‘P-Valley’: Here’s All The Music You Heard In The Season Two Finale

(SPOILERS for this week’s P-Valley episode will be found below.)

After ten weeks of love, hate, pain, pleasures, highs, lows, and so much more, P-Valley will wrap things up with the finale for its second season. There are so many questions that remain as we enter the closer for Katori Hill’s hit show. Will Andre become the mayor of Chucalissa? Will Haley successfully sell The Pynk for $10 million? Will Uncle Clifford be able to stop Hailey from selling The Pynk? Will Mercedes be able to win back Terricka? Will Keyshawn be able to escape from her abusive boyfriend Derrick and out of Chucalissa with her two children?

For what it’s worth, each of the aforementioned questions will be answered in a yes or no fashion. However, it means that there’ll be a big shift in the future for The Pynk and its lovely ladies. Bigger obstacles will be left for the strip club to deal with while big moments of love and pain will only serve as fuel to the fire for what goes down in the valley.

The aforementioned events in the finale of season two are soundtracked by songs that help to accentuate the emotions behind each scene. They include Jucee Froot’s thumping “Down In The Valley” which serves as the theme song for the series.

What Songs Were In The Season Two Finale Of P-Valley?

The songs that soundtracked the standout moments on this week’s episode of P-Valley are Jazmine Sullivan’s “The Other Side” and L.T.D.’s “Love Ballad.” Jazmine Sullivan’s “The Other Side” plays as Mercedes pole dances in the space she initially purchased to hold dance classes for young girls prior to the pandemic. At this moment, she just received a wonderful gift from Farrah, Coach’s wife, when her mother Pastor Woodbine walks in to brag about her success, but more importantly, to also inform her about news regarding Mercedes’ daughter Terricka.

L.T.D.’s “Love Ballad” can be heard during a party at The Pynk hosted by Earnestine who wants to celebrate successfully recovering from COVID. While Lil Murda was expected to have left for his tour by the time the party began, he delayed his departure in order to say his goodbyes to Uncle Clifford. As a result, it sparks a moment that will forever change their relationship.

The soundtrack for this week’s episode also includes the following songs:
J. Alphonse Nicholson — “Seven Pounds Of Pressure”
Tonay Marie — “Eat It”
Sam Cooke — “Bring It On Home To Me”
GloRilla & Hitkidd — “F.N.F. (Let’s Go)”
Big KRIT — “No Playground”
Mint Condition — “Breakin’ My Heart (Pretty Brown Eyes)”
Erykah Badu — “Didn’t Cha Know”

Season 2 of ‘P-Valley’ is now available to watch on STARZ.

Some artists covered here are Warner Music artists. Uproxx is an independent subsidiary of Warner Music Group.

Kanye West Writes That ‘The Children’ And ‘The Homeless’ Are His Inspirations

If there’s one thing Kanye West loves to do it’s share vague, cryptic thoughts on social media. The newest addition to this pattern is a new Instagram post — the only on his page currently — that’s a screenshot of an entry in his notes app that reads, “Look to the children… Look to the homeless… As the biggest inspiration for all design.”

The comments uniformly praise West for his genius. The artist BFRND quoted Pablo Picasso: “It took me four years to paint like Raphael but a lifetime to paint like a child.” Another person commented: “I just dropped to my knees in Walmart for no reason.”

This follows Steve Lacy’s Instagram post about him, Kanye, and Lil Uzi Vert and their new matching tattoos of the sentence “We here forever technically.” The final word is in a different font, metaphorically marking all three artists’ quick-change tendencies. Speaking of Lacy and inspiration, Kanye also called the Gemini Rights performer “one of the most inspiring people on the planet” last month. He and Lacy were photographed together at the former’s Donda livestream event last summer. When asked about his time there during an interview, Lacy said simply, “It was cool, it was cool.”

Bills Rookie Punter Matt Araiza Boomed An 82-Yard Punt In The Preseason Opener

The 2022 Draft class featured arguably the greatest collection of punter talent ever to enter the league at the same time. Three punters were drafted by teams — Jordan Stout, Jake Camarda, and Matt Araiza — all boasting rather incredible skill sets. Stout was first off the board to the Ravens in the fourth round, considered the best all-around punter on the board, while Camarda went shortly after to the Bucs as one of the best in college football at pinning opposing teams deep in their own territory.

