Kids will be kids: 12 wild animals share totally relatable parenting woes

“Is my kid the only one who does this?” Parents find themselves pondering this question all the time. No matter how great your children are, they will sometimes do things that make you wonder how you ever thought you had the patience and energy to be a parent.

The good news is, the resounding answer is “no”—your child is most certainly not alone in whatever inexplicable thing they are doing, whether it’s throwing a tantrum over their cup being the wrong color (even though it’s the one they specifically asked for) or somehow scaling to the top of the refrigerator in the 0.3 seconds you took your eyes off them.

In fact, parents across the animal kingdom have to deal with similar behavior challenges from their offspring. Though human parenting is obviously more complex, seeing that kids are kids no matter the species can be comforting for parents who have reached their wit’s end.

How familiar are these parenting woes?

When you have to carry your toddler to where you need them to be, only to have them run away immediately

Her blank stare into the distance at the end is all too relatable. As one commenter wrote, “That’s the look of let me calm down before the ‘I brought you in this world and I can take you out’ comes into play. 😂😂”

When you’re trying to pull your toddler away from something that’s completely captured their curiosity

Mama’s like, “Come on, sweetie…nope, this way…you need to leave these nice people alone now…time to go…I know you really like it, but we have to go now…hey, I have a snack…how about some ice cream?”

When your baby is just barely walking and you want to help them, but you also know they have to slip and fall sometimes to learn

Sweet little muffin.

When it’s time to leave the playground and your kiddo 100% does not want to

100% familiar.

When you’re trying to take a nap with your child and they won’t stop fidgeting

“Just lie still and go to sleeeeeeep.”

When the teen starts getting too big for their britches and thinks they can do whatever

The look that said, “When you start paying the mortgage, you can sit wherever you want.”

When your kid hates the bath but they desperately need one

Some kids love the bath and some kids hate it. This is as true for pandas as it is for humans, apparently.

When your kid won’t stop using you as a climbing apparatus

Sometimes you’re able to help a tantruming child work through their feelings, and sometimes you need to step away before you lose your mind. It’s called balance.

Parenting is full of joys as well as challenges, and it’s nice to know we’re not alone in either. What’s interesting is how calm and patient most of these parents are in the faces of their kids’ shenanigans. Perhaps there’s a lesson there for all of us, regardless of species.

Kids asked their parents to ‘dance like it’s the 80s’ and they delivered big time

Ready to get transported back to the Decade of Decadence? Cause this wholesome new TikTok trend is gonna put you right back in the attitude-filled, neon colored post-disco era otherwise known as the 80s.

Specifically, it’s going to take you back to an 80s dance club.

In the trend, kids ask their parents to “dance like it’s the 80s,” as the 1984 track “Smalltown Boy” by the British pop band Bronski Beat plays in the background. The song’s high energy tempo mixed with heartbreaking, anguish-ridden lyrics make it a fitting choice to bring us back to the time period.

As for the parents—let’s just say that muscle memory kicks in the minute the tune begins to play, and it’s a whole vibe.

Check out Tabatha Lynn’s video of her mom, Leanne Lynn, which currently has over 8 million views.

@tabathalynnk My moms 80s dance moves, I wanna be her when I grow up 😍 our kids better not ask us this in 30 years 😂 #80s #momsoftiktok #dancemoves ♬ original sound – Tiktok / IG strategy 🚀

Leanne and Tabatha told TODAY that since going viral, the dance is now a common “topic of conversation in the family text group.”

There are two factors here that folks really seem to connect with.

One: 80s dancing was simple. Just moving to the rhythm, maybe a head bob for some flair or a robot if you’re feeling adventurous. Of course, the 80s had ambitious moves like the worm and the moonwalk, but for the most part it was just about groovin’ to beat.

@marynepi One thing about Ms. Suzanne, shes gonna slay. #fypage #dance #slay #80s #yasqueen #trending #trend ♬ original sound – Tiktok / IG strategy 🚀

Then there’s seeing the parents light up at the chance to go back to the days of their youth.

