All The Best New Music From This Week That You Need To Hear

Keeping up with new music can be exhausting, even impossible. From the weekly album releases to standalone singles dropping on a daily basis, the amount of music is so vast it’s easy for something to slip through the cracks. Even following along with the Uproxx recommendations on a daily basis can be a lot to ask, so every Monday we’re offering up this rundown of the best new music this week.

This week saw Ed Sheeran drop what’s sure to be another hit album and King Princess unveil an anticipated LP of her own. Yeah, it was a great week for new music. Check out the highlights below.

For more music recommendations, check out our Listen To This section, as well as our Indie Mixtape newsletter.

Ed Sheeran — “Camera”

Alongside the release of his new album Play, he shared a video for the touching single “Camera.” The original version featured moments of Sheeran with his wife, but he decided to keep those moments as theirs and instead re-shoot them with Bridgerton‘s Phoebe Dynevor.

King Princess — “Say What You Will” Feat. Joe Talbot

Mikaela Straus has been busy on the show Nine Perfect Strangers lately, but she also found time to drop a new King Princess album, Girl Violence, last week. The project is mostly just Straus on her own, but she does have a feature from Idles’ Joe Talbot on “Say What You Will.”

Gorillaz — “The Happy Dictator” Feat. Sparks

Earlier this month, at a mysterious concert, Gorillaz went ahead and debuted an entire new album. Now, they’ve officially announced the project, dubbed The Mountain, and shared the synthy Sparks-featuring single “The Happy Dictator.”

Militarie Gun — “Throw Me Away”

2023’s Life Under The Gun took Militarie Gun to a new level and now they’re prepping their sophomore release, God Save The Gun. They continued to tease it last week with the catchy and melodic rocker “Throw Me Away.”

Sudan Archives — “Come And Find You”

Following her 2022 album Natural Brown Prom Queen, Sudan Archives is preparing to release her third LP, The BPM. She continues to explore new sonic frontiers with the project, like a blend of Afropop, electronic, and jazz music on “Come And Find You.”

Kali Uchis and Ravyn Lenae — “Cry About It!”

Uchis’ album from earlier this year, Sincerely,, is getting a deluxe edition, Uchis revealed last week. The first listen at Sincerely: P.S., as it’s called, is the decidedly doo-wop inspired “Cry About It!” alongside Ravyn Lenae.

Djo — “Mr. Mountebank”

We got The Crux from Djo (Joe Keery) earlier this year, but recently, he already started teasing new music. It turns out he had The Crux Deluxe ready to go and it’s out now. Despite the title, it’s less of a deluxe reissue and more of a new album, as it features 12 fresh tracks.

TiaCorine — “Backyard” Feat. JID

TiaCorine and JID are two of rap’s most exciting rising stars at the moment, so them linking up last week was a treat. TiaCorine’s upcoming album Corinian includes the menacing JID collab “Backyard.”

Rapsody and Madlib — “Daddy’s Girl”

Rapsody had one of 2024’s best rap albums with Please Don’t Cry, and last week, she teamed up with Madlib for a cool contribution here in 2025. The EP is called MadRaps and it’s a quick listen, featuring just two jazzy tracks: “Daddy’s Girl” and “Avon Thru The Wire.”

Drake — “Dog House” Feat. Julia Wolf and Yeat

On a livestream earlier this month, Drake dropped some previews of new music, including a collaboration with Yeat. Well, that song is out now: “Dog House,” which also features Julia Wolf on the gentler intro, leading into Drake’s more high-energy verse.

‘The Lowdown’: Everything To Know About ‘Reservation Dogs’ Creator Sterlin Harjo’s New Series With Ethan Hawke

The Lowdown top
YouTube

Filmmaker Sterlin Harjo had a widely acclaimed hit on his hands with Reservation Dogs, which ran for three seasons on FX from 2021 to 2023. Then, he set his sights on The Sensitive Kind, which is set to premiere soon, also on FX, and which has since been renamed to The Lowdown.

While Reservation Dogs was led by a cast of actors who were previously relatively unknown, The Lowdown has some star power with Ethan Hawke in the lead role. The strong cast is rounded out by Tim Blake Nelson, Kyle MacLachlan, Keith David, and others.

Ahead of the show’s release, keep reading for everything you need to know before it arrives.

