Tucker Carlson Thinks One Of Trump’s Weirdest Tweets Is Funnier Than Anything Stephen Colbert Has Ever Said

Last week, members of The Late Show with Stephen Colbert team, including Triumph the Insult Comic Dog voice and puppeteer Robert Smigel, were arrested at a U.S Capitol building while filming a skit. They were charged with unlawful entry, which Tucker Carlson noted is “the exact same charge” awarded to the January 6 rioters. The Fox News host compared a cigar-chomping toy dog making a comedy video to the MAGA-loving patriots who wanted to hang the vice president, an equivalency that Colbert called a “shameful and grotesque insult to the memory of everyone who died.”

Carlson responded to Colbert during Tuesday’s episode of Tucker Carlson Tonight, accusing the late-night host of having “zero sense of humor” and that he “ought to step aside and let some young person who still gets the joke to have the job, but he won’t.” Carlson then imagined a hypothetical dinner party with Colbert.

“Chances are you somehow offend him over the course of a typical dinner by saying something he finds offensive. What are the chances of that? 100 percent. Stephen Colbert is a Karen. He’s a brittle, middle-aged woman who’s always lecturing you about something. In fact, he’s Elizabeth Warren. They even look alike. Have you seen them in the same room recently? No.”

Carlson also accused Colbert and Smigel of being less funny than the QAnon Shaman, the conspiracy theorist who was sentenced to 41 months in prison (where he’s “wasting away”) for his role in the riot, and the doofus who put his feet on Nancy Pelosi’s desk.

“Who’s funnier: Robert Smigel, or the guy who took pictures of himself at Nancy Pelosi’s desk on January 6? Be honest, it’s not even close. The guy at Pelosi’s desk is hilarious compared to the guy with the talking dog and none of them is half as funny,” he said. “Again, sorry it’s true as Donald Trump and how do you know that? Show us the late night host who said anything half as amusing as Trump’s Taco Bowl tweet.”

I hate to agree with Tucker, but… he might be correct (although it’s unclear whether Trump was trying to be funny — I doubt it). You can watch the Carlson clip below.

The ‘Thor: Love And Thunder’ Cast Had An Ice Bath Competition, And Yup, Chris Hemsworth Admits That He Got Smoked

Chris Hemsworth apparently spent so much time building up his guns for Thor: Love And Thunder that his body double struggled to maintain a convincingly equivalent physique. Yet looks can be deceiving when it comes to actual physical mettle, and really, is there anything more comical than Thor getting one-upped? Hell, even Thor enjoys it. Remember how thrilled he was when Captain America settled a long-running Age Of Ultron question by scooping up Mjölnir and going to town on Thanos?

In this film, Jane Foster will do that, too (as the trailer revealed). And if you were wondering if there were any endurance competitions among the cast, I’ve got some good news for you. Actually, this comes from Hemsworth speaking to ET Online. He was pleased, actually, to reveal that there was an ice-bath competition, and Tessa Thompson totally smoked his first effort:

“We had a big ice bath there, which we’d rotate through, and that became… the real test of strength,” he recalled. “I’d done it a bit, but I sort of was keeping my time in there to a minute or two, and [Tessa] came in the first day and did three and a half minutes. So then we all had to try and do three minutes.”

Ever since Valkyrie drunkenly stumbled out of an aircraft in Thor: Ragnarok, I knew Tessa Thompson could rule them all. All hail the new King of Asgard.

Tyler The Creator Admires The Honesty Of Kendrick Lamar’s ‘Mr. Morale & The Big Steppers’

Throughout Tyler, The Creator’s career, which has seen him evolve from highly controversial to mature and versatile, one resounding theme is his unbridled honesty. Whether it comes through in his raps or his interviews, the former Odd Future leader always tells it like it is. Thus, it only makes sense that the Call Me If You Get Lost artist took a liking to the honesty on one of the biggest releases of this year, Kendrick Lamar’s Mr. Morale & The Big Steppers, per his recent conversation at the 2022 Converse All Star Series in Paris.

