Drake Lost $2 Million After Placing A Bet On UFC Fighter Israel Adesanya

On the heels of Her Loss, his collaborative album with 21 Savage, Drake was feeling a stroke of luck yesterday. Ahead of last night’s UFC fight between Alex Pereira and Israel Adesanya, Drake placed a $2 million bet behind the latter using betting app, Stake. Unfortunately, the bet didn’t work out in his favor.

On his Instagram story, Drake shared a screenshot of the bet he placed on Stake, captioned “Been focused on the album I gotta get back to stacking up.”

As a result of the bet, Drake lost $2 million.

It appears Drake may also soon be in the hole for more money. Last week, after the release of Her Loss, Vogue filed a lawsuit against Drake and 21 for creating a fake Vogue cover to promote their album.

According to TMZ, Vogue‘s parent company Conde Nast said Vogue and its editor-in-chief Anna Wintour “‘have not endorsed [Her Loss] in any way’”… and have asked multiple times for all promos using the Vogue name to be taken down, but nothing’s been done.”

At the time of writing, neither Drake nor 21 Savage have publically commented on the matter. Though it shouldn’t burn too much of a hole in Drake’s pocket, because as he raps on “Major Distribution,” he is currently doing “Bad Bunny numbers” on streaming platforms. “It’s a robbery,” he continues, “500 million, just for Aubrey.”

Fox News Finally Dumps Trump (And Kisses Up To Kari Lake) In The Latest ‘SNL’ Cold Open

Last week wasn’t a great one for the Republican party. For months, they’d promised a “red wave,” where they’d destroy the Democrats’ hold over Congress. That didn’t happen. What did happen is a lot of Fox News viewers tuned in to watch hosts become increasingly verklempt. Sure enough, that was the focus of the latest SNL Cold Open.

Mikey Day, Heidi Gardner, and Bowen Yang played the chipper hosts of Fox & Friends, who were no longer so upbeat. They started with a chat with one of the only Trump-backed candidates not to totally flame out (but who is currently behind in the results): Kari Lake, the former anti-Trump anchor who loves denying the 2020 election and doing Zoom interviews in Portrait Mode.

Cecily Strong did an eerily accurate take on Lake in a bit that torpedoed her voter fraud schtick. “It’s my belief that the election was rigged and the results should be thrown out,” she said, bemoaning the fact that her opponent, Katie Hobbs, currently has a slight edge on her. After her Fox & Friends hosts informed her that she’d suddenly taken the lead, Lake — who’s insinuated that she’d only accept the results if she won — pulled a 180, saying, “Which is why I have always said, this is a democracy. Trust the system. Trust the voters.”

Later they got a call from someone some at the network wish would quit while he’s behind: former president Donald Trump (James Austin Johnson), who took some time out from his daughter Tiffany’s wedding to blabber about nonsense. Eventually the Fox News hosts had to break up with him.

“Mr. President. I don’t know how to tell you this. But we have moved on. We can’t have you on the show anymore,” said Gardner’s Ainsley Earhardt.

“What? What did I do?” a crestfallen Trump asked. “Was it the insurrection?” He then went through a long, long list of his many scandals: the impeachment, “blackmailing Ukraine,” Charlottesville, etc. But the real reason was because he lost.

“We just don’t see a future with you,” Day’s Steve Doocy told him. “But we can still be friends.” They then pushed him off the screen. But will the real Fox News be so bold as to dump him? Or will Teflon Don have his 100th comeback?

The Bucs Tried To Throw A Fade To Tom Brady That Failed Spectacularly

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers and Seattle Seahawks were in Munich on Sunday for the NFL’s first regular season visit to Germany, and the first half was all Bucs, as they took a 14-0 lead into halftime.

Seattle would get a field goal on their opening drive of the third quarter, but as was the case in the second quarter, Tampa’s offense found its groove and once again marched down the field deep into Seahawks territory. Early in the drive, they picked up a decent gain on a direct snap to Leonard Fournette in which Tom Brady split out wide and was uncovered as he trotted down the field.

The Bucs coaching staff and Brady noticed this, and decided to go back to that formation for some trickery as they got into the red zone, asking Fournette to fake like he was running another sweep to his right and then throw back to Brady on a fade. The problem was, Tariq Woolen was simply baiting the Bucs and dropped back into coverage on Brady, easily picking off the Fournette pass as Brady slipped and fell (getting a 15-yard penalty in the process for tripping Woolen as he came down with the ball).