Plot

The logline reads, “FX’s The Lowdown from Creator Sterlin Harjo and starring Executive Producer Ethan Hawke, follows the gritty exploits of citizen journalist ‘Lee Raybon’ (Hawke), a self-proclaimed Tulsa ‘truthstorian’ whose obsession with the truth is always getting him into trouble. When the publication of Lee’s latest exposé — a deep dive into the powerful Washberg family – is immediately followed by the suspicious suicide of ‘Dale Washberg’ (Tim Blake Nelson), Lee knows he’s stumbled onto something big.”

told the Los Angeles Times, “Rez Dogs was my love letter to rural Oklahoma and where I grew up. The Lowdown is my love letter to Tulsa, where I currently live. You see the beauty and the darkness. You see everything.”

He added, “There’s the art of the hang, where the genre is people hanging out. Look at Rez Dogs or Dazed And Confused. There’s an art to hanging and being with characters, and it feels OK to just sit there with them. I think The Lowdown has a good balance of that, where you could just hang with [Raybon] on his block. But there’s also this unfolding story so things never get boring.”

Cast

The show stars Ethan Hawke, Ryan Kiera Armstrong, Kaniehtiio Horn, Tim Blake Nelson, Jeanne Tripplehorn, Kyle MacLachlan, Keith David, Killer Mike, and Graham Greene.

Greene died earlier this month, after filming the season, at 73 years old. Hawke paid tribute to him on Instagram, writing:

“I had the pleasure of working with Graham Greene earlier this year. His career is legendary: Dances with Wolves, Thunder Heart, Reservation Dogs, to name a few. He has always possessed extraordinary grace, wisdom, wit, & depth.

Working with him was shockingly fun. He improvised brilliantly and infused every moment with spontaneity & humor. I even got to break bread with him- and share some fries.
I am shocked to hear of his passing. Blessed travels, friend.”

Release Date

The first two episodes are set to debut on Tuesday, September 23 at 9 p.m. ET/PT on FX. The season has eight episodes and new ones will debut on Tuesdays at the same time. Episodes will stream on Hulu the next day.

Fred Again.. Performed Live From An Italian Fan’s Roof And Shared The Full Video

Fred Again.. just gave a fan an unforgettable moment. Fred performed in Naples, Italy this past weekend, and immediately after the show, he put on another show, on the fan’s rooftop, which overlooks the venue of the first concert.

Fred shared the full rooftop performance on YouTube yesterday (September 14), too. It starts with the end of the first concert, after which Fred rushes, literally runs, to the fan’s building. There, they meet as Fred makes his way to the rooftop and puts on another performance as the crowd on the ground behind him clears out.

Fred explained the situation in the video description, writing:

“After a show i never quite know what to do. like you go from being filled with the most adreneline ever, to suddenly being like alone or basically alone. Often I just play songs im working on and jam on my keyboard to try ideas out to try n calm down and stuff, cos i cant really be social often.

So when i saw fedde commenting on a post that he had a rooftop that overlooked the show i thought wow this could be like my dream afters. Just going straight up there and get to play songs on my ones and still get to see and feel the energy of the show as everyone leaves!

I played this whole set just to fedde and the beautiful nonna who also lives in this building. It was a lovely sight to look up occasionally and see them both there. Him dancing her sitting. Me a bit of both.

thankyou to Fede.”

Cardi B’s Daughter Kulture Trolled Her Latest Effort To Promote ‘Am I The Drama?’

With her long-awaited second studio album Am I The Drama? coming this Friday, September 19, Cardi B has stepped up her efforts to promote it in the wake of the video for “Imaginary Playerz.” Many of these efforts, like pitching multiple album covers based on her viral courtroom appearances and going on an in-store signing tour, have been well-received by most, but garnered one really important critic: Cardi’s daughter, Kulture.

The now-seven-year-old couldn’t help but troll her mom in her latest social video plugging the album. While on a livestream talking about the album’s impending release in her car, Cardi was put off when Kulture chimed in from the backseat, “Oh, don’t get her album,” with a chuckle. “What you mean don’t get my album, girl?” Cardi replied. “Then you ain’t gonna be able to buy sh*t. We’re gonna live in the hood!”

She then listed all the luxuries her kids enjoy, promising they would all go out the window if the album flopped. “No more Roblox coin, no more Apple, no more Target… you gonna be eating rice and beans every g*d damn day!” Returning her attention to the fans on the stream, Cardi ended the hilarious clip with a promise to announce “something every day until my album.” So, look forward to that, and if you’re Team Cardi over Team Kulture here, you can find out more about Am I The Drama? here.

Benny Blanco Followed The Emmys By Giving Selena Gomez A Sweet Surprise

Only Murders In The Building didn’t win either of the two Emmys for which it was nominated this past weekend, but Selena Gomez still had a great time, especially after the ceremony.