However, the punter most were aware of coming into the draft was Araiza, the San Diego State product who was known for absolutely nuking punts, boasting an unreal 51.19 yard average on 79 punts a year ago for the Aztecs. He went to the Bills with the first pick of the sixth round and on Saturday, fans in Orchard Park were treated to the “Punt God” going to work in the preseason opener against the Colts.

Lined up at his own 18, Araiza had room to let loose and uncorked what became an 82-yard touchback that landed inside the 15, traveling nearly 70 yards in the air (from the line of scrimmage, not where he hit it), as the Colts punt returner retreated in vain.

The reaction from everyone was tremendous, as the announcers couldn’t believe what they were watching and the Bills sideline erupted, as everyone (including star QB Josh Allen) came over to show some love to their young punter. However, those that watched Araiza in college know this is par for the course, as he let loose an 81-yard effort last year that looked an awful lot like this one.

The Bills don’t plan on punting a ton this year, but they will have the power to flip the field whenever they want thanks to Araiza, which is a nice thing to have in your back pocket as a contender.

The ‘Rust’ Shooting Investigation Concludes That The Gun Could Not Have Been Fired Without Pulling The Trigger

It’s been almost a year since the accidental gun discharge on the set of the Western Rust, which left cinematographer Halyna Hutchins dead and its director, Joel Souza, wounded. Attempts to get to the bottom of what happened have been chaotic, with lots of finger pointing and contradictory claims. The FBI opened an investigation, which, as per Deadline, has come to a startling conclusion: that the gun could not have been fired without the trigger being pulled.

That contradicts what Alec Baldwin, who was holding the gun when it went off, has said in the past. He’s told reporters that he never pulled the trigger, which was met with skepticism by gun experts. The FBI report states that the gun “could not be made to fire without a pull of the trigger,” adding that it couldn’t detonate “without a pull of the trigger when the hammer was struck directly.”

Where does this go next? The report has been sent to the Santa Fe County Sheriff’’s team of investigators, who have also sent it to New Mexico Office of the Medical Investigator. When the research is concluded, the findings will be sent to the Santa Fe district attorney’s office, where final charging decisions will be made.

That still doesn’t explain how a live round wound up in the gun in the first place. Baldwin’s attorney has previously said that an earlier investigation, by the Occupational Safety and Health Administration, exonerated the actor, concluding that firearm safety procedures were not followed on set.

How Did Zack De La Rocha Of Rage Against The Machine Injure His Leg?

Rage Against The Machine just cancelled the Europe and UK portion of their tour because of singer Zack De La Rocha’s leg injury. In the band’s final tour stops in the US, De La Rocha has been performing while sitting down. But how did he injure his leg to begin with?

What Is Zack De La Rocha’s Leg Injury And How Did It Happen?

De La Rocha’s leg injury originally happened in Chicago. Rage Against The Machine were playing at the United Center on the second night of their reunion tour. During the fourth song, “Bullet In Your Head,” De La Rocha was moving wildly on stage and then suddenly suffered a leg injury to his left leg. He was helped off stage for a bit, but then came back out and told the crowd, “I don’t know what happened to my leg right now. But you know what? We’re gonna keep this f*ckin’ sh*t goin.’ If I have to crawl across this stage, we’re gonna play for y’all tonight. We came too f*ckin’ far.”

He finished that show sitting on and leaning up against a monitor and has been doing that ever since at the bands subsequent shows. The final three shows on the Rage Against The Machine US tour are at Madison Square Garden in New York City and De la Rocha sang seated, although he tried hopping on one foot at times.

With the Europe and UK tour cancelled, Rage Against The Machine and Zack De La Rocha issued a statement saying that, “Zack must return home for rest and rehabilitation. The flights, travel time, and rigorous schedule in the UK and Europe are simply too much of a risk for a complete recovery.”

No plans to reschedule those plans have been announced yet.

Posters In Brooklyn Are Teasing A Collaboration Between The National And Bon Iver Called ‘Weird Goodbyes’

In May, The National excited fans by debuting three new songs at a show in Spain. The tracks were titled “Tropic Morning News (Haversham),” “Grease In Your Hair (Birdie),” and “Bathwater (Mount Auburn).” Now, posters have appeared in Brooklyn teasing a song called “Weird Goodbyes” by The National featuring Bon Iver, which is now circulating on Reddit.

