is also a hit on TikTok. So much so, that it is now a part of a viral fundraising campaign on the platform.
Megan Thee Stallion is known for her magnificent twerk videos. She even created a few twerk challenges in the past. Hell, Meg even hosted a bootcamp inspired by twerking. But due to her hectic schedule, a new clip of Megan throwing it in a circle hasn’t been shared in age. For now supporters are reliving the old twerk glory days by recycling past uploads. One national park has jumped on the trend posting videos of Megan Thee Stallion twerking onstage during previous Hot Girl Summer Tour shows put for a good cause.
In an attempt to bring attention to its fundraising efforts following proposed budget cuts to the National Park Service, Arizona’s Petrified Forest National Park has inserted these NSFW clips (viewable here and here) before their pleads on TikTok.
Read part of Petrified Forest National Park’s fundraising statement below. To learn more about the National Park Services here.

Since shaving her hair off and flurry of new tattoos, the “Crack” rapper has undergone a massive visual rebrand. Now, Doja Cat’s beauty serves as the inspiration behind a new viral plushie. Over a TikTok, visual artist and crocheter Naomi Minor (or Naomi Cartoons) turned Doja Cat into an intriguing plushie. But, there’s a twist. The design depicts Doja Cat as if she existed within the Raving Rabbids video game series.
In the now-viral clip (viewable here), showed off her creation with a sinner grin. Well, shortly after the video was uploaded to the platform, Doja Cat fans showered the creator with compliments.
One even chimed, “Doja would love this.”
The supporter was spot on because shortly after, Doja gave her stamp of her approval
“Where do I buy it,” asked Doja in the comment section.
“Omg,” replied Naomi. “It was a custom order that someone had requested, but I would love to remake it for you.”
Now, users across TikTok have launched a countdown until the real Doja Cat and plushie Doja Cat are united. Unfortunately, that might take a while. Over on Naomi’s website custom order could take up to 5 weeks. However, in a behind-the-scenes video (viewable here), Naomi outlined the 10 and a half hour process of creating the beloved Doja Cat plushie. So, there is hope.
Comedy group Please Don’t Destroy (which consists of Ben Marshall, John Higgins, and Martin Herlihy) have been notably missing for the majority of Saturday Night Live‘s current season. Yesterday (May 17), the collective made their comeback with a sidesplitting sketch starring Bad Bunny and Scarlett Johansson.
Please Don’t Destroy explored what missing really looks like. In the hilarious comedy musical “First Class,” the group set off on a vacation courtesy of ScarJo. But as Please Don’t Destroy lounges in first class they grow nervous after learning their flight from LaGuardia was bound for Newark International Airport.
Given the nerve wrecking updates out of the United Airlines hub about delays and understaffed aviation crews, the quick trip takes a turn for the worse. After a blackout of their seat back screen and internal systems, pilot played by Mikey Day begins to panic. He then phones in support from the air traffic control tower. To his surprise the only controller on staff is Bad Bunny, and it is his first day on the job.
However, Bad Bunny pulls out all the stops (including a Google search) to ensure he can help to land the commercial flight safely. Proud of the miracle he was able to pull off, Bad Bunny bursts into song. “I can see you now / You’re on the mainframe / Now glide it, glide it / And land this plane,” he sings.
The bunny may be bad, but his aviation knowledge is great.
