The Proud Boys Indictment Contains A Very Curious Line That’s Making People Side-Eye Lauren Boebert And Marjorie Taylor Greene

Lauren Boebert and Marjorie Taylor Greene are facing intense scrutiny following Monday’s indictment of several members of the Proud Boys for their involvement in the January 6 attack on the U.S. Capitol building. As reported by CBS News, these are the “most aggressive charges” to be handed down following the MAGA insurrection. However, people are zeroing in on a curious line in the indictment that sounds very familiar. Namely the use of term “1776 RETURNS.”

According to the indictment, in December 2020, Tarrio and the Proud Boys members conspired to obstruct and stop the counting of the Electoral College vote on Jan. 6. An unnamed individual sent Tarrio a document entitled “1776 RETURNS,” which described a plan to occupy multiple buildings in Washington, D.C., including congressional office buildings. Using encrypted messaging programs, the indicted Proud Boys are accused of discussing their plans for the rally and beyond.

The 1776 theme was used by both Boebert and Greene in the lead-up to the attack. On January 5, Greene told Newsmax that Donald Trump’s “Stop the Steal” rally is “our 1776 moment.” As for Boebert, on the morning of January 6, she tweeted, “Today is 1776.” Now, that phrasing has popped up in documents pertaining to the Proud Boys involvement in the planning and execution of stopping the certification of the 2020 presidential election.

On social media, users have been quick to point out the 1776 connection, which seems like much more than just mere coincidence. You can see examples of Boebert and Greene getting called out below:

Tom Holland Was ‘So Nervous’ To Meet His Fellow Spider-Men, According To Zendaya

Last summer, when everyone was debating on if Toby Mcguire and Andrew Garfield would actually make a cameo in Spider-Man: No Way Home, nobody was quite as nervous as Tom Holland was. Mcguire and Garfield’s appearances were kept a major secret from everyone, and when the former-spideys were expected to arrive on set, Holland was afraid of his arachnoid elders.

In a very pleasant Variety interview between Zendaya and Garfield, the two opened up about their time together on the top-secret set, which turned out to be an emotional but rewarding experience, when they weren’t goofing off and wearing fake butts. When asked about their intersecting storylines, Garfield explained, “I love the idea that maybe Tom’s Peter would’ve suffered the same fate as Andrew’s Peter if Andrew hadn’t have somehow come into that universe and learned from the mistakes of the past and made sure that my younger brother and his love didn’t have the same fate.”

Despite the emotions of their scenes together, Zendaya revealed how Holland really felt the first time the other Spider-men showed up to set. Holland allegedly didn’t want to overstep while in the presence of superhero royalty:

ZENDAYA: What was really funny when I think about it is Tom was so nervous about you guys coming in. He was like, “I don’t want to step on anyone’s toes.”

GARFIELD: He never let anything on to us. Me and Tobey were like, “This is Tom’s movie. It’s your guys’ movie.” And it was like, if we can help. … But it’s so funny because you guys were like, “We’re going to come and hang out with you at rehearsal.” I’m like, “What are these guys doing?”

ZENDAYA: That’s why we were there. We were there for emotional support.

GARFIELD: Very sweet.

ZENDAYA: We were like, “I think they don’t know how much fun we like to have when we’re doing this job.”

GARFIELD: It became evident very quick.

ZENDAYA: Fell right into the crew. I’m pissing myself laughing, but I was dying. You guys had me dying — like crying laughing — in between takes all the time.

GARFIELD: My brother’s treating COVID patients as we speak, and I’m wearing a lovely jacket talking about Spider-Man. But then he goes home and watches Spider-Man with his boys. Oh no. I’m just trying to justify my existence.

Hey, after a long few years, sometimes all the fans need is to sit and watch Spider-Man with the boys. And a lot of people did just that!

SZA Hints That She’ll Be Dropping Multiple Unreleased Songs From The ‘Ctrl’ Sessions This Week

Now that Kendrick Lamar has ended his five-year album hiatus with the release of Mr. Morale & The Big Steppers, we can devote our thirst and full attention to another TDE Records artist who is approaching the five-year mark: SZA. This Thursday, June 9th, will mark the five-year anniversary of when the “Love Galore” singer dropped her breakthrough album, Ctrl, and SZA has hinted that she’s ready to share a batch of unreleased tunes from that era to celebrate the occasion.

