Richard Sherman Refused To Talk To One Seattle Sports Radio Host During An Awkward Interview

Richard Sherman is almost never shy about expressing himself. Dating back to his time as an All-Pro defensive back, Sherman has been known for his candor, including a now-legendary walk-off interview with Erin Andrews in 2014 and plenty of additional moments both during and after his playing career. In fact, Sherman joined the studio operation of Amazon’s Thursday Night Football broadcast this season, and he let loose after the Denver Broncos had Russell Wilson throw on 4th and 1.

This week, Sherman visited with Brock Huard and Mike Salk on local radio in Seattle (710 AM) and he was on alongside former teammate K.J. Wright. The full interview is worth watching for context (h/t Awful Announcing) but, in short, it became very clear that Sherman was not in the mood to speak to Salk despite quite literally being a guest on his show.

Sherman said that he would answer questions from Huard and Wright, but told Salk “we’re gonna excuse you out of this.” Later, he doubled down and said “again, you’re excused from the interview,” only to have Salk rightly push back using the reality that he is a co-host of the program.

The animosity seems to stem from issues during Sherman’s playing days in Seattle, but this got very awkward in a hurry. Obviously, Sherman doesn’t have to speak to Salk but, at the same time, it is hard (or nearly impossible) to maintain that stance while also choosing to appear as a guest on this show. Still, it made for some captivating audio and attention, so perhaps everybody wins.

‘Mad genius’ can make literally anything out of chocolate, including a working foosball game

You’ve probably seen people make impressive chocolate confections before, but if you haven’t seen Amaury Guichon at work, prepare to be floored.

The French-Swiss pastry chef can do things with chocolate that simply don’t seem possible. As the host of the Netflix show, “School of Chocolate,” Guichon wowed viewers with his expertise as he educated other chefs in the art of chocolate sculpture, and he continues to outdo himself.

Have you ever seen a full-sized, realistic cello made out of chocolate? Guichon has done it. Life-sized shark? Done it. Seven-foot high Statue of Liberty replica? Done.

The number and variety of things Guichon has managed to create perfectly out of chocolate is enough to make your head spin. Anyone who has watched him work knows that his talents know no bounds, but a flippin’ chocolate foosball table? That actually works? No way.

Guichon’s calm, diligent manner doesn’t exactly jive with a commenter calling him a “mad genius,” but what else would you call someone who considers creating a real, full-sized foosball game out of chocolate, much less actually makes it happen (and right in time for the World Cup)?

Watch how he did it:

I mean, wow.

Years of professional education, trial and error and a deep knowledge of how chocolate works have enabled Guichon to become an artist as well as an engineer. He knows just how chocolate will behave under various conditions and just the right amounts to use for various desired outcomes.

His projects range from mechanical wonders like this:

To beautiful animalistic sculptures like this flaming phoenix:

To this full-sized chocolate harp:

Chocolate Harp! 🎶 5ft tall of chocolate and 47 sugar strings! #amauryguichon #chocolate

He’s like a real-life Willy Wonka without the slightly terrifying quirkiness, right?

It’s not an exaggeration to say that Guichon can make literally anything out of chocolate. His skill is unreal and unmatched, which perhaps is not surprising since he started learning the art of making pastry in Geneva, Switzerland when he was 13. However, his chocolate skills aren’t just show—he’s dedicated his career to making desserts that are as delicious as they are beautiful to look at. “I wanted to create a fusion between French taste and American showmanship,” he told Les vergers Boiron.

Now 31, he has had his own Netflix show, founded The Pastry Academy in Las Vegas where he shares his pastry skills with others, and has millions of followers on social media. When you watch him at work, it’s not hard to see why.

You can follow Amaury Guichon on Facebook, Instagram, TikTok and YouTube.

Hayley Williams Said Billie Eilish Reminded Her Of Seeing Paramore In Their Early Days Of ‘Navigating This World’

Paramore is gearing up for a big year. Next year, the band will release This Is Why which will mark their first album in six years, and their sixth overall.

In a recent interview with SiriusXM’s Alt Nation, she spoke about singer/songwriter Billie Eilish, who, like Williams, starting becoming a big name in the industry when she was 17. Williams even said Eilish reminded her of herself when she was starting out.