I get what the Bucs saw on the first play, but they didn’t factor in the situation. At midfield, the risk of a Brady throwback is maybe a 15-yard gain and a first down, so Seattle can just ignore him knowing someone would get over there eventually to force him to step out of bounds. In the red zone, the Seahawks know a throwback would be a touchdown, so they’re going to keep an eye on him rather than just abandon him completely, and the Bucs somehow didn’t recognize that’d be the case.

The good news for Tampa is the Seahawks would turn it over on the ensuing drive with their own red zone turnover when Geno Smith fumbled the ball, so it didn’t produce a huge swing, but I think Byron Leftwich can tear that play out of his playbook as long as Brady is his QB.

Dave Chappelle Dragged Kanye, Herschel Walker, Trump, And Even Melania In His Epic ‘SNL’ Monologue

Over the last few years, Dave Chappelle has run into no small amount of controversy, but during his third stint hosting SNL, he more or less played nice. In fact, during what must be the longest opening monologue in the show’s history, he opened by dragging someone who said something much worse than he ever did: Kanye West.

Chappelle kicked off his 15-minute set by reading a prepared statement: “I renounce anti-Semitism in all its forms.” He added, “And that, Kanye, is how you buy yourself some time.”

Much of Chappelle’s monologue was about punching up, albeit at people who aren’t doing so hot right now. West sure isn’t. Throughout his set, Chappelle walked right up to the line of saying something offensive, if only to show there’s lines he won’t cross.

“I’ve been doing this 35 years. Two words in English language words you should never say: ‘The’ and ‘Jews.’ No one does good after they say that,” he cracked.

“I don’t think Kanye is crazy, he’s possibly not well,” he said. “I’ve been to Hollywood, this is just what I saw. It’s a lot of Jews. Like a lot. There’s a lot of Black people in Ferguson, Missouri, doesn’t mean they run the place. You might go out in Hollywood and you might start connecting some kind of lines and you might adopt the delusion that Jews run showbusiness. It’s not a crazy thing to think but it’s a crazy thing to say out loud.”

Chappelle later moved onto Herschel Walker, whose Trump-backed Senate race so underperformed that there’s a runoff election for him and incumbent Raphael Warnock. “I don’t want to speak badly of him because he’s Black, but I have to admit he’s observably stupid,” he cracked. “He’s the guy who looks like he thinks before he makes a move on Tic-Tac-Toe.”

He soon tackled Trump, dissecting — as a current Ohio resident — why people love him: because, he argued, he’s an “honest liar.” That is, he confirmed long-held suspicions about how a crooked system works…but only because he continues to take part in it.

But perhaps his best line was about Trump’s better half. Of Melania, he said she “looks like the kind of chick that James Bond would smash but not trust.”

You can watch the full, very long monologue in the video above.

Tate McRae Once Again Clarifies Her Role On Justin Bieber’s ‘Purpose’ Tour

Tate McRae slayed BBC Radio 1’s Live Lounge last week with a slowed-down version of her September single “Uh Oh” and a pristine cover of Katy Perry’s “The One That Got Away.” McRae is flying high after releasing her debut album I Used To Think I Could Fly, most recently teaming up with Tiësto for “10:35,” but she spent some of her time with BBC Radio 1 to reminisce on her preteen, pre-fame days. Specifically, she yet again cleared up persistent rumors that she was a backup dancer on Justin Bieber’s Purpose Tour.

“Wikipedia has done me so dirty,” the 19-year-old said with a laugh. “I mean, like, everyone has said to me, ‘Oh my God! You were Justin Bieber’s main backup dancer!’ And I’m like, ‘I was 12!’ Like, there’s no chance I would be his backup dancer. … On his Purpose Tour, he’d pick like four kids, and they were dancers. He’d audition them. But it, like, wasn’t that big of a deal. There were a lot of kids that did this.”

McRae shared the same sentiment as Uproxx’s May cover star — “That’s a Wikipedia fact that’s not true; I don’t know why that’s on the internet and how that became a rumor” — and additionally dished on working with Billie Eilish, a noted Bieber fan, and Finneas on her major-label debut single “Tear Myself Apart.”

“It was huge for me, at the time, because they’re big idols of mine,” McRae said. “When I released that song, I was super new to the industry. But, I recently wrote a song for my upcoming record with Finneas, and we’re friends now. It’s funny how much time has changed things. This time, I was actually able to be in the room with Finneas and write something I really, really care about.” (I Used To Think I Could Fly closer “I Still Say Goodnight” was co-written with and produced by Finneas.)