In a Monday tweet, SZA posted simply, “Unreleased songs from 2017 to celebrate 5 .. me thinks .” Hmm…ok. This would be a nice little precursor to a supposed new album this summer. At the Met Gala in early May, SZA told Vogue that, “The album’s finally ready to go — more than I’ve ever felt before. So this summer, it’ll be a SZA summer.” A drop of tracks from the Ctrl sessions would be like putting on a fresh coat of sunscreen before it gets really hot.

Meanwhile, SZA is set to make a slew of festival appearances this summer. Earlier today, she was just announced as a headliner for the Day N Vegas festival in September with J Cole and Travis Scott. She’s also atop the bill at San Francisco’s Outside Lands Festival in August with Green Day and Post Malone.

Abortion Activists Interrupted Joel Osteen’s Church Service By Stripping Down To Their Underwear And Chanting ‘My Body, My F*cking Choice’

Joel Osteen, the millionaire pastor who refused to open his church doors to victims of Hurricane Harvey, had his service interrupted by abortion activists who were protesting the extremely likely scenario of the Supreme Court overturning Roe v. Wade.

The Houston Chronicle reports that on Sunday, “as Pastor Joel Osteen concluded a prayer and congregants began to take their seats, three activists with Texas Rise Up 4 Abortion Rights stood up [and] removed their dresses.” They shouted “my body, my f*cking choice,” and chanted “overturn Roe? Hell no!” as security ushered them out. They didn’t even have time to search for “bags and bags” of cash hidden in the walls.

The activists, a trio from Texas Rise Up 4 Abortion Rights, were wearing white sports bras with green hand prints on them to symbolize the color representing the pro-choice movement. Security promptly escorted the three women out of the church as many congregants began to cheer at their dismissal.

“I know it seems very outrageous to do it in a church in a private space,” activist Julianne D’Eredita told local Houston television station KPRC 2. “However, the people who are enforcing these laws have no qualms coming up to women in private spaces such as doctors’ offices and medical clinics to harass them and call them murderers.”

You can watch footage of the protest below.

Mount Westmore Releases Their Album ‘Bad MFs’ On Gala Music’s Metaverse

Mount Westmore, the supergroup consisting of California rap pioneers E-40, Ice Cube, Snoop Dogg, and Too Short, has released their debut album, Bad MFs, but there’s a catch: Right now, it only exists in the metaverse. The album can be streamed on the blockchain-based platform Gala Music for a limited time, then it will be given a traditional release. The group premiered the project at Gala Music’s Galaverse event in Malta, dropping an introductory video to announce its release.

The album’s release could provide a clue about Snoop Dogg’s plans to bring the Death Row Records catalog, which he recently acquired, to the metaverse. Shortly after he secured the label and its music, Snoop said he wanted to make Death Row the “first NFT label” and this could be what he means.

Mount Westmore kicked their album’s rollout in the spring of 2021, when they announced their union’s official title during E-40 and Too Short’s Verzuz battle, where they also debuted their first group single, “Big Subwoofer.” They followed up the video for the single in October of 2021, then kept the ball rolling with the “Bad MFs” video in March this year.

Bad MFs is out now via Gala Music. Check out the tracklist below.

01. “California”
02. “Mount Westmore Pt.1”
03. “Ghetto Gutter”
04. “Sinister Slap”
05. “Activated”
06. “Too Big”
07. “Tribal”
08. “Aim Squeeze Bust”
09. “Bad MFs”
10. “Big Sub Woofer”
11. “Free Game”

Miles Teller Felt Totally Out Of His League While Training For ‘Top Gun: Maverick’: I Was ‘Basically Getting Water Boarded’

As Top Gun: Maverick continues to shatter box office records, Miles Teller is opening up about his intense training for the Tom Cruise film. As everyone knows, Cruise goes hard for his films, and for Top Gun: Maverick that included getting actors up in real jets so the film wouldn’t have to rely on CGI effects. However, as Teller learned the hard way, that involved getting certified by the Navy in the event one of the planes went down over the water. A thing that could very well could happen.

During an interview with the About Last Night podcast, Teller described the underwater training, which he likened to being “water boarded.” According to Teller, he and the other cast mates were strapped into what’s called a “dunker” that simulates being trapped inside a fully submerged cockpit. It was not fun! Via Mediaite:

“So you’re upside down. So instead of climbing cross chairs like this, you’re upside down, you get out of your straps, which I think there was four. And then you’re climbing the seats like this and you’re blindfolded and you’re underwater and you’re upside down. So you’re basically getting water boarded,” he added.

