Dillon Brooks’ Message To Draymond Green Was ‘Keep Doing [Your] Podcast…It’s Cute’

The budding rivalry between the Memphis Grizzlies and Golden State Warriors added a few layers this week. After Dillon Brooks sharply criticized Draymond Green and his game last week, Green responded on Wednesday with a scathing takedown of Brooks. The back-and-forth seemed to unfold at the right time, as Memphis and Golden State clashed Thursday on TNT.

Despite the continued absences of Ja Morant and Steven Adams, the Grizzlies routed the Warriors, 131-110. At one point in the second quarter, the two shared a weird moment when Brooks converted a layup around Green. After the win, Brooks, flanked by teammates, Jaren Jackson Jr., Tyus Jones and Xavier Tillman, spoke with TNT’s Jared Greenberg and had some words for Green.

“That’s what I do, I talk,” Brooks said of his message for Green. “I told him, keep that mic. Keep that mic. He’s better at the mic than hooping. Keep doing his podcast. Keep blogging. Keep doing his thing off the court. It’s cute it’s fun for him.”

As Brooks’ interview concluded, he had a final message for Green to further stoke the flames of this rivalry.

“You should give the mic to Draymond,” Brooks told Greenberg. “Make him keep talking about me, so I can play better.”

Brooks ended the night with 14 points, six assists, four rebounds, one steal and one block. Green had 16 points, seven assists, five rebounds and three steals. I’m willing to bet Brooks’ parting words on Thursday won’t be the last of this saga between the two forwards. Given how pointedly Green responded Wednesday, he might have even more in store after all Brooks said this time around.

Glendale Will Temporarily Change Its Name Ahead Of Taylor Swift’s ‘Eras Tour’

There are only just a few days left until Taylor Swift kicks off her massive The Eras Tour in Glendale, Arizona at State Farm Stadium. To celebrate her two-night presence in the city, Glendale announced that starting this Monday (fittingly, March 13), they will temporarily be changing the town name to acknowledge her impact.

“Are you ready for it?” the city’s official Twitter account replied to the news breaking.

“There is no need to calm down, we’re fearless and doing something highly unusual to celebrate the fact that Taylor’s concerts start right here!” the town also shared in a statement, via Fox 10 Phoenix. “We know all too well that she’s one of the most influential artists of her generation and we are writing our own love story for her and greeting every Swiftie in style!”

While the name hasn’t been revealed yet, it hasn’t stopped Swifties from speculating. One fan held a poll with four options: “Karmaville, Maroonfield, Redbridge County, and Fearlessette.” Others have thrown out Glendale (Taylor’s Version), Glentayle, Era-zona, Swiftdale, and many more.

Whatever Glendale decides to shake it up to, it will only last through March 18, but sets the tone for other cities that Swift is stopping at.

Dillon Brooks And Draymond Green Had A Weird Standoff After Their War Of Words This Week

Draymond Green and Dillon Brooks don’t appear to be on the same page. In advance of Thursday night’s nationally televised showdown between the Golden State Warriors and the Memphis Grizzlies at FedEx Forum, Green and Brooklyn weren’t exactly shy in addressing each other through the media. Brooks kicked things off in an ESPN profile, downplaying any comparison to Green and dismissing his on-court impact. Shortly after, Green put together a response that referred to Brooks as an “idiot” and indicated Memphis wouldn’t be able to compete for a title with him in the mix.

Needless to say, there was a bit of extra attention on whether Green and Brooks would participate in any strangeness or antics during the game. Before halftime, they delivered, at least to an extent, with a bizarre standoff that was immediately turned into a meme.

Ultimately, this is not a serious incident, which is probably the preferred result when blending entertainment and a lack of truly impactful shenanigans. Still, the visual is quite funny, and the Grizzlies and Warriors will likely see plenty of each other as West playoff contenders, giving rise to the thought that Brooks and Green could be tangled up again in the near future.

JID Invited The Fan Who Correctly Answered His ‘Jeopardy’ Prompt To One Of His Shows

You know you’ve made it once your name is used in the form of a question on Jeopardy. Last month, on an episode of Jeopardy, rapper JID was surprised to see a prompt referencing his 2021 collaboration with Imagine Dragons called “Enemy.

On the February 24 episode, the prompt read “‘Who the baddest? It don’t matter ’cause we at your throat,’ This 3-letter guy raps on ‘Enemy,’ his collaboration with Imagine Dragons.” A fan, who was competing on the game show, swiftly responded “Who is JID?”

