The Most Anticipated Tours Of 2022

While we got a taste of it in the latter half of 2021, it’s now been several years since there was a normal touring year. And though 2022’s touring schedule is hardly set in stone for most musicians, it should see many artists doing their best to provide live entertainment to fans across the country. From stadium tours to clubs, these are just some of the artists we’re most excited to see, with more to be announced as the year goes by. Check out the most anticipated tours of 2022 below.

Bad Bunny

Not only was Bad Bunny 2021’s most streamed artist in the world on Spotify, but the Puerto Rican star’s 2022 El Último Tour Del Mundo (translation: The Last Tour on Earth) smashed a number of sales records as soon as it was announced. When the pre-sale for the tour began in April, over 480,000 tickets were sold in less than a week. On April 15th alone, he sold more tickets on a single day than any tour since Jay-Z and Beyoncé in 2018. All stats and trivia aside, the reggaeton rapper is one of the biggest acts in the world and his on-stage persona reflects that. Look no further than the hyper-futurism of his performance on “Lo Siento BB:/” with Tainy and Julietta Venegas at the AMAs.

Big Thief

With their fifth album coming soon, 2022 is shaping up to be the year of Big Thief. The band’s hotly-anticipated, impressively massive 20-song effort Dragon New Warm Mountain I Believe In You is out in February, and they have quite a slate of tour dates on the books in support. Starting in late January, the quartet will bring their expanding, experimental Americana sound to life on a run that’s equally as ambitious as their new album, spanning nearly six months (with some breaks) and hitting cities across Europe and the US.

Bon Iver

Bon Iver put on some concerts last year to celebrate the tenth anniversary of Bon Iver, Bon Iver, but if you missed out on those, Justin Vernon and company are hitting the road this year. During the first half of 2022, they’ll travel across North America, then closer to the end of the year, fans in Europe and the UK will get the chance to see the show, too. How great can you expect it to be? Well, if you ask Uproxx’s Philip Cosores, he’ll tell you that Bon Iver “might be the best live band in the world right now.”

Check out Bon Iver’s tour dates here. – Derrick Rossignol

Clairo

After finding success within the bedroom pop genre on her 2019 debut album Immunity, Clairo made a decisive pivot to mesmerizing piano ballads inspired by iconic ’70s songwriters like Joni Mitchell on her 2021 album Sling. The shift in sound is thanks to Clairo’s new role as caretaker for her adorable dog Joanie (also inspired by Mitchell), which made her fantasize a life of rural domesticity. But her new direction of music also means she’ll take on a whole new stage presence for her 2022 tour. Bringing along breakout UK songwriter Arlo Parks as an opener, Clairo is set to embark on two-month US tour which kicks off in mid-February in Charlotte, North Carolina and comes to a close in April with a tour stop in Atlanta.

Coldplay

When it came time to promote Everyday Life in 2019, Coldplay didn’t tour and vowed not to again until they made great strides in turning their global treks into more environmentally friendly affairs. Well, it appears they’ve made some progress, as they are indeed set to tour in support of 2021’s Music Of The Spheres between March and August after spending “two years consulting with environmental experts to make this tour as sustainable as possible, and, just as importantly, to harness the tour’s potential to push things forward.”

Check out Coldplay’s tour dates here. – D.R.

Cordae

Cordae’s got some mighty big shoes to fill in 2022 — his own. After scoring two Grammy nominations with his debut album, The Lost Boy, the Maryland rapper is gearing up to release its long-awaited follow-up From A Bird’s Eye View. That means a tour to support the new project, which kicks off in February at the Dallas House Of Blues. Given his focus on demonstrating a couple of years’ worth of artistic growth on that album, it makes sense to expect some similar evolution in his live show, which was already a polished, must-see package.

Doja Cat

Doja Cat’s 2020 was sensational, but it came with an asterisk: A global pandemic shut down her ability to tour with the songs that blew her up on the national stage, leaving her frustrated by a succession of seemingly empty televised performances of her No. 1 hit “Say So.” While she said that she was worn down from being overworked doing everything but music, good news is on the horizon, as 2022 will see the return of live shows and the opportunity to finally perform her Planet Her hits for an appreciative, live audience. – A.W.

