Robert Horry Is Confused By What Travis Scott Meant When Dropping His Name In One Of His Early Hits

Robert Horry has seven NBA championships to his name, but his name has been used in song lyrics way more than seven times.

The former Houston Rocket, Los Angeles Laker, and San Antonio Spur joined Matt Barnes and Stephen Jackson’s All The Smoke last week. With around six minutes left in the nearly 90-minute episode, Barnes asked Horry to choose the “best Robert Horry name-drop in a song.”

Horry giggled before launching into his answer(s).

“I’m in so many damn songs,” Horry said. “I remember, we were at a light, and this dude pulls up next to us, and we just happened to have the windows down. We was in Pensacola, Florida, and dude was playing Kevin Gates. Kevin Gates named my name, and it’s a white guy in a Challenger — bopping his head.”

Horry described being in the passenger’s seat as his ex-wife was driving, and the White Man Driving A Challenger in question doing a double-take when Gates dropped Horry’s name in a bar.

“My current wife hates this song. I love this song. ‘Don’t you open up that window,’” Horry added, singing Travis Scott’s “Antidote.” He continued, “My wife, every time, she [says], ‘Is there something you need to tell me?’”

Someone off-camera asked Horry if he’s gotten in trouble with his wife for the song. He confirmed he has not gotten in trouble, but he still might playfully confront Scott about it.

“I met Travis Scott once. He was a huge Rockets fan — still is to this day — and I met him. I almost wanted to say, ‘Man, why you put me in that song? And what you mean by three-peat three h*es the other week?’ It’s just fun, man,” Horry said.

Horry additionally recalled a game in New Orleans during his playing days when he “ran up to Lil Wayne and said, ‘Dude, I’m honored, man, that you even know who I am.” And while his wife might not necessarily be the biggest fan of hearing her husband’s name in racy rap lyrics, he said his kids “are more proud of it than I am.”

Scott’s 2015 seminal hit “Antidote” features Scott rap-singing in the first verse, “I just hit a three-peat / F*cked three h*es I met this week (Robert Horry).”

Last month, Scott previewed his highly anticipated forthcoming album Utopia for the Houston Astros, so at least if one of them is name-checked, he’ll have a heads up. There is no official release date for Utopia, but he’s been slowly testing out songs on the presumed tracklist, including one featuring Bad Bunny.

‘Spider-Man: Across The Spider-Verse’ Cut A Post-Credit Fight Scene With Spot

On top of featuring groundbreaking animation and a wildly creative plot, Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse also bucked superhero movie convention by not having a post-credits scene, give that those have practically become a staple in the comic book film genre. However, producers Phil Lord and Christopher Miller have recently revealed that it wasn’t for lack of trying.

According to Lord, a post-credits scene featuring The Spot (Jason Schwartzman) was kicked around, but never made it past the idea stage as the producing team realized that the highly anticipated sequel doesn’t even need an end-credits scene.

“Hard to beat where we left of,” Lord said before walking through The Spot moment that would’ve toyed around with the character’s body full of inter-dimensional portals.

Via IndieWire:

According to Lord and producing partner Chris Miller, the first scene had Spot hanging out at a Spidey villain bar but can’t get a drink because no one will notice him. “And then he finally steals the drink for himself and he pours it down and it all leaks out of his holes,” Lord said. “He’s the dorkiest villain. A great line that Chris wrote, though: ‘Trying to fill a hole in his heart with more holes.’ Not a great method.”

Bucking tradition by not having a post-credits scene clearly hasn’t hurt Across the Spider-Verse. The film is racking up rave reviews and crushing the box office.

Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse is now playing in theaters.

Kid Cudi Got Upset And Called Out Apple Music Over A ‘Really Stressful’ Problem With ‘Porsche Topless’

Kid Cudi just returned with his new single “Porsche Topless.” It arrived after he said that “so much” was coming — an album in the fall, a clothing line, a movie.

Unfortunately, it looks like there was an issue with “Porsche Topless” that he had to address on Twitter — Apple Music put the wrong lyrics to go with the song.

“Hey Guys @AppleMusic,” he tweeted, “I put in the time to write out all my lyrics and send them to u. Its really stressful to see you guys just make up whatever lyrics you want and not include the proper lyrics that were given to you. Please fix PORSCHE TOPLESS so my fans have the correct lyrics. Thanx! Scott.”

Luckily, Apple’s DJ Reflex fixed it soon afterward.

It was revealed in April that Cudi would be starring in and co-producing Hell Naw, Sony Pictures’ “action horror-comedy” produced by Euphoria creator Sam Levinson. “This movie has been five years in the making. I am telling the world now, this film will f*ck you up in all the best ways. I have been a horror fan since I was 7 years old, the first horror movies I ever saw were Night Of The Living Dead and Evil Dead. And from that point on, I was hooked on the feeling of being frightened. I’ve been wanting to get into this world creating my own stories for a long time, and now, and after years of working it out in my head, it’s finally happening,” Cudi said about it.