The initial conversation was about vulnerability and Tyler took it a step further by highlighting the two-disc LP that was released in May. “I love that album, but I feel like he touches on sh*t that’s so, like, open and honest that some people can’t listen to it because they probably feel like he’s looking at them in their eyes and they’re like ‘Oh, I can’t panic. Uh, I can’t listen to this. Put on something else so I can hit my dougie.’ And keep forgetting and numbing the sh*t he’s talking about.”

Mr. Morale & The Big Steppers generated a lot of conversation for tracks like “Savior” where Kendrick attempts to remove himself from the pedestal he was put on, “Father Time” where he addresses how Drake and Kanye West’s reconciliation came off as odd to him due to his need to mature some more, and of course, “Auntie Diaries” where he unloads the clip of a certain queer slur while also addressing his family members’ gender transitions in a way that split the LGBTQIA+ community.

Our community, specifically within the internet, often struggles with accepting someone else’s truth, especially when delivered in a way they don’t like (not to justify the use of the aforementioned slurs.) Still, K. Dot overall received some positive reviews and Tyler is understandably within that camp.

Lorde Reveals The Initial Response To ‘Solar Power’ Was ‘Really Confounding And At Times Painful To Sit With’

Last summer, Lorde released Solar Power, her third album that was more polarizing than her previous two LPs, which received near-universal praise. The album strayed from the more pop-leaning sound of Lorde’s previous albums and achieved less chart success, as it only managed a peak at No. 5 in the US, worse than 2013’s Pure Heroine (No. 3) and 2017’s Melodrama (a chart-topper).

Lorde now says that as the album was making its way out into the world, the initial response to it was jarring for her. In an email newsletter sent to fans yesterday, Lorde wrote:

“It’s been a year since I announced the release of Solar Power. I can honestly say it has been the year with the highest highs and lowest lows I think I’ve ever experienced. It took people awhile to get the album — I still get emails every day from people who are just coming around to it now! — and that response was really confounding and at times painful to sit with at first. I learnt a ton about myself and how I’m perceived by making and releasing this album, and I feel significantly more connected and alive in my art practice and life than pretty much ever before. Sounds dry but it’s true!!!”

She went on to describe the album as one “that gets made between peaks,” saying, “I was sitting with a friend recently drinking chai at a country house in England, she’s an artist too, and we got on to the topic of the album somehow. She said, it’s clearly one of those works that gets made between peaks, the kind that’s necessary for makers sometimes, no less precious, in fact, there can’t be peaks at all without such works. I think this is true of the record. I needed to go low, to roll a neon ball through tall grass and see what happened. Playing songs from SP live each night in what is undoubtedly my best live show ever is also an incredible feeling — it all makes sense there, both to you and me, in a new and vivid way. And thanks to SP, I’ve been able to work through some big personal stuff that was making it pretty difficult for me to do stuff like travel or play shows without getting completely overwhelmed. I used to sit alone in my hotel room on show days, binge watching Bake Off, Ambien and Vitamin D on the bedside, my skin pale, my stomach knotted in fear. These days, I’m out the door in every city, walking for miles, eating gelato after dark, finding tiny wine bars, trying on vintage clothes down secret streets, laughing with friends, and playing better and better shows for you as a result. So yeah. Thankyou for all of it.”

The-Dream Says He Loves ‘Making You Guys Happy’ After Seeing The Reaction To Beyonce’s ‘Break My Soul’

Last week, Beyonce sent the world into a frenzy with the announcement that her seventh album Renaissance would arrive at the end of July. The chaos picked up when she revealed the project’s lead single, “Break My Soul” would be made available for fans on Tuesday. The song arrived a few hours earlier than expected as fans were given the opportunity to press play on it with just hours left in the Juneteenth holiday. Beyonce received sweeping praise from her fans for the song, and The-Dream, one of the song’s co-writers, took to Twitter to thank fans for their words.