“Weird Goodbyes” is actually “Bathwater (Mount Auburn),” but has been renamed and was also performed last month in Cooperstown, New York during their North American tour. They haven’t released a studio album since 2019’s I Am Easy To Find, so listeners are eager for more. In our interview with the band for that LP, Matt Berninger discussed some of his early inspirations for making music, “Listening to records in my basement, I felt I learned how to be a good human being, a person with empathy and love, to be accepting of people that were different than me, and be accepting of people’s shortcomings and patience,” he said. “I learned about mental health, about depression, about sex. The awkwardness of sex too, not from Led Zeppelin or Motley Crue. I’m learning about that from The Breeders. Or Nina Simone. Roberta Flack was teaching me about sex.

Watch The National perform “Weird Goodbyes” in Cooperstown above.

An Old Clip Of Ron DeSantis Defending FBI Searches Has Resurfaced In The Wake Of The Mar-A-Lago Investigation

Ron DeSantis and Donald Trump aren’t getting along these days. The Florida governor is looking like the former president’s biggest competitor in the 2024 election. But he’s been one of many in the GOP to smear the FBI for searching Mar-a-Lago during an investigation that is sounding more and more legit. But an old clip from 2020 of him vigorously, angrily defending searches by the feds has resurfaced, and it sounds like he’d be all for what they’re doing to his state’s most famous resident.

The clip is from a federal search in the home of Rebekah Jones, a geographer and data scientist who earned DeSantis’ scorn after she turned whistleblower. Jones had been mysteriously fired from her job in May of 2020 after creating software that helped track COVID-19 infections. She said she was let go after she refused to hide certain data that might show DeSantis’ policies weren’t keeping cases down. The FBI even searched her home, which created a firestorm. But at the time, DeSantis saw no problem with the feds looking into possible criminal activity.

During a press conference, a reporter made the mistake of calling the search a “raid,” which prompted DeSantis to angrily snap back. “It’s not a raid. With all due respect, what you just said is editorializing,” he railed. “I’m not going to let you get away with it. These people did their jobs. They’ve been smeared as the Gestapo for doing their jobs. They did a search warrant. Why did they do a search warrant on the house? Because her IP address was linked to the felony. What were they supposed to do? Just ignore it? Of course not.”

DeSantis added that the agents were “serving valid process in accordance with the laws and Constitution of the United States and the state of Florida.” He said calling it a “raid” was “disinformation.” He added that those reporting on the search “need to look at facts and stop trying to feed narrative.”

Obviously there are lots of differences between the Jones and Trump cases. But most of what he said could apply to the FBI searching Mar-a-Lago, which was done with a warrant and has since been incorrectly described by the right as a “raid.” Of course, there is one major difference: Those involved haven’t simply been called names. They’ve been hit with death threats. One Trump supporter and prolific Truth poster even tried to attack a branch of the FBI in Cincinnati.

The clip was widely shared on social media. One person even made an obviously fake video to make it look like DeSantis was schooling Sean Hannity, who’s tried to assure people that Trump can still campaign for president from the slammer.

Little girl sings Selena’s ‘Como La Flor’ and wows the late singer’s widower

Selena Quintanilla Pérez is so well-known that she’s best recognized simply as “Selena,” the same way people refer to Madonna.

Nearly 30 years after her untimely death, parents are passing the music of Selena onto their children and creating a new generation of fans. And in the age of social media, that means the new waves of fans are creating videos singing the icon’s hits. In a video clip uploaded to Instagram and TikTok, 10-year-old Mariapaula Mazon gets up on stage to belt out “Como La Flor.”

When Mariapaula gets up on stage, she whispers something in the ear of the man sitting next to Chris Pérez, Selena’s widower. Within a few short seconds the microphone is up to her mouth and she’s singing with the tone and richness of a trained adult singer. It’s clear that the man is impressed because he stands up to record the young singer with his cellphone. While Mariapaula sings, the man recording says, “It makes me cry. It’s good to see someone like her, who will be the next Selena in so many ways.” The girl’s voice is so impressive that the video has been viewed more than 5 million times on TikTok.

@mazonmariapaula1

Thank you Chris Pérez for allowing me to sing you this beautiful song by your sweet love 🌹🕊❤️ Thank you Las Vegas. #lasvegas #selenaquintanilla #comolaflor #chrisperez #selenanetflix #selena #selenafan #abquintanilla #tejano

Mariapaula told “Hoy Día” that she has been singing since she was 2 years old. She also explained that her mother is a singer and has been teaching her. While she can sing Selena’s song like it was written for her, Mariapaula wasn’t introduced to the late singer’s music until her 9th birthday. It was then her father threw her a Selena-themed birthday party and the little girl got to know a pop icon.