Emma Stone Is Reborn In The Wonderfully Weird ‘Poor Things’ Trailer

The trailer for Poor Things begins with Willem DaFoe introducing Ramy Youssef to Emma Stone, who is trailed by some sort of duck-dog hyrbid. “Bella, this is Mr. McCandles,” he says. She responds by hitting him in the face with her palm. It only gets weirder from there.

Poor Things comes from director Yorgos Lanthimos and writer Tony McNamara, who previously worked together on Best Picture nominee The Favourite. Stone plays an “expirement” whose “brain and her body are not quite synchronized.” It’s kind of a Frankenstein story, if Frankenstein (FINE, Frankenstein’s Monster) had sex and kicked people in the balls. Count me in!

Here’s the official plot synopsis:

From filmmaker Yorgos Lanthimos and producer Emma Stone comes the incredible tale and fantastical evolution of Bella Baxter (Stone), a young woman brought back to life by the brilliant and unorthodox scientist Dr. Godwin Baxter (Willem Dafoe). Under Baxter’s protection, Bella is eager to learn. Hungry for the worldliness she is lacking, Bella runs off with Duncan Wedderburn (Mark Ruffalo), a slick and debauched lawyer, on a whirlwind adventure across the continents. Free from the prejudices of her times, Bella grows steadfast in her purpose to stand for equality and liberation.

Poor Things comes out on September 8th.

Kim Kardashian Shared The ‘One Thing’ She Learned About Her Time With Pete Davidson (Besides If The BDE Rumors Are True)

After Kim Kardashian and Pete Davidson broke up last August, there were rumors that they “rekindled” their romance at a New York City hotel two months later. It turns out, she was meeting another fella, “Fred,” who probably doesn’t even own a ferry that he bought while stoned. A real drop off.

“What’s so funny is my friends wanted me to meet someone, so we go to New York,” Kardashian said on Hulu’s The Kardashians, according to E! Online. “That’s like my spot, because there’s a private room downstairs… But then on the internet, it was like ‘Kim reconnects with Pete at this place.’” When brother-in-law Scott Disick asked if Davidson was there, she replied, “No. But it was the place that I would go and have my ‘secret dinners’ with Pete.”

Kardashian also revealed what she took away from her time with Davidson (and his BDE). “You obviously learn from every situation,” she said. “And the one thing I learned from my last situation was the media made me feel like I was in like a very serious relationship so quickly. I just want to sneak around a little bit. There’s nothing wrong with wanting to sneak.”

As long as they’re sneaking in the dark. “It’s so weird,” Kardashian confessed. “I can walk out of a photo shoot with 100 people working on set. I can walk out like in a thong. But if it’s, like, you’re there with me [in bed], I’m like, ‘Wait, don’t look at me. Turn the lights off!’”

Well, that explains the sunglasses, at least.

Chris Christie Showed That He Has No Intention Of Taking The High Road After Team Trump Took Swings At His Weight

The 2024 GOP primary race is showing some life after all. At least, the mudslinging promises to be entertaining. And it seems as though this silver lining has emerged with the formal entrance of disgraced ex-New Jersey Governor Chris Christie, who is now swinging back at disgraced ex-President Trump after his completely predictable insults after his pal-turned-adversary entered the race.

Naturally, Trump Sr. was not the only one to get ugly with Christie. Don Jr. lobbed a super mature joke about donuts in Christie’s direction, and Trump Sr. headed over to Truth Social and pushed out a doctored vid of Christie looking like he’s visiting the breakfast buffet while delivering a campaign speech.

Christie appeared on CNN, where Jake Tapper broached the subject and showed the buffet video, and let’s just say that Trump’s former speech coach showed that he’s going to give as “good” as he gets. Relatively speaking of course. “What a child he is. He’s a baby,” Christie bristled. “It’s so childish. It’s so juvenile. He is such a spoiled baby… Whenever you want to criticize him, in any way, that’s the way he responds.”

Additionally, Christie took to Twitter with another swing. “Breaking news… I have struggled with my weight for 20 years,” he wrote. “What I haven’t struggled with is my character. I’ll put that up against Donald Trump’s any day. If that’s the best he’s got, then he’s lost his fastball.”

Clearly, Christie did not decide to take the high road. And you know what? Sadly, swinging back is probably the only way that he can make any headway in the GOP race (something that Marco Rubio can presumably bemoan these days), and more importantly, it’s fun to watch. So, let the games begin.

So I hope that people feel that when they listen to the music, that they feel that when they come and counter with me when I’m around, I definitely have had an opportunity to evolve and grow and to tap into the things that bring me pleasure, the things that perhaps I should rethink and rework. Sometimes it really is just saying, ‘You know what? Let’s get back to the basics and also let’s honor the present.’”

The Wildfire Smoke From Canada Has Forced Chris Stapleton To Postpone A New York Concert

Things in New York City and surrounding areas are pretty intense right now. As massive wildfires in Canada continue to burn, smoke is making its way to the US, especially in and around New York. Chris Stapleton was supposed to perform at St. Joseph’s Health Amphitheater At Lakeview in Syracuse tonight (June 8), but now he’s been forced to reschedule.

