Yeah, ‘White Lotus’ Star Jennifer Coolidge Has No Clue How Kate Winslet Held Her Breath Underwater For Seven Minutes Either

It’s officially old news to talk about method acting. Nobody really cares if you spent three years perfecting an Elvis accent or sent a dead rat to your co-star in order to get into character. The next big trend in acting is to hold your breath for just long enough that you get the perfect shot, but not so long that you cut off airflow to your brain. It’s a very minuscule window, but it’s all the rage!

Kate Winslet was able to hold her breath for whopping seven minutes while filming Avatar 2, while her costar Sigourney Weaver clocked in at six and a half minutes. This blows Tom Cruise’s former record out of the water (literally!!!) and now women are at the forefront of the “holding your breath underwater” movement. Now, Jennifer Coolidge wants to get in on the competition… just so she can ask them how they do it.

[SPOILERS AHEAD FOR THE WHITE LOTUS]

Coolidge starred in The White Lotus and her character, unfortunately, met her end in the season finale. Her body was seen floating lifelessly for several painful seconds, which turned out to be one of the hardest things for Coolidge to shoot. “It’s just that you have to hold your breath for so long. And you get tired of doing it. You have to go a long period of time,” the actress said while speaking to Entertainment Weekly.

“I heard that Kate Winslet has out-competed Tom Cruise in the holding the breath the longest thing, I heard she can hold her breath for seven minutes or something like that. And boy, I would love to ask her how she did that,” Coolidge said, admitting that she was unable to hold her breath quite as long as they did. “When they say go under and hold your breath as long as you can, I go under and I’m like, ‘Okay, I’m done.’” Considering the fact that all she had to do was lay there and look dead, it worked out great.

The good news is that there are several dozen Avatar installments in the works, so she could always ask James Cameron for some tips. He sure loves telling people what to do.

Feid’s Hit-Making Producers Icon Break Out With Their Alluring ‘Cinco’ Video Featuring Maxiolly

Icon, the Colombian duo behind hits for Feid, are moving out from behind the producer’s console. On Friday (December 9), Icon released their hypnotic “Cinco” music video featuring rising singer-songwriter Maxiolly.

Icon includes Johan “Jowan” Esteban Espinosa and Andrés “Rolo” David Restrepo. The duo have helped globalize the sound of reggaeton music from Medellín, Colombia. Icon have worked with breakthrough Colombian star Feid since the beginning of his career. They were behind the hit “Normal” from his recent release Feliz Cumpleaños Ferxxo Te Pirateamos El Álbum. Icon have also produced music for CNCO, Thalia, and Lali.

In 2019, Icon launched as a musical act. Jowan and Rolo released their debut single “Difícil” alongside Lenny Tavárez and Darell. They scored another hit with “Como Lo Hiciste Ayer” featuring Pedro Capó and Reykon. This past year, Icon signed a new record contract with Warner Music Mexico. They returned as artists with “Enchule” alongside Beéle and Rios.

Proudly demonstrating reggaeton music from Medellín, Icon keep their song “Cinco” purely Colombian with Maxiolly in the mix. The nostalgia that Icon’s music with Feid evokes is taken to another level. Maxiolly sings about a magical night of love-making following a night in the club. His alluring voice makes their sensual lyrics all the more irresistible. Icon lives up to their name with this bedroom banger that feels timeless. In the “Cinco” video, the guys of Icon are at the forefront with Maxiolly.

EDITOR’S PICK: F&E x Lusso Cloud Esto

Streetwear Gift Guide
Free and Easy

Price: $150

Free & Easy always nails that cruisy, Cali 70s-era vibe so smoothly. But perhaps nowhere as well as here — with a cushy-cloud cloggy kick that can work as a house shoe and a lazy-day outdoor all-arounder. The problem with dense wool-lined slippers is that they feel sort of old, un-sexy, and often too casual. These are younger and cooler and just as comfy.

Obviously, the mantra “don’t trip” takes on a double meaning when it’s on a shoe and the cordroy vibes make this feel “of a different era,” in a fun way. If you have a giftee who loves the surfer style that these embody, they’ll be deeply grateful for these kicks. — Steve Bramucci, Life & Style Editor

EDITOR’S PICK: GAP Vintage Soft Hoodie

Streetwear Gift Guide
Gap

Price: $49.99

I’m wearing this hoodie right now in blue. I also bought the purple and the green. It’s the perfect “all the time hoodie” for anyone who likes their logos scarce (me!). Better still, while many hoodies these days are either artificially distressed and look like sleep clothes OR hyper-stylized and look club-ready, this hoodie works all ways. With jeans it’s casual; with a suit it’s stylish; with track pants it’s perfect for the skate park or movie theater.

