Mom tells younger women how to know if the man they’re dating will be an equal parenting partner

When people get married and plan to have children, they expect that they will be in a partnership where their partner takes on equal parts of the parenting role. This doesn’t just include changing diapers and cooking meals. Parenting is much more than a few actions, it’s sharing the mental load and showing up without needing to be asked because you see what needs to be done.

A young woman still in the dating world put a call out to older women to ask how to know they’re picking someone who will be an equal parenting partner. Cheryl Neufville shared the moment that let her know that her now husband would make a good father, she encourages others to look for the sings.

While dating some of these signs may be easily overlooked if you don’t know what you’re looking for. Neufville’s example shows just how subtle the signs can be.

The experienced mom explained that before she and her husband started dating they were visiting a friend that had given birth to her fifth child. While visiting the baby was being fussy and having trouble calming for the friend, so the future husband stepped in instinctively taking the baby to help it calm. He even took the baby outside to get some fresh air giving the stressed new mom a break.

“I think about that quite often in regards to what I saw before we were dating. Where he didn’t have to wait to be told what to do, he just kind of took charge and helped that woman out with her baby and I just knew that he would be the same way towards our children,” Neufville reveals.

Commenters agreed, one person saying, “No, for real a man will definitely show signs of being a good dad before becoming a father. And it will be in the simplest of ways, we just gotta pay attention.”

“I think men who are good fathers stick out. Like I don’t know how to explain it, but the signs are there! I knew my husband was going to be a good father,” another says.

Someone else chimes in, “yes!!! I knew my husband beforehand and he was always helpful to his friends and I KNEW who he was. Watch how they treat others.”

Neufville shares a couple of beautiful stories that may help people looking for an equal parenting partner that spills into the comments with a plethora of more experienced women chiming in.

Mom rips into husbands who expect their wives to do housework in crazy viral Facebook post

It’s the 21st century, and as a civilization, we’ve come a long way. No, there are no flying cars (yet), but we all carry tiny supercomputers in our pockets, can own drones, and can argue with strangers from all around the world as long as they have internet access.

And yet women are still having to ask their partners to help out around the house. What gives?

Recently, Blogger Constance Hall went on a highly-relatable rant about spouses assuming responsibility for housework, and women everywhere are all, “🙌 🙌 🙌 .”

Recently while bitching about the fact that I do absolutely everything around my house with a bunch of friends all singing “preach Queen”, someone said to me “if you want help you need to be specific… ask for it. People need lists, they aren’t mind readers.”

So I tried that, asking.. specifics..

“Can you take the bin out?”

“Can you get up with the kids? I’m just a little tired after doing it on my own for 329 years”

“Can you go to woolies? I’ve done 3 loads of washing and made breaky, lunch, picked up all the kids school books, dealt with the floating shit in the pond.”

And yeah, she was right… shit got done. But I was exhausted, just keeping the balls in the air.. remembering what needs to be asked to be done, constant nagging..And do you know what happened the minute I stopped asking…?

NOTHING.Again.

And so I’ve come to the conclusion that it’s not your job to ask for help, it’s not my job to write fucking lists.

We have enough god dam jobs and teaching someone how to consider me and my ridiculous work load is not one of them.Just do it.Just think about each other, what it takes to run the god dam house.

Is one of you working while the other puts up their feet? Is one of you hanging out with mates while the other peels the thirtieth piece of fruit for the day? Is one of you carrying the weight?

Because when the nagging stops, when the asking dies down, when there are no more lists….All your left with is silent resentment. And that my friends is relationship cancer..It’s not up to anyone else to teach you consideration.

That’s your job.Just do the fucking dishes without being asked once in a while mother fuckers.

Hall’s post touches on the concept of emotional labor, which can be defined as “the process of managing feelings and expressions to fulfill the emotional requirements of a job.”

In other words, although Hall’s partner may be the one carrying out the tasks she assigns him, it is still Hall’s job to be the “manager” of the household, and keep track of what things need to get done. And anyone who runs a household knows that juggling and keeping track of chores is just as exhausting as executing them.

At time of publication, Hall’s post was shared nearly 100,000 times. That’s a lot of frustrated ladies!

When your girl Far Kew sends you the perfect present. You will find this and more cunty cups on her facebook page 👌🏽
Posted by Constance Hall on Thursday, November 30, 2017

Women in the comments section seemed to overwhelmingly agree with Hall’s post.

Let’s all learn to share the load…laundry and otherwise.

Incredible ‘bird feeder’ photos give a whole new perspective on our feathered friends

The pandemic has caused many people to reevaluate their surroundings. When you’re stuck at home more often than you’d like, you start to pay a lot more attention to what goes on in your own backyard.

This type of introspection inspired wildlife photographer Carla Rhodes to get a closer look at the furry friends that live near her home in the Catskill mountains of New York.

What she found was magical.

“The winter of 2020-2021 was particularly brutal to humankind. After months of enduring the Covid-19 pandemic, we were now collectively slogging through winter. As a result of being stuck at home, I focused on my immediate surroundings like never before,” Rhodes said in a statement.

