“I wish I knew how to quit you!”

Brokeback Mountain‘s 2005 release delivered many indelible moments, including the above line uttered during a particularly wrenching scene between Jake Gyllenhaal and Heath Ledger‘s star-crossed cowboys. Based upon Annie Proulx’s same-named, award-winning short story, the instantly iconic classic won three Oscars (including Best Director for Ang Lee) and even now occupies a special place in moviegoers’ still-beating hearts. Focus Features will soon be marking the 20th anniversary with a series of trinkets, which are preceded by a newly released trailer:

Special screening dates are also coming this summer (fireworks, yo) starting on June 22 and 25 (get your tickets right here) with promises of goodies like new merch and other unspecified surprises in the works. And at this point, the realization that the film has endured for two decades suggests a lifelong bond for viewers, giving the audience a taste of the attachment that couldn’t be shaken by Gyllenhaal’s Jack Twist and Ledger’s Ennis Del Mar.

Brokeback Mountain co-starred Michelle Williams and Anne Hathaway as the wives of Ennis and Jack, and what transpired onscreen propelled careers into the stratosphere. For starters, Gyllenhall moved beyond Donnie Darko cult status, and Ledger found himself barreling toward his legendary Joker performance (and posthumous Oscar win) in The Dark Knight. Likewise, Gyllenhaal, Williams, and Ledger were nominated for Brokeback Mountain, and Hathaway later took home Best Supporting Actress for Les Misérables.

The next time someone tells you to throw out your old cell phone that’s taking up space in a junk drawer, show them Ed Sheeran‘s Taylow Swift jam photo.

The “Azizam” singer recently launched the Instagram account “Teddy’s Old Phone” to promote his upcoming single, “Old Phone.” It shows photos from a mobile phone that Sheeran retired in 2015, including one of a jar of jam that Swift gifted him with a label that references Kanye West’s famous tirade at the 2009 MTV Video Music Awards. “Yo Ed — I’m really happy 4 you and I’m gonna let you finish but this is the best jam of all-time,” she wrote.

In case you’re wondering, Sheeran’s review: “it was pretty good jam.”

Sheeran explained how finding the retired device inspired “Old Phone”:

“It felt like a time capsule, a time of life that I was in, and living at that time in 2015. Turning it on really spun me out, I found myself scrolling messages and conversations with people who are no longer here. I found myself crying at messages to friends who are now dead, who I won’t get to speak to again. I found old photos of me with people I was so close to then, but we’ve lost touch since. The whole experience was such an emotional journey. I wrote the song Old Phone on my own at 2am whilst jet lagged in India finishing the album, and recorded it that morning. It feels like a song that should’ve been on my debut album, but also a song I couldn’t have written until I experienced real life things happening to me. It makes me emotional to sing, I hope it finds some emotion in you too. Maybe it makes you switch on your old phone and have a look at where you were a decade ago too. Whatever it does, I’m glad I wrote it.”

“Old Phone” comes out on Thursday, April 31, at 11 a.m. ET.

It was about a decade ago now that Pearl Jam leader Eddie Vedder launched his Ohana Festival, and since then, it’s become a late summer/early fall highlight. The 2025 edition is officially a go: The lineup was announced today (April 29) and it’s led by headliners Green Day, Hozier, and Eddie Vedder And Earthlings.

Other highlights set to perform from September 26 to 28 at Doheny State Beach in Dana Point, California include Wet Leg, Garbage, Leon Bridges, Cage The Elephant, Mannequin Pussy, Mdou Moctar, David Duchovny, and more.

Tickets go on sale starting with a Ten Club pre-sale on April 29 at 10 a.m. PT. There’s also a general pre-sale on May 1 at 10 a.m. PT, followed by a public on-sale at noon PT the same day. More information can be found here.

Ken Carson landed his first ever No. 1 album with More Chaos, but that’s not where the milestones end: the “Lord Of Chaos” rapper is about to go on his biggest tour yet.

On Tuesday (April 29), Carson revealed the dates for The Lord Of Chaos arena tour, which will hit 29 cities between July and September, including a hometown show at Atlanta’s State Farm Arena.

The artist pre-sale for The Lord Of Chaos tour begins Wednesday, April 30, at 10 a.m. local time, followed by the general on-sale on Friday, May 2, at 10 a.m. local time. You can find more information here.

Travis Scott turned up at Coachella earlier this month, and unfortunately for the festival organizers, his performance has lightened their bank account by $20,000.

As Billboard reports, Coachella company Goldenvoice is on the hook for $20k to the City of Indio because Scott’s April 12 set went past the 1 a.m. curfew… by three minutes. The festival’s agreement with the city says they’ll be fined $20k for the first five minutes the event exceeds the curfew. As TMZ notes, Scott’s set started five minutes late because Green Day before him ran 15 minutes behind.

That may seem like a big amount, but Coachella has actually been on a downward trend when it comes to money spent on fines. Last year, Lana Del Rey went 13 minutes past the deadline for a fine of $28,000. In 2023, Coachella spent $117,000 on fines for just the first weekend. That was also the year Frank Ocean bailed on the second weekend, which reportedly cost Goldenvoice millions.