“I can literally see the young women in these women spring out in fluidity. Love this trend,” one person commented.

@lavaleritaaa Love her 😭 “Se me espeluco el moño” 😂 #80s #momdancechallenge ♬ original sound – Tiktok / IG strategy 🚀

Another seconded, “I love seeing moms remember when they were just themselves.”

Of course, dads are totally rocking this trend too. Check it out:

@chrisbrown711 I dont normally do trends but i got in on this one. How did I do? #fyp #blessed #80sdancechallenge #80smusic #80s ♬ original sound – Tiktok / IG strategy 🚀

The 80s was a time of rapid expansion for music. Much of this we have the birth of MTV to thank for, which subsequently dropped music videos, CDs and a vast array of sub genres straight into the heart of pop culture.

Plus, the 80s brought us the synthesizer, which remains a strangely satisfying sound even in 2024. So while the era might have brought some things that most of us would prefer not to revisit—like acid washed denim and awful, awful hairstyles—some of its gems are truly timeless.

The trend also shows how, even though the weekly outing to a dance hall might be a thing of the past, people inherently want to bust a move. Luckily, there’s no shortage of clubs that cater to someone’s music tastes, no matter the era.

Speaking for 00s teens everywhere…just play the Cha Cha slide and we’ll come a-runnin.

Two strangers improvise incredible dance to music they didn’t know would even be playing

Improving anything isn’t always easy and can sometimes be hilarious, which is why improv shows are so popular. Usually when someone is improvising dance moves, there’s not a partner involved and if there is, they’re generally not trained in dance. Limbs are jerking or smoothly flowing to the beat while feet and hips do their best to make coordinated motions.

But Rose City Swing dance studio, which specializes in West Coast Swing, has gone viral several times for their improvised dances. What they do is take two random dancers and pair them up, while the dancers are on the floor music starts playing. The dancers have no idea what song will be played and must come up with dance moves on the spot that coordinate with their partner.

It sounds nearly impossible but one duo that got paired together make it look easy. They dance so intuitively with each other that their video has gone viral multiple times on its own.

The video first appeared on social media in December 2023 where it had over 2.2 million views. It was posted again garnering millions more views before being posted on the Rose City Swing Instagram page where it grabbed a massive 3.6 million likes. Needless to say people love this random pairing’s dance chemistry.

Watch it now:

The dancers in the video are PJ Turner and Tashina Beckmann and they flawlessly devoured this challenge. People in the comments can’t get enough of the pair.

“Every time this pops up on my feed I watch it like 12x in a row,” one person writes.

“They’re dressed so unsuspecting and then bust out the SICKEST MOVES,” another says.

“Every time I see this, across my feed, I have to watch it again. And every time I watch it, I feel the same Joy I did the first time. Smiling throughout,” a commenter gushes.

“I’ve watched this so many times. This is how dance is supposed to be: fun. They have such an incredible ease. I want to take a class,” someone else writes.

The dance studio is in Portland, Oregon if you’re wanting to give it a try but there are no promises you’ll be this smooth with an impromptu song, dance and partner. Totally worth a shot if you’re local, if nothing else you’ll have a blast trying.

Can NBC Or Amazon Create A Suitable ‘Inside The NBA’ Replacement?

Inside The NBA TNT
Warner Bros. Discovery

While there’s still time for Warner Bros. Discovery to make a final push to nab the third piece of the NBA’s broadcast rights, much of the reporting indicates the longtime league partner will be boxed out of the latest rights deal in favor of NBC, Amazon, and ESPN.

If the league does in fact end up with two new national broadcast partners, there will be a fascinating bidding war for personalities, analysts, and broadcasters. There are no personalities bigger than the four members of Inside the NBA, and it doesn’t sound like that show will uproot en masse to a new network. Charles Barkley built an out into his new deal with TNT, but Ernie Johnson is expected to remain at the network, doing March Madness and MLB. Johnson is a devoted family man and being at home in Atlanta is particularly important to him, and no other network has its home base in the city. It’s unknown what the contractual situations are for Kenny “The Jet” Smith and Shaquille O’Neal, and even if they have a similar out to Barkley, it’s unclear if they’d want to move to another network (and potentially another city) to continue covering the league.