Rhodes positioned a DSLR camera trap beneath her bird feeder to get an up-close glimpse of the wildlife that came to sample her delicious seeds. The results are an incredible series of photos of birds and other woodland creatures from a vantage point most people never see. Rhodes calls her project, “Beneath the Bird Feeder.”

The birdfeeder photos also gave a new glimpse into the behavior of several species of birds and rodents that call the Catskills home.

“As I got deeper into the project, intriguing observations emerged,” Rhodes says. “I noticed distinct repeat visitors such as a Dark-Eyed Junco with an overgrown beak, a deer mouse with a notched ear, and an irruption of Red-Breasted Nuthatches. Dark-Eyed Juncos always showed up at the crack of dawn and Northern Cardinals would always be the last visitor of the day as dusk turned into evening.”

Here are 15 of the most captivating photos that Rhodes captured from beneath her bird feeder.

1. Dark-eyed junco

“Often overlooked and considered drab ground-feeding birds, Dark-Eyed Juncos hold a special place in my heart due to their funny and curious behaviors. Every day they were first to arrive beneath the bird feeder,” Rhodes says. “Dark-Eyed Juncos were one of the most frequent and curious subjects beneath the bird feeder.”

4. Tufted titmouse

According to All About Birds, the tufted titmouse is “common in eastern deciduous forests and a frequent visitor to feeders.”

5. Mourning dove

”Observing Mourning Doves was a daily pleasure, especially when they gathered to form a clean-up crew beneath the bird feeder. Mourning doves are monogamous and possibly mate for life,” Rhodes writes.

6. Mourning dove

7.  Mourning doves

8. Blue jay

“Blue Jays are known for their intelligence and complex social systems with tight family bonds,” All About Birds says. “Their fondness for acorns is credited with helping spread oak trees after the last glacial period.”

9. Northern cardinal

“Northern Cardinals were always the last to show up beneath the bird feeder, shortly after dusk every evening,” Rhodes writes.

10. Black-capped chickadee

“Little flocks of Black-capped Chickadees enliven the winter woods with their active behavior and their cheery-sounding chick-a-dee callnotes as they fly from tree to tree, often accompanied by an assortment of nuthatches, creepers, kinglets, and other birds,” the Audubon field guide to North American birds says.

11. Black-capped chickadee

12. Eastern gray squirrel

Eastern gray squirrels are important members of forest ecosystems as they play a vital role in dispersing seeds.

 13. American red squirrel

The American red squirrel is known for its distinct bushy and dark red tail with hints of a white outline.

14. American red squirrel

15. Northern short-tailed shrew

If you see a northern short-tailed shrew, be careful. It’s venomous and paralyzes its victims with poisonous saliva. In humans, a bite can cause swelling and intense pain.

‘The Curse’ Was Always Supposed To Have That Batsh*t Ending, Says One Of Its Creators

The Curse Nathan Fielder Emma Stone
Showtime

Warning: This post contains spoilers for the wild ending for The Curse. Tread lightly if need be.

The Curse came to a close the other week, and the way it ended suggests there probably won’t be a second season. Unless there could be! After all, The White Lotus was supposed to be a one-off limited series, and look at it now. If you’ve seen the show, created by Nathan Fielder and Benny Safdie, you understand why the conclusion was divisive. Even those who loved it were surely left scratching their heads. But was what happened to Fielder’s Asher always the way it was supposed to go? The answer is: Yes.

“From the beginning, this was always the ending,” revealed Safdie, who’s also one of the show’s stars, during a screening of its 10th episode at Lincoln Center.

When asked how he “reverse engineered” the show from that capper, Safdie said, “Well, originally, he floats away but very slowly and then, practically speaking, we’re like ‘Oh, wouldn’t it be more exciting if it was reverse gravity and so then it was literally like falling off a cliff upwards.”

Safdie refused to explain what it all means, which is for the best, but he did get into his inspiration for chasing this crazed ending:

I know there are a lot of questions about why it happened, and I imagine, why him? We have reasons, but it is very early in the gestation of all this, so the way I’d like to leave it is like, if you have a drawer, for example, and there was no handle on the drawer, how would you open it? Would you tip it forward, so that the drawer falls out? Would you use a knife to get into the crack and open it? Maybe you’ll take some tape and stick it to the front and pull it out that way. You’d come up with a lot of different ways to open that drawer, and what you’d find is the same information, but the way you got the information was your own. If you put a handle on the drawer, you just open it right up and find your information, so you lose a little bit of that process and that kind of searching, which I think is important for this.

I do think there is something strange in that. You will be watching something and asking, why did this happen? Why did this thing, which is clearly supernatural—why did this happen? How could it happen? It had to have been this, it had to have been that. You’re trying to find reasons for it, so it’s not too dissimilar to what it would be like if you were actually there. That was something that was important to us, which is when you’re faced with something like that, how would you respond?

[…]

I think in the process of trying to understand it, you understand more.

On The Curse, Safdie plays curly-haired Dougie Schechter, an HGTV producer making a home improvement show with married couple Whitney and Asher Siegel, played by Emma Stone and Fielder. In the maiden episode Asher, in an attempt to make himself look more charitable than he is, offers a $100 bill to a young girl, only to ask for it back after they get the shot. She then puts a curse on the show. And that’s only the beginning.