For me, it’s even look for a better hoodie when this balances cozyness with style so well. I don’t want to enblazon my whole ideology on my sweatshirt and also don’t need to have a $200 version of essentially the same thing. This is my pick for the “Goldlocks hoodie” and I feel confident that anyone who digs streetwear will be hyped to have it.

Note: Don’t sleep on the bolder colors. A nice punch of color really helps the streetwear fan stand out in a crowd of earth-tone wearing friends. — Steve Bramucci, Life & Style Editor

EDITOR’S PICK: Puma Winterized Ralph Men’s Basketball Jacket

Streetwear Gift Guide
Puma

Price: $125

This coat is so comfy while also standing out in the crowd. It’s just stylized enough to not feel generic and the details — from the zipper to the lining to the triple seam at the bottom — just feel so effortlessly cool. For me, as a streetwear fan, this feels like the sort of jacket that would show up in a movie and have me searching later for who made it.

This goes without saying (almost!) because the coat is made of sherpa-style fleece but dang — this this is very cozy. Great for a day hike, sled, or skate and an afternoon beer. Can go upmarket pretty quickly with the right jeans and perfect with a hoodie under if it really gets cold. If you’re looking to give a gift to someone who loves streetwear and needs a new coat, this is an absolute winner. — Steve Bramucci, Life & Style Editor

EDITOR’S PICK: PUMA x Lauren London Suede Women’s Sneakers

Streetwear Gift Guide
Puma

Price: $80

The classic Clyde, remixed by actress, model, and LA icon, Lauren London? Yeah, that’s a move to follow for sure. These Clydes are all earth tones with big, Compton Swap Meet style laces that speak to the city’s b-boy era.

I can go on but really, how much more do you need to know? These are fly!

Okay, one more thing. I bought them for my lady as an early holiday gift and she wore them with a dress, jeans, and a skirt in the span of a week. With more formal clothes, they kept her outfit young and cool; with chiller clothes, they made a strong statement. Yo, Puma, can we get a Men’s run of these? I want someone to buy a pair for me! — Steve Bramucci, Life & Style Editor

EDITOR’S PICK: Blublocker Polarized Orange Original Aviator Sunglasses

Streetwear Gift Guide
Blubocker

Price: $78

I have about ten pairs of sunnies and I wear these — my color is the tortoise shell — all. the. freaking. time. They’re iconic — making you feel like Paul Newman driving race cars in the mid-80s — while also fitting with the current streetwear scene. Unlike a cheap pair of sunglasses, these don’t get wobbly and weak. I bought my pair over the summer and they’re still nice and stiff, sitting perfectly on my face.

The visual clarity is so on point with these that I often wear them indoors for a few minutes before remembering to take them off. And the lightweight nature makes them ultra comfortable. If you buy them for a friend, they’ll be grateful at first and then increasingly so as they appreciate the durability and bask in the complements rolling in! — Steve Bramucci, Life & Style Editor

Buy It Here

EDITOR’S PICK: Gap One-Shoulder Rib Mini Dress

Streetwear Gift Guide
Gap

Price: $55

This dress is a streetwear staple in my mind. I bought it for my lady early and she wore it to our holiday party last week — tons of compliments. It’s got the right energy to pair with some skate shoes and the ribbed texture is enticingly tactile. Usually, longer dresses feel more dressed up but this one is 100% casual in the best way.

It’s also on sale right now, so you’re getting 50% on off.

If you’re friends with a streetwear aficinado who is looking for the dress that can pair with a zip-up sherpa jacket and some cool kicks, this is definitely the one. It’s stylish but will still leave room for her sneakers to make the loudest statement. — Steve Bramucci, Life & Style Editor

Buy It Here

EDITOR’S PICK: Dagne Dover Walker Backpack

walker backpack
Dagne Dover

Price: $165

This Dagne Dover backpack is perfect for the streetwear-loving color blocker in your life. It’s all one tone, so it sort of feels like a purse or satchel, but retains all the functionality of a full-size backpack. Big enough to fit a laptop, this bag is lightweight. It’s sleek and super modern but has enough pockets to keep you organized.

Plus it just looks super cool. That’s a key perk in a world where so many backpacks really can’t match with an outfit.

If you have a friend who likes to be stylish while on the move — headed to the office or coffee shops, etc — this is an absolute vibe. It’s not a heavy travel bag but it’s perfect for kicking around town with style. In summer, it can double as a beach bag, with room for a towel and pairing nicely with a swimsuit. — Steve Bramucci, Life & Style Editor

How Much Did The Di Grasso Family Spend At The White Lotus On Hotel Rooms, Food, And Escorts? (A Lot!)

