Stephen Colbert Was Surprised To Learn We’ve Been Pronouncing Travis Kelce’s Name Wrong This Whole Time

Travis Kelce is a Hall of Fame-bound tight end for the Kansas City Chiefs who is one game away from being in the Super Bowl for the fourth time in five seasons. He’s also the world’s most famous boyfriend. But despite his fame (and the 7,000 commercials he appears in), it turns out everyone has been mispronouncing his last name.

“We all love Kansas City Chiefs tight end and glazed pork shoulder just about ready to come out of the slow cooker, Travis Kelce,” host Stephen Colbert said during Tuesday’s episode of The Late Show. “But apparently we’ve all been pronouncing his name wrong the whole time. We’ve all been saying ‘Kel-see’ when it’s actually pronounced Chalamet.” Colbert was just “joshing,” but the last name thing is real, as pointed out by E! Online.

NFL defensive tackle Chris Jones brought up an important fact about his Kansas City Chiefs teammate — who, you may have heard, is dating Taylor Swift — while on the sidelines of their game against the Miami Dolphins on Jan. 13. Jones turned to two other Chiefs players during the Saturday night game and said, “So y’all know it’s not even Travis Kel-see?” as seen in the Inside the NFL clip.

One of those players did not know, asking, “What is it?”

“It’s Travis Kels,” Jones responded. “F*cking crazy, right?”

Colbert thinks “changing the pronunciation of your last name is the most pretentious thing I’ve ever heard, or my name isn’t Stephen Cole-bert, which it’s not and it never has been” (it has).

Liam Gallagher Somehow Insists Dua Lipa Is ‘Jealous’ After She Called Out Britpop Artists For Being ‘Obnoxious’

It appears there’s perhaps a bit of beef brewing, between Dua Lipa and beef expert Liam Gallagher.

A recent Rolling Stone feature notes that Oasis and Blur are among the influences behind Lipa’s upcoming album before continuing:

“I mention that some of those Brit-pop influences — Noel Gallagher and Damon Albarn in particular — haven’t always been very kind to female pop artists (both have taken shots at the likes of Adele and Taylor Swift, for example). I ask her if she’s ever met any of them.

‘I haven’t had any encounters with them, actually,’ she says. ‘Sometimes you have to separate the art from the person.… It’s more like the music element, the aspect of it that I’m really connected to. The way that [some Brit-pop artists] acted, the things that they’ve done, they’re obnoxious for sure. That’s their whole thing.’”

Gallagher, meanwhile, frequently takes time to chat with fans on X (formerly Twitter), and on January 22, one person asked what he thought about Lipa’s comments, particularly the “obnoxious” part. He responded, “She’s just jealous.”

That reply by itself might not seem rooted in reality considering Lipa is currently one of the biggest stars in the world, while bands like Oasis and Blur, who certainly had their time in the sun, aren’t exactly dominating the music landscape today like they once did.

Another user responded, though, “Come off it, Dua Lipa’s one of the biggest pop stars on the planet – she’s not jealous of you and she has a fair point Liam. You and Noel were utterly obnoxious in the ’90s and ’00s, and many other men in Britpop bands were misogynistic pricks.” Gallagher replied, “She’s jealous we can swear and tell people to f*ck off and she can’t.”

André 3000 Had A Hilarious ‘Pause’ Moment While Discussing His Flute Holes On ‘Colbert’

For the most part, André 3000 has largely stayed out of the public eye since the end of Outkast. He resurfaced in a major way last year, though, with New Blue Sun, his first-ever solo album. He also just announced a tour in support of the project, an album consisting of lengthy, flute-driven instrumentals. André popped up on The Late Show last night, and while the conversation was mostly serious in tone, he did have one particularly funny moment.

Towards the end of the first segment, Stephen Colbert asked if André ever plays more than one flute at the same time. He said no and mentioned another flautist who does, declaring he hasn’t “gotten to that level.” Then, showing off the two-chambered flute he was holding, he continued, “I’m still trying to manage… like, I have two holes, you know, so it’s like…”

André noticed Colbert cracking a subtle smile at “I have two holes,” so he hit the host with, “Pause,” which got a big laugh from Colbert, the studio audience, and himself.

