Trevor Noah Isn’t Surprised That Oprah Winfrey Endorsed John Fetterman Over Dr. Oz, Because ‘At Some Point In Life, You Have To Kill The Monster That You Created’

In 2019, the man who invented the Labradoodle called the hybrid pup his “life’s regret,” noting that he “opened a Pandora’s box and released a Frankenstein’s monster” that has resulted in the unethical breeding of various other “designer dogs.” The way Trevor Noah sees it, Oprah Winfrey might just know what that feels like. Because, despite her many wonderful contributions to the world, she’s also largely responsible for Dr. Mehmet Oz — which doesn’t seem to be among her proudest achievements.

Last Thursday, Oprah participated in a virtual event where she admitted that, “[I]f I lived in Pennsylvania, I would’ve already cast my vote for John Fetterman, for many reasons.” It was a major bombshell — one that had Noah saying “Wow!” And not just because she was throwing her support behind Fetterman, but because “she came out against Dr. Oz — the man she created. The TV doctor she made famous.” Ultimately, however, Noah didn’t seem terribly surprised that Oprah refused to back her own horse:

“And that’s always how it goes, people. At some point in life, you have to kill the monster you create. Yeah, Dr. Frankenstein and his Creature. Obi-Wan and Anakin. Parents and their kids. Every parent knows the day will eventually come where you have to fight your children to the death to determine who will control the remote control.”

Noah might have felt badly for the quack TV doctor, knowing that having his mentor turn on him was probably a heartbreaking experience. Fortunately, he’s sure Dr. Oz has some sort of fake medicinal cure for it.

You can watch the full clip above, beginning around the 3:40 mark.

‘Vogue’ Is Suing Drake And 21 Savage For Their Fake Cover Publicity Stunt

Welp. That was fun while it lasted. Drake and 21 Savage’s cheeky rollout for their album Her Loss certainly had its admirers, but not everybody has a sense of humor lately (especially not Vogue Editor-In-Chief Anna Wintour, if the thinly veiled analog from The Devil Wears Prada was even remotely accurate). TMZ reports the rappers’ Vogue cover troll has drawn the magazine’s legal department’s ire; Vogue has filed a lawsuit against them, saying that Vogue and Wintour “have not endorsed [Her Loss] in any way,” despite Drake thanking the EIC for her blessing on Instagram.

Drake and Savage promoted their fake cover with straight faces — along with an accompanying “What’s In My Bag” segment featuring 21 — confusing some fans into believing they were really on the October cover (even though the October issue had already hit newsstands). In reality, the duo’s street team (remember those!?) handed out copies of the phony magazine, which contained photoshopped features and ads putting the two rappers front and center. Still, Vogue isn’t laughing; the lawsuit reportedly demands at least $4 million in damages.

However, not every outlet took the campaign as seriously. NPR expressed enthusiasm for a potential Tiny Desk in response to the fake one, while Howard Stern praised the boys’ fake interview with him. COLORS Studio and SNL have yet to respond.

Update: COLORS didn’t have thoughts, but they certainly reacted.

Halloween Bumped Michael Jackson’s ‘Thriller’ Really Close To The Top Of The ‘Billboard’ And Spotify Charts

Michael Jackson’s discography is full of songs that are timeless classics, one of which has been getting some increased attention lately: On the latest Billboard Hot 100 chart (dated November 12), the 1982 favorite “Thriller” re-entered pretty high up, all the way near the top at No. 26.

As for why Jackson’s 40-year-old song is doing so well all this time later, it would seem the explanation is a seasonal uptick in interest due to Halloween.

On the Spotify Global Daily chart for October 31, “Thriller” had 1,947,543 plays, good for No. 51 on the chart. However, “Thriller – 2003 Edit” fared well, too, garnering an additional 1,769,662 streams and sliding into No. 63. Combined, the two versions had 3,717,205 plays that day, and if the versions had been lumped together in the rankings, they would have reached No. 13.

The two “Thriller” versions fared even better on the US chart: “Thriller” was No. 21 and the “2003 Edit” was No. 23. The versions’ combined 1,882,804 streams would have been good enough for No. 2 behind Taylor Swift’s “Anti-Hero.”

“Thriller” did well on Spotify’s weekly charts, too. On the Global chart dated November 3, only the base “Thriller” made the top 200, sliding in at No. 195 with 6,371,382 streams. In just the US, though, both versions charted, and combined, they would have hit No. 29 with 5,032,990 cumulative streams.