“We’ve spoken throughout the years since she kind of came onto the scene,” Williams said. “The first thing I experienced or I witnessed of her was ‘When the Party’s Over,’ that video. And then I watched an interview with her and I felt like there was something inside of me that was watching me — slash us — as teenagers doing interviews and navigating this world.”

Elsewhere in the interview, Williams recalled having dinner with Eilish’s family last year, where her mother, Maggie Baird, served her some vegan cinnamon rolls. Since then, she has formed a tight bond with Eilish, her brother, Finneas, and their parents.

“We had already connected,” she said, “I had connected with her mom too, just about their organization that they have. But ever since that Thanksgiving cinnamon roll treat, just, I mean… The rest is history. I feel like I would do anything for them.”

This Is Why is out 2/10/2023 via Atlantic Records. Pre-save it here.

J-Hope, New Edition, And More Are Performing At The 2022 Annual New Year’s Rockin’ Eve Party

The official lineup for Dick Clark’s New Year’s Rockin’ Eve has been revealed, featuring special performances from J-Hope, New Edition, Duran Duran, and many more.

J-Hope is scheduled to play a three-song medley of “= (Equal Sign),” “Chicken Noodle Soup” and BTS’ “Butter.”

“I wanted to show a different aspect of me, other than the sunny and bright side I have as a member of BTS,” J-Hope recently told Consequence about his solo endeavor. “That’s why I decided to show a darker side of me through this album — maybe the shadow on the other side of the sunny and bright disposition I usually show. Showing the same vibes I show as a member of BTS might not be the right way to touch upon these darker or more serious topics.”

Meanwhile, New Edition will also tackle their biggest hits, including “Rub You The Right Way,” “My Prerogative,” “Poison,” “If It Isn’t Love,” and “Cool It Now.”

In addition, the show will feature pre-taped performances at Disneyland from Aly & AJ, Bailey Zimmerman, Ben Platt, Ciara, Fitz & The Tantrums, Halle Bailey, Lauren Spencer Smith, Maddie & Tae, Shaggy and TXT. At other locations in Los Angeles, Armani White, Betty Who, Dove Cameron, Finneas, Nicky Youre, and Wiz Khalifa will also play.

Hosted as usual by Ryan Seacrest, New Years’ Rockin Eve will air on ABC on December 31.

Taylor Swift Fans With Disabilities Are Struggling To Get ADA ‘Eras’ Tour Seats

In a new piece from Cosmopolitan today, it details the lengths that Taylor Swift fans with disabilities are having to go just to get ADA-compliant seats for The Eras Tour. Between trading with people online and spending hundreds, if not thousands, of dollars, the demand that was already extreme is even higher.

“Like many people I’m hoping to snag tickets to Taylor Swift‘s Eras tour. However, unlike many people I am trying to ensure that I can get accessible seating so that I can bring my daughters, one of whom is a wheelchair user, to the concert,” Amy Webb, an author featured in the article, first wrote on Instagram.

As many other fans in the piece pointed out, they struggled even more to find tickets via the standard Ticketmaster channel… And for reasonable resale prices as well. Primarily, because fans (and scammers) are buying up any tickets they can find, including those that would typically be set for concertgoers with disabilities.

“There’s always just this inherent base discrimination that, no matter how much money I can even afford to spend, I’ll never be able to get to the front. I’ll never be able to get to the goal line or the floor seats,” another fan told the publication. “I know for a fact no matter what, as a father, I can never take my son or my wife to go see somebody front row in most of these venues because they don’t offer that.”

Bree Runway Hilariously Recalled How She Once Sold Adele A Pair Of Children’s Shoes

Bree Runway was always destined for stardom. From collaborating with Missy Elliott to reportedly being in talks to join Beyoncé on her upcoming Renaissance tour, it appears the stars are aligned for her. But perhaps there were signs that showed up in her life before she blew up.

In a recent interview with The Fader, Bree shared a story of a time when she helped out another British superstar. Before fame, Bree worked at a children’s shoe store, however, she had desires to work for Louis Vuitton. So, she started dressing as if she worked for Louis Vuitton, and soon enough, she began pulling VIP clients. One of those was none other than Adele, who came into Bree’s store one day, presumably buying shoes for her son, Angelo.

