Drake And 21 Savage Actually Wrote Some Of Each Others’ Verses On ‘Her Loss’

Drake and 21 Savage dropped their collaboration album, Her Loss, earlier this month. It debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 and it’s apparently the final installment of a trilogy. While some songs feature the rappers tackling alternating verses, like “Rich Flex” and “Circo Loco,” others find Drizzy and 21 detailing their thoughts solo. Despite this, the duo still worked on Her Loss together behind the scenes — even if one of them didn’t vocally appear.

21 Savage recently opened up on Sirius XM’s Sound 42 about what their creative and collaboration process was like for this new record. “I ain’t gonna cap, Drake wrote some of my verses on this album,” he said. “These facts. I don’t give a f*ck what a n**** say. Drake helped me with some of my verses on this album.”

“By the way, you also helped me with sh*t, too,” Drake replied to 21’s claims in the interview.

While it’s unclear what songs Savage was specifically referencing where Drake wrote his verses, it does appear that the two rappers work well when they bounce ideas off each other. Plus, Drake has enjoyed writing for quite a while.

“I pulled my weight when it came to my pen,” Drake previously shared in a 2019 interview with Rap Radar. “Anybody that knows me knows that my strongest talent is writing… That’s why people ask me to write songs for them.”

Ref Tony Brothers Was Reportedly Given A Night Off After Calling Spencer Dinwiddie A ‘B*tch Ass Motherf*cker’ But Not Suspended

A month ago, the Dallas Mavericks narrowly beat the Toronto Raptors in a 111-110 thriller, but the talk after the game was mostly about referee Tony Brothers after Spencer Dinwiddie addressed the media and said Brothers called him a “b*tch ass motherf*cker” while talking to Reggie Bullock about a technical foul Brothers had hit Dinwiddie with.

While that led to jokes and some discourse about ref-player relations, we didn’t hear much more about it in an official capacity from the league and Brothers has continued to officiate games. On Tuesday, Marc Stein brought word of how the league handled the situation, noting that Brothers was taken off his next assignment but wasn’t given an official suspension without pay.

That seems like he was just given a night off, which isn’t exactly punishment, and the league just let the news cycle move forward with Brothers staying out of the spotlight for long enough for this situation to blow over. It’s an odd situation because we’re fairly used to seeing players call refs names, and that can get them a fine from the league, so there will certainly be some wonder if the NBA let Brothers off too easily by simply removing one of his assignments and not hitting him with a sturdier penalty, even if not a suspension.

Marjorie Taylor Greene Doesn’t Understand Why Anyone Would Wear A Mask When Underwear ‘Can’t Protect You From A Fart’

Marjorie Taylor Greene is celebrating Twitter’s more “relaxed” stance towards the spread of Covid misinformation by likening masks to flatulence-susceptible underwear, naturally.

Greene — whose unseasoned Thanksgiving Day turkey recently haunted everyone’s timeline — took to social media to air her thoughts on the CDC’s mask-wearing guidelines. Spikes in COVID-19 transmissions are expected during the holiday season, and it’s recommended that people use caution and don face coverings when inside and around large groups. Which … fair enough. Who wants to get sick before Christmas? But this reasonable excuse to mask up again has gotten Greene all up in her feels — and prompted her to maybe reveal a bit too much about her personal issues.

After remarking on how “so many people” are still wearing masks, Greene posed this question to her Twitter following: “If a pair of underwear, really thick ones, high-quality cotton, can’t protect you from a fart, then how will a mask protect you from covid??”

Philosophical meanderings on flatulence aside, this Tweet has left us with so many questions. What medical-grade underwear is Greene using? Why does it have to be “really thick?” What does she mean when she says “protect you from a fart?” Is it launching grenades? Being expelled from the anus with knives out? She’s likening passing gas to spreading germs, does she believe farts are just her butthole’s way of breathing? Has she visited a doctor to figure out why her vapors are so noxious even “high-quality cotton” can’t contain them?

We don’t often dispense medical advice but Marjorie, girl, you might need to see someone about that.

Here’s How You Can Beat Jet Lag This Holiday Season, According To Experts

Ever miraculously wake up a minute before your alarm goes off? That’s your Circadian Rhythm showing off its love for consistency. Break it and there’s a world of trouble in store. That’s why when you cross over a couple of time zones and end up in Frankfurt for lunch when it’s really 3 AM back home, you feel oddly chipper. But that’s followed by a disgusting Khabib Nurmagomedov-style KO once your body realizes you’ve betrayed its careful planning.

