Courtney Love Reveals She Almost Died In 2020

The Grammys made yesterday evening the biggest night in music, but while that was happening, one of the medium’s biggest stars, Courtney Love, shared a vulnerable post on Instagram. In it, she says that last summer, she nearly died.

She begins her post by explaining, “People, I’ve been sad, and extremely sick. Debilitated , in indescribable pain and in August at 97 pounds almost died in hospital from anemia( hemoglobin I had none ).” Love went on to note that after months of ineffective medical care for pain management, she eventually found her way to CBD oil, which she says has “removed ALMOST ALL the physical symptoms.”

She wrapped up by offering an update on her current condition, writing, “I’ve been basically bedridden . I thought I was broken for sure this time . But I’m ok ! So I’m just waking and I’m frail. I’ll be strong again soon ! Not as always because this is the period to be mellow and not waste energy on anger, etc .”

“People, I’ve been sad, and extremely sick. Debilitated , in indescribable pain and in August at 97 pounds almost died in hospital from anemia( hemoglobin I had none )

I was stigmatized for being an addict for 9 months by many ill-equipped drs, backwards drs and quacks . While in debilitating acute pain .
Then I met the most empathic wise pain management dr . I’m so grateful !

But I’m so good now . And on CBD oil . Which has removed ALMOST ALL the physical symptoms . And all the pain .

I used to scoff at cannabis / THC . And I also am no fan of the narcotic effect , hate weed feeling.

This isn’t that . It’s wo man and nature supporting us . It’s magic . But gods own CBD is a miracle.

Thank you @woodyharrelson for back in the day showing me that chipping from popular mechanics in 59? ‘the 67 uses of hemp’

You were right !

I’m still 100 percent sober by the way . Page 133 of the big book if you have questions .

Bear with me as I start to try and have a blast and help others every pain free day !!! I’ve been basically bedridden . I thought I was broken for sure this time . But I’m ok ! So I’m just waking and I’m frail. I’ll be strong again soon ! Not as always because this is the period to be mellow and not waste energy on anger, etc .
Dropping the rock as we say . A new sort of strong with wisdom and more empathy than I had for people with physical illness .

Love you.”

Here Are Your Nominees For The 93rd Annual Academy Awards

The 93rd annual Academy Awards ceremony will take place on Sunday, April 25, which would tell aliens everything they need to know if they were touching down on planet Earth out of the blue: something went very, very amiss over the past year. The movie industry has struggled over the past year, but they’re still rallying to honor the best of the best, even though very few movies have arrived in theaters since January 2020. Taylor Swift Stood Up And Clapped For Harry Styles’ Grammy Win And Fans Are Freaking Out

On her album Folklore, Taylor Swift does a lot of reminiscing, whether it’s in character or in her own voice. On one particularly lovestruck (perfect) song, “Invisible String,” she notes how much her own behavior has changed since falling in love with her now-partner, Joe Alwyn: “Cold was the steel of my axe to grind / For the boys who broke my heart / Now I send their babies presents.” Well, however short-lived the romance between Taylor Swift and Harry Styles was (1989 standout “Style” is reportedly about him), there seems to be zero, ahem, bad blood between the pair anymore.

At tonight’s Grammys, Taylor wasn’t just fake-smile happy for Harry when his cult favorite Fine Line track “Watermelon Sugar” picked up the award for Best Pop Solo Pop Performance. No, she stood all the way up and gave a standing ovation for his win and was nodding her head in approval! Even though he was besting her own track, “Cardigan,” in the category. Well that is definitely a different Taylor. Isn’t maturity a wonderful thing to possess? Or perhaps true love is what does the trick.

Either way, when fans noticed the interaction they had a wide variety of thoughts on the matter. Check out some of the best reactions below, and remember, odds are Taylor simply knew that Folklore was going to win Album Of The Year, so what did a smaller genre-specific category matter anyway? Mostly though, fans are thrilled to see this friendship has reached such a positive place. Can we get a collab now? Fine Line remixes?

The Grammy For Record Of The Year Goes To Billie Eilish, Again

As one of the big four categories, Record Of The Year is always a hotly contested race. This year, the field was very crowded with viable winners across all different genres. Contenders include the massive “Black Parade” by Beyonce, “Colors” by Black Pumas, the ever-ubiquitous 2020 hit “Rockstar” by DaBaby and featuring Roddy Ricch, “Say So” from Doja Cat, a newer track called “Everything I Wanted” by Billie Eilish, one of the early leadoff singles to her new album, Future Nostalgia, “Don’t Start Now” by Dua Lipa, “Circles” from Post Malone, and finally, “Savage” by Megan Thee Stallion. So it’s safe to say almost anyone nominated in this category would make sense as a winner.