Drake

So, Drake’s set on Kanye’s Free Larry Hoover concert in LA was a little disappointing, but only in the context of his co-headliner reviving all of his own hits as a sort of mea culpa for the last five years of bluster and nonsense. Drake, who opted to play solely Certified Lover Boy singles — aside from a quick hit of “God’s Plan” from Scorpion — wound up giving something like a preview or dry run of what a Certified Lover Boy tour might look like. He hasn’t announced one yet but given his gift for recalibration in light of Twitter’s responses to his work, it appears probable he’ll be incorporating those critiques for whenever he actually does. – A.W.

Dua Lipa

Dua Lipa’s shimmering disco-pop album Future Nostalgia was written to be heard in nightclubs everywhere, but that didn’t quite go according to plan thanks to the pandemic. Now armed with several top-charting singles, a new album of revved-up remixes, and a number of showstopping Future Nostalgia livestream performances, Lipa is gearing up to bring her 2020 album to stages across the world in 2022. Bringing along Megan Thee Stallion and Caroline Polachek to set the tone for her concerts as openers, Lipa is plotting a two-month US tour starting in Miami in early February and closing out in Seattle in March.

Check out Dua Lipa’s tour dates here. – C.D.

Haim

Haim’s stellar album Women In Music Pt. III may have been released in 2020, but the sister trio are just now gearing up to embark on their supporting tour thanks to years of unpredictability in the live music industry. If Haim’s revved up 2021 Grammy performance was any indication, the band’s WIMPIII tour will be well worth the wait. While Haim have already played a handful of festivals this past year, their official tour kicks off in April in Las Vegas before coming to a close in late July in San Diego.

Check out Haim’s tour dates here. – C.D.

Jack White

Jack White has been busy. The former White Stripe has two new albums slated for release in 2022 — Fear Of The Dawn is due April 8 and then Entering Heaven Alive drops a few months later, on July 22 — and he’s wasting no time getting on the road. The cleverly-titled “Supply Chain Issues Tour” kicks off on Fear Of The Dawn‘s release day in White’s hometown of Detroit and hits large theaters and arenas across the US and Europe through late August. Just don’t expect any cell phone footage from these shows, because your phone’s getting locked up!

Check out Jack White’s tour dates here. – Z.G.

Jazmine Sullivan

Jazmine Sullivan began 2021 with her Heaux Tales EP, her first body of work in almost six years. Its 11 tracks and guest appearances from Ari Lennox, HER, and Anderson .Paak amounted to a project that R&B lovers praised and carried close to their hearts for the rest of the year. Sullivan received awards, love, and more as a result of Heaux Tales, and in response, she’s heading out on the road in 2022 for a tour in support of the project. The Heaux Tales tour begins in mid-February with Sullivan performing in a number of major cities across North America for a total of 26 shows.

Justin Bieber

Fans of Justin Bieber are in for quite the treat this year. After two failed attempts to hold a tour for his fifth album Changes, and the eventual release of his sixth full-length effort Justice, Bieber will hit the road for a massive world tour in 2022. It marks his first tour since 2016’s Purpose World Tour. Altogether, the Justice World Tour is comprised of 105 shows in North and South America, Europe, Asia, Africa, and Oceania while Jaden, ¿Téo?, Eddie Benjamin, and Harry Hudson will serve as opening acts.

Check out Justin Bieber’s tour dates here. – W.O.

Kacey Musgraves

A few months after releasing her 2021 standout Star-Crossed, the (maybe-not-so-country) star is just days away from getting to tour behind it. Her trek kicks off in January and runs for about a month (so far), hitting major markets like LA, New York, and Nashville along the way. If seeing just Musgraves perform somehow isn’t exciting enough of a prospect, she’s bringing a tremendous pair of openers, King Princess and Muna, along for the ride.

Check out Kacey Musgraves’ tour dates here. – D.R.

The Killers

Since The Killers couldn’t tour in support of 2020’s Imploding The Mirage, they went ahead and made another album, Pressure Machine, instead. That one will get a tour, as the band is set to hit the road in the latter half of 2022, hitting North America this summer and fall, between August and October. For a preview of what those shows might look like (or at least a reminder of what a force the band is live), revisit their Tonight Show performances of “Dying Breed” and “When You Were Young” from a few months ago.