This breach of the Circadian Rhythm is commonly referred to as Jet Lag, or simply put by the CDC “a mismatch between a person’s normal daily rhythm and a new time zone.” As the holiday season travel comes into full swing, Jet Lag will inflict millions of travelers with drowsiness, insomnia, irritability, and other issues related to sleep deprivation. To stay ahead of the opponent, here’s some advice from the experts.

Adjust Before Travel:

To beat this foe, training is in order. To ease the stings of Jet Lag, The CDC recommends “gradually moving mealtimes and bedtimes closer to the schedule of your destination. Before traveling from the East Coast to Europe, go to bed a half-hour earlier than usual for several nights. If you’re traveling a few time zones westward, stay up a half-hour later for several consecutive nights.”

Apps like Timeshifter can help optimize this pre-travel acclimatization.

Book Flights Strategically:

Additionally, book your flight for a morning or mid-day arrival. When traveling far, it can be beneficial for resetting your biological clock to arrive during the day, as “it jump starts you much more quickly,” says Luxembourg-based sleep coach Christine Hansen.

Sleep Well During Flight:

To stay sharp, it’s imperative to get some good shut-eye on the plane, but for some, that can be a near-impossible feat. Strong pharmaceutical drugs are an immediate DQ, so the healthier options include:

  1. Packing an eye mask, as darkness induces melatonin, the hormone most present in sleep.
  2. Taking some natural Melatonin pills (available over the counter)
  3. Investing in comfort tools: Co-director of Stanford University’s Center for Sleep and Circadian Sciences, Jamie M. Zeitzer claims, “anything you can do to get comfortable enough to sleep can have a very strong placebo effect.” Try noise-cancelling headphones, a C-shaped pillow, or even a foot hammock

Bonus Tips:

  1. The CDC recommends planning to arrive at least two days before an important event.
  2. Stay Hydrated: While alcohol might get you to snooze, don’t count on it for a good sleep.
  3. According to Harvard Health, engaging in exercise and social events upon arrival can expedite a biological clock reset.

A combination of any of these tips will help grapple with Jet Lag. Good preparation and a comfortable in-flight rest seem to be the best solutions. If a tussle with Jet Lag can’t be won, rest assured that the knocks are only temporary.

The Rock Returned To The 7-Eleven Where He Used To Shoplift Candy Bars To ‘Right This Wrong’

What story is more believable: The Rock shoplifts from a 7-Eleven, or The Rock lifts a 7-Eleven over his head? Surprisingly, it’s the former — and he feels pretty bad about it.

“I finally exorcised this damn chocolate demon that’s been gnawing at me for decades,” Dwayne Johnson wrote on Instagram. “We were evicted from Hawaii in ‘87 and after all these years – I finally got back home to right this wrong. I was broke as hell, so I used to steal a king sized @snickers EVERY DAY from 7-11 for almost a year when I was 14yrs old, on my way to the gym.” He called a Snickers bar his pre-workout meal, which doesn’t sound healthy. Then again, I don’t look like The Rock, so who am I to judge?

He continued:

“I’ve exercised a few big demons over the years (I still have a few left;) so I know this one seems VERY SILLY, but every time I come back home to Hawaii and drive by 7-11. I always knew I needed to go in and clean out every Snickers bar they had – the right way. And as a bonus it was a lot of fun to take care of everybody who walked into 7-11 while I was there. Least I could do considering all the shit I used to steal from here.”

The moral of the story: “We can’t change the past and some of the dumb stuff we may have done, but every once in a while we can add a little redeeming grace note to that situation — and maybe put a big smile on some stranger’s faces.” Also, if you see The Rock, follow him into a store and demand he buy you candy.

The Viral ‘Matilda’ Dance Sequence Got A Missy Elliot Remix And People Are Losing Their Minds

A musical version of Roald Dahl’s whimsical coming-of-age story Matilda is coming to Netflix later this month (and it’s already playing in theaters in the UK and Ireland — okay, sorry, cinemas), and fans on Twitter have been having a lot of fun with some of the clips that have emerged. Of particular interest has been a dance sequence in which the children go off “like the rent was due,” as the kids say these days, prompting comparisons to the elaborate choreography from Missy Elliott‘s classic, influential music videos.

https://twitter.com/stawpfeenin/status/159661042109198337

Well, once the comparison was made, of course the edit had to follow, and a version of the clip set to Missy’s 2005 hit “Lose Control” hit the quote tweets. And naturally, because of the nature of human brains — seriously fascinating stuff — the choreography really does pair perfectly with the throwback hit. And just to make everything that extra bit more perfect, Missy herself retweeted the edit, showing her approval for the clever reworking of both her hit and the children’s fave.