Karmic payback doesn’t come cheap. In The White Lotus season two finale, alleged “nice guy” Albie (played by Adam DiMarco) tells his dad, Dominic (The Sopranos icon Michael Imperioli), that he’ll put in a good word to his estranged wife, but only if he transfers 50,000 euros into his bank account. He wants the money for Lucia (the wonderfully named Simona Tabasco), an escort who he met three days ago and now wants to rescue, even though she doesn’t need saving; she’s scamming the schmuck.

But Albie isn’t the victim here — Dominic’s bank account is.

How much did he spend during his week-long stay at the White Lotus in sexy Sicily? Let’s begin with the room at the real-life San Domenico Palace, Taormina, A Four Seasons Hotel. The Di Grassos spent a week at the resort (I guess Saturday to Saturday), which means seven nights for three rooms. The summer-time (you can’t tell me these aren’t summertime fits) nightly rate for the “Sea-View Premium Room with Terrace” is 2,740 euros. For an entire week for three rooms with fees, that’s 63,399 euros, or 66,699 American dollars. I’ll round it up to $67,000 for simplicity’s sake (and because, unlike Cameron, Dominic might — might — leave a tip for the cleaning crew).

A daily buffet breakfast is included in the cost, but not other meals. The hotel has a Michelin-starred restaurant, and a “quite reasonable” bill for two people comes to around 400 euros. Considering how much the Di Grasso family ate and drank, Dominic is probably dropping 500 euros a night for him, Albie, and his elderly father, Bert (F. Murray Abraham). Let’s bump it up another 100 euros for lunch, and another hundred for various drinks throughout the day. We’re now at 600 euros ($631) per day on food. Would an occasional Kind Bar or Pop Tart kill them? That’s another $4,000 (I rounded down from the actual figure of $4,417 for the benefit of the doubt) on food and drinks.

Dominic gave Lucia permission to charge expenses to his room, which was not a great idea. One of her dresses cost $1,816, so she and Mia (Beatrice Grannò) spent in the ballpark of $10,000 during their shopping trips — and that’s honestly probably lowballing it. He also paid approximately $3,000 for a threesome with Lucia and Mia, and another $2,000 to cover Albie’s night with Lucia — and that’s before dropping another $52,601 so his son can “save” the sex worker, a.k.a. get scammed by pop culture’s greatest heroes.

We’re now up to $138,601 for the week, and that doesn’t include the car the family took to get yelled at by an old Italian lady, or the plane tickets from California, and other various expenses. I have the total at $145,000, at least. For [BNL voice] one week.

My only complaint about the season finale: we didn’t see Dominic’s reaction to his bill.

A Taylor Swift Lawsuit Was Just Dropped So Swifties Are Convinced They Know What The Next ‘Taylor’s Version’ Album Will Be

For the past five years now, Taylor Swift has been facing a lawsuit over “Shake It Off.” It started in 2017, when songwriters Sean Hall and Nathan Butler filed a lawsuit accusing Taylor Swift of copyright infringement, claiming the “Shake It Off” chorus copies 3LW’s “Playas Gonna Hate,” which they wrote. Things have gone back and forth since then, with the latest news being Swift’s failed attempt at getting the lawsuit dismissed in September.

Now, though, there’s a significant update: Ahead of the scheduled trial in January 2023, Swift and the songwriters reached an agreement and the lawsuit has been dropped, Billboard reports. Their joint filing asks the judge for an order “dismissing this action in its entirety.”

This clears the way for Swift to re-record the song as part of a 1989 (Taylor’s Version) album, so naturally, Swifties are convinced that the next “Taylor’s Version” rerecording will indeed be 1989.

“I CANT BELIEVE IT REALLY MEANS 1989 TAYLOR S VERSION IS COMING ??????,” one excited fan reacted on Twitter. Another referenced Swift’s new “Directors On Directors” interview with Martin McDonagh, writing, “imagine at the end of the directors interview she randomly says oh btw 1989 Taylor’s version out at midnight.”

Check out some other reactions to the “Shake It Off” news below.

The Latest ‘Harry And Meghan’ Trailer Unpacks The Real Reason The Sussexes Fled The British Royal Family

You might think that the holidays are a hard time for you and your family, and you would be right! They are hard for everyone. But they are particularly hard for Prince Harry and Meghan Markle, who were basically bullied and (allegedly) threatened while taking on their Royal duties. Sure, your grandma gets you the same sweater every year, but a least she doesn’t exist in a monarchy aimed at overpowering those less fortunate than herself, right? Hopefully!

The formerly royal couple have been detailing exactly why they chose to leave the infamous family, and a new clip from their upcoming documentary shines a little light on what went down across the pond.

“Our security was being pulled. Everyone in the world knew where we were,” Markle said, detailing that she and he husband were put at risk. “I wasn’t being thrown to the wolves, I was being fed to the wolves,” she added.

