Hooray, Richard Lewis Is Returning To ‘Curb Your Enthusiasm’ After Sitting Out Season 11 (With A Good Excuse)

Last season, there was a disturbance in Curb Your Enthusiasm: It was missing Richard Lewis. The comic and actor has been with the show from the start, which is to say since the special that launched Larry David’s second beloved show. But after over two decades of occasionally playing a version of himself on the HBO staple, he had to play hooky. He had a good excuse: He’d had surgeries on his back and both shoulders and he wasn’t fit to work, even for a gig that mostly involves him joking around with an old pal. But the dark days are over.

“I’m back shooting Curb!” Lewis tweeted Monday, purportedly from the set of Season 12. “I’m a lucky cat to be with my oldest pal who just so happens to be a genius. Don’t tell him I called him that or he’ll mock me to my grave. A 22 year ride so far!”

Last year, when he broke the news to Curb enthusiasts of his going AWOL, he said that he was “crushed” that he couldn’t partake of the show’s first post-start-of-pandemic season, which found Larry blackmailed into casting an aspiring actress who can’t act while J.B. Smoove’s Leon tried to find a women with the same name as his ex to join him on vacation (long story). But he was able to make a surprise visit to the set.

Anyway, welcome back both Curb Richard Lewis and Real Richard Lewis.

Billie Eilish’s ‘Very Big’ Fitness Transformation Goal Is To ‘Get Really F*ckin’ Buff’

Today, Vanity Fair shared their sixth annual filmed interview with Billie Eilish, which has been a tradition since 2017. The first time they did it, the “Bad Guy” performer had 257,000 followers. Now she has a whopping 106 million. The star’s status is constantly rising, it seems, and she always has more to talk about. This time, she discussed many things, including an unexpected fitness goal of hers: To get ripped.

“I’ve had a very big transformation this year with my fitness lifestyle and it’s been a really insane process,” she explained. “I feel better about myself than I ever have which makes me really proud and I worked really hard on it. I just want to get really f*ckin’ buff. I just want to be buff. Hopefully by next year I will be ripped.”

In that same interview, the star discussed her boyfriend, The Neighbourhood frontman Jesse Rutherford. “I managed to get my way to a point in my life where I not only was known by a person that I thought was the hottest f*ckin’ f*cker alive, but pulled his ass,” she said. “Are we kidding me? Can we just [claps]… round of applause for me. Thank you. Jesse Rutherford, everyone. I pulled his ass, all me. I did that sh*t. I locked that motherf*cker down.”

A Handful Of Christmas Songs Have Entered The Top 10 On The Hot 100 Chart

Now that Thanksgiving weekend is over, it’s time for everyone to act like it’s Christmas Day. The holiday season is here, and if you don’t believe it, you can just take a gander at the current top 10 spots on the Billboard Hot 100 chart. There you’ll find that four are occupied by Christmas songs.

That’s right: Cushioned between Taylor Swift, Steve Lacy, Harry Styles, and more are classic holiday hits. According to the new Hot 100 dated December 3, “All I Want For Christmas Is You” by Mariah Carey can be found at No. 5. That’s followed by Brenda Lee’s “Rockin’ Around The Christmas Tree” at No. 6. Then there’s “Jingle Bell Rock” by Bobby Helms at No. 9, and finally “A Holly Jolly Christmas” by Burl Ives at No. 10.

Of course the No. 1 spot is still occupied by the one and only Taylor Swift with her Midnights hit “Anti-Hero.” It has been there for five weeks and counting. At one point she took up all 10 spots with different Midnights tracks, but her reign ended with the highly anticipated release of Drake and 21 Savage’s collaborative LP Her Loss. “Anti-Hero” is the “Love Story” singer’s ninth No. 1 song of her career, and it’s her fifth to debut on top.

‘The Fabelmans’: Here Is What’s Real And Fiction In Steven Spielberg’s New Film

Warning: This post contains spoilers for The Fabelmans.