Meanwhile, the replies prove that this trick works across Missy’s discography, as fans added other songs such as “Pass That Dutch” and “Gossip Folks” to the video which is still remarkably on-beat. Check out more responses below.

Missy Elliott is a Warner Music artist. Uproxx is an independent subsidiary of Warner Music Group.

Did ‘Jeopardy!’ Host Ken Jennings Work On ‘The Rings Of Power’ For Amazon?

Jeopardy! GOAT Ken Jennings certainly has his hands full with co-hosting duties of the trivia game show he’s come to dominate. But depending on how you read a recent tweet of his, there may be another series that got his attention behind the scenes. Earlier this week, Jennings tweeted about the Amazon Lord Of The Rings series The Rings Of Power.

In the tweet, he claimed to actually work on The Rings Of Power as a dialect coach.

“I was a dialect coach on Rings of Power and it was one of the hardest jobs of my life (teaching people to talk regular but say “Morgoth” real weird),” Jennings wrote.

If it sounds like a joke convention to you, that’s because it almost certainly is. He’s not the only person online to note that “Morgoth” is said strangely by some of the actors on the show despite it having a pretty straightforward pronunciation, phonetically, to some. The responses to the tweet are mostly follow-up jokes, but some do take it seriously and actually congratulate him or comment on how “cool” the job is.

Which makes sense in some ways: Jennings is an accomplished author in his own right. He’s also created a trivia board game, so he’s definitely interested in getting facts correct. So it’s entirely plausible that Amazon reached out to a notable Tolkein enthusiast for some help. And some people are going to take what he says at face value because, well, he’s the wholesome face of a very normie game show.

Then again, there’s no evidence this is true at all. There’s no sign of him in the show’s credits, for one. And he’s also joked about Lord of the Rings a number of times on Twitter over the years, including The Rings Of Power itself. Back in 2020, he made a very specific joke about the show’s massive budget.

Jennings has made a habit of joking on Twitter, for better or worse. But he’s truly a huge fan of the books. In a Seattle Times interview in 2020, he made it clear that he read the series every year when he was growing up.

“The books I’ve read most of my life are probably the novels I would just read every year when I was a teenager — “Lord of the Rings,” “Cat’s Cradle,” by Vonnegut, “Dandelion Wine” by Ray Bradbury,” Jennings said. “I feel like I’ve read those all either to my kids or myself in the last few years. Those all hold up.”

It’s worth saying that you’d definitely only make that joke if you had read the books themselves, or maybe watched the movies. So what we’ve made clear is that Jennings is a huge fan of the series and, if you take him at his word, got to play a small part in it making it to the streaming screen. Or he just watched the shows and thought they said “Morgoth” weird for no reason at all.

Kevin McCarthy Is Crapping His Pants That He Might Not Become The Next Speaker Of The House, Warning: ‘If We Play Games,’ Democrats Could Pick The Next Speaker

In GOP Land, few things reek more of desperation than 1. Going on Newsmax and 2. Being interviewed by Sean Spicer on Newsmax. But this is the unfortunate position that House Minority leader Kevin McCarthy has found himself in as a handful of his fellow Republicans, including Florida Man Matt Gaetz, have openly vowed to not support McCarthy’s bid for Speaker of the House.

On Monday evening, as Mediaite reports, McCarthy — whose smile was so permanently plastered onto his face that he actually looked like a cardboard cutout, or as if his camera had frozen — chatted with Trump’s favorite scapegoat-turned-Dancing With the Stars contestant about the many reasons why he should be the GOP’s only choice to take over Nancy Pelosi’s position as Speaker of the House when Republicans resume power in January.

According to Spicer, a few of his recent guests have pledged their un-allegiance to McCarthy and have even floated one-time poop recipient Jim Jordan as a possible candidate for the role, despite the fact that Jordan is standing behind McCarthy. So when Spicer gave McCarthy — who really thought he was sitting pretty ’til about a month ago — the chance to speak to his critics within the GOP and give them a quick elevator pitch about why they should indeed vote for him as Speaker, McCarthy essentially laid out what the future might look like without him in the role, which sounded like the GOP version of a dystopian zombie movie.