After the interview, André also delivered a ten-minute performance of “That Night In Hawaii When I Turned Into A Panther And Started Making These Low Register Purring Tones That I Couldn’t Control … Sh*t Was Wild.” Check out clips of the interview and performance above and below.

It Is Unclear If Doc Rivers Has Been Hired As The Head Coach Of The Bucks

Everyone in the basketball world seems to be waiting for the Milwaukee Bucks to officially hire Doc Rivers. After firing Adrian Griffin 43 games into his stint with the team, reports immediately began to pop up indicating Rivers is the frontrunner to fill the vacancy.

Whether or not Rivers actually gets the job remains to be seen, but in a pretty strange turn of events on Tuesday, TNT’s NBA studio show broke the news that the deal is done. Citing CNN Sports, TNT’s Adam Lefkoe told viewers that Rivers accepted the role in Milwaukee.

It was a curious report for a few reasons. The obvious one, of course, is that CNN Sports isn’t exactly considered a place to get breaking news, but the much weirder thing is that none of the usual NBA insider had this one. That included Chris Haynes of Bleacher Report, who was one of the first to have the news of Griffin’s ouster and is TNT’s go-to NBA insider. (Bleacher Report, CNN, NBA TV, and TNT all exist under the Warner Brothers Discovery umbrella, and Haynes was part of TNT’s NBA coverage on Tuesday evening.)

This isn’t to say that scooping bigger names is impossible, it’s just not especially common. Add in that there was nothing on the CNN Sports website or Twitter account and something seemed amiss here. And then, Bill Reiter of CBS Sports brought word that the report was false, and a whole lot a red flags started to pop up.

Despite that, CNN stated that the report went through its usual editorial process, which made them comfortable running with the news.

In the aftermath of the game between the Los Angeles Clippers and the Los Angeles Lakers that featured Haynes as the sideline reporter, Lefkoe continued to talk on TNT about the deal like it was done, even as Jamal Crawford appeared to express a little skepticism.

Not long after this, we got our weirdest twist of this whole saga: Haynes — who, again, is usually the person TNT goes to for these sorts of things — just flat out refuted the report from CNN, saying that there’s no deal in place as of now.

It’s again worth mentioning that Rivers, a currently in-game analyst for ESPN, appears to be the clear frontrunner here, in part because the Bucks front office had him serve as an “informal consultant” to Griffin earlier in the year. We’ll keep you updated on this one.

Report: The Blazers Will File A Protest Over The End Of Their Loss To The Thunder

chauncey billups
Twitter

The Oklahoma City Thunder were able to survive a scare by the Portland Trail Blazers on Wednesday night, although it did not come without some controversy. With Portland up by one and less than 20 seconds on the clock, Malcolm Brogdon got trapped near midcourt, picked up his dribble, restarted it, and got hit with a double-dribble.

The problem, according to the Blazers, is that Chauncey Billups was attempting to call a timeout that just wasn’t given. In the aftermath of the double-dribble, Billups was unsurprisingly upset, which led to him getting hit with a pair of technical fouls that ended his night a little early. Shai Gilgeous-Alexander hit the free throw, Jalen Williams made a jumper on the ensuing possession, and the Thunder came out on top, 111-109.

According to Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN, Portland is going to attempt to do something about this, as the team plans on filing a formal protest with the league.

“The referee in the slot position was refereeing the double team that was right in front of him, which makes it difficult for number one to hear and number two to see a coach request a timeout behind him,” crew chief Bill Kennedy said after the game. “He is taught to referee the play until completion, which a double dribble happens, and he correctly calls the double dribble and then pursuant (to that) the technical fouls come forward.”

Will There Be A ‘Fool Me Once’ Season 2 On Netflix?

Warning: This post contains spoilers for the Netflix show Fool Me Once.

Used to be that one-off limited series were fine. A show would only run a set number of episodes, telling a single, contained story, then that would be it. The world would move on. Nowadays that’s not always a sure thing. People were enraptured by Nathan Fielder and Benny Safdie’s The Curse, with Emma Stone, but that’s probably not getting a second season, for reasons we can’t get into because spoilers. But even that’s no guarantee of no return.

Likewise, what’s going on with Fool Me Once? The British Netflix series boasts a tantalizing premise: Maya (Michelle Keegan) is shocked to find that her husband (Richard Armitage), who was killed in front of her eyes, popping up in surveillance footage. What’s going on? As it happens what’s going on also explains why there’s probably not going to be a Season (or, since this is British, series) 2.