“Jesus!” remarked [host Adam] Ray.

“I was like, dude, I’m an actor!” Teller laughed.

Naturally, the experience gave Teller a newfound experience for Cruise’s intensity, which he has no intention of ever trying to match. “No offense, Tom [Cruise], but like, you do you. Nobody else is in your lane, man” Teller quipped. “Gimme some comedy lines or something.”

J. Cole, SZA, And Travis Scott Will Headline Day N Vegas 2022

Day N Vegas is returning in 2022 with J. Cole, SZA, and Travis Scott as headliners. Scheduled for September 2-4 at the Las Vegas Festival Grounds, this will be the third iteration of the festival since 2019, as well as Travis Scott’s return since being removed as a headliner of the 2021 edition. Intriguingly enough, Travis also canceled his 2019 performance and was replaced at the last minute by Young Thug, so if he does perform this year, it’ll be the first time since the festival was started, even though he’s been on the lineup all three years. Weird, right?

In addition to the above-mentioned performers, Day N Vegas 2022 will include a who’s-who of hip-hop and R&B stars. 21 Savage, Baby Keem, H.E.R., Jhene Aiko, Playboi Carti, and Summer Walker fill out the top line of performers alongside Blxst, Don Toliver, Joji, Jorja Smith, Pusha T, and Trippie Redd, while the rest of the roster has rising stars and longtime genre mainstays like Amine, Babyface Ray, Chloe, City Girls, Doechii, Earthgang, JID, Jay Rock, Smino, Tobe Nwigwe, T-Pain, Vince Staples, and more.

Registration for presale passes is now open and passes will be available starting Friday, June 10 at 10 AM PT. You can find more information at Daynvegas2022.com.

Ready For Smoke? The Full Line of Ardbeg Scotch Whiskies, Tasted Blind And Ranked

Ardbeg might well be the Scotch whisky with the most devoted fans in the world. People travel across the planet to pick up bottles at the distillery on Ardbeg Day every year. Their fan base is devoted online as well, where bottles regularly sell out in minutes. What’s wild about all of that is that Ardbeg is one of the most heavily peated Islay whiskies out there. Meaning its smoky and, quite often, smoky AF. Moreover, their releases are some of the funkiest, weirdest, and wildest in the whole damn industry.

That all makes Ardbeg the epitome of “go big or go home” in a Scotch whisky bottle. They take shots and even miss on occasion. It’s fun to witness (and taste!).

Today, I’m ranking the core bottles plus a couple of special editions during blind to see what all the hype is about. I was lucky enough to be on Islay for Ardbeg Day this year, so I sampled these whiskies literally a few steps from both the sea and the distillery. Did that inform my tasting notes? Of course. But that’s why technically I did it “double-blind” in that I had no idea what was on the table outside of the core bottles. Let’s dive right in!

Part 1: The Tasting

Ardbeg Blind
Zach Johnston

Taste 1

Ardbeg Blind
Zach Johnston

Tasting Notes:

There’s a softness on the nose that leans into dark yet slightly tart berries under layers of sharp spice, wet brown sugar, and plenty of sea salt. The palate ups the saltiness as yellow Scotch Broom flowers mingle with creamy dark chocolate, dashes of freshly cracked black pepper, and a light hint of citrus oil. The finish is soft and creamy thanks to that dark chocolate with mild spice cut by more sea salt and a hint of ground mushroom powder with a mossy edge.

This is a great place to start. It’s mild yet balanced. I’d guess this is a higher-end bottle.

Taste 2

Ardbeg Blind
Zach Johnston

Tasting Notes:

Slow-smoked peaches mingle with soft cherrywood and a bundle of smoky savory herbs — sage, rosemary, ramps — on the nose. The palate is soft and buttery with a sweet burnt toffee vibe next to nutmeg, walnut, Earl Grey, and maybe a touch of woody maple syrup. The end takes its time and meanders through salted black licorice, wild florals, more singed savory herbs, and a hint of black-pepper-covered brisket fat that’s been heavily smoked over sea-soaked driftwood.

This is the good stuff. I’m guessing this is An Oa, which I adore. We’ll see!

Taste 3

Ardbeg Blind
Zach Johnston

Tasting Notes:

This is a little abrasive on the nose with alcohol soaking through dried berries and raisins next to a hint of pear candy, woody vanilla, and dried dirt. The palate has a hint of smoked plums that leads directly into pear candy with a touch of smoked pork belly buried in BBQ ash. The finish is a mix of hot asphalt and soft pear tobacco with a thin layer of salt water calming everything down.