Check out The Killers’ tour dates here. – D.R.

Latto

Like many of her peers who also saw their public profile rise drastically in 2020, Latto found herself hamstrung by her inability to get out into the world and play her Queen Of Da Souf records live. The Uproxx cover artist had a succession of fan-favorite singles over the past two years, but the corona happened. It turned out to be a blessing in disguise, though, affording her enough off time to effect her name change, and with her headlining set on the Monster Energy Outbreak Tour, she’ll be able to test the waters without assuming as much of the risk.

Check out Latto’s tour dates here. – A.W.

Little Simz

Little Simz could be currently in the midst of a one-woman British Invasion thanks to her Best of 2021 album Sometimes I Might Be Introvert — the only thing missing is a North American tour. While she almost certainly won’t draw the levels of mass hysteria implied by that prediction, she will have a chance to reinforce her grip on Stateside pop culture, which could ensure that when she returns for a follow-up to SIMBI, there’ll be much more well-deserved fanfare.

Check out Little Simz’s tour dates here. – A.W.

Lorde

lorde-feat.jpg
Getty Image

Lorde may be one of today’s biggest pop stars, but she only emerges into the public eye when she’s releasing new music. That’s why fans were overjoyed Lorde officially began her Solar Power era last year, which included the announcement of a massive 2022 tour. Though actually securing tickets to her 58-date 2022 world tour before it sold out was difficult to say the least, those who are able to attend the singer’s tour are in for a treat. Bringing along openers like Remi Wolf and Marlon Williams, Lorde will kick off her tour by playing shows through major cities in the US starting February 26 before heading over to Europe in May and returning to her New Zealand homeland in 2023.

Check out Lorde’s tour dates here. – C.D.

My Chemical Romance

My Chemical Romance played exactly one show on their sold-out reunion tour all the way back in December of 2019, seemingly eons before the world shut down. Their return to the stage was originally scheduled for Riot Fest 2021, but the band ultimately pushed their headlining appearance back one year during a spike in COVID cases last summer. Now, finally, all of the dates have been rescheduled and the band is set to hit the road in the UK and Europe in May of 2022 before returning to the United States next summer. Fingers crossed it actually sticks this time.

Check out My Chemical Romance’s tour dates here. – Z.G.

Olivia Rodrigo

In 2021, Olivia Rodrigo went from Disney channel lead to certified pop star. She took the world by storm, earned several Grammy nominations, various awards, and even the chance to meet with President Biden without ever having gone on tour. But that’s all about to change this year as the singer is set to embark on her first-ever US and European tour in support of her smash-hit album Sour. Rodrigo’s (already sold-out) 47-date tour kicks off in San Francisco in April before heading to Europe in June and coming to a close in London in July.

Check out Rodrigo’s tour dates here. – C.D.

Pavement

There’s a generation of indie rock fans that hasn’t had the opportunity to see Pavement live, as the legendary group last toured in 2010. Now, though, Stephen Malkmus, Scott “Spiral Stairs” Kannberg, and the rest have a reunion tour on the docket for 2022. The North American leg of the tour kicks off in September, and while that’s a few months away, that wait is nothing compared to the past 12 years fans have spent hoping that this day would actually come.

Check out Pavement’s tour dates here. – D.R.

Rage Against The Machine / Run The Jewels

One of the most anticipated runs of 2020, “The Public Service Announcement Tour” was set to feature the reunion of Rage Against The Machine — the modern era’s most revolutionary rock band — with support from Run The Jewels — the most outspoken rap duo on the scene. But, just like everything else, we had to wait an additional two years to see Rage Against The Machine return to the stage this spring for their oft-rumored reunion tour. The new set of dates kick off in Texas in March and features a number of North American stops before wrapping up with a week of shows at Madison Square Garden in August.

Check out Rage Against The Machine’s tour dates here. – Z.G.

Sharon Van Etten / Angel Olsen / Julien Baker

Back in 2018, we got to see some of the most promising artists in indie rock — Julien Baker, Phoebe Bridgers, and Lucy Dacus — team up for the Boygenius tour. Now, Baker is set to team up with more indie rock royalty on “The Wild Hearts Tour,” which will find her sharing the stage with Sharon Van Etten and Angel Olsen. The monthlong, mostly outdoor jaunt kicks off in July in Virginia and treks across the entire continental US before wrapping in New York City at the Central Park Summerstage in late August.