The only real hope of the show ending up on a new network is if it basically gets leased from Turner to another network, still shooting in the Atlanta studio with the same crew. While that makes a ton of sense to me, I have a hard time seeing another network setting aside its ego to understand the TNT crew does this better than anyone and working out a deal to keep a good thing going. As for why TNT Sports might be amenable to this kind of agreement, another network basically paying them for Inside would presumably help lessen the blow of losing the NBA.

That feels like a pipe dream, so we instead have to look at the options NBC and Amazon will have to try and replicate what TNT’s built. The first option is to try and bring Chuck, Shaq, and Kenny in with a new host. That would certainly work to a degree, as those three’s chemistry is unmatched, but that would also underestimate the importance Ernie plays in making Inside work. I’m also not sure that trio would even want to try doing it all together without him and the behind the scenes crew, the latter of which is an underappreciated piece of the puzzle.

NBC

Given the way NBC has gone about filling out its studio shows in other sports, I’d be fairly surprised if they were seriously in the mix for Barkley or Shaq given their cost. NBC’s biggest property is Sunday Night Football, and they have mostly opted not to bid for the biggest stars that enter media free agency for their studio shows — the one time they did ended up being a disaster with Drew Brees.

The same can be said about their Big Ten and Notre Dame coverage, and I think the way they’ve approached those can give us an idea of what they’ll do with the NBA. Maria Taylor hosts both shows, with Sunday nights featuring longtime analysts Tony Dungy and Rodney Harrison on site, while Chris Simms, Devin McCourty, and Jason Garrett are in studio. Saturday’s studio team is Taylor, Matt Cassel, Michael Robinson, and Joshua Perry. While both crews are good at what they do, the overall tone of those shows is far different from Inside, as they’re much more rigid about providing analysis over letting big, dynamic personalities drive the show.

On the studio side, I’d expect them to look for mostly younger ex-players on their studio desk, with perhaps one experienced TV analyst on their radar (say, Kenny Smith), and hope to catch a little lightning in a bottle. If not, they won’t have broken the bank further after spending fairly extravagantly to get rights. Given network constraints, I doubt they’ll look to pay top dollar for what will amount to a pregame/halftime show on the main network and possibly a postgame show on Peacock, as NBC proper will move onto other network programming, much like ABC games do — after NFL games, they do a very quick postgame show before moving on to the local news. While they do have a 30-minute postgame show for their Premier League broadcasts, it’s much easier to have one of those when you’re looking to put something on the air on an afternoon where you need to fill the time and far more difficult to do when you have to worry about, say, letting the local news get on the air before Saturday Night Live.

That said, I would expect them to be in the hunt for a top broadcast booth like Kevin Harlan and Reggie Miller, as they’ve traditionally been more willing to spend in that area over studio analysts. They’ve paid big money to bring in top voices for the Premier League, while they made sure they had Mike Tirico in waiting for when Al Michaels left (ultimately jumping to Amazon) and paired him with Cris Collinsworth for Sunday Night Football. Their top Big Ten booth features a lesser-heralded but well-regarded play-by-play man in Noah Eagle, while Todd Blackledge is a veteran broadcaster who was at ESPN for years.

Amazon

Amazon is the network that has the money and space to try and replicate Inside in some form or fashion. I would presume Amazon is the heavy favorite to land Barkley (and Shaq, if he’s interested) in the expected new broadcast landscape for a couple of reasons. For one, the schedule would be essentially the same as what they already have if they end up with the expected Thursday night NBA package, and my guess is Barkley will not be looking to add more nights to his schedule. On top of that, they have more reason to want to build a strong studio show than NBC. Unlike a network, which flips to new programming, Amazon looks at sports as a way to bring people to the app and try to keep them there with continued coverage in studio/on-site, similar to TNT. ESPN certainly could make that decision, but has chosen instead to send it to Scott Van Pelt’s SportsCenter after the game, while a network like NBC has local news and other programming constraints.