Prince Harry then alleged that the Royal Family was always looking out for his brother, Prince William, the heir to the throne, while throwing him under the bus. “They were happy to lie to protect my brother,” the Prince said. “They were never willing to tell the truth to protect us.” After the media continued to tear down the couple, they made the decision to do what was best for them and their future. Prince Harry added, “I said to her ‘we need to get out.’”

The duo did get out, leaving the Royal Family and stepping down from their duties in early 2020. The two now live in California with their two kids after meeting the old-fashioned way: through Snapchat. The “old” in “old fashioned” here means pre-2020, obviously.

Harry and Meghan Volume I is now streaming on Netflix, with Volume 2 continuing on December 15th.

Lauren Jauregui Blows Smoke Into Snow The Product’s Mouth In Their Sapphic ‘Piña’ Video

The music video for Snow Tha Product‘s sultry collaboration with Lauren Jauregui was finally released on Friday (December 9). The alluring visual for “Piña” was worth the wait with Snow That Product nearly sharing a kiss with Lauregui.

“Piña” is one of the songs from Snow Tha Product’s To Anywhere album. In the sexy reggaeton romp, Snow Tha Product and Jauregui, who are both openly bisexual, sing about bringing all the women to the yard with appetizing pineapples. In October, Snow Tha Product shared with Uproxx that Jauregui inspired her to release her album.

“She gave me her blessing to put ‘Piña’ on [the album], and I thought it was very fitting because the balls to have a project really came from Lauren hyping me up, so I love that,” she said. “We’ve been very honest in everything that we’ve worked on together, so that’s all you can hope for as an artist and with a collaboration: to just keep it very cool, very good vibes, and very honest.”

In the “Piña” video, Snow Tha Product and Lauregui bring the Sapphic energy behind the song to life. Together, they party in bar filled with women and people in the LGBTQ+ community. Jauregui later leads Snow Tha Product to the back of the bar where they share some cozy moments. While looking like they’re almost going to kiss, Jauregui blows smoke into Snow The Product’s mouth. To see girl power and queer empowerment all in one video makes it so refreshing to watch.

A Ton Of ‘GMA’ Behind-The-Scenes Drama Is Reportedly Flying Amid The Ongoing Amy Robach And T.J. Holmes Alleged Affair Fiasco

The alleged affair between Good Morning America anchors Amy Robach and T.J. Holmes is still causing behind-the-scenes drama at ABC. At first, the network appeared to be leaning into the debacle with sources going so far to describe the situation as “ratings gold.” Holmes and Robach even joked about the fiasco on the air, but that’s apparently when things went south.

The Monday after the couple quipped about their wild week, ABC benched both of them pending an investigation. Turns out, Holmes has been accused of having a pre-Robach affair. His fling with Robach also reportedly caused issues with network anchors who want nothing to do with the situation. Via Page Six:

As network execs mull over the anchors’ fate amid their scandalous romance, sources tell Page Six that Robach’s “20/20” co-anchor David Muir “wants no part” of the drama.

“He’s not having it. He’s the face of the evening news and nothing about him ever makes it into the papers. He’s very private and no one at ABC likes the way Amy and T.J. handled it,” a source told Page Six.

According to sources, the official network stance was not to address the situation. However, that went out the window when Holmes made a “great week” quip on the air, which reportedly made his ABC co-workers “very unhappy.”

“If the decision is to not address it, then don’t address it!” a source told Page Six. “T.J. made light of it on-air. Amy’s smarter than that, but how else is she supposed to respond?”

As of this writing, ABC has not made a decision about Robach and Holmes’ future at the network.

Doja Cat’s ‘Vegas’ Is Not Eligible For An 2023 Oscars Nomination And An Academy Awards Rule Seems To Indicate Why

Doja Cat cracked the top 10 of Billboard‘s Hot 100 chart and hit No. 3 on the Radio Songs chart with “Vegas,” her contribution to the Elvis soundtrack, but the song unfortunately will not earn her an Oscar, according to Variety.

“The lead single from the soundtrack to Baz Luhrmann’s Presley biopic, it was written by Doja Cat and producers Roget Chahayed and Yeti Beats, but its interpolation of the Presley classic “Hound Dog” (by Mike Stoller and the late Jerry Lieber) apparently doomed it for consideration,” the publication reported. “Oscar rules demand that both words and music must be ‘original, and written specifically for the motion picture’ and must be the result of ‘creative interaction between the filmmakers and the songwriters who have been engaged to work directly on the motion picture.’”

The same report published today (December 12) relayed that the Tár score has also been disqualified from Oscar contention: “While some sources claimed that the dramatic score exceeded the minimum 35% of total music in the film, as called for by Academy rules, it may have run afoul of another rule that states ‘a score shall not be eligible if it has been diluted by the use of pre-existing music.’”

The full nomination field for the 95th Academy Awards will be unveiled January 24, and the ceremony is slated for March 12. See the full 2023 Oscars timeline here.