If you don’t want the twist ending of Fool Me Once spoiled, abandon ship forthwith.

Turns out Maya is the one who had her husband killed, but only because he murdered her sister, to protect his evil family. Sadly, Maya is then murdered by her dead husband’s brother. On the plus side, said killing was caught on a nanny cam, suggesting he won’t get away with it.

Does this mean the end of Fool Me Once? Not necessarily! There could be a prequel. Or they could take the White Lotus route and, like, make a series about a different but similar incident. Whatever happens, if they do a second season, it has to be called Fool Me Twice.

Russell Westbrook Took Off His Shoe Mid-Possession And Hit A Three

russell westbrook shoe
TNT

Russell Westbrook is going to get inducted into the Basketball Hall of Fame one of these days. Despite this, the Los Angeles Clippers guard has long had one major achilles heel: He’s not exactly the best shooter of all time. For his career, Westbrook has connected on 30.5 percent of his attempts from behind the arc, and this year, that number’s down to a paltry 28.4 percent.

To be clear, Westbrook at his peak did so many things well that this didn’t matter all that much. But perhaps there’s a fix to his shooting woes that is worth considering, which we saw during Tuesday night’s game between the Clippers and the Los Angeles Lakers. Westbrook had some trouble with the sneaker on his right foot, and once he realized his efforts to get it back on were for naught, he just kicked it off and decided to play. To take it one step further, he pulled up from behind the three-point line, knocked it down, and then got back on defense.

The best part of the clip, in my opinion, is Ty Lue taking the sneaker and putting it softly on the scorer’s table for whenever Russ got around to putting it back on. Unfortunately, Westbrook did not want to explore the one shoe thing for much longer, as he ended up putting his sneaker back on.

Even Winning In New Hampshire (But Not By That Much) Couldn’t Stop Trump From Going On All Caps Tirades Against Nikki Haley

Has Donald Trump ever been happy? Sometimes he seems joyful, but only when he’s trashing his many enemies in front of adoring crowds (or telling them about how magnets don’t work). But has he ever experienced actual, unfettered happiness, the kind that doesn’t involve gloating in the vanquishing of others? It sure doesn’t seem like it. On Tuesday the former president easily beat his last GOP primary rival standing, former employee Nikki Haley. (Or was it Nancy Pelosi?) Alas not even that could tame the savage beast, who went on one of his all caps social media tirades before delivering a decidedly non-celebratory victory speech.

Per Mediaite, Trump’s fury began even before the race had been called, with him making baseless conspiracy theories about “all of the Biden Votes going for Haley!!!” (This seems to be part of his claim that registered Democrats are allowed to vote for Republican candidates in the New Hampshire primary. That’s not true.)

As the obvious became clear — that she was going to lose — Trump did some gloating. But as she delivered a concession speech, in which she vowed to still stay in the race, Trump hit the caps lock button and left it on over such succinct posts as “DELUSIONAL!!!”, “SHE CAME IN THIRD LAST WEEK!”, and the slightly confusing “SHE JUST LOST NEVADA, WHICH IS UP NEXT!”

Was Trump just bragging? Maybe something else was sticking in his craw. Trump had been predicting that he’d blow Haley out of the water, perhaps with a distance of 30 percentage points. As of this writing, with 55% of the votes tallied, he’s “only” up by less than 10%, with nearly 45% of voters favoring her. Even famed political analyst Dave Wasserman, a senior editor at Cook Political Report, noted that wasn’t “going to be a total Trump blowout.”

Perhaps Trump realized that there do exist wide swaths of the Republican party who are turned off by him, by his 91 criminal charges, by his antics during his last weeks in office, by his general air of being a chaotic vampire America should never have invited into politics. When he took the stage for his victory speech, he was far from humble. Instead he couldn’t shut up about the person he’d just conquered.

At one point he called Haley an “imposter” for running against him. He then angrily claimed that he wasn’t angry, only to repeat one of his more chilling favorite lines: “I don’t get angry; I get even.”

Later on he made a bizarre detour about what could happen to Haley if she won, which he assured everyone she wouldn’t.