We got five more weeks. We’re working through our conference rules today. We want to make sure that everybody has input, but we have to speak as one voice. We will only be successful if we work together or we’ll lose individually.

This is very fragile that we are the only stopgap for this Biden administration. And if we don’t do this right, the Democrats can take the majority. If we play games on the floor, the Democrats could end up picking who the speaker is.

Oh no! Not… THE DEMOCRATS!!!

Nipsey Hussle’s Life-Size Wax Figure Made Its Debut In Ohio Thanks To A Dedicated Fan

The outpouring of love and admiration continues for late rapper Nipsey Hussle. Family and fans of the musician continues to push the musician’s legacy forward following his tragic death in 2019.

Now, thanks to a fan in Ohio the entertainer’s very first life-size wax figure has debuted in the SouthPark Mall. The sculptor, who goes by the name Mr. Officials, took to social media to reveal the figure. In the video, he revealed this project was a labor of love, saying, “This statue actually took about nine months to create.”

The figure is a nearly perfect replica of the late rapper. The artist nails Hussle’s posture, tattoos, and fashion sense. The wax figure dons Hussle’s signature cornrows, Puma footwear, gold medallion, and Crenshaw graphic tee.

Posed in front the rapper’s The Marathon Continues logo, celebrities jumped into the comment section to share their praise of the piece. Actors Quincy Brown, Skai Jackson, social media star Don Benjamin, and former Los Angeles Clipper Matt Barnes were just a few of the notable names in awe of the wax figure.

The praise continued on Twitter.

The wax figure will be on display at the Mr. Officials’ brick and mortar storefront located inside of SouthPark Mall in Strongsville, Ohio.

Undefeated and 30 For 30 came together in 2021 to produce The King Of Crenshaw a four-part podcast series exploring Hussle’s passing impacted the sports world. His former partner, actress Lauren London, continues to use her platform to inspire residents of his beloved Crenshaw neighborhood to pursue their dreams. London drove this point during her emotional speech at the unveiling of Hussle’s star on the Hollywood Walk Of Fame in August. NBA star LeBron James has partnered with film company SpringHill to release a documentary, Hussle, to share an intimate look at the “Racks In The Middle” rapper’s musical impact in West Coast rap, community outreach efforts, and business dealings.

Spirits Experts Name Their Favorite Reposado Tequilas

Similar to gin and vodka, blanco tequila is often thought of as either a mixing tequila or as something to imbibe solely in the warmer months. If you want a slow sipper and enjoy aged spirits, you might want to take a step up — into the realm of reposado. For non tequila aficionados, we’re talking about bottles that have matured between two and twelve months in oak barrels.

The term “reposado” translates to “rested” in English and that’s exactly what this tequila is. Not aged for a long time. Simply rested to impart a few extra flavors. Unlike the extended aging of añejo tequila, reposado is still fairly roasted agave-heavy but the limited aging does add flavors like vanilla, oak, and caramel into the mix.

Now, don’t go scrambling trying to find a great reposado just yet (though if that’s your aim — we’ve got you). Instead, let your local bartenders help. We asked a few well-known bartenders and mixologists to tell us their favorite sipping reposado tequilas. Keep scrolling to see them all, then stock up for the holiday gatherings to come.

Arette Reposado

Arette Reposado
Arette

Andrew Hueston, bartender at Stephen Starr Restaurant Group in Philadelphia

ABV: 40%

Average Price: $26.99

The Tequila:

I’m a sucker for a value agave with a good story. Arette to me is the best choice. It’s owned and produced by a family with a pedigree in tequila production. As a bonus, it’s inexpensive enough to power your rail or well selection.

There are hints of luscious citrus and juicy grass with citrus-like woodinesss.

Fortaleza Reposado

Fortaleza Reposado
Fortaleza

Dylan Carney, head distiller at Savage & Cooke in Vallejo, California

ABV: 40%

Average Price: $60

The Tequila:

For Tequila, I reach for Fortaleza whenever possible. For me, the key to a great reposado tequila is having that rounded-out structure and sweetness from barrel aging, without covering up the beautiful herbaceous and citrus qualities of the agave. Fortaleza always delivers on that delicate balance.

