My Morning Jacket Is Going All Out For Their ‘Circuital (Deluxe Edition)’ Reissue

My Morning Jacket is plenty active in the present, wrapping an expansive US tour last month and releasing a self-titled album in October 2021. But the Kentucky-bred band is dipping into the past.

MMJ announced Wednesday (November 2) that they will drop Circuital (Deluxe Edition) next month and explained all that the vast reissue will entail.

“The 3xLP Deluxe variants include the original album PLUS 10 unreleased demos, a glow-in-the-dark triple gatefold with expanded artwork, Zoetrope LP labels, owl graphic side etching & a fold-out poster with unreleased studio photos,” My Morning Jacket’s Instagram caption reads. “The 2xCD Deluxe includes the original album PLUS 10 unreleased demos, a 6-panel digipack and 20 page booklet. ALSO, we’ve some of our tour merch to our store in case you missed it on the road!”

“Every record is like a time machine and we all keep changing and changing,” vocalist Jim James said in a statement. “I’ve come to see myself as a kind of older sibling to the younger version of me, so it’s almost like I become two beings when I sing a song from the olden times: one is the person who wrote the song so long ago, the other is the current me who’s there as support for my younger self, alive forever in the multiverse. And then those two voices combine to form something new and different every time.”

In July 2020, MMJ similarly revived older material with The Waterfall II, released five years after the Grammy-nominated The Waterfall. Circuital was first released in May 2011 and also received a Grammy nomination for Best Alternative Music Album.

Circuital (Deluxe Edition) is out 12/9 via ATO Records. Pre-save it here.

The Surprise Sleeper Horror Hit ‘Terrifier 2’ Has Been Submitted For Oscar Consideration, Mostly As A Joke

For the last few weeks, a genuine word-of-mouth hit has been popping up on the Dwayne Johnson-dominated box office charts. It’s called Terrifier 2. It’s a sequel to a 2016 film that achieved cult status but is not widely known. It runs 138 minutes. (For perspective, that’s eight minutes shorter than Goodfellas.) And yet it’s managed to click with enough people it’s already made over 30 times its budget. But why stop with money? Why not submit it for Oscar consideration.

Well, that’s what they’ve done. As per Variety, Bloody Disgusting — the horror news site-turned-film studio — decided to take their emphatically gory new movie and ensured that it would be sent to voters at the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences. You know, as a bit.

“No, it will never actually happen,” wrote Bloody Disgusting. “Yes, it’s a total goof. But you know what? The thought of having members of the Academy endure an extreme unrated horror movie that they would otherwise consider beneath them? That’s just too hilarious of an opportunity to pass up.”

It may be a joke, but they’re taking it semi-seriously. Bloody Disgusting is calling on fans to advocate for accolades on social media, using the hashtag #OscarsForArt. That refers to its nefarious anti-hero, Art the Clown, who unleashes his bloody fury on a small down on Halloween night.

Considering the Oscars telecast need a win, surely it couldn’t hurt to throw some love to David Howard Thompson. It’ll be a nice honor, especially as he’ll soon be seen playing Not Exactly the Grinch in a horror parody called The Mean One — a film that would make for a good double with the horror take on Winnie-the-Pooh.

21 Savage Thinks He May Be The Greatest Rapper From London So Drake Wants Them To Headline A Show At The O2 Arena

Drake and 21 Savage’s Her Loss is highly anticipated, especially after being delayed a week. They’ve been keeping up the momentum with lots of fake press, the latest of which is a spoof of a Howard Stern interview.

Stern asks, “Do you feel any affiliation with the country that you were born in?” 21 first talks about how he was born in London but his family migrated from the West Indies. Then, Drake begins his answer, saying, “You know my answer, obviously. That place is like everything to me.” 21 interrupts him, declaring, “I might be the greatest rapper from my country, too, though.” Drake agrees: “You know a lot of people say that, right? You know a lot of people are like, ‘You’re the pride of London.’ That’s why that London O2 night has to happen. That’s some real homecoming sh*t. I’m excited for that.” Could an official announcement be on the way?

The spoof interview also includes a detailed conversation about Drake’s favorite porn. “Top,” Drake answers with certainty. “Highest tier of top givers. That’s really what I’m consistently, like on a daily basis, tuned into. Just really, like, those are the real superstars of the world to me.”

