‘Better Call Saul’ Fans Are Bummed That Rhea Seehorn Didn’t Win An Emmy (But There’s Still Time Next Year!)

Forget Outstanding Drama Comedy and Outstanding Comedy Series. The biggest category of the 2022 Emmys was Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Drama Series. Take a look at the nominees: Patricia Arquette for Severance, Julia Garner for Ozark, Jung Ho-yeon for Squid Game, Christina Ricci for Yellowjackets, J. Smith-Cameron and Sarah Snook for Succession, Sydney Sweeney for Euphoria, and Rhea Seehorn for Better Call Saul. Everyone is there Emmy-worthy… but come on, it’s Kim Wexler’s time.

The Emmys voters apparently disagreed.

For the second time in three years, Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Drama Series went to Garner for her performance as Ruth Langmore in the Netflix series. No offense to the reported future-Madonna, who is wonderful in The Americans and The Assistant, but listen to Bob Odenkirk: “Everybody wise up!” At least there’s always the second half of the final season.

But for now, Saul fans think, respectfully, the Emmys don’t know sh*t about f*ck.

“I feel so proud of what we made and the ending Peter Gould wrote, so that tempers me wishing we dragged it out for four more seasons. I’m sad to see that story be over,” Seehorn told the AV Club about saying goodbye to Kim Wexler. “I’ll miss playing Kim and working with Bob Odenkirk in that capacity. All of us hope to be working together on different projects; this applies to the writers, directors, and crew. We intend to find ways to work together again. But as for this story, it’s hard to let go of it after all this time because I love everything about it.”

‘Mayor Of Television’ Kenan Thompson Danced To Some Of TV’s Most Iconic Theme Songs In His Emmys Monologue

Have you taken a moment to appreciate Kenan Thompson lately? You really should.

The longest-tenured cast member in SNL history has been famous since he was a teenager as an original cast member on Nickelodeon’s sketch comedy series All That; he would later star in a spin-off movie, Good Burger, and series, Kenan & Kel, with fellow cast member, Kel Mitchell. And now, nearly 30 years in his career (and four Emmy nominations for SNL, including one win), he’s hosting the Emmys!

After referring to himself as the Mayor of Television, Thompson danced to some of the most iconic theme songs in the medium’s history, including Friends, The Brady Bunch (featuring a reunion of the living cast members), Law and Order, Stranger Things, and Game of Thrones. It’s also the House of the Dragon theme song, but the clips playing behind Thompson — dressed as Daenerys Targaryen — were from Game of Thrones, the show that ended three years ago. Weird! The monologue was light on jokes (except for a funny nod to Living Single), but at least Thompson looked like he was having fun.

You can watch a portion of the monologue below.

All Of The Winners From The 2022 Emmys

Tonight’s 74th Primetime Emmy Awards are underway, almost like they leaped out of nowhere. We’re not in social distancing anymore, either, so here’s to hoping for a more “normal” ceremony, perhaps with a little bit of onstage drama? We’ll see. The ceremony will undoubtedly want to avoid a slap incident similar to Will Smith and Chris Rock’s Oscar fiasco, but we’ll keep our fingers crossed for some sort of excitement.

This year’s nominees are stacked. So, get ready to see Succession, Ozark, Better Call Saul, and Squid Game dominate the drama categories, and hopefully, Rhea Seehorn can finally take home tangible accolades for her turn as Kim Wexler. Likewise, the comedy realm showcases a wide variety of offerings including Only Murders In The Building, Barry, Atlanta, and Hacks, and the limited series categories look super competitive. White Lotus doesn’t even technically count as “limited” anymore (since nabbing a second season), but it’s still heavily represented, and crowd favorite Julia Garner’s got two nominations for her roles in Inventing Anna and Ozark.

Below, you can find the full list of winners in reverse order of announcement, with the winner listed first in bold.

Drakeo The Ruler’s Alleged Landlord Is Attempting To Collect Over $100,000 In Back Rent

Although Drakeo The Landlord was killed in December 2021 at his own show, a man claiming to be his former landlord is attempting to collect back rent from his estate.

According to documents obtained by TMZ, a landlord named Oliver Omidvar says he rented the home to Drakeo back in June of 2021. Payments for rent stopped coming into Omidvar in January 2022, a month after Drakeo’s death, however, Omidvar is still demanding $104,542.60 in back rent and alleged damages.

The lawsuit claims that the property was left with damage to electronics, skylights, and windows. Additionally, thousands of dollars were allegedly spent fixing plumbing and drywall, and adding new coats of paint on the walls.