“I literally blacked out,” Bree said. “I didn’t recognize her until she turned her face a certain way, and I was like, ‘Oh my God, it’s Adele.’ I was just packaging the shoes, like, ‘I can’t breathe. It’s Adele.’ It was just me and her on the shop floor. I was like, [whispering] ‘Don’t say anything, it’s Adele, oh my God. Would you like a receipt? I mean, [loudly] would you like a receipt? [whispering] Did I say that out loud? Oh my God, it’s Adele.’ She was like, ‘Yes, love, I’m Adele. Can I have my shoes, please?’”

The power of manifestation eventually worked out for Bree, as she later ended up working for Louis Vuitton. Perhaps this means a collaboration with Adele may manifest in the future.

Ab-Soul Clears The Air About A Rumored Kid Cudi Diss On His Song ‘Church On The Move’

Ab-Soul appeared on the Rap Radar Podcast to clear the air about a suspected diss he made towards Kid Cudi. Ahead of the release of his first album in six years, Herbert, dropping tomorrow, Ab-Soul denied that he did — instead claiming the “cudi” word usage was a street term.

“It seems like you still have the competitive spirit on there like you’re firing some shots off in the verse,” Brian “B.Dot” Miller, one of the show’s hosts, commented about a line in Ab-Soul’s song, “Church On The Move.”

“Which shots? What do you mean?” Ab-Soul asked.

“It sounded like you were talking to a specific rapper,” Miller added. “It sounded like you were talking about Kid Cudi. You mentioned a name, and you said a lot of things in there.”

“You think I would diss Kid Cudi? The great Kid Cudi? On a song called ‘Church On The Move’?” Ab-Soul replied. “Peace be unto you. Come on, B.Dot. And y’all trust this guy with the lists?”

“There goes my credibility,” Miller joked back.

“No, look. Listen. ‘Cudi’ is a term that we use. It’s kinda on some Cr*p sh*t, you know what I’m saying?” Ab continued.

Watch the full moment of Ab-Soul replying to the supposed “Church On The Move” Kid Cudi diss above.

We’re Picking Winners For Week 15 Of The 2022 NFL Season

Well, that was close. Our Week 14 slate was highly prosperous, including the chance for a 5-0 week going into Monday evening with a teaser leg, of all things. The Arizona Cardinals failed to get home for us with a combination of a high-profile injury to Kyler Murray, four turnovers on downs, a missed field goal, and a fumble that yielded a touchdown for the Patriots. Arizona was out-gained by exactly five yards while entering as an eight-point underdog on the tease, and we should never speak of this again.

Alas, it was a helpful week for the overall view of the season, and Week 15 returns to a full slate with no more bye weeks to sift through. Let’s take a glance at how we stack up through 14 weeks of action before flipping to our five-pack of selections.

  • Week 14: 4-1
  • 2022 Season: 36-33-1

Come get these winners.

Jacksonville Jaguars (+4.5) over Dallas Cowboys

This is the favorite play of sharps this week and there are still some 4.5’s in the market despite early money on Jacksonville. Dallas isn’t as bad as they were last week against the Texans, but I’d bet this down to 3.5 if I had to.

TEASER: Baltimore Ravens (+9) over Cleveland Browns and Pittsburgh Steelers (+9) over Carolina Panthers

We’re going to a throwback AFC Norse/Black and Blue Division teaser. That is more of a coincidence than anything, but I love both of these Wong teaser legs. Baltimore doesn’t have Lamar Jackson, but Tyler Huntley is expected to go and the Ravens have the superior defense in that tilt. Pittsburgh also has quarterback uncertainty, but the market might be a bit too high on Carolina and I’ll take the nine.

Arizona Cardinals (+3) over Denver Broncos

Take us there, Colt McCoy. The Broncos found some offense last week, but I’m betting it was a mirage. This is a principle that Denver can’t be favored. And… I do think Colt is able to keep it on the tracks.

Tennessee Titans (+3) over Los Angeles Chargers

We had the Chargers a week ago to success against Miami. Tennessee has also been a personal disaster zone in this space. I’m blotting out the noise and simply taking Mike Vrabel and company. Getting the full three is important, but the Titans might just win this game.

New York Giants (+4.5) over Washington Commanders

The Giants are 1-4-1 in the last six, and I get it. I was fading them for a while, and now things have gone too far. This is a weird schedule spot, but Washington is now laying 4.5 here? That’s a thing? Nope. Take the points.