“I Love Making You Guys Happy,” The-Dream wrote on Twitter before adding, “and even if for a second I can give anything of [myself] to help you get through a moment in these crazy times I’d use my entire heart to do so.” He continued, “No one’s f*cking sleeping tonight! @Beyonce we have done something special yet again my good friend.”

In addition to The-Dream, Beyonce’s “Break My Soul” also features songwriting from Tricky Stewart, Jay-Z, Fred McFarlane, Allen George, and others. The song itself samples Big Freedia’s 2014 bounce record “Explode” and Robin S.’ 1993 single “Show Me Love.”

Even Fox News’ Neil Cavuto Thinks The Jan. 6 Hearings Make Trump Look ‘Awful, Just Awful’

There hasn’t been a ton of pushback from Trumpists against the Jan. 6 committee hearings, at least not beyond some vague denunciations. There’s so much damning — and even embarrassing — evidence that there’s not much concrete for them to say. The main plan seems to be to ignore it, which is what Fox News mostly did at first. But after the fourth hearing on Tuesday, even the right-leaning network had to admit it really doesn’t make their once-favorite president look good.

Host Neil Cavuto brought on lawyer Thomas Dupree, who served in the Department of Justice under President George W. Bush, and proceeded to pick his brain after hours of hearing about Trump and cronies trying to bully state legislators into overturning the results without evidence, as well as demonizing election workers and all but ruining their lives in the process.

“Tom, you’re a lawyer and a great one,” Cavuto said. “And I’m not, but this just seems to make Donald Trump look awful, just awful.”

Dupree seemed to agree. “It seems to be a real theme that the committee members are trying to bring out in their statements and their questioning to show that the former president wasn’t just a bystander or that people that work for him were trying to do this, but that the president was a central player in all of this,” he replied.

Cavuto then asked a very good question: “If you knowingly make statements you know aren’t true and they’re proven untrue and yet you still make the statements – maybe because you’re totally and personally convinced you’re on the right and they’re on the wrong – at what point does that cross a constitutional line and maybe a legal one?”

“It can cross a legal line if you’re making those false statements in conjunction with the certification of an election or you’re trying to corrupt the count or things of that nature,” Dupree replied. He added that if it can be shown that Trump “believed or knew or understood that his claims didn’t have merit and yet, went ahead with this,” then he’s in real trouble.

So maybe it’s time for Trump to really start worrying. His inner circle reportedly is already.

Four Tet Wins His Royalty Battle Against His Former Label, Domino Records

Kieran Hebden, who records music under the name Four Tet, recently took to Twitter to share that he won his royalty battle against Domino Records. He signed onto a contract with the label back in 2001, and they had been paying him royalties at an 18 percent rate for streaming and downloads. After he demanded an alternative rate of 50, Domino acquiesced and is paying him $70,000. Read his tweets below.

“I have a bodacious update on my case with @Dominorecordco. They have recognised my original claim, that I should be paid a 50% royalty on streaming and downloads, and that they should be treated as a license rather than the same as a CD or vinyl sale.It has been a difficult and stressful experience to work my way through this court case and I’m so glad we got this positive result, but I feel hugely relieved that the process is over. Hopefully I’ve opened up a constructive dialogue and maybe prompted others to push for a fairer deal on historical contracts, written at a time when the music industry operated entirely differently. I really hope that my own course of action encourages anyone who might feel intimidated by challenging a record label with substantial means. Unlike Domino, I didn’t work with a big law firm and luckily the case took place in the at the Intellectual Property Enterprise Court court (where legal costs are capped) so I was able to stand my ground.”

This is one of many instances of artists in disputes with their labels—Megan Thee Stallion is suing her label 1501 Certified Entertainment, HER is suing MBK Entertainment.

Bradley Beal Will Reportedly Decline His Player Option And Become An Unrestricted Free Agent

After another sub-.500 season, the Washington Wizards are rapidly approaching a crossroads in which they will have to determine whether they are going to tie their future to Bradley Beal. The star guard got off to a slow start and never really got himself going, appearing in just 40 games before shutting it down to have wrist surgery in order to be fully healthy for the 2022-23 campaign.

