After recently saying “I do” to Ben Affleck, Jennifer Lopez is ready to swap vows with Josh Duhamel in Shotgun Wedding. Amazon has released the first trailer for the upcoming action-comedy that features a marriage that’s already on the brink of collapse before it even makes it to the altar. But that all hits the back-burner as the island destination is taken hostage, forcing the couple to work together to overcome their captors and rescue their guests. (And some annoying family members.)

More importantly, the Jennifer Coolidge renaissance is still in full effect. Coolidge plays Duhamel’s mom in the film, and clearly, the armed bandits picked the wrong wedding to mess with.

You’re damn right that’s Jennifer Coolidge with a machine gun.

In Shotgun Wedding, Darcy (Jennifer Lopez) and Tom (Josh Duhamel) gather their lovable but very opinionated families for the ultimate destination wedding, just as the couple begin to get cold feet. And if that wasn’t enough of a threat to the celebration, suddenly everyone’s lives are in danger when the entire party is taken hostage. “’Til Death Do Us Part” takes on a whole new meaning in this hilarious, adrenaline-fueled adventure as Darcy and Tom must save their loved ones—if they don’t kill each other first.

Shotgun Wedding premieres January 27, 2023 on Amazon Prime Video.

Latto is traversing North America as an opener on Lizzo’s Special Tour, performing at Madison Square Garden over the weekend, but the Atlanta-bred star has stayed put on Billboard‘s Hot 100 for 49 weeks with “Big Energy.” Her September 2021 breakthrough smash has become the longest-charting rap single by a solo female artist — topping Doja Cat’s “Need To Know” (48 weeks) this week.

“Big Energy” is housed on 777, Latto’s 2022 sophomore album, and received the remix treatment from Mariah Carey and DJ Khaled in March.

“I wanted to push myself,” Latto said of “Big Energy” as an Uproxx cover star last December. “I wanted to challenge myself. Honestly, when you’ve been rapping since eight years old, you got to find new inspiration and new sparks. I just wanted to try something different and I didn’t really give a f*ck whether people liked it or they didn’t because this was for me. I know what I’m doing. So I was like, the go-hard Latto, heavy punchlines on a heavy 808 trapped out beat, that’s my pocket. I got that down pat. I can do that forever. I do that in my sleep. But, I don’t want to do that forever. I want to push myself and I want to be the biggest me I can be.”

“Big Energy” is up for song of the year, while 777 is nominated for hip-hop album of the year at the 2022 BET Hip-Hop Awards, scheduled for tonight (October 4).

Talk about a match made in heaven. Tyler The Creator, who is equally well-known for his unique growl of a voice as he is for his raunchy sophomoric sense of humor, has been cast in Netflix’s animated sitcom Big Mouth, which is also known for its outrageous, bawdy jokes. According to Entertainment Tonight, the boundary-pushing rapper is just one of a slew of guest stars in the upcoming sixth season of Big Mouth including Adam Levine (super bad timing, but sort of appropriate for a show featuring horny imaginary creatures), Brian Tyree Henry, and Steve-O of Jackass. Let’s just hope T is playing a Hormone Monster.

Tyler recently got a chance to show off that famed sense of trollish humor when his good friend ASAP Rocky needed help escaping his own mosh pit at Rolling Loud New York. As the video of the incident went viral — much to Rocky’s displeasure — Tyler did the thing all of our friends should do and roasted him mercilessly over it. First, he changed his profile pic on Instagram to Rocky’s distressed expression from the video, then he immortalized the moment on a birthday cake for their rap buddy Jasper Dolphin. Meanwhile, Tyler more recently announced that he’d be pushing back the return of his own music festival, Camp Flog Gnaw Carnival, until next year.

It’s been over a year since Meghan McCain quit The View, leaving the show scrambling to find a conservative replacement who’s not hardcore MAGA and/or an anti-vaxxer. That’s no easy task, but despite the season-long search for a new co-host, Whoopi Goldberg is not being shy about the show being less stressful now that McCain is gone.

“It’s calmer because nobody wants to be that tired every day,” Goldberg told Page Six at the New York Film Festival premiere of Till. The longtime View co-host also didn’t push back on McCain’s claim in her Bad Republican book that Goldberg had “open disdain” for her. In fact, Goldberg is still worn out just thinking about it:

“We’ve always had disagreements and stuff, but this one was a little bit different,” Goldberg explained to us on Saturday. “I think [the show], it’s better. I feel it’s better, but I’m still tired!”

The “Sister Act” star confessed that even her own daughter called out the awkward facial expressions she sometimes made when talking to McCain on the air.

“My daughter would say to me, ‘I can see your face!’ [And I would say], ‘OK, I’ll be better,’” she shared.

After a year of testing out guest hosts, McCain’s seat has been permanently filled by former White House communications director Alyssa Farah Griffin. Naturally, McCain couldn’t resist taking a jab at her old workplace once the decision was announced.