The Curse now streams on Showtime, which one can watch on places like Paramount+.

WWE Tried To Get Tim Tebow A Match At WrestleMania One Year

tim tebow
Getty Image

Let’s go back in time, oh, 10-15 years or so and remember when Tim Tebow was one of the most popular athletes on earth. Tebow went from a Heisman and national championship-winning quarterback at the University of Florida to one of the most polarizing guys in the NFL, because while his numbers were not good at all, he had this uncanny ability to make a play in big moments. A lot of people screamed about him on television. It was pretty wild!

Tebow got drafted by the Denver Broncos, spent two years there, got traded to the New York Jets, got released after one season, and joined the New England Patriots ahead of the 2013 season. Unfortunately for Tebow, the team cut him before things kicked off, which beget his media career. But as it turns out, another door was opened up for him: professional wrestling. During an appearance on Pat McAfee’s show, WWE president Nick Khan (who previously was an agent) told a story about how Triple H reached out to him following Tebow’s tenure with the Patriots and pitched him on a WrestleMania matchup against Big Show.

“When I was an agent, my prior profession, and I was trying to get into the WWE business,” Khan recalled. “Paul had called me, unsolicited call, and this was when Tim Tebow had just gotten cut by the Patriots … He said, hey, what do you think about Tim Tebow against the Big Show at whatever that WrestleMania was after the Patriots run. I said, what’re you thinking? He offered some financial terms, I called Tim at the time, [asked] what do you think. Tim and I had, then, a top secret private meeting: Tim Tebow, myself, Vince McMahon, Triple H, in Anaheim, California about that. Ultimately, it didn’t happen.”

If my math is correct, the WrestleMania immediately after his tenure with the Patriots came to an end in 2013 was WrestleMania XXX in New Orleans, which took place in April of 2014. Funny enough, Big Show had an important role at that event, as he was one of the final two competitors in the inaugural Andre the Giant Memorial Battle Royal. It ended with him getting picked up and dumped out of the ring by Cesaro.

Lil Nas X Announced His ‘Where Do We Go Now?’ Single And Shared Its Release Date

lil nas x

Lil Nas X is keeping fans fed. Earlier this month, the hitmaker and provocateur made an epic comeback with his buzzy single “J Christ” — the video of which depicts him being crucified and making an ascension into heaven. But it appears his next single will be a bit more personal.

Today (January 23), Lil Nas X announced his upcoming single, “Where Do We Go Now?”

The song is set to arrive this Friday (January 26), as Lil Nas X revealed on his social media accounts.

“im dropping new music to match with your depression,” he said in the post’s caption.

There’s not much context regarding the subject matter thus far, however, the song’s artwork sees a drawing of Lil Nas X standing in a lush, green field, and holding hands with what looks like a younger version of himself. So, it’s likely that the song will showcase Lil Nas X’s more introspective side.

If it’s anything like his Montero cuts “Dead Right Now” and “Sun Goes Down,” fans are certainly in for a ballad that will tug at the heartstrings.

“Where Do We Go Now?” arrives in tandem with Lil Nas X’s documentary, Long Live Montero, which is set to premiere on Saturday, January 27 on Max.

The ‘Godzilla Minus One’ Team Reacting To Their Visual Effects Oscar Nomination Is Just Beautiful

Godzilla Minus One
Toho

Did you know a Godzilla movie had never been Oscar-nominated before Tuesday? Not even the good one from 2014 scored one for its visual effects. Japan’s most famous rampaging giant lizard who’s also a metaphor for the destruction wrought by America’s nuclear weapons turns 70 this year, but till now major awards bodies haven’t felt like fêting such amazements as his weirdly cute son and the infamous smog monster. That all changed thanks to the new, fairly serious Japanese installment Godzilla Minus One. And boy is it lovely seeing that film’s makers celebrate.

Per The Daily Beast, a viral video posted to social media shows some of the film’s team crowded into a conference room, watching the telecast of this year’s nominees being announced. Sure enough, the category for Best Visual Effects featured Japan’s new Godzilla effort, alongside The Creator, Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, Napoleon, and Mission: Impossible — Dead Reckoning, Part One. (Incidentally the latter was that franchise’s first Oscar nomination, too.)

Not only does the titular beastie in Godzilla Minus One — which has been a surprise hit even here, a nation that has long deplored watching movies with subtitles — have genuinely impressive CGI. The film about him is a genuinely good movie, too. The very first Godzilla picture, from 1954, is not the campy affair that would soon follow. It’s a grim, intense affair, depicting the horrors that parts of the nation underwent during the war, and not only when America was dropping two atomic bombs on Hiroshima and Nagasaki. Minus One begins just after World War II, and when Godzilla rampages across cities, it’s hair-raising and upsetting, not silly and rah-rah.

So mazel tov to the visual effects artists who handed Godzilla his first taste of AMPAS love. Maybe this will get people to watch the even better 2016 outing Shin Godzilla.