Revisit the song’s iconic video below.

Lindsay Lohan Hears One ‘Mean Girls’ Line From Strangers More Than Any Other

Mean Girls is like a classic Seinfeld or The Simpsons episode, where nearly every line is a memorable quote. “Stop trying to make fetch happen.” “On Wednesdays we wear pink.” “Get in, loser. We’re going shopping.” But there’s one quote from the 2004 comedy that star Lindsay Lohan hears more than any other.

On Tuesday’s episode of GMA, the actress was asked to name the Mean Girls line that she gets “over and over again” from strangers. Lohan replied, “I get the ‘Lindsay, what day is it?’ and then I always fall for it. It’s October 3, like, they have to do it to me every time!” It’s probably better to hear that than “oh my god, Danny DeVito! I love your work!”

Lohan was on GMA to promote her wild-sounding Netflix movie, Falling for Christmas, which includes a cover of “Jingle Bell Rock,” the song she memorably performed with Rachel McAdams, Lacey Chabert, and Amanda Seyfried in Mean Girls. “It wasn’t really suppose to happen like that, it was just a conversation,” she said. “I was like, ‘Oh, this would be fun if we did the Mean Girls song.’ And after the movie was finally done editing, they were like, ‘But you promised you’d do the song!’ And I was like, ‘OK, let’s do it!’”

Lohan better not fall for “what day is it?” on Christmas, of all days.

Zac Efron Showed Off His Jacked First Look At The Action In His New A24 Wrestling Drama, ‘The Iron Claw’

Zac Efron has shared a first look at his new role in the A24 wrestling drama, The Iron Claw, based on the true life story of the Von Erich family. Efron will reportedly play Kevin Von Erich, one of the sons in the wrestling dynasty that was popular in the ’60s and ’70s and also may have been cursed.

In a new Instagram post, Efron shared a First Look at The Iron Claw, and it’s immediately clear that Efron went all out getting jacked for the role. The actor looks particularly shredded as he lays out a devastating move in the ring.

You can see Efron in The Iron Claw below:

As for the real Kevin Von Erich, he praised Efron’s commitment to the role after seeing his body transformation in a recent set of paparazzi photos. His daughters were also big fans of the casting choice.

“I saw a picture of the guy, he looked great,” Von Erich told TMZ. “I don’t think I ever looked that good. I just saw this picture and he looks really good and muscular. He must really be working out hard. … My daughters love him, and so they think he’s the right guy to do it.”

The Bear star Jeremy Allen White has also joined the production as Kerry Von Erich a.k.a. the “Texas Tornado.” Unfortunately, there is not a super jacked photo of White yet, but keep those fingers crossed.

Who Plays The New Cal In ‘Manifest?’ Meet Ty Doran

Manifest Season 4 brought Flight 828’s mystery to Netflix, and with it, major changes happened for one character. In between all of the shuffling between NBC and Netflix, it seems that troubled twin Cal Stone touched an airplane wing, and that instantly aged him five years. Does that new five years now close the gap between himself and reality, all after every passenger missed five years due to a mystery blip? There’s no telling, but we’re here to talk about the new actor who’s playing Olive’s brother.

^^ Ty Doran ^^ is now stepping into the same shoes (albeit in a bigger size) that Jack Messina once filled as the young Cal. Messina has been sharing headlines about the sci-fi soap-opera’s return, which makes this all very bittersweet.

As it happens, Doran does look as though he could be an older Messina, so the change actually isn’t too jarring. Doran has been kicking around in Hollywood for a handful of years. He began with voice work and moved into guest roles on The Blacklist, Bull, and Chicago Fire. And he’ll bring home the final full season of Manifest, which will run at least 20 episodes with the first chunk already landing on November 4.

How this will all end for Cal remains a mystery. He suffered from seemingly grave health issues in earlier seasons and experienced particularly debilitating callings and high fevers. When Season 4 begins, he’s hiding from the public at large to avoid media and government scrutiny for his miraculous new stature. All of this is happening while the passengers collectively careen towards a June 2, 2024 death date, which I still maintain would be a cool day to drop the final batch of episodes. It seems doubtful that this is the actual plan, although it might have been the template laid out when showrunner Jeff Rake originally aimed for six seasons. At least Cal will get to experience some of it as a young adult, though.

Manifest‘s fourth season began streaming on November 4.