Espolon Reposado

Espolon Reposado
Espolon

Caley Shoemaker of Altar Spirits in Santa Fe, New Mexico

ABV: 40%

Average Price: $28

The Tequila:

I’m a fan of Espolon and Cuervo Tradicional if I am reaching for a reposado. I generally use these to make cocktails, and both brands offer a great intersection of quality and price point. If I had to pick one it would be Espolon with its cooked agave, caramel, vanilla, and peppery spiced flavor.

Mijenta Reposado

Mijenta Reposado
Mijenta

Matt Chavez, beverage director of Ci Siamo in New York City

ABV: 40%

Average Price: $80

The Tequila:

I have quickly fallen in love with Mijenta Reposado tequila. The Reposado does a fantastic job at keeping the quality of the original juice (the blanco), as the barrel does not manipulate those flavors. It only enhances them and intensifies the grassy and pepper notes. The tequila has a robust and oily body which the reposado carries.

It is not overly aggressive with vanilla and oak flavor. It is a compliment to an already complex tequila.

Tromba Reposado

Tromba Reposado
Tromba

Max Hames, distillery operations manager at Sagamore Spirit in Baltimore

ABV: 40%

Average Price: $46

The Tequila:

Tequila is certainly having its heyday and the benefit for us is access to a growing variety of tequilas and mezcals showcasing distinct regional styles, much in the same way that we’re seeing distinctions drawn throughout regional rye styles develop as rye’s popularity continues to grow.

Tequila Tromba from the highlands of Jalisco, Mexico is a nicely balanced tequila that plays the sweet notes derived from the rich soil of the Jalisco highlands off of the classic citrus and earthy tones tequila is known for.

Corazon Expresiones Elmer T. Lee Reposado

Corazon Expresiones Elmer T. Lee Reposado
Corazon

Katy O’Donnell, national brand ambassador at Buffalo Trace Distillery in Frankfort, Kentucky

ABV: 40%

Average Price: $99

The Tequila:

Corazon Expresiones Elmer T. Lee Reposado. This limited-release tequila normally presents itself as an añejo. Last year, Corazon released a surprise reposado aged in Elmer T. Lee Barrels. The barrel imparts subtle hints of sweet corn and cherry while allowing the cooked agave flavor from the tequila to shine through. It is harmony in a bottle.

Light in color, the way I adore my reposados, this bottle is the most exquisite example of how rested tequila should taste. This line of unique releases is a tequila lover’s dream.

Casa Dragones Reposado

Casa Dragones Reposado
Casa Dragones

Meghan Ireland, head blender at WhistlePig in Shoreham, Vermont

ABV: 40%

Average Price: $105

The Tequila:

Casa Dragones Joven, a blend of silver and añejo, is a current favorite. I enjoy trying other brands that are independent and innovative in their space. But if I had to specifically pick a reposado, I’d go with Casa Dragones as well. It’s a complex tequila with flavors of bright citrus, pear, vanilla, and roasted tree nuts.

Hiatus Reposado

Hiatus Reposado
Hiatus

Eli Servance III, bartender at Cedric’s at The Shed in New York City

ABV: 40%

Average Price: $49.99

The Tequila:

Hiatus Reposado. Slight pepperiness and nuttiness. It’s aged for six months in barrels that previously held American whiskey. It’s mellow, sweet, and filled with roasted agave, cinnamon sugar, vanilla, and oak. It’s a great, warming sipping tequila for the cold days ahead.

Corralejo Reposado

Corralejo Reposado
Corralejo

Julian Flores Torres, bar manager at PALENQUE Kitchen in Tustin, California

ABV: 40%

Average Price: $32

The Tequila:

Mijenta Reposado is a great pick, it delivers a fantastic punch of cooked agave with a beautiful mouth feel that truly showcases what real tequila should taste like. But another great choice is Corralejo Reposado with its notes of cooked agave, nutty sweetness, vanilla, and light spices.

It’s a great “value tequila,” as well.

Siete Leguas Reposado

Siete Leguas Reposado
Siete Leguas

Beau Gaultier, bartender at Bay 6 in Nashville

ABV: 40%

Average Price: $50

The Tequila:

Fortaleza Reposado. Their tequila is responsibly made and well crafted, and it’s perfectly warm on the tongue without losing its terroir to the aging process. But if I had to pick a lesser-known reposado tequila I’d go with Siete Leguas Reposado. It’s known for its bold flavors of roasted agave, vanilla, and oak. It’s a great mixer, but also great neat or on the rocks.