“Her dad is a very famous homophobe and racist who started birtherism. He’s actually the person that invented Obama’s birtherism,” McCain recently told Andy Cohen before adding that she doesn’t want to “say anything negative.” Classic Meghan.

We all have our scars from the pandemic. Marcus Mumford literally has one. Mumford took a break from his tour in support of Self-Titled, his debut solo effort, to visit The Late Late Show With James Corden on Monday (October 3). Sitting alongside Rosie O’Donnell and Utkarsh Ambudkar, Mumford explained why he, a musician, has the silhouette of an Academy Award tattooed on his shoulder. And yes, it has to do with two-time Oscar nominee Carey Mulligan, his wife of 10 years.

“We’re in lockdown, in COVID. She’s supposed to have a film come out after the awards are over and stuff because it was not supposed to be an awards film. It was called Promising Young Woman,” the 35-year-old explained. “No expectations for it to be in awards conversation, but COVID comes. It gets pushed back. It comes out around all the awards films, and then suddenly, there’s all this chat about it. And it became this anxiety in our household because now there’s pressure to get nominated where there wasn’t before.”

“And so I said, ‘Let’s make it fun. Let’s have a tattoo bet,’” Mumford continued. “‘If you don’t get nominated, you have to be branded with your failure for the rest of your life. You get an Oscar tattoo.’ And everyone will say, ‘Oh, is that for when you were nominated for An Education?’ And she will say, ‘No, it’s for when I wasn’t nominated, as a punishment.’ And she did get nominated, so I got the tattoo.” (Mumford lost the bet, but he can always say he’s been directed by Steven Spielberg.)

Mumford used his time on The Late Late Show to showcase his own award-winning (two Grammy wins, nine nominations, to be exact) talent and performed a soaring rendition of “Grace,” the second track on Self-Titled, which dropped September 16. “With the weight of the shadow on your shoulder,” Mumford belted, backed by rollicking acoustics. “And I hear there’s healing just around this corner.”

Writing Self-Titled was a healing experience for Mumford. The album’s first offering, “Cannibal,” is about being sexually abuse as a six-year-old, which he told GQ he “hadn’t told anyone about” previously. “Grace” was released two weeks later, in late July, as the album’s official lead single.

Earlier in July, Mumford announced he was temporarily (?) branching away from Mumford & Sons as a solo artist with Self-Titled and shared the origins of the project:

The tracklist includes “Dangerous Game” featuring Clairo, “Go In Light” featuring Monica Martin, “Stonecatcher” featuring Phoebe Bridgers, and “How” with Brandi Carlile.

Kanye West is over in France at the moment, getting involved in this year’s Paris Fashion Week events. He made his runway debut in Balenciaga’s show, but more notably than that, he wore a “White Lives Matter” shirt to his YZY Season 9 show (and so did Candace Owens).

Ye’s fashion choice was criticized by folks like Jaden Smith and Van Lathan, and now Ye has offered a response, one that’s far from apologetic.

In a simple Instagram Story shared today (October 4), of white text on a black background, West wrote, “Everyone knows that Black Lives Matter was a scam. Now its over. You’re welcome.”

As for that aforementioned backlash, Jaden wrote, “I Had To Dip Lol,” presumably indicating he was at the show but left once he realized what West was wearing. In subsequent tweets, he added, “Black Lives Matter,” and, “We Demand A More Progressive Future.”

Lathan, meanwhile, wrote, “we don’t need a reminder of the worth of white lives. America is a shrine to the worth of white people. This message is reactionary to a message affirming Black lives, which have never been worth anything in America. In its intent, it’s a white supremacist notion, because it posits that we can’t have a conversation about the worth of Black people without having a conversation about the worth of white people, which is f*cking insane. The notion that it always has to be about white people in America is incredibly frustrating, emotionally draining, and the whole problem. But here’s Kanye, apparently centering that notion.”

If someone asked you which of the three stars of The Banshees of Inisherin, Colin Farrell, Brendan Gleeson, or Barry Keoghan, was hosting SNL this weekend, you’d probably guess the devastatingly handsome Farrell or maybe the guy who’s playing the Joker. Nope. It’s 67-year-old Gleeson, who deserved an Oscar for playing Knuckles McGinty in Paddington 2, but might actually get one for The Banshees of Inisherin.

In Bruges director Martin McDonagh’s new movie, about two long-time friends (Farrell and Gleeson) who suddenly stop talking, or as our Mike Ryan put it in his positive review, “in The Banshees of Inisherin, McDonagh has distilled the last 100 years of Irish history into two dolts who get into a heated feud for literally no reason.” Also, there’s a donkey named Jenny that kicked Farrell in the knee. Let her host SNL next.