After going viral, the talented fifth grader will get to perform at the Tejano Music Awards in Texas on November 26, according to a video uploaded to her Instagram. I certainly can’t wait to see what else is in store for this pint-sized star and I’m sure she can’t wait either.

Robin Williams’ children pay a loving, humor-filled tribute to their father on anniversary of his death

The world lost a bit of its light the day Robin Williams passed away. The beloved actor known for his eccentric comedy skills and generous heart took his own life in August 2014 at the age of 63. He would have been 71 this year.

It’s admittedly a little trite to say “his spirit lives on in his children,” but the phrase certainly feels true when reading the loving, endearing and, of course, humorous tributes made by Willams’ son and daughter marking the eighth anniversary of his death.

Zak Williams, 39, shared a picture of his father on social media with a caption that read, “Dad, on the eighth anniversary of your passing, I’m remembering how incredibly kind and joyful you were. I deeply miss you you wonderful, hairy man and will be celebrating your life today. Love you so so much!”

Williams had previously been misdiagnosed with Parkinson’s disease. His autopsy revealed that he instead suffered from a form of progressive dementia called Lewy body dementia, which is particularly hard to diagnose and can cause hallucinations, concentration challenges and memory problems. Like Parkinson’s, it can also create movement problems.

Williams was a master at many things, but physical comedy and quick wit were at the top of the list. He was certainly more than a source of laughter, but I can only imagine what it must feel like to suddenly lose a bit of yourself that makes you you.

Zak, a mental health advocate, reflected on how knowing his father’s true condition led him to even deeper compassion during an episode of the podcast “The Genius Life.”

“There was a focus issue that frustrated him, there were issues associated with how he felt and also from a neurological perspective he didn’t feel great. He was very uncomfortable. I couldn’t help but feel beyond empathy. I couldn’t help but feel frustrated for him. It can be really isolating even when you’re with family and loved ones,” he told host Max Lugavere.

It seems Zak has inherited his father’s sense of humor. On July 21, 2022, what would have been Williams’ 71st birthday, Zak posted a photo of Williams in full bike gear alongside the words, “Happy 71st Birthday Dad! I’ll be remembering you today as you would want to be remembered, in spandex.”

Willliams’ daughter Zelda Williams, 33, shared a quote by Haruki Murakami on Twitter.

“And once the storm is over, you won’t remember how you made it through, how you managed to survive. You won’t even be sure, whether the storm is really over. But one thing is certain. When you come out of the storm, you won’t be the same person who walked in.”

This quote was followed by a list of suicide prevention resources, many that the comedian’s daughter had cited in the past.

Zelda added, “’I don’t ask for much, but if I may, be gentle to your hearts today. I know I’m trying.”

Robin Williams was a brilliant actor who left behind a legacy of iconic roles, both in comedies like “Mrs. Doubtfire” and in dramas like “Good Will Hunting.” One could chalk it up to god-given talent. He definitely had that in spades. But it was also his incredibly generous spirit that allowed him to easily connect with people, be it through tears or laughter. Though he is sorely missed, his life and works continue to be an inspiration.

One Person Was Killed And Seventeen Were Injured After A Stage Collapsed At The Medusa Festival

At the Medusa Festival near Valencia, Spain, one person has been killed and seventeen injured after the stage collapsed. The tragic death was that of a 22-year-old man, according to CNN. The festival says the cause of the collapse was “a strong gust of wind” over 51 mph.

The president of the Valencia regional government, Ximo Puig, tweeted, “A terrible accident that shocks all of us. I want to extend my deepest condolences to the family and friends of the young man who died early this morning at the Medusa Festival in Cullera.”

DJ Miguel Serna was performing onstage as it happened. He shared thoughts on his Instagram story, writing, “It was a very tense few minutes, I’ve never experienced anything like it before. The tragedy happened just at the end of my session on the main stage, just below it, which was the most affected. It was a few moments of horror. I am still in shock.” Other artists on the lineup included Steve Aoki, Afrojack, and Marco Carola.

“We are completely devastated and dismayed at what happened last morning,” festival organizers posted on Facebook. “The management of Medusa Festival would like to express our deep and sincere condolences to the family and friends affected by the fatal consequences that occurred last night. It is a day of mourning and respect for those affected. And they will have us for everything they need. His unbearable suffering we also make ours.”