As for Bieber, today (November 13) marks seven years since he released his highly anticipated comeback album Purpose, which housed massive hits like “Love Yourself,” “Sorry” and “What Do You Mean?

SZA Will Perform On ‘Saturday Night Live’ Next Month, Leading Fans To Believe Her New Album Is On The Way

Could new music from SZA be on the way? Fans seem to believe her sophomore album could arrive as early as next month. Last month, SZA shared the cinematic visual for “Shirt,” a song she had been teasing for nearly two years. Earlier this week, she shared a new teaser clip for a song titled “PSA.” Last night (November 12), during a commercial break on Saturday Night Live, it was revealed that she is set to perform on December 3.

SZA will be the first musical guest of December, and Keke Palmer will serve as the host for that episode. This marks SZA’s second time performing on SNL, her first being in 2017, in an episode hosted by James Franco.

Since the announcement, fans are speculating that her long-anticipated second album is imminent. They also believe a license plate in the “Shirt” video reading “NO CTRL” and dated for December may be a hint about the album as well.

In a recent interview with Complex, SZA made it clear that she’s not in any rush to put the album out.

“I don’t have any deadlines, because at the end of the day, when my sh*t comes out, it comes out,” she said. “And if ever I lose my ability to choose, I have no problem vacating my current life and doing something different. I’m not glued to being an artist for the rest of my life or anything for that matter. I’m seeing where it takes me.”

Dua Lipa Addresses Rumors She’s Performing At The FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 Opening Ceremony

The FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 has been a hot-button issue from the moment Qatar was awarded the coveted tournament in 2010 because of the country’s history of atrocious human rights violations and corruption. Former FIFA president Sepp Blatter recently admitted “Qatar is a mistake,” and Dua Lipa agrees.

The multiplatinum pop star took to her Instagram story early this morning (November 13) to address rumors attaching her to the World Cup’s opening ceremony.

“There is currently a lot of speculation that I will be performing at the opening ceremony of the World Cup in Qatar,” Lipa wrote. “I will not be performing and nor have I ever been involved in any negotiation to perform. I will be cheering England on from afar and I look forward to visiting Qatar when it has fulfilled all the human rights pledges it made when it won the right to host the World Cup. One love, Dua x.”

Black Star Performs ‘The Main Thing Is To Keep The Main Thing The Main Thing’ On ‘SNL’

In their second Saturday Night Live performance of the night, Black Star took the stage with producer Madlib to perform “The Main Thing Is To Keep The Main Thing The Main Thing” from their album, No Fear Of Time.

During the performance, Talib Kweli and Yasiin Bey rap in tandem, throwing rose petals on the stage, as grayscale images rotate in the background.

“The rogue soul dark be the light / Shed the light into the darkroom / The light is not afraid that part / Gang-gang variates dream team,” the two rap on the track.

In a recent episode of Drink Champs, Bey and Kweli defended paywalling their album via Luminary, with Kweli saying, “We have made a choice for a lot of valid reasons to be in control of where and how we distribute our art. At this point in our careers and because of the music business, speaking for myself, we have to as men and as artists focus on not trying to cast a wide net and get everybody. Even me as a fan of Black Star, I want to hear it wherever I feel [like] hearing it.”

Black Star Delivers A Love Letter To New York In A Perfomance Of ‘So Be It’ On ‘SNL’

This past May, Yasiin Bey and Talib Kweli reunited as Black Star for the first time in 24 years. The two released their second joint album, No Fear Of Time, which featured the song “So Be It.” Tonight, they brought “So Be It” to the Saturday Night Live stage.

During the performance, Black Star performed in a set-up replicating a nostalgic New York City, as the lyrics to the song displayed on a screen in the back.

“It’s bigger than hip-hop, hypes, and wicked government / Brooklyn award-winning, a not-give-a-f*ckingest,” raps Bey on his verse

In an interview with NPR, Kweli said that although this is their first album in 24 years, Black Star’s mantra of “black excellence, unity, confronting racism, Pan-Africanism, elevating consciousness,” resonates just as much now as it did then.

“We stand tall on the shoulders of our ancestors,” said Kweli “The canon of black art is amazing, and it is the lifeblood of all great art that comes from America in particular. Black people in America have been the moral compass, and we have been the ones who have elevated the art and we have been the ones who have made the most original American things.”