Snoh Aalegra

Two years after her beloved second album Ugh, Those Feels Again, Snoh Aalegra returned to the summer of 2021 with her third project Temporary Highs In The Violet Skies. With help from Tyler The Creator, Pharrell Williams, and James Fauntleroy, Snoh Aalegra created a project that was sonically different when compared to her first two albums. This will make for a unique live show experience, at least on her terms, that fans will see when she hits the road for the Temporary Highs Tour later this year. Snoh will perform at 21 shows across North America with British singer Ama Lou serving as her opening act for the string of concerts.

Check out Snoh Aalegra’s full tour dates here. – W.O.

Tyler The Creator

Call Me If You Get Lost is officially one of the biggest albums of the year, and Tyler’s tour supporting it will almost certainly be one of the year’s must-sees. He’s already proven to be one of the top performers in hip-hop, giving aesthetic overhauls to his looks between album cycles and incorporating those changes into his innovative, thoughtful live shows. And, since he’s also bringing along fellow 2021 standout Vince Staples and the bafflingly intriguing Teezo Touchdown, as well as Kali Uchis, it’ll be worth catching his concerts from beginning to end.

Check out Tyler The Creator’s tour dates here. – A.W.

The War On Drugs

The War On Drugs’ latest effort, I Don’t Live Here Anymore, was one of 2021’s best albums, putting on full display the band’s power and promise as they elevate to festival and arena headlining status. Kicking off in January, the group’s hefty tour takes them through some of the most prestigious theaters in the continental United States and Europe. The routing also includes an anticipated stop at Madison Square Garden, where they will really put their lofty, emotional guitar solos to the test.

Check out The War On Drugs’ tour dates here. – Z.G.

The Weeknd

Good things come to those who wait. It’s a saying that fans of The Weeknd are certainly feeling days into 2021. The singer just released his sixth album Dawn FM, now giving his supporters not one, but two albums worth of music to see The Weeknd perform live. This summer, The Weeknd will take over stadiums all over the country for the After Hours Til Dawn world tour. It will commence after multiple attempts, many hindered by the COVID-19 pandemic, from The Weeknd to tour in support of his 2020 album After Hours. Two years after that album’s release, attendees will be able to experience what will surely be an amazing show curated by the singer himself in support of his most recent bodies of work.

Stay tuned for the full dates for the After Hours Til Dawn world tour. – W.O.

Yves Tumor

Yves Tumor Outside Lands 2021
Philip Cosores

In 2020, Yves Tumor’s fourth album Heaven To A Tortured Mind introduced the artist to a wider audience, opening the door to critical acclaim and a breakout year for the experimental musician. Tumor was able to capitalize on that buzz in 2021 with the EP The Asymptotical World, but thanks to various variants, wasn’t able to organize a full global tour behind either release until very recently when they announced a nearly 50-city world tour encompassing Europe, the UK, and United States. –

Sarah Palin Is Accusing AOC Of Wanting To Pound, Pound, Pound’ Sex Into People’s Heads

As she ratchets up what could be a run for political office, one-time vice presidential candidate Sarah Palin is getting in on one of the GOP’s greatest hits: Attacking New York City representative Alexandra Ocasio-Cortez. While appearing on Fox News on Monday night, Palin went after AOC for firing back at Republicans who made some pretty weird comments about the congresswoman’s recent trip to Florida.

“If Republicans are mad they can’t date me they can just say that instead of projecting their sexual frustrations onto my boyfriend’s feet. Ya creepy weirdos,” AOC tweeted in response to former Trump advisor Steve Cortes. “It’s starting to get old ignoring the very obvious, strange, and deranged sexual frustrations that underpin the Republican fixation on me, women,& LGBT+ people in general. These people clearly need therapy, won’t do it, and use politics as their outlet instead. It’s really weird.”

Palin did not appreciate AOC bringing sex into the conversation, but it appears the former Alaskan governor had getting busy on the brain because she used some, uh, interesting phrasing.