‘Weird Al’ Yankovic Celebrates His Zany Biopic By Performing His Greatest Hits With Classroom Instruments

“Weird Al” Yankovic appeared on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon. With the help of Fallon himself and house band The Roots, Yankovic performed a medley of his greatest hits — including “Another One Rides The Bus,” “Eat It,” and more. Giving even more of a comedic spin, the group performed with only classroom instruments for children. Needless to say, it still ruled, even with a tiny accordion and xylophone.

Yankovic’s presence was in support of his recent biopic, which is currently streaming on Roku. Starring actor Daniel Radcliffe playing the accordion legend, Weird: The Al Yankovic Story is a zany, heightened portrayal of the musician’s life.

“It’s not a documentary, it’s inspired by real life,” Yankovic shared. “And there are enough nuggets of truth sprinkled throughout that I think you can call it a biopic in that sense. I’ve seen a few more biopics since my movie was done, and I still think, yeah, that’s not any less true than my movie.”

Along with the movie, Yankovic recently dropped a new song, “Now You Know.” Yankovic, along with Radcliffe and his co-star Evan Rachel Wood, had been campaigning for the single to get a submission to the Oscars. Roku, the streaming service, ultimately declined — as they are opting for Emmy nominations instead.

Dua Lipa Discussed Her Fear About Pursuing A Big-Screen Acting Career And Why She’s Taking ‘Baby Steps’

With millions of albums sold, multiple Grammy Awards to her name, and sold-out tour dates around the world; there is no denying Dua Lipa’s star power. But after dominating one industry, it is only natural to want to branch out and the “Levitating” singer is doing just that.

When Lipa’s not working on her upcoming album, the pop sensation produces a lifestyle newsletter Service95 and podcast Acts Of Service. If that wasn’t enough, the “Sweetest Pie” singer will be making her acting debut in spy thriller, Argylle, sometime next year via Apple TV+. However, her appearance in the film almost didn’t happen.

On the latest episode of her podcast, Lipa revealed her fear of stepping into the world of acting to guest Emmy-winning actor and producer Dan Levy. The Schitt’s Creek star asks Lipa whether or not she’s enjoys acting, to which she replied, “I did, I did. I had a really great time [on set], and it was really exciting. But I think for me, it’s baby steps.”

Lipa goes on to expand on her hesitation, stating, “I think my biggest thing would be taking on a really big role and be like, f*ck, now I have to be an actor and feel these emotions and feelings on camera when I haven’t brought myself up to that point yet.”

Nerves are natural especially when you’re on starring alongside Superman star Henry Cavill as well as veteran actors Catherine O’Hara, Samuel L. Jackson, and Bryce Dallas Howard. On the other hand, if Dua Lipa’s acting skills are any where near as good as her music, we’re sure she’ll do just fine.

Dua Lipa is a Warner Music artist. Uproxx is an independent subsidiary of Warner Music Group.

Don’t Worry, Everybody, Mike Lindell And His ‘Crime Desk’ Are Watching ‘All The Bad Guys Out There’ As Midterm Voting Begins

As the polls open on Tuesday for the midterm elections, Mike Lindell is warning all the “bad guys” out there that his cyber team is watching every single race in the country. Granted, the last time the MyPillow CEO bragged about his elite squad of digital gurus, his “Cyber Symposium” spectacularly blew up in his face as zero evidence of election fraud was found. However, this time Lindell is encouraging people to send him “crime” tips, which is rich coming from a guy who had his phone seized by the FBI in a Hardee’s drive-thru.

Via Ron Filipkowski on Twitter:

We’re gonna be watching every race. We’re gonna have the real-time Crime Desk going at FrankSpeech.com. You can watch me there tomorrow night. We are tracking every race by cyber. I want all the bad guys out there to know, through the Edison report, we are watching. We also have another way to watch what’s going on with the computers and the machine. So I’m putting them all on notice. They’re all on notice. You can turn in at Crime.FrankSpeech.Com if you see anything. Turn it in there.

Again, Lindell has yet to provide any evidence of fraud in the 2020 election despite dropping millions of his own money and making his MyPillow products so toxic that Walmart executives stopped returning his calls. He’s now been forced to sell coffee with his new MyCoffee brand, which has failed to take off like his pillow empire.

Lindell has also been hit with several multi-billion dollar lawsuits, yet clearly, that has not stopped him from running face-first into another batch of wacky election fraud schemes.