So much of the magic of TNT’s studio coverage is giving their personalities time to be themselves and go on tangents beyond the rigidity of a rundown. Whether pregame, halftime, or postgame, the reason ESPN has never been able to touch TNT’s studio show is in part because they don’t give their people time because they’re all just trying to hit their marks before the next commercial break. The other part is they don’t have Charles Barkley, but even he couldn’t be the Chuckster if he was given just 60 seconds to talk. He already regularly eats into his colleague’s time with as much space TNT provides — usually to the chagrin of Shaq — and I can’t imagine him being nearly as successful with even tighter time constraints.

While NBC likely can’t offer that kind of space due to the other things it has to put on the air, Amazon has shown it can and will get out of the way and embrace the personalities on the desk. The entire thought behind their Thursday Night Football postgame, TNF Nightcap, was to create football’s version of a late night show. That is a vibe Inside has perfected, and the way they’ve handled Nightcap gives me at least a little hope that they can create a space that is similar, even if with a different cast.

I don’t think it’s reasonable to expect any new show to fully live up to that standard (or longevity), but there are lessons to take away from their success beyond simply the personalities on the desk. Inside became the show it is because of an incredible collection of talent, both in front of the camera and behind the scenes — if I were Amazon or NBC, I’d be looking to bring as many of the behind the scenes people from TNT’s NBA crew over as possible, whether they’re part of their studio show or their broadcasts of games. The continuity and camaraderie between the on-air cast and the production team is exceedingly rare, they are in lockstep with what they want the show to be, and are given free rein to make the show they want by the network bosses.

The only way to replicate that is to provide them with space to be themselves, figure out how to play to each other’s strengths, and build that genuine chemistry. Anyone that remembers the early years of Shaq’s time at TNT knows it doesn’t happen immediately, as Shaq tried to one-up Chuck and force bits into the show. Eventually, he realized his place on that desk and is the best at winding Chuck up to deliver his most iconic rants. Whatever the new studio crews look like, whether they pair some of the Inside crew together or not, they’ll need some time to find that rhythm. If we’re lucky, that right group will eventually come together and give us another decade-long run.

How Many Episodes Are In ‘Bridgerton’ Season 3?

bridgerton-s3-3
Liam Daniel/Netflix

Tighten your corsets because Bridgerton will soon be back with a new courtship story to make viewers swoon throughout an ultimately predictable set of events that still end up being charming as hell. Of course, this season will also bring furniture-destroying sex scenes because this show is obliged to get randy at every appropriate turn. Let’s talk about how much of this season you should soon expect to see.

How Many Episodes Are In ‘Bridgerton’ Season 3?

Netflix has deemed this series worthy of the split-season treatment. So even though a total of eight episodes will eventually materialize in this season, only four will release on May 16. The back half of the season will debut on June 13.

That might sound discouraging for those who want to binge an entire season with abandon, but there’s some good news, too: Netflix has already greenlit a fourth season. Sure, that might also be offered in halves as well, but that’s the way that the streaming tide is flowing these days. Also, it’s highly likely that the 2023 Hollywood strikes contributed to a backlog in production, and Netflix decided to release a half season rather than wait until June 13 to serve the whole package. (There’s a bright side to everything and also a salty side. Just ask Lady Whistledown.)

Golden Retriever learns to play piano like a pro, thanks to dad’s amazing editing skills

If you’re not following Jonathan Lower and his golden retriever Teddy on their @aguyandagolden TikTok channel, you’re missing out on some grade A wholesome entertainment.