After the Emmys, Gomez shared a photo gallery on Instagram, capturing the post, “Grateful for all these people forever and always. Came home to a surprise my baby put together.” Included are photos of her enjoying time with Only Murders In The Building co-stars Steve Martin and Martin Short, as well as with fiancé Benny Blanco. There’s also a photo and a video of a swimming pool surrounded by dozens of lit candles. Gomez poses in front of the scene in a “ruched gray Louis Vuitton gown,” as People notes.

Blanco commented on the post, “i win an award every night (you).”

Meanwhile, Gomez recently explained how she and Blanco started dating while working on the 2023 song “Single Soon,” saying, “We spoke for two hours and I asked him to hook me up with anybody that he knew that was cute, and he was like, ‘Oh, we do these things, like, dinner nights. You should come.’ And next thing you know, we’re dating. But, he was terrified in the beginning ’cause he was like, ‘It’s work and it’s complicated and people are going to get mad,’ and I’m like, ‘I don’t give a sh*t, kiss me.’”

SNX: This Week’s Best Sneaker Drops, Featuring The Jordan 5 Fire Red, Noel Gallagher-Themed Adidas And More!

SNX_sep_12(710X400) (1)
Uproxx/Adidas/Nike

Welcome to SNX DLX, your weekly roundup of the best sneakers to hit the internet. This week we have a jam-packed list of dope drops aimed squarely at Nike die-hards. I mean, sure, the other brands are represented; we’re getting treated to a dope Oasis-themed Adidas SPZL, and the return of the Jabbar Lo. But outside of those two Adidas drops, the week belongs to Nike, and what a week it is!

New Dunks, Air Force 1s, a Yu-Gi-Oh-themed Air Max 95 (random, but dope) — it’s a real week of greatest hits from Nike, but the one release that is dropping with the most hype is without a doubt the return of the Jordan 5 Fire Red Black Tongue. We don’t blame you if all of your attention (and hope) is pointed squarely at that one release, but if you aren’t lucky enough to cop a pair, don’t worry, there are a lot of great alternatives out there this week.

Let’s dive into the best sneakers dropping this week.

Adidas NG Marathon SPZL Night Navy

Adidas

Price: $130

Is there a ‘90s Brit Pop star that embodies the look of the Adidas SPZL more than Oasis’ Noel Gallagher (you shut your mouth Blur fans)? We don’t think so, so when we found out Gallagher was linking up with Adidas for a new take on the SPZL, we were all-in before we ever saw the sneaker.

Thankfully, the results look great. This is a simple design featuring a leather and textile upper, synthetic lining, a midnight blue colorway, and Noel Gallagher portrait branding on the tongue. Nothing about this sneaker looks out of place, and that’s a testament to how right this collaboration feels.

The Adidas NG Marathon SPZL Night Navy is out now for a retail price of $130. Pick up a pair via the Adidas CONFIRMED app.

Nike Women’s Air Jordan 1 High OG Baroque Brown and Sail

Nike

Price: $185

There are a few select colors that just look right with the Jordan 1 design, and one of those colors is brown, which is why this women’s exclusive Jordan 1 is a must cop. Featuring a white leather upper with rich brown overlays, a padded collar, and woven tongue logos, this Jordan 1 is oozing autumnal vibes.

But just because this sneaker looks tailor-made for the fall doesn’t mean it can’t work in every season. At the end of the day, it’s just a fantastic colorway of one of the greatest sneakers of all time. You can’t lose there.

The Nike Women’s Air Jordan 1 High OG Baroque Brown and Sail is out now for a retail price of $185. Pick up a pair via the Nike SNKRS app.

Nike Air Force 1 White and University Blue

Nike

Price; $130

Squeaky clean and ultra fresh — that’s how we’d best describe this muted UNC take on the AF-1. This sneaker sports a white leather upper with icy translucent panels, a blue-tinted outsole, and laser-engraved logos for a futuristic take on this classic design.

It gently nudges the AF-1 into the future, and for that alone, we’re digging it.

The Nike Air Force 1 White and University Blue is out now for a retail price of $130. Pick up a pair via the Nike SNKRS app.

Nike Dunk Low Black and Pink Rise

Nike

Price: $135

The Dunk Low Black and Pink Rise takes the same futuristic semi-translucent build as the aforementioned AF-1 and applies it to the Dunk. But where the former design was fresh and futuristic, this Dunk feels a lot moodier, with the white leather being swapped for Black contrasted with pink translucent details and a padded collar.