In a recent interview with People, JID revealed exactly how he felt after finding out about being referenced on the iconic game show.

“It feels like a big win,” he said. “Everybody lost their mind. My parents saw it. I know all of their friends were geeking out about it. So it was just something I was like, ‘Oh, this is something I couldn’t even put on a bucket list.’ This is something I never expected to happen. Because I know the universe is aligning for certain things for me.”

Also in the interview, he said that he connected with the fan who answered the prompt correctly, and that he invited him to attend a concert of his.

Death Row Records’ Catalog Will Finally Return To Music Streaming Platforms Tonight

After being removed from all digital streaming platforms last year, Death Row Records has announced that its legendary collection of hip-hop albums will once again be available for streaming tonight (March 9). The news arrives via an announcement on the label’s social media handles.

Among the classic Death Row albums are Snoop Dogg’s Doggystyle, Tupac’s All Eyez On Me, and Dr. Dre’s The Chronic, the latter of which recently made a reappearance on DSPs. Much of the earlier Death Row projects were removed from streaming last year, following Snoop Dogg’s acquisition of the label.

Last year, in an interview on the Drink Champs podcast, Snoop revealed that he removed the masters after entertainment distributor eOne allegedly tried to pull him into a shady deal.

“They had the label, and for a year and a half two years I was trying to get my masters. All I wanted was Doggystyle. I was originally trying to say, ‘eOne, how can we work a deal where I can get my masters?’ Then Hasbro bought eOne so I was dealing with Hasbro and eOne. I was talking to eOne they were giving me the runaround so I said ‘Why don’t you let me come work for y’all so I can get my masters? I can blow your sh*t up make it go you can give me the Death Row Catalogue and let me get my masters’.”

The Death Row line-up will arrive to streaming platforms at 9 p.m. PST

Kevin Durant Will Miss At Least Three Weeks With A Sprained Ankle

A freak injury could end up costing Kevin Durant the rest of his regular season. Prior to the Phoenix Suns’ 132-101 win over the Oklahoma City Thunder on Wednesday night, Durant slipped while going through warm-ups and rolled his ankle. While he was able to finish warming up for the game, it was eventually determined that Durant wouldn’t be able to play.

In the aftermath of the game, a report from Greg Moore of The Arizona Republic indicated that Durant might not be able to return during the regular season, as he left Footprint Center in a walking boot. That is, hopefully, not going to be the case as the team is looking to evaluate Durant in three weeks, as they announced on Thursday night.

A three-week absence, should he return immediately upon re-evaluation, would have Durant coming back at the end of March, just prior to the final week of the regular season.

Durant and T.J. Warren came to the Suns at the trade deadline from the Brooklyn Nets in a deal that saw Phoenix give up Mikal Bridges, Cameron Johnson, Jae Crowder, and a whole lot of draft capital. He has appeared in three games as a Sun and has looked to be a seamless fit alongside Deandre Ayton, Devin Booker, Chris Paul, and co., as Durant has averaged 26.7 points and 7.3 rebounds per game on 69 percent shooting from the field and 53.8 percent shooting from three.

Phoenix’s final regular season game will take place on April 9. The team is currently 37-29, good for fourth place in the Western Conference with a 3.5-game lead on the 7-seed.

Georgetown Has Parted Ways With Patrick Ewing After Six Seasons

When Patrick Ewing was hired as head coach of the Georgetown Hoyas, the hope was the school’s all-time leading scorer could bring the program back to prominence. However, after four middling years that saw one stunning run to a Big East Tournament title followed by a first round loss in the NCAA Tournament, the Hoyas have been one of the worst teams in high-major basketball, compiling a 13-51 record over the past two seasons — including a 2-37 record in Big East play.

After Georgetown was bounced from the Big East Tournament on Thursday by Villanova in an 80-48 loss at Madison Square Garden, the school made official what many anticipated, as Ewing was let go.

In his six seasons at the helm, Georgetown went 75-109, but the downward trajectory over the past two years was impossible to ignore. Whoever steps in to follow Ewing will come into a unique opportunity to build back a program with a rich legacy that has seemingly hit rock bottom, but what Georgetown’s ceiling is in this era of college basketball is likely much lower than what it once was. Still, fans of the Hoyas expect to be competitive in the Big East at the very least, and that wasn’t happening over the past two years, leading to a Georgetown legend’s ouster.