This is obviously Wee Beastie. It’s good but not nearly as refined as the previous two.

Taste 4

Ardbeg Blind
Zach Johnston

Tasting Notes:

The nose is classic Ardbeg with hints of BBQ smoker ash that’s full of fat, tart red berries, lemon pepper, and a hint of creamy dark chocolate — Hello, Ardbeg 10! The palate follows the nose’s lead while layering in sea-salt brined pork fat, hints of bourbon vanilla, and an echo of Nutella. The finish has that deep salted black licorice vibe leading to a slow fade through the peppery smoked fat, charcoal ash, chocolate nuttiness, and finally smoked red berries with a sweet/tart edge.

Yeah, this is the 10 and really f*cking good.

Taste 5

Ardbeg Blind
Zach Johnston

Tasting Notes:

Oh yeah, here we go! The nose is a matrix of smoked plums next to lush Christmas cakes full of dried and candied fruit and citrus with plenty of fatty nuts, dark and wintry spice, and buttery caramel drizzle hit with plenty of sea salt next to a whisper of dried lavender and overripe, almost woody plantains. The palate balances sweet berries and pear candy with smoky salmon fat and dark chocolate malts. The mid-palate adds a hint of dried chili heat while fading towards a finish full of smoked fat, dried fruit, and a buttery dark chocolate sauce bespeckled with flakes of smoked pink sea salt and cedar chips.

This has to be Uigeadail. It’s glorious.

Taste 6

Ardbeg Blind
Zach Johnston

Tasting Notes:

This is much lighter on the nose with hints of wet charcoal meeting notes of raw cacao nibs with a sour edge, a touch of pepper, hints of grapefruit pith, and whispers of dried flowers and sweet herbs. The palate meanders through notes of cigarette ash, anise, savory scones with dark chocolate drops, and cardamon with a small line of Band-Aid and pear sneaking in late. The finish has a note of menthol/chocolate tobacco with a bit of dry asphalt.

I can’t decide if I like that medicinal note or not. It feels both out of place and yet… strangely makes sense for a heavily peated Islay. I’m on the fence.

Taste 7

Ardbeg Blind
Zach Johnston

Tasting Notes:

The nose opens with a hint of a stainless steel pan that’s been well seasoned for decades in a pro kitchen next to touches of wet anise, soft cedar ash, worn boot leather, old bars of soap, a whisper of pine resin, and a tiny hint of the bowl from a tobacco pipe. The palate ups all of that while adding in the salted black licorice next to fresh and wet charcoal with a hint of moss and forest floor. The mid-palate opens up with a lemon cough drop with a menthol vibe next to hot tar and sticky anise-infused pipe tobacco with a smoldering edge that feels like the end of a clove cigarette.

This was wildly tasty and complex.

Part 2: The Ranking

7. Ardbeg Wee Beastie — Taste 3

Ardbeg
Louis Vuitton Moet Hennessy

ABV: 47.4%

Average Price: $55

The Whisky:

This expression from Ardbeg was released back in April of 2020. The juice is aged for only five years in both ex-bourbon and ex-oloroso sherry casks before marrying for the final product. The idea is to give a sense of the quality of the peaty juice from Port Ellen’s malting house without too much wood influence.

Bottom Line:

This was pretty good but is clearly an entry-level spirit from Ardbeg that, I’d argue, is best used for mixing smoky cocktails.

6. Ardbeg Corryvrecken — Taste 1

Ardbeg Corryvrecken
LVMH

ABV: 46%

Average Price: $106

The Whisky:

This whisky is named after the world’s second-largest ocean whirlpool, called Corryvrecken. The juice in the bottle is Ardbeg Ten blended with single malt that’s been aged exclusively in new French Limousin casks.

Bottom Line:

It’s wild this ranked so low. This is delicious Scotch. That just goes to show you the deep complexity we’re dealing with when talking Ardbeg.

5. Ardbeg 10 — Taste 4

Louis Vuitton Moët Hennessy

ABV: 46%

Average Price: $65

The Whisky:

This is Ardbeg’s signature bottle and a true gateway to the peaty style of single malt scotches. The real highlight of this expression is the peat smokiness filtered through sherry casking. The phenol count tends to be on the higher end with this expression, so you’ll know you’re drinking a smoky whisky from the first nose. But it won’t absolutely floor you.