10 of our absolute favorite photos from National Geographic’s Pictures of the Year 2022 issue

The editors at National Geographic had the impossible task of choosing the best photos taken for the magazine in 2022 for its Pictures of the Year issue. Why? Because this year, 132 photographers were sent on assignment in 60 countries and 2,238,899 images were filed.

But the editors were able to pare them down to 36 images that offer breathtaking glimpses of our shared human journey and remind us of the incredible planet we all share.

“The photos selected for ‘Pictures of the Year’ stop us in our tracks and make us pay attention to stories that need to be told,” Whitney Johnson Latorre, VP of visuals and immersive experiences for National Geographic Media, said in a statement. “Each image reveals a portrait of life in motion, encouraging us all to see the world around us in new and unprecedented ways; that is the power of visual storytelling.”

“I love that Nat Geo’s ‘Pictures of the Year 2022’ isn’t merely capturing the news highlights of the year; we’re showcasing the powerful stories of the year that our photographers around the globe have had their lens on,” noted National Geographic Editor-in-Chief Nathan Lump. “As a result, the collection captures novelty and surprise in a way that I believe expresses the best of what we do at Nat Geo.”

Here are 10 of Upworthy’s favorite images from National Geographic’s Pictures of the Year 2022.

A SpaceX Falcon 9 rocket, launched from Cape Canaveral in the early hours of June 19, streaks above a stand of bald cypress trees. This was the second time in less than a year that a SpaceX rocket appeared in photographer Mac Stone’s frame while he was shooting at night in a remote swamp. Stone says that the increased frequency of launches without fanfare “suggests that we have crossed over into a new era where cosmic missions are simply business as usual.”

Wild Asian elephants mingle with cattle at a garbage dump near Minneriya, in central Sri Lanka. The island nation is home to some 6,000 pachyderms living in close contact with people. Having lost their lowland forest home, elephants now seek out human-affected habitats, including croplands, and are master generalists, capable of eating at least 100 different plants. That doesn’t mean that Sri Lankan elephants are thriving; they instead may be coping. Researchers are tracking their levels of cortisol, a stress hormone, that could be detrimental to the elephants’ health

In this desert setting, heat and drought “threaten a delicate balance of life,” says photographer Keith Ladzinski—life that includes populations of inquisitive meerkats.

Visitors ascend the spiraling 150-foot-high boardwalk in the yellowing autumn at Denmark’s Camp Adventure to gain a new perspective on the forest southwest of Copenhagen—and, perhaps, on life itself. “Forest bathing,” among the woods’ most powerful and least tangible benefits, has been shown to reduce stress and improve mental and physical well-being.

To create this image of Bears Ears National Monument, Stephen Wilkes took 2,092 photos over 36 hours, combining 44 of them to show a sunrise, a full moon and a rare alignment of four planets. “Beyond the sense of awe and beauty,” he says, “there’s a palpable sense of history with every step you take.” This spectacular landscape in southeastern Utah exemplifies the risk to some of the country’s unique, irreplaceable places. One president preserved it at the urging of Native Americans who hold it sacred; another tried to open it to drilling and mining. The national monument is rich in archaeological sites, including the Citadel, an ancient cliff dwelling now popular with hikers.

Manatees, among other sea life, adorn a convenience store’s mural in Crystal River, a coastal city in western Florida known as the Manatee Capital of the World. A refuge for the sea mammals operates there

Photographer Ami Vitale showcased these 6-month-old cubs snacking and playing as part of her long-term focus on giant panda conservation

“The warmth I felt in Durban was so refreshing,” Lawrence says. Unathi Madalane (at left) and Tshiamo Maretela enjoy the beach.

Photographed at night with an infrared camera, a spotted hyena that scientists nicknamed Palazzo submissively grins and lays her ears back as Moulin Rouge, the clan’s dominant female at the time, towers over her. Palazzo’s cub peers out from between them. Unlike most social mammals, females rule among spotted hyenas, maintaining their hierarchy through relationships with female allies. These African predators, the largest members of the hyena family, weigh up to 190 pounds, and females are on average 10% heavier than males. Clans, some topping 100 animals, form complex societies.

Viktor, a 39-year-old male bonobo, resides in Texas at the Fort Worth Zoo, where he’s known for interacting with visitors. Veteran photographer Vince Musi is known for capturing animals’ personalities in portraits such as this one.