Via The Daily Beast:

“Look how the liberals, Rachel, want to pound that into the public’s head: advertising who is attracted to who. What people do in… the privacy of their own bedrooms,” the dismayed former vice presidential nominee said.

“All those things that have to do with privacy and sex—the liberals, not the conservatives, are the ones who pound, pound, pound after that. And obviously it’s a tactic so that she doesn’t have to be held accountable.”

Palin’s obsession with the word “pound” aside, AOC has unfortunately opened herself up to Republican criticism. On Sunday, AOC revealed that she tested positive for COVID following her trip to Miami, which is a known hot spot that coincides with Governor Ron DeSantis‘ refusal to enact COVID mitigation strategies.

The Sixers Are Reportedly Trying To Package Tobias Harris And Ben Simmons In Trade Talks

The Philadelphia 76ers have spent six months trying to find a Ben Simmons trade, but there are real questions to be asked about how they seemingly keep making life harder on themselves in trade discussions. After initially demanding a James Harden-like return of players and draft picks, the Sixers eventually seemed to settle on the need for an All-Star caliber player in return.

That is at least somewhat reasonable, but as the trade deadline looms, Daryl Morey apparently can’t help himself when it comes to upping the difficulty level of dealing Simmons. On ESPN’s The Hoop Collective podcast, Marc Spears and Brian Windhorst both said they have heard that Morey is trying to attach Tobias Harris to Ben Simmons trade talks, as Philly appears ready to move on from the disappointment of Harris’ stagnation after giving him a max deal.

Harris makes $36 million this year, with two years left beyond this season worth nearly $77 million, while Simmons makes $33 million this year, with three years left beyond this season worth north of $113 million. That’s a lot to be asking another team to take on, which Spears audibly chuckles at and the two imagine Hawks GM Travis Schlenk’s reaction to getting that call that they want Atlanta to take both players on.

They aren’t alone in thinking that attaching Harris to Simmons is a preposterous ask, as Kyle Kuzma saw the report and couldn’t help but laugh at the idea of trying to ship “$80ms” out in one package.

If this tells us anything, it’s that we probably shouldn’t expect a Ben Simmons trade by the deadline barring an unforeseen change in how Morey places value on Simmons. If he won’t settle for “potential All-Star and assets” without demanding the other team take Tobias Harris back too, then it seems a deal won’t be coming any time soon.

Ye Is Apparently Planning To Meet With Putin In Russia And Perform A ‘Sunday Service’

Ye has a lot on his plate lately between a new Netflix documentary, a collection with designer brand Balenciaga, and a budding relationship with Julia Fox. But amid the hustle, the rapper is plotting an even bigger endeavor. Apparently, Ye aims to make Russia “a second home” after an upcoming meeting with the country’s leader Vladimir Putin.

According to a report from Billboard, the rapper’s confidant and strategic advisor Ameer Sudan is arranging a meeting between Ye and Putin sometime this summer. The rapper’s goal is to perform his first-ever shows in the country, including with some of his gospel events Sunday Service, which he will invite Putin to as a special guest. But he also plans to link up with Azerbaijani-Russian billionaire real estate developer Aras Agalarov and his son Emin Agalarov for a potential working relationship. According to Billboard, the real estate mogul is oftentimes referred to as the “Trump of Russia” due to how often he puts his name on the facade of his buildings.

While Sudan didn’t disclose the nature of the business deal, he did say that Ye will be “spending a lot of time out there,” noting that the endeavor could increase Ye’s net worth to more than $10 billion. Last year, Ye’s reported net worth was $6.6 billion, so the project he’s planning to pitch to Agalarov is likely a massive undertaking.

Judy Greer Will Star Alongside Johnny Knoxville And Keegan-Michael Key In ‘Reboot’ — A Hulu Comedy Series That Spoofs Reboots

If you’re tired of seeing every old TV show that you ever watched get a reboot, whether it’s deserving of one or not, you’re not alone. Steven Levitan, creator of Just Shoot Me! and co-creator of Modern Family, is with you. And he’s planning on playing the tired trend for laughs in Reboot, an upcoming comedy series for Hulu, which will star Judy Greer, Keegan-Michael Key, and Jackass king Johnny Knoxville.