Here’s the official plot synopsis:

Set on a remote island off the west coast of Ireland, The Banshees of Inisherin follows lifelong friends Padraic (Colin Farrell) and Colm (Brendan Gleeson), who find themselves at an impasse when Colm unexpectedly puts an end to their friendship. A stunned Padraic, aided by his sister Siobhan (Kerry Condon) and troubled young islander Dominic (Barry Keoghan), endeavors to repair the relationship, refusing to take no for an answer. But Padraic’s repeated efforts only strengthen his former friend’s resolve and when Colm delivers a desperate ultimatum, events swiftly escalate, with shocking consequences.

The Banshees of Inisherin opens on October 21.

Less than two weeks ago, Russians began flocking across borders after Vladimir Putin announced the call-up of 300,000 reservists. Many didn’t want to fight in a war that they condemned, and many other men of fighting age (who didn’t receive draft papers yet) feared that the draft would grow, and they needed to get out while the getting was good. We’d heard that the numbers were huge, but they’re even bigger than imagined, to the point where the number of Russians who have fled already exceeds the number that Putin’s regime managed to conscript for military duty.

As it turns out, men don’t want to be stranded with Putin’s army in Ukraine. That’s practically a death sentence where men are being denied armor and told to bring tampons to treat their own bullet wounds when the inevitable happens. Via Al Jazeera, the “partial mobilization” announcement led to Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu declaring, “As of today more than 200,000 people have entered the army.” And via Bloomberg, the number of Russians who have (thus far) fled to neighboring questions dwarfs the number of actual recruits into the Army. Here’s what those numbers look like, according to Bloomberg’s data:

– 200,000 to Kazakhstan
– 69,000 to Georgia
– 66,000 to the European Union
– 12,000 to Mongolia
– And counting

As these numbers came together, Ukrainian President Zelenskyy declared that his country has no interest in “peace talks” with the Kremlin. And it’s no wonder why this is the case, given that Russia may have been able to annex four rural regions of Ukraine, but the cities aren’t really yielding to Russian forces. In fact, Russia was recently forced out of Lyman (an Eastern stronghold), and this week, Ukraine made a Southern advance that bolsters the claim that Russia will never be able to take Kiev. It’s no wonder that Putin’s allies are starting to to drag him, very publicly in front of the world.

Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson made his movie debut in 2001’s The Mummy Returns, but his first leading role came a year later, in the hastily made spinoff, The Scorpion King. It was an inauspicious (and poorly rendered) beginning for a wrestler-turned-actor who would later become one of the biggest movie stars in the world. This week, after being presented with a mosaic of all of his leading man movies, The Rock thanked his fans — and a ritzy hotel in Los Angeles — for his justified-salary success.

“Holy sh*t – this surprise really sat me down and got me thinking about the journey and these unpredictable roads we all go down,” he wrote on Instagram about the Hotel Bel-Air giving him the mosaic, along with bottles of Teremana Tequila, naturally (no In-N-Out?). He continued:

“20yrs ago when I first got to Hollywood – all the ‘experts’ told me, I shouldn’t call myself The Rock, I shouldn’t go to the gym and needed to lose weight – and definitely don’t talk about pro wrestling. I was told, ‘If you want to make it in Hollywood, you gotta be like these other guys…’ That never sat right with me, so I said I’m not doing that and the only person I gotta be like – is me. If I failed, then at least I failed being real and being myself.”

Years (and many Fast and Furious feud updates) later, “here we are and I’m saying ‘holy sh*t’ to this career mosaic on the wall and most importantly, I’m saying.. THANK YOU to all of you for rockin’ with me down these roads for all these years,” The Rock continued. “Love U guys and cheers to the most important thing we can all be – ourselves.”

Lil Nas X is perhaps the biggest gay icon in the music industry today, but it wasn’t always that way. Once upon a time, he was just the “Old Town Road” guy, but eventually, he publicly came out. While he has gradually become more comfortable in his own skin, he was still nervous to perform in front of his family at a recent hometown show in Atlanta. The experience ended up being a powerful one, though.

Nas spoke about this in a new People interview, saying:

“I was really nervous about going out on stage in front of my family and everybody in my cute, little Coach skirt. But as soon as I walked out, I felt like I was setting my younger self free. Afterwards, my family — a lot of whom used to believe in everything opposite to what’s up on that stage — told me they were really proud. I feel like I’m changing some minds.”

After the show, Nas’ father shared a message on social media, writing, “I’m beyond proud of you. Thinking back to this conversation we had about 4 years ago and to see your show last night, by the way was the best show I’ve seen since MJ. You was a kid with a dream and the determination to follow it. You was that one in a million.”

In the interview, Nas added, “I’m less afraid to step out of my comfort zone. Lil Nas X is helping Montero become more himself. Music has made me much more confident.”

Of his evolving style, he also noted, “Style is a form of self-expression. It’s a way to show people who you are, or at least how you want them to perceive you. I feel like to get further in life, you have to shed skins and do things that you normally wouldn’t.”