This summer, Beal had to make a decision on a player option worth just north of $36 million to stay in Washington, work out a new extension/deal with the Wizards, or hit the open market where he would be the most coveted free agent available and have plenty of teams pursuing him via a sign-and-trade. According to Michael Scotto of HoopsHype, the first domino in Beal’s next step has fallen, as the All-Star will reportedly decline his player option and hit unrestricted free agency.

It is worth mentioning that this does not mean Beal is going to leave Washington — in fact, becoming an unrestricted free agent means that he is now able to sign a 5-year, $248 million supermax extension with the Wizards. While we don’t know if this is Beal’s plan or if he wants to take visits and see what other franchises can offer, he immediately becomes one of the best players in the 2022 free agent market.

Lorde Kicks Off The Official Summer Season With A Freeing Video For ‘The Path’

The official start of summer finally arrived today and many of us celebrated it in different ways. Some went outside to soak in the sun — if it was available to them at least — and others worked on plans that would make up the next three months. For Lorde, she used the day to unveil a new video for “The Path,” a track that was housed on her 2021 third album Solar Power. In it, Lorde wanders on a deserted island, and behind her, we can see fellow inhabitants of the island working hard on their daily tasks. They also show off some yoga-based group choreography in the visual.

In a newsletter that she shared with fans, Lorde explained her inspiration for the music video. “On the occasion of the solstice, I wanted to share a sixth video with you, for THE PATH,” she wrote according to Billboard. “This video is the first chapter in the mystical Solar Power story, a prequel to the title video. You see my character joining her friends and family on the island where they’ve chosen to start life anew, arriving in her trademark suit and quickly being transformed by nature’s strange magic. I’m so proud of my buds for learning the dance in this one. Hope you like it.”

Lorde also reflected on the first anniversary of her announcing the Solar Power project. “I can honestly say it has been the year with the highest highs and lowest lows I think I’ve ever experienced,” Lorde wrote. “It took people awhile to get the album — I still get emails every day from people who are just coming around to it now! — and that response was really confounding and at times painful to sit with at first.”

She continued, “I learnt a ton about myself and how I’m perceived by making and releasing this album, and I feel significantly more connected and alive in my art practice and life than pretty much ever before. Sounds dry but it’s true!!!”

The new visual follows “Fallen Fruit” from last fall.

An ‘Indiana Jones 5’ Producer Is Making Extremely Over-The-Top Promises About The Quality Of The Forthcoming Film

The last time we saw good ol’ Indiana Jones, some 14 years back, not everyone left happy. Kingdom of the Crystal Skull was generally seen as a stepdown from the original three entries, to put it mildly. (Though it might age well.) Perhaps that’s why, with the next one, whose star is about to turn 80, one of the film’s producers is going perhaps a bit overboard in getting people amped up.

Frank Marshall, who produced the 1981 original and Skulls, spoke to the Motion Picture Academy’s site A.frame, and he seemed to be aware that the franchise’s fans need some reassuring that things will be better this time, albeit without offering any specifics.

“It’s a great story, it’s a great character, and I think you’re going to be very happy with this movie,” Marshall said. “It’s everything I think that everybody wants out of an Indiana Jones movie.”

Maybe he’s right and this is a return to the glory of days of Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade, from 33 years ago. If that’s true, then they did it without Steven Spielberg in the director’s chair for the first time in the series (though he remains a producer). And if it succeeds, it did so after surviving some hiccups and some delays.

As of now very little it known about what Indy 5 even is. The plot is being kept close to the vest, and it’s not clear what its cast — including Phoebe Waller-Bridge, Mads Mikkelsen, and Boyd Holbrook — will be doing. All that’s been seen is a dark picture of Ford with a whip.

The fifth Indiana Jones romp, which wrapped principal photography in February, is due in theaters on June 30, 2023.