According to an interview with Fox, Lower noticed that audiences were more interested in videos of Teddy than his regular videos home improvement projects. So Lower gave the people what they wanted—extremely well edited skits, all with Teddy as the star. And now, they are both full-time content creators.

To give you a taste of what they do, Lower recently posted a video of Teddy revealing some pretty impressive piano playing skills.

In the clip, Lower drops Teddy off at grandma’s for the day, where Teddy is so moved by grandma’s piano rendition of “Beauty and The Beast” that he sheds a single tear.

As soon as grandma leaves, Teddy begins tinkering at the keys, and even pulls up a Youtube tutorial for piano playing. Teddy’s hard work pays off too, because by the time Lower gets back, he’s able to play “Colors of the Wind” like it’s nothing!

Watch:

@aguyandagolden My dog learned how to play the piano! #dog #goldenretriever #dogsoftiktok ♬ original sound – AGuyandAGolden

That wide shot at the end is particularly cool. It really does look like Teddy has turned into Beethoven. The composer, not the movie dog.

Needless to say, people were blown away by Teddy’s talent.

“Johan Sebastian Bark,” one person commented.

Another wrote, “Wow Teddy is a fast learner. When is he going on tour?”

Another just commended Teddy’s acting chops, saying he “should have his own movie.” We are past due for another movie series starring a gifted dog.

Of course, Teddy might be too busy to film, as he’s already taken on other jobs, including electrician, caped crime fighter and “dogtor.” On the bright side, Lower told Fox that they still have plenty of skit ideas to bring to life.

“I have a notebook at home with about 500 to 600 video ideas,” he said. “A lot of them are ambitious and they might take a little bit of time to come to fruition but we think of a lot of short hitting ones and easy ones that we can do now and we knock those out.”

To not miss any of those videos, be sure to follow Lower and Teddy on TikTok.

Aubrey Plaza Had Fun Bugging Her ‘Megalopolis’ Co-Star Adam Driver While Dressed As Her Marvel Character

Aubrey Plaza Megalopolis
American Zoetrope

It’s not uncommon for actors to film two things at once, just like how Anya Taylor-Joy found the time to pop over to the Dune: Part Two set while filming Furiosa, but Aubrey Plaza likes to push the envelope a bit.

Plaza has two big projects on the horizon: one being Marvel’s ever-changing Agatha alongside Kathryn Hahn and the other being Francis Ford Coppola’s ambitious passion project, Megalopolis.

In the epic, she plays a journalist named Wow Platinum (even though it sounds like a new credit card startup brand). Plaza revealed to Deadline that she had to pull double duty in order to keep to her strict shooting schedule, though she had some fun with it.

“I would literally go from one to the other and would put my Wow wig on and my Wow costume on. And then the next day, I would go to the Agatha set and I’d be dressed as a warrior witch with a dagger and stuff,” Plaza told Deadline.

Plaza added that she would even bug her co-stars Adam Driver and Giancarlo Esposito, who are famously two nice guys that don’t deserve it. “At one point, when I was dressed in the Marvel character, I snuck onto the Megalopolis set and I started harassing Giancarlo Esposito and Adam and everyone. It was absolutely insane behavior.” Just imagine if Driver had pulled up to the set of Marriage Story while dressed Kylo Ren? That would be inexcusable behavior.

The only thing more wild than that is seeing Plaza without her signature dark hair. For the film, she had to go bleach blonde, “Which is very funny because I’m a dark brown-haired girl,” Plaza added. “But yes, I bleached my hair blonde for Francis and Milena. For anybody else, never again. But for them, I did it.” And yet, if John Waters asked her to dye her hair, she probably would.

Gunna Is An International Player In His ‘Whatsapp (Wassam)’ Video

In the video for his One Of Wun single “Whatsapp (Wassam),” Gunna makes international moves via video call as he jetsets all over, staying in contact with his friends, fans, and business partners all along. It seems that despite his misfortunes and setbacks in recent years, the message is that he’s still on top of his game and unstoppable as long as his contact list is full of people who pick up at a moment’s notice.