Over his 50+ year career, Steven Spielberg has kept himself out of the picture — mostly. His latest, The Fabelmans, may be the closest thing he’s made to an autobiography, but elements of his true self have often creeped into his work. His movies are lousy with broken families, wrecked by divorce (E.T., Catch Me If You Can), the law (The Sugarland Express), cruel spouses (The Color Purple), war (Empire of the Sun), and obsession (Close Encounters of the Third Kind, in which our hero abandons his family to go to space).

But how much of The Fabelmans is true to life? For one thing, our young, aspiring filmmaker lead (Mateo Zoryon Francis-DeFord as a boy, Gabriel LaBelle as a teen) is named Sammy Fabelman, not Steven Spielberg. Even if (almost) all the other names are changed, too, there’s a lot that’s true-ish to life. Let’s break down what’s real.

Accurate (more or less):

Spielberg’s mom really did fall in love with his father’s best friend. In the film, Michelle Williams’ Mitzi is secretly in love with Seth Rogen’s Bennie, the best friend of Paul Dano’s Burt. That’s more or less true: Spielberg’s mom divorced her husband Arnold in 1966, one year later marrying his best friend Bernie (that’s one letter off).

Spielberg learned about the affair by accidentally filming it. In the movie, while checking back on footage he filmed of a family-plus-Bennie camping trip, Sammy discovers he accidentally caught images of their tryst. Spielberg recently discussed this with The New York Times’ A.O. Scott. “That was one of the toughest things, I think, that I had to sit down and decide to expose,” he said, “because it was the most powerful secret my mom and I shared since my discovery when I was 16.”

Spielberg’s mom really was a concert pianist. Leah started playing piano at 5 and even studied at the Music Conservatory in Cincinnati. It’s not public whether or not she had to reluctantly clip her long nails before a performance, as Mitzi does in the film.

His mother really did bring home a monkey (though not at the same time as in the film). In The Fabelmans, after the family moves from Phoenix to northern California, a depressed Mitzi one day whimsically brings home a monkey. In real life, she obtained it in Phoenix after walking past a pet store and seeing it looking depressed.

Spielberg really did get bullied by fellow students over his Judaism. In real life, the young Spielberg was one of the few Jewish kids at his Saratoga high school. (In the film, it appears he’s the only one.) He was also bullied by two students over his faith, though it’s unclear if one of them got mad over Spielberg making him look like a golden god in a spring break film shown at prom.

Yes, the final sequence really happened. Spielberg has told the story of how he lucked into meeting John Ford before, and it’s almost the same as it is in the film. Here, the legendary filmmaker is played by another legendary filmmaker, David Lynch, who offers the budding auteur some very specific advice before bluntly kicking him out of his office.

Here’s one of the maybes:

Spielberg may or may not have dated a Christian girl who tried to convert him. Spielberg hasn’t discussed this one (yet), though The Los Angeles Times claims it’s based on a girl he dated in seventh grade. (In the film, they’re seniors.)

So there you have it. Spielberg kept some fact and sprinkled it with fiction. But he didn’t have to print the legend (borrowing a line from one of the films featured in it, John Ford’s The Man Who Shot Liberty Valance).

The Fabelmans is now playing in theaters (mostly) everywhere.

Karl-Anthony Towns Had To Be Helped To The Locker Room With A Non-Contact Leg Injury

The Minnesota Timberwolves saw another rough night get exponentially worse on Monday when Karl-Anthony Towns went down in the third quarter, falling to the ground and grabbing at the back of his right leg running back up the floor in Washington. Towns was then helped to the locker room by Rudy Gobert and the training staff, not putting any weight on his right leg and clearly in considerable pain.

It wasn’t immediately clear exactly what Towns injured, but he initially grabbed at the back of his right calf as he fell to the ground and there’s always concern when a player goes down with a non-contact injury.

Minnesota can ill afford any extended time without Towns, as they are a team still working their way into form and trying to establish a rhythm with Towns and Gobert together in the frontcourt. Towns has not been able to find his typical elite offensive form so far this season, as he got a late start after dealing with an illness in training camp, averaging 21.4 points, 8.5 rebounds, and 5.3 assists on 50.8 percent shooting and 32.8 percent from three-point range, which would be a career low.