The Nike Dunk Low Black and Pink Rise is out now for a retail price of $135. Pick up a pair via the Nike SNKRS app.

Nike Air Max 95 Court Purple and Wild Grape

Nike

Price: $200

Nike is dropping two alt camo-influenced colorways of the Air Max 95 but we’re going to shout out just one of them — the Court Purple and Wild Grape. This sneaker sports a lightweight synthetic leather upper with mesh details, and ripples adorned with a swirling black, purple, and grape camo print with contrasting silver accents.

The Nike Air Max 95 Court Purple and Wild Grape is out now for a retail price of $200. Pick up a pair via the Nike SNKRS app.

Nike Air Max 95 QS TGO (Joey)

Nike

Price: $210

You might be scratching your head as to why the early ‘00s anime Yu-Gi-Oh is getting a themed Air Max 95 and, well we don’t have a good answer for you. 2025 apparently marks the release of the World Championship 2025 rules and events for the Yu-Gi-Oh card game, but we’re going to be honest, we don’t know what that really means, why we should care, or what it has to do with shoes, but hey this pair looks pretty good, so who are we to complain?

Inspired by and named after the character Joey, this Air Max 95 sports a leather upper, scuffed detailing, and a monochromatic blue colorway with neon green accents inspired by Joey’s fit.

The Nike Air Max QS YGO is out now for a retail price of $210. Pick up a pair via the Nike SNKRS app.

Adidas Jabbar Lo Bruce Lee

Adidas

Price: $110

First introduced in 1978, the Adidas Jabbar Lo is the first signature basketball sneaker ever. For that alone, its return is exciting, and Adidas is going all out by dropping seven different colorways of this legendary sneaker. But the best colorway — and the most iconic — is this special colorway that takes inspiration from the friendship of Kareem Abdul-Jabbar and Bruce Lee (a dream blunt rotation if we’ve ever heard one).

The sneaker sports a suede and leather upper with a sockliner portrait of the two pals with a special commemorative box and a colorway inspired by Lee’s famous Game of Death fit.

The Adidas Jabbar Lo Bruce Lee is set to drop on September 13th at 7:00 AM PST for a retail price of $110. Pick up a pair via the Adidas CONFIRMED app.

Nike Air Jordan 5 Fire Red ‘Black Tongue’

Nike

Price: $215

Originally released 35 years ago, the Fire Red Jordan 5 is one of the greatest colorways of one of the greatest sneakers of all time. Need we say more about this one? It’s classic leather build, that iconic icy outsole, the pops of red and black — it’s a damn work of art. The sort of sneaker that belongs under glass in a museum of sneakers.

Having said that, if you’re lucky enough to cop a pair, wear them until they fall apart! Good shoes like this deserve to be seen on the streets.

The Nike Air Jordan 5 Fire Red Black Tongue is set to drop on September 13th at 7:00 AM PST for a retail price of $215. Pick up a pair via the Nike SNKRS app.

Same Same But Different Is The Perfect Music Festival To Close Out Summer – Here Is Why You Need To Be There

3_Festival Preview_Editioral Banners Images_1024x450
SSBD

Pack that sunscreen, your favorite swimsuit, a bubble shooter and your preferred flotation device, because Lake Perris California’s Same Same But Different is back, and this time it promises to be more than just another weekend of electronic beats and drops (but it’s going to be that too, so bring those dancing shoes). This year, SSBD is going full sensory overload with a chest-rattling lineup sound tracking a lakeside bash that is one part community, one part chaos, and a whole lot of fun.

This year’s headliners include the LSDREAM and CloZee super duo, LSZEE, as well as Zeds Dead, Dr. Fresch, Coco & Breezy, and takeovers by Bass N Babes, Good Society, Odyzey, and more — and that’s really just scratching the surface. The full lineup is a bouquet of electronic artists, all delivering high-energy drops and world-class bass music with a sunrise set by CloZee.

Same Same But Different

But SSDB is about more than music — explore the festival grounds to experience arts and crafts classes, multiple forms of yoga sessions (including stand-up paddle board style because this is SSDB after all), or brush up on your moves at one of the festival’s many dance programs. SSDB is a playground of wellness, art, community and above all else — music.

SSDB is simply one of the finest experiential festivals happening this year — you’re bound to come away from this one with memories you’ll never forget and a few new skills to impress your friends.

The festival will come to Lake Perris, California, from September 26th to 28th. Buy tickets here, and if you’re still not convinced, these photos from prior years will help you imagine what sort of fun (and good trouble) you can get yourself into.