Considering the “Savage” remix already picked up a win tonight for Best Rap Performance, making Beyonce and Megan the first two women to ever win in that category, and the Houston rapper also won Best New Artist, another victory would’ve been huge for Meg. But after HER won Song Of The Year earlier in the night for her protest song collaboration with Tiara Thomas “I Can’t Breathe,” it seemed like anyone’s game. But, Grammy favorite Billie Eilish came through in the end, picking up her second win of the night. She spent the vast majority of her speech dedicating the award to Megan Thee Stallion. But don’t worry, Billie, Megan had a great night too. Check out the full winners list here and check out Billie’s speech below.

Roddy Ricch’s Grammys Performance Of ‘The Box’ Was Literally Epic

Roddy Ricch has become well-acquainted with the Grammy Awards committee and viewers, receiving three nominations and winning one at last year’s ceremony. This year, he not only added six new nominations to his growing collection but also performed at the ceremony, delivering a sweeping rendition of his song “The Box,” prefaced by a snippet of “Heartless.” The performance was literally epic, featuring a demolished Greek god statue, with Roddy playing a grand piano and backed by a harp.

The Compton rapper has certainly had more Grammy success than his youth and relative inexperience would suggest, thanks in large part to his proximity to the late, great Nipsey Hussle. Their 2019 collaboration “Racks In The Middle” won Best Rap Performance at the 2020 Grammys, just months after he released his debut album Please Excuse Me For Being Antisocial. The song was also nominated for Best Rap Song, while Roddy’s Mustard collaboration “Ballin’” was nominated for Best Rap/Sung Performance.

This year, he’s got even more bites at the apple thanks to his two 2020 No. 1 hits. While his TikTok-favorite solo single “The Box” is up for Best Rap/Sung Performance, Best Rap Song, and Song Of The Year, Roddy’s collaboration with DaBaby, “Rockstar,” has them both anticipating potential wins for Best Rap Song, Best Rap/Sung Performance, and Record Of The Year. The duo performed the song with “Da Baby Boomers” earlier in the evening.

Beyonce Now Has More Grammy Wins Than Any Singer Ever

When the Recording Academy unveiled their list of nominations for 2021, Beyonce led the pack at nine nominations. This made her the most Grammy-nominated female artist, with 79 nods to her name. But after Sunday’s ceremony, the singer boasts an exciting victory: Beyonce officially broke the record for the most Grammy Awards given to any singer, male or female, ever.

Beyonce was awarded four 2021 Grammys, bringing her Grammy win total to 28. This means that Beyonce has the most Grammys out of any singer. She was awarded for Best Music Video for her song “Brown Skin Girl,” Best Rap Song and Best Rap Performance for her verse on Megan Thee Stallion’s “Savage (Remix),” and finally, Best R&B Performance for “Black Parade.” In her speech accepting the Best R&B Performance Grammy, Beyonce thanked all the “Black kings and queens” that inspire her artistry:

“As an artist, I believe it’s my job, and all our jobs, to reflect the times. It’s been such a difficult time, so I wanted to uplift, encourage, and celebrate all of the beautiful Black kings and queens that continue to inspire me and inspire the whole world. This is so overwhelming. I’ve been working my whole life, since I was nine years old. I can’t believe this happened, it’s such a magical night. I know my daughter is watching, Blue, congratulations. She won a Grammy tonight, I’m so proud of you and I’m so honored to be your mommy — all your mommies. Y’all are my babies.”

BTS Were An Absolute Delight Performing ‘Dynamite’ At The 2021 Grammy Awards

BTS picked up their first Grammy nomination this year, and what better way to celebrate than by performing during the show? Fans might remember that the group popped up briefly at last year’s show during Lil Nas X’s performance, but this year, they took the stage as the main attraction to perform “Dynamite”

BTS earned a nomination this year in the Best Pop Duo/Group Performance category with “Dynamite.” Had they won the award, they would have been the first South Korean group to do so, but it was revealed ahead of the broadcast that Lady Gaga and Ariana Grande’s “Rain On Me” took home to trophy.

In a Grammy.com interview published last week, the band spoke about representing South Korea in a big way at this year’s awards, with Jung Kook saying, “We’re overwhelmed to be called representatives of Korea. We’re just thankful for the support and attention that we’ve received, not only from our fans, but our peers. We will continue to work harder to showcase even better music and performances. And it’s an incredible honor to be the first Korean pop artist to be nominated for a Grammy, and we hope that this is just the beginning. A win would be significant not only for us but for many who pursue diversity in music.”