Towns was quickly ruled out of the game with what the team is calling a right calf strain.

Omar Apollo Got NSFW To Make It Clear He’s Not A ‘Queerbaiting Singer’

Many musicians have dealt with accusations of queerbaiting, from Harry Styles to Cardi B. Though fans want celebrities to express support for the LGBTQ+ community, they want that without exploitation or profit being made off of a group of which they’re not a part. But sometimes it’s hard to tell where the line is drawn.

Luckily, this new case with Omar Apollo isn’t as complicated. An account tweeted: “is omar apollo another queerbaiting singer? like those type ‘i don’t label myself let me wear cropped and paint my nails and i say i find another guy hot’ cuz i like his song but i don’t like supporting straight men doing queerbating.” Apollo quote-tweeted with a simple answer: “no i b sucking dick fr.” He then added in a thread: “from the back 💯

So it’s a good thing we’ve cleared that up. Apollo’s career has been growing exponentially this year, and it looks like nothing will stop that. He just received his first Grammy nomination, for Best New Artist, alongside Anitta, Domi & JD Beck, Latto, Måneskin, Molly Tuttle, Muni Long, Samara Joy, Tobe Nwigwe, and Wet Leg.

Omar Apollo is a Warner Music artist. Uproxx is an independent subsidiary of Warner Music Group.

Trump Is Probably Not Furious After Being Asked Not To Campaign For Chaos Candidate Herschel Walker

What is Donald Trump’s future with the GOP? For the first time since the aftermath of the Jan. 6 riot, it’s a question without a clear answer. The former president has a giant Scooby Doo sandwich of problems right now: lawsuits, investigations, money problems. He just had the one-two punch of helping snuff the Republican’s desired “red wave” and having dinner with two outspoken anti-Semites. The last two have been enough to cause one campaign to beg him not to help.

Next week Georgians will vote in a runoff between incumbent senator Raphael Warnock and challenger Herschel Walker. It’s a tight race. If this was happening in an earlier time, they would have asked Donald Trump to hold one of his deranged rallies for him (where he’d mostly talk about himself, of course). But as per The New York Times, the opposite is happening: Both Trump and Walker teams agreed he should stay in Mar-a-Lago:

Instead of holding one of his signature campaign rallies, Mr. Trump is planning a call with supporters in the state and will continue sending online fund-raising pleas for Mr. Walker, two people with knowledge of the planning said.

The decision to keep Mr. Trump out of the spotlight was a response largely to the former president’s political style and image, which can energize his core supporters but also motivate Democratic voters and turn off significant segments of moderate Republicans.

As of this writing, Trump has not publicly flipped out about the decision. But it has to hurt that the party he dramatically altered is effectively telling him he’s poison. Should this trend continue, should the GOP continue to treat him like a skunk, he’s likely to take them down with him. Then again, Walker doesn’t need any more help torpedoing a campaign that’s already more successful than it should be.

Report: The Lakers Will Consider Trading Patrick Beverley After December 15

The Lakers are on a 5-1 upswing right now, most recently winning back-to-back games in San Antonio to improve to 7-11 on the season. That’s still good for just 13th in the West and two games behind the Warriors for 10th and the final play-in spot, but it’s a considerable improvement from where they started at 2-10.

As such, the question of what the Lakers front office should do as trade season approaches remains ever present, with the Lakers’ top stars still making it known that they want upgrades, with another report emerging on Monday that the “leaders in the locker room” (not hard to guess who that is) believe they’re only a couple players away from being a contender. The front office is less keen on moving their last remaining draft assets, but the next two-plus weeks will be pivotal in determining their decision-making for this season.

December 15 looms as the unofficial start of trade season in the NBA, as that is the day players signed this offseason are eligible to be dealt, opening up far more possibilities for teams to get involved in deals. If L.A. can continue its run and push towards .500 or better by that time, then Rob Pelinka and Jeanie Buss may have little choice but to seriously explore the trade market. While Russell Westbrook plus picks for Myles Turner and Buddy Hield remains the most talked about trade that hasn’t happened, L.A. could also start to explore other options to bolster the roster.