Meanwhile, Goldenvoice just wrapped up the Stagecoach festival, of which Uproxx’s Philip Cosores noted, “This year’s Stagecoach continues a trend that’s been developing for years, by supplementing the country artists with lowest-common-denominator music that places ubiquity over taste. […] This stuff all goes over incredibly well, and that’s something you can’t fault Stagecoach for. They know their audience and they aim to please, but there is also the feeling that it is coming at the expense of becoming a place for country music to thrive.”

This Friday, Canadian punk band (it’s important to know they’re Canadian for reasons that will be clear soon) Pup are releasing a new album, Who Will Look After The Dogs?. We’ve already heard “Hallways,” “Paranoid,” “Get Dumber” (with Jeff Rosenstock), and now the group has shared “Olive Garden.”

The heavy song, which the band called “kinda upsetting and uncomfortable but also catchy and fun” in a statement, pack a ton of riffs in an under two-minute runtime.

The “Olive Garden” music video will also make you hungry for the restaurant for the same name, which is why Pup is throwing an Olive Garden-themed album release party on Thursday (May 1) in Toronto, Canada (see?). There will be an “album playback, short live set from Pup, Olive Garden-inspired music, decor, and food from Matty Matheson’s beloved Rizzo’s House Of Parm, and more surprises to come,” according to a press release. Did you know there are only nine Olive Gardens in all of Canada? Where do people up north go when they want to feel like family?

The cat’s out of the bag: Lucy Dacus recently revealed she and Boygenius bandmate Julien Baker are in a relationship. In a new interview with The Forty Five, Dacus admits there’s one element about the relationship being public that can make her feel “uncomfortable”:

“In a way, that’s the bit that makes me feel uncomfortable. The lore of it all – people treating our lives like a Marvel Universe. But then again, what is lore if not the story? Some parts of my story I keep for myself but this is the story that defines my life. So what am I gonna do?”

This doesn’t mean Dacus has noticed any negative perceptions of the relationship: She said of internet reactions, “I try not to look. But friends have been sending me funny things. It’s a happy thing — and Julien is very pro me letting people know.”

She also said of making her new album with Baker in mind, “The album was a gift to her first. I wrote that song genuinely, when it was like, ‘OK, feelings are on the table, and we ought not touch them, because our relationship is too important, and I support what you want for your life. And how great that you’ve told me! Or like, ‘Wow, what a surprise that we’re saying this out loud. But let’s ultimately just say that we matter to each other and move on.’ That was real. That’s how I felt.”

The word “unrecognizable” gets tossed around so frequently for Hollywood transformations that the term has turned toothless. However, Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson earns that descriptor while portraying legendary UFC and MMA fighter Mark Kerr in The Smashing Machine trailer. In this biopic, the Rock’s bod is typically jacked but a lot less cut than his usual physique that he hones in those home gym videos that he’s famous for dropping while announcing blockbuster movies. Also, how much time did he spend in the makeup chair, not only for prosthetics but also to cover his plentiful tattoos?

That’s probably a discussion for if and when this movie lands Oscars-level praise, and maybe Vin Diesel will throw eye darts at those awards shows, too. For now, A24 has unveiled The Smashing Machine‘s first trailer from Uncut Gems co-director Benny Safdie, who also wrote the script, so you know that it will be fire. The Rock’s Jungle Cruise co-star Emily Blunt is onboard and running the gamut of emotions as Dawn Staples, Kerr’s now-ex wife, who clearly went through plenty during the volatile events depicted in this film.

Kerr’s decorated fighting career included two turns as UFC Heavyweight Tournament Champion among many other titles. As for The Rock, he was so committed to an inside-and-out transformation, as Safdie revealed to GQ, extras on the set didn’t recognize him while he was “walking amongst them.” As for how The Rock felt about looking very un-Rock-like, “Man, I love it.”

The Smashing Machine will arrive in theaters on October 3.

It’s been nearly 10 months since The Bear season 3 ended with a “motherf*cker” of a finale. When will we learn what The Chicago Tribune thinks of Carmy, Syd, and Richie’s hard work at The Bear?

The Bear co-showrunner Joanna Calo revealed the season 4 premiere date at the world premiere of the new Marvel Cinematic Universe movie, Thunderbolts* (she co-wrote the screenplay with Eric Pearson).

When Is The Bear Season 4 Release Date?

“June 15,” she told Brazilian outlet Omelete. “June 15 here, but I think June 15 everywhere.” When asked what can we expect in the new season, Calo replied, “It’s beautiful. There’s a lot of joy this season, and I think you’re going to be happy.” FX has not confirmed the release date.

Last month, FX released a sneak peek at season 4. In the “coming soon” sizzle reel, Sydney (played by Ayo Edebiri) asks, “Why can’t we put everything that we have into everything that we can?” She also says, “Sometimes I feel like your work family, is like part of your family-family.” The brief footage also has nicotine gum fanatic Carmy (Jeremy Allen White) telling an unknown someone, “There’s probably one really true thing: you’re never alone.”

Blue Ivy Carter stole the show as a backup dancer on her mom’s Renaissance tour in 2023, and now she’s back at it.

Beyoncé launched the Cowboy Carter Tour last night (April 28), and sure enough, she put a spotlight on Blue Ivy. Most notably, during “Deja Vu,” Blue Ivy confidently strut down the stage like it was a fashion show catwalk. Then, joined by some dancers, she confidently busted out choreography, which was well-received by fans, both in-person and on social media.