Bottom Line:

This is a subtle masterpiece. It’s so accessible while being distinctly Ardbeg and Islay with that peat and fruit. This is truly a nice sipping or mixing whisky.

4. Ardbeg Ardcore Limited Edition — Taste 6

Ardcore
LVMH

ABV: 46%

Average Price: $132

The Whisky:

2022’s Ardbeg Day release is an outlier for the distillery. The juice is made with a mash of peated Islay barely mixed with a heavily roasted barley in the mix. That dark barley imbues a layer of dark chocolate to the juice that lasts through the aging process.

Bottom Line:

This was a stand-out for sure. It just didn’t have the same level of refinement as the next three entries. That said, it’s a unique Ardbeg that will appeal to whisky fans with a love for subtle and slightly tart chocolate.

3. Ardbeg An Oa — Taste 2

Louis Vuitton Moët Hennessy

ABV: 46.6%

Average Price: $73

The Whisky:

This is a quintessential Islay peaty whisky. The juice is aged in a combo of Pedro Ximénez, charred virgin oak, and ex-bourbon casks before being married and rested again in Ardbeg’s bespoke oak “Gathering Vat,” allowing the whiskies to really meld into a cohesive dram.

Bottom Line:

This is a classic whisky all around. It’s complex, compelling, and comforting. Yes, it’s bold but that boldness never gets in the way of a nuanced drinking experience.

2. Ardbeg Scorch Limited Edition — Taste 7

Ardbeg Scorch
LVMH

ABV: 46%

Average Price: $160

The Whisky:

2021’s Ardbeg Day release leans into the heat. The heavily peated juice is aged in ex-bourbon barrels that have been re-charred with “dragon’s breath” until they’re as charred as they can be without turning into charcoal staves.

Bottom Line:

This is wildly delicious. In the end, it was between this and the Uigeadail for the number one spot. And while this was a clear standout, it wasn’t quite as sweetly comforting as the next dram.

1. Ardbeg Uigeadail — Taste 5

Ardbeg Uigeadail
LVMH

ABV: 54.2%

Average Price: $95

The Whisky:

The mix of peated malts, yeast, and that inky lake water from Islay creates a spirit that’s already full of flavors before it goes into the barrel. That hot juice is then aged in both ex-bourbon and ex-sherry casks. When the whisky in the barrel is just right, they’re blended into this single malt expression, proofed with local spring water, and bottled without any filtration.

Bottom Line:

This was outstanding. It wasn’t a runaway train outstanding today — the Scorch Limited Edtion was damn close — but great nonetheless. This is also the pour I wanted to immediately enjoy again. If you buy one Ardbeg, it should be this.

Part 3: Final Thoughts

Ardbeg Blind
Zach Johnston

This was a delightful and bold set of whiskies. What’s amazing is that even with the heavy levels of peated malt involved, my palate wasn’t overwhelmed a single time throughout or at the end. It left me wanting to revisit these whiskies immediately. Trust me, not all peated malts can achieve that level of nuance and accessibility on the palate.

Overall, I wasn’t too surprised by the winner. Ardbeg Uigeadail is one of the finest whiskies that you can still actually find on shelves for a fair price. So my big takeaway is simple — go get some!

Rex Orange County’s Heart Follows Him In His New ‘One In A Million’ Video

In the latest video from his new album, Who Cares?, Rex Orange County doesn’t follow his heart. Rather, a large, sentient, fabric version of his heart shows up and follows him in a variety of scenarios. The “One In A Million” video, directed by Bráulio Amado, sees Rex drowning his sorrows in ice cream and television, while the heart character continues to torment him.

Lyrically, “One In A Million” is about Rex realizing he can’t provide the things the woman he loves needs. “My heart keeps driving me crazy,” he sings, “There’s nothing much I can do, I’m aware / There’s no one quite like you.”

Rex wrote much of the new album while in quarantine during the early onset of the COVID-19 pandemic. In an interview with Vulture, he revealed that he hopes that his fans learn to be kind to themselves upon listening to the album.

“There are a few deep messages on the album,” Rex says, “one of which is the importance of self-love. I’ve done a lot of hating myself, and I know how easy it is to be mad at yourself. The worst thing I’ve ever said was to myself. I’m just trying to spread this message to let people know that it’s okay to be nice to yourself and that you don’t have to change anything about yourself. My biggest message to myself is that this is my time to be free and not be concerned about what people are going to think about it. We only have one life to live, so just be yourself and see how that goes.”

Check out “One In A Million” above.