According to Jovan Buha of The Athletic, one of their biggest additions of this offseason, Patrick Beverley, could be considered in trade discussions by the front office, as his $13 million salary is one of just a few that is above a minimum and could yield a more impactful player in return.

One name to watch is Patrick Beverley, who’s the fourth-highest-paid player on the team at $13 million. Beverley is a still an elite defender and one of the group’s vocal leaders, but he’s averaging a career-low 4.1 points per game and shooting a career-worst 23.8 percent on 3s. Beverley, like Kendrick Nunn, could still have value on teams looking for veteran backcourt help. The Lakers’ needs and glut of guards make both expendable.

While I’d push back on Nunn having much value at this point, Beverley does even though he is among those really dragging down the Lakers’ offensive spacing. There would be plenty of teams willing to overlook that in order to try and add his energy and edge, because, for all his antics — which currently have him serving a three-game suspension for shoving Deandre Ayton — Beverley can bring some needed juice to a team, as evidenced by his one-year in Minnesota where he filled a vocal leadership void that the Timberwolves are still trying to figure out after trading him this offseason.

While dealing Beverley wouldn’t net a Hield or Turner, he could possibly bring in a much-needed 3-and-D wing and allow the Lakers to make a splashier move without dealing their coveted 2027 and 2029 first round picks. Whether that would satiate LeBron James and Anthony Davis is an entirely different question, but it might be something Pelinka is more willing to try.

Adele Was Hilariously Taken Aback When A Fan Tried Taking A Selfie With Her Using A Filter

More and more TikTok features are getting unleashed every day and users sure do love to use them. There are many trends on the app where people use certain filters to trick others — and their reactions often lead to a post getting lots of traction. A fan decided to do this to a bewildered Adele during her current Las Vegas residency, and her reaction was noteworthy.

The filter that the fan used adds a layer of tan to the people in the video. So Adele was immediately puzzled, saying, “Is there a filter on that? Oh my God! What have you done to my face?!” The fan laughed. “Wow, girl! Get that filter off my face,” Adele continued. “We don’t look like that, darling.”

Before her Vegas residency, Adele confessed to feeling very nervous about it. “I’m feeling all sorts as I write this,” Adele shared on Twitter. “I’m highly emotional, incredibly nervous but can’t sit still because I’m so excited. I feel a million miles away from home, I can’t stop thinking about when I was little and saw Tom Jones in Mars Attacks and thought blimey how did he get from Wales to Las Vegas!?” Luckily, it has been going great, and she even made headlines with an incredible vanishing act.

Taylor Swift’s ‘Anti-Hero’ Is Unstoppable, Remaining No. 1 On The Hot 100 Chart For A Fifth Week

The world cannot get enough of Taylor Swift. This year alone, the pop star has broken Ticketmaster with her tour pre-sale, swept all of the 10 spots on the Billboard Hot 100. Now she’s continuing to hold her No. 1 spot on that chart with her Midnights hit “Anti-Hero.”

On the new Hot 100 dated December 3, “Anti-Hero” remains untouched at No. 1. No other Swift songs are on the chart; Drake and 21 Savage trail her with a collaborative track from Her Loss, there’s Sam Smith and Kim Petras with their ubiquitous “Unholy,” there’s Steve Lacy’s infectious “Bad Habit,” and there’s even Mariah Carey’s “All I Want For Christmas Is You.”

“Anti-Hero” is the singer’s ninth No. 1 song of her career, and it’s her fifth to debut on top. When she occupied all 10 of the top spots, she reacted by writing on Twitter, “10 out of 10 of the Hot 100??? On my 10th album??? I AM IN SHAMBLES.” The rest of her songs were nudged out when Her Loss dropped, and then Drake and 21 Savage took up eight of the remaining spots. Drake not-so-subtly shaded the “You Belong With Me” performer with an Instagram story that blocked out her No. 1 spot on the chart with some emojis. Luckily she doesn’t have to take revenge… she still has the No. 1 spot, the best kind of revenge there is.