A message from Stapleton’s team shared on social media yesterday reads, “Due to the ongoing air conditions in the greater Syracuse area, tomorrow night’s show at @StJosephsAmp will be rescheduled. All previously purchased tickets for the original date will be honored for the new date. We expect to have an update by mid-day June 9th.”

Stapleton’s concert isn’t the first event to be impacted by NYC’s current air quality. Jodie Comer was performing her one-woman Broadway show yesterday but had to stop the show due to breathing difficulties she was experiencing. Meanwhile, the Governors Ball festival is set for this weekend and organizers shared a note yesterday, saying, “We’re closely monitoring the air quality with weather experts and are in close contact with city officials. As always, the health and safety of New Yorkers is our top priority. At this time, the festival is continuing as planned. We are hopeful that conditions will improve in the coming days and are looking forward to a great weekend!”

Jamal Murray Broke Down His Two-Man Game With Nikola Jokic: ‘It’s A Trust And A Feel’

On Wednesday night, Jamal Murray and Nikola Jokic made NBA history as the first teammates to each post 30-point triple-doubles in the same game — postseason or regular season.

The two combined for 66 points, 31 rebounds, and 20 assists as they carried the Nuggets to a 109-94 win in Game 3 over the Miami Heat, reclaiming the advantage in the series after blowing a fourth quarter lead at home in Game 2. Murray, who struggled in that loss, bounced back in a big way by scoring 20 of his 34 points in the first half to help Denver wrangle control of the game from Miami by the halftime break. Jokic had a first half double-double, but really took over to start the third quarter as the Nuggets extended their lead and never gave it back.

The catalyst for Denver’s offense waking up was the two-man game of Jokic and Murray, as the two stars are as lethal as it comes working off of each other. Whether in pick-and-rolls or handoff actions, they are always in sync and are incredibly good at creating space for each other to thrive. After the game, Murray was asked about that two-man action and broke down how it has little to do with there being actual playcalls, but just “a trust and a feel” between the two stars to know what the other is going to do and what they want you to do.

It’s fascinating to hear Murray talk about how it’s not just reading how defenses are guarding their actions, but about how they’re also always in tune with how the other is feeling on the court. They know when one of them is dragging a bit and the other needs to pick up the slack, or if one’s feeling particularly aggressive or hot the other will look to make sure to feed them and keep that going. It’s the kind of partnership that can only come from years of experience, which is something Denver’s stars have that few others in the league can replicate.

It’s also why they are so hard to defend, because there isn’t often a specific play they’re trying to run when they work a pick-and-roll or handoff, but just reading and reacting — both to the defense and their co-star. Defending an action without a defined endpoint is incredibly difficult, and when they’re at their best, Jokic and Murray both have the patience to reset and run it again until they get the look they want. That was the case in Game 3 when they controlled the game on that end of the floor, and even with strong defenders in Jimmy Butler and Bam Adebayo doing their best, there’s just not much a defense can do when both have that good feeling.

Pup Release B-Side Tracks From Their ‘The Unraveling’ Album, ‘How To Live With Yourself’ And ‘Smoke Screen’

Pup released their album The Unraveling Of PupTheBand in April 2022, but spoiler alert: they haven’t unraveled at all. The group embarked on a co-headlining tour with Joyce Manor this March, and on Wednesday, June 7, they dropped two new singles.

“COUPLE NEW SONGS OUT TODAY, ‘How To Live With Yourself’ and ‘Smoke Screen.’ B-sides from ‘The Unraveling,’” the Toronto quartet posted to Instagram. “We like these songs, they’re only B-sides because we couldn’t agree on an album tracklist and we got into a big pissing match and ended up choosing songs based on what we thought would annoy one another the most. A flawless system, perfectly executed by grownup well adjusted individuals who are definitely not man-babies, never ever. Anyway, these songs are the casualties, hope you like em!”

Pup vocalist Stefan Babcock explained the inspiration behind “How To Live With Yourself” in a press release statement.

“This was the first song we wrote when we started working on our last album,” he said. “The first one is always the hardest — you tend to overthink everything — so we wanted to start with something simple and fun, something that we wouldn’t get too in our own heads about. This one feels like a classic Pup song to me, and while our goal for the record was to push ourselves out of our comfort zone and try new things, sometimes it feels good to write a catchy, miserable ripper that feels like it captures exactly what this band is about.”

Babcock offered the same insight for “Smoke Screen,” saying, “This song originated with a Nestor [Chumak] riff. He sent it around, and the thing was so slow that I thought he’d exported it wrong. But his idea was to do a song that was like the ‘sludgey’ version of Pup — something we’d never really done before. The more I listened to it, the more it grew on me. I remember in the height of the pandemic sitting in the backseat of my car at the Home Depot parking lot, anything to try and escape the house, and writing and recording all the lyrics on the spot.”

Listen to “How To Live With Yourself” above, and check out “Smoke Screen” below as well as Pup’s upcoming tour dates.