“But if she did, she would be under investigation by those people within 15 minutes,” he said, signaling to some people in the back. (Reporters? The DOJ?) He then claimed he could tell them “five reasons” Haley could be investigated — “not big reasons, a little stuff she doesn’t want to talk about.” He added that Ron DeSantis would have faced similar scrutiny.

Would they, though? Trump is alleged to have committed some major crimes, some of which he did right out in the open, such as helping foment the Jan. 6 Capitol riot.

All this begs the question: Will Trump getting his old job make him happy? Seems like it will only make him angrier, and more unhinged.

Too much stuff causes stress. Here are 4 simple mantras to help you declutter for good.

It’s no secret that Americans on average have too much stuff. Yay, capitalism!

Seriously, though, most of us bring new things into our homes pretty regularly, and if we aren’t purging regularly, they start to accumulate. We fill drawers, closets, bins, basements and garages with it, and then at some point realize we’re swimming in stuff and need to declutter.

The problem is, as much as we may want to pare down and simplify, a lot of us are really bad at getting rid of things. Decluttering involves decision-making, and decision-making can be exhausting. There are also psychological and emotional reasons we hold onto things, and those mental hurdles are often what we need the most help overcoming.

So along with practical decluttering tips like having a garbage bag and a giveaway box with you as you go through different areas of your home, try using these four mantras to help clear the mental clutter that makes physical decluttering difficult.

1. “Stuff = stress”

There’s plenty of research that shows clutter causes stress and anxiety, and it’s pretty hard not to have clutter when you have too much stuff. Keeping the why of decluttering front and center can help keep you motivated as you start to purge.

Every item in your home costs you time and energy every time you encounter it. Moving the thing from one place to another, deciding where to put it, cleaning or dusting it, or even just having it take up space in your life costs you something mentally. Lots of small things add up to a large mental load, so ask yourself—Is this item worth what it’s costing me?

Stuff = stress. Less stuff = less stress. Keep that simple, freeing truth top of mind as you declutter.

2. “Maybe means no”

We’ve all been there with something in our hand trying to decide whether to keep it.

This notebook might come in handy sometime…

Maybe I’ll want to wear this dress one day…

But I might need that gadget in the future…

Nope, nope, nope. As soon as the words “might” or “maybe” come into your decision-making process, it’s a sign to ditch the thing. “Maybe” or “might” means you don’t need it right now, you aren’t using it right now, and you don’t know if you ever will.

If you keep things on the off chance that you might need them someday, you’ll never get rid of anything. The reality is there are very few things that you won’t be able to get in the future if you really need it. Your home is not a general store. And you are living in your home right now, not in the future.

When it comes to decluttering, maybe means no. Every time.

3. “Things aren’t memories”

This is a tough one for a lot of people to swallow, but some of us hold onto way too many things for sentimental reasons because we tie them to memories. Souvenirs, playbills, concert tickets, wedding gifts, grandma’s knick-knacks—so many things that make us go “Aww, remember when…” when we look at them, but here’s the thing:

Things are things. Memories are memories. Things aren’t memories. You can 100% still have the memories without keeping the things.

Things might trigger memories, but you can easily accomplish that by taking a photo of the thing that triggers the memory and getting rid of the thing itself. Make a “mementos” photo album for all those “but that reminds me of that happy thing” memory triggers and pass on the things themselves.

Of course, there may be some genuinely meaningful and valuable personal treasures that you truly love and want to hold onto. But most memory-associated items aren’t that. They’re just things. Keep the memories. Let the things go.

4. “Keep it flowing”

This is the main mantra to hold onto as you move forward. Once you’ve decluttered to a point where you feel light and free and good about what you have, it’s time to think about how to maintain that sense of freedom. And the key to that maintenance is, “Keep it flowing.

Rather than seeing your home as a receptacle to inevitably get filled up, see it as a channel that things naturally flow in and out of. Look at it as a flowing river, not a stagnant pond. New things will always be coming into our lives, therefore old things need to go out.

The reason we end up with so much stuff is that we fail to recognize this flow. Some of us come from a deprivation mindset, so we are afraid to let things go even when new things come in. Some of us are influenced by the “more is more” mindset of consumer society, so we keep adding without subtracting to keep a balance.

In our modern world, things come and go. Keep that flow going on purpose whenever you bring something into the house, and you won’t have to do another big declutter project again.