While the series was initially announced in August, Hulu just released several new details, including Greer’s starring role as Bree Marie Larson, which was originally set to be played by Leslie Bibb. According to Deadline, the cast change was the result of the writers taking “the direction of the female lead character in a different direction.” The meta comedy’s official synopsis reads as follows:

Steeped in the irony of the television industry’s continuing inclination to “reboot” hit shows from the past, the series begins when Hulu reboots an early 2000’s family sitcom, forcing its dysfunctional cast back together. Now they must deal with their unresolved issues in today’s fast-changing world.

For Levitan, who will be a writer and executive producer on the series in addition to being its showrunner, Reboot will offer a bit of catharsis. “After working 30 years in TV comedy, this is both my love letter to sitcoms and, if I’m being honest, much-needed therapy,” the nine-time Emmy winner said in a statement.

A premiere date has yet to be announced.

A Rachel Maddow Producer Accidentally Copied Madison Cawthorn’s Office On An Email Expressing Concern That He Might Want to Appear on the Show

Most of us have experienced that moment of abject terror that comes just a moment after hitting “send” on an email in which you’re talking about another person… then fearing that maybe, just maybe, you accidentally copied the person you’re talking about on said email. It’s a legitimate fear in the fast-paced world of technology, and has happened to the best of us—including one of Rachel Maddow’s producers.

On Monday, according to Mediaite, a producer on The Rachel Maddow Show was having an email dialogue with colleagues about a group of North Carolina voters who are attempting to have Madison Cawthorn disqualified from running for re-election, given his participation in the rally that prefaced the attacks on the Capitol on January 6th. The unnamed producer was worried that reaching out to Cawthorn for comment would prompt the congressman to want to appear on the show to directly defend his position—but mistakenly copied Cawthorn’s office on that email, which read:

We are kinda interested in this AP story (below) that just dropped about Rep. Madison Cawthorn. A group of voters in NC is challenging his candidacy based on his ties to the insurrection,” the producer wrote, according to the email obtained by Fox News Digital. “1. Do you or any other NBC Hill folks plan to ask him for comment on this story? 2. If not, is that something you guys could do? We don’t have a relationship with his office and between you and me are a little worried that if we did inquire he might ask to come on and explain. I know that is HIGHLY doubtful, but don’t want to take that risk. Luke Ball (?) I guess is the spox quoted?

Cawthorn, sounding an awful lot like a former president whose name rhymes with Bronald Shrump, issued a statement to Fox News in which he claimed that: “Fake news MSNBC doesn’t want to ‘take the risk’ that I’ll come on their show and trigger the left with my America First message and burst their woke dystopian bubble. The left doesn’t want debate from conservatives, they want silence. And now we have it in writing. Sad!”

The recently separated congressman, whose wife of a whopping eight months may or may not have been a Russian operative, also shared the story on Twitter, and retweeted comments from some of his fans:

Destroyer Kick Off The ‘Labyrinthitis’ Era With The Adventurous ‘Tintoretto, It’s For You’

Destroyer has been consistent with releasing new albums since the ’90s, and their latest was 2020’s Have We Met. Now, they’re getting ready to quickly follow that up with Labyrinthitis, their newly announced thirteenth LP that’s set to drop on March 25. They also shared a video for “Tintoretto, It’s For You,” an adventurous tune that packs a lot of musical ideas into three minutes.

Dan Bejar says of the video:

“I had an idea of writing a couple lines on the idea of ‘mystery’ and ‘goin nowhere,’ as they are two of my favorite themes. That and the Grim Reaper and being pursued by some silent, unnamable thing that constantly lurks one foot to the left of you. Especially as the world’s decay becomes increasingly less abstract. Also wanted to write on the romance of terror. The song ‘Tintoretto, It’s for You’ speaks to all these things, oddly enough so does the video.”

Watch the “Tintoretto, It’s For You” video above and find the Labyrinthitis art and tracklist below. In case you missed it, also check out his previously announced 2022 tour dates below.