Mike Brown Torched The Officials For Not Calling A Travel On Tyler Herro’s Game-Winning Three

The Miami Heat avenged a loss from Saturday in Sacramento with a hard-fought 110-107 win over the Kings, this time at home in Miami, on Wednesday night.

The fourth quarter saw both teams go back and forth, with the game up for grabs into the closing seconds when Tyler Herro hit a tough three with under three seconds on the clock to give the Heat the win.

It was an incredible shot, but also looked to be a travel as Herro does a little hop with both feet to reset after the initial pump fake. It went uncalled, so it’s neither here nor there at this point, but that didn’t stop Kings head coach Mike Brown from ripping into the officials after the game for the “unbelievable” decision not to call a travel on Herro’s final shot, while also recognizing that he was going to get a fine no matter what so he might as well air all his grievances with the officiating in the game as well.

Most teams feel they get a bad whistle on most nights, because the reality is officiating NBA games, with as much contact as there is and as fast as the action is, is a nearly impossible task. That said, Brown probably has a reasonable gripe about the Herro shot as, in the words of Bill Raftery, those puppies were not organized, but there won’t be much satisfaction for Brown if that comes up as a wrong call on the Last Two Minute report tomorrow — along with what is almost assuredly a fine coming his way.

Drake And 21 Savage Share The ‘Her Loss’ Album Cover And Fans Are Roasting It

Taylor Swift made history as the first artist to occupy all top-10 spots on Billboard‘s Hot 100 this week. Drake was the previous record-holder by claiming nine after Certified Lover Boy‘s September 2021 arrival. (One of those nine was “Knife Talk” featuring 21 Savage and Project Pat.) And now, Drake and 21 Savage are coming for it all with Her Loss, their collaborative album dropping Friday (November 4).

The album’s rollout has been immaculate, including a photoshopped Vogue cover, faux NPR Tiny Desk Concert teaser and spoof Howard Stern interview. Shortly after sharing the Stern spoof on Wednesday night (November 2), Drake and 21 revealed the Her Loss “front cover” — and fans are not impressed.

Some people fixated on identifying the woman. There was speculation that it was Sukihana before Complex confirmed it was Sukii Baby. Regardless, the lukewarm feedback is aimed at Drake:

Her Loss was confirmed in the video for “Jimmy Cooks,” Drake’s Honestly, Nevermind No. 1 single featuring 21 Savage. The initial release date was October 28 but had to be pushed to November 4 because of producer Noah “40” Shebib testing positive for COVID-19.

“Our brother @ovo40 got Covid while mixing and mastering the crack so he’s resting up and NOVEMBER 4TH is HER LOSS day we’ll see you soon,” Drake wrote on his Instagram Story last week.

It’s possible that the Her Loss era could extend into 2023. In one of the Howard Stern spoof clips, Drake and 21 Savage tease a possible performance at London’s famed O2 Arena “as some real homecoming sh*t” for Savage, “the pride of London.”

21 Savage Names His Favorite ‘Harry Potter’ Book, And Drake Shares Savage’s Favorite Places To Read

Drake and 21 Savage have the internet buzzing tonight (November 4) by trickling out clips from what can only be presumed as a spoof interview with Howard Stern. The Her Loss rollout, so far, has mocked the usual promotional cycles artists go through, including a fake Vogue cover and a teaser for an NPR Tiny Desk Concert that is not actually happening. But we’re holding out hope that Savage’s love for reading is real.

One of the Stern clips features Stern asking if Drake and Savage have “a nerdy book club.” Drake calls Savage “an avid reader.” The OVO boss adds, “We’ll be in the strip club, backstage at the show, in his hood, like, on his block and sh*t, and he’ll just pull a book out.”

Charlotte’s Web,” Savage interjects. “Harry Potter, too. I love ’em. Sorcerer’s Stone m*therf*cker.”

Harry Potter may be the UK’s best wizard, but in a separate Stern clip, Savage says he “might be the greatest rapper from my country” and Drake calls him “the pride of London.” And that’s before mentioning the clip that explores Drake’s porn preferences and views on monogamy.

The official album cover for Her Loss was also revealed tonight, featuring Sukii Baby. See it below.