In an interview with Rolling Stone, Drakeo’s mother, Darrylene Corniel, revealed she plans to sue Live Nation for the wrongful death of her son.

“They let all these people in, and you’re not supposed to have all these people backstage. And your security is supposed to be in place,” Corniel said. “The whole program should have been orchestrated a lot better than what it was. And there should have been more protection. Even if you have metal detectors, even if you pat them down, you let those people come in there. You had more people come in than you were supposed to. And you allowed them to jump my son. You didn’t protect my son.”

“It is such a shame how much jealousy and envy can make people stoop to such low tactics to try to destroy another individual because of fame and progress,” she said. “When you start getting up there, people start getting intimidated. So, I believe, once his platform started going higher, people started getting upset.”

‘Splatoon 3’ Is The Fastest Selling Nintendo Switch Game In Japan Ever

On Friday, Splatoon 3 was released by Nintendo and the reaction to it has been expected from an IP that is receiving its third game in seven years: People ate it up. It helps that the game is extremely fun to play, more people own Switches than ever before, and it’s a very different kind of game compared to your average shooter.

What was not expected was just how quickly people went out to make sure they could be in on the release of Splatoon 3. While it’s a safe bet that it’s doing well in the United States, in Japan Nintendo announced that Splatoon 3 is the fastest-selling Switch game ever after selling 3.45 million units in only three days. Those are bonkers numbers and we know that because it’s not common for video game companies to release a press release saying the actual numbers sold unless it’s going to impress people.

Nintendo Co., Ltd. (HQ: Kyoto, Minami-ku, Japan; Representative Director and President: Shuntaro Furukawa) announced that domestic sales of the Splatoon 3 game for the Nintendo Switch system have surpassed 3.45 million units* in the first three days since its launch on September 9, 2022. This is the highest domestic sales level for any Nintendo Switch software within the first three days.

With the game doing so well in Japan we can only assume that it’s also doing well over in the States. If you haven’t yet, consider picking up Splatoon 3 yourself because it’s one of the more unique games out there. The objective of most matches isn’t to get the most eliminations, or capture a flag, but instead paint the entire map as much of your own color as possible. This hook has created the perfect blend of hardcore shooter fans and people that dislike anything forcing them to aim, because just about anyone can be good at Splatoon. The result is a game that everyone is loving and Nintendo is reaping the rewards.

Video Of Trump Holding A Mysterious Meeting On His D.C. Golf Course Led To Wild Speculation And Lots Of Mob Jokes

Donald Trump is a man of contradictions: He lives most of his life in the public eye, but he does his best to keep certain things — especially his shadier doings — private. There’s a whole House committee dedicated to unpacking all the business he tried to keep hidden concerning the Jan. 6 riot. So when the former president suddenly showed up in D.C. over the weekend, the move prompted wild speculation? Why was he back in his old stomping grounds? Does it have to do with the Mar-a-Lago raid? Is he just there on “business,” as he’s claimed? And what’s up with this weird video of him having some shady-looking meeting on his D.C. golf course?

On Monday, NBC News White House correspondent Kelly O’Donnell posted said video, with the following caption: “Former Pres. Trump at his Virginia golf property today but not appearing to play as he moved about with a large group. This video was shot at considerable distance.”

What could he be doing? Having some clandestine meeting with cronies away from anything that could record what they were saying? Or was it just some boring meeting about the golf course he owns? You can’t tell with the guy who used to clog toilets by shoving illegally torn-up White House down them.

Whatever the case — underhanded business or boring, mundane nothingburger — it got people feeling suspicious.

A lot of people thought it looked awfully mob-like.

And there were jokes.

And there were some who said the truth is probably incredibly boring.

For now, let’s return to a more pressing question: Will Trump be invited to Queen Elizabeth II’s funeral? After all, he wrote an awfully nice post about her on his failing Twitter clone.

Robert Griffin III Racing A Seahawk Before ‘Monday Night Football’ Is Riveting Television

Earlier this year, ESPN announced that former NFL Pro Bowl quarterback and Heisman Trophy winner Robert Griffin III would be joining the regular cast of Monday Night Countdown in advance of the network’s showcase broadcast each week. Griffin III, who is also a college football analyst for the network, was only one of the additions to the Monday night lineup, with Joe Buck and Troy Aikman famously coming on board to anchor the game broadcast from the booth. Before the Week 1 clash between the Denver Broncos and Seattle Seahawks, Griffin III wasted no time leaving his imprint on the proceedings, but perhaps not in the way you might expect for a typical pregame analyst.