Waxahatchee – El Deafo Soundtrack EP

Late last year, Waxahatchee (aka Katie Crutchfield) announced that she had penned a few new songs for the AppleTV+ adaptation of Cece Bell’s acclaimed 2014 graphic novel El Deafo, a process that she called in a statement “an amazing experience all around.” Now, Crutchfield’s original compositions for the series have been released by her label, Merge Records, in the form of a five-track EP. They definitely sound like Waxahatchee songs, but with an extra sense of levity that comes with composing for an animated children’s show.

Mydreamfever – Rough And Beautiful Place EP

One of the sleeper hits of 2021 was To See The Next Part Of The Dream from anonymous Korean musician Parannoul. Now, it would seem that the same personality behind that record has shared another, under a different name. Where Parannoul’s music is a driving, shoegaze-inspired indie affair, Mydreamfever’s new EP Rough And Beautiful Place is a more ambient experience, centered around enveloping piano and soundscapes.

Father John Misty – “Funny Girl”

After a lot of cryptic teasing on social media that culminated in sending unmarked spoken-word vinyl to fans, Father John Misty has officially announced his new album Chloë And The Next 20th Century and shared its lead single. “Funny Girl” is described by Adrian Spinelli for Uproxx as “chock full of the FJM whimsy, with a throwback ballroom vibe.”

The Smile – “You Will Never Work In Television Again”

While Radiohead is taking a breather, Jonny Greenwood certainly hasn’t been. He’s been a near-prolific film composer, and now has returned with a new project called The Smile, which he formed alongside Radiohead frontman Thom Yorke. The new band made their debut during a livestream back in May and they’ve now officially dropped their official debut single. “You Will Never Work In Television Again” is one of the most straightforward rock songs the members of Radiohead have made in about 20 years, with “propulsive drums [that] drive the song forward as Yorke’s musings melt over a wall of washed-out guitar riffs,” according to Carolyn Droke for Uproxx.

Gang of Youths – “In The Wake Of Your Leave”

Gang Of Youths’ anticipated new album Angel In Realtime is due next month, and the latest offering is one of the most expansive and exciting previews yet. “In The Wake Of Your Leave” is another meditative reflection on the passing of Dave Le’aupepe’s father, and features what Adrian Spinelli describes for Uproxx as “propulsive drums, beautiful strings and Le’aupepe’s forceful delivery [that] showcase the sound of a killer band that’s firing on all cylinders.”

Let’s Eat Grandma – “Happy New Year”

Two Ribbons, the new album from Let’s Eat Grandma, isn’t out until April but they haven’t been shy about giving us a taste of what to expect from the LP. “Happy New Year” is an example of the duo’s symbiotic relationship, though it was originally borne out of a lengthy rift between them that comes through fully in the song’s tension. “Luscious vocal textures give way to a jump up chorus, celebrating what it takes to make friendship work,” writes Adrian Spinelli for Uproxx.

Bonobo – “From You” (feat. Joji)

While many of Bonobo’s compositions for the forthcoming album Fragments are instrumental, there is the occasional guest spot on the tracklist. Lucky for us, Joji was able to hop on to the atmospheric track “From You,” laying down some vocal lines that add to the track’s sonic exploration. The final product is what Adrian Spinelli describes for Uproxx as “whirling number that plays into the album’s theme of yearning for a sense of normalcy amid the isolation of a global pandemic.”

Jana Horn – “Time Machine”

Jana Horn originally self-released her album Optimism back in 2018, but now the album is getting a wider release in partnership with No Quarter Records. It’s a good thing, because it gave us another opportunity to discover Horn’s beautiful, esoteric songwriting. “Time Machine” is a minimal affair, built upon a lightly strummed acoustic guitar and a single egg shaker, with some additional harmonic flourishes.

Sasami – “Say It”

Last October, Sasami announced her forthcoming genre-defying record, Squeeze, promising a range of sounds from metal to folk pop. The album’s latest offering, “Say It” has an industrial vibe to it, sounding more like Nine Inch Nails than Julien Baker. “The track opens with a basement club bang, before pulling back to let Sasami’s vocals be front and center as the flashing drum beat remains,” writes Adrian Spinelli for Uproxx.

Why Not – “Casket”

Minneapolis-based outfit Why Not, described to me by a friend as a “punk rock postal service (good sounds with the bleep bloops)” shared “Casket” earlier this week, which definitely lives up to that description. As I’ve written in the past about artists like Kississippi, it’s always exciting to hear a band like this, with roots firmly in DIY/punk, but with a vision that goes much further than the confines of the local basement scene. Keep an eye on Why Not.