V also noted, “As the award show is approaching, the excitement and anticipation build up. I still can’t believe we’re nominated and performing. Getting a win would be even more amazing.”

Taylor Swift Wins Album Of The Year For ‘Folklore’ At The 2021 Grammys

Of all the possible awards an artist can win at the Grammys, perhaps the most sought-after is for Album Of The Year. All eyes were on the artists nominated for this year’s category, but Taylor Swift ended up taking home the 2021 Album Of The Year Grammy for her LP Folklore.

Swift’s win makes her the first female artist to ever win a Grammy for Album Of The Year three times. While Swift official won Grammy, there were several big-name musicians that were up against them for Album Of The Year. Jhené Aiko was nominated for Chilombo, Black Pumas for Black Pumas (Deluxe Edition), Coldplay for Everyday Life, Jacob Collier for Djesse Vol.3, Haim for Women In Music Pt. III, Dua Lipa for Future Nostalgia, and Post Malone for Hollywood’s Bleeding.

Of course, this year’s Album Of The Year nomination list sparked some controversies. For one, fans were shocked to see that The Weeknd had not been nominated for Album Of The Year, or any other Grammy, despite the popularity of his LP After Hours. The Weeknd’s song “Blinding Lights” even recently became the first song to spend a full year on the Billboard Hot 100 chart. The Recording Academy’s interim president/CEO Harvey Mason Jr. responded to the upset over The Weeknd’s snub, saying that there was some tough competition this year. “There were a record number of submissions in this unusual and competitive year,” he said. “We understand that The Weeknd is disappointed at not being nominated. I was surprised and can empathize with what he’s feeling. His music this year was excellent, and his contributions to the music community and broader world are worthy of everyone’s admiration.”

Doja Cat Pulled Out All The Stops For A Futuristic Grammys Performance Of ‘Say So’

Doja Cat‘s given some memorable performances of her No. 1 hit “Say So” over the past year, but when it came to “Music’s Biggest Night,” she pulled out all the stops. Doja, who’s earned a reputation for innovative and elaborate award show performances, made sure her Grammys performance would top them all as she enters the album cycle for her third full-length LP, Planet Her. Elaborate choreography, dazzling lasers, and a Janet Jackson-esque vinyl outfit defined Doja’s performance.

While “Say So” is nominated for two awards — including Best Pop Solo Performance and Record Of The Year — Doja herself is also nominated for a Best New Artist Grammy after winning the same award at the 2020 Billboard Music Awards. Ironically, she was nominated for both after dropping her second major-label album Hot Pink, which was a commercial and critical success after her debut, Amala, was mostly overlooked the year before.

Everything changed when Doja released the meme-rap, troll-baiting single “Mooo!” for fun, garnering a massive wave of attention for that first project. As more fans realized that she was a serious artist with a lot more to offer than quirky bovine puns, they tapped into her smart, genre-blending proclivities and streamed Hot Pink to the top 10 of the Billboard 200. A TikTok trend using “Say So,” a timely remix of the song featuring Nicki Minaj, and a risque promise from Doja Cat herself helped turn “Say So” into a No. 1 hit — and earn it a place on the 2021 Grammy nominations shortlist.

Lil Baby’s Fiery Grammys Performance Of ‘The Bigger Picture’ Recreates A Familiar Scene

Whether or not you believe Lil Baby was snubbed for major music awards throughout 2020, there is absolutely no denying that he’s racked up the wins where they count. Case in point, even if he doesn’t win a Grammy Award at tonight’s show, he still got a massive platform from which to perform his nominated song, “The Bigger Picture,” exposing him to thousands of potential new fans. The Atlanta trapper delivered a cinematic performance, bringing his sincere words to life with an unexpected cameo from fellow ATLien Killer Mike.

Lil Baby was nominated for both Best Rap Song and Best Rap Performance for “The Bigger Picture.” While Megan Thee Stallion took home the golden gramophone for Best Rap Performance already — incensing fans who are already convinced that Baby was snubbed for awards at all the other major shows, including the BET Hip-Hop Awards, the AMAs, and the Billboard Music Awards — Baby has already made it clear he doesn’t care much about which awards he wins or loses, so long as he gets paid.

With the increased attention that comes with performing on one of television’s most-watched nights, combined with Baby’s first Super Bowl advert earlier this year, those checks are sure to come — even if he was overlooked for the 2021 Presidential inauguration.