Instead, ESPN arranged a race between Griffin III and an actual seahawk that was narrated by fellow analyst Booger McFarland.

First of all, this is riveting television and it is captured well by the ESPN cameras. Griffin III can still run, which probably helps the aesthetic, and Booger is highly amusing in his running commentary. By the end, Griffin III even manages to get in a joke about playing for the Cowboys after the unfortunate injury to Dak Prescott, and the clip really has everything.

Monday Night Countdown probably can’t replicate this every week, but it was a good segment. As Awful Announcing notes in the video above, perhaps pregame shows aren’t all bad.

Nintendo And PlayStation Will Have Showcase Events On The Same Day

Those of us who thought that announcement season in video games was over are being proven to have been very wrong. We usually spend this part of the year talking about the latest big releases, such as Madden and NBA 2K, or what we have on the way for the upcoming holiday season. However, it appears the games industry is not finished showing us their cards.

On Monday, both PlayStation and Nintendo announced that they will have showcase events to announce new titles and tease some upcoming ones for the winter as well. Not only that, but both events will be on Tuesday. So get ready gaming fans cause it looks like we’re going to randomly get a flurry of announcements thrown our way tomorrow.

Thankfully, one event is going to be happening relatively early in the day while the other one will be taking place later in the afternoon giving us a little bit of breathing room before the announcements. That’s great news for those of us that need that break between to decompress after everything we’re likely going to see across the two showcases.

A big day indeed PlayStation! We’re very curious to see what some of these upcoming games could be. We at least have an idea from Nintendo, since their big focus is going to be winter games, but PlayStation really could be anything.

PNB Rock Is Reportedly In Critical Condition After Being Shot

Rapper PNB Rock was reportedly shot this afternoon at Roscoe’s Chicken And Waffles in Los Angeles, according to TMZ. The rapper was dining with his girlfriend at the eatery’s Inglewood location, the latter of who had posted an image of their meal on her Instagram story.

At the time of writing, no information has been released about the shooter, however, it appears the shooter was targeting PNB Rock, as a witness to the incident said the shooter removed jewelry from PNB, then fled.

A graphic video of PNB was shared to social media, in which he is still seen moving after having been shot. He was reportedly transported to a hospital immediately after the shooting. The image shared by PNB’s girlfriend of the food at Roscoe’s has since been removed from her stories.

PNB Rock is said to be in critical condition.

Rock is known for songs like “Selfish,” “Gang Up” with Young Thug, 2 Chainz and Wiz Khalifa, and “Horses” with Kodak Black and A Boogie wit da Hoodie. Earlier this month, PNB Rock released a single called “Luv Me Again,” his first since leaving Atlantic Records and going independent.

Uproxx has reached out to PNB Rock’s team and Los Angeles Police Department.

Calais Campbell Was Kicking Himself On The Sidelines For Leaving Devin Duvernay On His Bench In Fantasy

Coming into this season, aside from Lamar Jackson’s contract situation, the biggest question facing the Ravens offense was at the wide receiver position where they lacked a clear No. 1 option. After trading Hollywood Brown to Arizona, the Baltimore receiving corps featured Rashod Bateman, Devin Duvernay, and James Proche II as its top-3, which isn’t exactly a group full of household names.

As such, Jackson’s longtime favorite target, tight end Mark Andrews, was a top name in fantasy football for many as he was expected to gobble up targets all season, but the rest of the receiving corps was a big question mark both on the field and from a fantasy perspective. In Week 1, Andrews led the team with five catches, but both Bateman and Duvernay were on the receiving end of Lamar Jackson touchdowns, with Duvernay hauling in four catches for 54 yards and a pair of TDs.

Duvernay was not a popular fantasy choice, as he was on just 2 percent of rosters and was started in 0 percent of lineups on CBS Sports in Week 1, but racked up 17 fantasy points with his big day. Among the two percent who drafted Duvernay was Ravens defensive lineman Calais Campbell, but as he told an assistant on the sidelines, he, like everyone else, left Duvernay on the bench and was kicking himself watching the young receiver go off.

It’s pretty funny watching an NFL player lament his fantasy lineup on the sideline during a game and makes Campbell extremely relatable to every fantasy player, as there’s nothing more frustrating than watching a guy go off on your bench. The good news for Campbell is that he gets to reap the rewards of the Ravens win personally, unlike most fantasy owners, and, as he notes, he won’t have to fight for his teammate on the waiver wire. The bad news is the Ravens don’t get to play the Jets again this season, and Duvernay has to deal with a stingier Miami group next week.