Young Guv – “It’s Only Dancin”

Every new track from Young Guv’s forthcoming LP, GUV III, is equally fun and full of energy. “It’s Only Dancin” sounds like a lo-fi version of Cheap Trick and The Cars, meaning that the melodies are infectious, the choruses are massive, and there’s a great guitar solo. If you aren’t on the Young Guv train yet, you’re going to be left behind!

Some artists covered here are Warner Music artists. Uproxx is an independent subsidiary of Warner Music Group.

‘The Bob’s Burgers Movie’ Is Finally Happening, And There’s A Delightful Trailer To Prove It

South Park: Bigger, Longer, & Uncut was released during season three of South Park. The Simpsons Movie came out between seasons 18 and 19 of The Simpsons. Beavis and Butt-Head Do America waited until after season six of Beavis and Butt-Head. There’s no wrong time for a feature-length film adaptation of a TV show, which is why the time is right for The Bob’s Burgers Movie.

The Bob’s Burgers Movie was supposed to hit theaters in summer 2020, between seasons 10 and 11, but it was taken off the schedule due to an “error.” It was pushed back to April 2021 before being delayed indefinitely due to the pandemic (creator Loren Bouchard understandably did not want a streaming-only release). But after 12 seasons and over 200 episodes, The Bob’s Burgers Movie is finally happening. There’s even a plot description and trailer, complete with very sexy footage of a burger being made.

Tina saying “butt”? That’s me saying “Bob’s Burgers movie.”

Here’s the official synopsis:

The Bob’s Burgers Movie is an animated, big-screen, musical comedy-mystery-adventure based on the long-running Emmy-winning series. The story begins when a ruptured water main creates an enormous sinkhole right in front of Bob’s Burgers, blocking the entrance indefinitely and ruining the Belchers’ plans for a successful summer. While Bob and Linda struggle to keep the business afloat, the kids try to solve a mystery that could save their family’s restaurant. As the dangers mount, these underdogs help each other find hope and fight to get back behind the counter, where they belong.

The Bob’s Burgers Movie, featuring the voices of H. Jon Benjamin, Dan Mintz, Eugene Mirman, Larry Murphy, John Roberts, and Kristen Schaal, comes out on May 27.

A Boston Attorney Has Laid Out A Simple, Compelling Case For Charging Trump With Seditious Conspiracy For The Jan 6th Insurrection

Following Merrick Garland‘s press conference on the status of the investigation into the January 6 insurrection, Boston-based attorney James Doyle was struck by what he saw as an overarching theme that Garland and the Biden administration view Donald Trump as “beneath the law.” In essence, Doyle argues that Biden and Garland’s view isn’t that Trump should be protected from prosecution because of his status as a former president, but instead, that’s it’s not worth the time and energy. Doyle disagrees.

In the opening of a new op-ed, Doyle lays out a compelling case that Trump’s actions during the January 6 riot show he’s guilty of seditious conspiracy. Specifically, reports that he rebuffed pleas to stop the violence while sitting in the Oval Office watching the chaos ensue and even rewound the footage to watch over and over again.

“From Trump’s inaction we can infer—the inference is inescapable—that he meant to see the certification of the electoral vote delayed and, if possible, prevented,” Doyle writes. “After that, something might break his way. He might hold onto power.” Via The Crime Report:

Delay would at least keep his hopes alive. The federal crime of Seditious Conspiracy is set out in 18 United States Code §2384. In relevant part it states that:

If two or more persons . . . conspire . . . by force to prevent, hinder, or delay the execution of any law of the United States… they shall each be fined or imprisoned not more than 20 years, or both.

It is not a complicated law. It is not a complicated case. Donald Trump is guilty of Seditious Conspiracy.

After laying out the case that Trump is guilty, Doyle spends the rest of the op-ed challenging Garland and the Department of Justice to not let Trump skate. The Boston attorney feels the case against Trump should be presented to a grand jury to decide. “For once, his conduct should be weighed by citizens, not politicians, and in a forum where tested proof, not wild allegation and fantasy, is required.”
